The Founding & History
IWhen SMITED was first formed, before it took on a modern name, the founder set forth to seek out the leaders of the supernatural races. From these meetings, eventually The Accords were officially agreed upon.

Thses accords were proposed for the protections of both supernatural and mundane races. Due to the steady advancement of mortal technology, the Founder recognized the need to accept that one day they would all be exposed. Instead of being unprepared and risking unnecessary loss of life and even facing extinction or annihilation, the Founder suggested forming an alliance with a common objective.

The Accords respect the supernaturals rights to protect their traditions and culture, but also discourages unjustified violence towards mudanes, as any threats could provoke retaliation. Supernaturals could defend themselves against a mundane if required, for their own protection and survival, or the protection of another.

Not all supernatural races agreed. Those of a malevolent nature refused, ignoring the laws set forth by the Accords. Those races that refused to accept the Accords and threaten the precarious peace with mundanes are strictly dealt with by those who form the Accords; supernatural and mundane.

The Founder served as a mediator between the mundane and the supernatural, placing the enforcement agency as a neutral entity that would not be swayed by the governments of either. This neutrality was originally accepted by both sides. However, as time passed and SMITED officially revealed the existence of the supernatural races, both sides became upset with the agency.

The Revelation
With what the media called “The Revelation” tensions between the mundane and supernatural increased. Most mundanes were fearful due to the otherness of these previously unknown races. The supernaturals felt threatened by their sudden exposure.

Both sides - feeling threatened - struggled to adapt. Governments suddenly had to determine what rights supernaturals were entitled to. The supernatural races protected their territories fiercely, fearing attacks from the mundanes.

The only thing they had in common at the start was their anger towards the agency that had revealed them. They all blamed the agency for creating international chaos. The mundane governments declined to accept The Accords.

The Present

It has been only five years since “The Revelation” and the agency officially named itself The Supernatural/Mortal Institute for Threat Elimination and Defense; SMITED. Its relationships with the world’s governments and the supernatural races is still fragile, though trust has slowly been rebuilding as the agency continues with its mission.

SMITED still works as a independent agency, serving both mundanes and supernaturals, with the goal of protecting both sides equally. The mundane government’s displeasure over the agency refusing to answer to them has still not ended, but they will still request the services of the agency.

Agency Location

The main office of SMITED is located at the base of Piz Lagrev, which is southwest of Engadin St. Moritz, Saint Moritz, Switzerland. There are smaller offices throughout the world, but the main hub of activity goes through the Switzerland office.

The Accords

The Accords are agreements formed between the supernatural races and SMITED. Currently, the mundane governments have not agreed to join the Accord.

  • The agency is responsible for enforcement of the Accords.
  • The agency is responsible to defend against those supernaturals who commit evil acts.
  • The supernaturals have the right to protect and preserve their culture and traditions.
  • All Magicians must be registered through The Syndicate.

HUMANITIES

HUMANITIES
The school for HUMANITIES - Humans, Understanding Motivations of Associations within Needs of Interactions with Technologies, Interpreted for Every Species - is a agency run school meant to help fantastical races who have been secluded from the modern world of humans. Courses here are optional and completely free for any fantastical race to attend to better understand the current world and technology.

Agents of SMITED - who are particularly out of touch with modern society - may be required to take a few courses, though generally this is a voluntary option for them.

(Credit to @Tarmagon for the acronym.)

FABLE
FABLE - FAntastical Beings and LorE - is course for agents curious and interested in learning about the known fantastical races.

About HQ
SMALLB.png About HQ - WIP

Barracks
The barrack's for SMITED agents are rather nice. While agents do still have to share sleeping quarters the barracks themselves are more like a hostel with modern design and amenities to offer as much comfort as possible. Each agent gets a bed, small closet, and a locker. There are communal bathrooms with separate showers and toilets for privacy. Each barracks has a full kitchen and communal dining area along with a living space area.

Gym
There is a sizable gym which all SMITED personnel with access to SMITED HQ may use as they please. It is open 24/7 to cater to even the most nocturnal of agents. Along with standard gym equipment there is custom equipment as well for the not quite humanoid agents use. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, and an indoor track that is a level above the gym and runs along its perimeter.

Infirmary

The infirmary is a small hospital with all the modern medical equipment along with the magical kind.

Library
The library is the oldest building in SMITED HQ and has been only touched to fix any damage that time and age has done to the building and books. It's not even 1% the size of the Shadow Archives, but it contains valuable books none-the-less. The library's main section of books is able to be accessed 24/7 by any SMITED agents, however books are not allowed to leave the premises without official permission signed off by the higher-ups in the Administration. There are also many restricted sections where only certain agents of a certain rank may be granted access to.

Armory
The Armory is tightly secured and guarded 24/7 by multiple SMITED agents with cameras observing every single angle. No items can be taken without proper clearance. The more dangerous the item, the more difficult it is to get and all the more protected by multiple systems to prevent them from getting into the wrong hands. It has multiple levels with a few above ground, but most are underground.

Administration
This is the main building of HQ where all meetings, briefs, debriefs, paperwork, and general SMITED business is conducted. Like the Armory it has high security and only those with the proper IDs may access certain parts of the building with specific clearance requirements.

Inside Admin Building
Inside this building are floor upon floors of offices, meeting/conference rooms, cubicles, an auditorium, and so forth. There are basement levels as well, but access is restricted. Office/rooms which have privacy glass installed; with a flick of a switch the glass goes from clear to frosted and additionally the rooms are soundproofed for security and privacy. People will know if an office is in use since the frosted glass doesn't prevent shadow silhouettes.

Mess Hall
This is where everyone who wants a real meal goes. The mess hall serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at designated times (day and night).

Cafe: The Mythic Mystic
There is a decently sized loft cafe which can be found on the first/second floors of the Admin building. It functions 24/7 offering baked goods, subs/sandwiches, small snacks, and various drinks (coffee, tea, etc).

The Mythic Mystic is managed by Ursula Crane and is usually the one to be brewing the 'special' drink orders; the kind with a bit of apothecary and magic (but don't you dare call them potions to her face).

Bar/Club
Since SMITED HQ is in such a remote location an underground bar/club was built to provide some entertainment to those stationed there. There are karaoke nights, dance nights, sports nights, and so forth. To access the bar/club agents must take the access from the gardens. SMITED badge required for access. Club only accessible from 8pm to 2am.

bar1.jpgbar2.jpg

Fairy Garden
There is an entrance to what is known as a Fairy Garden, which is home to small fairies, pixies, and other tiny fae creatures. While agents can wander to and from the garden unrestricted, they do so at their own risk of having pranks played on them. There are numerous tiny fairy houses built into the tree themselves of in stumps or large boulders.

Various Gardens
There are various gardens one can enjoy, from tamed to wild, small to large. Some feature a small pond which a few are open to allow for swimming.

SMITED Security
SMALLB.png SMITED Security

GOLEMS
Guardian PrOtector Legion Enchanted Magic Sentinel - GOLEMS - are one of the any security systems that exist within SMITED HQ as well as The Syndicate. They can be seen wandering the area on patrols or standing guard. They don't ever need to take a break as they are not required to eat nor sleep. Many new agents at first may mistake them for odd statues until they spot one actually moving.

Much like Emperor Qinshihuang's Terracotta Army, there are thousands more of these units kept in storage to be used as needed with a couple hundred only active on the premises at one time. The units are each capable of both physical and magical attacks, though usage of magic can drain the mana-powered unit into disuse should it be cut off or move out of range of the mana-recharge crystal hidden within the grounds (sort of like a wireless charger).

As long as the units have access to mana they are considered indestructible as even if they are broken into pieces they can reform their bodies due to their special construction.
