[it was a bright and sunny day in Sant Monica as summer was nearing its end. It was shortly past six when the first signs of life began to fill the house as the kids of the home began to rise for their last week of summer vacation. The news of someone new coming to the home had spread through the house like wild fire the previous evening. ]

Felix raised a hand to shield his eyes from the blinding morning sun that shone like a perfect beam at him, reflectively turning his head away and quickly letting go of the blinds he'd manually parted-open. He dropped off his tiptoes and blinked a couple of times, the colors burnt onto his eyes from the sun's attack as he tried to look around again. Each strange color, pattern and shape floated burnt into his visible clearly over the plain backdrop of white-tiles and blue-green curtain of the doctors office he'd been restlessly pacing around in.

Strange squiggles of blue and purple floated over the cart of tools. A green-brown blur pulsed over the face of Ms Ternson (She was the CPS lady who'd been handling his case, and who he'd been in the custody of the past few days), who'd had to drag Felix down here for a emergency check-up first thing this morning to just sign-off that Felix was healthy enough to move into the foster home today. To the tired frustration of all involved, the paediatrician Dr Steel who had treated Felix had her diary fully booked for the next month; so they had to arrange for this emergency appointment squeezing Felix in first thing before normal clinic start.

Felix was still barely awake, it not even being 6AM by the time they arrived. Not the blinding sunrise coming cared as Felix realised, rubbing his eyes to try and force the colourful figments to disappear. As he did there was a click from the door handle, as through it came the doctor carrying a coffee in one hand, and her clipboards overstuffed with notes on the other. She placed them on her desk and gave a smile to Ms Ternson, "Mary, a pleasure as always." nodding her head a little before looking to over to her patient and giving a soft smile as if supressing a laugh. "Good Morning Felix, sorry it's early." He said with a friendly tone watching as the boy was rubbing his eyes. "Mind hoping up over here, and we can get started?" She continued patting the exam table besides her.
Felix had gotten pretty used to doctors at this point, even before the.. well the more recent accident, having gotten himself injured doing stupid stunts and dares time after time. Dr Steel was pretty new only having been treated by here here for the recent events, but they'd struck up a pretty fun conversation the last time they were here where she asked about videogames he likes to play. In short, Felix already liked this doctor and this check-up was going to be a breeze and so he quickly hopped up onto the table.

Some time later Felix stepped out of the office with Ms Ternson - a small lollypop in hand and hastily being unwrapped given to him as a birthday gift from the Doctor. Stitches all taken out leaving Felix with a small scar on his forehead mostly hidden by his fringe, vision, temperature, blood pressure, reflexes, ect, ect all checked, and despite the accident Felix was physically in perfect shape bouncing back as he always did.
Reaching the car out in the quiet morning parking lot Felix froze up, just standing there vacant frozen up. Ms Ternson having to spend the next couple of minutes in struggle to get Felix into the car. Eventually getting him seated and belted into the rather messy car. Ms Ternson hadn't had much chance to clean it up and she really didn't ferry around the kids she managed that often but with Felix's often severe resistance to car rides she didn't have the option of letting the normal drivers handle it. Felix has his backpack in there with him containing a few of his belongings, mostly clothes and PJs, toothbrush, ect, like someone going away on vacation or to a friend house. Ms Ternson also handed across Felix's rollerblades from the footwell and placed them on his lap in hoping it'd act as some form emotional comfort for the kid, a anchor or normality for him; the yellow laces slightly glowing fluorescently in the slight shadow of the car's interior.

Because Felix wasn't currently away simply on vacation, not with more of his stuff already sent ahead the nights before to the Foster Home - a fact that began to dawn on Felix and snap him out of his car-induced shock as the car began to move, pulling out of the Hospital parking lot - Ms Ternson simultaneously dialling a number on the phone through her bluetooth earpiece. "Mr Miles, hope I didn't wake you. Yes this is Mary Ternson, SM CPS... *[pause]* Yep this is about Felix. Doctor's all happy to give us the all clear, so as we discussed last night I'll be driving him down to the home shortly. We're just pulling out of the hospital now, should be there in fifteen-, twenty minutes tops. Has his stuff made it there okay? ... [long pause] *Hmm..* ...Alright I'll call Rob and ask where the rest of it is later but he's got all the basics there? Right that's fine."
Felix suddenly gripping the skates put on his lap tightly, right, this wasn't some vacation. It was summer break, it could maybe feel like that or maybe akin to a dream for a while.. But no this was long term housing until either his Mom got better, or family took him in. The thought of either made Felix's stomach immediately twist into knots. ...Or maybe that was just the bumping of the car combining with the citric lemon of the sucker? Either way Felix's face lost all colour, he was going to be sick!

Asher awoke as the morning sun infiltrated his room covering his eyes for a moment he let out an aggravated groan not ready for the day to begin. After a few minutes he realized it was pointless to put off the inevitable any longer. He rolled out of bed and despite how tired he was he began his quick morning workout. Doing some push-ups followed by crunches and finishing with pull-ups on the bar he had hung in his room. Workout completed and having worked up quite the sweat he grabbed his things and headed for the bathroom to deal with his morning routine.

A short while later Asher left the bathroom ready to tackle the day but not before checking one last time on his appearance in the mirror. He made his way to the rec room which contained a small kitchen the kids could use. As he entered the empty room he grabbed a bowl of cereal and popped some bread in the toaster taking his seat at the island bar in the middle of the kitchen and began eating. His phone dinged a notification which Asher glanced at before whipping his phone across the room it landing violently on the couch. “Why wont he leave me alone!” He muttered to himself angrily as he took another spoonful of his cereal.

Evelyn could have been mistaken for having not heard about the news of a new kid the previous evening, seeming to not having reacted at all. Yet for Ev' the line between apathy, just spacing out, or her just wilfully ignoring something was a fine and difficult line to read. Regardless of the truth she genuinely seemed to pay it less mind than both the hard working staff and other curious kids, even as cardboard boxes and suitcases were brought upstairs to the boys dorms. She never did gossip and try and learn more, though she knew the staff wouldn't say any more than 'boy or girl around x age' anyway. It didn't matter to Evelyn; faces came, and faces went, all just another visitor to stay a week or two, maybe a few months.
No all she seemed to care about the previous evening was if all her plants had gotten enough water, and if she had enough time to finish drawing a character of hers before she settled down for bed - needing to squeeze it in between meditation and reading another chapter of her current book, a cheesy romance novel she had been indulging herself in.

The next morning was as any other. Evelyn was always a early riser; greeting the sun every morning ritualistically, and watering the many flowers in her room from a water bottle she kept by her bedside. She grabbed her towel and went straight to the bathroom, grabbing a shower bother most others were awake - before spending time brushing the knots from her hair in the mirror in her room. After a few minutes of just staring in the mirror she got herself dressed and made her way downstairs, idly running her hand down the stair rail and staring off again nearly missing the turning into the rec room.

She blinked and snapped herself out of it, and entered the room passing Asher quickly as she made her to the Kitchen. Quickly but scattered she began collecting various ingredients: eggs, milk, cocoa powder, sugar, flour and in this disorganised yet somehow spotless process began to start cooking up something to eat from scratch, actually a lot of something. She placed out some bowels, and began mixing a batter while adding coco powered and strawberry. This recipe likely familiar to the other teen after all the years they've both been a resident here. (It seemed on any day which a new kid arrives, she always seems to make chocolate pancakes for breakfast with spares for others.) Whatever she was making, it was a large departure from her normal healthier breakfasts the others would see her have day to day.

As the phone is launched across the room, and the other teen shouts at the top of his voice she doesn't even pause or blink, and instead just lets Asher calm down with another mouthful of cereal before speaking up. "Jordan?" Evelyn asked, the older teens voice soft as she speaks that name while looking down at Asher. Then just instantly looking away, turning to grab another ingredient for her cooking - along with a cloth to quickly assist with her constant cleaning, running the cloth along and wiping down any flour or mess she left before turning back to Asher. "-Is being angry worth you buying a new phone?" She asked, though she kept a genuine questioning rise in tone despite that sounding like a rhetorical question.

Jack woke up to a blinding morning sun shining in through his windows. "Another day at this place," he thought to himself in his head sadly. He remembered hearing some news about some new kid. Honestly, Jack couldn't care less. Himself being the newest kid to the home, someone new was coming to take his place as the newbie. He was just glad the attention wouldn't be on him. He knew what it felt like to be the new kid, as just a few days prior he was that new kid. Luckily he had mostly been able to avoid any unwanted social interactions.

Jack dreaded the thought of having to leave the comfort, safety, and privacy of his own room, but his stomach growled telling him that he couldn't stay up here all day: he needed to eat something. "Alright Jack, just a quick in and out," he told himself in his head. All he would be doing is grabbing a simple bite to eat, he just needed to keep his head down and not talk to anyone like he had been doing for the past few days, mostly successfully. Jack figured this new kid would be shy and a nervous wreck and probably would want nothing to do with anyone, which was good for Jack. That meant less talking for him.

Jack stepped out of his bed tiredly and looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was a bit of a mess so he combed it to make it look a bit more natural. Once his nice brown hair was presentable enough, the boy slipped on a pair of black basketball shorts and a maroon t-shirt. The boy quietly slipped downstairs. Breakfast's aroma filled the air, causing him to be even more hungry. He put a hand on his belly as he heard his stomach growl. He was really hungry today and figured he'd eat himself a big breakfast.

The young brown haired boy entered the dining hall and cautiously looked around.

The sunlight slowly filled the room as the sun came up from the horizon. Miyako was starting to wake and got out of bed to get ready for the day. The news of a new kid coming didn't bother her, it would just mean another room was gonna be filled to her concern, but she would try to make a good impression. Getting into a comfy, but presentable outfit, she made her way downstairs, making sure to grab the current book she was reading and slipping her phone into her pocket. As she made her way downstairs, she didn't need to give a thought of what she wanted to cook. Every morning, if there wasn't school that day, she would make a Japanese breakfast, or as Japanese as she could get with the ingredients in an American foster home at least. So this morning she decided on rice, tamagoyaki, and some stir fry vegetables. She made a note to ask the staff if they could get miso from the local Asian supermarket or she could maybe buy it herself, oh how she missed miso soup. She entered the dining hall, seeing Asher, Evelyn, and Jack in there. Bowing slightly and saying a quick good morning, she set her book down in a chair next to Asher as she made her way into the kitchen.

Seeing Evelyn already cooking, Miyako tried her best not to get in her way. Muttering which ingredients she needed in Japanese, underneath her breath, she grabbed all of them. Cooking a bit of rice in a pot, she put in on the stove, since that should be done by the time she was finished cooking the rest of the food. She made quick work of the rest of her meal, but in the middle of making her stir fry vegetables, she heard something hit that wall. She jumped slightly at the loud noise, and tensed up slightly at Asher's yelling. But she kept on cooking and eventually she relaxed once more. Soon everything was done, taking the food, she placed it in front of her claimed spot on the island. She put the pots and pans she used into the sink, making a note to wash them later.

"Itadakimasu" Miyako said, putting her hands together as she bowed her head slightly. Now she could dig in. As she ate she wondered when the new kid would get here.

The bright morning sun had been the slightly unwanted signal Nate needed to wake from his slumber he sat up in his bed a sower look on his face. Nathaniel didn’t like the groggy feeling you get when you first wake up and because of that it was one of the few times you would ever see the young boy in a bad mood. He looked around his silent world as he scratched his head causing his already messy hair to become even more wild.

Nate didn’t bother getting dressed or taking a shower this morning mostly because he felt extra grouchy this morning and didn’t want to. He hoped out of bed wearing nothing but the underwear he slept in the previous night. Grabbing his phone and ipad he headed out of his room the smell of chocolate pancakes bombarding him as he did. This made his grouchy attitude disappear in an instant. As the smell made him remember that they would soon have a new kid joining them. Nathaniel loved meeting new people and couldn’t wait to see who would be joining the crew.

A smile now firmly plastered on his face he made his way through the house with something of a small skip in his step. He opened the door to the rec room just in time to see Asher’s phone fly across the room. Nathaniel quickly decided that it better he stay out of it and not get in Asher’s way. Avoid him completely in fact if he could. Nate looked around the room and sure enough he could see the source of the wonderful smell. He smiled happily as he took a seat as far away from Asher as he could while still being sat at the island. He quickly typed on his Ipad having it read aloud waving as it did. “Good morning everyone. It smells great in here.

Jack quickly slipped into the dining hall hoping to go un-noticed. The boy quickly got his favorite meal: pancakes. He then moved down a little and smothered his pancakes in sweet syrup. The boy loved having lots of syrup on his pancakes. It was his favorite breakfast food.

He turned around and scanned the main dining hall, looking for an empty seat to sit in. The boy spotted a nice empty seat in the back corner of the dining hall. Jack walked over to get himself a simple drink of water before going to that back corner of the dining hall and sitting alone. The young brown haired boy was quiet and reserved, and didn't mind sitting on his own. In fact, he actually preferred it. He kept his head down as he took his seat. He looked around nervously making sure no one was in his general area. Once he felt the coast was cleared, he sighed a sigh of relief and began taking slow small bites of his pancakes. He had a leaning stack of about five or so pancakes, all lathered up in sweet gooey syrup.

Asher sat and stewed in his anger of a few moments before responding. "how about we don't say say his name and act like he doesn't exist. Hows that sound?" Asher barked with some venom in his voice. Before getting up and stacking his dishes in the sink. He made his way over to the couch picking up his phone and checking to see if he had broken it. to his delight and surprise it appeared to be in working order. "though your right he isn't worth buying a new phone." he sighed sitting on the couch and turning on the TV.

Asher Idly flipped through channels trying to find something to get his mind off of things. His grouchy attitude would surely last throughout the day and Asher already wanted the day to be over. He heavily contemplated just going back to back to sleep but he knew that wouldn't solve anything. so He decided to just tough it out.

Almost as if on cue for those who where wondering when the new kid would showed up; there was a unhealthy cough from the engine of Ms Ternson's metallic-green old junker of a car, as it pulled up in the driveway in full view of any kid who decided to look out the window of the Kitchen's dining/rec area. Once pulled out the social worker stepped out of the vehicle and went around to the rear passenger door by Felix and opening it for him since it had been understandably child-locked.

*flop* As if like a ragdool Felix, and then the rollerblades on his lap just fell almost comically out the car and onto the asphalt outside. The young boys skin was pale, and just laid there pretending to be dead dry panting. He didn't really understand it since, he never really had this problem before but now riding in a car like this just made him sick to his core, and his whole body tense up. The knots in his stomach the entire ride tried to make him puke, yet with Ms Ternson being aware of the situation she had made sure Felix hadn't ate yet before driving him up here. When he tried nothing but the slightly citrus taste mixed with stomach goop came up, leaving Felix's throat with a sickly burnt feeling but avoiding any actual mess to the car.

Ms Ternson just left Felix on the ground for the moment. Taking a few steps around the kids body to lean inside the car and grabbing his backpack from the car, along with paperwork that was in left in one of her suitcases in the back. She hoped it'd give Felix time to calm down and pull himself together. She closed the door shortly after and stood there for a good 30 seconds until it became clear Felix wasn't getting himself up. "Alright Felix, come on.." she tried began trying to coax him up he was just too out of it between the carsickness and the anxiety of the situation crushing down on him. In defiance Felix turned his head sharply away, not really in control right now, tears starting to form in his eyes. Despite further words Felix couldn't hear them right now.

Miss Ternson let out a loud frustrated sigh like someone who didn't get paid enough and knelt down on the ground besides the boy. She pauses and took a long look at him before reaching over to pick up the boys skates which had clattered along the ground; but as she moved to do so Felix quickly moved to grab them protectively pulling them into almost a hug as he tried to return to the ball on the ground. Yet Ms Ternson just shook her head gently placing a hand on his back. "Hey hey I get it, I get it it's okay. I get it, your going through a lot, it's all really confusing right now especially with all that happened." Felix flinched a little. "Shhh, come on, can you get up for me? Look I promise I'm gonna keep in contact with your family, and try and see if I can arrange something with them, okay? Just need some time to get stuff arranged - And otherwise the only other choice is you get back into the car and we're gonna have to go on another drive back up the office again." She continued trying to both ease his anxiety, as well as use the threat of another car ride to scare him out of it.

And it worked Felix did start to calm, as he uncurled to look up at the CPS woman again, sniffling and clearing one eye of tears with his hoodie's sleeve. "...You mean that, like you promise?" He'd already been told this but just in this break he needed to hear it anyway. The woman just smile and nodded pulling her hand back. "Yes, I promise." With that she gets to her feet before offering down a hand to the boy. "Now come on, I thought you were this big fearless skater boy, don't tell me your gonna get stagefright meeting your new roommates."
At hearing Ms Ternson's words Felix quickly began to pull himself together, picking himself up from the ground wiping the few tears from his now red and puffy face, almost in defiance at the very idea he was scared.
He got up onto his own two feet without help and shock his head, and flicked his hair a little with one hands to get it back in place ready to make a good impression. "What, I- no im not scared! What's to be scared off? I'm good. Yeah! I'm I'll be good." Felix's response was more to pump himself up than anything - though he was honestly still pretty vulnerable right now, and actually was scared of meeting a lot of the other kids but he wasn't going to just cry and mope on the ground. Skates held in one hand fingers through the cloth loops, Felix ran quickly to catch up and follow as Ms Ternson headed up the steps outside to the main door to greet the staff, hand over papers, and get him introduced to everyone. To his new temporary home here at Santa Monica.

There was no hint of anger, frustration or anything as Ash unleashed a venomous tirade into Evelyn's face. She just kept her same expression, maybe a tiny hint of a smile as he puts his plates in the pile to be washed, and then immediately went back to cooking the sweetened breakfast.
Quickly out came the pan, heated and batter poured, doing her best to also dance around Miyako to not get in her way either. Soon a delicious plate of Chocolate and Strawberry pancakes began to form on a large serving plate behind her along with a jug of maple syrup. Evelyn passing a very quick wave at Nathan as she turned his direction but without missing a beat went back to adding into the stack. Seemingly without her notice Jack coming in and grabbing a stack from the plate while her back was turned - yet she either didn't notice the fact soo many were missing or didn't care, as she just continued adding more, and more, and more till she run out of battery and had a miniature tower that could feed everyone with some leftover.

Once done she had a small but satisfied smile on her face, as she made a beckoning motion for Nathan to come over as she plated him up a stack, along with a few extra fresh strawberries ontop - a healthy touch to her otherwise unhealthy special occasion breakfast. She signed to Nathan a single word 'enjoy' before trying to briefly ruffle his hair and then just turning back away.

She did briefly pause and look to the window. "Oh, it sounds like the new kid's here...." To which Evelyn immediately began plating up another set of pancakes for the newest arrival - of course this plate also getting an extra set of fresh strawberries on top. To which she then paused, swiftly walked across the room and places a handful on Jack's plate with just a big smile to let him know she noticed. Then without a word and again not missing a beat in her stride she just turned on her heel, and returned back to the centre island to plate her own.

As Jack sat and began eating his pancakes, which he had honestly taken too many of, the boy perked up a bit as he heard some stirring about outside. "Must be the new kid," he thought to himself in his head as he rolled his eyes and continued eating his sugary breakfast meal. Truthfully, the boy couldn't care less. If anything this was a good thing for him because it meant all of the attention would be on the new kid, and not on him. Being his first few days here, he had surprisingly yet mostly successfully managed to escape the lime light and the attention of the curious and eager kids ready to meet him. By now, their hype surely must have died down. Jack sat alone in the corner, more than happy to stuff his face in peace in quiet in his own little corner. He was glad to have avoided even needing to talk to anyone, and that he had successfully slipped by Evelyn while her back was turned.

"Smells pretty nice, Evelyn." Miyako complimented Evelyn on her pancakes. She didn't indulge much in other cuisines aside from Japanese, but if she wanted to try other foods, she would go to Evelyn in a heartbeat. Seeing as she was done with her own breakfast, she collected all her plates and bowls and placed it in the sink. "I've got the washing." She called out to the rest of the group, so they wouldn't have to worry about it and the staff wouldn't have a mountain of dishes to wash. Rolling up her sleeves to prevent them from getting wet, she started to scrub the plates, pans, pots, basically whatever was put in there, she washed it. About halfway through, she heard Evelyn say that the new kid had arrived. Her head turned to face the window as she glanced outside. It sure did look like it, the car was outside and she got a glimpse of a couple people. She resumed washing though, if the new kid would be hungry, Miyako was sure that Evelyn's pancakes were more than enough to satisfy any hunger.

[Mrs. Richardson the manager of the house had been in her office all morning making sure things were all squared away for both Felix's arrival and all of the kids returning to school the following week. She very much enjoyed her job and its ability to make a difference in the lives of so many kids who hadn't had the best luck. She exited her office as she heard the ding of the front door announcing Felix's arrival greeting him and his case worker with a warm smile. "so you must be Felix? I'm Mrs. Richardson I am in charge around here if you have any problems you just come talk to me okay?" she greeted warmly before turning to Ms. Ternson the two exchanged a few words and paperwork before she turned back to Felix. " alright young man why don't I show you around real quick, show you where your room is so you can drop off your stuff and then you can meet the other it smells like they have some pancakes if your hungry." with that the two departed making their way through the facility as Mrs. Richardson explained where everything was. They stopped by Felix's room and deposited his bag before heading back down to the recroom.

As the two of them entered Mrs. Richardson stood beside Felix with a wide smile. " Can I have everyone's attention.... This is Felix the new boy I am sure you all heard was coming today. He has had a rough time recently so I expect you will all make him feel welcome if I hear otherwise there will be consequence. Understood?" After receiving confirmation from the room she added "good well Felix looks like pancakes are over there feel free to help your-self if you need anything ill be in my office." with that she stood and surveyed the room her eyes falling on Nate she smiled and chuckled lightly before signing to him " Nate please get some clothes on." then speaking one last time before leaving the room " well Ill leave you all to it." ]

Nate watch as the two girls danced around eachother in the kitchen he found it amusing as they both tried to stay out of the way. As pancakes quickly began to pile up Nate watched in shock as half the stack suddenly disappeared onto Jacks plate. Sure Nate knew Ev’ was making enough for everyone but he didn’t even ask or wait for them to be offered which shocked him. It wasn’t long before the pancakes were done and Evelyn beckoned Nathaniel over serving him a plate stacked high with the delicious smelling cakes.

Food in hand Nate looked around the room sticking he tongue out slightly like he was deep in concentration after a moment he headed to where Jack sat by himself not wanting to have someone be left out. He quietly took a seat across from Jack and began eating he didn’t make a big deal about sitting here he just sat quite eating his food with a small smile on his face.

A few minutes had Passed and he was still enjoying his breakfast his eyes wondering around the room that is until he looked outside and saw a boy on the ground clearly distraught about something. Nathaniel new this must be the new kid. His heart sank for a moment feeling bad for the boy who was clearly having a rough time. But Nate pushed those feelings away wanting to be his happy self when the boy was inevitably introduced to everyone. Nate went back to his food resisting the urge to look outside.

As Nate finished his meal he mad his way over to the sink with his dishes where he saw Miyako had started washing up he politely held his dishes out to her signing "thank you very much" Just as Nate turned to head back to his seat the door opened and in walked Mrs. Richardson followed shortly by the new kid. Nate stopped dead in his tracks as his heart skipped a few beats and butterflies roamed in his stomach suddenly Nate felt underdressed he didn't know why as he never cared if anyone say him in his underwear but this time was different. Nathaniel watched closely as Mrs. Richardson spoke carefully reading her lips as she went. He then turned a noticeable shade of pink as Mrs. Richardson called him out for not wearing clothes. He signed back "I will" before she left. Hesitantly grabbing his Ipad Nathaniel walked over to Felix struggling to type with his Shaking hands. "Hello Im Nathaniel or Nathan or Nate. Its nice to meet you." The robotic British voice read as Nate stuck out his hand in greeting it still visibly shaking.
coded by reveriee.

Jack perked up as he heard Mrs. Richardson call for everyone's attention in the dining hall. Despite being a nice lady, to Jack that voice commanded his utmost respect. He stopped eating for a moment to pay attention to what the woman had to say. He looked up at her and looked down at his plate as he rolled his eyes at the thought of making the new kid welcome. He decided he'd let the other kids handle that part, and stay out of the new kid's- and everyone's for that matter- way for the time being.

As she left the room, Jack's shoulders eased up a bit as he went back to looking down at his plate. He sighed as he continued eating the rest of his pancakes. The boy was hungry, but he had realized he certainly took too many pancakes and knew in his mind he couldn't finish them all.

He decided that after he was done eating, maybe he'd go back to his room and do something there. It was a nice day so maybe he'd go outside and play some sports alone to clear his mind and de-stress. First he knew he had to slip away out of view of anyone like he usually did as to avoid and unwanted social interactions.

He did notice something that alarmed him quite a bit. It was Nathaniel taking a seat a little bit too close in proximity to Jack for his comfort. He looked up at the boy seeing him smile but immediately looked back down at his plate, hoping the boy did not notice him. Jack prayed in his head that the young boy across from him wouldn't initiate any sort of conversation. He just wanted to finish eating his food and go outside to play some sports alone or something. He was glad to see Nate eventually finish his food and leave without talking to him. Jack assumed the boy got his hint that he wasn't interested in starting any sort of conversation.

Asher Sighed loudly as Mrs. Richardson came in and made her announcement, He rolled his eyes as she finished. "oh ill make him feel welcome.... welcome to kiss my ass." he mumbled under his breath having no interest in even playing nice right now. Besides the sooner the new kid learns to stay out of my way and not to mess with me the better. he thought to himself as he reluctantly remove himself from the couch groaning in displeasure as he did. Asher turned around and there he was the new kid Felix with Nate next to him finishing hi greeting. Yeah the pipsqweak better learn his place and fast.

Asher walked over faking a smile as he held out his hand. " HI im Asher" he greeted. The moment Felix took his hand though his demeanor shifted entirely he jerked the twelve year old in closer to him leaning down to his ear. " look.... Felix is it? lets get a few things perfectly clear. First I run things around here what i say goes and don't question me if you know what's good for you. Second I don't want to be your friend so go bark up another tree. and third see that Tv?" he gestured to the TV on the wall in front of the couch. " Its mine if i'm not in here watch whatever stupid cartoons you want but when I want it I get it. Got it?" with that he released the boy from his grip standing up straight once again clapping his hands together. " good well I'm going to head outside. you should go get some breakfast while its still hot. I'm sure your starving." He smiled clapping Felix lightly on the shoulder. pushing him in the direction of the kitchen before heading out the door.

Evelyn as she walks back to the centre island gives a small smile and nod to Miyako, "Your breakfast as well Miyako, the eggs came out great and your stir fried vegetables smell amazing." She couldn't help but smile a little at her a little, admiring the handiwork and dedication to making her own food each day. There was a brief pause in her step, thinking of ways to incorporate them into other dishes, Evelyn's never tried making a more fusion dish before - could be interesting. Evelyn then blinked snapping out of her though. Then plating up her own pancakes and looking to Miyako once again for a moment before turning to step away.

Yet as she did so the new kid arrived, and the staff gave their usual 'they've had a rough time, please treat them well, ect ect.' The normal routine, and as always she never actually replied when the staff wanted confirmation - they knew her enough anyway. Yet this wasn't the normal arrival - what made this arrival a bit different was Asher heading up and threatening a kid how as a lot smaller than him. Huh, that was beyond expectations.

Yet she didn't intervene or move to react simply waited for Asher to go, before suddenly flicking out her spatula she had used like one a dueling sabre towards Felix (though still a good distance away at the counter). "Evelyn - Now syrup and strawberries are here, feel free to eat up." Despite pointing the cooking utensil like a weapon she didn't sound aggressive or authoritive at all more as she gave a smile - returned it to the sink with the other dishes and made her way over to the couch.
Evelyn sat herself cross legged on the couch and began to eat away at a small portion of her own creation.

Felix followed Mrs Richardson as she gave the tour around the building, trying to ask some questions despite his anxiety not wanting to come off as afraid; the nerves were obvious but still a brave face. He deposited his backpack in his room, and thankfully saw 'some' of his other stuff there, though apparently some of it was still needing to be sent over. Felix opted to keep his rollerblades on him and in hand for the time.

Once he made it to the Rec, the small boy looked around awkwardly - as he kinda knew everyone was taller than him as always. Felix expected to be the smallest, but he did really really hope it wouldn't been the case. The staff didn't lie though, the room did smell delicious and indeed the pancakes were defiantly what drew his attention. Yet before he had a chance to build up his courage and say anything he already had some of the others approaching him.
First a nearly naked kid walking up with an ipad using text-to-speech named Nathan, which for some reason just make Felix laugh a bit - he couldn't really say what part just something about how odd it seemed. "Hehe, nice to meet you too Nathan." Felix instinctually trying to measure himself up against them as they got closer but, yeah they were taller, maybe Felix could get even on tiptoes..? He didn't really notice the other boy's anxiety but reading people was never his strength.

Yet before he had even fully realised what was happening an older kid approached him holding out his hands, and then proceeded to grab Nathan tightly, trying to verbally bully him into submission. Normally Felix would just instantly punch or kick someone if someone tried this but.. Something about the whole situation kept him still a little paralysed, in a daze unable to muster his normal strength. Yet as Asher went on his tirade, Felix despite clearly being anxious (clear in his body language and expression) kept his eyes locked on The Jerk™️ of a bully before him not averting his cold-blue gaze at all - Asher feeling a surprising amount of resistance as he kept the kid grabbed, defiantly more strength than he likely expected from the pipsqueak as he reflectively pushes back as Asher weakens his grip. Felix still getting clapped on the back however and and stumbling towards the kitchen as The Jerk leaves.

Felix's adrenaline ran hot for a few moments before he got snapped out of it by the suddenly soft command of Evelyn who ordered/asked him to enjoy breakfast..? ..Okay that was bit weird. Still Felix did so heading over to the central island, set his rollerblades down on the floor besides the stool and hopped up taking the opportunity to get some yummy food in his system as advised. A pleasant stream of noises from the boy as he ravenously began to dig in.

Same jacket/hoodie and t-shirt combo as in photo.

Jack finally finished most of what was his breakfast. He was a small boy and couldn't finish all five of those pancakes, so he left a few half eaten ones on the plate. The young boy located a trash can and dumped what part of his meal he did not eat into it. He then quickly went to the area were both Evelyn and Miyako were dealing with dishes and left his plate to be cleaned without a word. He slipped by without either of the two girls turning to notice him. He was like a ghost in the shadows.

As soon as he went to throw out his uneaten food and put his plate away for washing, he swiftly left the dining hall. The boy didn't even bat an eye, passing the new kid without saying anything. Jack figured the new kid wasn't his problem. He could have sworn he saw Asher say something to the new young boy earlier, but didn't know what it was. Jack, being shy, never even got to the point where he got the aggressive "new guy talk" from Asher. Jack checked behind him a few times as he left the dining hall, making sure that not only no one had followed him, but to make sure no one had been looking at him leave. He was not in the mood to be followed.

With his belly now full of syrup covered pancakes and his hunger completely satisfied, Jack needed to figure out what he was going to do with himself for the day. Ever since he had arrived at the home just a few days ago, he hadn't found time to do an activity he used to love at home: playing street hockey alone. The young athletic boy was in the mood for some sports, so he ran up to his room and looked out the window onto the courtyard. It was empty, perfect, no one was there. Jack went to the corner of his room where he had stuffed a small hockey goal post, the one he had used on the street to play back on his old block, and dragged the net out of its corner. Jack had also brought along a few of his hockey sticks and pucks to the home, so he promptly grabbed one of them from the floor and took two pucks. The boy smiled as he would finally get to be alone with his thoughts while playing his favorite sport outside alone: hockey. He figured he'd use the empty basketball court as his little area since no one was there at the moment.

Jack grabbed his hockey goal post and propped it up on his back, put his two pucks in the pockets of his shorts, a large bulge being created in his pockets due to the pucks being stuffed in there, and took his hockey stick in one hand and prepared to make his way downstairs. With a stick in one hand, a goal post on his back, and his pucks in his pockets, he made his way downstairs, hoping he wouldn't attract too much attention. He looked straight ahead making sure to avoid any eye contact with any of the other kids. They all seemed too busy meeting the new kid, which was good for Jack. To his knowledge, he had managed to make it outside safely without anyone looking at him or following him. As he opened the door to get outside to the courtyard and closed it behind him, he sighed a sigh of relief as he managed to avoid the other kids.

Once fully outside, Jack dragged his street hockey equipment onto the empty basketball court. He then travelled to one end of the court and set up his goal post. He then centered himself at half court, dug through his pockets, and dropped both pucks on the ground in front of him. Both pucks were slightly used from back when he used to play street hockey on his own or with the other neighborhood kids back on his old block. His stick however was in good condition, but heavily worn out and used. It was his favorite stick, one of his first birthday presents he remembers truly loving from his parents when they were still alive. With his trusty favorite hockey stick in hand, the goal post set up, and two pucks on the ground to practice his shot with, he began to play by himself. The boy wondered if he should go inside to go get the jersey of his favorite player from the hockey team he cheered for back home like he usually wore when he practiced and played, but decided it would be too risky to go back inside and that he might attract some unwanted attention. So, the boy began practicing his shot, nailing two pucks into the net and then going to fish them out and put them back on the ground at half court to repeat the process over again. This went on for several minutes. Some pucks went right in the net with no fuss, some loudly clanged the goal post but still went in, and others clanged off the post and missed the net. The boy didn't mind though, he was in his own little world which he loved, consumed by only his thoughts. Practicing his shots in hockey was his favorite thing to do and always helped him to relieve stress. Eventually, Jack got more into it, unaware of any noise he had been making. Occasionally, one would hear the two loud clangs of a puck hitting the iron sides of the goal post from outside. Soon, the boy was beginning to work up quite the sweat.

After Asher's outburst and Felix heading to get some food Nathaniel awkwardly slipped from the room making a b-line for his bedroom to get dressed. As he arrived he began tearing through his clothes tossing things throughout his room as he looked for what he wanted to wear after a few minutes Nate found what he was looking for a light blue Ralph Lauren button up and some Navy chino shorts. he threw them on finishing the ensemble with a pair of black boat shoes he then tidied his hair and rushed back out of his room leaving the mess he made for Future Nathaniel to deal with.

Nate quickly made his way through the facility almost at full sprint back to the rec-room. But as he reached for the door the same feelings from before surfaced his heart skipping his stomach turning hands shaking he stop starring at his hands turning them over a few time as if trying to observe every nook and cranny they possessed. What's wrong with me? Am I sick? Why do I feel like I might die? Nate thought to himself each thought bringing more worry to the boy. never having felt like this before he was confused. He thought maybe he really was sick... No that couldn't be it didn't feel like he was sick it just didn't feel normal. Besides it only happened after seeing the new kid. Am I like allergic to him? Something he's wearing? No couldn't be that it makes no sense.

After a few moments of worried contemplation Nate snapped a finger to signify his having an idea. He turned slowly making his way to the grils dorm area quietly and carefully making his way to a familiar door. Turning towards the door he took a deep breath in before slowly exhaling through his mouth. With that he knocked somewhat frantically of the door. "Dez are you in there? Des I need your help please." he continued knocking and speaking. Hoping Dez would open the doo r.

Dez had never been a morning person--Okay, Dez had never really been a day person. In her life before the home, it'd just been more practical that way. Being awake during the day meant dealing with her baba or Dani and her mom and the later she got up, the closer it was to time she could spend with Ant instead, though it had been a long time since she'd been happy with her third parent. Even now that it didn't serve her, it was a struggle for her to get up before one in the afternoon when there wasn't school to be considered, and even more difficult to get her in bed before at least midnight.

Which is to say that when they woke to the sound of rapid, frantic knocking on their door... They were not happy. She probably would've stayed unhappy if not for the fact that the voice filtering through was very clearly Nate's and he was very clearly in distress. This didn't suddenly shift her from groggy and annoyed to alert and eager to help, but it did wonders to lessen the nastiness brewing in her chest over the entire ordeal.

She shuffled out of bed in a grey tank and baggy plaid pajama shorts, rubbing at her face. What time was it? A quick glance at her phone revealed what she had already known: Too early. She groaned, displeased, and swiveled to the door, movements more like a zombie than a teenager. "I'm comin', I'm comin'."

The door cracked open, Dez peeking out at Nate. "Jesus, you're already dressed?" This was not, admittedly, that much of a shock, but they never liked being reminded that for some people, being up this early wasn't just some cosmic fate worse than death but an active choice they made every single day. She poked her head out further, enough to crane her neck down the hall in search of anyone who, for reasons she couldn't begin to try and fathom, might be trying to hurt Nate. Sure, no one here typically wished Nate harm, and she hadn't heard screams, but there was always the possibility, right? "Someone fuckin' with you?"

Asher stepped outside a nice breeze and the fresh air greeting him as he took a deep breath in. He wandered around the grounds of the home lighting a cigarette as he walked. As stressed as he was he didn't even try and hide the smoking not caring if he got in trouble. as he walked he just thought about everything going on in his life in the past and present attempting to compartmentalize his feeling into something he could manage. In the end deciding he should return to what he had done for the past several years of his life. Letting Jordan in was a mistake... one he had no intentions of repeating.

After a short while his thoughts were interrupted by a loud metal clanging to his annoyance it continued over and over again two clangs pause two more clangs. sometimes the pattern would switch up with only one clang ringing through the air. Asher decided to see what was happening he made his way around the house to where the sound appeared to be coming from and saw jack on the basketball court shooting hockey pucks. Asher didn't interact with the boy nor did he have any intention to instead he just stood there watching the boy some amount of irritation spreading across his face but not overly so. He lit another cigarette as he just continued to stare at the boy for several minutes

Nate stood silently for a few moment as Dez opened the door his breathing slightly labored from his frantic actions causing his adrenaline and anxiety to skyrocket despite there being no serious danger. He looked up to her as he inquiry fell from her lips. First Nate shook his head after a second of pause he nodded then a second later he shrugged throwing his hands the his side in a minor amount of defeat. He didn't know how to answer the question on one hand he was sure Felix was the reason for how he was feeling but on the other Felix didn't do anything.

"I... I don't know something just feels wrong" he said after a few moments of contemplation. " I was down having breakfast like normal... not that you know what normal is" a smirk grew on his face. "Then... Then the new kid showed up his names Felix!!" his ears turning a bright shade of red at this point. " Then I got really embarrassed cause ya know... I was just wearing underwear.... which is weird why do I care? I've never cared before? But suddenly I did then... then I started walking toward him to say hi and my knees got weak my hands started shaking my stomach felt sick and and I just don't know what happened. But then I got dressed and went back to the Rec-room and it happened again I got all sick again. Whats wrong with me? I don't know whats happening and so I thought you might know somthin."

Nate panted as if he had just spoken all those words instead of the ipad it was probably quite the amusing sight to see the young boy act as if he was out of breath for no reason. He Watched Dez Carefully as he waited for a response.

The young brown haired boy continued practicing his shot, unaware of the noise he was making, and unaware that not only was someone else outside with him, but was watching him from afar. Sometimes the pattern of clangs would change with only one of the two pucks hitting the iron. Sometimes both pucks hit the iron, and at other times, they both went right into the net. Occasionally Jack shifted his position on the court. Sometimes he would shoot from the way right of the net, other times shooting from the way left in order to practice his accuracy. This went on for several more minutes. Eventually after shooting two more pucks into the net, the boy walked over to the goal post and placed his left hand on top, leaning on the post taking a break. In his right hand he held his trusty hockey stick. He panted as he wiped some sweat off of his forehead with the back of his hand. Jack had been working up quite the sweat repeatedly shooting hockey pucks into the net. The boy didn't know how long he was out there, could have been 30 minutes, or 2 hours. He was lost in his thoughts, alone and in his happy place. For a short time, he could forget where he was and the situation he was in, he could feel like he was right back in his original home, in his driveway doing the same exact thing.

Jack knew it was still early, so he decided he'd stay out here a bit longer to let some time pass. As long as no one bothered him or talked to him, he was perfectly happy being outside practicing his shot while everyone else went off and did their own things. It was still early, but Jack thought maybe his home team was playing a hockey game he could catch on the TV later that night. He always enjoyed watching NHL games back at home whenever his favorite team played. Unfortunately the thing with living in a house with a bunch of other kids was that the use of the TV, especially for one of the younger boys like Jack, was rare. Although he had been there only a few days, he could tell certain kids had their own times for the TV, especially Asher who he observed to be particularly picky about the TV and when and who was using it.

He sighed as he felt his breathing slow a bit more as he was catching his breath. He leaned all of his body weight on the top of the goal post and with his right hand, hung his hockey stick down low at his side.
