"Aren't you supposed to be somewhere?" Marissa toyed with a necklace, turning it over and over in her hands as though she were actually interested in it.

Kristina slipped a pair of hoop earrings into her purse, her eyes on the saleswoman behind the front counter as she did so. The saleswoman paid the two teens no mind; the magazine she was flipping through was obviously more interesting. With a light eye roll, both at her inattentiveness and Marissa's question, Kris turned to the redhead. "The cookout isn't until one."

"Ahh." The necklace was gone, and Kris didn't have to guess where it had gone.

"Not that it'll matter if I'm late. Who's keeping tabs?" Shrugging, she turned away from the jewelry and headed for the shoes. It was harder to steal a nice pair of heels, but not impossible. She tried on a few pairs, finding a set she really liked about five pairs in. With careful execution, she slipped her flats into her purse and stood, the beige heels strapped to her feet.

"C'mon. I don't see anything else." Kris strode past Marissa with purposeful steps, leaving the store with Marissa in tow. The local mall was a shitshow, just like their town. It was almost downright easy to steal from just about every store in it.

The girls headed outside, done with their excursions for the day. Kris knew she had to at least make an appearance at the family ookout, or else someone might think she was in jail or dead. Marissa drove them to Kris' house in her brother's Toyota, since she was the one with the permit and all. Kris waved bye as the girl dropped her off, and the blonde headed inside.

The place smelled amazing. She didn't know where they'd stolen the meat from this time or who was cooking, but they were doing a damn good job. Dumping her purse on the couch, she glanced around the messy living room. "Hello? Anyone home?"

Zeke didn't know exactly where the meat had come from. He also didn't know why there was suddenly an abundance of chips and dip and everything else other families probably procured for events such as this.

He also didn't question it.

Instead, he immediately threw on the lacy pink apron (which had also magically appeared) and started prepping everything. Bowls for chips, dips opened, kebabs kebabbed (was that a word? Probably not), everything that didn't require the actual "outdoor cooking" for this cookout. Zeke's tongue peeked out at the corner of his mouth as he put the finishing touches on the cute little fruit kebabs he'd made. He would probably be the only one to eat them--everyone else would be excited about the meat--but he could at least make it known that he cared about everyone else's health. Because he did. That was kinda part of the "oldest sibling" job description.

Well, there was no point taking off the apron, especially when he could still spill something all over himself, so he started bringing the chips and such outside. It was quite warm, which made him regret putting on a flannel this morning. So as soon as he put his first load down, he threw off the flannel and let it fall onto some random chair.

By the time he came back inside, he heard the sounds of a car driving off and the call of his younger sister, Kris. "In the kitchen, Kris!" He knew full well that Kris was going to tease him for the apron, but since he was used to it by now, he still didn't bother do anything about it. He did, however, glance at his watch, raising an eyebrow. "Where is everyone...?" he muttered to himself as he continued to bring the snacks out. He didn't want to be in charge of the grill, but it seemed like he'd have to if no one else willing to showed up. And he definitely wasn't going to let any of the youngers do it, because that was a big NO-NO in Zeke's self-titled not-actually-published guide to mothering. Or brothering? Older sibling-ing? Anyway.

"Did you have fun with Marissa?" Zeke called as he came back into the kitchen, glancing around to see if there was anything else, besides the uncooked hot dogs and burgers, to take outside.

Oh. The cooler. Zeke sighed. He was going to have to do the heavy lifting here, wasn't he?

Needless to say, Noah was stumped. A Fourth of July party and he didn't know what to bring. He should bring something. Raiding his mother's pantry, Noah found many things. There was candy that hadn't seen the light of day in years, potato chips way passed their sell by date and cola that had lost its fizz. He couldn't show up late and there was so much left to do. He wasn't even ready, his hair a mess and an outfit was pointless at this point. He was useless and he hated being useless. Noah needed to get himself together. He texted his mother who was asleep in bed what was happening and took a deep breath. It was go time.

Pulling out the first thing he saw, Noah dressed himself in all black to match his hair whilst the boots he chose gave him stability and the hoodie warmth for it may get cold later. He thought made a good decision as he looked it the mirror. He looked great, almost irresistible, he thought with a smirk, but now's not the time for jokes. Raiding the pantry one last time, he picked up a bag of candy checking the date on the packaging. If anything he could give them to Phoenix. She'd eat anything sweet. That would have to do. He didn't want to be late.

A hop and a skip and he was over at the Carson's for the party. He walked straight in and spotted two of the many Carson kids. "Hey guys," he said with a sweet smile. "I brought candy. I'm not sure how good it is but I thought I should bring something." He had an innocent look on his face but his hair was still a mess. Noah only did half of the getting ready job but his cuteness knew no bounds.

kassandra winters
eighteen years old | outfit- this!
Kassandra pulled on her jean shorts before slipping on a pair of semi-worn out converse. She pulled her long blond hair down from the messy bun it was in and brushed it out, looking herself over in the mirror as she applied some lip gloss. After she was sure she looked good enough she bounced out the front door and over to the Carson house.

"Knock, knock!" she called out, pushing open the already cracked door. "The party has arrived," she added, of course referring to herself. When she made it to the kitchen she saw Zeke sporting a pink apron and laughed a little. "That color really brings out your eyes," she teased him with a grin. "Hey, Noah." she offered a smile when she saw him.

"Laurel is bringing drinks. Ya know, the fun kind," she told them, stealing a strawberry from one of the kebabs. She turned her attention to Kris' shoes. "Cute shoes, they new?" she winked. She was always asking Kris to borrow clothes and shoes so she knew she hadn't seen that particular pair in her closet.

Laurel had become sorta close with Kris ever since she moved into the house next door two years ago. They were somewhat close in age and although they could be opposites, they still got along. Laurel made friends semi-easy. She was a friendly girl and would practically talk to anyone, sometimes she talked too much.

Jax
Interactions: none Mentions: Laurel (@Jas.25) Location: The bar , the Carson's. Mood: Mostly content.

Morning shifts were so infrequent for Jax these days that he had almost forgotten to go to work. Opening the bar was muscle memory from years of having done it in the past, but the previous night's late hours were creeping up on him with every beer he poured. Sounds of pint glasses being stacked upon one another rang out in a mostly empty bar and played into his worsening headache, and Jax found himself repeatedly checking the schedule, as if it would make Tessa's 1 PM shift-take-over come quicker.

Working at night was easier. Not because he couldn't get his schedule right for the morning, and even if that was a small part of it, it still was far from the real reason. Jax hated being off work at night. Boredom lead to troubling thoughts, troubling thoughts lead to drinking to drown them out, and drinking too much lead to... Well, where he was now, with a hangover progressing at a breakneck pace and a headache that wouldn't wait. Working at night kept the boredom at bay until at least two or three in the morning, and by then he was tired enough to knock out cold after a beer or two when he got home. Working at night was easier because it made life easier, not because it was the simpler shift.

Of course, "morning shift" in a bar started at ten, and even then the doors weren't unlocked to let in patrons until eleven. Normally Jax scheduled Tessa or one of the other girls to open from ten in the morning to four or five in the afternoon, and then he would come in and take over for the night, with a helping hand if it was a particularly high volume day or a weekend. Still, ten was hardly the morning, and the fact Jax almost didn't make it on time for that told him he probably needed to be getting more sleep at night.

Finally, at 12:45 the bar door swung open and Tessa blundered through it with the countenance of a woman rushed by an appointment she was running late to. Fifteen minutes early was late for Tessa. Jax watched in awe as she came through the door, rushed behind the bar and into the back room where she threw her purse up on a hook on the wall and exclaimed "You wouldn't BELIEVE---" her voice cut out as she disappeared further into the back, and faded back in as she came back to where Jax was still standing, "Can you believe that?"
"Nope." Jax replied, "Guessing that's why you're...uh, late? Early? Whatever you are?" He was not going to ask her what she had said, he didn't want to stand around listening to Tessa's story. All of them were told in an endless sentence from start to finish as she darted from topic to topic with no apparent direction. He didn't have the time, not today.

Tessa tied her hair up in a messy bun and started taking pint glasses out of sanitizer and stacking them on the back bar, "Anyway you must be going to the Carson's is why you're off at one? You got some help coming in for me this afternoon? It's a holiday and we're gonna be in the fucking weeds, Jax."
"Yeah you have backup, Tess."

Jax walked out of the bar trying to feel confident about the team he left on for the night. With himself and Laurel off, the two best members of the staff were going to be absent on a holiday night. Perhaps he would be absent in body, but not in mind, as he would likely worry himself to death over this before the day was out. For the moment, he tried to but the troubling thought aside and made the twenty-minute trek to the Carson's, where he showed up in the yard, twelve-pack in hand just a few minutes after one. He needed to toss the beers in a cooler before they warmed up anymore after the walk, but not immediately seeing one he chose to set the box of beers on the ground and light one of his cigarettes. Obviously juggling his priorities correctly.

Ethan
Interactions: Zeke (@AnimeGenork) Mentions: Everyone in the kitchen tbh Location: his bedroom, the kitchen Mood: Tired but sociable.
Up with the sun out of habit, Ethan was starting to get tired already. He had never worked a job that started so early in the morning as his new mechanic gig did. Now that his body was accustomed to the early rise he found it nearly impossible to stop it from happening. It hadn't been that way in high school, he had never experienced his body clock just adjusting naturally to a routine. Was this part of being responsible? Could it be that Ethan was somehow maturing, growing up maybe? No, he shook that thought loose and continued with his current task. He was trying desperately to sort clothes in a load of laundry that had been pulled from the dryer and left on some sad, lonely piece of furniture that probably hadn't been used for anything but clothes stacking in years. A shame, too, since it was an antique and Ethan had no idea where it came from, but he assumed they didn't pay for it.
Sorting clothes seemed to come naturally to his older brother, Zeke, who seemed to know by every stitch who every pair of thrifted jeans could possibly belong to. Knowing by the stains, remembering who spilled what, and onto what they spilled it. Ethan wouldn't even be bothering to sort through them if he would have been able to avoid the guilt that would have come with ignoring them. How many days now had every single sibling walked by them and ignored them? It was just a stupid chore, done in minutes if someone would just put out the effort.
Ethan was clearly not going to be that person today, as he gave up halfway through not being able to decide if a pair of black jeans belonged to himself or his older brother. At that moment, it didn't matter, at least he had moved the clothes from a visible place to his bed. Whoever the jeans belonged to, though, they got slipped on over his boxers that he was still walking around in until he realized it was time for people to start showing up. "Hope these aren't yours, Zeke." He said although his brother was nowhere nearby enough to hear him. Ethan put on a black cutoff denim vest over the band t shirt he had woken up in, left his room and went down the stairs.

In the kitchen Ethan was met with the sight of two of his siblings, Zeke (who he prayed would not catch him in the act of stealing his clothes, if they were in fact his jeans) and Kris, and Kassi and Noah, more kids from around the neighborhood. Entirely not surprised by his house already being full of people who didn't live there, he didn't really greet anyone individually but rather gave the whole room an upwards tilt of his head to indicate he was aware of their existence. He took one good look at Zeke, "What have you got on?" And didn't wait for an answer before he opened the fridge, "And I thought there was beer in here?"

Then his attention turned to a cooler, where whatever beer they had left over was probably stashed. "You need some help taking that out, bro?" He asked Zeke, mainly so he could carry it out all by himself and prove himself eternally the strongest of the two (even if it wasn't true.)

Out in the yard playing, there stood the smallest Carson sibling. Nix was practicing for soccer tryouts in September. She was hoping if she practiced really really hard she'd make it in this year. Missing the cut for the under 13 league last year hit her hard. She cried on Kris' shoulder about it for an hour. She didn't believe herself to be good enough but now she'd been working extra hard, studying players' styles and honing her skills. She wanted to be a striker or a midfielder and she wanted to be the best. Maybe it was a little out there but she really wanted to do it and nothing was going to stop her. Commentating what she was doing, she lined up her shot.

"Here we are best of five. Every shot matters when it comes down to this" She had watched penalty shootouts often and they were the best. Everything was so gripping and one mistake could cause you the win. She continued with her speech. "Carson takes the final shot for the country. Will she succeed in winning the World Cup? She shoots..." Nix gives the ball a massive run up kick. She knows exactly what she's doing despite there being no goal keeper. "And she scores!" She practices her goal celebration, her passion for the sport coursing through her veins.

Eventually she calmed down and saw more and more people flood into the house. The party really was starting. Phoenix took her ball and walked through the back door into the kitchen. "Hi everyone," she said brightly before taking her muddy shoes off and slipping on some fresher ones. Nix had an awful habit of messing up her shoes so she had to make sure only certain ones were for playing. She didn't want Zeke to have to pay for more.

Laurel was still sleeping when Kass left to go to the Carson's barbecue. She had worked the night before so she was exhausted but she'd needed the time since she took off today, thanks to her manager and friend, Jackson. She stretched a little as she peeled the sleeping mask from her eyes and sat up. "Oh, shit." she muttered when she saw the time.

She was supposed to bring the drinks, some wine coolers she'd gotten a discount for since the store clerk had a crush on her along with a couple liquor bottles she had in her fridge from a previous gathering. *BBQ at the Carson's house. You should come. I'll introduce you.* She sent the text to her friend, Brooklyn, before climbing out of bed.

After brushing her teeth and her hair, Laurel pulled some jeans and cute tank from her closet and slipped into them. She, as most days, opted to go bra-less in order to show off her piercings through the fabric. She slid into some cute black sandals she'd found at a thrift store and with one hand holding the case of Smirnoff and the other holding a plastic back containing two bottles walked out her door and towards the Carson house.

Just as she walked up the porch and set down the drinks she heard someone else walking up. Spinning around she saw Jackson and offered a short wave. "Hey! Got an extra?" she asked, referring to the cigarette as she walked over to where he stood.

Brooklyn Munson

Brooklyn gazed at the cowering man at her feet. He clutched his foot feebly, the bleeding wound in the middle didn’t have any signs of stopping even as he clutched it. Brooklyn liked to think that she was a pretty calm and rational person, despite her temper she at least tried to think with her head and not let her emotions cloud her judgement. “Consider this your first and last warning, give me my money by Monday or it’s your ass.” She said coldly. Brooklyn turned her attention to the tall, lanky male standing beside her. With her hand to gestured to the bleeding man on the floor as if he were something unimportant. “Get him to a hospital, he can’t die before giving me what he owes me.” She said. “I have other shit to do, call me when it’s done.” With that she left the old warehouse.

As she placed her gun back into its holster Brooklyn climbed into her care after a short walk. Just as she tugged on her seatbelt her phone went off, letting her know that she had a text message. Laurel’s message popped up as soon as she opened her device. “A barbecue huh?” Brooklyn knew of the Carsons, since they had been neighbors for so long but she didn’t know any of them personally. For a moment she thought about declining but then who was she to turn down free food and alcohol? Not to mention that she could use a little time to unwind after what had just went down. With that in mind she pulled off and headed to her house.

As she pulled into the driveway of her home Brooklyn parked her car and headed inside. Being a successful drug deal, a Queenpin, had its perks. She had moved from the dingy, poor side of town to one of the nicer neighborhoods. Brooklyn headed upstairs to her room in order to get ready for the barbecue. By the time she was finished Brooklyn was sure that she was a little late, but then again Laurel hadn’t texted her the time of the party. She pulled up at the Carson household and parked her car, already noticing two people in the front yard.

Brooklyn made sure to lock her door as she left her car before walking onto the yard. She realized that one of the two people was Laurel, the other was a man that she didn’t know. “Thought that I was gonna be late or something, you didn’t text me a time.” She said once she was close enough.

Skyler got out of his bed to get ready for the fourth of July celebration, which is happening today. Then, he went, and used the bathroom room, and turned on the water to take a shower. After that, he took a shower, and washed his hair too. Then, Skyler changed into his 4th of July outfit, burshed his teeth, did his hair, and put on his deodorant. Lastly, he walked into the kitchen. He put his purse next to him as he sat at the table in the kitchen. Then, he said, hi Phoenix, how are you doing today. After, he asked his little sister that question, he took his phone out his purse. Lastly, he started playing words with Friends on his phone.

I'm open to falling from grace.
With a little twist oil started flowing from the car and into the bowl beside Nicholas' head. On the ground, under the car, Nic was at home. He'd worked with cars for a long time and oil changes were one of the easiest things to do. A monkey could do it.

As he was replacing the cap Nicholas remembered Kris had invited him to a cookout. Climbing from under the 1991 Oldsmobile Ciera, Nic grabbed the rag hanging from the door handle and tried to wipe the oil from his skin. It wouldn't really be gone until he had a shower. This was a dirty job and he loved it.

After parking the car outside and closing up shop Nic made his was home. He didn't live far from the Carson's but had only met Kris through a friend of hers. Things were progressing slowly and that's how he liked it. For now. At home, Nic took a scalding hot shower trying to erase the dirt from his body but it seemed to never really disappear.

He was ready in record time and left the quiet house to walk the short distance to the Carson house. Just a corner away and he could hear music and some people yelling. It probably wasnt going to be his type of thing but Kris was there and that's where his interest laid. As he got closer to the house he saw the people, the booze, smelt the food. Really wasn't his thing. He passed a few people in front before making his way into the house. He didnt know anyone here.

Getting ready in Zane's household was never an easy task. Despite how early he woke up, someone was always in the fucking shower. There was usually a line, too, or one of the younger kids shot in there as you opened the door to go in. It was annoying, really, but he'd grown used to it over the last few years.

The 19 year old had been informed earlier in that he basically had 30 days to get out. Since turning eighteen, his foster family had stopped receiving checks for him to stay there. He'd gotten a job, that of course he had to fork over the paychecks from to said family. Did he have anything saved to get a place? Nope. And now that wasn't even good enough; he had to leave.

So far he hadn't told anyone that he had to leave. He'd kept up his bright and sunny disposition, not wanting anyone to know anything was amiss. He could take care of himself. He'd basically been doing it since forever. He'd learned to cook at a young age, and was stealing even before that. This town was perfect for him.

After finally getting a shower, he'd gotten dressed and left the house. He spent as little time there as possible. He had an eye on a house for rent down the street from the Carson's, though again, he hadn't told anyone he was looking. His job at the local diner only brought in so much tip wise, though he'd been stashing some away for a while now from side... 'jobs'.

Eventually, he'd checked his phone and realized it was pretty much time to head over there. After stopping to make sure he was still presentable (by means of looking in a shop window) he headed that way. He spotted the house easily, and grinned and waved at the three standing outside. Making his way into the house after a guy he didn't know, he found most of the family in the living room and kitchen.

"What's up, bitches?" He leaned against the wall, eyes landing on each of them in turn. "What's going on?"

It didn't take long for a voice to ring out through the air, belonging to her brother Zeke. Despite all the shit she gave him-- and the rest of her family-- she really did love them. All of them. Sure, there were times where she wished she were born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but no. She'd been born and stuck with these losers.

Heaving a sigh, and hiding a small smile behind her hand as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, she headed for the kitchen. "Smells amazing." She informed him, the clicking of her heels coming to a halt as she noticed the apron. Quirking a brow, she remained silent. Zeke was Zeke, there was no changing him. "Always do." She answered his question as she crossed to the counter, inspecting everything there.

Finding a fruit tray, she plucked a strawberry from it and stuck the juicy end in her mouth, turning just as Noah walked in. With candy. She smiled at him as she chomped down on the strawberry. Kass walked in a few seconds later, and Kris threw her arms in the air in a happy greeting. Tossing the end of the strawberry into the semi-full trash can, she wiped her hands on a napkin she grabbed and turned back to the others.

"Of course. Borrow anytime." She blew a kiss at Kass, a grin curving her lips upwards. Ethan descended the stairs, automatically asking for a beer. "Probably in there." She nodded towards the cooler just as he noticed it. "Don't ask me, I'm helpless." Snagging another strawberry, she looked over her shoulder as the back door opened and Phoenix sauntered in.

She changed her shoes-- a small act that still made Kris proud-- and then Skyler walked in. "Very festive." She told him through strawberry, as the front door opened again. When she saw Nick her face brightened considerably, and she dumped what was left of the small red fruit and headed directly for him. "Hey, babe." She didn't have to stand on her tiptoes to kiss him this time, thanks to the heels.

"Everyone, this is Nick. Nick, everyone." She gestured around, waving to Zane as he appeared too. Jesus, everyone was coming, weren't they?

Kass looked up from her cell phone, which she'd gotten distracted by, as she heard a few more voices enter the kitchen. She slipped her phone into her back pocket and perked up when she realized one of the new voices belonged to Zane. She'd had a crush on him for a while now, not that she was outspoken about it to anyone besides Kris. It was probably pretty obvious to everyone except Zane.

”Hey, Zane. Didn't know you were gonna make it," she said as she leaned on the counter. If she had known she would've worn something that showed off her assets a little more. She figured he might be working for the holiday though since he seemed like he was working a lot lately.

When Kris spoke up, introducing her new boyfriend to the group, Kass was a little surprised. This man seemed to be way older than her but it wasn’t her business. Last time she’d criticized a guy Kris was dating, they didn’t speak for a few months so she wasn’t getting involved again. Instead she offered a short hello and went on about her conversation.

black magic and cigarettes
Jax
Jax lit his cigarette and took note of how many he had left. Only three. He must have smoked more than he meant to the night before. Maybe it was time to start cutting down on smoking, hell, maybe it was time to start cutting down on a lot of things. He couldn't cling to his crutches forever, right?

When he heard Laurel's voice and the question that she asked, he took a long drag from his cigarette before sighing deeply, exhaling the pool of smoke that he had no business filtering through his lungs at this young of an age. "Yeah, I might have one more." He said, and pulled the pack from his pocket once more, handing her a cigarette and his three week old black Bic lighter, which currently held the world record for the longest Jax had gone without losing a lighter.

Jax had to stop himself from pointing out that he had left he bar short staffed. Other people didn't care about manager problems, he tried to remind himself. Before he thought of something actually sociable to say that didn't have to do with work, he was stopped by another, unexpected member of the party. He didn't recognize this girl, but she spoke as though she knew Laurel, so Jax chose not to say anything, assuming that one way or another, he was about to be introduced to the stranger. He searched his mind though, trying to place her as familiar, because it was rare he really didn't know someone from this part of town.

"Thanks," Laurel chirped as she lit the cigarette and handed the lighter back. Usually she pocketed those things but every now and then she would remember to hand them back to their owner. She took a long drag before hearing Brooklyn's voice. "Hey girl, you came! I was half asleep when I texted. My bad," she laughed a little, blowing out some smoke in the other direction.

"Oh, this is Jackson. Jackson, this is Brooklyn." she introduced the pair quickly. She dropped the last bit of the cigarette and used her shoe to put it out before motioning to the front door. "Come on, I'll introduce you to the rest of the crew. You coming Jax?" she asked as she walked over and picked up the case of smirnoff she'd brought along.

Once inside, she noticed how full the kitchen was right away. "Are we having the party in here or what?" she joked, greeting everyone and started to load the drinks into a nearby cooler. "Everyone, this is a friend of mine, Brooklyn." she said, though she knew most probably knew of her from her reputation. She began to name off all of the people in the kitchen to Brooklyn, pointing them out as she did.

When the smell of smoke reached her nose Brooklyn grimaced slightly. She didn’t like the smell of cigarette smoke too much. “Who turns down free food? And I can spare a few hours since work isn’t hasn’t been as demanding lately.” Brooklyn shrugged her shoulders. Now that she had taken care of her little problem only hours before, things were going to be a little smoother. While Laurel knew about her gang, Brooklyn preferred to keep things vague for the both of them. She never really went into detail when talking about that part of her life.

“Hey.” Brooklyn nodded at the man called Jackson. Before she could say anything else Laurel was already heading to the house. It seems like she wouldn’t waste time in introducing her to her friends. Brooklyn followed after her, stopping once they reached the kitchen. The young woman took a few moments to look around the house as they entered. She was pulled from her observation when Laurel said her name. Brooklyn raised a hand and waved lazily, gazing at each person as Laurel introduced them. “Hey.” Brooklyn remembered some of their names and she knew them all by face. Seeing as she’d moved to a nicer house, she couldn’t fully remember all of their names.

Skyler saw, and heard what Krissie said to him. Then, he said, "Thanks sis, and I like your outfit too. Also, he said, "Nice to finally meet you, Nick." After that, he sat back down in his seat after talking to his sister and Nick.
Lastly, he wins the game of Words with friends, which he was playing.

Zeke smiled at Noah's entrance with candy. "Hey, bud! Nice! I could always use a little more sugar in my life." Then Kassandra sauntered in with a teasing comment about the apron, which Kris surprisingly didn't give. Since she and Kass might as well have been twin sisters, he decided he'd take it. "I thought so, too. It's a good color, isn't it?" Ethan, his younger brother, entered the room, definitely wearing his jeans. He didn't comment on this, nor did he comment on his search for beer that definitely wasn't present in the fridge. "That'd be great, thanks Ethan," he said in response to Ethan's offer to help him bring out the cooler. Then Nix entered the room. Ah, such a cutie, that one! Zeke had to stop himself from squealing at how cute she was. Skyler followed soon after, and Zeke nodded at him, raising his eyebrows at the outfit. "Nice look you got there. Wish I was that festive, Sky." Two more non-Carsons entered the room: Zane and Nick, who apparently knew Kris very well. With a barely suppressed smirk, he greeted both of them cheerfully. "Heya, Zane. Nothing much--watch the language--and nice to meet ya, Nick. How did you and Kris meet?" Finally, Kass's sister, Laurel, walked in, bringing in a friend of hers, Brooklyn. "Like in New York? That's a cool name." He took in the gathering in the kitchen. "Hm, okay, I'd say we're just about ready to start having some real fun! Ethan, help me with the cooler?" This last part he directed at his jeans-wearing brother as he grabbed one end of the coolers.

I'm open to falling from grace.
Nick wrapped his arm around Kris' waist, bringing her closer to him as she kissed his cheek. He gave a brief nod at all the introductions. For sure he wouldn't remember a handful of them.

"How'd we meet?" He chuckled before taking a swig. "I was working on a car that belonged to her friend." He didn't mention the girl didnt have much money so he'd bargained a date with Kris to pay it off. It payed off. They were together.

Leaning into Kris, he whispered, "Want to show me around?"

Leaning against her own man, Kris's eyes zeroed in on Kassandra's change of attitude as Zane entered the kitchen. Kris didn't know if anyone else knew about Kassandra's crush, but she knew one thing: Zane was completely oblivious to it. It made her laugh, really, but not at the expense of her friend. She just thought it was funny how unbothered Zane was. Kass could wear a shirt with Zane's face on it and he still wouldn't know.

Laurel entered a moment later, introducing a girl named Brooklyn to the rest of the group. Kris thought she'd seen her around before, and could tell she was definitely a few year older than her, but she seemed cool. Had to be, if she was gonna be around here. Not one to be the welcoming committee, she just nodded at Brooklyn, a smile present on her face nonetheless.

Zeke chastised Zane for his language and she scoffed. "Please, like we don't hear worse on a daily basis." Laughing, she rolled her eyes. Zeke also asked how she and Nik met, and she cast a sideways smirk in his direction. That had been a fun day, and a surprisingly fun date, too. Hence why they were still together.

It may or may not surprise people to find out that Kris wasn't a virgin. But on the other hand, she wasn't a slut, either. She played hard to get, and she played it well. She wasn't on the pill, and definitely didn't want to pop out a baby. Leaning against Nik, pressing her body to his, she leaned up to whisper in his ear. "Maybe later, hot stuff."

She planted a kiss on his neck, biting down gently before pulling away. Moving away from Nik, she looped her arm through Kass'. "C'mon. Let's go dip our feet into the pool."

Zane came over here enough that he was used to everyone, and he was also used to the house hardly ever being empty. Kass was the first to greet him, and he shot her a friendly smile as she leaned against the counter. "You kidding?" He laughed, nodding towards Ethan. "Like I'd miss a crazy Carson party. Not in this lifetime." It was true, the Carson's never had an uninteresting time.

Kris introduced the room to her obviously older boyfriend, and even though Zane looked at her like a younger sister, he knew better than to delve into her personal life. The little bitch could be creative as hell sometimes, especially when angry, and she hit pretty decent for a girl. So he just nodded towards Nik, and would have raised a beer if he had one.

Speaking of. "I need a drink." Pushing himself up off the counter, he looked down at the cooler Zeke and Ethan were looking at. "In there, I take it? Come on." Grabbing one side, he waited until someone grabbed the other before starting to walk backwards, out of the door with it. There were other people outside celebrating (and one guy streaking) to which Zane responded by dropping the cooler, popping it open and grabbing a beer.

"Might need to make a beer run later." He shrugged, lifting the beer to the naked guy as he ran past the yard. "At least he's not bad looking." Pulling a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, he felt around and then groaned. "Hey, man, can I use your lighter?" He turned to look at Jax, pissed he'd forgot his own.

Kass was just about to open her mouth, wanting to spark more conversation with Zane, when Kris pulled her away from the group. She didn't mind though. She just nodded in agreement as they walked out the door in unison and towards the pool. She slipped out of her sandals, looking around to see who else might've been within earshot. "What the hell do I gotta do to get his attention?" she complained.

She'd not been very shy in her flirting but he still didn't notice, he just seemed to take it as her being friendly. Kass was definitely the type to have guys chasing after her. Not that she went for most of them but she liked the attention. Zane was so oblivious that she wasn't sure if he just really didn't notice it or if he was trying to be nice by acting as if he didn't know.

"Last Thursday, I ran into him and I had on those jeans I got from Lacey's Thrift Store. You know, the tight ones that make my ass look good. I don't think he even looked once!" she groaned. She rolled her eyes, finally putting her feet into the pool and giving up on her complaints. "So, you and this Nic, huh? How long have you been dating? You never told me about him!" she said curiously.

Phoenix said hello to her brother Sky before noticing Zane was here. She smiled widely. She loved the cool looking guys that her older siblings were friends with. They liked similar music to her and let her ramble on about football for hours. They were definitely the kind of people she wanted to be around. She followed everyone back outside and ran up to Zane and her brothers. She had a buzz surrounding her because of the party. It was going to be fun and she was almost bouncing off the walls. "Zane! Zane! Zane," she said excitedly. "I have a real good shot of making the league this year." All she wanted to talk about was football and music and who better to talk to then people who actually care about those topics, her elder brothers and their friends. She made grabby hands at the young men hoping one of them would pick her up.

Laurel couldn't help but laugh a little at her sisters obvious flirting. She shook her head and grabbed two wine coolers before Zane and _________ took the ice chest outside. She offered the second one to Brooklyn and leaned on the now empty counter. "So, Zeke. You the one cooking today?" she asked, motioning to his apron but not mentioning the color. She didn't really take him as the grilling type so he'd probably get out of it by having one of the other many guys do it but who knows. The Carson's were always full of surprises.

She took a sip from the cold neck of the bottle. It felt better to be drinking the alcohol than serving it for once. She'd been working a lot and while she was grateful for the hours because she desperately needed them, she was also thankful to Jackson for this day off. "So, you're a mechanic? Maybe I'll bring my car by your shop. It's been running hot lately and I really can't afford a new car right now. Where do you work?" she asked, taking another drink. She really did need someone to look at her car but she was also trying to include him in conversation since Kris left him for Kassandra.
