the survivor.

the personality.

Born inside the walls of the city, Sammy didn't spend long inside the walls, stuck to the confines of strict walls and cruel leaders. Her parents were only in her life for seven years before they were killed. Quiet, stoic, and a solitary creature, Sammy has been without companionship for the majority of her life. It's a wonder she's kept sane all these years. Guided only by her mother's book, teachings of basic medicine, Sammy's only interaction with other people were strictly professional. Attentive and a woman of very few words, Sammy guards herself closely. Tough and resilient, the woman's been through years of the harshest environment in the world. She's most certainly not the chatty type, but should she ever get close to someone, she'll guard it with her life. Deeply loyal to a fault, her combat skills and survival ability is unmatched.

the virtues.

Attentive

Detailed oriented, Sammy pays close attention to everything and anything. She can describe details about strangers that walk through her forest, or what wounds from years ago that she patched up looks like.

Loyal

Though Sammy doesn't have any friends, the stray cat that lives in her house gets the majority of her loyalty. Once, Sammy even killed a bear that attempted to much the kitty up.

Tough

Hardened by years alone, fighting to survive, Sammy's developed a particular strength to most things. Scratches don't hurt, bruises seem less tender, and overall, Sammy's got a hardened exterior built for living in this new world.

the vices

Quiet

A woman of many words, after growing up alone for so many years, solitude and silence became her closest friend. And old habits die hard. Sammy's not one for idle chatter, even in her adulthood.

Cold

Her blunt and matter-of-fact nature often comes off as a sort of callous coldness that wards off others. But it is this cold nature that protects her from others, mostly, and keeps her afloat when performing certain medical procedures.

Untrusting

After many years of betrayal, hurt, and scorn by others, Sammy believes it's better not to trust at all than to get hurt trusting a stranger. Her closed off heart makes her very wary of others and unwilling to allow her guard to lower regardless of anything.

inside the city.

Sameera Astor was born into the grit and grim of the New World. Born to the illness, disease, corruption, and inequity of the city. And born one cold December day in the mucked up hospital inside in Mid-City heights to Julie and Amir Aster. Her mother was a nurse, working as one of the rare few that didn't have to take jobs burning bodies, sweeping streets, or hauling trash. Julie served the upper-class of Mid-City heights, those who could pay for medicine, drugs, and stitches. Thankfully, the military regime which ruled over all the neighborhoods of Los Angles, kept most people in check. By killing them. If you were injured inside the city, most likely you'd end up in the burn pit with tens of others that looked the wrong way, flinched at an officer, or even breathed a thought of insurrection inside the city.

Of course, as a child, Sameera was none the wiser. Her days consisted of staying home with her father, reading books on medicine and tending to the garden they'd been afforded to plant, picking strawberries off in the warm months, and running around their small home without a worry in the world. As Sameera matured, her interest in her mother's profession became to blossom. Old enough to stay home alone, when Julie and Amir went to work, so did Sammy, studying the long texts from nursing books, biology textbooks, and many other texts from the before times when doctors were more common place. Her mother took notice of this fascination, and began helping her cultivating these skills. After all, if Sameera had a useful talent such as being a medic, her life quality would improve much more. More rations, better living accommodations, and the hint of freedom inside the walls, unfamiliar to most.

Like most children born in the After, Sameera was not afforded a formal education. Taught to read and write from her parents, and later taught the intricacies of medicine, her education came straight from the mouths of others, unlike those put through the Military Academy. Still, she had a sharp mind. Perhaps mathematics wasn't something she studied, but who used maths when all you needed to count was how many bodies were burned in a day, how many ration cards one had, and how many hours till sundown there was.

Not all was well in her childhood, however. A sickness, not related to the Infected, began to take the citizens. Suspected to have been brought in from the hospitals, Sameera fell ill with a fever and nearly debilitating exhaustion. If word was to get out that a child was ill, her life wouldn't have been spared. Julie began to take fewer and fewer shifts in the hospital and before long, ration cards were growing scarce. With Sameera's illness, providing sustenance and water was crucial to keeping her alive. Between a rock and a hard place, Julie stole ration cards from an officer to provide for the family.

Eventually, Sameera's condition began to improve. The Aster's thought they were on the up and up until Officers arrived at their home and detained Julie, Amir, and even Sameera. For the crime of stealing from an Officer, and therefore stealing from the community, Julie Aster and Amir Aster were sentenced to death. Hung in Mid-City Circle, Sameera watched as her parents were taken from her. Not long after the execution, Sameera was exiled from the City, forced to survive on her own, only a mere seven years old.

venturing out.

The world outside the walls of the city was a desolate one. While inside the City lived a cold, run down environment, the thriving community, and the semblance of humanity kept hope alive in most people. Conditions were rough, yes, but experiencing the outside world, where there wasn't anything human out there... There was a certain kind of isolation Sameera had never experienced in her life. She tried not to be scared. Puffing her chest out, clutching to the sharp branch she'd found stumbling away from the City. But as night fell upon her the first night, the cold environment pressed her fear tenfold. Sameera was truly alone.

As she ventured further and further from the city, she found food was increasingly hard to come by. Foraging for berries, eating whatever she could, she could only sustain herself for a while longer. On her fourth day, while in the midst of a field, it was then she had her first encounter with an infected. A blacken, walking corpse running her way with only one though-- Keep the virus moving. Sameera ran for life, barreling through the fields like her life depended on it; because it did. One slip up and she was tumbling down a sharp cliff, tumbling on rocks, a debris, and successfully snapping her radius bone in two. Despite the excruciating pain she was in, she'd escaped the Infected.

It took a week and five days to find shelter. Stumbling upon a home in the countryside, the solar panels, and clear rainwater collection system drew Sameera in. Inside the home, she found the skeletons of a family. Two adult, two children. Part of Sammy wished to run from the home, find another place where the house was clean of any sort of remains, but the logical part of Sammy, the part that wanted to survive... It urged her to stay. On the first day, she spent hours digging four graves. Shallow, yes, but a place where the homes previous owners could lay at rest, undisturbed. Moving the skeletons from the interior of the home to outside took a while and by the time she'd replaced the dirt, gathered an armful of flowers, and made makeshift tombstones, it was nightfall. In the city, most people didn't get graves. They were burnt with the others. Only officers and council members or their family got burials. Still, Sameera thought it was only right to honor the dead.

If it was possible after all her grief, she'd struck the gold in finding the home. Equipped with fresh water and a flourishing garden, there wasn't much she needed to leave for. Staying in the home, Sameera explored the belongs of the former family. A mother and father with two sisters used to live their, and it seemed that the parents were from the before times. There were hundreds of photos, scrap books, family nicknacks, a video machine, and an old radio she found.
For years Sammy survived in this house, tending to the garden, planting and harvesting year after year, and studying the books she'd nabbed from her house. She consumed herself with old music from the Before times and studying medicine. When she wasn't doing one of those things, she tinkered with the old radio she'd found, trying to figure out how to fix it.

Eight year later, when Sammy was 15, she finally got it to turn out. And it turned out, there were plenty of people that used the radio waves to communicate with each other. A few weeks after she fixed the radio, she began communicating with a young man miles away from her. He was charming, and Sameera didn't have any friends. She told him of her life, how she dreamed of Before, what happened to her parents. He told her of his home and his family. How the community he grew up in was safe and had plenty of food. Eventually, truly trusting the boy, she began to give information about her home. The solar panels. The rainwater collection. Everything. And it wasn't but three days later that a rude awakening was presented to her. They didn't knock, but rather, kicked the door of the house in, armed with bats, chair legs, anything they could find for weapons. And Sameera, who had never fought a day in her life, was left to fight for her life.

She doesn't remember much about what happened next. Only... There were three graves dug the next morning, with fresh dirt piled on top.
Trust had gotten her nowhere. Scorned from her encounter, she refused to go out again. Refused to communicate with anyone on the radio. Until a message began coming through one summer day. Sameera was 17 and a damn near expert at medicine. When a woman began to call out in distress that they needed a doctor, Sameera knew she had to do something. She ventured out for the first time in a long time, through towns and eventually to the home of a family. A baby was delivered. And the rest of Sameera's life was paved in front of her.

Now 25, Sameera operates as an on call doctor, traveling long distances to provide aid to communities without access to medicine. On the trips she often gathered medicine and medical equipment. Still, she is wary of others. Her home is equipped with a few many security measures to prevent unwanted visitors, though she doesn't get much company that far from the city.

the princess.

the personality.

Raised away from the brutality and cruelness of the world, Sophia had the luxury of growing up behind the walls of the safest place in the world. Miles away from The City, surrounded by lush garden, high security, and a health team, Sophia's optimistic and cheery persona is unlike those inside the city. Her positive outlook on life was cultivated from a false sense of the world, born from lies and illusions perpetuated by her parents, teachers, and those around her. Sophia believes in the goodness of people and even despite her disillusioned take on the world, she wants to do her best to help people. She has a strong heart and an even stronger head.

As an only child, her stubbornness often shines. Bullheaded at times, once Sophia puts her head to something, she is unwilling to let up. She is persistent and determined in all things she does and believes if she tries hard enough, she will eventually succeed. In her life, she's been greatly successful. Academically intelligent, she was considered one of the smartest out of her class and prides herself in her ability. Still, when it comes to practical things like survival... She's pretty dependent on those around her.

the virtues.

Kind

Her mother instilled the belief that kindness was to come first and foremost when interacting with others. She is willing to go out on a limb for a stranger and offer assistance to those that need it.

Selfless

Another trait her mother encouraged, Sophia was taught that while important to care for herself, her treatment of other people was crucial to their perception of her. Willing to help others without any qualms, if put in a life or death situation, Sophia would likely give herself up to save another.

Optimistic

With a skewed view on how the world is, looking for the positive in any situation is Sophia's superpower. When the going gets tough, Sophia's sunny disposition often keeps her going.

Intelligent

Taught by the best teacher in the world and learning amongst the elite of society, Sophia's ability to solve complex problems and her understanding of difficult topics like biology, chemistry, mathematics and other school subjects is unlike many others.

the vices

Stubborn

Often getting whatever she wanted whenever she's wanted, in her adulthood, Sophia's development of being rather stubborn has often been the cause for her trouble. If she wants something, she gets something. It's very hard to convince her otherwise.

Unrelenting

Sophia will not give up. She'll come to the edge of death before she stops trying. She doesn't know when to stop and as a result, it often costs her.

Naive

Her sheltered life afforded her many benefits in her life, but her limited view on the world and the events of the past years causes her not to know much about how the world actually is.

the man who listens to his heart.

the personality.

Diego never really fit in with most of his so-called friends and coworkers. Even as a child, he was deemed too weak to pursue a military career. Too kind-hearted, too trusting, too soft. And this was true. Diego was all of these things. Some saw this as a weakness, but he always thought they were some of his best qualities. He is a person who still believes that there can be good in this world. He isn't harsh to judge, and even less likely to actually punish. He finds beauty in many things, and adores sharing his passion for nature with other people. Usually the ones that do wish to listen, are the ones he is supposed to take care of. Not that Diego ever really does. Deep down in his heart, he knows that none of these people deserve to be killed over stealing food. They are just trying to survive, after all. It's his softness, his kindness, that makes him stand out. Inside the city walls; however, not in the good way. He doesn't go unnoticed, and isn't a stranger to comments, insults, and even threats as a result of this. Loud, and a firm believer in his own opinions, Diego; however, also doesn't shy away from trying to do the right thing. Albeit a little cowardice from time to time, there is a lot of bravery inside of him when it comes down to protecting the innocent.

the virtues.

Helpful

Diego is very helpful. He is unable to ignore anyone in need of help, and will always jump to the aid of those who are in need of it - even if it might put him into harm's way.

Perseverance

Diego is not someone who gives up easily. He will always continue to achieve the goal he has set for himself, despite the difficulties, failure, or opposition he might face.

Friendly

Diego is friendly. He has a large, kind heart, and will never be unkind to anyone who did not truly deserve it. This also makes him a little too trustful sometimes, as he hardly ever second-guesses people's intentions.

the vices

Opinionated

Diego has strong opinions on many different subjects, and doesn't shy away from voicing these loudly. He is also not quickly persuaded to accept a different opinion, and is a rigid black-and-white-thinker.

Impulsive

Oftentimes, Diego doesn't think before he speaks or acts. If he has a stupid idea, he won't sit back and plan it out - no, he will just do it. This often leads to him getting into trouble, or getting hurt as a consequence.

Naive

Raised inside LA's protected city, Diego was fed many lies about the origins of the virus, and much more. Although he knows that many of the government's decisions are wrong, he doesn't question much else. He is quick to believe things that people tell him, still needing to learn to start thinking for himself.

the tracker.

the bounty hunter.

Connor Reed

I wouldn't mess with me.

the basics.

name
Connor Reed
nickname
Ghost
date of birth
April 19th
age
Thirty-Four
gender
Male
role
The Tracker

the visage.

height
186 cm (6'1'')
weight
79 kg / 176 lbs
hair
Black hair. Sides and back kept relatively short, smooth transition into longer, slicked back hair.
eyes
Extremely dark brown, almost black.
features
Very expressive eyes. Exhaustion written all over his face. Nicely trimmed beard.
modifications
has the number '302' tattooed on his ankle.
scars
Multiple all over his body, some more visible than others. There's a few thicker ones, especially on his back, which appear to never have gotten much medical attention when they occurred.
face claim
Ben Barnes

the fighter.

the personality.

Connor is, and always has been, a loner. He has never cared much for other people, and is reluctant to do so still. He knows that life is a game, one in which he needs to survive at all costs. It makes him loyal to no one but himself. A brash outer layer, Connor comes off as someone confident, arrogant, and selfish. He knows what he wants, and he knows what to do to attain his goals. He's not very emotional, nor does he show any signs of vulnerability or sensitivity. Anything that could make him seem weak, is immediately out of the question. And so, he uses sarcasm and humor as a coping mechanism, often making crude and inappropriate jokes. On the inside; however, if one is lucky enough to discover this, Connor is a gentle soul. He is lonely, and yearns for a connection with other human beings. He is caring, and can be incredibly soft and kind. Immensely protective of those very few he does care about, Connor would selflessly rather lay down his own life than allow anything to happen to them.

the virtues.

Brave

Connor is a very brave man. There's not really anything he'll shy away from, more than often staring death right in the eye without flinching. Some may also call it stupidity, but he himself prefers to refer to it as the latter.

Intelligent

Connor is very smart. He manages to notice minor details in his environment, which then enables him to connect the dots in whatever quest he is pursuing.

Adaptability

Connor is extremely adaptable. Like a virus himself, it seems practically impossible to get rid of the man. Sickness, injuries, extreme weather conditions - somehow, he manages to thrive and adapt to new situations perfectly.

the vices

Stubborn

Connor is extremely stubborn. He won't easily listen to what anyone else tells him, and prefers to do things his own way - even if it's a doctor telling him to rest after he's been hurt.

Apathetic

Connor struggles with showing empathy, which often makes him come across as apathetic. Used to struggling much in his life, he can't imagine someone getting upset over small things, which means he often doesn't feel bad for people whatsoever.

Anger

Connor struggles to control most of his emotions, especially his anger. He is short-tempered, which makes him prone to lashing out at anyone nearby. If he has to, he'll get physical to get his point across, as well.

likes.

Music. Animals (especially horses). Mountains. Snow. Lakes. Thunderstorms.

dislikes.

Crowds. Bears. Hot weather. Milk. Swimming. Scorpions.
