The room certainly felt like home. The size of the room was a bit smaller but the feel of it was the same. At least she felt a bit of comfort in such an unknown place already. She took off her bow and the quiver and gently laid them next to the bed. It can't hurt to be prepared but she certainly wouldn't carry it around everywhere. That would be rude to others, not to mention it might come across as unfriendly and intimidating. Those she had seen recently seemed to not mind but she can never be too careful.

Maki was in the middle of unloading her fourth knife to inspect when Rhea had come in. She had her back turned and her body tensed up at the sound of the door opening - evidenced by her ears perking up and her movements stilling. She had tried hard to not immediately react by throwing the knife in her hand, and thankfully succeeded. She would rather not scare her fellow students as her first impression. She took in a deep breath and placed the knife on the bed with the three others before turning to the other student.

Hm.

”Quite alright. An honest mistake.” She said amicably with a smile. The other student's tone was all over the place and overall unnatural but she let it slide. She strode forward, eyes flickering to her ears for a moment. Demon-kin, she's seen enough refugees to know. ”My name is Maki. It is a pleasure to meet one of my dorm mates.” Maki bowed her head and kept her posture relaxed so the other would feel at ease as well.

Once downstairs, Aiden occupied the nearest comfy armchair. It was wonderful, how comfy the chair was. At home almost all the furniture had been wooden after all. So at first he didn't speak and just listened, enjoying hearing the others talk. Apparently Amy was Nobility, which caught Aiden by surprise at first. Once he'd given it a moment to think he supposed it shouldn't be too surprising. This school was extremely prestigious and royalty always had the best of everything so surely it was natural there'd be nobility here. He had a feeling Ryne might be Royalty too, judging by the way she held herself, but she didn't say anything so he couldn't be entirely sure.

"My magic comes from a contract. I've got a demon living inside me named Ayla, the two of us can speak to each other in our thoughts and she can appear in my dreams. So my magical abilities are sort of half hers, half mine if that makes sense. Well, at least I think of it that way... Ayla always says its all thanks to her. Anyway I'm not from anywhere important. No noble blood or special troops. I come from a Farming village so I guess I'm just kind of an average commoner. If you ever need a handy man or a cook, I can definitely help though." Aiden explained about himself. He didn't mind talking about Ayla, even if none of them would be able to hear her talk. It did make him feel a little self conscious to admit he was just some random farm boy though, especially after listening to a noble elf excitedly exclaim over hearing about a former member of a legendary mercenary group.

Rhea couldn't help but feel uneasy as her hairs stood up a bit naturally. Her instincts were quickly perked up feeling some bit of danger though it was quickly lost as the girl turned around. She shook her head a bit in response. She tended to have sharp senses when it came to danger, a mixture of living in the wilderness combined with her 'demonic' side. Given she wasn't attacked or anything she just chalked it up to her nerves. She didn't seem as if she was intending to cause any harm. She seemed more like she was a bit pestered given her reaction though her words portrayed she didn't mind. Rhea wasn't really the best at reading people if her attempt to act nonchalant in entering the room wasn't a clear enough sign as it was.

"Ah, my name is Rhea!" She answered with pride pointing to herself with her thumb with a confident smile. It seemed as if her excuse had worked! At the very least Maki's response made her believe her poor attempt at acting had been successful. Rhea was far too oblivious at how poorly she sounded or her wording was to think otherwise. She stood there awkwardly for a moment before realizing she was doing a poor job at conversing. It was a lot harder not having the jerk Cole to work off. He made it easy giving her something to respond back with... even if it wasn't the nicest response and if she was rather aggressive. She had to try and be nice this time. The beautiful kitsune was being nice to her after all! Even if she was jealous of her good looks it made far more sense to try and be nice, no reason to show any jealousy or aggression if she wanted to make new friends.

"So, do ya even know how to use those weapons you are fiddling with?" She spoke immediately blowing off the nice act speaking in a way that came off doubting of her. Even Rhea noticed how it sounded as she shook her head. Darn it, nice talk! Ya gotta not be sounding like your attacking someone. Think quick, need to come off nicer! She nodded to herself crossing her arms as if having a bit of an attitude without realizing it. She could do the small talk, she just had to get over her defensive side!

"I mean, ya know, lot of people who carry weapons around and all who don't really know how to use them is all. Um..." She spoke scratching her chin a bit in thought thinking of something nice to say in an attempt to act nicer. "S...so your quite beautiful, do ya like work as an.. um... escort?" She spoke looking up . She thought the word escort was what they might call a hostess, too afraid to come off being unknowledgable to hint in her words she wasn't certain as to not come off stupid. While not quite understanding the full scope of what her word actually meant she still found what she had asked to come off wrong. She was going to this academy after all, she likely was skilled in magic and held some prestige or connection to it to get in. It made little sense for her to work as some hostess. Not to mention it made it sound like she was flirting with her making her feel that much more awkward.

"Errr... I mean, so... Maki... what did you do before you came here? I mostly just lived in the woods with my teacher learning to live one with nature! What brought you here? Umm... any goals or stuff you came here to learn?" Rhea spoke up trying for casual conversation floundering a bit in part blurting out about herself briefly before finally seeming to catching herself injecting her own response before giving her a chance to repsond and instead giving her a chance to answer.

"Not to worry Amy, I won't." Whilst Falryne did not completely agree with Amelias standing and perspective, she could respect it. Perhaps for some, the life of a noble simply isn't desired. Falrynes eyes momentarily widened at the revealation of two of her dormmates having an Arcane Blood source. It was the rarest of all, yet they had two users in their dorm? She wondered what their headmaster was planning. With a sigh, she also came to another realization. As someone who desired to become a powerful mage to restore her familys noble standing, she had no combat experience. It was only the start of the year, yet she felt so far behind, just by listening to her dormmates. She would most likely have to put in far more effort than them, just to train the fundamentals. But, she was determined.

After hearing of Aidens abilities, she smiled briefly. "Not to worry Aiden, your skills will definitely come in handy. I have to admit cooking is not one of my strong points." Ryne didn't like the way he spoke about himself, as if he was beneath the others. They were all newbie students here on even ground, hence she tried her best to re-assure him. Realizing the conversation had turned to her, as the last to reveal her backstory, she spoke after a slight moment of hesitation. "...Looks like we have two Blood and two Contract users then." She began, pondering how to keep this brief. "I am contracted with an ice dragon. Unlike Aiden, the dragon itself does not stay with me. I come from a humble family in Anthrolis, Odalor kingdom-wise."

Upon hearing Aiden talk about himself as if he was beneath everyone, Zenima held up a hand as if to stop him. "The important thing is to not doubt yourself Aiden," Zenima began. "As long as you believe in what you do and push yourself, you can accomplish a great deal. I am both fortunate and unfortunate that I was thrust into being a mercenary given how I was...." Zenima paused for a moment and did not continue as if to stop and shut himself up. This caused Amelia to raise a curious eyebrow at Zenima's sudden halt. Amelia opened her mouth as if to try to persue an answer, but ultimately decided to not follow up on that lead. What Amelia did however was agree with Zenima by nodding her head and then turning to Falryne in response to her admission about her magic source.

"An Ice Dragon huh?" Amelia began. "How interesting, I've always read about how dragons have a proclivity for making pacts with mortals and it seems you are one of the lucky or unlucky few. While I do not want to pry into the details of your contract, as well as yours Aiden, you two are quite interesting." Turning fully to Aiden, Amelia continued. "If you want, I can help you train up your combat skills, the same goes for you Ryne." Turning to Zenima whilst smirking Amelia continued, "Unless Zenima over here wants to help, it would be nice if he didn't keep all his knowledge to himself." Amelia chuckled. "besides, I will have you answer my questions about the Dawn Rose Company, mark my words.

Zenima chuckled at Amelia's obvious taunting attempts, "Alas for now I am obstructed by Professor Muldoon's restriction on combat practices. Another time perhaps as I do not want to run afoul of our Demonkin professor."

Maki Iskval [Div class="Line"][/div]
Rhea. So that was her name. Maki awaited for something to happen - either the leaving of Rhea or the conversation to continue. She didn't mind either way. Rhea immediately jumped onto the weaponry she had been holding when she stood up and the corner of her mouth twitched upwards. Maki had tilted her head to the side but nonetheless responded. ”I, in fact, do. I'd rather not I'd robbed blind when I travel.” She said with a nonchalant tone as she grabbed one knife, flipped it until she was holding the blade and extended her arm quickly to emulate throwing it towards Rhea - but not letting go of the blade. ”It is certainly not some decoration.” She could understand where Rhea was coming from but it certainly wasn't the first conversation she thought would happen between two students of a prestigious magical academy like this.

Nor was the next topic of interest. Her eyebrows shot up at the assumption that she might have worked as an escort. Quite a guess to make to someone you just first met. Maki was no stranger to receiving the compliment on her looks - kitsunes were often given that compliment given their genes. Still, she hadn't heard of being accused of being a hostess before but they may be because it was very obvious with her outfit that she was, in fact, a priestess. That brought out a giggle, short but definitely there. She had placed a hand over her mouth in one elegant movement. Rhea had moved on to the next topic as Maki's mind reeled in the conversation. It was like the girl was trying to save face, save whatever integrity this conversation of theirs had. Or at least bring some form of normalcy.

”Contrary to your assumption, I actually am not an escort. I worked as a Priestess of Emoldina.” Maki reached towards her amulet to show it to Rhea, proving that she was a follower of the Lady of the Afterlife. She stepped forward, placing a gentle hand on Rhea's shoulder. ”Before we continue, come. Sit.” She gently nudged the demon-kin forward as invitation. She would rather not have a conversation at the doorway, no matter how awkwardly it had started for Rhea. They would just be tired by the end of the talk, might as well do it sitting down. There was only one seat there so Maki opted for the bed. She allowed herself to relax, all nine tails appearing behind her and settled down on the bed.

”Oh, you lived out on the woods? It must have been quite hard.” Maki had vague memories of her life before the temple. Lost and alone in the woods - not a soul in sight that would help her. It was why she was thankful to Emoldina and why she has continued her service. However, Rhea seemed perfectly fine aside from her topics of interest when it came to conversation. ”It is admirable, your resilience and your ability to adapt.” She mused, lacing her fingers together on her lap.

She fell into silence for a moment. There were many reasons as to why she was here. To learn. To observe. To experience. There was no simple answer to this question. Not when it came to Maki. But she didn't want to let the conversation go stale because she was droning on about some magical theory. ”Well, I simply came here to learn. I've always found magic fascinating, not to mention useful. Rodren is a great place to train and learn.” She replied, finding that to be the simplest response. ”And you Rhea? What do you seek in coming to this school?”

Aiden was taken aback by the sudden rebukes. Had he said something wrong? He hadn't been lying, He was just a commoner after all. There were plenty of farming families in the world, shouldn't it be normal to see himself as one of many? It wasn't like he needed Noble blood or great fame to be satisfied, he was quite happy to be what he was.

'Not all farm kids get to go to a famous school and learn magic.' Ayla suddenly spoke out. There was a note of agitation in her voice that Aiden hadn't heard before. It bothered him, but he knew she had a point. He had left nearly all his possessions at home after all for that very reason. He was going to be a magician, he was going to learn to perform miracles all the people from back home could only imagine. Aiden had left his old world behind and was entering a new life here. This suddenly struck him as an extremely lonely and selfish thought, everything in that farming village is what had made him who he was after all. Who was he to leave it all behind?

Aiden frowned, then shook his head. He didn't want to think about these things, not when he was meeting all these new people. He hitched a smile back onto his face and turned toward Zenima. "Speaking of professors and practice, what are everyone's magical proficiencies? We might end up in similar classes."

Rhea seemed to take note of her responses. She nodded a little bit as if to acknowledge what she said. That was how peole usually reacted in conversation right so the other person knew they were listening? Then again she had to admit it wasn't as if Maki had been doing the same much of the time she spoke too. Coleman hadn't either though she could just sum that up to him being a massive jerky nozzle. As she seemed to not take her mention of an escort wrong she felt some relief. She was worried it would of came off as an insult... granted she was still oblivious to the full extent of what she could of been implying. Her saying she was a priestess gave her some idea though she didn't know the full extent of it, particularly who Emoldina was though she at least she could recognize the amulet being a sort of holy symbol.

"Ah... oh... okay..." She spoke blushing lightly as she felt her hand on her shoulder seeming to tense up at first as if in fear before relaxing. She wasn't use to such close contact. Sure a handshake or even an embrace of someone close wasn't beyond Rhea's understanding though having a hand upon her shoulder from a stranger was... strange to her. She followed along not seeming to at all show any resistance to it being lead to the chair. She took her spear from her back placing it down to the side. She sat down looking at her realizing just how easily she had moved. Darn it.. .sh... should I of resisted... it... it wasn't be condescending right? I mean it wasn't like the village jerks or how smug butt talked to me earlier.

"Ah... ha! Well it was nothing for someone as great as me! Cyran taught me all the basics but I managed to hunt and make by all on my own! Ya better believe I'mma great hunter." She spoke trying to gloat in hopes of it garnishing interest from the girl convinced it was the best way to get people to care about you. She was overplaying her hand a bit given how much Cyran really taught her much more then just basics. It didn't change the fact she was still a decent hunter so long as she didn't allow herself to get impatient and allow her anger to get the best over her. At the very least she could manage on her own in the woods without any help. She looked to Maki seeming a little uncertain whether she had forgot about her earlier question. She sat still beginning to fiddle a bit herself fidgeting with her fingers and lightly tap her foot. Her eyes couldn't help but glance upon her tails noticing the sprawled behind her elegantly causing an ounce of jealousy to rise once more in Rhea lacking any sort of tail of her own. When she did respond her ears perked up in attention looking on excitedly listening in. That expression softened a bit as her ears lowered as she felt uneasy.

"Well..." She spoke glancing about clearly trying to come up with something. Naturally making friends was the first thing she wanted to say but that was much too embarrassing for her and likely it would make her look lame in her own mind and likely cause the opposite. She lifted her finger up with a smirk on her lips coming up with what to say.

"I'm here to prove how great I am! To prove ya all how talented I am!" She spoke as if to brag and put on an ego trip about herself though her use in tone came off scripted much like her first time trying to introduce herself. She knew she had lots of room to improve. For her beyond hoping to seek friends she in some part wanted to learn more on how to use magic. While she could use it to some degree she had plenty of difficulty in managing it. While it wasn't nessisarily all her fault it was still something Cyran was convinced she could over-come and being part of the reason he had wanted her to go to the academy in order to continue learning with teachers who might have a better grasp on forms of magic he was less knowledgeable about.

"Ya know I don't think ya are as bad as I thought!" She spoke immediately realizing she blurted out what she hoped Maki might say about her rather then just saying she liked her. She crossed her arms as she tried to play it off nonchalant while attempting to fix what she said. "I mean ya know walking in ya seemed like hoity toity..." Darn it she said something dumb again, that made it sound like she looked like a snob! "Well I um... it's nice to meeet ya, I like ya!" She spoke bowing her head lightly as an attempt to close her mouth for a second before she might accidentally say the wrong thing again.

"As are you two." Ryne responded politely, eyes wandering over the two blood magic users across from her. Her thoughts silently wondered to their heritage, and how they were treated as such rarities. "I may take you up on that offer." She thought to herself with a smile of gratefulness directed towards her blue haired dormmate. Perhaps she was not alone in this journey to greatness, she may be able to rely on her companions for guidance. How trustworthy they were had yet to show however. As the two bantered, Falryne began to focus her attention more on her fellow contract user. Had he been in similar circumstances to her? How well did he know about his powers? She felt a sense of comfort in knowing that she was not the only contract user she knew, but also a small tinge of competitiveness.

Her thoughts were broken when the student in question frowned for a moment, before smiling and asking another question. A wave of curiousity caused her to ponder what sort of person Ayla was, and the kinds of conversations they had inside his head. It was difficult to comprehend what it must be like to never have your thoughts truly to yourself. "I recall mine as being Transmutation, Abjuration and Conjuration. Although I have to admit the class that I looked forward to the most was Evocation. But I'm sure my time here will be worthwhile regardless." Her words were no lie, she truly looked forward to the experiences she would gain here, both academically and socially.
