Soviet Panda
Red Panda Commanda.
When Humanity took to the stars, they expected life to be out there somewhere. But they did not expect to find it almost immediately. The research fleet was ambushed by one of far greater size and technological advancements. It was by sheer luck that they were not killed on the spot. And luckier still that this advanced race had been watching them and waiting, to be our parent species and guide as we are ushered into the stars. Of course, we accepted their offer, and our technology advanced through leaps and bounds. We made contact with more and more sentient species, and more and more saw us as allies. But not all.
The Kara'taan, space aged barbarians that think of little more than combat, bloodshed, and looting. Their relentless raiding and lightning attacks forced mankind to use their advanced technology for warfare. Thus was the Phantom Drive created, a device that tapped into the latent, or in some cases active, psychic ability of it's pilot and harness it granting them powers, though some would call this magic.
These Phantom drives have served the Armed Forces of Humanity, evolving and changing with the technology. But the Kara'taan have refused to yield. The signed cease fire does not apply to the raiding parties, that the Kara'taan governing body disavows but does little to nothing to stop. A new generation needs to be trained, to stop these raids, perhaps once and for all.

Phantom Production Companies
The Norwegian based Varyag Manufacturing and U.S.A. based Liberty Arms Inc. have been in a constant competition of one-upmanship for years and have constantly been trading the title of 'Heavy Metal' phantom producers. Where Varyag would produce a phantom that could bounce a 105mm round as if it was a bouncy ball, Liberty Arms would come out a month later with a weapon capable of penetrating, and truth be told completely eviscerating, the armor of the formerly indestructible Phantom. The two current workhorse models that are mass produced and sold. The Varyag Huscarl model, equiped with a Skjald-borg shielding system and heavy autocannon, lumbers into combat and acts as the anchor point of any frontline engagement. Meanwhile, Liberty Arms Bison model, though with armor just as heavy as it's Varyag counterpart, is equipped with the Monolith railcannon, the proverbial bunker buster. Requiring set up just so as not to be knocked over by the recoil alone, the Bison is also hindered by it's poor ranged capabilities needing it to close with it's intended target and future crater location.
Formerly William & Willhelm, the two split after disagreements on design philosophy. Those with original William & Willhelm Phantoms can attest to their reliability and snappy reaction times. However, after the split, the two, Albion Manufacturing and Kolibri Co. respectively, have focused their attention to a certain aspect. Albion has produced the Phantom that set a new land speed record, the Galahad and a replica of which can be seen in their company's HQ, while Kolibri Phantoms can stop on a dime, turn around, and return to full speed in a matter of milliseconds, their crowning jewel bein their namesake, the Kolibri or Hummingbird Phantom. What the two are equipped with is often left up to the customer, though Kolibri models seem to be equipped for cqc combat while Albion models are equipped with long range and/or reconnaissance in mind.
Yoroi has remained fairly generalist. With their Senshi model being a jack of all and master of none, many agree that Yoroi Phantoms perform their task admirably and can be later retrofitted with more specialist equipment, though once again never quite achieving the same level as Phantoms that have been purpose built for the task.
