(not looking right now)
- Big greetings, I’m Very! I’m on the look-out for a relaxed partner for a (maybe) short-term roleplay!
I’m a university student with a fluctuating schedule, though it’s less fluctuating now that I’m in quarantine. I enjoy regular human hobbies like video games, crochet, and trying too hard to deconstruct movie plots. My absolute favorite thing to do is draw.
I started roleplaying about 7 years ago, but I haven’t had much variety in roleplay and still consider myself rather inexperienced.
So, cons:
I’m not 100% sure how I work best and it could get a bit messy.
I just don’t know all that much about the art of collaborative writing.
But, pros:
There’s a lot I haven’t tried, so I’m down to try a lot! I can be flexible and mirror what format you’re most comfortable with.
You can be part of the process that grows someone else as a writer or go on this fabulous journey alongside me.
I’m on EST, and as aforementioned my schedule can change. I try to reply as often as I can, but it’s not uncommon for me to have spells where I get out 1 post every 3 days. This relates to why I am looking for something short-term, perhaps 1 month or 2, unless we end up wanting something else. So! I am in need of a partner who doesn’t mind erratic timing or letting this roleplay adapt and change.
I don't have a specific plot I'm particularly craving, so that point is very flexible. - I prefer to use PMs, but Discord would be fine, too.
I write in 3rd person paragraph style.
I am semi-literate to literate. I hate making typos/mistakes but I have made them, and likely will again. I’m not going to lose it if you start a sentence with a preposition. My bar is just that we make an honest effort to keep our writing mistake-free. If my partner doesn’t proofread at all and responds multiple times in a row with egregious typos it takes me out of the story pretty quickly.
In length of the posts, I’d like however many words we feel like. Sometimes something short and quick is an appropriate response to address the current situation. On the flip side, you cannot write too much. For real, if I write out 3 paragraphs and you suddenly hit me with 4 pages of what’s going on in your character’s head because you just had a lot to say about it? Yes. I like to read, and I really like to read about your character. So, no minimum, no maximum.
We don’t have to plot out the whole storyline, but I would like to have thorough conversation(s) about what we’re both thinking and what you most want to get to. I want to get to know you as a writer. Every failed roleplay I’ve ever had seemed lacking in communication and planning. Full disclosure, I’m probably most inexperienced in the OOC. I’m down to work with the tools you find most helpful, whether that be character sheets, maps, outlines, or what have you. An aside, if you want to spam me with some pics that just reminded you of your character, or have a playlist you want to share, or just have anything that makes you excited about the roleplay I would love to hear about it. The more enthusiastic you are about your characters and the story at large, the cooler I think you are. If you lose interest, need a hiatus, etc., that’s totally okay! Just let me know. I can be very busy for periods of time, so if I don’t hear from you for a long time I’ll assume you’re just extra busy. Let’s not Hachikō each other. - I greatly prefer original characters in original settings, but I have never dipped my toes in fandom before. If you’re really big on that and we share a fandom, I would be willing to try a canon setting, I just cannot do canon characters.
I don't mind romance and I don't mind not having romance. When it comes to side-plot romance, I’ll write for any role. But if we do main-plot romance, I’d really like to do role-reversal relationships. I can still be flexible, but high-key the relationship role I want to write the most is the F in MxF where traditional gender roles don’t matter.
I really like magic, space, mystery, and monsters/creatures but none are requirements. I really really like spooky stuff, and kind of "campy/fun” horror. Zero-cal Horror™ . Think the original Scooby-Doo cartoon’s aesthetic with a bit more maturity. A character’s internal state is what I like reading and writing about the most.
Some general stuff I like:
- Clichés/tropes with a twist
- Small towns with weird things going on
- Paranormal Westerns
- High fantasy
- Fantasy politics drama
- Riddles and puzzles
- Bits that aren't plot-necessary, they just say something about the character or world
- Dark magical girls/boys
- Item quests
- Dragons!
- Suburban horror
- Space operas
- Ghost hunters
- I have a personal dislike for the straightforward zombie survival genre. Partially because the worst roleplay I ever had was one and I’m scarred, but also dry survival is just not my jam. If somehow zombies are the deal-breaker for you, like, okay, as long as there’s something fresh and exciting about them or we use the story to really explore themes of humanity or mortality or something. Zombies are 90% of the time not used effectively and I have strong feelings about them.
I'm not huge on the action genre. By all means, cool back flips, but I can't subsist entirely on combat, parkour, etc.
Limits—Torture, rape, smut, and familial abuse can be spoken of, but not acted out. - The scent of fire and food floated on the air from the edge of the woods. Cedar adjusted his heavy pack on his shoulders and peered into the distance in the direction it seemed to be coming from. He was exhausted. Just when he had gotten ready to set up camp, he realized someone else in the area had already beat him to it. It seemed like something a savvy adventurer would investigate. It was unlikely vampires or werewolves were cooking out here, so the fire was probably human. He preferred his chances with a few humans, and if they were friendly, he could use the company.
He had been plagued with odd dreams as of late, always a voice saying to go somewhere and do something. He gave little stock to dreams, but the increasing feeling of clarity and urgency these imparted to him upon waking made him anxious. Now, when he had finally decided to completely change his direction of travel for the sake of this voice, its instructions changed and he found himself at the doorstep of the Whispering Woods. Maybe he had ignored these dreams for too long, maybe the pace he had set was too leisurely, maybe he had actually missed some event he should have been present for. Or maybe, as he suspected, dreams were just dreams and he was a fool yanking himself along. Maybe this was cosmic punishment for wanting adventure. He would have sighed, but was trying to be quiet while coming steadily nearer to the foreign campsite.
The trees here offered little cover without their leaves, and he was close enough now that he could see a fire with three figures around. They did indeed all appear human from this distance, and if they were all thieves and murderers or whatever, he thought he was probably fast enough to outrun them. But maybe they were friendly. He didn't appear very threatening; he had a pistol, but it was hidden in his coat. His facial features were soft, the only sharp edges being the wide burn on the left side of his face. His hair usually covered it, but he had tied it up to keep every twig and web from decorating him. He wondered if he would make a better impression with it covered. He hesitated with hands near his hair tie, wondering if that was silly.
"Oh, bugger all," he muttered, leaving it alone and walking straight up to the camp. Please be friendly, he thought.
- Basically I’m looking for an informal, enthusiastic partner in a ~2 month roleplay that will go wherever or for however long we decide as we work with it. Buuut if you came right to this part, you’re probably not going to like writing with me. I’m a pretty rambly person, and preferably that doesn’t bother you or you are one, too. If there’s anything I didn’t clarify or you just wanted to ask about, feel free to message me!
