Activity was in full swing at Arthur Gray's School of Power, for it was none other than orientation day and students were ushered to participate in the various activities set up around the academy. There were trivia games and information boards designed to help students learn about the academy, club stations urging people to join them, probably a few too many carnival games, and food vendors handing out their goods to hungry people. Most of the activities were centered around the school's courtyard, a space enclosed between multiple school buildings and connected to the student garden, where senior students were happily letting others sample some of their produce.

Any student new to the school had already gone through their entrance exam that determined their power grade and where they were at academically. They had been issued ID cards that were designed for a variety of purposes, including dorm keys, money holding, password keepers, and interfacing with the technology around the school. The new students had also been able to move in to their dorms if they were boarding.

A group of fifteen-year-old boys were chatting amidst the bustle, getting pretty animated over the most minute of subjects. Their conversation turned quickly to roughhousing as one pushed another and provoked the other. The pushed teen's hands started to glow a bright red but he found a large hand gripping his shoulder almost immediately. He turned to find one of the school's security guards, Chris Gill, staring down at him with an intimidating glare. Though the man did not possess any powers of his own, his hulking frame and shaved head was enough to make just about anyone freeze.

"No powers," he said gruffly, releasing the kid's shoulder once he seemed suitably spooked. Chris looked down at the kid's hand to find a stamp indicating it was his first day. "You are to only use your powers in controlled environments as directed by the faculty. Got that?"

The teen and his friends nodded dumbly, mostly just wanting this guy to leave them alone. Chris watched them as they walked off. Once they had blended into the crowd of students, Chris made sure to report to his fellow security team to keep an eye on them.

For being a school filled with superpowered kids and young adults, there had to be measures in place to ensure the academy did not melt down on a daily basis. Powers were largely prohibited on special days like today and they were certainly not allowed in any of the academic classrooms on any occasion. As powers varied so much, it was largely difficult and rather unfair to pick and choose who had the privilege of using their abilities. The dorms were more free, though they were heavily monitored. It was really only when the students had class time dedicated to their powers or during exams that they could really let loose. Thankfully, Arthur Gray's had Courser faculty on hand who were trained in pacifying students with various kinds of powers in case anything really went wrong.

The school's head, George Alcast, was a powerful telekinetic in his own right, able to read minds and put others to sleep. As a result, there was very, very little that got past him. Orientation always began to with him addressing the year's new students in the large auditorium, telling them what a privilege it was that they got to attend the academy and how they must work together for a safer, brighter future. He used the opportunity to get a good read on the student body, though few of the students would even realize this was the case.

Tommy King, a new seventeen-year-old student, had found the rousing speech by Mr. Alcast to be... dreadfully dull. All the talk of future greatness, creating safe spaces, and honoring the Coursers who came before them meant very little to a guy who just didn't want to be there. Tommy didn't want to be a Courser, nor did he want to switch to a new school. He wanted to go to a real college and not some weird academy where half the student body were literal children.

The only benefit to attending a new school was that Tommy was still allowed to play lacrosse, though they had made it very clear that powers were not permitted at any point on the field or in training. This was totally fine by Tommy, though he had a sinking feeling that playing for a Courser school would only hurt his chances of going anywhere professionally.

When the orientation speech was over and a bunch of the faculty had introduced themselves, Tommy and the many other new students had been sent off to tour the activities going on. Just about none of it held much interest for Tommy, who mostly stood in the courtyard with his hands in his pockets and looking dully at the other students milling about. He was tall enough that he stood out and it certainly didn't help that his cropped blond hair sort of shone in the August sun. A part of him itched to try the carnival games, as he was on the competitive side and he figured he could meet a few people that way. Tommy had to find some kind of crew eventually.

And hey, he had to give the school one thing; you really couldn't beat free food.

Two students were way ahead of Tommy on the carnival games, however. One of them was having a much better time than the other, though.

Ayako Akiyama, dark haired and blood red eyes, stood flatly at the fishing carnival game. She had some expression on her face that was between blank and irritated, with enough self-awareness to know that she frankly looked a bit ridiculous, just standing there and holding out a fishing pole... trying to fish out plastic fish, and even then, with limited success. She pursed her lips and gave a furrowed brow as she stood by herself, unable to get so much as a nibble. In other words, her otherwise intimidating demeanor was offset by how stupid she felt right now, fishing for fake game.

She just wanted to get settled into her dorm already and call it a day, but it seemed the school board was insistent on making her and all the other students partake in their little orientation festival, so here she was.

Not too far away, another student was getting pretty excited.

"Boom! I'm unstoppable!!" Ren Tsukino, in male form, exclaimed excitedly, essentially hogging the basketball game by themself. They were just having way too much fun with it, scoring almost perfectly in rapid succession each time they threw a ball into the hoop, with only an occasional miss every now and then. They were much more enthused to mingle around among the other fellow students at the academy... even if most of the rest of the student body was much younger than them. Felt weird being one of the few actual adults among teens, even if just by one or two years.

After all, being a would-have-been college student and still hanging out with high-school aged kids wasn't what Ren had in mind after they'd graduated high school, but here they were. May as well make the best of it!

Before long, the timer on the game ran out, prompting a somewhat worn but still active breath from them, wondering to themselves if they do another game, unless someone else wanted in, of course.

For the rest of everyone else here, it truly was the first day of the rest of their lives.

Rashida had listened intently to the principal's speech during assembly and nodded silently to herself. This was a school for opportunity and growth, she had to believe that because that's why she was here. Getting up from her chair and making her way towards the activity center. While not a stranger to 'fun' Rashida wasn't much in the mood to walk among crowds of strangers and having a friendly smile on her face.

If she was going to do something exhausting she'd go for a run. Lost in thought as she tried to process everything that had been said during orientation, she accidentally knocked into Tommy. "Excuse me," She replied abruptly before continuing to walk on.

Meanwhile, as Ren finished their set they'd hear some enthusiastic clapping from the sidelines. "Awesome! You could go pro with skills like that!" If they looked her way they'd find a girl with long black hair, glasses, wearing shorts, and a well worn Misfits tank top cheering them on. This was actually Ann Dolby's second year at Arthur Gray's School of Power, but to say that the first year was a disaster was an understatement. New year, new me, that's how the saying went right? Ann was going to try and live by that this year and not just do the partying and everything else. God...she turned 20 over the summer, in this place that meant she was practically ancient. She did not want to end up as one of those creepy people that hang around highschool parties until they're like 30 something.

On the outside, she was smiling and having a good time. On the inside, she was having her private existential crisis.

Kaden Schmidt
New Best Friend | Interactions: N/A

The day of destiny was finally here. Thoughts of what crazy adventures he would find himself a part of filled the mind of the small freshman, a visible smile plastered on his face as he set out from his newly unpacked dorm room to begin the days events. While school in itself was never something that was particularly exciting to him, the power section of his placement exam had only fanned the flames inside of his heart to work on them even further. This was made doubly more potent by the fact that he was ranked a lowly E, of all things. That in of itself was a bit of a bruise to his ego. In his own world he was a C- on the lower end of his estimations. Rather than begrudge the individuals who came to that decision, all he could do was put on a show and prove them wrong.

Unfortunately high school often had a way of dragging you back to the most bland interpretation of reality regardless of what exactly you qualified as. Kaden had for some reason expected control of their abilities to come from constant and open usage rather than severe restriction and structure. This realization came early in the speech of the school's head, after which he tried rapidly switch between faking an attentive appearance and stealing glances at some of the more aesthetically pleasing members of the collection of students he now found himself surrounded by. As he finished and the group dispersed to take part in the activities the young man idly reached back to scratch the back of his head as he surveyed the area.

'What first?' Kaden pondered, gaze immediately drawn to the basketball game and the boisterous older student engaged in it. He found himself unable to restrain a smirk at this display. Either he was really skilled or really cocky, but either way it was endearing in a strange way. Could he have some sort of personal connection to the sport? Pushing this speculation aside, he noted a long series of tables set directly beside the fishing game where a rather out-of-place individual struggled to find enjoyment in the environment. A collection of darts sat atop the cloth that protected the furniture, with several repurposed post it boards now set up to hold balloons in the academy's colors in place.

Not quite pitching, but precision was still important. Why not?

"Yo, gimme a shot at this," Kaiden said bluntly, approaching one of the volunteers behind the table in charge of coordinating the game. Slightly annoyed at the phrasing of his request, he casually motioned toward the three slim objects in front of him, mentioning a prize for a perfect score. Putting himself into position, he grabbed the first dart and scanned his targets, casually biting his bottom lip as the noise around him seemed to dissipate in his concentration.

Locking onto a balloon, Kaden tossed the small object and struck it with the pointed tip dead center, destroying it with a satisfying pop. Eyes now lit up he grasped onto the second, hastily repeating the action. With a deep breath he then positioned himself for the final throw, two simple words rising to the forefront of his thoughts.

'Don't choke.'

Exhaling as he gently flicked his wrist forward for the final time, he felt a rush as it struck true and he was given the last satisfying pop he was yearning for.

"Hell yeah!" Kaden shouted, cocking his fist back in triumph only to be met by a disapproving nod by the volunteer for his language. Becoming a bit flustered at this realization, he forced a fake cough and attempted to compose himself as they walked behind the post it board to fetch a large plush that had been obscured from his vision.

"Congratulations," he said flatly, forcing a stuffed, cartoonish depiction of Arthur Gray into arms. Roughly half of his size Kaden paused as he examined his prize, curious to just how much input this man must have with how they use his likeness. Focusing on his eyes a few seconds pass in silence before slinging him under an arm to be carried away. A trophy is a trophy.

"Don't go killin' my fun now."

The tall form of Vetr strolls through academy grounds with a bright smile, confidence and bounce to her step as she moves through the school, the steady clicking of her boots trailing behind her as well as a constant turn of heads. Clad within a thick turtleneck vest, overcoat, skirt and leggings she may have been overdressed for the current weather yet the heat did not seem to be showing, the fact she was wearing ear muffs also made it look like she was far more prepared for Winter than others around her. The entrance exam had gone well all things considered though the explanation of her power itself was what took the longest with nature and complexity requiring the focused attention of one of their specialists to fully grasp, given the array of monitoring and observation equipment is difficult to calibrate accurately for temporal and spatial disruptions..the array of anomalies causing them to give up at one point. What was clear however was the nature of her education within such would need to be finely tuned, academically was at least far simpler with her appearance betraying her aptitude on the tested subjects, and here she was thinking they would have something resembling PT to evaluate the physical aspects.

With her belongings stowed comfortably within several military-style trunk lockers resting in the storage area of the dormitories she now had the rest of the day to explore the grounds, perhaps longer if she could charm the assistance of another to do the basics for her, just not her babies resting within the bottom of such. One of the issues she did have when walking around was the specific power rules, within the confines of her homes such was fine being openly used making the outside seeming far more confining than it would seem, then again the food was good and free, thats a squared positive in her books with the rest of the atmosphere putting the constricting feeling to the side. So, for now, she would have her fun the best she could, arms full of festival cuisine while passing glances to the students interacting, many of them would potentially be fellow classmates so it was good to see who she would be with for the next few years, as well as the occasional wink , smile and adjusting of her hair to those attempting to steal glances of there own.

Yes, it was the middle of the day. And yes, Charlotte was drinking thank you very much. Vodka and Gatorade were mixed expertly inside of a sprite can, and she couldn't have been more thankful for her preparation. The day was extremely hot, and the only thing that kept her cool was this drink and her tan sun hat tied neatly with a little rope for some flare. This was about the only time Charlotte was thankful that she was blind, so the sun couldn't do that for her. Sitting on top of a little wooden table, she was near the crowd enough to make it look as if she were participating, but far enough away that she wasn't directly in the middle of it all. Being her first year, she had no friends or even anyone to call an acquaintance, so naturally she sat alone and listened to people's thoughts to keep her occupied. One girl was playing a fishing game and becoming intently aware of how ridiculous the game made her look (Although she couldn't judge that for herself, Charlotte probably would have agreed). Another very boisterous student was playing basketball, very content with the carnival and the social interactions although feeling a bit uncomfortable with the age differences around here.

Charlotte couldn't have agreed more. The first thing that had stuck out to her were the ages of the students. She was 17 herself, but she knew others could be in college if they weren't stuck here. Another girl around the same area as the "basketball player" was thinking the same thing. It wasn't a surprise that many here had noticed this first. Charlotte couldn't really be upset about the situation though. A school full of people with powers was odd enough to the normals, why would they give them different schools for different ages? Taking another sip of her drink, she finally decided to get up and walk around a bit. Although she didn't think she looked very suspicious, she could never be too sure. As she stood she felt herself wobble a bit, realizing the alcohol was already getting to her.

'Shame. I need to stop drinking or I'll get caught...' She thought to herself, pausing to consider throwing it away. Then she took another sip and went on her way, enjoying eavesdropping on her fellow classmates.

Lydia was distracted through most of the principals speech, only hearing things that stood out here and there. Lydia curses under her breath when its over, she gets distracted so easily. She ends up following the stream of people going into the activity centre, not really knowing where or what she's doing. To her left she hears the cheers of another student playing a game, she decides that she wants to get in on that.

She strolls over to where she heard it and a kid with a plushie walks past her, her eyes widen at the plushie underneath his arms. She loves stuffies, she dedicated 3 quarters of a suitcase just for her various animals, and or characters. Her favourite being this weird abominable snowman looking thing. She smiles to herself and goes to the booth.

"Could I try?" She looks at the guy hosting the booth, he nodded and stood out of the way, not wanting to get hit by any of the flying darts. Lydia picks up one of the darts, she breathes in before tossing it at a balloon that looks like an easy target....

It hits! She jumps up in glee, her hair swaying around wildly. She smiles excitedly at the guy and he gives an unenthusiastic thumbs up. Lydia has been, and never will be good at any sport that involves throwing, or catching things. The only sport that she can do moderately well, is track and field. And even then she comes in third at best. So making this shot was a huge accomplishment for her, even if the balloons were 4 feet away.

Lydia lines up another shot, her tongue sticking out of her mouth like a snake. She closes one eye and chucks the dart. It misses and goes in-between two balloons. She curses under her breath before lining up another shot. 'This is so dumb, everyones gonna think I'm a loser if I don't make this. Why did I even try.' She bites the skin on the inside of her cheek before tossing it at another ballon... yet again it misses. Lydia sighs in defeat, The guy hands her a small keychain with the school emblem on it. She rolls her eyes and takes it before waling away. "Stupid game." She mumbles to herself before continuing down the row of games.

Christoph walked through the array of games with dismay, face full of obvious disdain. Maybe he was getting too old for this stuff, looking at his counter-parts, he was definitely one of the older ones. Instinctively, he reached into his pocket and was about to grab his lighter and then it set upon him that this is obviously the place not to do it. His cravings were getting worse so he grabbed a piece of nicotine gum and popped it into his mouth. The flavor wasn't that great but it'll have to do for now. He slightly adjusted his tie to give him some more air, since the weather wasn't exactly favorable for his suit. He looked down at his black shoes and noticed they were quite scuffed, he'd have to polish them later. He walked past a dart stall and took a glance at an individual who was much younger than him but he's seen him from somewhere. He stopped in his tracks to think for a moment. A devilish smile appeared on his face once he realized who it was. It was the kid from the video, he knocked that kid back with a ball, a ball! Let's have some fun.

Christoph approached the stand and asked the volunteer for a few darts to take a chance at the balloons. He threw a dart but it missed its mark by an inch. Another girl approached and took a few throws, she walked away with a key chain. Quite pathetic, might as well not give them anything. After his throws, he himself did not get any prizes but that didn't concern him. He was there to inquire about the kid. He approached him, trying to change his demeanor so he seemed less serious. "So, I heard or actually, I've seen your little incident at the baseball game. I was quite unsure at first but now that I'm standing in front of you, you're definitely the kid. It's takes guts to do something like that. You're not obligated to answer this but why'd you do it?" The kid may not realize that he's toying with him, though a small part of him wants an actual answer.

Kai Skinner
Amoeba|Orientation Event|Interacting: PlusUltra PlusUltra

While most of the students seemed to be enjoying, or at least voluntarily participating, Kai was not. He'd been told to keep his gloves off while at the event so the stamp would be visible, and it took some serious haggling before the lady would agree to not touch him while she pressed the ink into his skin. At least the rest of the process wouldn't take so long.

"Alright, Kai, new place, half a continent away from mom and dad, try to be social, you're not a freak here, you're just a kid with a guitar," Kai muttered to himself as he tried to psych himself up for attempting to be social. Even though the latter half of his self description wasn't accurate at the moment. His guitar was in its case, along with his sketchbook and the rest of his belongings in the storage area.

In fact, he didn't seem to match his self description at all. He looked like he was prepared to wade through an apocalyptic blizzard, with his thick jacket, shirt, hood, and boots. The only other person he saw who was similarly dressed was a girl with purple hair and-

"How the Hell can she even stand up straight?", Kai muttered to himself as Vetr crossed his field of view. He probably looked creepier than he intended, with just his eyes visible since his mask covered the lower part of his face, except for a bit about his mouth Zorro-style as he munched on some habanero jerky he bought from one of the stalls. He didn't know how the students got a smoker or where they grew their peppers, but he'd have to find out.

Seemingly physics-defying body proportions aside, Vetr seemed to be in his age group. Maybe he should talk to her? From what he understood, the dorms were divided by age group and were coed, so it couldn't possibly hurt to find out about who he'd be in the same vicinity as for the next year at least.

'Nothing ventured, nothing gained,' Kai figured, 'Worst case scenario she brushes me off.' Actually, worst case scenario was she slapped or otherwise attacked him and then cried pervert, considering how shady he looked as he shoved his hands in his pockets and started walking.

His first stop was the jerky seller to get some more, fortunately he was smart enough to always keep an extra $40 in cash, because he hated using cards like the ID. 'Okay, how do I approach this without looking creepy?', Kai asked himself as he looked at the girl walking around with an armload of snacks, averting his gaze when she looked briefly in his direction, and winked. 'Why are you over thinking this, Kai? It's not like you can touch her, anyway!' Why was he over thinking this, anyway?

Simple, really. He sucked at interacting with people, especially girls after the bookstore incident. Stuff like that sticks with you. 'This is why I wear gloves. Screw it, not the first awkward conversation I'll have had, definitely won't be the last.' With that, Kai turned on his heels and made towards the girl with purple hair. Better to look a fool than be that weird shady kid.

"You know it's seventy out, right? It's not supposed to snow anytime soon," Kai said, somewhat hypocritically. His clothing was more for other people's protection, though.

As Vetr was enjoying the meals on offer, mostly a variety of spiced meats or confectionary she perks her head to the side as she notices a covered boy in a strange mask approaching, tilting it slightly as she looks him up and doing before he speaks. His first comment though did cause some reaction, raising her hand to her mouth as she lets out a soft giggle.

"Oh yes, The temperature is a little lower than I'm used to so I thought it would be prudent to add in the layers, It would not do well to fall ill before the first class would it not?" crossing an arm across her stomach as she speaks with the other gesturing along to her words before turning it to the boy "I would have thought you had a similar idea no? though snow would be interesting since it's been quite a while since I've seen one". While she is speaking there can be heard the faint tinges of something else, the raising and lowering of certain words betraying her accent as somewhere Scandinavian but the exact location likely harder to pin down.

Placing her food down next to her seat she finally stands up and clasps her hands behind her back, showing herself to be several inches above the boy before she dips forward-looking him over with some curiosity, tilting her body to look either side before standing back upright with a grin "Hmm you do seem quite nervous is anything the matter?, Perhaps this the hero costume you are trying on early?" gesturing across his clothing "If I had known that was a option i would have perhaps seen if such could have been acquired early myself as well, though sadly there was a material shortage for some reason"

When it came to the schools orientation Kovik was half asleep through most of it, it wasn't really entertaining to them and being around a ton of other students wasn't really fun to them either. Though when it was finally over they did stay in a bit longer mostly cause they were comfortable where they were at for the moment and they didn't want to get caught up in the crowd of swarming students. Though for the most part they did figure out that the use of the powers was pretty frowned upon besides a few exceptions which didn't really matter that much since they knew they were gonna use their powers anyways. Though they would have to be more sneaky about it non the less, so using their powers for quick tasks would likely be best course of action. Its not like many people know what their power is and even so it usually takes quite a while for people to figure out their using their powers anyways. After all its not like their powers are that flashy so unless someone knew what their powers were and the signs that they are using their powers then they should be able to get away with it at least most of the time. After the Assembly area cleared out and their was a lot less students in the building they went on to move out their seat and head outside, the outside area seemed pretty fun to say the least with all the games and sports going on. They thought about going over to play some sports but they knew that if they got frustrated they would start using their powers and prolonged physical actives plus them using their powers would increase their chance of getting caught so scrapping that for now. Though their mind also went back towards their entrance exam for a minute they honestly thought they should of scored way higher but they honestly had no idea what they even did since they couldn't remember much of it especially when it came to the power usage part of it. Though they were still surprised that they got E Class which was a shame to be honest though they didn't dwell too much on that they probably just placed every new comer at that class for all they know. They came up with that thought to help maintain their ego from being crushed, though they new environment was also nice and the school seemed pretty big as well so they hoped it would be fun despite the power restrictions rule they were defiantly going to break later on if they could get away with it. They put their hands in their jackets pockets as they walked around the school game area they were a bit cold not really use to the weather here yet since they typically enjoyed the warm weather from their home state over the cold. They did scan the area for any games they found interesting though, being lost in thought as they stood still debating on each game they might of wanted to play.

Tommy - Rashida/ Charles Babel Charles Babel

A buzz was starting to interrupt Tommy's thoughts. It was a husky droning that buried itself deep within his head, putting him ill at ease. This was how his powers manifested at the worst of times. There was just too much going on; too many people packed together with their many personal devices. He grunted, wanting suddenly to get the hell out of here, and found himself running into some girl as he turned. He took a dramatic step away from her, more surprised than anything once he realized he hadn't sensed her at all amidst all the other noise. His stupid Courser powers made him feel like an idiot half the time considering it just made it harder to focus in general.

"Hey, what the fuck?" he blurted out at the girl, even as she politely tried to walk away. He knew it was escalation but he was feeling irritable and a little bit like he didn't give a shit, all things considered. Last thing he needed to do was making a scene, but damn it, that buzzing wasn't going away. "Watch where you're going, maybe?"

He bridged the distance between himself and the girl with a couple quick strides. He didn't really know why, it just seemed like the appropriate action. He looked down at her, trying to be intimidating. Considering his size, most people tended to think of Tommy as intimidating. It was hardly the first time he puffed out his chest and tried to seem like a tough guy for the sake of it, though not often with girls. Tommy tended to avoid girls; they just annoyed him most of the time. Regardless, at this point, Tommy was just trying to make himself feel a little bit better.

"Excuse me, miss?"

A woman was standing behind Charlotte, trying to get her attention. She had a neutral expression that was almost pleasant, with her hands on her hips as she examined Charlotte intently. She looked about ready to go on a run, wearing a grey tank-top and shorts, with her black hair tied back into a ponytail. Nothing about her screamed faculty, though considering she seemed to be in her mid-thirties, she was likely not a student. All it would have taken for Charlotte was a cursory glance of the woman's thoughts to know that was the case.

The woman took a step forward and sniffed the air. It looked odd to anyone watching the scene to say the least, but the woman did not seem to care. Satisfied after a moment, she first examined Charlotte's hand to see if she was new, then focused on the can in her possession. One didn't have to be a mind reader to see that she had figured out what was going on, though to Charlotte, it would be clear the woman was also wondering what Charlotte's powers were. It seemed her sense of smell was not quite normal.

"Hi," she said evenly, not looking angry or upset. Indeed, her thoughts indicated that she was not ready to lay down the law just yet. "I'm sorry, could you tell me what kind of Courser you are?" She then crossed her arms and took another look at the sprite can.

"And could you give me that, please?"

Rashida seemed nonplussed as she turned around to face Tommy. "I apologized, didn't it?" Rashida didn't seem to even blink when Tommy came closer and loomed over her. She looked up into his face. "Did you want something else?" Tommy might not have noticed due to the bulky hoodie she was wearing but up close he saw that her sleeves were empty.

She knew that this conversation wasn't done with, Rashida had seen this so many times before. Entitled white boys who think they own the place. If this was going to become an altercation she wasn't going to be the instigator.

Kaden once again scanned through the area trying to come to a decision of what to do next. While this wasn't an entirely foreign experience to him the novelty of having it on school grounds did give it a sense of novelty that made it refreshing. There was still so much to do and only a limited time to tackle it all, so hitting up the food stands seemed like the most efficient choice. Keeping his energy up was important! As he was about to leave the sight of Lydia dejectedly walking away from the game caught his eye an idea struck.

'Sorry Arthur Jr., but you're gonna have to take one for the team,' he thought, scheming out his approach to the blonde courser. If all went well he wouldn't have to eat alone. Unfortunately before put his plan could be put into action he now found himself blocked by the tall figure of an upperclassman in a suit.

"A-ah, so you heard about that," Kaden managed to blurt out in response to Christoph's comment, notably thrown off balance by his approach. His manner of dress just screamed of upper class to him, a group of which he's had no prior experience with. Still he seemed friendly enough. Criticizing himself for allowing such a trivial thing to get under his skin, he adjusted the large plush under his arm once more as he gathered his thoughts. "It just kinda happened. When you're into something like that you want to throw everything you have at it, y'know? Holding back just felt wrong." Settling on this lie, Kaden felt a smile form on his lips at the as the event replayed in his head. Better to lean in on the love of the sport rather than the fact that the catcher thought it was a good idea to trash talk him for months on end. "Now everyone here is doing that regardless. I guess it's good everything isn't on fire or exploding. I get it and all, but..."

Shrugging in response to his own thoughts Kaden extended an open hand toward Christoph, the actual intent behind this conversation still unbeknownst to him. "'Kid' works I guess, but the name is Kaden. Nice to meet ya."

What was so funny? Was that just a girl thing? Well, whatever, moving on, she'd asked a question. "I'm not here to be a hero, I just hurt people when I touch them." 'Of course there would be a material shortage for you, you probably keep every tailor within a hundred miles in business,' he thought.

He kept that bit to himself, though.
"So, what do you do, to get in here?" The conversation had to go somewhere, Kai really hadn't thought this through and didn't have much prepared.

Christoph looked at the hand extended to him for a moment before extending his own and firmly shaking his hand, you could tell a lot about a person based on their handshake or at least that's what his father said. "Name is Christoph but you can just call me Chris." After further examination of the kid, he seemed to lack any ill-will or on the surface at least. Christoph's ill-intent quickly changed to that of genuine curiosity, the scientific side of Chris starting to come out, "Your power? How does it work exactly? The amount of kinetic energy you put into that ball must be somethin." Christoph asked, spitting his nicotine gum into the ground since it lost flavor. He wasn't exactly one to care about the environment or others potentially stepping on it. He started adjusting his tie once more, dissatisfied by the length and the tightness around his neck. He was very particular about how he wanted his looks and he spends just about the same amount of time in front of the mirror as women doing makeup.

Ren Tsukino - Basketball Carnival Game
Interactions: Charles Babel Charles Babel -- Open

Ren's eyes widened slightly as an unfamiliar voice came cheering from the side. They had gotten so wrapped up in their own little world, they admittedly felt a bit self-conscious upon being snapped back to the real world; it almost would have been better if someone had chosen to be annoyed with them instead for hogging the game, but hey, Ren was never one to turn down compliments or friendly exchanges.

Facing Ann with a friendly smile, Ren -- still in male form -- made an open gesture with their hand, somewhere between a salute and a wave as they brought it up to their forehead and flicked their wrist. What a strange gesture to make, but it was just how they rolled.

"Thank you, thank you! Though I dunno about that. It's just a matter of perspective and coordination, haha. Once you stand in the right spot, it gets pretty easy!" They said with a sheepish chuckle, before folding their arms behind their back, interlocking their own fingers together as they leaned toward the new friend. "My name's Ren. I take it you're a brand new student too? Well, I guess it's either that or you're faculty, but you don't look like faculty! Appearances can be deceiving, but you know, it's whatever. Anyway! What was your name?"

They were a chatty one, getting sidetracked over themself by just trying to ask Ann's name. If nothing else though, someone had to be friendly here.

After Lydias defeat she decided to go get a bite from one of the food carts, she was feeling quite famished anyway. She lines up at a stand selling various treats, she purchases a can of soda along with a large stick of beef jerky. She takes a bite, struggling to rip a piece of meat off the stick. Lydia shoves her change into her pocket and pulls out the key chain, she scoffs and throws it on the ground as she continues to walk down the trial. She stops at bench and sits down, noticing a girl and a bow towering over her arguing.

'Hit him!' She laughs aloud at her joke to herself. Still laughing she focuses on the meal in front of her, taking another bite frowning 'I literally hate beef jerky why did I get this.' Standing up, she walks to the nearest trash can and throws the stick in. She hold her hair out of her face as she spits the chunk in her mouth into the can then goes back to the bench, opening up the drink and taking a sip.

As soon as the women’s voice sounded behind her, she knew she had been found out. Cursing under her breath, Charlotte turned on her heal to the direction of the voice and gave her most pleasant smile.

“Hi.” She responded evenly. A quick reading didn’t tell Charlotte a whole lot other than the fact that this woman was curious about her powers, and of course that she knew what hat she wasn’t really drinking Sprite. Really? That was it? She narrowed her eyes as the lady asked the question.

“Mind reader.” She replied simply, adjusting her hat a bit self consciously. There wasn’t much she could do at this point but comply.

“What about you..?” She asked, trying to keep up the conversation, ignoring the question about her drink.

Blinking idly at his response she taps her chin for a moment in thought before taking note of the mask and gloves, seeming to put the pieces to together "Hmm I mean that's the same for most people if they're not careful right?, the only difference I'm guessing is you do it unintentionally by default....Hmm, I wonder is it something like a burning touch? Super sticky hands? hmm well that would need some special gloves and those seem fairly normal, so it must be something that only effects people...or maybe organic stuff, like poison or something? even then it doesn't seem that bad, you just need to avoid skin contact, few workarounds for that....like maybe one of those funny green suits" raising a hand to her mouth to giggle once more as she pictures him within the neon green outfit. I mean humor was always good to lighten a mood and he did seem a little uneasy so couldn't hurt, the way he was standing and concern he seemed to have regarding that power though likely meant it was something difficult to deal with....it also likely meant he had accidents in the past which would mean he had some guilt tied in with all that baggage. Overall it was likely best not to dwell on that so she was grateful for him deciding to change topics, maybe since he also didn't want to dwell on it as well.

Though on the topic of what she did to get here she had to think for a moment on how to answer that, he likely meant regarding her powers but when she tried to explain it to people her age they normally just got glassy-eyed until she gave the really vague answer that she never felt explained them properly. Her eyes shift as she goes into thought before snapping her fingers with a course of action clearly decided.

"Well it's not the easiest question to answer, but I mean regarding the ability I suppose you could call it Tarsdam, its a little complicated but stands for Temporal And Relative Spatial Dimension Alteration and Manifestation, Then again I think a few powers they throw under the realty umbrella tend to be hard to define. In simplest terms, i guess you could say it allows me to control a clocks hands you know? Moving the seconds forward faster, stopping them moving and the like....but perhaps its better to think of it as a big wall of clocks" gesturing in a circular motion as she speaks, narrating with her hands

"Like one could be moved faster while others stay the same, meaning it would seem faster, or seem slower if you limited how fast it could move....or you could move them all at once and everything speeds up, or stop to fall out of sync with the rest before it instantly catches up to be where it should be and never counts what happened in those moments it missed....I really haven't got the best of handles on it as it is so most of it is theoretical until I figure it out, there's a lot of math behind it though....like judging distances, time, accounting for various things like the planet moving....on a few different levels and then you get into the quantum entanglement and stuff, like cause and effect comes into it too, but less of like a straight line and more of a big ball of...." she stops realizing shes getting too complicated again so instead makes a weird wave motion with her hand "Timey wimey wibbly wobbly....stuff. I can jump around a bit though not here since they are really funny about open use of powers, even if its something simple or none damaging" her was face a little embarrassed as she rubs the back of her head lightly.

She really did enjoy the theory and talking about the entire science in general around the area but that wasn't something shared by most people, she couldn't help getting wrapped up in it at times though. Hopefully, it didn't end up too bad, but inwardly she feels she should have just said something like 'I can teleport around' and not mentioned the rest, toned it down to more basic stuff.

Kai Skinner
Amoeba|Orientation Event|Interacting: PlusUltra PlusUltra

Kai didn't feel the need to answer Vetr's ramble about what it was he might do, yet. Her ramble about her power, however, was interesting. For the most part he could understand what she said, or at least grasp the concept, even though he probably couldn't appreciate the scope. When you have as much free time as he did, you find some weird things in books and movies.

"You're a chronokinetic?", Kai didn't understand why that was so hard to explain. "You can manipulate the flow of time in a localized area, but that doesn't mean you can just hit pause, you have to compensate for everything you can't control and what happens as a result of your interference." He was a nerd, he'd seen similar events in pre-Courser era books and movies. That was interesting. He wondered if that meant she could get her laundry done in a reasonable timeframe. Back at the RV, it took his mother weeks to get around to laundry, and that was just hers! Kai and his dad couldn't do theirs because mom would take up the washing machine for days at a time, sucking up all the clean water. What was the point of spending so much to have a working washer/dryer installed if you were never going to use it? He got good at sharking those quarter machines in laundromats.

"I... do you know what an amoeba is?", if she had an understanding of how quantum mechanics works surely she knew that. "I'm kinda like that. Whenever I encounter foreign cells, they get absorbed and anything beneficial or different from my base from them is added to me. Powers, physical attributes," Kai was starting to relax a bit. It was good to nerd out with someone. "When it's direct contact with someone's body..." he shuddered, "It's worse for them the longer I touch them."

He looked at his hands when he said that last bit, before sticking them back in his pockets and shaking his head. "As long as I don't touch anyone, nothing goes wrong."

"No! Chronokinesis is the easy way but it does not account for spatial manipulations and the interpersonal interactions of.....!" the accent becoming far thicker for a moment, leaning forward with her hands on her hips pouting before she stops herself with a sight sigh and looks away "Chronokinetics might be able to produce similar results to some of it, but the methods different, it's like one person is buying an outfit the other is sewing it from scratch, you might have a similar style in the end but you're going to see the subtle differences once you start looking closer you know? plus one wrong stitch and the outfit can fall apart in a disaster... One moves along the paths, another makes there own....but doing that is like...like...descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn " She had tried looking into actual Chronokinetics in the past and how they worked hoping to find some form of shortcut for her abilities in the controlling of them, though everything she did find tended to end in failure after failure until the eventual realization that her power was not as simple as that and the immense calculations behind such needed a constant study, research and experimentation with various principles of quantum mechanics and even then it was creating the theory of it from the ground up. She takes a moment more to compose herself before continuing

"But yeh the rest is kinda right, compensating some big variables so I don't get thrown off balance and messing up...It's not been the easiest and luckily I've not messed up bad enough at trying something too advanced too soon for the most part"

Crossing her arms once more though she listens as he starts to explain his own ability, her eyes showing interest and thought as he speaks with various thoughts and considerations passing through at the implications of the power. "Hmm, So as long as you make a barrier of something your body considers none-beneficial then the effect doesn't take place, but essentially its an unconscious heterotypic fusion though on a larger scale...meaning damage comes from the removal of such things from another person and your skin is a constant semi-permeable state to such contact" her eyes flutter back and forth as she continues the thought "So the only solution is that barrier, to allow conscious control of the process such as disabling it or adjusting what you consider beneficial to prevent the reaction taking place, but the latter two requiring it to allow for active control rather than reactive....Though it also raises the question of the thickness of the barrier required...did you ever try something like a physical or chemical sunscreen?" The Breath of her reading was not isolated purely to one aspect of science, after all, she did have quite a bit of free time when moving around so much so reading was a past time she enjoyed, though rarely did she have a chance to share the topics she had digested or applied them in a relevant manner. The downside to the interest was her accent coming out far stronger than before, not as much as her outburst but far more than their initial speech would imply, something that tended to happen whenever she got emotional or focused on her interest in a particular topic.

Ann forced a laugh when Ren mentioned her being faculty. "Haha...no this is actually my second year here. I'm Ann. Ann Dolby. Nice to meet you!" Yeah, professionals usually just brush off their skills. "You say that but I've never been good, or interested, in sports. If my figure didn't tip you off to that." She slapped her abdomen causing her arm to accidentally fly out like a piston a few inches away from Ren's head before snapping back.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!" Ann exclaimed embarrassed. "I do that some times! I didn't hit you did I?"

Tommy - Rashida/ Charles Babel Charles Babel

Girls never reacted the way Tommy wanted. He glared at her for a moment longer than necessary. It didn't register to him that her empty sleeves might mean anything more than she was just keeping her arms inside the body of her sweater. "Watch yourself," he eventually said, though it was clear he had nothing else to say. To walk away now would seem weak, though. Despite the growing headache, Tommy searched for something else to say.

"... Won't be long before no one will want to be on my bad side," he said, though it came off probably more psychotic than he intended. "At my old school, I was the in-crowd. Do you get me?" Distantly, a part of Tommy was hurting at saying that. He'd left that all behind now to be here, with this girl that was suddenly annoying him beyond belief, surrounded by a bunch of freaks.

Tommy's hands tensed and he let out a frustrated exhale of breath. "What are you gonna do to make it up to me?" he asked.

The woman actually smiled. "Mind reading," she said with a nod, "that explains it." The woman examined Charlotte's eyes intently and it was clear through her thoughts that she was experiencing some degree of sympathy.

"Aaliyah Taylor. I teach some of the Health Science classes, mostly for the younger students. Though, I think most of our students will become pretty familiar with me, considering I can sense power usage." Though she had used the word sense, her thoughts indicated it was really just a kind of smell.

"Don't worry, you're not in trouble for the mind reading. We understand there are some powers are harder to turn off than others. However, what you're drinking on the other hand..." Considering Charlotte seemed intent not to focus on that, Aaliyah moved to pluck the can from her with a polite "thank you."

"I will look the other way on the alcohol for today. Schools for PEPs are still relatively new and I know it might be nerve-wracking. All I ask is that you try to keep the privacy of your peers in mind, and of course..." She exhaled heavily, wary of an argument. "Neither I or anyone else better catch you with it again."

Kaden raised an eyebrow as the immaculately dressed man crassly spat his gum onto the floor. Everything about this act seemed to betray the air he gave off, which admittedly was a little bit of a comfort to the freshman.

"It's a lot of...uh, instinct?" Kaden responded, lightly tossing Arthur Jr. in place as he tried to find the right words to out the concept forth. It was something he had just come to know through sheer trial and error. For a brief moment he considered using the plush as a learning tool, instantly reminding him of the academy's rather disagreeable stance on power using. With one final catch he solidified his grip on the mascot once again, tucking him back under his arm. "I guess the best way to say it is that I just take that energy and save it for later. It's like combining actions into one. I've found some quirks about it here and there, but that's pretty much it. Still have a lot of things I want to test out."

As he watched Christoph adjust his tie, it seemed as good a transition as any into his fulfilling his own curiosity. "Though you seem like you know what's up. You new to this place too? What's your power?"

Christoph finished adjusting his tie and then responded, "This is indeed my first year, it took me a while to convince my parents to allow me to go here. Being from New york, Seattle isn't exactly right around the corner." He said putting his hand in his front pocket of his jacket, shuffling around for an item. He took out a pen which looked highly expensive, " Now, my power essentially allows me to manipulate gravity to my will. I've been getting better everyday at it though my understanding of it is still pretty elementary." He said presenting his pen to the freshman.

"I know that we're technically not supposed to use our power but what's the fun in that." He said glancing around a bit for faculty before continuing, "I can do several things to objects or people." Without a hassle, the pen floated up from his hand for a second before quickly falling down, "I can make things weightless or heavier by increasing or decreasing the gravitational pull on them." He searched around for another test subject. He caught sight of a can on the ground a little bit ways away, "I can also.." Christoph raised his hand in the direction of the can and a few moments later, the can quickly crushed, looking more like a flat piece of aluminum now. "I can also crush objects." Christoph said putting his pen back in his pocket, hoping nobody saw the quick presentation. "If I use it on larger or heavier objects, my brain can only take so much and I get massive headaches or nosebleeds that could last for hours, that's why you usually won't see me using it on any large objects, at least for now." Christoph said gesturing to his head. His power can be pretty brutal to his body sometimes and some of more extreme side effects he likes to keep under wraps.
