Sara Chibana
Female
Pansexual
Japanese
5'2"
Aquarius
PERSONALITY

Sara's mindset veers towards hypervigilance, always on alert in anxious anticipation for the worst. Sara is highly distrustful of anyone she comes across, her cynicism easily getting the best of her. She has a quiet disposition, preferring to observe rather than participate, and tends to shy away from those she doesn't know out of both caution and timidity.

However, once she begins to open up towards people, she shows her empathetic and warm colors behind her aloof layers. Sara is a nurturing individual that looks out for the wellbeing of those she's closest to, even stepping out of her comfort zone at times in order to be there for them. This kind side of her is also brought out by her when she's around her plants, as she's a person who values all living things in general. Sara is a sentimental girl, nearly obsessed with documenting things with pictures. She snaps photos of her plants and friends as they grow, stringing the pictures up on her wall or making albums out of them.

As a byproduct of her heightened sense of awareness at all times, she can be quite observant. She especially excels at reading the most subtle nuances in facial expressions and body language. However, her inherent cynical bias can cause her to sense threats where there are none, triggering her defensiveness and causing her to withdraw further into her shell. After all, she isn't very used to feeling secure, and may hold herself at arm's length to protect herself. Sara is additionally prone to ruminating over past interactions, remembering certain words said by other people that stick in her head.

LIKES + DISLIKES
+ Small groups.
+ Independence.
+ Botany.
+ Gardening.
+ Journaling.
+ Bubble tea.
+ Instant photography.
+ Her polaroid camera.
+ Making memories.
+ Her grandparents.

- Loud people.
- Alcohol.
- Her parents (as well as talking about them).
- Dishonesty.
- Troublemakers.
- Those who pick on others to feed their egos.
- Her personal space being constantly invaded.
- Being nagged.

TRIVIA
Role: The green thumb.

Fears: Phonophobia, athazagoraphobia, and mild androphobia.

D.O.B: January 26th.

Age: 17.

Quirks: She prefers to take pictures of people acting naturally instead of posing for the camera. Thus, she isn't the type to prepare the subjects of her shot, preferring to secretly snap a picture in the background, not disturbing the happy moment. Although, she doesn't mind them noticing every now and then, she gets a bit soft with her friends. She can also whip out her polaroid on a whim to take pictures of things she finds pleasant or positively interesting, albeit she never asks for permission to photograph. Too shy.
BIOGRAPHY

Sara had her unfortunate beginnings in the crime-littered city of Quincy, Massachusetts, born an only child to a relatively wealthy couple. Her father a biologist and her mother a financial advisor, money was never an issue...instead, the relationship between her parents was the most severe problem in the Chibana household.

Her father, an abuser, and her mother, a victim, screaming and temper tantrums punctuated each day and night with paranoia. Sara grew up feeling like she was walking on eggshells around her volatile dad, whom she quickly learned to avoid at all costs when upset. Locking herself in her room, curling up in a closet, hiding under a bed, even sleeping on the porch, she offered up her belongings as a sacrifice to his rage, but never dared to confront him in person. God knows how many tears she's shed when she did, the fear crippling her system and her distress skyrocketing. Her father's smoldering rage clearly wasn't something a young child could handle, her childishness infuriating him further and leaving her with no option but to run away. In order to survive this stressful environment, the blonde began to adapt to pick up on her father's emotions pretty fast, swiftly analyzing his behavior for any alarming signs. Heavy footsteps and slamming doors became instant red flags to look out for, and soon enough, Sara became skilled in reading other people's emotions as she grew older.

Her mother tried her best to be functional, consoling her daughter after her husband's episodes and making sure she was well-fed. Still, the presence of her child wasn't enough to keep her composure whenever dear old dad decided to dish out hits, bruising her skin blue, red, and purple. Sara remembered coming home from school to find her mother on the floor after a beating, nearly motionless, and thought her father had genuinely killed her.

Of course, she couldn't ignore her mother sobbing afterwards when she thought nobody was listening, and ever since she was a young kid, she could only feel pity towards her.
Pity, and a bit lamentful towards a mother who couldn't be there for her.

School was Sara's safe haven, a place where her dysfunctional family couldn't reach her. While she wasn't anything spectacular in class, always having an average report card with many Bs and a few As, she still found solace in the few friends she made despite her shyness. They gave her much needed relief after the chaos of her home, though she never spoke a word of the violence, just like mommy wanted her to.

There was only one thing about her family that she loved, and that was her grandparents on her mother's side. Visits to their house were some of the only times Sara could truly feel safety and tranquility. Her grandparents were serene souls, and her grandmother had a passion for growing vegetables in their backyard. Helping her grandma water and fertilize the plants were some of the happiest times of her childhood, the sun beating down on her elated face as she dug small holes with green-stained fingers. After looking through a joyful photo album composed by her grandparents and seeing herself in a few shots, Sara became transfixed on the idea of preserving the few happy memories she had in her dim life. It was then that she began her new hobby, photography, first using her grandpa's old camera to capture memorable pictures of her own.

Sara was inspired by her experiences to join her elementary school's gardening club, which she carried on into middle school after she showed great talent in it. However, the situation at home was getting worse as she aged. Now that she was older and in secondary school, her dad was lashing out at Sara as well whenever things didn't go his way. Soon enough, in 7th grade, he began to physically abuse her as a way of controlling Sara's mother, dangling his daughter's health above her head to obtain obedience. Her child now subject to physical harm, Sara's mother couldn't take seeing the same purple splotches on her own arms replicated onto Sara's own. After 8th grade was over, Sara's mother sent her to live with her grandparents in Quentin, Massachusetts in order to protect her from the menace that was her father.

With her home life drastically improved, her freshman year of high school was like a dream. She found herself not holding her breath around her guardians anymore, not skipping school lunch because of the anxious anticipation knotting her stomach, not having to invest in makeup to cover the various marks left on her body. It was the first time in her life where she could finally be 15 and have sleepovers, game nights, birthday parties. Needless to say, the amount of photos she took that year was humongous.

However, her days of effervescence were rudely cut short by Sheldrake Academy abruptly becoming coed. The announcement prompted her grandparents to immediately transfer over Sara to the same one her grandfather attended as a wee lad. Given Sara's wariness around male figures, she naturally wasn't excited in the slightest to be sent to a former all-boys school...gross.

Hopefully the gardening club isn't all that bad there. Although, she can't help but remain cynical...

Name: Emily Cait-Sid
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Height: 5'10
Weight: 129
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Appearance:
alison 2.jpg
Personality: Emily is a composed and charming girl with a southern accent. She's quite reliable and tends to have her school work and general stuff together, she's not one to be caught unprepared, you might know her as that one friend who always has their shit together. Her unusual composure makes it hard for people to really understand what she's thinking. She doesn't tend to talk about other people much. She comes off as clever but laid back, and she has an amusing sense of humor, one that people might not understand unless they've known her for a while.

Backstory: Emily grew up in a farm on texas, she really didn't have anything to do with the rich life, being a small countryside girl living on a farm. She would wake up early every morning and take care of the farm as a little girl. Her parents were farm owners, often selling produce to make it through the seasons. Sometimes they wouldn't always make enough, and it would get cold in their house during the winters. Emily had decided from a young age after experiencing much hardship that she'd be rich when she was older. Ofcourse most of her friends would tell her that no farm girl from texas could make it big. Still the idea stuck in her head as she continued her life.

Eventually she started attending school. She got good grades for the most part, but the real change occurred years later when a standardized test was taken in the entire school and her score was high enough that word got out to people and before she knew it, she was packing to attend sheldrake, perhaps this was her chance to make it big.

Likes: Horses, Guns, Boots, Puzzles, Riddles, Animals
Dislikes: Rain, Stormclouds, Churches, Annoying people
Skills: Owns a farm, good with horses and other animals, sharpshooter, expert pianist, history intellectual

Personality
Demitri is a loner, but he’s not lonely. Or perhaps he is – he’d be up for debating that, provided the opposing party has done their research. He doesn’t have a set group of friends or best friend, he flits around from group to group so while not many people know him personally, a lot of people know of him, and that’s how he likes it. He values the notoriety and being the guy with all the answers. He doesn’t care if people roll their eyes when he starts debating a teacher on a topic, because he knows come end-of-term exams, everyone will be begging him for the answers. That doesn’t mean they come for free though. He doesn’t take monetary payment, he has no need for it, instead he writes the person’s name down in a little black book and keeps it so that if he ever needs a favour done, he can subtly remind them of that time he wrote their entire essay on the history of Rome and got them an A*.

He enjoys a challenge and will insert himself wherever he sees something interesting going on, especially things that can’t be explained. Half the fun of life is trying to explain the unexplainable. He can be rather reckless with his behaviour and a small part of him, despite the logical arguments otherwise, makes him feel invincible – likely because he could pay his way out of anything so he has a lot less to lose than the average person. Most of his inner battles are between logic and feelings. Logically, he knows he is under-socialised and quite a loud part of him wants that kind of close-knit group like you see in the movies, but he also values the time he spends alone with his own mind in the little workspace he made for himself in a spare defunct classroom covered in chalkboards and library books that he should probably renew. It’s his own little section of heaven when being around so many people gets tiring.

• B A C K S T O R Y •

He grew up rich, not the typical LA yachts rich, but the type of rich the ordinary person doesn’t even know exists. He doesn’t flaunt his wealth because he doesn’t feel the need to impress anyone. If you didn’t already know, you wouldn’t be able to tell that the shirt he was wearing was custom-made by one of the top designers at their personal workspace in Vienna. His parents come from a long line of businessmen and women who married rich, sometimes royalty, consolidating so much wealth that their family wouldn’t have to work a day in their lives for the next couple of hundred years.

His parents are distant clinical people, hardened by the corrupt world and burden they have to bare being responsible for so many parts of society. Perhaps that was why they placed pretty much no expectations on him whatsoever. He didn’t have any chores to do, didn’t have to meet certain grades, go to school, or follow a certain career path, hell, he didn’t have to speak to them at all if he didn’t want to. He could have decided to leave the house at 7 years old and move into one of their spare holiday homes on the other side of the world and they would be alright with it since it would’ve been filled with servants and cleaners anyway. He had all the time in the world to study whatever he wanted with endless resources, and he did. He spent most of his childhood pouring over books. He knows how to date art based off the colours, style, and type of paint used, he can recite the properties of every element discovered off by heart, he’s fluent in 7 languages, he can debate international policies and figure out complex algebraic equations without hesitation. Can he make a friend… debatable.

Sure, he had friends – the kids of his parents’ friends. They could only hang out when their parents got together to have dinners and gossip about the stock market or Louis and Angela’s divorce. The kids would imitate their parents in the way they spoke and acted charismatically and affluently, avoiding all emotional talk and refusing to reveal anything that could be used against them, which became the basis for all his social skills. However, every family was so heavily intertwined that the politics of the parents often affected the way the kids interacted and led to a lot of conflict and ‘final dinners’ whereby Demitri would meet a friend as if everything were normal and then never see them again. When he asked why, his parents always responded with ‘It’s too complicated, you wouldn’t understand’.

He has two older sisters, Ariza who is 7 years older than him and runs her own high-fashion dress company called Afródis out of their home town in Greece, and Evangeline who is 9 years older than him and works as the Under-Secretary-General at the United Nations. It’s a lot to live up to. So he decided to just avoid it and live in the moment, ignoring the constant dark gloom just around the corner. That was part of the reason why he accepted Sheldrake’s offer after a particularly impressive paper he wrote on the modern interpretation of The Odyssey; to physically get away from everything he knew he would have to inherit at some time. There certainly is enough going on at Sheldrake to keep him busy for now.
