One Thousand Club

In this world, high school is everything. Whoever you were in Middle School doesn’t matter. As a Freshman, you’re a nobody, and your life starts anew. You may have come to this school with your friends, as a loner, or a transfer. Whatever your reasons are, they’re the same as everyone else’s. You must survive.

In High School Showdown, this doesn’t take place in a normal world with normal people. No; everything revolves around high school and this insane desire to be the best in whatever club or sport you’re involved in. If you’re not the best, then you are a loser—even lower than a loser, you could fail out and become a jobless bum on the streets. Life isn’t fair and your parents know this. That is why they were the best and they’re trying to make you into the best so that you can succeed in this dog-eat-dog world.

It you versus the world, but you don’t have to fight alone. There are some who may have similar goals to your own. You all want to succeed, so why not succeed together?

Somerset High School

Somerset High School, home of the Sentinels. Somerset High School is one of five other high school rivals in the district. Those high schools are: 1) Oak Grove, 2) Woodside, 3) Springfield, and 4) Granite Bay. All students at Somerset wear a uniform. The boys were a black jacket with yellow trim and black trousers, and the girls wear a black jacket with yellow trim, with a black skirt, and black shin-high stockings. Both boys and girls have a tie that is yellow against their olive-gold dress shirts. Against their right breast pocket is the school coat of arms: a knights helm over a kite shield with crossing swords before it.

Students

The students in the High School Showdown world are supernatural. While they appear to look like average boys and girls, each student possesses a unique martial art that makes their prowess inhuman. Students only use these powers in sports and other competitions, or when fighting against each other. These powers have led the students to form gangs. Each gang has a different motivation for its existence. Some gangs aren’t so easy to join. They have some ridiculous or dangerous rite of passage that only those really desperate and lonely would go through.

Our story centers around a gang that unlike the other high school gangs formed in Middle School—Edgewood Middle School to be exact. The leader of the gang is Oyama Shuji (LN, FN). Back in middle school when hormones were raging at the onset of puberty, Shuji dominated Edgewood. He was a ruthless gang leader who destroyed any gangs that attempted to overtake his own, and he and his gang defeated the gangs of rivaling middle schools. Upon graduating the eighth grade, Shuji disappeared over the summer. As soon as high school started, Shuji reemerged at Somerset High School and is no longer the kid his old group remembers. No longer violent. He has been pacified. If asked what happened, Shuji simply says he “grew out of it.” With the upperclassmen and school bullies praying on the fresh meat in school, is now really the time for Shuji to mature? Regardless, Shuji’s old gang keeps him as the leader even when he doesn’t involve himself in the fights.

Your character is part of Shuji’s gang, and if they don’t start off as part of his gang, then they will join eventually. It looks like a gang that may dominate the others and ensure your character’s success in life, so your character shouldn’t have any reason to avoid joining. There isn’t a rite of passage, but that depends on the other players. They could create one. There are many ways you can approach this game: 1) you are a transfer student from another country (assume this world takes place in a Japanese-U.S. hybrid of a high school); 2) you are a freshman in H.S. who didn’t go to the same school as the gang; or 3) you are one of the original members of Shuji’s gang in Middle School and have come to Somerset to keep the gang alive and to dominate the school. Players can expect elements of PvE and PvP.

PvE: Players vs the rival NPC gangs, bullies, and gangs of other schools.

PvP: Players who initiate a friendly, planned spar with other players.

Requirements
  • Enjoy fighter Rps
  • Enjoy over-the-top near god-like battles that shouldn’t be logically possible but they are because this game is a spoof of those type of animes
  • Enjoy anime
  • Willing to write, plot, and grow with others
  • Drama queens will be denied
  • This game isn’t for everyone. You either get it or you don’t. If you don’t, move along.

This game is as mentioned in the title, high school themed and so there may be some slice of life moments such as dating, triangle relationships, homo/bi-sexuality, bad parents, friends dealing with stress/drama, bullying, emo, goth, etc. Expect these themes along with the BADAZZ-inspired combat and shenanigans. If you are still interested in this game, then see the below Character Sheet. Fill out the character sheet and drop your character sheet here in the recruitment thread so that the GM can review it. The Character thread will only be for completed and GM-approved CSes not drafts or un-approved CSes.

This is just recruitment. More details about the school will follow in the IC such as a list of clubs and the student council. If you have any ideas for clubs that you would like to see in the RP, then please voice them. I also want to know who all would like a discord server or just a PM group.

Character Sheet

The below CS is just what is basically required to get approved. Feel free to design this CS, however you like.

Code:
[b]Character Name:[/b] What is your character's name? You can add a nickname here too.
[b]Alias:[/b] Do they have an alias? This is not a nickname. This is something they were known as in the past. Almost like a legendary name.
[b]Age:[/b] Freshmen are mainly 14-15. If your character is older, then they probably failed a grade at some point.
[b]Gender:[/b] Self-explanatory.
[b]Height:
Weight:
Hair Color:[/b] This is an anime story so whatever color.
[b]Eye Color:[/b] This is an anime story so whatever color.
[b]Complexion:[/b] Skin color.
[b]Build:[/b] Fat, lanky, athletic, solid, etc.
[b]Grade:[/b] Everyone who joins this RP is a "Freshman"

[b]Visual Appearance:[/b] Anime pics only please. Keep your pics scaled down. Try to avoid using anime pics of popular anime. Nobody wants to stare at Naruto or Ichigo all day.
[b]Written Appearance:[/b] In this you describe your character's overall appearance to include extra details not seen in the picture you are using. Scars, tattoos, piercings, headbands and other accessories, etc.

[b]Personality:[/b] Summarize how they are like.

[b]Current Story:[/b] What has happened so far in their life and what are they doing now? If you are going with the foreign transfer student, where did they come from? They would be coming to the United States. If you are going with the student who went to the same middle school as Shuji, then feel free to plot with the GM or approach me with a believable story. If you are 100% fresh with no back story with the other gangs, then explain that. Describe their gang life in middle school.

[b]Weapon(s):[/b] (Optional) Do they normally use a weapon in their martial arts? Warning: If your character is walking around with an assault rifle or bazooka as a weapon, this may not go well with the police so please be smart. Weapons I am expecting to see are: yo-yos, baseball bats, bamboo swords or bokken, whatever crazy weapon that isn't a weapon but is. No weapon is fine too if you're a hand-to-hand fighter.

[b]Aura:[/b] What color is your character's Fighting Spirit? The energy they radiate that isn't seen by the average human (non-martial artist).

[b]Power:[/b] You only get one power. Not multiple powers in one. Just one power.

[b]Fighting Style:[/b] Summarize how your character fights. Your character's fighting style should go along the lines of their power's theme.

[b]Techniques[/b]

You are allowed up to five techniques. These are fighting sequences of movement, energy attacks, whatever "bad azz" move you want to give your fighter. Try not to go too out of your character's theme, otherwise, it may look weird and I'll ask you to change it.

Character Name: Shuji Oyama
Alias: Former leader of the Edgewood Middle School, Young Punk Chainsaw gang. The name was absolutely ridiculous, but they were young and dumb, and the gang was highly feared any way, so...success! His alias as leader was "Cowboy."
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 153 lbs
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Complexion: Cream
Build: Lean and cut
Grade: Freshman

26460f309e7d1b4f76571a7a70c73e66.jpg

Written Appearance: Shuji used to be an aggressive young man who always had a fierce look on his face and didn’t smile about many things except when he was beating up another student. His hair was longer back then, and he went through a punk phase where he wore skater shorts, chains, and finger-less gloves. After one summer in the transition from Middle School to High School, Shuji returned and appeared to be someone nobody recognized. His hair was shorter, he smiled more, and he…he just appeared as a ray of sunshine!

Shuji has a boyish appearance. He dresses very comfortably in hoodies, loose T-shirts, and sneakers, but he also wears the uniform expected of him to wear. You won’t see him having altered it in any rebellious way. Outside of class, he will wear black cuff-link earrings on the shells of his ears, a few leather necklaces, and a wristband on his right wrist that says “Chill.”

Personality: Shuji is the type of young man to follow the rules. He is never late to class (tries to be at least), and he seems to care about assignments more than he did in middle school. He no longer is the angry and violent punk from Edgewood and has greatly matured into an upstanding young man. There is a warm and friendly aura that radiates from him that makes others feel comfortable to approach him, which is contrary to how he used to be. His nice guy personality has attracted the attention of admirers, and while he isn’t looking for a girlfriend at the moment, he continues to be polite, accepting cookies and other gifts they want to give him.

There are a few gangs that remember him from Edgewood, and are angry to see that he is no longer the rival they had hoped to face. Shuji has become passive and doesn’t really like fighting anymore. He tells everyone, including his own gang, that he has matured and is no longer interested in it. Unfortunately, Shuji resides in a universe and at a school where that is what the world is all about. He may just be trying to defy his fate.

Shuji finds it amusing that his old gang buddies still insist on making him the leader of their new gang. They have all agreed to change the name because Young Punk Chainsaw was terrible, and Shuji wonders what it will be this time.

Current Story:

Shuji was born to Fumi and Jessica Oyama. When he was younger, he was a delinquent who never listened to his parents and acted out at school. Around elementary school, Mrs. Oyama gave birth to Shuji’s baby sister, Emiko. The Oyama’s often left Emiko under Shuji’s care around middle school, which they believed would mature him and grant him more responsibilities as the older brother. If he wasn’t beating someone’s ass in middle school, he was babysitting Emiko so the Oyamas could have some adult time.

Edgewood Middle School was where Shuji earned the name of “Cowboy.” He had a fake black star tattoo that he would wear on his right deltoid, and he was known for rounding up several gang members before he kicked their asses. Shuji rarely fought one person for he rarely attracted the hatred of one. Shuji’s power attracted other students to him who wanted to advance in school. The Young Punk Chainsaw group was created, and they dominated their way through middle school until they graduated. It was over the summer when most teenagers were going on vacation or acquiring their first job that Shuji disappeared. Nobody knows where he ventured off to and his parents don’t even remember seeing him gone. While others thought Shuji had left, apparently, he was still going home.

Shuji reappeared for Freshman year at Somerset High School and nobody recognized him. He was smiling; he was calm; and he looked…mature. He had also grown a few inches. His old gang became afraid that they may not make it through high school with Shuji suddenly being a pacifist. They continue to make him the leader due to his past and lingering reputation, but the fate of the old group is uncertain.

Weapon(s): None

Aura: None; past stories mention how his aura used to be insanely big like a storm.

Power: None; no one can really remember what his power was. He was just a really good fighter.

Fighting Style: Past stories describe how Shuji used to gather his enemies into a group before he beat them down, thus gave him the name "Cowboy." He was never satisfied with just beating one. He wanted to be them all.

I'm thinking of doing this RP in seasons. The first season is them in Freshman and all the shenanigans and gang wars that happen there. This way, we see the characters grow and develop, and their history grows and follows them into senior year where the RP will conclude (if they graduate, dun dun dun!). So in this world where this game takes place, students have to fight their way through school. Those who make it to the top are allowed to graduate. Those who don't wind up being losers and failures for the rest of their life. Thus, the dog-eat-dog world. It is a dark world if you think about it, and it is unfair. Only those strong enough to survive will make it to the top and go onto live a better life in society. So there can be a lot of story development and things we can play with here.

Shuji's old reputation can be embellished by other players who have characters who were in his old gang. Those who are in the new gang will need to decide on a new name for it. We'll make it a vote.

Kameron Esters- Kameron Esters- I am not allowing players to main antagonists. Maybe later in the game I will allow them to NPC, but I am not wanting people avoiding joining the main story gang or avoiding setting themselves up for the possibility.

Antagonists are a GM-level plot twister, and I am not dropping that into the hands of brand new players I don't know, and am uncertain will stick around for the duration of Season One.

Ah i see. That makes sense

Not 100% certain if I'll be joining or not but I'll definitely keep this one on watch, sounds interesting!

Is it ok if I make an oc from their middle school? My plan’s for her to have been an unofficial muscle to the group. She would fight people who aren’t worth Shuji’s time, and be the one who resembles a generic school bully in the group. She’s also a bit of a spoof on a tiny anime girl having unnatural strength so she’d be insanely small.

Character Name: Sora Takahasi.
Alias: She was known as Muscles. She earned that nickname by threatening to beat up anyone who didn’t call her that. So whether it was actually earned or not is up in the air.
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Height: 5’4
Weight: 140 lbs
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Blue
Complexion: Pale.
Build: Skinny
Grade: Freshman

Visual Appearance:

734145C4-6B38-4448-BE17-8D8B08062B01.jpeg
Written Appearance:
Unlike Shuji she never really changed her appearance from middle school. She’s still the same bruiser then she was now. She has multiple scars across her stomach, her arms, and her face. When fighting she normally dresses in more masculine clothing such as wifebeaters, and slacks much to the dismay of her family.

She’s also one of the worst offenders of modifying her uniform. Taking the jacket off. Removing a tie. Wearing pants in place of a skirt. If she’s attempting to look casual then she normally wears ill fitting clothing such as hoodies or oversized t-shirts. She tries to make herself be seen as threatening rather than feminine.

Personality:
She was always the underachiever of the Young Punk Chainsaw gang when it came to academics. To this day she doesn’t remember anything from her middle school textbooks. Fortunately for her she’s good at cramming, and fighting. In eighth grade she came ridiculously close to repeating the school year. Seeing the error of her ways she bullied a student into tutoring her, and passed the school year. She has still learned nothing, and will most likely continue to slack off, and use brute force to get decent grades.

Due to her brashness, rudeness, and complete lack of care for people outside of her gang she hasn’t gotten many admirer. She’s gotten some chocolates from weaker students to get her to protect them, but the practice died out when they realized she didn’t care enough to protect anybody.

She’s utterly pissed at Shuji for refusing to fight. He was clearly more powerful than her, and without him the group had a pretty good shot at falling apart. If that happened she’d need to find another gang each with people who she no doubt beaten up, and still resent her for it.

She also voted to keep the name the Young Punk Chainsaw gang. She hasn’t matured like the rest, and fails to see why it’s not a cool name.

Current Story:
Sora was born to Samuel, and Izumi Takahashi. When she was younger all she heard were stories about how Samuel lead a gang in highschool, and how he let Izumi in because he had a crush on her. On her own Izumi was weak, but with the help of Samuel, and his gang she graduated. She was the lowest of the graduates, but she graduated nonetheless.

What seemed romantic to her parents infuriated Sora. Her mom didn’t deserve to win. She made a solemn vow never to date in highschool so she could earn her place as a graduate. As she got older more steps were taken to insure that she wouldn’t take the same road to success. This involved getting into fights. Messing up her body with scars. Dressing in unattractive ways. She begged her parents to let her chop her hair off, but for some reason they wouldn’t allow it. So she settled for a messy bob.

When she entered Edgewood Middle School she didn’t have a gang at first. She was something of a drifter sticking with whoever was in charge. Eventually she met Shuji, and joined his gang. She wasn’t anywhere near as powerful as Shuji. She could only fight one on one. However she was an extremely capable fistfighter so she felt earned her spot as the one who would fight stragglers or anyone who wasn’t a rival gang. In gang wars she was somewhat capable being able to handle other members, but never to the extent of Shuji.

During the summer before high school she got a job working at a sports shop. Most of the time she was so preoccupied with her job she’d forget that Shuji was gone for long stretches of time. When it finally sank in that there was a chance he wouldn’t come back she panicked. She was concerned of the group falling apart, and not being able to graduate without him.

When he finally came back she was shocked. He was a pacifist? Since when? Suddenly nothing felt safe. Her visions of graduating with the gang were disappearing. She knew she had to do something. What to do was still up in the air. All that was certain was that she needed to survive, and Shuji was the best guarantee for that.

Weapon(s): She doesn’t normally use weapons, but if she’s feeling lighthearted or just wants someone to shut up she keeps a yo-yo in her bag to bonk someone on the head with.

Aura: Her aura is blood red , and while not as big as Shuji’s is powerful in it’s on right.

Power: Super Strength

Fighting Style: Her motto has always been “Punch Now Think Later” and her fighting style reflects it. While she’s learned not to run fists ready into a group of people, she still is quite reckless when fighting one on one.

Techniques

Most of the time she doesn’t need techniques since her power is literally strength. As she got older she realized there were specific things that she enjoyed doing. Such as what she called the “Merry Go Round” when she breaks a person’s arm and then takes the arm lifts the person, and twirls him around by the broken arm. She’s heard it’s excruciatingly painful.

You also can’t go wrong with a classic headlock where you pick the person up by the neck, and slam them to the ground.

tamarapasek tamarapasek I love the character. BUT! Her Super Strength will need to be anime ridiculous super strength because those are going to be the type of opponents she will be facing. If she gets tired after lifting one person, she wouldn't have stood a chance in Middle School and definitely won't in High School.

Lowkey reminded of God of Highschool by this. 'dis still open, by any chance?

Also, are you allowing fan-made martial arts, or are you expecting more real-life stuff?
