Fandom Skyrim-The college of Winterhold

Green Dragon

Fire Hazard
I love the college of winterhold in skyrim, but i don't think it has enough significance in game. Here's what i think it should be, and the kind of impact it should have on the community:

  • More students, more teachers. I imagine actual classes, real studies. Nords may not like the college, but they're smart enough to know magical abilities should not be left unchecked. You're either born with magical abilities or aren't, and if you are, it can be devastating if you don't learn to control them. If nothing else, children are sent to learn to control their abilities. They can stop there, leave to live a life without magic with the ability to restrain it, or choose to continue learning and live a life of magic. This ability can appear at any age, but puberty is most common.
  • Structure. I imagine, if you continue your magical studies, you take classes in each school of magic until a certain level (Adept), and then go on to choose the school/s of magic you wish to specialise in, or "Major" in, if you will, and then take the expert and master levels for those as well.
  • Inclusion. Enchanting, Alchemy, and general healing are taught by the school as well-and these don't necessarily require magical ability. There would certainly be students incapable of magic here to study these, with the same structure as the other levels.
  • Size. I imagine the college is bigger-more people, more room to hold them. I imagine the hall of the elements is separated into different floors with different classrooms, the first floor we all know and love being used for dangerous experiments that require the room. I imagine other rooms with desks, books, alembics, all of the stuff you imagine with magic and potions. There's more teachers, a handful for each school, with a Master wizard acting as the head of each school of magic taught.
  • Power. The school is big, it is necessary for skyrim to have the healers, alchemists, enchanters, and court wizards they depend on, even if they don't like magic it is a part of life. Most Jarls courts will have someone with connections to the college, and when magical events happen no one can figure out, they go to the college for help and understanding. The college doubles as a bastion to protect against magic, and skyrim very much needs it.
And with all that, what do I want to rp? Well, with these rules in place, I want to roleplay as students in this bigger, better college. You could be there for magic school, or you could be there for alchemy and etc with no magical ability, your choice. The main idea is were both students living and learning at the college, working in the adept level classes. We become friends, and in Harry Potter fashion, trouble finds us, and we have all sorts of adventures getting out of it. I will be male, likely a nord or elf, you can be whatever combination of race and gender you like.

I have class immediately after typing this, so forgive me if it takes time to reply to anyone interested.

I would really like to try this, lost likely as a Khajit. PM me, if you are interested.
