When Ashlynn was born, it was almost a miracle. Her parents had been trying for a long time and were ready to give their hopes up when Ash happened. Obviously, she was the only child and the miracle child her parents prayed for. Therefore, they were exceptionally caring and spoiled their little princess rotten. Ash grew up to think that the world revolves around her and she is the most important gear in all that. As a child, she spent a lot of time with her mom but she was already very opinionated and her mother, instead of putting her on the right track, she only opened the door for Ash to become more and more egocentric.

She enrolled in the high school with that entitled attitude and since she has always had that confident aura around her, she has become one of the popular kids right away. But for the overambitious Ashlynn, that wasn’t enough. It has always been ‘sky is the limit’ with her. Reach the goal and then find another one, much higher. And of course, in no time, she became the IT girl, loved and despised at the same time. Ash rarely saved the words though what she called the truth was sometimes way too blunt opinion of hers. The fact that people soon started to call her the bitch didn’t escape her but she was basically proud. After all, she built a reputation for herself. Ash always did things only for her own benefit but when it came to her inner circle, she would never betray them.

Her mother stayed home to take care of her daughter and supported her in every decision the girl has made. Damn, there was a lot of stupid shit on Ash’s list but the good woman would never do anything to anger her child she had always wanted so much. That only contributed to Ash becoming a bit self-centered and egocentric. Daddy wasn’t much different, Ashlynn was his little princess but also, him being a cutthroat attorney, little Ash learned a thing or two which only contributed to her ruthless nature.

But it wasn’t like life had always been rainbows and unicorns for her. Her heart had been broken so many times she stopped counting. Not that it wasn’t partially her fault. She always had a thing for the wrong type of boys and so her heart was shattered into million pieces, stomped over and squashed. But her game face was always on because “never let them see they hurt you.” Ash never learned her lesson though. Well, maybe once she hits the college…

Being born as a Hawthorn, the world was lying at Romeo’s feet. His parents came from one of those old traditional families, old money as they say. The tradition of riches and prestige ran in this family for so long not even they remembered and from very early childhood, Rome simply enjoyed it. Why not? His mom certainly wanted him to. He was her golden boy. But fortunately for his moral development, there was still his father. And no matter how much his mommy dearest was trying to spoil her only son, his father made sure that from his early childhood, Romeo understood that he was meant for more than that, that he was the heir of the family empire. The prince.

Still, mother’s influence was a little bit stronger and the fact, that he only had younger sisters, two to be precise, he was basically the royalty among them. And the same was at school. Because of his family, he was always considered a privileged child. And Romeo, instead of realizing how wrong it was, enjoyed the attention and all the special treatment he was getting. It certainly got him out of a lot of trouble. And while he was at it, he assumed the highest position in the school hierarchy. The prince. The royalty.

But before he could fully enjoy his perfect life, he got into more trouble than he could handle. His popular lifestyle gave him everything he could ask for and soon Rome became famous for making the best parties. Of course, with everything that was supposed to include. Lavish place, all the booze, drugs and everyone who meant something. And not even his royal highness himself was immune to some of those. A lot of those to be exact. Naturally, it all started with booze and a few weed joints but the more he partied (because honestly, he could, he never had to study for school anyway), the more he experimented.

After a while, his addiction became more apparent to people around him. It was not just weed anymore. Ever since Rome discovered the white powder, he started to lead double life. The glamorous flashy one on the outside, at school and in front of his parents and then, the darker one on his own, throwing money on cocaine and snorting his way through life. All in all, it never cast a shadow on his polished reputation. He still belonged to royalty, he still ruled the school and he still became the junior prom king. And that was definitely the best time of his life. Until the summer after his junior year where his father grabbed him by the collar and dragged his ass to an expensive center in Switzerland. Maddox was going to rehab. Now he's back after summer spent abroad and supposedly clean. How long will this clean slate last though? And...will it?

Kallista was born an only child, a rainbow child to Tara and Henry Vaughn. They were ecstatic to finally be having a child after many attempts, and their plan was to do anything and everything they could for their beautiful baby. Tara's pregnancy was rough, and she almost didn't survive it. But the doctors managed to save mother and baby, and a week later, both were discharged from the hospital. Their hard times weren't over, though, as they got into an accident on that very drive home. Tara woke up some time later, covered in blood, only to find her husband dead at the wheel. Behind her, though, baby Kallista sat in her seat, quiet as could be.

Devastated at the loss of her husband, Tara struggled mentally, but she still wanted to be the best mother she could be. She didn't date for years; it was just her and Kallie. With some help from family and friends, Kallie had a pretty good childhood with her mother. She was surrounded by loved ones and encouraged to be the best she could. Kallie did many extracurriculars, especially as she got a little older and further along in school. When Tara wasn't working, she spent every minute she could with Kallie. They were the best of friends, which worked out splendidly for both of them.

And then Tara met Wesley Zabielski. He was a new colleague of Tara's, and they hit it off instantly. Kallie was twelve when they met, and thirteen when they moved in with Wesley and his son. Kallie was not thrilled about having to suddenly share her mother, and she didn't get along with Blake. He was the golden child, most definitely Wesley's only child and spoiled as hell. Kallie tried everything to be good and impress Wesley, but no matter what she did, it just didn't feel good enough. Not to mention, Blake never got in trouble, even though he was clearly not the golden child his father made him out to be. So Kallie, feeling as though she'd lost everything she knew, just grew more quiet and kept to herself, keeping her head down.

adrenaline junkie
yan’s most notable trait is how much of an adrenaline junkie he is. he loves the thrill and excitement of danger, and will actually go out of his way to put himself down that path. he’s the guy that takes curves going 70 mph with no sweat. which is a little challenging for anyone who wants to ride in a car with him. a big daredevil who grew up with motocross as a highlight of his background, there’s not much that he won’t do. this can come with a price, though, as one day his adrenaline might be the cause of an accident waiting to happen.

one of ryan’s harder traits to accept, he’s a huge narcissist who cares a lot of himself and his looks. he doesn’t care to make a lot of friends because of this trait, as he is perfectly fine with being by himself. one day this might change for him, but for now, he’s all of himself.

despite being a narcissist and a danger seeking looney, ryan is actually very family oriented and only wants to make his family proud of him. he has a great love for his sister, who is really his best friend, and will do whatever it takes to protect her and keep her as happy as she can be, your typical big brother complex that kicks in whenever he’s around her.

growing up, ryan’s childhood and environment was less than stellar. himself and his sister were raised by their adoptive parents, gregory hartford and moleena hartford, who adopted them after their biological parents were put in a penitentiary for child neglect and abuse, and ultimately would serve 5 years for each count of child neglect and 5 more for abuse. since the court order for the children to be separated from the parents, ryan and taylor were put into foster care for around 3 years at the ages of 12 and 13 and were adopted then by their now parents. both ryan and taylor are eternally grateful for their adoptive parents, and ryan shows them that. it also means that he packed a lot of baggage though, which hints at his environmentally produced personality traits and why he is so self centered and absorbed. since his adoption, both him and his sister have pretty much been spoiled. greg and moleena always wanted children, and when they got them, they were more than happy. they would take ryan to motocross, which brought out the adrenaline junkie in him and his parents knew what they were getting themselves into. they always treated them like their own children, and in return, the children always treated them like their own parents.
when it comes to school, ryan was never the straight a student and actually struggled a lot to keep his focus in school. when he turned 16, his parents decided to have him tested for adhd, which was confirmed. he prefers not to take his medication for it, so really he’s flunking his math class as we speak, but he finds much interest in classes like his mechanics class and elective classes. but elective classes won’t give him a diploma, so he has a tutor who helps him with his math and history classes every wednesday and friday night, which seems to be helping greatly.

one of taylor’s most notable traits is how laid back and chill she is, she doesn’t have much care in the world, and lives her best life because of it. this may be because she smokes so much pot despite herself, but she allows herself to let loose unlike her adrenaline junkie brother, who is her polar opposite. she may be his polar opposite because she has learned to deal with her demons and not let them consume her, which her bother has yet to learn.

Blake has always been his father's golden child, considering he was the only child Wesley and Evangeline Zabielski managed to have before she died. She was sick for a long time, but she was still able to thrive and be a mother to Blake until he was about nine years old. He was ten when they buried her, and it wrecked him. She'd been his best friend, his everything, and the two of them and his father had made the perfect trio in his mind. His father had his fault, including the fact that he pressured Blake to be the very best at everything he did. Anything less than perfection was simply not allowed, and after his mother's death, he felt that intensify.

But he'd also just lost his mother, and was going through alot. His father didn't want to talk about it though, he just wanted to bury his feelings and forget about her. He expected Blake to do the same, all while keeping up appearances. Blake tried for a while to be that perfect son, but it was hard on him. Then his father met Tara Vaughn, and it wasn't much longer after that, she became Tara Zabielski. She and her daughter Kallie moved in, and Blake was not a fan of the sudden invasion in his home. He had no interest in getting to know his stepmother or his stepsister, but as he always did, he kept up appearances because it was what he was trained to do. But as soon as the adults weren't around, he was off doing his own thing, leaving Kallie behind.

They were not friends at school, or anywhere, really. Blake spends his time playing sports and keeping his grades up, sometimes with help from the nerds at school. Though he's far from stupid, he much prefers sports to writing essays or doing algebra. He likes to go out and party with his friends, and he's gotten pretty good at keeping up his double life, and making sure his father and stepmother don't find out about it. He knows his stepsister knows, but she wouldn't dare snitch on him. Not that Wesley would believe her anyway. He'd raised Blake to be a certain way, and in his eyes, that's how his son was.

freddy is the type of guy you would want your parents meeting. consent is sexy, and he always wants to make sure that the people he's hanging out with are comfortable around him (that being said, he'll definitely ask permission to kiss you before actually doing it) he's very quick to apologize whenever he talks too much to acquaintances due to his habit of rambling and would try to get back on track.

it's always the quiet ones who notice practically everything that's going on around them. and freddy is no different; although he sticks out of the bunch standing at 6'0" his peers might as well see him as a conveniently placed tree because they don't seem to care that he's in hearing range to listen in on their conversations. though it's not just his lack of social presence that makes him get away with harboring information. he likes to think of himself as a bit of a detective, and like any great detective, he has a knack for deduction and logical reasoning. his aunt cass is avoiding the wine? pregnant. the librarian takes a double look whenever the english teacher borrows a book? infatuation. freddy is a bit of a sleuth.

it's a double sided sword, really. freddy just cares too much about people and what they think and because of that, he tends to make the extra effort of providing attention to people, even if they arguably don't deserve a second of it. he's the guy people would call if they need help with an assignment, need a ride home (although they would have to be okay with standing on the back pegs of his bike), and even if they need some soup made because they're sick. he's got your back, especially if you've managed to become a close friend of his.

freddy wouldn't call himself a push- over per say, just someone who has a weakness to attractive people telling him what to do. it's alarming how many times he'd allow himself to be the only one working on a group project or even just doing somebody else's homework just because they gave him a wink and smile.

early life

freddy's parents, eleanor samuels and peter mccoy had him just when they were accepted into the college of their dreams. young and fueled with the ambitions to chase their dreams, they left him to be taken care of by his father's parents, josephine and carter mccoy. they were caring guardians to him, treating him as if he was their own, allowing him to play around on their front yard and teaching him how to bake and cook. they lived in the sunny suburbs of florida and would practically do everything with freddy. they would collect sea shells together after picking up freddy from preschool, bake some muffins when they got home, and his grandfather would tell stories about creatures like bigfoot and the yeti before they tucked him in for bed. young freddy couldn't ask for anything more, really.

but there's a reason why he's now in the grim town of easthaven point, right?

the suburban dream turned sour when freddy was just ten years old and was tucked into bed just like any other night. the routine was exactly the same, his grandfather told him a tale about the jersey devil, gave him a kiss on the forehead, and locked his bedroom door behind him after turning off the lights. yet, fate had different plans for that night. like a sick game of chance, an attempted robbery took place in the mccoy household. his grandparents were watching television downstairs at the time, young freddy knew since he had still heard the sound of the live television audience laughing from his room. he also heard the blend of the tv's laughter and his grandmother's screams. and the gunshots that soon followed. but what made his bones want to jump out of his skin was the heavy footsteps on the oak wood stairs and the frantic turns of his doorknob.

freddy doesn't know (and doesn't want to know) what would have happened if his neighbors didn't call the cops that night.

though it was just like that, the following morning a service worker helped him pack up his belongings and brought him to easthaven point where his parents ran the town newspaper and publication company. he's been staying with them ever since.

and no, they don't talk about what happened that night. instead they act as if they had raised freddy since the beginning.

school life

it's no surprise that freddy earned his spot on the students classified as "losers". since he began going to school in eastpoint, he was always too skinny and talked way more than his classmates preferred him to. even the growth spurt in middle school didn't help him climb the ranks on the social ladder. if anything, it made him feel even more awkward than before, practically a human beanstock who could be blown away by the slightest amount of wind.

highschool wasn't any better, almost as if the cliques and stereotypes from middleschool simply transitioned to highschool over the summer. he didn't even bother trying out for any sports team but did instead join the school paper (which was then inherited solely by him once his upperclassmen had graduated) not that being the only person on the school paper was really an issue, it made the club's office his very own which he more than appreciated. whenever he wanted to eat lunch without having anything thrown at him, he could simply lock himself in the school paper's office room and eat his ham and cheese sandwich in peace.

although he was sort of a social reject, he was still one of the top performing students in his year. and if he wasn't always trying to find the existence of the mothman, he might be able to rival odette whittaker herself (not that he would, she seems to be one of the only friends he has in this hellhole)

early life

hunter and charlotte whittaker were highschool sweethearts, married at eighteen, the star quarterback and the prima ballerina. a match made in heaven if there ever once was. easthaven residents would even rumor that both of them has the potential to earn scholarships and professionally represent colleges. however it seems that college was not in their cards as they turned out to be pregnant soon after their marriage. charlotte was disappointed to let her dreams of becoming a professional ballerina go but she was more than content to trade that dream in for the dream of motherhood. especially when the two found out they were having a baby girl. it wasn't up for debate that charlotte was going to name her daughter odette. their little swan princess. hunter had a knack for photography and made sure that every single tiny moment was captured so that the family could look back at the beginning of odette's story. from them shopping for baby clothes to hunter trying and failing to paint the baby room the correct shade of pink charlotte wanted. through out the nine months, the whittakers managed to fill up two photo albums with memories.

the summer's innocence took a turn for tragedy however on the night of odette's delivery. charlotte whittaker had passed away just minutes after holding crying little odette in her arms. hunter whittaker was left a mourning widower and single father barely at the age of nineteen. through the grief and the pain, he continued to push on in order to raise his daughter the way his wife would have wanted. and he protected her from harm's way like a dragon protecting their hoard of gold. odette was his little swan princess after all. he ended up landing a job at the local police office and managed to get promoted to the town sherrif by the time odette was in the third grade.

because of her father barely letting her leave an arm's length from him, odette had as mundane as a life could be. with the highlights of her summer vacations being ballet lessons and having playdates with the quiet boy next door (where she soon found out he's not as quiet as he seems). it would almost be fitting to have named her rapunzel instead of odette with how locked up she felt. but that didn't stop her from daydreaming, imagining a day when she was older where she could move far away from this place and never look back. if anything, staying indoors most of her life made her ambitions fly higher than they would have without.

school life

odette may not be the queen of the social ladder at school but she was the president. school was her ticket out of easthaven so she took every opportunity to climb to be the top of the food chain (academically of course). because of her responsibilities through out her beginning of highschool, she ended up quitting ballet and exchanged it for the debate team and the model un club - she wasn't cut out for performances over her middleschool recitals anyway.

soon she'll be having college out of state or if she was lucky, out of the country. but for now she was stuck operating school events and making sure everything was in order. not that she was complaining, she loves the power she has. being top of the class meant teachers trusted her and that meant she could occasionally get snacks from the vending machine in the teacher's loungue. and although she would never become prom queen, she felt much more important being the planner of prom entirely.

besides, the prom queen is always a sight to see. not that she's staring or anything.

freddy has been her best friend ever since he moved in with his parents and they just so happened to be neighbors. they have each other's backs. which means in order to avoid "boy talk" with her dad, she gives him the impression that the two of them are dating. not that it's an entire lie, they did date in middleschool up until odette realized she had no interest in boys whatsoever and dumped him after he walked her home from the spring formal. there are no hard feelings and the two of them still ride home and go to school on freddy's bike.
