No one is ever going to want me
Little girl came down from the 13th floor
Just 14 years old, gone faster than that
Her limbs in all the wrong directions
Her school uniform once white, now red
A lady came down from the 3rd floor
Face like hers before it mixed with concrete
"Oh dear, what happened?" she asked with a curious smile
Knew it before she did, that was the last time she'd make that face
"Ma'am, did your daughter go to school today?"
"Why, yes she did. She hasn't come home yet though, she's a bit late... Why do you..."

My partner found some ID on the body
The picture blotted-out by blood, but the name still legible
Her face went pale
She shoved past me to see the body
And there it was
Unrecognizable to all but a mother

She fell to her knees and took those broken fingers in her hands
Crying out her child's name over and over
Shouting and pleading for God's grace
Praying and begging for an answer why

God didn't answer that day
