• May 10th, 2023

The President of the United States gets initial CIA reports of chatter on Russian networks referring to "Project
фантом" A branch of the CIA is dedicated to finding out about this project and assessing the potential threat to the US.

• August 21st, 2023, 0800 hours

The world woke up with a shock as a terrorist organization, the FNFI (Free Brothers Front International) announced to the world that they have taken captivity of nuclear weapons and have aimed them at major world cities. A ransom is set at $20 billion, and the withdrawal of all outside forces from the middle east, where terrorist organizations fight a losing defensive war against an international coalition. The world is given 48 hours to submit to the demands and begin the withdrawal.

• August 21st, 2023, 1000 hours

The (still) Russian President Vladimir Putin announces at an official press conference that Project фантом is a revolutionary new type of ICBM designed to be virtually undetectible, with intercept chances as low as .9% by conventional methods. Further, he states that 10 of the фантом, or Phantom, missiles have indeed gone missing from weapons research bases in Siberia, it is believed that the фантом missiles are the weapons FNFI possesses.

• August 21st, 2023, 1200 hours

In New York City, an emergency meeting of the UN is held to discuss the risk and credibility of this threat. The United Kingdom's delegation leads the skeptics, with Russia arguing most strongly in favor of the acceptance faction.

• August 21st, 2023, 1450 hours

The United States announces their willingness to accept FNFI's demands. This leads to outrage within America, though strangely not within the major cities. Nonetheless, the population in suburban and rural areas is in an uproar, citing the US' past commitment to not negotiating with terrorists. US President Marcus Reddington (Using a fictional name to not generate any political controversy attempts to appeal to the US' allies to accept the demands. Poland, Ireland, Norway, and Belgium, four of the coalition's biggest backers, agree within 15 minutes.

• August 22nd, 2023

With half of FNFI's deadline past, and several nations within the coalition not agreeing to FNFI's demands, FNFI, in an attempt to up the fear, releases a list of targets. New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, St Petersburg, Beijing, and Shanghai are the cities that will be decimated by atomic fire if the world doesn't accept. Large scale terrorist attacks are promised in Warsaw, Amsterdam, and Rome, among other cities. A mass exodus begins from those cities listed as targets, with the streets out of them becoming clogged with cars and refugees. America goes to DEFCON 3 and continuity of government plans are enacted, with the President and a large part of the federal government being evacuated to undisclosed safehouses.

• August 22nd, 2023 0500 hours

A breakthrough is made. Through communications monitoring and satillite imagery, it is pinpointed that the 10 фантом missiles, and potentially a large part of FNFI's upper echelon, are in the forests of rural Bulgaria. An area of a few square miles is pinpointed as a potential location.

• August 22nd, 2023 1200 hours

In rural New York, where the UN was moved after the announcement NYC would be a target, the meeting is locked down as the information is broken to those people and them alone that they know where FNFI is. Discussion as to a response begins immediately. The first idea was of course bombing the entire area to ash. That however would just piss FNFI off and the Russian and Bulgarian delegations pointed to that the missiles could be stationed in hardened bunkers known to be there from the Cold War. An alternative is needed.

• August 22nd, 2023 1350 hours

All current special operations personnel from several major nations currently on standby or in reserve are called to active duty. With unprecedented speed, they assemble and a sorting process begins.

• August 22nd, 2023 1400 hours

The UN votes almost unanimously to establish the United Nations Special Activites Directive to serve as an international special operative force. The top echelons of the UN Security council and the top government officials of the countries involved are the only ones allowed to know of it's existence.

• August 22nd, 2023 1500 hours

Special operatives from the nations are sorted through. The best of the best are selected, and sent to Germany. There, they are grouped into squadron-sized elements and begin briefing on the situation's finer points and the location of the bombs.

• August 22nd, 2023 10000 hours

With FNFI promising to launch it's bombs in just over 12 hours, no time is to spare. The teams, who have barely known each other an afternoon, are herded onto long range transport aircraft for the flight to Bulgaria. The plan is simple, the teams will be airdropped into the operations area, and carry out the objectives assigned to them. The bombs have been named according to the military Phonetic alphabet, Alpha through Juliet. It is estimated the missiles are in banks of two, and therefore each team will be assigned two bombs to capture, disarm, or destroy, with a fifth team being deployed to assassinate FNFI HVTs.

An international terrorist organization has captured several nuclear bombs, and is preparing to deploy them on major cities. The world comes together to form an international special operations unit, which will be deployed into Bulgaria to capture or destroy the bombs before they can be unleashed upon population centers. Our characters will be SPECTER team, who have been tasked with eliminating bombs Charlie and Delta.
This is a semi-realistic special operations roleplay. Your characters can come from any special operations unit from any country as long as it'd make sense (Basically just no North Koreans. I can't see why any other nation wouldnt try to be a part of this.) I'm ok with intrigue and romance as I have accepted that's what people like. Anyways, go ahead and tell me if you're interested and maybe we've got something here!
