Gaea had been sharpening her sword in the armory for a long time. A really long time. It seemed her anxiety had given her a rush of nervous energy that she had decided to hone. Now her blade was like a mirror and when she lightly rested her hand on it left a red line of split skin. Great, another weapon to kill innocents with. She zoned out for a minute staring at the now bleeding line until shouts snapped her out of it. She hastily wiped her hand on her pants and grabbed the sword and its sheath before darting out of the room. There seemed to be bustle in the cafeteria, and Gaea waded through the group of people to see her brother holding the tiny freak. Well, seemed like he had everything under control.

"Quit looking around like a bunch of idiots and return to your duties. If you're going on the mission, be outside in ten minutes packed and ready to go or you'll be left and I'm sure the Queen will be quite unhappy." She didn't need to yell, but her voice carried and soon everyone quickly dispersed. Gaea turned to follow her brother who had the girl firmly in his grasp. Gaea glared at the hooded figure, thanking her brother silently in her head for his powers taking away hers. She didn't want to see visions of all her fears right in front of her and especially before a mission. Her brother looked like he was going to yell if she even breathed too loudly so she simply picked up her pace so she could walk alongside him but didnt say anything. The only thing that could be heard was the Constance's scuffling and their footsteps.

Isaac took Constance to get her things and Gaea went to the stables to give her horse a once over. She had to go to the very end where the rather large stable was and get out five carrots and a few apples before hardening her skin and entering the stall. She was immediately met with a loud neigh and a kick and was sent crashing into the wall. The other horses in the stalls started panicking andGaea grumbled as she picked herself up.

"You don't have to do this every morning you idiot, especially when im nice enough to get you food." Thankfully, the basket had remained intact and only a few apples had rolled out which she quickly collected before the horse stepped on them.

"Hurry up and eat." She put the basket in the middle of the floor and waited for the horse. The giant animal finally inched forwards and began to eat, glaring at Gaea as she began to get the saddle and all of her belongings on it.

Demon (very rightfully named) had been a colt when Gaea found him on a mission. His mother had been killed by one of her soldiers and it seemed like a waste to leave the baby. The horse seemed to be completely undomesticated - or maybe just very revengeful - and Gaea soon had to become its only caretaker. Many told her to kill the damn creature but Gaea shrugged it off. Can't get rid of something because it wont conform to you, right? Now she had a massive asshole of a horse who had tried killing her more times than her actual enemies.

She quickly got the horse ready while he was distracted by food. His reddish-brown coat shone in the light and Gaea was almost happy until he tried nipping her when she grabbed his reins. Would it be wrong to punch her horse?

She eventually managed to drag Demon out to the courtyard where the others were arriving. She could feel her nervousness coming back and gripping her but she shoved it down. It was just another mission.

The leaves of Autumn falling towards her face as she took in a deep breath of refreshing air. She was looking to the sky while laying upon the softest of grass, covered in a variety of colored leaves. She could see herself laying there with her eyes closed. She tried to open her eyes, but failed. It was as if she was the soul rising out of her body looking down on herself. She tried again to open her eyes, succeeding this time. She woke to a completely different environment, the floor was hard and cold, the room dark. She rose to her feet despite the pains of sleeping on a hard floor. “Where am I,” she asked herself. As if to answer her, the memories of yesterday flooded her mind.

Her name was Charlotte, her Queen was the reason she was alive, her job the reason she was here. She had been summoned by a rich family of Geneva for a medical house-call. Two of the children had gotten in an argument, which led to a fight, ending in a bite. Being a high class family of Geneva, they acquired Charlotte to come immediately. It was late in the day when Charlotte was told to come so when she arrived on horseback it was night time. She was escorted to the wounded child, who was screaming and crying. His wound was very minor, which annoyed Charlotte almost as much as the spoiled kids. She took the child’s bitten hand and healed it without much thought. The family insisted she stayed the night, in case she hadn’t fully healed the boy. They kindly let her sleep on the servants floor. As she laid on the cold, hard floor she wondered why her powers were being used for nothing, it was a waste of time and she wanted to do more. She told herself tomorrow she would ask one of the generals if she could do something meaningful.

Charlotte stood in the dark room, it was the morning and she decided to leave before the family awake. As she was leaving the house she saw a servant child staring at her. She slowly walked over to the child, who was sickly thin, and crouched over to stare her in the eyes. “What's the matter,” she asked the girl. The small girl handed an apple to Charlotte but didn't respond. Charlotte took the apple, “Are you sure?” The girl replied by nodding. Charlotte couldn't help smiling, why couldn't this had been the child she was sent to help. Charlotte stood up and started to walk out the door “Thank you, very much” she said before taking a bite of the apple. Charlotte left the house, wishing she could have helped the girl who reminded her of her younger self. Her starved self before the Queen saved her, and made her what she is today. She pushed the thought away and walked up to her silver horse. “Here, you deserve this” she fed the apple to her horse, she couldn't eat it she didn't deserve it.

She rode into the kingdom of Geneva as the sun hit the horizon only to find the courtyard full of others. It seemed like they were preparing for a mission, this was her chance to do something important. She managed to spot General Gaea among the crowd and started to approach her. “My General, I would like to attend this mission. I know it would be my first, possibly involving combat, but I'm ready. I want to do more for my Queen.” [div class="Line"][/div] Interacting: slim slim | Mentioned: N/A| Located: Courtyard [div class="Line" style="margin-bottom:0px;"][/div]

Aelin Camborium

Upon reaching the barracks, she found a few soldiers giving her strange looks, some of envy, some of distaste, and others of pure hate. It wasn’t unusual, most people made sure to distance themselves from Whisper’s like her, however few they were. And people knew she didn’t use her talents sparingly, showing off when she could. People made sure they kept a fair distance, lest they wanted to end up...ugly. Others simply didn’t like her cocky, vulgar personality.

She returned their spiteful stares cooly, a cocky grin only infuriating the some of the onlookers more as she walked down the hallway. The stares aren’t unusual, but the amount of people staring was. A strange, cold dread filled her, her cocky features fading. Something was going on.

Aelin locked stares with a brunette girl a few years younger than herself, her icy eyes glittering as she slipped into the young girl’s mind, as graceful as a falling feather and as venomous as a snake, she dug through the girl’s mind, her thoughts a layer, the very surface of her mind.

The girl was unaware as Aelin took a peak:

Bitch, she always gets the best missions, staring at me like I’m trash. She treats herself like she’s a damn queen. I could put her in her place.

Aelin smirked devilishly at the brunette, who’s green eyes narrowed in response. Her insulting thoughts bounced off Aelin. She’d faced worse than envious girl’s. But nonetheless, she needed to remind her not to try anything.

Aelin slid further into her thoughts, pushing past another boundary, and her presence was felt as she poked at memories, her presence like sharp talons, gently caressing the metal door to her memories, teasing and threatiningly.

The brunette girl yelped, eyes widening in fear and anger as she jolted back from Aelin, her back bumping back against the hard walls of the long corridor.

“Watch it!” The girl snapped angrily, though despite her angry features, she could detect the underlying tremor of fear in her voice and see the paleness of her features.

And just as easily as she’d entered the girl’s mind, she left it, giving the girl a cocky wink as she strode down the hall for her quarters, passing the cafeteria as she did so, and stopping at the sound of a familiar voice, Gaea’s. She peaked around the open doorway and into the cafeteria; spotting both Gaea’s face and a collection of others familiar faces. Gaea was barking at them, which was no suprise. But at least her orders have her insight on where she needed to be.

The room was lit with the orange dawn of daylight streaming into the room. Knowing her time was limited, Aelin quickly went to her room to pack, her roommates already long gone from the room, allowing her to undress in the open for once. She had no qualms about being seen naked, her body nothing short of lacking in any assets.

And yet...Aelin stood bare in the mirror, her front turned away so that her back faced the glass. Her head peering back at the reflection, her fingers tracing the long, gashing light pink scars that’s covered her back entire.

Those scars marked that she was human, and not in fact a weapon. It was her embarrassment, her shame, and her secret relief. Relief that she could be weak, vulnerable, and in so, not an indestructible weapon. It was her only ways to question, every time she killed another person, if monsters were born, or if they were created.

She dressed into her fitting, black leather armor that was suited for just about anything. A poison tipped blade in her black leather boots that could be activated with just the right technique and pressure, along with soles that were perfect for rogue terrain and climbing, hidden blades under the steel guards that protected her wrists, engraved with gold spiral designs, the rest of her form fitting leather armor black. Aelin herself in the mirror for the briefest moment before fastening the gold clip of her black cloak around her form, leaving the hood down. She strapped her sharpened, long silver daggers to each side of her hips before packing othe essential items and leaving her quarters behind once more with a silent click as she closed the door.

With each step toward the stables, the more dread that seemed to fill her, weighing down on her spirits heavily, her attitude became colder, harsher, bitter with each cold breath of air she took in from the cold weather, the smell of dew mixing with the smell of old hay and horse crap, bringing a scowl to her face as she approached the stables.

And even as she came across the largey muscled dappled gray stallion that snorted almost in greeting upon her approach, she found herself bitter, a wall of ice lumped around her heart.

She ignored Gaea’s nearby presence, focused on readying her own horse instead. Storm was a rather temperamental horse, but he and Aelin were both wild and untamed in a sense, and he read her movements as if he could read her mind, the horse and herself sharing a close bond. She readied her horse both quickly affectionally, perhaps the only creature she showed genuine kindness too. She watched Gaea leave the stables with her horse out of the corner of her eyes, likely towards the courtyard. Her nimble, callused hands gently and affectionally touched Storms’s face, who leaned into her touch, bringing her some small comfort in the sure bloodshed that was soon to come. He too, knew battle and death more than anything else. She wondered if he ever remembered the dead’s bodies and faces. The blood.

She wondered if you ever stopped seeing their faces.

"...So we's can't goofs off 'ere, even though no real work?" disappointingly, yet with a twingle of resentment, remarked a much larger boy; this was not a mere boy a man built like a barn with a face like a pig dressed in some shabby - but not completely worn out attire. Engorged nostrils let out a large snort as the bulging bug like eyes stared down at the 'Boy Quartermaster', his lips puckering into a frown as he began clutching both hands in and out of fists.

Nathaniel gave a slow nod, clutching the bridge of his nose for a moment. "Yes." Breathing out Nate placed his palms together as he pointed towards the larger boy, "Look, Chester, it is tempting yes - to waste our supplies since 'hey we can sleep when we want, so why can't we eat when we want'. I get it." Nate did not get it, the twitching of his eyebrow was certain to throw that to any viewers who were watching. "Buuut, that's du-" Nathaniel could see that the word choice he was prepared to use, as after all this was an order on his part from Commander to remind the men, was causing the brutish man of the squad Chester to begin rocking back and forth with both of his hands clutched into a fist. Nate let out a distinctive gulp as he began sweating down his brow.

"Er w-what I was g-gonna say..." stammered Nathaniel as he looked around before continuing on, "Ill-advised and does not speak to the value you have in the Unit, it makes you seem less. And of course it is Commander's Order. I am relaying the message, do you understand?" The behemoth just stared at Nathaniel, while tilting his head. He was not quite sure of whether or not Nate was speaking correctly; as for Nathaniel his eyebrow continued to twitch as he began rubbing his temple as to pry his mind for another answer. Figuring out the answer he sought, Nate smiled as he looked towards Chester.

"Obey this Order and we can get back to where we belong sooner." Of course this was a bold-faced lie as he had no idea of how long their unit was to be stationed back in the throes of civilization and away from their fine-tuned niche in the boonies. However, this lie was acceptable to Chester who gave an eager smile and a nod and began to trod off to inform even more of the Anti-Bandit Squad of Nate's message. Of course Nate delivered a few messages before, but each one tended to have a favorite among their unit who they were more willing to listen to - besides the Commander of course. Nate grumbled out something as he began to head off to the courtyard as a larger task was to be given. This was not his primary task of course, but it was a task that he needed to follow as well.

And so the Boy Quartermaster settled in among the crowd, choosing a relatively nondescript location in the midst of them to conduct his surveillance which he was tasked - along some extracurricular analyses - and to avoid being singled out if there was any chance of being sent into the front lines. Nathaniel was sure as shit not going to go out as the vanguard and he would make damn well sure no matter where this mission was, he would stay relatively safe.

Stroking the gentle horses she hummed softly, loving the strong muscles and warmth she felt against their skin. She felt at ease next to something so sturdy, in truth it made her miss the stables. Making her wonder how Bud was doing. Rosebud, Bud as she often calls him, is her chestnut Clydesdale horse. As a colt he was gifted to her after she helped a farmer clear up his land when the farmer was short on workers. Rosalina didn't expect such a gift, but she loved him deeply and he was the best and most trustworthy steed. They had a lot in common, she gave a faint laugh as she thought about what But was thinking, knowing full well he was the restless type like herself. Maybe I should take him out today. He's probably brooding and itching to get out and drag some logs or practice high jumping. Giggling softly as she knew that's exactly how he'd think.

As the door from the dining hall opened it caught her attention she looked up to see Issac coming out of the dining hall. Her whole aura lightened as she got to see him, she had loads of questions. Raising her hand she went to wave and call out him, only to stop as she noticed a black object being dragged behind him. Is...is that a person? Cocking her head ever so slightly she gave a worried smile but waved either way. Trying to think on what that thing could possibly be she had to say its Constance. Feeling a bit sorry for Issac, Rosalina knew just how strange Constance can be. However, when she's left to her own devices she's not much trouble.

Noticing Gaea come out of the dinning hall as well she stiffened and stood at attention for the other general. Her form a bit off at the sudden change, but was glad to see that she didn't seem to notice. Relaxing as she passed by Rosalina watched as she made her way into the stables. I suppose something is actually going on. I'm glad I geared up for practice but still, I wonder what it could be? Pausing to consider what could be going on she gave up, if I can lend my services to them for my goddess the Queen then I shall do so. Besides if I'm not needed, Rosebud and I can get some training done ourselves. Following some of the others she noticed Charlotte speaking with general Gaea about joining the mission. Watching the interaction she as at least picking up what was going on. So there is a mission today. I guess I missed the announcement. Though it is strange that the generals to keep it so quiet. Maybe this is only for the spy group.

Watching Aelin enter the stables as well, face brightening in excitement she moved a bit quicker. Finally a ally who can hopefully tell me what's going on! Entering the stables herself, she looked over to see Alein in the stall with her horse Storm. Gracefully bounding up to her she smiled at the woman, "Good morning Alein. How are you and Storm doing? Well I hope?" Noticing the small furrow in her brow Rosalina changed to a more calming tone as she continued. "Are you alright? Worried about the mission? I'm not sure what it entails today. Is it anything bad?"

Silent. Creep. Step step step. Constance only had to pass the training man, only pass the scary training man. Heart pittering faster with every movement, she crept along as the light bent around her making her invisible. The horror of being caught by the tall golden eyed brother of the training man ate at the back of her mind. The sound of sharp teeth gnawing and gnashing against her ear resonated through her mind as her steps began to falter and sawy. Small bits of reddened flesh embedded within drool began to run down her cheek with the patter of her feet. Eyes darting around her eyes paying close attention to the training man. Breathing raggedly she was so close, one, two, three steps.

"Urr..." Life sapped from her blurring eyes as the cold hard floor cascaded closer to her head. Blood draining from the veins, tepid skin draining of warmth, the void calling closer, darkness, empty. Then in an instant her body floated up, feeling her esophagus slowly compressing, bliss covered her body. Sharp nails pierced her skull as the bread rolled up atop her head. Her organs curled against one another twisting and writhing against the thin separation of her flesh. Simply needing a sharp amount of pressure of something sharp to all come bursting out. Limp above the ground the proximity brought about those tingles like a hot poker.

A sharp tingling sensation shot through her body and a low gurgling emanated from the dark hood. Lines of thick twine barred the vision between Constance and the outside world. Screams and buzzing stabbed through the mind, like kife piercing the skull, over and over and over again. His heart pounding along side the screams and buzzing her nose wriggled. Training man's scent began to enter into the limp body as a eerie sound escaped her mouth. "Grah...heee...he..." Eyes rolling back till the empty crystal reamined. The scent of a sibling, so close, closer, deep deeper into the skin, knife, deeper. "Heee he heee..."

Dropped from heaven and back to the floor Constance crumbled, unmoving onto the floor, paralyzed. Tongue rolling around as sharp nails stabbed against her. Dragged along with ease the changes in terrain didn't affect the lifeless doll Issac dragged behind him. Flesh of a siblings, tasty flesh... Constance didn't retrieve her consciousness as he dragged her away and into the armory. Skin grating against the floor a soft trail of crimson began to form behind the dragged corpse as rocks pierced and tore at the think flesh revealing the redness underneath.

Cyrus: the Oblivion
The sun rose above the dense forest off the eastern side of the training grounds, light streaming across a small camp. Two ‘tents’ sat near each other, connected by a line of rope. The inhabitants of the tents were nowhere to be found.

:::
“Faster!” a voice rang out, accompanied by a thump and yelp. “That hurt!” Cyrus complained, narrowing his eyes at his mentor, Kulane. “Should have been faster,” the older man replied sharply, then hurled another stone at his charge. Cyrus threw up his hand, zeroing in on the missile. As soon as his nimble pointer finger brushed the stone, it exploded outward.

Dust slapped Cyrus on his cheek, and he bounced back, pivoting as his telky mentor sent two more stones flying at him. Cyrus merely slapped them away, sending slivers of stone shooting into tree trunks. He danced nimbly between missiles, each stone or boulder exploding like a detonator. Then, the flow of stones stopped. Cyrus looked over his shoulder in surprise, only to be even more surprised by a log flying at his face. This is it. I’m dead, he thought, before his arms, almost subconsciously, shot up to intercept the large chunk of wood as his gut wrenched.

Cyrus gasped, dropping to a knee as he stared at his handiwork. What remained of the log was two stumps, mangled by his explosion. Exhilaration built up in his chest, and he almost let put a squeak of happiness, but he reined his excitement in. Cyrus had never been able to split the log. A quiet cough drew his attention.

“Good,” was all that Kulane said.
:::
He sucked in a breath as he rode, the silence driving between him and his mentor. His horse, Kicker, making the only noise as he snorted. Finally, Kulane spoke.

“I decided to let you go with the others,” he began. Cyrus swallowed his bubbling excitement yet again, listening intently to Kulane’s words. “You will learn from your brothers and sisters of the knighthood, and fight valiently for the Queen.” His words seemed almost bored. “I did well in my last battle-“ he said, only to be cut off by the older man. “It was only a skirmish, and you only felled twenty others.”

Cyrus frowned. I had not nearly as much training as now, and that’s still twenty less mongrels who choose not to accept our Mother. The pair drew up to the stables, and Cyrus urged Kicker forward. “Bye, Kulane,” he added over his shoulder.

Cyrus dismounted his young bay battlehorse, stroking Kicker’s white forehead and leading him to his stall. He tied the steed to the holding pen, then spotted non else but Rosalina. She was about the only one he had gotten close with, as they had linked a couple of years ago for training. He trotted up to the older girl, a subdued smile gracing his features. “I’m coming with you all,” he said.

Aelin Camborium

She was deep in her thoughts as she mounted her pack of essentials on Storms saddle, but it didn’t stop her from feeling, and hearing, footsteps approach from her right. Aelin pretended not to notice. The last thing she wanted was some idiot to distract her from her current task.

But a rather, familiar cheery voice broke her peaceful silence. Aelin glanced to her right with her typical slightly annoyed features, ice blue eyes honing in on her friend, who bombarded her with a series of questions regarding the mission.

Rosalina was, by far, the most beautiful woman she’d ever seen, a step down from the Queen. With dark, ruby red hair and bright silver eyes, it wouldn’t be a shock to her if Rosa caught many’s eyes. She was almost surprised In truth, that she was not seeing anybody, or perhaps, like herself, she was, and had her own secret lover as well.

Aelin wouldn’t dare admit she found herself envious of Rosaline at times. Aelin shifted her weight unto her hip, where she propped an arm on, looking as arrogant as ever she replied, “I’m tired as all’s hell,” she complained, lying about what was really bothering her, though it wasn’t entirely a lie. She’d been up since the early hours after all.

Aelin glanced out towards the courtyard where Gaea had went, grimacing. “I’m not sure what it is, the bastards haven’t given me a god damn clue about the mission.” She said blantly, the sun almost seemingly reflecting off her golden hair as she ran a gloved hand through her waves, encased in black, flexible leather.

She turned back to Rosaline, her black cloak rippling at the movement. “It’s all very secret,” she said dryly, the faintest of a smirk on her lips, she shrugged, “but they’re picking the best of us, which means it’s big, lots of people to kill.” She stated coolly, her smirk fading as she watching a figure behind Rosaline approach, her eyes narrowing.

Aelin glanced between the two as the man stated he was accompanying them on the mission, ignoring her presence entirely as he spoke solely to Rosaline.

“And who the hell is this?” She asked dryly not sparing a glance towards the stranger, her expression as cold as ice. Aelin’s cursing certainly wasn’t a rare occurrence, in fact, it was almost suspicious when she didn’t curse aloud. Her treatment towards strangers was hardly different as well, cold and harsh towards newcomers whenever the opportunity arose. Trust was hard earned with Aelin, and even then she never fully trusted someone. Her kindness was just as hard to obtain.

To keep everyone an arms length away, was for the better.

Persephone had finished her breakfast, and was on her way back to the barracks when she was stopped. General Gaea hadn't told her anything, and neither had Isaac. So, it was a fantastic thing that someone had come and told her. It was her sparring partner from yesterday as well, someone of higher rank than herself. Persephone only nodded, now headed to the barracks for a different reason than trying to get a few more minutes of extra sleep. Once there, she quickly gathered what she would need, putting on the lightweight black leather cheats piece and cloak that was about half the length of a typical one. As she as pulling her hair out of the hood, flipping it out so it was sitting comfortably, her fi gers would brush ober the slightly raised area on the side of her neck that was her Queen's mark. Showing off she was nothing but a loyal dog. She quickly sighed, and grabbed her rucksack.

The stables were alive, the generals and many familiar faces roaming about, getting ready for the mission. Persephone would silently walked past them, she headed for her horse. A white stallion, hostile to anyone that wasn't her, Hayalet was a beast of loyalty and strength, he lit up when he saw her. She chuckled, leading him out of his pen, she began to pet him, whispering things in a language not many people knew, but it's where his name would come from. Soft touches and gentle words always calmed him down when he got to excited, and it had been a while since she had last taken him out, she would just focus on him for now, until forced to pay attention to the generals, or anyone else who would try and talk to her.

Rosalina considered Aelin one her closests friends, the two of them certainly knew each other as they trained together often. However, the duo truly grew close during their off time, sharing a love of literature, music and dance. She loved spending time bettering her intellectual self alongside Aelin, it certainly brought them closer together. Aelin was so smart, beautiful and talented that Rosalina couldn't help, but be a bit jealous. Yet through spending time together, Aelin certainly made her a better person and for that she considered a close and great friend. There was only the Queen to thank for getting to know such a person, even if Aelin had a bit of a cold shoulder.

“I’m tired as all’s hell,”

Rosalina gave a coy smile as she mused playfully. "You know most people who wake up early tend to be cheerful Aelin." Following her gaze her smile grew a bit fainter as she looked towards Gaea. Hearing her speak out Rosalina understood what her friend was feeling. Most relationships between the generals and the rest of the children were more than a bit shallow. Even Rosalina had to admit that she had a hard time understanding those twins sometimes. Closing her eyes she let out a soft sigh as she turned her head back to look at Aelin. Her smile returning as she saw just how beautiful Aelin was. Her golden hair and deep eyes were mesmerizing, she was a true beauty. Compared to her, Rosalina felt a bit too exotic, her hair and eye color strange and unfamiliar to those around her.

Meeting her eyes she noticed the faint smirk on her lips as she shrugged and continued. Rosalina's interest was peaked as she heard that meant there would be a lot of people to kill. Her eyes shined with the prospect of being able to practice her sequence after all. "Really? Well I hope so. There's that graveyard sequence I've been wanting to practice. But I can never find the chance to gather so many weapons." Noticing her friend's eyes shifting to someone behind her Rosalina turned around to see Cyrus.

"Cyrus!" Her whole face lighted up as she called out to her young brother. Straightening up she smiled warmly at him. "What brings you here?"

“I’m coming with you all,” he said.

As he replied for a moment Rosalina was a bit confused only to realize what he meant. Clapping her hands together excitedly she beamed with excitement. "You were approved?! That's fantastic!" Reaching out she hugged Cyrus to her chest as Aelin spoke up. Stroking his adorable head she pouted ever so slightly as she looked over at her dearest friend.

"Come now Aelin, this is our little brother Cyrus." Seeing the blank and disinterested face of her friend she let out a sigh. Knowing full well that Aelin meant no ill will she wa simply a bit cautious when it comes to others. Letting her darling little Cyrus go she took a step back and stroked his head gently as she spoke. Looking down at him with a proud and kind voice she praised him. "Truly Cyrus, this is wonderful. I knew your hardwork and skills would shine through. I'm very proud of you, and am excited to have you fight alongside all of us."

Pausing for a moment she took in how truly proud she was of this young man. She'd watch him grow into such a commendable child, it was amazing to have the opportunity to see him grow. She was truly blessed by the Queen to have such a wonderful life. Her attention being brought back to the present she lifted her had and rested it against her cheek. "Oh! Have you eaten yet?! If you're going on a mission you should go with a full belly. It will give you energy to fight mercilessly." She said with a bright grin.

TIMESKIP

“My General, I would like to attend this mission. I know it would be my first, possibly involving combat, but I'm ready. I want to do more for my Queen.”
The girl's words snapped Gaea out of yet another dazed state and the general quickly cleared her throat and focused on the girl before her.

"You can come along if you get ready quickly. We move out soon, so I advise you run." Demon let out a whinny if agreeing with his owner, and Gaea urged him along. Much to her annoyance, not everyone seemed to be quite as ready as her.

She waited much longer then she originally stated, and she made sure to chew the entire unit out. Honestly, they hated her for yelling but what did they expect with this lack of effort? She counted everyone, making sure Charlotte was there before signaling the group to ride off. There was nothing better than running off towards the horizon, nothing except the sound of hooves relaxing her mind. Peace before the storm.

____

On average, the ride to the ruins was about two days with two rest periods a day and setting up camp for the night. Gaea didn't want to push the horses but she understood the urgency of the mission. The Queen was patient, but it thinned very quickly. They'd probably be back home in a mere week if there wasn't anything there just like Gaea expected. She had visited the ruins before on scouting missions. There was nothing more than bare rocks, weeds, crumbled foundations of once majestic buildings, and lots of mountain goats. So why did the Queen keeprequesting scouting missions up there?
Gaea continued to ponder the entire mission. It loomed in her mind the closer they got and soon she felt like she was going to explode. By the time the group drew close to the ruins, Gaea felt like she was going to yell at someone, and so she immediately secured Demon's reins to a tree and set up up her bedroll and began to work on the fire. The air was much more chilly up here and she kept her furs huddled around her as she went into the forest. She hardened her arm so she could punch branched of the trees off with a satisfying crunch and hauled them back to the camp. The others seemed to be settling in and Gaea wished she could calm down as well, but her surroundings troubled her. The stifling silence of the ruins could creep out anyone.

The fire soon was started and Gaea begun to relax. Rations were passed out and Gaea remarked that some hunting would be needed. She'd probably have Hund do that tomorrow morning. She noticed Isaac ad realized she hadn't spoken to him in days, besides a few words exchanged about who was on watch and other issues. When they made eye contact, Gaea beckoned him over to where she was sitting next to the fire. She wasn't sure what to say for a few moments. Small talk had never been her strong point, but neither was talking in general.

"We haven't been up here on a mission in forever. Our village is actually pretty close. I'd say half a day's ride." She didn't know why she said the last part. It was a sad and distant memory she recalled that served no purpose. It was like making a small incision into a giant scar and hoping it didnt open up further.

"Hurry it along! The faster we set up camp, the faster we get some rest!" The Male general barked out to the soldiers. Naturally, Isaac led by example as he usually did and was unloading the heavier supplies from the wagons. He was no strongarm but he was definitely stronger than most. Years of grueling conditioning to keep up with a stone skinned, combat talented twin would do that to you.

Thankfully, the grunts took his words seriously and were well on their way to being set up properly for the night. He breathed a light sigh and let some of that tension out of his shoulders. The permanent hitch that came with having thousands of lives riding on your ability. He surveyed the area carefully for any potential hazards and his search came up satisfactory.

So, it was time to relax until first watch was up. Normally, people in Isaac's position would never stay up for guard duty but having one of the generals participating was always a good thing. At least, in his eyes and in the eyes of the men under his direct command.

Speaking of eyes, Isaac found a pair of golden ones identical to his own watching him. He arched an eyebrow in question before Gaea beckoned him over towards the fire. The siblings were never very talkative. Even with each other. But something was grating on Gaea's nerves. Isaac knew that even if no one else did.

When Gaea spoke, Isaac's expression immediately turned stone cold. He hated remembering their village. Their home. Not because the memories were bad but because it reminded him of how weak he was. He was barely able to keep himself alive, nevermind his twin. She had carried Isaac through those harsh months of despair and while he was grateful, it was also his greatest shame. Even in the army, it's like he was always trying to catch up as opposed to walking side by side.

Isaac grunted his agreement, "Mmm. Not one of our proudest moments."

'Especially for me'

The dancing embers of the fire reflected eerily in the young man's eyes. A fact he noticed when he turned to look at Gaea and saw how it appeared, "Is everything alright, Sis?" Isaac asked in a hushed tone. Rarely did he ever refer to the woman in the affectionate way he used to as children but it showed that he was worried about her, "Something has been on your mind for days now."

Cyrus: the Oblivion
Cyrus tilted his head, gazing up at Rosalina with soft eyes. His Sister always provided him with a feeling of warmth, gratitude, and love, though not close to as much as he recieved from their Mother the Queen. Rosa’s approval always made his disposition soar like a hawk, and some days he felt like flying to the moon and past.

Although he was happy to be accepted by Rosalina, he knew that others would not be as excited to be sharing their experiences with him. After all, he was the youngest of the group, with far less training than the “old timers” like Captain Isaac and his sister. Cyrus’s worries were proved very quickly, as a beautiful lady who had been nearby Rosa snapped out a couple of angry words asking for his identity. He stepped back a little, his brow furrowed as he looked her over, immediately recognizing her features. Camborium. Whisper. So this was the lady Kulane had taught him about. Aelin, the feared female who had become a honed weapon of his Mother. She was dangerous, all right.

His lessons with Kulane kicked in, and he threw up mental walls throughout his mind, leaving his trivial memories and most of his training unguarded, yet locking down his walls around his close lessons and techniques. He could never be too careful around a whisper. Cyrus allowed his sister to take over for him, all the while avoiding eye contact with Aelin and biting his lip to keep his focus on the inside of his mind.

Rosa’s exclamation about nourishment almost caught Cyrus off guard. He looked up again, managing to stammer out his response. “I-I ate already, with Kulane,” he said, drifting a little closer to Rosa. “I should be going. Kicker is waiting to go, and I need to ready him,” he added, before wrapping his arms around his sister’s torso. As he left, Cyrus made eye contact with Aelin. “Pleased to meet you, sister.”
:::
Kicker was indeed restless. As Cyrus tried to brush him down, the horse kept stomping and tossing his head. He smiled at his mount’s energy, as he too felt it in the shaking of his fingers and his inability to focus somehow. His first real mission! He would prove himself in every way, whether it be running messages or fighting.

Cyrus made it a point to ride near Rosalina, trying to stay behind the two generals who led the force. Kicker seemed to have other plans, as he would often surge forward, wanting to be in the front. When the group stopped, Cyrus was exhausted. His mount had all the energy in the world, so Cyrus dropped his pack on the dirt and slipped away for a bit atop his horse.

The pair rode around the campsite for a bit, taking a look around before returning. Cyrus had managed to collect some logs, and planned to use them to explain himself if anybody wondered about his absence. With Kicker finally calm, he could relax as well. Cyrus tied his steed up, chucking him an apple before returning to the group around the fire.

Cyrus snagged a ration and made himself comfortable by his pack. He chewed on some strips of dried meat that he had packed for himself along with the rations, then surveyed his equipment. His knives were sharp and the contents of his pack were in place. Then, he remembered the logs he had gotten. He tried to be inconspicuous as he dropped his logs and slunk away behind the General Isaac and his sister. The pair seemed deep in conversation.

Mercury

Spending a bit of bonding time with Umbra before the mission proved to be a wise decision on Mercury's part. He had made a quick detour to his room to organise his pack, gather his weapons, and change into his light armour and a black, hooded cloak for the trip; after which he went to see what mood his new stubborn steed was in today. There was no time for dallying, made clear by General Gaea's loathsome shouting, so as soon as Mercury entered the stable he focused on his sable Friesian horse rather than any others present in the area. While he could use a multitude of words to describe his horse's personality and appearance, Mercury would really just describe her as a bitch through and through - he bet that she looked like a bitch to other horses to be quite honest. Although, that said a lot when Umbra's headstrong nature matched his own. As Mercury was swiftly becoming used to, the horse seemed to make an even bigger fuss than the last time they interacted and he was thankful that he had a small bit of extra time to get her under control. Afterwards, he saddled her up, loaded his equipment and personal supplies onto her, before setting off with the generals and the rest of the team assigned to this task.

***

Throughout the journey towards the ruins Mercury had kept mostly to himself, he had a few casual conversations with others but mostly concentrated on building a stronger relationship with Umbra as he usually did on his first couple of missions with a new steed. It was important to have a sturdy foundation of trust for when it came time to actually rely on her in a tough situation. As they got further and further away from the city the air grew colder, the winds harsher, and night seemed to creep in on you quicker. Mercury was unfazed by any weather conditions thrown at him, he wasn't exactly a big fan of the cold though. The way the wind sometimes whipped around him in more extreme terrain reminded him of the lashings he received as a small child specifically, when he was innocent and hadn't yet fully lost his naivety. Those are the only times he actually remembers the cane hurting - all other occasions were necessary punishments that he frankly couldn't distinguish between.

When the group drew closer to the ruins and the generals resolved it was time to setup camp for the night, Mercury pitched Umbra by the other horses, giving her a pat and some oats, before claiming a space for his bedroll a little ways from where the fire was started. He much preferred resting his head at a comfortable distance from the others rather than keeping nice and toasty by the warm fire, it was a habit he had formed years ago that he had yet to break. Strolling back towards the fire, Mercury scanned around camp, at the various faces and pockets of conversations going on and wondered if this mission was going to be any of their last. It was a sombre thought but it reminded him of one of the reasons why he didn't get attached to people, it was just another weakness waiting to be exploited. Mercury grabbed some rations when they were handed out and sat by the fire, chewing on a strip of dried meat as he took a few moments to relax for once.

Silence was a virtue that many people seemed to lack.

The entire journey up was god-awful for Yysara. The bitter winds and cold air hardly bothered the woman. In fact, she seemed to smirk to herself whenever someone whined of a particularly cold burst of wind. No -- It was the entire group that brought upon her sour mood. Majority of her work was done alone, yet she was forced to ride alongside just about every other pathetic soldier there was. A certain gremlin had been picked up and taken along with them, but surely she was just for comedic relief. Of course, Yysara wasn't laughing. The girl never laughed unless someone else was receiving a painful jolt. Then again, everyone could be seen as a gremlin in her eyes. Some just had an upturned nose that surely helped the title become more believable. Sticking to the end of the group during the duration of journey, anyone unfortunate enough to look back was met with her fierce gaze. She had to send a proper message; The message being that if they dare rode close enough to her, their horse may just end up with a broken leg. She already had to listen to them constantly speak to each other. Who the hell could possibly stomach that much conversation, and actually be interested in it all? The thought was simply revolting to her.

By the time they arrived, Yysara had all but faded away from the group. Just listening to people speak had practically exhausted the girl, so there was no way in hell she was going help them set up. They had brought along enough bullheaded soldiers for that, and it even seems one of the generals was stepping up. At least he was slowly discovering the sort of work that would suit him best. A snide snicker left the back of her throat, but she was too far off for anyone to pick it up. Even then, would anyone truly believe such a noise came from Yysara? When she was forced to interact with others, every emotion but contempt seemed to fade away. Though she personally found herself hilarious, others just simply weren't smart enough to appreciate her humor. Shame they were such bubbling idiots.

When the fire had begun and people were starting to set up bedrolls, Yysara finally emerged from the shadows. She had been clinging to the edge of camp to avoid unneeded looks, as even those got tiring. She had been silently making her way over to the perfect spot to set up her own resting area, before a young soldier began to place down his sheet. Watching him in stunned silence, Yysara felt a bit of rage bubble up in her gut. Did he really just lay down his mat where she was supposed to be? Her first instinct was to grab his own sheet and wrap it around his neck to choke him out, but a bit of public humiliation would have to do instead. Snatching up the bedroll from the spot Mercury had rested it, it was soon felt pulled over his head. A firm shove was delivered to his back, though Yysara was quick to dig her fingers into his shoulders to prevent him from fully toppling over. A hissing voice was heard in his ear, one he likely knew from around the camp.

"Do not put your filthy bed where I am going to sleep. It's already bad enough I have to look at you."

Oh yes, Mercury had done it. He had managed to capture the attention of Yysara, though in the worst way possible. Was it even possible to charm his way out of this when she was mostly considered insane by the others?

Mercury

As Mercury was swiftly going to learn, some people needed to have the definition of 'personal space' laid out to them in simpler terms so that the infinitesimal amount of brainpower they possessed could process it. He had been grinding pieces of dried meat between his teeth, minding his own business as he eavesdropped on the odd conversation around camp, when a bag or blanket or something was pulled over his head. Initially, Mercury considered perhaps this was only somebody joking with him because infighting between soldiers was greatly frowned upon by the generals, however, the voice laced with venom in his ear quickly made him realise what was going on here. The shove and harsh burying of fingers into his shoulder was courtesy of Yysara, one of the few individuals most people in the army avoided like the plague. Many thought she was insane and you couldn't blame them, she was a special kind of fucked up. Mercury simply found her all the more fascinating because of how the others behaved around her; being the one to piece together the puzzle that she made up was almost a challenge to him. Yysara wouldn't let anybody close and that piqued his interest further, surely someone like that has something to hide and he yearned to discover what it was.

The sudden intrusion didn't cause Mercury to panic or become angered - as it took a lot to rouse more extreme reactions from him - instead he calculated what course of action he would take to spin the situation into his favour. Obviously, Yysara didn't really see him as any sort of real threat and normally received the same responses from people that she victimised like this: fear, alarm, or stupidity. He could use that to his advantage. Using quick decision-making and fast movements, Mercury launched his hands up behind him, grabbing one of Yysara's arms and tugging it over his shoulder with force so he could use the momentum to flip her onto her back in front of him. She landed with a loud thud beside the fire, causing a small gust of dirt and gravel to scatter around her from the impact as the flames danced a bit more flamboyantly. He pulled what he would acknowledge as his bedroll from off his head, his hair looking slightly disheveled, and knelt beside the deranged blood healer.

Looking at Yysara upside down, one corner of Mercury's lips was pulled up his cheek as if by a fish hook into a devilish smirk. "We could just share," he uttered, resting an arm on his knee and maintaining eye contact with her. He paused and watched the orange of the fire stretch across her eyes like how the sun painted its warmth over the sky every morning, letting the annoyance he knew she would be feeling fester for several seconds. "You know, you wouldn't have to look at me and I could keep you warm, it's a win-win scenario. Maybe if you apologise for your little stunt then I would consider it." Mercury teased.

The look of shock that overtook her visage was something many people would pay to see.

When her back slammed into the ground and the wind was more or less knocked from her lungs, Yysara could only stare upward with a shocked gaze at Mercury. His sly and snarky comments were well heard, though they weren't exactly well-received. Who the hell was he to think he could say such things to her?! Not to mention that he actually touched her. Luckily, her longer sleeves had prevented any contact of their skin. If that happened, she'd simply have to kill him. Unfortunate, but not much of a net loss in the end. Even while these thoughts ran rampant in her head, the shocked expression was all she could muster. Her jaw was loosened up a bit, giving her the look of a fish gasping for air. The fire easily lit up her pale eyes, giving them the appearance of a burning sea. It was definitely something, to see Yysara without the permanent scowl that graced her features. Instead of an angry bitch, she looked rather young. Rather innocent, in fact.

Of course, that only lasted about five seconds as she collected herself. The moment she had a grasp on what the hell just happened, the pissed off mug slapped back into place like a rubber band. While some may find his little comments humorous, Yysara was on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. In fact, she was so far off the spectrum, that it simply didn't exist anymore. A snarl pulled at her lips, before her soft voice rasped out in an angry tone. "You pig oaf! How dare you lay your fingers on me, and say such vile things!" Even if she was exclaiming her words, it was like a hushed whisper. Her elbows shifted to brace under her, and soon she had pushed herself back onto her feet in no time. Though most would stop to brush the dirt clean from their bodies, Yysara could care less about that.

She had more important dirty things to deal with.

With speed, her body turned and lunged into his. With him on his knee and all, she had hoped to easily knock the man off balance and onto his back. Instead of moving to pin his arms down, she instead sat on his stomach. Her free arm was brought up towards her lips, before she firmly bit into her own skin. Blood was quick to leak through the delicate wound, but the next feat was surely more impressive. Only letting it bead up for a moment, it suddenly shot forward like a spike from her wrist. Similar to the blade of a stiletto dagger, the blood would harden instantly so she could place the pointed tip against his throat. Though only liquid moments ago, the still warm blade was as sharp as any other. It was her speciality, and just about everyone knew it.

Staring down at him, her eyes were wide. Her hair had been more or less knocked from the ponytail she wore, leaving strands poking out in all directions. Insane? Oh, she looked it. But there was just one tiny detail that many would miss if they weren't staring directly up at her.

The small blush had worked its way onto her cheeks. Pink and gentle, it was visibly against her pale skin up close.

Location: Camp
Mentions/Interactions: Amara ( Dear Mrs. Psycho Dear Mrs. Psycho )

Jamie was losing his patience a lot quicker than the last mission he went with the army. It would have been so much quicker to send an elite team then the whole unit. There was unnecessary banter, knocking into each other (horse and man), and childish pranks. All of which caused delays on their way to the ruin. He noticed some soldiers had rough relationships with their stead or some were too close for comfort. Whereas Jamie would describe his relationship with Chrome as professional. They were both quiet and beautiful in their own right. Chrome was named after his golden shine on his short brown coat. They had this silent understanding of each other and seemed to treat the other with respect. As the general decided to set up camp, Jamie slowly brought Chrome to the other horses, giving the tall stead a pat on its' neck and a flicker of a smile. The golden horse seemed to acknowledge with a quick snort and turned to drink water with the rest; almost as if dismissing Jamie.

The young soldier swiftly joined the rest of the men and women, setting up his tent and area for the night. He was further out from the fire than the rest, the cold didn't bother him anyway and he'd preferred the still night under the stars. On the other side of camp, he could see a scuffle already happening. People just couldn't keep their hands off each other. Jamie recognised the light blonde as Yysara and the scruffier male as Mercury. His eyes didn't linger on them for long, whatever argument they had between them can be kept between them. The general called him over, giving him the task of the first watch for the night with another fellow soldier. The stoic teen nodded and proceeded to grab his patrol partner.

As soon as he was within earshot of the young woman, Jamie called out to her. "Amara." He continued once the brunette turned her attention towards him. "We're on first watch. Finish setting up and let's go." Since Jamie didn't have the chance to fully get some rest, he still had his armour and sword by his waist. He doesn't know his comrades all that well, let alone Amara. So he hoped that she won't make patrolling a pain or be a hindrance. His face held no emotion as he spoke and waited for her to be ready.

Mercury

If only Mercury had a painter on hand to capture the prized expression of utter shock that had adorned Yysara's face. It was truly marvellous. Frankly, such a piece would have been worth a lot given the rarity in which you would catch the pale woman regarding an individual with anything other than disdain. This brief drop in her usual demeanour only amplified the smugness that Mercury was already bound to be feeling at turning the tables, if messing with her would prove to be this fun then he would be sure to do it more often. Alas, the spectacle was over sooner than he had hoped and an all too familiar scowl returned to its rightful place upon Yysara's face as if it had never left. She didn't appear to appreciate his humour in the slightest and it made for quite the amusing rebuke, especially provided the soft voice that the words were spat out with. If Mercury didn't know any better, he wouldn't take her seriously, but he wasn't stupid and knew what she was capable of.

Slightly leaning backwards, Mercury watched with a humoured look decorating his features as Yysara propped herself onto her elbows and then hastily pushed herself to her feet. He tilted his head to the side a tiny bit as he pondered just what she was going to do, he wouldn't put it past her to react in some drastic fashion despite the potential consequences for doing so. Still, Mercury wasn't an eye and can't say he saw being speared to the ground coming - Yysara was nimble, he had to give her that at least. He grunted as he fell onto his back and she instantly planted herself on top of his stomach, before he knew it she had brought her arm up to her mouth and bit into her own skin. In the next instance, there was a razor-sharp dagger made of blood practically tickling his throat and he admittedly found himself rather impressed at witnessing her ability so up close and personal. If he needed an answer for how earnestly she was taking this now, then here it was. The woman looked crazed: messy strands of her hair sticking out from what was formerly a tight ponytail and wide eyes like that of an owl. It was mildly unnerving, although Mercury's complacent smirk had only been knocked from his lips for a few short moments when he had hit the ground, it had briskly returned when he noticed the ever so faint blush that had crept onto Yysara's cheeks. It lead him to the conclusion that perhaps her mind doesn't have as high walls to climb as he had previously believed, or maybe he was just that good; probably the latter.

Gazing up at Yysara, Mercury made certain to hold their intense eye contact as he raised one of his hands and slowly used a finger to push the scarlet blade pressed to his neck to the side. "You're not going to kill me," he declared, his wicked grin just lightly upturning the corners of his lips. "You could, but you're not going to." He clarified. Before speaking another word, Mercury leaned up, pushing Yysara back onto his lap in the process, so that his face was mere inches from hers. He could feel her breath on his skin as he dialled his voice down into a deep whisper. "Because I've gotten under your skin." There were a couple of seconds of silence as he searched her eyes to determine the amount of truth in his statement.

Mercury's voice was normal again when he talked next, however, he kept the close proximity to Yysara because he knew it would irritate her. "Now, if you don't mind, I have a bedroll to put back into place." He wore his signature charming smile as he waited for her to move first and concede defeat to him.

Aelin Camborium

She could tell the boy knew of her the moment he gave her a once over before avoiding her eyes completely. Which meant he knew her abilities, and her weak points. Her icy gaze more down on him, arching an eyebrow. Smart kid. He was one of the younger ones, perhaps too soft even.

Aelin tore her gaze away from the kid as he left her and Rosa’s company to go finish his own preparations. He wouldn’t last long, the soft ones never did. She zoned off, staring at nothing in particular for the briefest of moments. The younger ones, they didn’t deserve it. Death.

Aelin grimaced. She was loyal to her Queen, she was. She’d die for her. But some of the methods of the Queen, well....something deep down told her they weren’t all right. And she knew, the young boys and girls that served in feared army of hers, did they deserve to loose everything for their Queen? Even their lives?

Aelin blinked and shoved away her thoughts. Connor, he and his beliefs and ideals. They were just getting in her head. Aelin turned and grabbed Storm’s reins before turning back to Rosaline, a cocky smirk plastered on her face.

“Well,” She said dryly, “Let’s go see what those assholes need from us today, shall we?” Aelin didn’t wait for a response as she started for the gathering group, her hips swaying from side to side in an arrogant, cocky manner.

And it seemed as if Aelin couldn’t be more full of herself if she tried.

~~

The trip was a blessing, at least, while she was alone with Storm it was. She often rode a bit ahead, usually volunteering for the job. So she could race through the land, feeling the wind in her hair, the bite of the breeze on her face, the rush of colors whirl by, her black cloak snapping back in the movement. She felt wild, untamable, and completely and utterly alive at those times. In those times, she wasn’t a monster, in those times, she was beautifully human.

They were the only times she could shake the dread in her stomach. How many times had she been to these desolate ruins they were traveling to? Why again?

Others could feel it too, she knew. She’d been trained in many ways how to read others emotions, lies, seduction, etc. Gaea was acting oddly, for the past two days, and now, as she sat near the fire, accompanied by her twin, Isaac. As if some invisible weight rested on her shoulders.

Aelin was still donned her black leather bodysuit of armor, her black cloak pooled around her lithe, honed form as she sat on her bedroll in front of the fire, looking deep in thought as she sharpened her daggers, the sound of blade against blade a comfort to her at her sullen mood. Firelight reflected in her blue eyes, and a unfurling storm in her gaze as she zoned out on the red-gold flames of the fire in thought, the heat of it warming her even through the cloak that covered her. She blocked out the idle chatter of those around her, too deep in thought to notice.

What were they doing here? What was she doing here? She didn’t like killing the rebels. They had passion, a drive. They fought even though they were weak, outnumbered, and had a completely hopeless cause. She admired that passion, the courage, that drive to keep fighting. She hated to be the monster to crush it. The destroyer of dreams, taker of lives.

Aelin stopped her sharpening of knives and gazed up at the stars that peaked through the treetops of the forest, the moonlight illuminating her hair to a pale blonde, and wondered what awaited her in the days to come.

The journey to camp was unnerving. There was a bunch of bickering between people and people, horses and people, and then horses with horses. Since everyone got up to do this mission for the Queen, it seemed there was no stop to one being a thorn in the other's side. Pure pettiness. She got it. Everyone was trying to out best everyone else, but there was a time when people needed to grow up. They were all here on a mission from the Queen, it didn't look good for anyone if they decided to be childish and have pointless arguing. Makes you look weak and unworthy. That's why Amara and Elliot kept to themselves, stayed a bit behind, and focused on each other and the mission.
When everyone came to a stop, it became clear they found a place to set up camp. It was growing to dark to travel and all the horses were tired, needing some rest. Amara parked her midnight black colored Arabian, Nightmare, with Elliot's chocolate brown Mustang. As she slide down off of Nightmare's back, she felt the wind pass by, making the chilly air slightly chillier. She shivered a bit, but somehow not minding it. The colder atmosphere was quite welcome.
Making some haste, she started unloading her mare, through it was mainly a wide range of weaponry she plucked from her personal weapons closet. For this trip, she took a bow with a bundle of arrows, about a dozen throwing knives, a sword, and a couple of hunting daggers. She arranged everything, along with her personal belongings, such as clothes with Elliot's in what they are going to call, their spot.
"Amara." She heard a male call out her name in the midst of her unpacking. She turned to the male, but didn't even get the chance to make a gesture or say a word, before her announced that him and herself was on first watch. She waited till she turned around to her best friend, before rolling her eyes. Of course she was on first watched. The sibling generals won't stay up a bit to watch their people and warn them before they get slaughtered. Nope, they don't want that responsibility or the lack of sleep. On the bright side, she wasn't on a later watch where it would be pointless to go back to sleep after finishing second or third watch.
"Sorry," she heard Elliot apologize.
"No need, at least it's better then second or third," she responded.
"True. Try not to kill some people in their sleep or Jamie."
"You had to take out all the fun."
"Go. I'll finish here."
"I'll be back as soon as I can," the young Telkie promised, and with that she left her favorite Shadow to her first watch partner., carrying a few throwing knives in her boots, her sword strapped to her back and a hunting knife to her side. She hoped it would be a breeze and he wouldn't take the advantage and vent. From what she observed, he too stayed pretty much out of the drama, but that didn't mean much, he might want to start his own, by talking about the others. If so, she was going to make it clear to shut it.
"Alright, let's go," she commanded, once she reached her silk partner. She didn't know much about him, other then his name and abilities. On the outside, he wasn't bad looking, he was quite cute, but the again, for some reason, a lot of these people were. He seemed like the type that she would get along with, judging by his lack of much interaction with the others, but only time would tell.

Gaea immediately felt calmer when Isaac sat next to her and spoke. He seemed like an old man sometimes, the quiet way he spoke and the weight his words seemed to carry, as if he had triple the number of years under his belt. She was told she was the brawn and he was the mind, but Isaac excelled in both it seemed. So why did he act so uncertain in his actions sometimes? Her eyes flickered over his form to reassure her before she spoke.

"I'm just...I'm not certain this is the right path. Can you truly say you enjoy what you're doing? You think it's right? We are the soldiers who razed our village to the ground and threw our lives into such disarray. Can you truly say that's right? Isaac...what if we just..ran?"

Her voice grew quiet at the end, almost too quiet to catch. Gaea couldn't even believe she said those words. She hadn't even entertained the thought of leaving before, never in her wildest dreams. Her thoughts just seemed rise like air. Rebellion danced on the very edge, flickering in and out on the recesses of her brain. Had the queen been controlling her this entire time, keeping her timid and loyal like a dog? She turned to look to Isaac, a sense of doubt lingering. Was Isaac on the same page as her or was he truly a follower of the queen. If so, would he- no. It was like the dual all those years ago. They would never hurt each other. If they disagreed on this matter, they would simply separate and no blood would be shed. Even thinking of leaving without her brother made Gaea feel ill.
She sincerely hoped that her twin would be on the same page as she stared at him intensely, trying to sense any anger or confusion before it even was spoken.

Rosebud was a smart horse, and a very diligent one at that. Impatient with his rider and her conversations he turned his head to the hook that held the bridle and pulled it off with his teeth. Watching Rosalina smile and wave to the others as they left, he lifted his head over the stable door and let the bridle clang against it loudly showing his upset. Rosalina turned to the sound and found a pouting large steed looking directly at her. Laughing warmly she went over to the steed and reached out her hand to stroke him, only to be flicked by the bridle as he pulled his head back. A bit taken aback she sighed and reached for the bridle. "Alright, alright. I'll get you ready. You're such a busy body. I wondered where you got that from?" She said sarcastically as she began to fit the bridle onto her horse. Animals often take after their owners, and Rosebud was no different, although the horse may be a bit wiser than his rider.

Ready no more than a moment later Rosalina and Rosebud joined the march as they followed the others out to a new adventure. The ride was long, however, neither of them truly felt it. They both trained for just such a thing. Rosalina enjoyed having Cyrus around for this mission, both he and his horse were quite the lively bunch. It was nice to laugh along a journey once awhile. Rosebud on the other hand was a bit annoyed at Kicker's relentless excitement wanting more of a serious trek as to keep their perception high. The pleased woman and the sten horse continued on with their brethren.

Finding a good place to set camp the others went to work with preparations. However, Rosalina was stuck a bit behind as a certain horse didn't want to remove his bridle or the two large axes resting on either side of him. Spending a good few minutes trying to wrestle the wriggling horse, she gave up. "Fine at least let me place you with the others." She said exasperated as she grabbed the reins and lead him over to the rest of the horses. As they walked the horse leaned against her and nuzzled her face. Smiling she rested against him "I know, you silly thing. Come on I have to set up camp." Tying him loosely, beside the other horses she patted him gently one last time and took off her pack and gear and made her way to the others to set up her tent and work on starting a fire.

Without taking much time Rosalina was already done, her tent pitched, her heavier armor removed, logs cut and a fire started. Yet Rosalina wasn't satisfied with simply eating rations. "I kinda want to train a bit more. I know!" Seeing as she was in her quieter mail and she hadn't got much training done. Getting up she walked over to one of the siblings and asks to borrow a bow and a quiver of arrows. Twirling them around in her fingers as she made her way towards the woods. Some hunting will be good training, it's been a week since I've practiced with a bow and arrow. Taking a deep breath she knocked a arrow and silenced her footstep as she walked through the woods looking for something to hunt.

The warmth, the warmth, cut server consume. Cut deep deep deeper under the flesh. The crushing weight, pressing against the small body causing it to crumble. It was painful, chest compressing, skin boiling it was stifling to say the least. Constance couldn't escape, the training man was sitting on her tail feathers as he drove his horse down the long unwelcoming trail. Hand trembling as her geared gloves caused her to shake, the tingles tight, powerful hungry devour close closer closer death pain agony their touch, their touch. The heat overwhelmingly froze the small figure to the hose the sharp pain stabbing against her flesh as under her cloak her body and to ebb and flow, inhumanly undulating against the training man's chest. The vision of the road fogged and the darkness reached out and took a gentle hold upon the small frame as a stream of unintelligible msntras hissed out of the sagging cloaked form. "Tuossapot gniogm'IknihtI efinKtohoss'ti sihtekileidoti raetrucdnirg maflesym esrohaedirnaci esolcosehsi yhwereh maercsekohcnrub tuotohoots'ti nurottnawi revesbatstuc hguem gnitruher'uoy potsdeelbrehtils ecilsefink"

Time is irrelevant.

Words are silent.

Pain awakens.

Sharp piercing nails stabbed into the tethering head, neck and shoulders of the form, pushing it over the edge. Light without the shackle of the training man weighing her down Constance teetered and feel off the training man's horse with a thud. Shooting up to a animal crouch her head shot around and found a tree. "Gafty.." the hooded figure uttered as it southerner out a small pool of blood slopping onto the grass. Covered hands sliding into the ruby mess stirring the blood dirt and grass together as she tensed up, watching, waiting, quieting. Pain was the gunshot. Sharp nails dashing up her body she weaved through hooves legs, leaped and latched onto the tree. Sharp silver talons sinking into the bark she nimbly climbed up high up the tree, a bloody mark on the tree leaving a trail as she climbed.

Passing a few of the lower branches Constance climbed up to the middle of the tree, hidden in the brush. Hunkering back to the trunk the small figure hunkered into itself. Sleeves and hood hanging listlessly without it's bones, feathers draping the vast trunk as her attention turned inward. Hands shaking form the power it was so delicious. It had been long since she was pulled to feel this, to feel them. Eyes glinting, drool dripped down from the hungry mouth with a devilish glint. The black figure trembled, "Not yet...too many knife. Slit seep bleed" Sounds of soft crunching nawed seeped from the hood as it rested against the trunk. "Training man steal away crunch tear rip."

"Wait." Shuddering for a moment the black mass twiched and grew still as it slowly rose up to the sky. "Quiet... They awaken..slither claw slash..." Body twisting around her claws pierced into the bark again as she clambered up the tree to it's high peak. Breaking out to the vast sky Constance looked out towards the training grounds and rummaged in the hood and pulled out a small vial. "Leave a trail, hush crunch death, they will follow..." Opening the vial and dropping a small bit out, dust took to the wind. Humming softly she took one long look around the treetops.

Yysara
| Location: Stables|

| With: Mercury |

Oh, she was going to kill him. There was just no doubt about that.

As Mercury boldly pushed the dagger away from his neck, a speck of blood stained his finger. There was no sting of pain, however, indicating he hadn't been cut. It was just the material of the blade that had rubbed off against his finger. At his sly remark about Yysara's inability to kill him, her lips drew back into what one could only describe as a snarl. It didn't work too well, given the young woman had proper lips and not a muzzle. Still, the affect was there. How dare he tease her like this! This disgusting and vile man-- He was hardly worth her time. She knew damn well that she shouldn't concern herself with such lowlife, but something about the deep hum in his voice and the wicked grin he displayed set off all the wrong alarms inside her. Even the generals didn't peeve Yysara this much. (Which meant Mercury had something special going for him.)

Never before had Yysara felt this much rage towards a person. He was cocky. He wasn't scared of her. In fact, he seemed rather intrigued by her. Every soldier was a bit fucked up in the head, some more than others, but this man must of been dropped several times as a babe. As her lips parted to snap back an insult, the words were plucked straight from her throat. Mercury was now sitting up, causing Yysara to slide back into his lap. The angry mantle she had taken up only seconds ago was once again disrupted by a shocked look, the pink hue on her cheeks growing a bit deeper. He was teasing her again!

Blood and gore didn't scare her. She rather enjoyed it, after all. Unfortunately, she was also still a nineteen year old girl. Some would hardly consider her a woman, at least compared to others. The Queen may of turned her and others into a killer, but even she couldn't stop the disgusting and terrifying hormones that ran freely through every one of her soldier's bodies. Some of them acted on such impulses. Yysara had barged in on one too many teenagers getting a bit too frisky before. They had run out, sheets barely covering their exposed bodies to avoid her wrath. Yysara herself, on the other hand, tried her very best to suppress such emotions. They were simply another weakness, one she couldn't afford to indulge in. (Then again, who would ever even kiss her in their right mind?)

With Mercury pleasantly smiling at her like he won, Yysara had to push down such thoughts once again. She'd rather cut out the blood in her cheeks than sit here blushing for one more second in his lap. A hiss of anger sounded, before her arm jerked to the side. A sting of pain soon followed. Her unique blade had cut his cheek, a thin trail of blood already appearing. It was the best she could get in without the generals punishing her. "Don't you ever touch me again, you filthy animal," she growled out to him, her soft voice only heard to his ears as she stood up. Her foot promptly dug into his crotch as she did, using him as a footstool to stomp away.

If anyone had witnessed such a scene, they were wise not to report it. Mercury, on the other hand, had just found out Yysara's weakness.

Yysara was easy to embarrass, especially with such intimate suggestions.

Isaac met her gaze evenly and didn't look away until she suggested going AWOL. His eyes widened for a moment before he averted them. Not out of shame or worry for what she was saying but to genuinely think about what she was suggesting. His brow furrowed pensively and one could see his mind was at work before he ultimately caved in and gave up. A short sigh escaped his lips as he shook his head.

"We'd never make it." The Male general finally replied, looking around to make sure no one was listening in, including those pesky mind readers. He made sure in particular to watch out for them.

"We are incredibly strong together, sis. But we aren't invincible. We wouldn't be able to evade capture and execution forever."

He looked to his twin sister now and shook his head, as if to deny what her thoughts were fearing. "Gaea, you know that I'm not here because I want to be nor am I here because I enjoy.... this." he gestured with a lazy hand wave towards the soldiers setting up the camp. "I'm here becau-" The sounds of a nearby scuffle stopped his train of thought and Isaac very nearly stood to go hand out punishments but it died down very quickly. It was probably some soldiers rough housing and being idiots. "Because of you. I'm here FOR you. I didn't abandon you when we were running away from the Queen's soldiers. I didn't stay away from you when we were inducted in the army."

Rosalina had approached the Generals to ask for a bow to hunt and Isaac obliged wordlessly with a nod before returning to his conversation.

General Isaac leaned over and bumped his sibling with his shoulder. Something he hadn't done in years, considering the circumstances, "And I didn't let you rise the ranks and take on the burdens of leadership alone. I didn't let you take on the guilt of the atrocities we've committed in Her Majesty's name on your own."

"Whether we are the people who razed our village and ruined our lives or whether we were the rebels fighting against the Queen. You know whose side I will be on. I just prefer the Queen's side because we'll live longer over here."

Isaac's gaze then turned upwards to the childlike, resident psycho who had made herself home in a nearby tree. His eyes searched for her until he saw a shape at the very top that didn't match with its surroundings. What in the Queen's name was she doing up there?
