Item #: SCP-████

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Given the size and scope of SCP-████ and its proximity to the mainland United States, public knowledge of its existence cannot be fully hidden. As such, a group of no less than three (3) Foundation vessels under the pretense of small to large civilian research vessels of the front company Sea and Coast Probing must be on station at all times. The front company was established as a means to keep public interest away from SCP-████, and also to provide legal means of studying the anomaly. An exclusion zone of 10 km surrounding the island has been set up in order to ward off any vessels. Should an unauthorised vessel cross this border, it is to be intercepted and its crew detained and treated with Class-A amnestic if need be. Should an unauthorised vessel come within 1 km of the edge of the storm, Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarine SCPS Arrowhead is authorised to open fire and destroy the target.

Description: SCP-████ is an island located ███ off the coast of Maine, United States of America, in the Atlantic ocean. Its coordinates are 41.██████°N, 62.██████°W. Due to the island's perpetual thick cloud cover, the true size and scale of SCP-████ has yet to be revealed. Estimates suggest it to be approximately ██ km in diameter and ██ km in range. Expeditions to the island report that its flora consists of vegetation typical to the region. However, there are also several species of non-native plants, and also several unknown species. Its fauna consists of [REDACTED].

The island is surrounded by a persistent electrical storm that makes travel to and from the island hazardous, while at the same time shrouding its existence from the outside. This storm consists of strong winds, rain, and unusual lightning patterns. Breaching the storm through aircraft equipped with advanced lightning protection has been judged the safest way to travel to and from the island. Furthermore, the island is covered by thick clouds and while at first glance appears to receive very little sunlight, expedition teams report a normal, if somewhat reduced, amount of sunlight akin to a moderately cloudy day.

The earliest known sighting of SCP-████ was in ██/██/18. Ship crews and locals in the area had reported a sudden storm in the distance that had persisted for weeks without any signs of movement. The anomaly was first brought to the Foundation's attention after reports of seaborne vessels and aircraft going missing in the area surrounding began to surface.

What was thought to be anomalous and unusually long-lasting and stationary hurricane was eventually revealed to be an entire island that had appeared via unknown means, theorised to be between the hours of 03:██ and 04:██. Foundation satellites picked up temporal disturbances at 03:██, however, it appeared to be a non-anomalous storm and thus was dismissed. It was not until a review that showed unusual lightning activity, and further inspection showed that the storm had remained in the same location for an extended period of time that marked it as a possible anomaly.

A large number of birds that match no known avian species found on Earth inhabit SCP-████. The instances, designated SCP-████-1, are mostly harmless and display normal, non-anomalous behaviour for the most part. However, on select spots on the island, a large number of SCP-████-1 appear to manifest and will relentlessly attack any living human in the area. Robotic drones are exempt from this, as the instances appear to ignore non-living entities. See Addendum-████-1. These attacks will cease upon the human exiting the area. Notably, these spots are known to have high Hume levels. Reports suggest that located in these spots are [DATA EXPUNGED]. Possible connection to SCP-930 is currently being investigated.

The centre of the island emits a strong electromagnetic pulse every two (2) hours powerful enough to disable most electronics. This effect is strongest the closest to the epicentre, weakening further out. At a distance of 1 km, [DATA EXPUNGED]. At a distance of 5 km (dubbed the 'danger zone'), it is enough to destroy any electronics even with EMP hardening. The effect is diminished at distances further. Evidence suggests that the pulse originates from a large facility built into an inactive volcano located at the direct centre of the island. Furthermore, during the 'charging' period, the emicentre emits a constant, although weaker, electromagnetic signature enough to interfere with electronics and navigation instruments, making air travel within the vicinity of the island non-feasible.

The island appears to have at one point housed a native, sapient population, given by evidence of ruined buildings and settlements scattered throughout it. These buildings for the most part appear man-made and share designs with mostly ██th to 20th century architecture. Writings found in these buildings match no known language.

From observation, it would appear as if the island has been abandoned for years, with much of the structures damaged and crumbling, along with being overgrown with vegetation. However, it should be noted that there still appears to be a functioning power grid on the island, albeit unreliable, as a number of buildings still have working electrical lights and machines. It should be noted that machinery in the island is in poor condition due to lack of maintenance. These machines appear to be unaffected by the aforementioned pulse.

Addendum-████-1: During a reconnaissance flight using a miniature UAV to scout one of the locations with known SCP-████-1 manifestations, the unit was suddenly attacked by a large number of instances and crashed into the ground. Recovery of the unit was deemed too hazardous. Before this incident, SCP-████-1 had never attacked previous flights via unmanned drone, and it is unknown why the instances did so on this occasion. Before it was attacked, the unit's camera appeared to have picked up [DATA EXPUNGED]. SCP-████-1 instances will now attack all non-native entities that intrude into these spots.

Addendum-████-2: On ██/██/19, all contact with the expedition team was suddenly and unexpectedly lost. The team had been sent to investigate and document the origin of the electromagnetic pulse. A unit of Mobile Task Force Epsilon-124 "Uncharters" has been dispatched to investigate the team's disappearance, and complete the team's original objective if necessary. MTF Epsilon-124 is currently made up of [REDACTED] members, including ground and air elements. It specialises in the investigation and exploration of uncharted anomalous landmasses, especially islands. The task force is made up of special forces operatives extremely proficient in navigation and pathfinding, and most are former recon.

Welcome to SCP: Lost Squad! This RP takes place within the universe of the SCP Foundation. In it, players take control of a member of MTF Epsilon-124, dispatched to the island in order to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the research team sent there some time before. There, they will discover the island's many secrets and horrors.

Given how this RP's name is Lost Squad and also the fact that this is the SCP Foundation, most of our characters will probably be either dead or missing by the end of the RP, so it's probably best not to get too attached. This RP will be extremely plot-focused.

I'd be interested in being involved! I'm a fan of SCP and stories where people check out strange islands. :)

Glad to have you all on board. We could still use a few more people, though.

interested!! would be up for playing either a normal squad member or a chaos insurgency spy, if you'll allow that.

Alright, great. We should have enough people. I'll probably get the character thread up tomorrow.

I suppose I could allow an Insurgency spy, although obvious he/she must fit.

It's unfortunate that it's full, I'm interested since I'm a SCPF fan so message me if there is an available spot. Thanks.
