Abilities: Dark Matter

Spencer's ability, Dark Matter (a name he gave it), allows him to manipulate a pitch-black plasma-like substance, which draws energy from his own body. The plasma looks similar to fire, but tends to be much more 'flowing'. While in use, the power causes Spencer's eyes to glow.  His current uses of this power are as follows:

Barrier: Spencer covers himself in a thin layer of his power, which becomes transparent after a brief moment. While active, Spencer has significantly increased durability and speed.

Comet: Spencer concentrates his power in his palm and fires an explosive ball of energy. This is his most common attack.

Asteroid: Similar to comet, but is more explosive and moves extremely slowly, essentially acting as a floating mine. Detonates remotely or on contact.

Shooting Stars: Spencer covers his fists in his plasma, increasing the strength of his punches. Only used in close combat.

Meteor: Currently Spencer's last-resort option, he concentrates a great deal of energy between his palms to make a massive ball of his plasma before launching it at his enemies.

Flaws: Spencer relies entirely on his power for his hero work; without it, he's completely defenseless, no different from your average person. Additionally, his power consumes a great deal of energy, giving him a current time limit of ten minutes maximum of continuous fighting before he becomes too exhausted to move. Additionally, since his power uses energy from his own body, without his Barrier skill up Spencer is quite frail, since most of the energy his body gets is used for his power instead of building muscle mass.

Occupation: Hero

Group(s)/Partner(s): None

Personality: Spencer is, at his core, quite idealistic. He believes strongly in the concepts of good and evil, and has very clear definitions for both. This shouldn't be mistaken for naivety, however; Spencer is well aware that the world isn't so black and white, but he believes it isn't all just one big morally grey area either. This shines through most when out doing Hero work, as he often takes the time to stop and spout exposition during fights. He prioritizes saving people during these fights, typically leading his foes away from densely populated areas before fighting back.

Despite this heroic air he puts on, Spencer is actually quite standoffish while not fighting or doing other Hero work. He's never been great at making friends, and often waits for someone to approach him first. When he does make friends, however, he can be found to be quite intelligent and full of witty comments and a great deal of sass.

Backstory: Spencer's backstory is, for a Hero's, rather boring. Both his parents were average people who lived average lives in City 2, running a small shop near the docks. Spencer himself never went through any significant life-altering events either; both his parents died of natural causes when he was twenty, and he held no grievances with their deaths.

That said, Spencer was raised with a strong love for the concept of heroes, spending much of his time reading comics and the like. The creation of the Hero Association was like a dream come true to him; he wanted nothing more than to be a hero and save the day. Perhaps because of this strong desire, Spencer's powers manifested at the age of fifteen, when a tiny marble of black plasma formed itself in the palm of his hand. Since then, he's done nothing but train with his power in order to control it and one day sign up for the Hero Association.
After his parents passed away, Spencer threw himself wholeheartedly into being a Hero, managing to pass the most recent exam with his head held high.
