Galleons amongst galaxies, space travel has been achieved, though the technology retains its brass-tubed Victorian style. This is a world of an empire, of noble families and lowborn labourers, where some are handed privilege, and others must cast their fortune to the solar winds and see where they are taken. If one is lucky enough to be gifted the skill of wonderworking, no matter your rank in life you would be admitted into the Imperial Thaumaturge Academy, and train as an equal with nobles in the arts of elemental manipulation, biological transmutation or healing. Those who are drawn to machines may be recruited to build the incredible ships that sail through the stars, or create intricate automatons that serve lords and kings. You may also be inclined toward the Imperial navy, where you might train to fly one of the empire’s glorious solar-sailed ships. Even though the empire is mighty, there is still a free life to be had out on the winds in space, many join pirate crews, and it is said they often have it far better than Imperial sailors.

You can play as several different races: an Imperial human, an alien, an automaton or a bioman and whatever class and profession you like. There will be general guidelines for these, but any well-explained concept should be accepted with no issue.

Oh, hey Speck! Anyway, I'm in. Are there rules to the character I can make?

Fair enough!

My character's name is Nimh. He's an Orcumyn from the planet Orcys. Basic description is a green-skinned bipedal, with Sangheili-like legs. Powerfully built, but not overly tall, and has a hard time adjusting to different gravities. He does breathe air, thankfully, and his head more or less resembles a thinned-down horned beetle. He's not too great with people, but that's due more to his social anxiety than an aggressive attitude.

Is that okay?

That sounds really cool! The character sheets will require a bit more detail, but I like it!

CHARACTER NAME: Nimh
SPECIES: Orcumyn
PLACE OF ORIGIN: Orcys

PHYSICAL DESC: Green skin, bipedal. Relatively thin carapace covering arms, back of the hands, torso, legs, back of the feet (three-toed), and head. Head resembles a thinner horned beetle, eyes are similar to homo sapien. Measures six feet six inches, weighs two hundred thirty pounds (seems to be very dense). The carapace is faintly glossy, but has a sandpaper texture to the touch. His blood is oxygenated, similarly to a human's, and he breathes the same air as most humans. Has a notably weak immune system; medicine must be taken weekly to counteract the various toxins in the air.

PSYCH EVAL: Nimh has social anxiety, which is unfortunate considering his considerable strength and durability. He can take orders, but seems to have a fairly bad memory. He remembers the names of people, but has a hard time matching them with faces (species wall, perhaps?). He tries to solve problems in the most blunt manner possible, which often either offends or hurts the feelings of anyone in his vicinity. He apologizes... too often, to put it bluntly.

SKILLS: He's decent at operating steam-powered equipment, but has less than no idea on how to repair it. He's remarkably strong, capable of lifting up to but not exceeding a maximum of six hundred pounds at one gee, but lacks in speed and stamina. He's remarkably tough as well, but hardly bulletproof and definitely not laserproof. While weak to most pathogens, he recovers with relative speed and adjusts reasonably quickly. While hardly a genius, he's no idiot.
