Another regular day, for college students. It had least been a month since summer break ended. Vincent enjoyed being by his lonesome, especially after campus hours, which had most likely been past 9pm. Friday night; no classes to go to the next day, and got to do whatever you wanted. He would have said any day is his favorite day because he always chose for his own actions on whether or not he wanted to show up to his classes. Fridays he had never worried about though, as he knew that he didn’t need to do anything for the next couple of days.

He had currently walked out of his, rather like apartment. Wearing a simple pair of sweatpants, and a black hoodie. This was his usually wear, before he had gone to bed or just trying to relax, or just felt like being lazy. Walking down a flight of stairs, as he pulled his hood up due to there being a slight drizzle. It was dark out, so it wasn’t to be seen until you actually got outside.

Pugging his headphones into his phone, and putting both on each of his ears he had turned on his recently played hits, and continued to walk in the almost empty campus. Not paying attention as he was scrolling through social media on his phone, as he held his phone in one hand, and his other was shoved into his hoodies pocket, humming along with the song. His walking pace was rather slow. The breeze, was just right and it hadn’t been to cold outside. He had been heading to go grab some groceries from the store.

Kathrine was the last to leave the campus library on a Friday night. She knew it annoyed the media center specialist but she had work to complete. She was the top of the business college. She cannot afford to let her studies slip. She was so close to accomplishing her fathers dream for her.

She juggled her bag in her arms as she tried her hardest to pull her unruly hair into a low pony tail. Just like every woman on the planet to try the trick of juggling bags and hairstyling at the same time. She failed miserably as she bumped into a random stranger in her struggle. "Oh I'm sorry I didn't see you!" She apologized as her bag hit the floor. She grumbled as she finished pulling back her hair.

Vincent, had let out a frustrated sigh, as he looked up from his phone and took out his earbuds. Looking to the female, he had shoved his other hand into his hoodie pocket as he put away his phone. Thinking to himself, he sarcastically shook his head and looked down to her bag, but didn’t do anything about it. Looking back up to the female to make direct eye contact, he had a slight glare with a frown.

“As you should be,” he had muttered underneath his breath, before letting out a long sarcastic sigh as he nodded, “your perfect fine,” he gave a fake grin to her. Vincent glanced around to his surroundings, as he crossed his arms. Assuming that if she was out, maybe there were other people around.

Kat ran her tongue over her teeth to bite back the smartass comment that started to pass her lips. The apologetic fake smile died instantly on her lips. Her resting bitch face showed nothing but irritation. If looks could kill he would already be 6 feet in the ground.

"Look asshole I said I was sorry. If you weren't walking like a zombie I wouldn't have walked into your ass." Her voice was deadpanned as she moved to pick up her bags. It took her a moment to realize the long forgotten words on her wrist was starting to glow a bright gold. Her face started to sour more when she looked at the asshole in front of her. Kat mentally begged not him. She was so close she couldn't afford this set back.

Vincent already could tell that he had pissed her off, which he didn’t mind. He rather found it amusing when people had talked back to him because he would always have a smart ass response back. He pulled his phone out of his pocket, as he looked down. One of his friends had been calling him, but then that when he saw something glow. Looking over a little, he had scoffed to himself before turning his phone on silent, and pulled up his sleeve. The name that was written on his arm, had glowed also.

Closing his eyes, have gave an annoyed growl to himself as he looked to her. “Who would of known,” he had muttered as he pulled his sleeve back down, and shrugged to her. He didn’t have much to say, now knowing that the name that he had forgotten about a long time ago, wasn’t just useless; he didn’t really trust the whole soulmate thing. Instead, he had put his earbuds back in and had began to walk away, pushing past her as if nothing even happened. Yes, he was like this for a simple reason, his closest friends knew what his deal was.

Kat growled in pure annoyance when he pushed past her. She knew the symptoms of an unformed bond. She was forced to learn them in a completely useless human psychology class. "Good luck getting far." Her voice was flat as she watched him walk. She knew an unformed bond would be an issue. She did not have the time for it to be an issue. She had an empire to prepare to run.

Kat rubbed her head as she tried to remember the class. God she should have paid more attention to that nutjob of a professor. Then she remembered she kept her notes on her tablet. She quickly moved to the steps of library. It didn't take her long to find the notes on the symptoms. She read aloud "Insomnia, anxiety, inability to go to far…." She grumbled as she realized how much life hated her. The longer the bond is left unfinished the worse the symptoms become.

He had muttered underneath his breath as he walked away as he shook his head in disappointment to himself. He wasn’t the best at creating bonds with people, especially now knowing that his soulmate had been around the entire time, on the campus. Around a ten minute walk he had walked into the grocery store. He only needed a few things, and so that’s what he did. His mind although, had been distracted on thinking of what to do. He’d mainly grab some fruits, vegetables, and enough things to make a full meal for the night, as tomorrow he’d come back and actually go shopping.

Walking back to his apartment, he hummed along with his music. Hoping not to run into the female again. Luckily, he didn’t, because it would have been awfully awkward. Opening the door to his apartment complex, and putting most of the food away. Making a simple salad, he had sat down on the couch and had watched television for most of the night.

Kat spent the night working on her paper for her business practices class. She could feel the annoying tug of the bond. She couldn't believe her unlucky situation. She knew how her father regarded her bond since she was little. There was a point in her life where she was excited about knowing her soulmate. Her father destroyed that joy in a swift manor. She could still hear his words. 'Soulmates are a joy you will never have. You will marry to better the business.' Since that talk she stopped hoping that her soul mate would save her. She knew there was no escape at a young age. Overtime Kat stopped longing for the person who was tied to her.

Her alarm went off to signal it was time to get breakfast before stats class. She headed to the mess hall despite the tug she felt on the bond. ''Annoying thing go away." She muttered pulling her hood over her head as she walked to the pancakes. She had a massive sweet tooth so she loaded her plate with syrupt.

Vincent had woken up rather early, knowing that he’d usually meet up with his friends, are sure enough when he checked his phone, both of his closest friends had messaged him about meeting up. As he got up, taken a shower, got dressed in his usual wear, and grabbed his phone. He only had about ten minutes until they were going to meet up. They weren’t going to do as much besides maybe playing video games and going out to eat. Although, thinking of the same thing once again about what he should do about his soulmate problem; he probably should tell his friends but he knew he couldn’t do that, so he planned to ignore it.

Walking outside of campus, he had leaned against a light-post that had been centered in the front. As he waited, since they had a farther walk that him. Leaning against the pole, he had closed his eyes to relax himself.. For him, he didn’t have to worry about visiting family because since five years old, it had just been him and his father, but now, his father is always to busy for him. Vincent wasn’t bothered much by it, and was lucky enough to have a couple friends to put up with his smart-ass.

He had crossed his arms, uncomfortably as he continued to think.

Kat had her plate full of pancakes as she headed towards her dorm. What she didn't expect was that her bond lead her straight to the bane of her existence. She stopped when she noticed her soul mate but she didn't move to him despite the bond screaming at her. How could she even approach him she was awful with people it was why she lacked friends.

She hated the fact that man was bound to her but not because it was him but because she knew she would hurt him. He deserved better than her. She tried to discretely walk towards her dorm. The words started to burn the closer she got to him. She honestly wished she could cut her arm off in that moment.

Vincent had sighed a bit, as he tried to change his thoughts. Well, that was until he clasped his arm, as he pushed himself off of the light post and had looked directly to her, more in a glare. “You know it burns too,” he had mockingly called out to her as he checked his phone before shoving it back into his hoodie pocket, and rolled up his sleeves. He knew that he should of apologized from the night before, but he was never that type of person. Though, he knew it wouldn’t stop until they once became an actual thing, and not just some letters written on your lower arm, and/or wrist.

Glancing around as he looked back to her, he shook his head once again. Vincent has always been a grumpy person, and god save anyone if he woke up in a bad mood. He had been so used to ignoring, blocking out most people, and basically bullying them that he didn’t know where to take anything next. He mainly learned it all from his father though, since he was major in being a popular, actor, of whatever you’d like to call him.

Kat turned to him with a glare on her face. She couldn't deny the fact there was a pull. So she just closed the distance between them. "I am well aware it burns. I'm also aware of the pull and nudging of it. Congratulations you are my soul mate. Sucks to be you." She huffed as she blew a stand of hair out of her face.

All she wanted was to enjoy her pancakes before she had another study session for class. "So what will you do about it?" She asked as she eyed him over it was clear she was not going to take his bullying. She lived with a bully her whole life.

He had crossed his arms and shrugged. “Simply nothing,” he had said to her as he examined her from top to bottom.A glare remained on his face, “and what are you going to do,” he had snickered to her as he didn’t think about what he had been saying, nor even pay attention anymore, as his gaze lifted to the sky with a rather deep breath of trying to reassure himself.

He was quick to speak, as he didn’t want his friends to show up while he was talking to some girl and start teasing him. Vincents british accent was noticeable depending on how he mocked back; in a good or a bad way.

Kat watched him for a long moment as he snickered at her. “Simple I will just kill you.” She said with a straight deadpan voice. Her Irish accent was not as thick as it used to be. Her father made sure of it. He wanted a daughter who was flawless and he almost got one. If it wasn’t for the fact he couldn’t verify the mark on her wrist. She wasn’t serious about the comment but he didn’t need to know that.

Kat moved to eat a piece of pancake as she watched him. It was clear to her he didn’t want it anymore than she did. He reminded her more of an upset lonely kid then an adult man. “Till I decided how I want to murder you…how shall we fix this issue.” She said as she showed him her wrist. In a beautiful gold cursive was his name that marked her as his.

He had let out a cold, sarcastic chuckle to her. “I’d love to see you try,” he remarked with an actual grin. Vincent looked around, heaving another frustrated sigh. He’d just wish his friends would hurry up at this point, so he could leave. But he figured that he’d need to do something about the engraving on both of their wrists.

“How am I supposed to know. We both are having the same problem,” he muttered as he looked to her wrist. Not focusing like he should, he shook his head. “And I want to say sorry, for last night.” He was never good at apologizing, nor has he ever. But, he knew that he needed to do something about the mark, otherwise it’d be a bother.

Kat was a bit taken back that he apologized since she really didn’t expect him to. “It’s fine. No harm no foul.” She said as she looked around. She assumed he was waiting for someone to come save him from her. Honestly if she had friends she would be doing the same thing at this moment. “If we leave it then it will only get worse.” She said as she slowly eats her now soggy pancakes. God she just wanted something good to eat but it was clear today was not her friend.

After tossing her now ruined pancakes away she turned to him with a sigh. She shoved her hands in the hoodie pocket. “Look I don’t expect anything from you if that’s what your worried about. Your free to do as you please.” She said as she rubbed her wrist in her pocket. What right did she have to stop him anyways. She knew her fate more than anyone else at this point. Hell the only saving grace she had is that the media didn’t know where she went to school. Her father made sure of it.

He had slightly shrugged, before lowering himself to the ground as he got to tired to stand. He stared at the ground for a god moment before looking back up to her as he cleared his throat. “I don’t think neither of us have much of a choice, and I don’t think this is going to go away,” he said to her referring back to the name on his wrist.

He took that moment as he pulled his sleeve up and read the name. “Kathrine,” he said and nodded as he stood back up, stretching. He hated the fact that he was being so open, but he didn’t really have another choice. The engraving didn’t so much hurt it but it really did annoy him. He would of left, except the fact that he’d have to deal with a stupid name, and his friends would be completely confused.

Kat looked at him with a raised eyebrow when he sat down on the ground. “Kat.” She corrected him with an soft sigh. “My grandmother is the only one who calls me Kathrine.” She said as though that shed any light on the matters at hand. “Vincent at this point we are at a crossroads and one I can’t really help fix.” She muttered as she already knew what her father would say to her. He would be none please to discover she found her soul mate.

“I’m not allowed to know my soulmate more than past a name.” She quietly admitted to him. He was a complete stranger to her so he shouldn’t know the workings of her family. Plus she couldn’t bring another into that glittery prison she called a life. On the outside it looked perfect but on the inside well she didn’t quiet have the words to describe it.

He had slightly nodded, “Kat it is then,” he mumbled to her as he crossed his arms. He was calm at this point, and had nothing to bother him. Maybe at least a little, but there was nothing to be rude about at this point. “All I know, is that it’ll never stop,” he said referring to her name written on his wrist once again.

Raising an eyebrow, he had scoffed slightly. “What. A parent tell you that,” he had looked to the ground as he shook his head. He could have imagined, since she didn’t even look like one of those spoiled brats that he normally alway runs into.

Kat rolled her eyes as she looked down at her feet for a moment. “Why don’t you save me the effort. Just google the name on your arm. I’m sure you will find everything you want to know and more.” She said as she rubbed the mark on her arm. She never believed the stories about how soulmates were supposed to be each other’s best friends. She didn’t need those kinds of false promises.

She shifted as she heard her phone go off which signaled she had stats study group. “I hope whoever you are waiting for shows. I need to go to the library I have study group before I have independent study.” She never got a day off in her life. She had taken the max amount of credit hours a semester just so she could finish early.

He had chuckled a bit, in a sarcastic way as he looked over to see familiar faces; his friends in the distance. “Well, I’d consider that stalking,” he had nodded to her, as he kept his hands in his hoodie pocket, messing with his phone a bit.

“Have fun with that,” he had said as he moved past her and walked over to both of his friends to have a quick talk before they all headed mainly out to go eat breakfast or something. They didn’t have to worry about focusing on school considering that they were all actually surprising passing, well in their classes.

Kat sighed as she rubbed her face with her hand as she watched him leave. What was she going to do? She knew if and when he googled her what would come up. Pictures of her standing beside one of the top business men in the world. She knew the articles written about how academically smart would appear or how she was set to take over the business empire upon graduation. Hell she even knew the information about her arranged marriage would be top news. All things she didn’t want in her life but had to deal with.

She silenced the phone on her way back to the dorm. Who could she even call to ask about the situation? All the people she could talk to were paid by her father to spy on her. She was alone but it wasn’t til the very moment she needed someone she didn’t realize how lonely she actually was. She rubbed the name on her arm as she headed to the vacant library to spend her Saturday studying. She wouldn’t emerge from the library past 9 this night as well. She was clearly tired and for once in her life she let that tiredness show.

Vincent didn’t really bother to learn about his soulmate, and totally forgotten their entire conversation as he started to hangout with his friends, act like fools, eat and play video games and outside to the college’s field to play sports. Mainly what any young male would do, if they we’re sporty enough. Him and his friends split apart around four in the afternoon which gave him enough time to get his car, and head to the grocery store, getting enough for meals, snacks, and even a bunch of drinks. On his way home, he started to think more about what his soulmates father would be.

Once he arrived back to his place, and carried the groceries in, simply putting them away like any other normal person. He grabbed his laptop, and sat at the counter before he looked up his father. Slightly surprised, but expected that considering that, I’m not allowed to know my soulmate more than past a name. Well, as far as she said. He knew if someone ended up looking up his father, it’d all be about him and his major acting, famous career. But, barley anything about his own son considering that the last time they had talked was around five years ago. People could maybe find some early teen photos, with him and his father together but that didn’t mean it was all picture perfect. After around a hour of just reading, often frustrated about multiple things that had been stated in some articles, he had shut his laptop and ended up falling asleep, earlier than usual.

The week from there on out got worse for her. The stupid bond started to make her life even more miserable that it was before. She used to easily make her way through life but now she lacked sleep and focus. This state would not do for her busy life. It was a matter of time before someone told on her. Her father even caught wind of her recent struggles which lead to a very stern call she didnt need. She didnt feel like listening to his disappointment so she just lied and said she had a stomach flu. After that call she determined she had to fix this stupid bond before it messed up her life even further. God knows she didn't need her father breathing down her neck. "I'm just going to kill him. No soulmate no soul bond." She muttered as she pushed off her bed and stomped out of the dorm.

Just like someone who was pushed on the edge of a cliff she jumped. She quietly stomped around the campus in search for the other half of the bond. She really had no plan when she found him but she just needed a break. The bond burned when she got closer which caused her to smile for once. She could feel the nagging die the closer she became. "Vincent..." She called in a very tired voice. Her red hair was all over the place which meant she hadnt slept much. She knew she looked aweful but she did not care in that moment. She wasn't being watched by her fathers minions so she didn't need to be perfect or so she thought.

For the next week, Vincent hadn’t done much besides classes, skip some classes, go out and have fun with his friends and sleep. Some of his fathers friends had been contacting him in need of a dire photoshoot that he’s been skipping out on for a year now. He didn’t find any interests on becoming someone famous, or get recognized in the world and the worst part, he didn’t want to end up anymore like his father. The engraving name on his wrist bothered him, more and more, especially when he thought about it. He knew that it wouldn’t stop until they both had done something about it.

The same night, he had just gotten back from a jog. Taking a shower, getting dressed in a simple pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. Grabbing a bowl of fruit, and his glasses he sat down at the counter and pulled his laptop to him, and started finishing up some work that he had to do. Later into the night, maybe past an hour now, he looked to his arm that was now burning him in a matter. He glared before shutting his laptop half way and had opened the door. Walking out, he adjusted his glasses for looking at Kat. He crossed his arms. “And what are you doing here,” he had hissed to her slightly aggravated.
