Despite being the oldest vampire of the four, Malakai certainly wasn't the most responsible or wisest, or even the most mature. In some ways, he was the least of all those things. He was the type of man to go with the flow, and let many things roll off his back. In fact, at his job where he was an executive chef, the turnover rate was extremely low compared to other restaurants. Generally, the head chef was the drill sergeant that drove them all away. But Kai? He was the chill dude that cooked family meal for everyone every Sunday, paid for after-shift drinks at the local bar, and taught those that wanted to learn so they could work their way up in the industry. At least he was mature in that regard. While everyone that worked for him was human, and he had slept with a couple of his female employees, the brunette vampire would never drink from them. Despite ignoring the rule about mixing work and pleasure, drinking from those that knew him well was absolutely a no-go. And, to be honest, he liked his job. Might as well hold on to it as long as possible.

One thing he had learned over his long, neverending life was that eventually, those around him would realize that he wasn't growing older. Sure, it would take a long time, several years even. They would start by saying that he looked good for his age, which would eventually turn into questions about his diet or his plastic surgeon, or something else ridiculous like that. And finally, they would start to think something wasn't quite right. And it was at that moment that Malakai would have to change jobs or, if the town was too small for that to work effectively, move somewhere else. While it always sucked to have to find a new job and start over, there was an infinite number of places that he could go and explore. Okay, maybe not infinite. But damn near close. The world was his oyster, no pun intended. Kai and his brothers had been in Philadelphia for quite some time now, and he enjoyed it. It would suck when he eventually had to leave. But until then, he would enjoy all the sinful pleasures the city had to offer.

The brunette vampire looked over at Zachariah, tilting his head as the more muscular man rejoined them. "Turns out those witches had a sense of humor, which is never good for the likes of them," he replied with an annoyed tone in his voice. Seeing the way his brother looked at one of the brunette huntresses, Kai found himself backing away. He knew that Zach might seem like a big intelligent softy, but he could be quite stubborn and even intimidating if he wanted to be. Glancing at Elektra, Kai couldn't help but grin at his gruff brother. "Come on, Zach. I think this could be just the thing you need to get some excitement in your life. You're always whittling and by yourself. She seems like a spitfire, might be fun to have around," he teased with a sarcastic smirk gracing his features. If he were being honest with himself, Kai was jealous of Zach's outlook on life, that he understands emotions and can cope with them in healthy ways rather than the reckless endangerment Kai often finds himself in. But, the older brunette vampire wasn't great at introspection, so he could never admit those things.

"Well, I better find my indefinite play date," Malakai said, turning to look at the remaining woman while rubbing his palms together almost like a supervillain. Trent was practically dragging his blonde huntress from the building, Zach's was fairly obvious given the previous course of events, and Toby had his arms wrapped around the far-too-serious blonde. Which left the pretty brunette he had attempted to check on earlier before being stabbed. Kai's chocolate brown eyes searched for her but didn't see her. He could feel her presence, though, and followed that sensation to a set of crates. Peering into the cracks, he only saw a flash of soft skin and brown hair before reaching in to pull her out. He didn't see her bloody words scrawled on the floor, and just assumed the strong, delicious scent was from the wound on her shoulder. "There you are, darling. It's time to show you your new home. And maybe get that shoulder cleaned up before I do something I regret." Malakai picked Rowan up as though she weighed nothing and sat her on her feet. "Follow me."

Seeing what a vampire can do to a person is one thing. The whole Fable family had been working in the hunting area for generations now. But witnessing it first hand the way Ellie did, it created a large hole in her heart and she couldn’t find it in her to not despise the bloodsuckers for what they were. Alex was her best friend, her confidante and her protector. He was the only person who supported her decision not to join the so-called family business. All Ellie ever wanted was a normal life, not filled with guns, knives and bows, without vampires, werewolves and other creatures of the darkness. And then Alex got bitten when protecting her and her friends. Ellie never truly forgave herself and felt it was partially her fault. She vowed to find the vampire who took Alex away from her and torture him to death.

Not even her parents were truly any support to her. It was them who decided to examine the effects of vampire venom from up close and experimented on their own son. For weeks, months even, Alex was in pain, he went through literal torture and when the chance occurred, he begged Ellie to end the ordeal for him. He held her hands wrapped around hers when she placed the stake to his heart. Poor girl could barely see as the tears veiled her eyes and after the pointy stick pierced her brother’s heart, he smiled. It was the single most horrible thing she had ever seen. Her brother was happy to die because it meant he was free from all the horrors their parents had in store for him. And Ellie turned bitter.

Realizing she had actually been bound to the creature she hated the most, Elektra was abhorred. He was towering over her and her heart was ready to jump out of her chest. Things started to happen around her. The angry blonde vampire looked like his patience ran out. His hand wrapped around Arianna’s arm and he dragged her away despite her protests. Rae and Ro were not any better off, grabbed by the other two vamps and here Ellie was, facing a question from “her own” vampire. Would she prefer? God, there were so many things she would prefer at this moment but none of them was leaving with him and all of them were violent. And the worst part? She couldn’t act on her instinct since it would only hurt her as well.

“Don’t you dare to touch me.” she squeezed through her teeth. “I’m not going anywhere with you. If you think you can just drag me to whatever den you live in, think again.” Ellie had to tilt her head back to actually look in his eyes but she still took a step closer and jabbed his hard chest with her index finger, tapping the muscle with every word she uttered. “Over my dead body.” she hissed and took a few steps back, testing the boundaries, trying to figure out how that whole “having-to-stay-close-at-all-times” thing worked. She heard the other men tease Zach and her head whipped to the side and she glared at them. If looks could kill, there would be way too many dead bodies as Ellie stared daggers. And she hated how powerless she was because as much as she wanted to hurt them all, she knew that in the end, it would be her and her friends who’d pay the price.

Trenton

Trenton was sort of a peculiar person. There were quite a few things he didn’t enjoy and his patience was not limitless either. And once the revelation was made that he was bound to the huntress and couldn’t even suck her dry of blood, it was the very moment his patience ran out. They couldn’t part ways so for him there was only one real solution. And so he grabbed the fiery blonde and decided to take her home. His house was large enough for them both and hopefully the bond would allow them to walk around the building and not bump into each other all the time. It wasn’t an ideal solution. It wasn’t even a good one. But honestly, what else could he do? Wander the streets until some witch gracefully decided to lift the curse? Well, the question was if it was even possible or if Trent was condemned to walk around with a human keychain for all eternity. He could have at least gotten one who yapped less.

Naturally, there were a few things Arianna had to say about the whole situation but Trent wasn’t interested. The warehouse had nothing to offer anymore and the smell of blood was torturing his nostrils way too much. He was extremely hungry at this point and the lot who was supposed to be dinner tonight was now untouchable. He wouldn’t touch Ari for obvious reasons and he wouldn’t hurt his brothers either so the only obvious thing was to leave. Being called an oversized mosquito made him groan but the grip on her pale skin never loosened. She fought him but it meant nothing to his strength and Trent made his way outside, taking long steps in an attempt to put as much distance between him and the warehouse from hell as possible.

Arianna kept throwing yells and insults at him but they all just bounced off, not phasing the vampire at all. It was the constant fighting and tugging that caused him to growl and stop abruptly. He spun on his heel and stared death at the blonde, ready to tell her off. But she was a fast little weasel and before he could react, searing pain spilled in his neck. Trent roared in pain and let go of her to grab her shoe sticking from his neck and threw it aside. Another waft of fresh blood hit his nose, Arianna screamed and Trenton saw red. And not because there was blood everywhere and Ari wore a dress which would send all corrida bulls raging. “Stupid girl!” he yelled at her and stared at blood oozing out of her neck. “You’re going to kill us both. Don’t you have any brains in that blonde head of yours?” he asked her and sighed in frustration as he tore his shirt open and took it off. He pressed it on the wound. “Hold it there and pray we both survive. Jesus fucking Christ, unbelievable.”

There were way too many thoughts in Trent’s head at this point. “If I hear one more word from you, I’m knocking you out. You’re coming with me whether you’re conscious enough to remember the way or not.” he told her and scooped her up in his arms. His own wound was already healing but hers required proper treatment and dressing. There was no time for him to waste if he wanted to see another day. His vampire speed was the only way and Trent whooshed from the warehouse, rushing to his house only to arrive at a cul-de-sac part of the town in under ten minutes. He and his friends had their homes there and it was a rather empty part of the neighborhood so they all were free to enjoy their activities without nosy Karens staring in their windows. The only question was how calm and quiet was it going to be now when four women, their mortal enemies, were being brought here.

Rowan
Three years ago, Rowan would have believed the night’s events only to be possible in works of fiction. Ignorant of her curse and the supernatural beings that managed to exist hidden amongst humans, she’d lived a happy and carefree life that seemed limitless… but now… she was all too familiar with life’s darker side. And how precious time was.

Even before this new curse, it was tempting to let herself be consumed by self pity and anger, and waste the rest of her life dreading what was to come. However, Rowan tried to push past that in order to take advantage of what months, weeks, or days she did have left. Even if that was becoming more and more difficult to do. She could feel the desperation to break the curse building within her each day, and every now and then that desperation would manifest itself as rage that she hid from others. Only in her solitude would she release everything she bottled up out and wreak havoc on anything breakable within reach as angry tears broke free of their tight restraint… Sure, distractions like nights on the town with Elektra helped Rowan forget her fate. Temporarily at least. But the clock was always ticking.

After tonight’s events though, it was only natural that Rowan could feel the same rage threatening to take over. Unfortunately, now was not the time and she only intended to allow herself just a few moments for overwhelmed tears to spill out as she caught her breath behind the crate. However, even those seconds weren’t a luxury she was afforded as a strong hand curled around her arm. There you are, darling. Before Ro could protest or resist, she was effortlessly pulled out from her hiding place and found herself facing the vampire she’d been targeting earlier. The one she was now apparently bound to.

“New home?” Rowan echoed skeptically, quickly blinking away the remnants of her tears as she lifted her chin defiantly to hide her emotions. She studied the vampire intently, her blue gaze only breaking away from his for a moment to glance at her shoulder when he referred to cleaning it up before he did something he’d regret. She let out a dry laugh, glancing back up. “A exercise of self-restraint, hm…” She smirked mockingly, finding some small satisfaction in Kai’s inability to indulge as he’d like. She was an enticing, blood-coated mess and she couldn’t be touched. Well, not unless the vampire before her was into self-harm. Ro might still be suffering the effects of his wound, but so was he, just in a different way. Twisted poetic justice.

It was becoming clear, as her fellow huntresses were taken away, that resisting any of the vampires would be an act of futility, accomplishing nothing but wasting time. And again, that was the last thing Rowan had any interest in wasting. Arianna and Raven were already gone, and as the brunette sought out Ellie it looked like she too was losing the battle of wills. The large vampire had caught both her hands and was doing his own version of a pat down. Rowan’s eyes narrowed as her blood boiled, and she took a couple step towards Elektra wanting to intervene. “What are you the fucking TSA? She’s not hiding a bo-” Ro called over, her words dying on her lips when the vampire leveled a glare in her direction, the muscles in his jaw tightening dangerously. Deciding it best not to add anymore gasoline to the fire that held Elektra’s fate in his hands, the brunette just shot her friend an apologetic glance, hoping that her bloody message would somehow work and they would all get through this.

Besides… perhaps this new development could have its own benefits. After all, Rowan hadn’t joined the organization of Vampire Hunters to kill them but rather find one that could help her beat the curse by making her immortal. So…

“Well, I imagine I don’t have much say in the matter,” Rowan huffed turning back to Kai. “And that,” she warned, waving a hand in Ellie and Zach’s direction, “will not be necessary.” With that, Rowan turned on her heels and stalked towards the warehouse doors where the others had disappeared without waiting for Kai to lead. She had too much pride to be dragged, so she opted to leave on her own accord. Even if she had no idea where they were going. Only when her hot skin was soothed by the cool morning air outside did she slow her steps and turn back to Kai.

“You know, usually when I go home with a guy, I at least know his name…” Rowan quipped, realizing that detail had been lost in the fray.

Zachariah
There was a time, in those first few years as a vampire during the war, when Zachariah Crowley wasn’t the pragmatic man he was today. If he could still be considered a man. His control and disdain for killing were all but nonexistent and he fed on enemy soldiers to sustain himself and help the war efforts. Though the latter was perhaps a happy accident and later excuse he used to justify his lack of humanity. Though did it really matter if it was bullets or teeth that killed Nazis? Even so, once the world’s war was won, Zach returned home and did his best to repair his morals. And now, he didn’t like to look for trouble when things were peaceful.

However, the dark haired woman, as Toby was so entertained to point out, looked to be nothing but trouble. Zach just let out an unamused grunt, ignoring his de facto brother as he dealt with the blonde. The large man had enough problems without letting Toby get under his skin. Or Kai, who gave his two cents as well. “Our definitions of fun often seem to differ…” Zach replied, watching the eldest vampire for a moment as he rubbed his hands together almost excitedly. Or maybe maniacally. There were times that Zachariah worried about Kai’s disconnect from life. The two couldn’t be more opposite at times, but perhaps that was the fate that awaited them all once they’d been removed from mortality for as long as Kai had… And so Zachariah just held onto his own beliefs tighter and didn’t fault Malakai for his. Or seemingly lack there of.

A finger prodding into his chest brought Zach back to the situation at hand and he glowered down at Elektra as she punctuated each of her words with another jab. Over my dead body. Even for Zach, in this moment it would have been tempting to dispatch this huntress if it wouldn’t lead to his own demise as well. Who was she to play high and mighty? Zach tried to avoid killing his victims if at all possible yet she had come here to murder him and his brothers… how did that make her better?

Elektra moved away from Zach once more, but he instantly closed that distance once more as well. His patience was wearing thin and he needed more time than standing in the warehouse would allow to gather his thoughts. Easily capturing both her hands in one of his, he held her in place, lifting her up slightly so she had no footing. “If you think I can’t drag you anywhere I wish, think again.” He retorted, his eyes darkening. Just in case the huntress got any high and mighty ideas of sacrificing herself to take him out, he began sliding his free hand along her body. Roughly searching her, he relieved her person of any potential weapons that could harm them both. The brunette with Kai called over, angered by the frisk, and he ground his teeth, twisting his head in her direction sharply to silence her with a threatening look.

“Now…” Zach growled, facing Elektra once more as she dangled before him. “It’s time to go.” He released Ellie’s hands, but before she even had time to regain her footing, he’d used his inhuman speed to retrieve a rope from the warehouse and bind her hands together. “Remember, you chose the hard way…” He ground out, taking the other end of the rope and yanking her along with him. It had been difficult to move away from Elektra with the curse when she didn’t want to leave… but in a match of strength, he could easily overpower her when they were bound by his own method. And so he did. If she would prefer to be dragged like a prisoner of war, so be it. That’s how he’d treat her.

Trent
Stabbing him in the neck with her shoe was downright stupid, but you know what they say. Hindsight was 20/20. Honestly, it was an action that the others probably would have expected from her, and that only fueled her anger further. But what's done was done, and the searing pain in her neck was a stabbing reminder of that. He did let go of her, but she only succeeded in stumbling backwards, her hand flying to her neck to cover the blood coming from the ghost wound. None of it made sense to Arianna, but she couldn't focus on that right now.

Her eyes flew to him when he threw her shoe aside, yelling at her that she was stupid. Which, granted, it was a stupid move. She narrowed her eyes at him, though she was rendered speechless when he tore his shirt and removed it. Just because he was her enemy didn't mean she couldn't appreciate the body he had, even if she screamed at herself for doing so. Even if that wasn't his intention, she remained silent as her hand lifted to press the shirt to the still bleeding wound on her neck. Feeling a little bit like a fish out of water as she gaped at him, unable to even think of a retort, her eyes flew up to him when he threatened to knock her out. "Don't-" She started to speak, but before she could even get the statement out, he scooped her into his arms.

The shirt slipped some but she quickly pressed it back to the wound on her neck, wincing slightly at the pain. She didn't have long to think on it before he was suddenly moving, his speed fast enough that she had to squeeze her eyes shut to prevent herself from feeling sick. She curled her head into him, only opening her eyes when she was sure he'd stopped moving, at least at the fast speed. Slowly, she turned her head to look, breathing a sigh of relief when she realized she was safe. Or, well... as safe as she could be, in the arms of a vampire. She snuck a glance his way, trying not to make it obvious that she was doing so. That sharp jawline was tense, his eyes filled with what she thought might be annoyance as he walked into his home. Well, he wasn't the only one annoyed.

Tearing her eyes away from him, Arianna looked instead at the home they entered. "I can walk." She insisted, though she made no move to push herself down and out of his arms. Not because she wanted to be close to him, but because despite her insistance, she wasn't sure her legs would keep her up right now. Though the bleeding had stopped thanks to the pressure she'd applied, she just felt... tired. She didn't know why, considering that she was a hunter, and supposed to be built for getting the shit beat out of her. But it certainly was frustrating, and downright obnoxious. Letting out a soft sigh, Ari slowly removed his shirt from her neck, reaching up with her fingers to gingerly touch the wound. Definitely not bleeding, but tender as all hell, as though the heel had gone through her own flesh and not his. "Fuck."

Rae
Toby wasn't ignorant to how Rae was feeling. He could see it when she turned to look at him, hear it in the way she talked to him. But even beyond that, she was watching her friends being dragged away by the other vampires, and ultimately, it would happen to her too. He felt her stiffen under his touch, and he just grinned in response to her curt words. "Might as well, though." He winked at her before he released her, holding out his arm for her to take. When it became clear she wasn't going to do so, he just shrugged and started to walk out of the warehouse, glancing over his shoulder at her when she jogged to catch up to him. Instead of getting angry at her jabs, he just chuckled again, sliding his hands into his pockets. "Guess you'll just have to be surprised."

Though, it would take a long while to walk to the house from here. He stopped once they reached the wooded area, seeming to be thinking of something before he turned to her. "I know you don't want to touch me, so you'll have to forgive me for not asking your permission here." And without warning, he scooped her up, grinning down at her before he took off. Using his speed, he held her carefully against him as he zoomed through the town to get to his front steps. Setting her down, he made sure she was steady before he reached around her to grab the doorknob. Twisting it, he pushed on it gently, gesturing with his head for her to step inside first. Even if she didn't want to, she really had no other choice, and he had all the time in the world to wait for her to decide.

He followed her inside, not bothering to lock the door when he shut the door behind them. Anyone stupid enough to try and break into a vampires house deserved what they got. "You may have noticed the other houses around." He mentioned casually, as he walked past her, towards the kitchen. "Luckily for you, the other three houses belong to Trent, Zach, and Kai. So your little huntress friends are nearby, if that makes you feel any better." Since their meals had been taken away from them, in a rude fashion at that, Toby headed straight for the fridge. Pulling it open, he reached into the bottom drawer and pulled out two blood bags, turning to face her while his foot lifted to kick the door shut. "And, with that being said, they're probably in good hands. None of us are suicidal."

Sinking down into one of the chairs, he tossed the bloodbags onto the table, drumming his fingers on the dark wood before his eyes found her again. "I guess we can figure shit out tomorrow. What we're gonna do from here, I mean. No offense to you, you're a beautiful girl and I'm sure you taste divine, but having you bound to me is really gonna cramp my style." Plucking one of the bags off of the table, he turned it this way and that in his hands. "Bloodbags work in a pinch, but it's nothing like having the real thing, if you know what I mean." His lips curled up into a smirk, and he pointed at her with the bloodbag. "And just like I don't expect you to hide when you eat, I'm not hiding when I do." Bringing the bag closer, he sank his fangs into the corner, wrinkling his nose at the cold blood but still drinking it all within seconds. "Got any ideas as to where to start looking to break this damn curse?" He asked her casually when he finished, reaching for the second bag.

Toby ( apolla apolla )

Raven's cold cynicism was a wall that protected her, both mentally and physically. It kept people at bay, saved her from feeling the hurt that came with lost loved ones again. If she didn't have people she cared about, then their likely untimely deaths that came with their line of work wouldn't affect her. At least, that's what she told herself. In reality, Rae did care about her fellow hunters in the Organization. Deep down, she thought of them as her family, replacing the one she had lost all those years ago. Her heart ached at the loss of the others that were with them that night, but she continued to ignore it. She felt panic from being separated from Ari, Ro, and Ellie, but she pushed it down. The blonde believed her mind was a fortress, and anything in or out would just eventually cause distress. The last thing she needed at that moment when she was forced to follow a deadly vampire to an unknown location in the middle of the night was for her mind to play tricks on her and knock her off her game.

This vampire's complete lack of response to her curt insults annoyed Raven more than she showed, but she scoffed and crossed her arms over chest nonetheless. Her icy blue eyes saw the dark forest ahead and she instinctively placed a hand on her sheathed blade. Walking into a dark forest wasn't one of her favorite things, but it didn't scare her. Entering one bound to a vampire who no doubt had a million and one enemies? Now that was a bit terrifying. While she was semi-sure he wouldn't willingly let her die, not when his own life was on the line, he could probably endure far more pain than she could. So, Rae didn't put it entirely past him to let her suffer a bit at the hands of another creature before swooping in to save the day. Reaching the edge of the trees, she found herself taking a few steps in before realizing the bloodsucker had stopped. Turning back to face him, her heart began to race ever so slightly. "Look, I don't know what you're planning. But need I remind you that if I get hurt, so do you? So, let's just--" the blonde began to say but paused when he spoke up. "Don't you fucking-" But before she could even finish that sentence, she was in his arms.

Raven felt wind rush through her hair, whistling past her ears. She dared look down, but only saw a blur that was supposed to be the ground. Her stomach turned and she immediately closed her eyes, not enjoying the feeling of moving so fast. Thankfully, it was over almost as quickly as it had started, and soon she was set on her feet. Rae faltered a bit but quickly steadied herself, looking up at the row of townhouses with confusion clear in her icy blue gaze. "Where are we?" she questioned, barely catching sight of what looked like Ari entering another one of the homes. They lived together? That challenged so much of what she knew about vampires. They weren't known to be social creatures, let alone purchase homes to be near one another. What the hell was going on? Rae kept those questions to herself, however, and stepped through the doorway into the surprisingly well-kept home. Her blue gaze traced along the walls, clocking doors, and windows that would be easy escapes if needed. Better prepared and safe than surprised and sorry.

"Well, at least you're not all totally daft," Raven responded, following him to the kitchen. The metallic smell of blood filled the air, practically assaulting her senses. She winced a bit but said nothing, leaning against the doorway with her arms crossed over her chest once again. "Believe me, this is the last place I want to be either," she muttered, though the thought of him assuming his safety after the curse was broken amused her greatly. She rolled her eyes and looked away as he bit into the blood bag, catching sight of herself in a nearby wall mirror. The blonde tilted her head, feeling as though she didn't quite recognize the woman she found there, like she was an imposter in her own skin. Her eyes seemed darker, not in color, but like her soul had darkened. Rae was pulled from her thoughts by Toby speaking up once again. "Hmm?" she hummed, turning to meet his gaze, "Oh right. Well, if I had access, I would say the library back at home. But, there's no way they would let you in without driving a stake through your heart... I could maybe call and make some inquiries. But even that might be a recipe for disaster. Finding those witches might be a better, safer option. Do you know them?"

Malakai was known for planning their little dinner parties, their boy's nights, and he had always quite enjoyed them. He found pleasure in finding beautiful women, or even men in some cases, for him and his brothers to party with and feast upon. They were all on the good-looking end of things, and this group of huntresses had been no different. While some of his brothers might prefer blonde, there was something about the dark silky locks of gorgeous brunette that always seemed to pique his interest. They could be dark and mysterious, sweet and spicy, or anywhere in between, he didn't much care. But somehow, they always tasted more divine to him, the sweetest ambrosia. And he was sure the huntress in front of him was no different, she certainly smelled amazing. But, she was his forbidden fruit for the moment, as portrayed by the dull ache in his shoulder mirroring the wound on hers.

Kai had been immortal for so long that sometimes he wondered what it would feel like to fear for his life again. Vampires weren't invincible by any means. But he was so old and so well-versed that there was little if anything that could kill him. But, now he was presented with a new opportunity. Bound to a human meant that, effectively, he was human too. Or at least as weak as a human. Was it selfish to wonder how it would feel to experience real pain again? Maybe just a little bit. But did the brunette man still wonder? Absolutely. Whatever the case, it had already been a long day, and those explorations would have to wait for later. Right then, he just wanted to go home, grab a blood bag cocktail, and relax in front of his fireplace. "Yes, your new home. Not sure where you're from, but I have a sinking suspicion that they're not too fond of us 'bloodsuckers' there," he replied with sarcasm dripping from his tone, emphasizing the word 'bloodsuckers.'

Appreciating her attempt at defiance and sass, Malakai chuckled lowly. "Trust me, darling," he said, leaning in close to whisper lowly in her ear, "I think you'd quite enjoy the things I would do to you if I could." Leaning back, he smirked down at her, slipping his hands into the pockets of his black pants. His eyes flickered over to Zach, watching as he deep-searched her. Ever the cautious one, that brother of his. Kai could honestly care less if his new roommate had weapons on her. He doubted she was suicidal, so no sense in worrying too much about what weapons she might have. And besides, as he thought earlier, a little bit of pain might be welcoming. The brunette turned back to the huntress in front of him. "No, you really don't. But trust me, I'm a joy to be around," he responded under his breath, watching her stomp away outside into the chilly air. Kai let her go, giving her that bit of time to calm down a bit. Waiting until he felt the pull, Kai finally followed after her.

The breeze caught the edges of Malakai's denim overshirt and ruffled through his hair a bit, but he didn't feel the cold. The huntress couldn't get far because one, they were bound and he had a feeling he was just a bit stronger than her, and two, she had no idea where he lived. Or at least, he didn't think she did. He walked behind her for a bit, fast enough so that she didn't gain any ground on him, but slow enough that he didn't on her. Finally, she stopped, giving him time to catch up. "So you're saying you take men home a lot?" Kai teased, wanting to push her buttons just a bit. Reaching out to take her hand, he bowed to kiss the back of it, ever the flirt as he added, "My name is Malakai Scott, pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss...?"

Elektra

warehouse

The life of a huntress was not an easy one and more often than not, it meant loneliness, excessive training sessions, having to educate herself all the time and basically, endless and tiring work. Elektra Fable never wanted this life and she had a proper reason. She had seen what it did to her parents, what it did to her brother. When Alex returned with that fateful bite, Ellie couldn’t believe it. In a way, she was convinced it was her fault. She spent days and weeks at his bed and watched him undergo the whole transition. She watched his better days and held him on the worse. He cried, screamed and begged her as his thirst needed to be quenched. If he asked her, she would have opened her own vein to let him drink so he wouldn’t be in pain anymore. And when their parents took him to the Institute to conduct experiments, Ellie never left his side.

It was Alex who indirectly brought her to the huntress path. And on the day he convinced her to end his suffering, something broke in Ellie and she started to train harder than before, vowing to herself that she would find the sucker who did this to Alex and she would bring suffering ten times worse upon him. Since that day, she killed every monster that crossed her path and became more ferocious, more violent and more cruel than ever before. It was only natural that when this job came along, Ellie didn’t even blink and took it. She couldn’t have known witches had different plans and she would end up bound to the largest vampire of the four.

Hatred was coursing through her veins as she backed away from the asshole vamp who seemed to think he owned her now. But when he removed that tiny distance between them and his large form towered over her, Ellie shrunk even more. His hands ran across her body as she fixed him with a flat look. “Seriously? Where do you think I hid a weapon? There’s only one of us with something up their ass and that ain’t me.” she provoked him more but then he found the knife she hid in her boot and Ellie cussed under her breath. Rowan called from the side but when Ellie saw the look on the vampire’s face, she wished Ro was quiet. The last thing the brunette wanted was for her best friend to get hurt by an unpredictable predator.

Ellie’s hands started to go slightly numb when he finally let her go but before she had a chance to react, he zoomed in and out and wrapped some rope around her. “Wow. That’s the only way you know how to bring a girl home, huh?” she spat at him against her better judgment. He could do terrible things to her and Ellie just exploited the fact that he couldn’t kill her without ending himself as well. She even tried to dig her heels into the ground as he started to drag her away. Not that it helped her. Even if he was human, his size would be doing him a huge favor and he would be three times stronger than her. With his vampy skills, Ellie stood no chance with her hands bound and weapons gone. Ellie stumbled after him and tried to keep up which was difficult, considering her choice of footwear. After twisting both ankles a few times and thanking all the saints she didn’t sprain them, after a few stumbles and a lot of cursing, they arrived at a cul-de-sac area and Ellie raised her left brow. “This is where you live?” she asked, clearly unable to believe her own eyes. “I’d guess an underground flea-infested lair would be more to your liking.”

Trenton

warehouse

This whole time, Trenton was under the impression that hunters were supposed to be smart and cunning but what he just witnessed was possibly the dumbest thing he had ever seen one of them do. Who in their right mind would hurt the enemy they were bound to? Especially knowing that inflicting a serious injury would be caused to them as well? If his skin didn’t feel like it was on fire, Trenton would probably be rendered speechless. But since she did not have his perk of miraculous healing, there was no time to hesitate and for now, he had to satisfy himself by just yelling at her before trying to stop the bleeding. She could have killed herself right there if she hit him a bit differently. Apparently, it never occurred to her.

Ignoring her protests, Trent scooped her up and made sure his shirt was still pressed on her neck. He didn’t feel comfortable being half naked right now but desperate times required desperate measures and if he wanted to save his own ass, he needed to save hers as well. “Don’t you don’t me.” he growled at her. “Next time, use your hunter brain. Can’t believe they let a rookie out like that. Your friends didn’t teach you anything or what?” he asked her just before they took off. Trent saw his brothers try and get away as well but he didn’t linger too long to wait around. He needed to be out of the warehouse yesterday and start assessing the whole situation. Moreover, where was the guarantee the witches were not there anymore? Trent had enough of their interference for one night. And someone was going to pay for this.

Finally they got to his house and Trent slowed down, walking inside. “Like hell.” he answered her. She could not walk, that much was clear. And if he believed her, he was sure she would crumple down after no more than three steps. Trent might have been a vampire but he was also a doctor. And a damn good one at that. She couldn’t lie to him in that area so he kept carrying her as they walked across his home. The house belonged only to him. His family, the real one, not his acquired brothers, lived elsewhere at the Callahan estate, away from the major part of the city. Trenton visited as often as he could but he liked his privacy, that’s why he got himself the house. Apparently, it was a good decision for more than one reason. His family didn’t need to see his new human keychain.

Trent walked upstairs with the blonde huntress in his arms and brought her to one of the rooms where he set her on the bed. “You should rest.” he told her in a very matter-of-fact way. He himself was disgusted by his own words, offering hospitality to his sworn enemy. “There’s a bathroom through that door, you can clean up. But let me warn you, if I feel as much as a nail file pinch, I don’t care how much I’ll hurt myself, you’ll regret even thinking about it, are we clear?” he asked in another set of growls. “I don’t know what’s going on in that pretty head of yours but do not try my patience. I know how to open the skull up and put it back together. Consider yourself warned.” Yes, he was more than annoyed by the development of the evening and his words reflected his bad mood very much. He was never an absolute ray of sunshine but tonight, he was absolutely enraged. And her attitude from before and the attack were not making it better. Not in the least.

Rowan
Pride may have been the primary motivating factor in Rowan stalking out of the warehouse ahead of her ball and chain, but the vampire’s whispered comment was a close second. I think you'd quite enjoy the things I would do to you if I could. The shiver of curiosity the bloodsucker elicited wasn’t something the brunette wanted to explore tonight, and she took the moments alone to try and anchor her emotions. The last few hours had been a lot, to say the very least, so it was no surprise that everything she was feeling right now wasn’t entirely rational. She’d already choked down anger, fear and panic out of self preservation, so what did that leave her? She definitely wasn’t happy, though a tiny part of her couldn’t help but be… hopeful? Maybe if she played her cards right this curse could ironically be the answer to breaking her original one? Or, it had doomed another- two for the price of one.

The huntress slowed to a stop as she glanced over her shoulder to wait for her new roommate to catch up. After enjoying the benefits of immortality, Rowan imagined he’d be in for quite the surprise to learn he likely had less than a year left on god’s green earth. As if God actually existed. Any belief in a higher, holy power had been snuffed out when she learned that humans weren’t the top of the food chain. And while Rowan didn’t really feel guilty for being the kiss of death, she wasn’t going to relish sharing the bad news. She hadn’t told anyone of her curse, and letting someone else in on her secret made her feel vulnerable. She didn’t want to see the pity in people’s eyes, but she had a feeling that wouldn’t be a problem in this situation.

Shaking off these thoughts, Rowan broke the silence by asking for the vampire’s name, in her own way. His teasing comment caught her slightly off guard though, and she arched an eyebrow. “I don’t think that’s what I said at all…” She countered, wincing a little when she habitually went to put her left hand on her hip. “But so what if I did? Life’s short, I’m not gonna miss out on fun for chastity’s sake.” Rowan added, not about to be shamed by a man who had hired escorts for the evening. Her ire was diluted though when his hand found hers and he bowed, kissing her hand. Blue eyes studied Malakai skeptically as he made a show of introducing himself. “Rowan.” She replied simply, making a point to ignore his charms. “What century are you from?” She inquired, half rhetorically, as she slowly slid her hand out of his. “You do have indoor plumbing, right?” Ro teased, beginning to walk once more, following a half step or two behind Kai as he led the way into the woods that bordered the warehouse district.

Normally, a young woman would be naïve or foolish to follow someone she’d just met into the dark forest in the twilight hours, but at this rate what was the worst that could happen? And it wasn’t like Rowan needed to worry about any other boogeymen lurking in the shadows when she was already with the deadliest creature of them all. Still, the brunette couldn’t help but feel a bit like Little Red Ridinghood- minus the cape. It did strike Ro odd that despite being in the chilly March air that she was still warm without her jacket, but it was a blessing right now so she wasn’t about to worry over it.

Starting to drift further and further behind Kai the longer they walked, the huntress was about to ask how much further they had to go when the trees gave way to a cul-de-sac of nearly identical town homes. Rowan stopped for a moment, looking from the back of Malakai’s form to the townhouse he was heading towards. A surprised laugh escaped her lips as she shook her head in disbelief. “Who knew…” She murmured to herself, jogging gingerly to catch up. “I would have taken you for more of a manor or excessive estate kind of guy…” Ro joked, glancing up at the relatively inconspicuous abode and tipping her head to the side. “It’s kinda more creepy though that you live somewhere so… normal.” She conceded, already starting to unzip her boots to free her aching feet before she even was inside.

Zachariah
Sure, Zachariah preferred to sustain himself on the blood of the fairer sex, but that sinister point aside, he considered himself rather respectful of women. His allure as a vampire gave him the ability to bend women to his will, but he never abused that power for anything more than a meal. He didn’t bed girls by the dozens or chase skirts or shamelessly hit on ladies at the bar. Boy’s night his with de facto brothers was one of the rare times he really appreciated the female form, and even then he knew his limits and which lines he was morally willing to cross.

Tonight those lines were becoming blurry though, and Zach focussed on the anger the huntress stirred in him rather than his conscience as he bound her hands together with rope. His eyes narrowed sharply as Elektra taunted his ability to bring women home only by force, and he pulled the ropes tighter against her skin. The uncomfortable pressure made its way to his own wrists, but it was barely a tickle to his dulled pain receptors. “Hardly,” was Zach’s only response before he began pulling the brunette behind him. All the others were already gone, and he was ready to be done with the miserable warehouse that had brought nothing but misfortune tonight. Unsurprisingly, Elektra did her best to dig her heels into the ground and resist the pull of her tether, but Zach just ignored her efforts, easily overpowering her with minimal exertion.

The walk back to Zachariah’s home was slow and silent, save for the curses that were uttered by the huntress. Judging by the lingering scents of blood amongst the damp trees, the vampire knew at least two of his brothers had taken this route as well with their new found wards. Glancing back at his own, Zach just let out a gruff sigh and tugged the rope to hasten the slow girl. Every now and then one of Elektra’s curses would be accompanied by a shooting pain in one of Zach’s ankles as she no doubt twisted her own, but he didn’t adjust his pace. Any patience or consideration he might have shown had been erased by all of the brunette’s earlier insults. If she was convinced he was a monster, then he wasn’t going to show any mercy by sparring her the long walk.

The eventual sight of his townhouse brought only a fleeting sense of relief… before Elektra opened her mouth again. “You guessed wrong.” He retorted, pulling the slack of the rope in until she was beside him before they left the cover of the trees. It was unlikely that any cars would come down to the dead end of the street at this time of morning, but he didn’t want to take any chances and have someone report him for suspicious activity. “If you’re disappointed though, I can always keep you in the crawl space.” Zach ground out, gripping Elektra by the upper arm as he walked into the street and up his front path. Lights on in the neighboring townhouses told him that everyone had at least made it home, and the large vampire wondered if the others were fairing any easier.

Once inside, Zach released Elektra’s arm and took a few steps into the front room. Usually he found peace being in his home, but the presence of another made the atmosphere tense and unwelcoming. The vampire didn’t trust the huntress in the slightest, and had his doubts that she could be respectful of his home, but he didn’t want to babysit her constantly either. Running a hand through his dark hair until it rested languidly on the back of his neck, Zach turned back to his guest. “It is very evident that neither of us want to be in this situation…” He began, trying to come to an understanding with Elektra. “And once again, we can do this the easy way or the hard way until a solution is found...” He held up the rope with his other hand, shaking it a little as a reminder of her last decision. “Do you think you can be mature enough for me to untie you? Or would you prefer to remain tied up in a locked room?” He studied her intently, warning her not to test his patience. It wouldn’t take too much work for him to shove her into the closet and nail a few boards across the door to ensure she stayed put. Fuck being a gentleman.
