I think that's implied, but it's not stated explicitly. I could maybe make it part of the binding?
Yeah I’d be down with including it in either the bonding or ritual narratively. Just as long as we call it out.

So, now, are there any rolls needed?

Yeah, as per Demon of the First Circle, I roll Int + Occ against the elemental's Resolve. It isn't printed in Ex3, but going by its Ex2 stats, that'd be (Wits + Integrity)/2 = 2. In Ex3, it'd likely have a slightly higher Resolve, but I leave that to your judgment. Zoya's gonna throw her full Excellency at the problem regardless. So that's 18 dice. Very bad roll, but still 5 sux should be plenty.

Perfect.

So, we have one Elemental bound. And it's stuck to the task of attempting to heal using the Touch of Grace charm? Or do you have to give it instructions at that point?

Sorry. Somehow I missed that as a question for me to answer.

Zoya will bind it with the task of "heal these members of the white elk tribe quickly and courteously. Then dissolve back into Essence." Unless anyone spots something with that wording that's like to go terribly wrong.

Unless our Storyteller's able to find some loophole in that wording that they decide to abuse, that works for me.

Summon Elemental generates a new living being if I recall correctly. Would we expect an uncorrupted creation spirit to run amok unattended if it continued it's life unbound?

I don't see the risk being a substantial concern from what I understand. I learn more about the world and the game all the time though, and this game already has some interesting forces at work in the spirit department. I'm sure whatever complications arise, if any, won't distract from the plot.

While it's true that Ex3 means that spirits are created out of Essence, they're still specific species of elemental, and the Sobeksis in particular has some bad manners that I want to make sure this one doesn't act on.

So it's got the temperament of a territorial chihuahua and the teeth to cause trouble? Fair enough. Might be simpler to bind it in personal service then since we might see more of this disease as we approach the Shadowland. Zoya would also be able to witness it dissipate rather than trust it to do so.

Yes, but that would require us sticking around for a few days, and there's a number of circlemembers who insist on leaving in the morning.

Just bind it to the task of healing the refugees, with the order to go back to whence it came from once it is done.

Does being bound to your service require it to be in close proximity? I don't recall that being a thing, but it sounds like it certainly could be.

No, but if I leave it behind with an order, it's basically the same as task-binding it.

Maybe attach some Hippocratic ‘do no harm’ rules to it as well, just in case the spirit decides to loosely define what heal means.

Yup. Sounds good here.

I'll open the scene with the results.

No worries! You can just tell me here what you decide to have them do and I'll note it.

Bailey would go personally to investigate with her men. Peacefully, of course, at least as much as Afureru can appear peaceful. She would see what their business is. If they were with the camp, she'd escort the back safetly, if they were random travelers she would press further into what their business is and if they seem harmless send them on a detour tha leads them away from the potentially contaminated zone.

Are we holding for anything in particular on me? I don't want to keep everyone waiting.

Random Word Random Word
Just to check, did Sigrdrífa erect her lodge on our side of the river, or the far side? I only know for certain that she headed over to the far side to grab her raft-thing.

She's not excited about camping next to plague victims, but I don't have a strong preference for which side of the river she's on. If there's a fun reason for her to be on one side or the other I'm fine with either.

Just thinking about having Makuro - after spotting her construction of the lodge - either ask her whether Solars do anything by halves, or make a remark about how eager she seems to build herself a house for a nomad who doesn't have much apparent love for "civilized" life. The river's a mile wide, so if she's on the other side, odds are he isn't going to see it.

Hmm, perhaps he'd still notice from Toun procuring a cart to haul back a mammoth carcass? Generally supplies, carts, wagons and such would be handled by the staff in Afureru's company I'd think.
