Felix was defiantly caught off guard by the suddenly and uninvited hug, not that he resisted - Without the others here he had no instinct to just push him away either and so he let Nathan have that moment gently returning it, he didn't know why but he felt like with a hug this tender his friend needed it badly for some reason. You know to be honest Felix probably needed this as well, after all the hell the worlds felt like over the last few months.

Once Nate puled back he would see Felix's own slightly blushed expression, also pretty embarrassed by that though he didn't vocalise any complaints. He just smiled a bit watching the other boy play with the bracelet he was just gifted - Sadly Felix was pretty much broke now until social services released a little bit of money to him again from his parents accounts (assuming they can get past the lawyers) but, well he'd try and manage somehow. As his friend seemed to not have any motions for what he wanted to do next Felix looked outside for a moment considering himself - before drawing out one of his food tickets again.
"Saw some icecream place over by the like carnival game bit. Wanna grab some before it like starts getting dark?" If Felix had more money he might try winning Nate a prize on one of those carnival games, sure the bottles might be stuck down or otherwise rigged but he had a good throwing arm, Felix thought he could do it! Yet he knew he couldn't afford it, so next best plan was to simply ruin dinner with ice cream and snacks before they ere asked to meet up again.

"Yeah I guess it's just going to be the four of us." Nick smiled at the three boys in front of him. He felt a little bad about his argument with Ruka while on the ferris wheel, but luckily they should be okay and Nick would talk with him later. Asher then said he was down to do anything and Nick had to agree, "Yeah I'm down for whatever really, weve still got all day.

Casper then spoke up and asked about face painting. Nick didn't really want to get his face painted, but he would go with them to do it if they wanted. "I'm sure they have face painting around here somewhere. Not really sure if I want to get my face painted, but I'll go with you guys." Nick offered them a soft smile as he moved a strand of blonde locks out of his face.

Nathan did take note of Felix's shared embarrassment making Nathan feel a bit guilty for causing said embarrassment. Nathan perked up at the mention of ice cream a smile spread across his face. He eagerly nodded before pulling Felix out of the shop with him. As they arrive at the ice cream shop Nathan eagerly browses the menu Chocolate no cookies and cream no rocky road. Nathan cannot seem to make up his mind. He battles back and fourth for awhile before finally making a decision. He pulls out his phone typing on it before nudging Felix and showing him his phone.

"hey... can you order for me please? It's hard to order sometimes. I want a cone with rocky road...Thank you ^_^" he smiles as Felix reads it eager to get his ice cream.

Felix grinned as he saw Nathan's face light up eager and nod, practically dragging him across the pier towards their delicious destination. It only took Felix a single glance across the available flavours to pick his order; a double scoop of vanilla topped with a strawberry sauce. Maybe it wasn't the most exciting choice but he just liked plain vanilla, the other flavours were nice but sometimes he wanted it simple. While the other boy was still debating he put in his order before looking to Nate waiting expectantly, once he made up his mind nudged Felix and showed his phone Felix just let out a short laugh before taking the food ticket. and cheerfully ordering a double scoop of rocky road for his friend.

He gave a bright thank you to the man behind the counter once both orders were ready taking both and handing Nate his oversized cone. Icecream cones in hand Felix made his way outside with Nate giving room for the other customers. Once outside he pulled out his own phone with the free hand and held it up to snapped a picture of himself and Nate here. "Hey Nate, smile!" Felix said with a goofy expression sticking his tongue out to the side trying to get a bit of a crazy look for the picture.

Asher couldn't help but chuckle a little at the suggestion of face painting something he hadn't done in a long long time. However he just shrugged his shoulders "why not" he said with a smile. "I think the booth is over here" he began walking weaving through the crown leading the group to the booth. As they arrived Asher was pleased to see their was no line at the booth and two artists sitting there waiting for business. He browsed the catalog of options briefly before deciding to get a simple pride flag on his cheek.

He happily sat down telling the painter what he wanted. As the Painter began putting the design on Asher's face he couldn't help but jump a little forgetting how cold the face paint feels at first contact. After the initial shock though Asher calmed down as his cheek was adorned with a pride flag. As he finished he proudly stood up surveying the group "you two sure you don't want something" he said with a smile looking at Nick and Aaron.

Nate saw Felix about to take a picture of them he quickly crossed his eyes while taking a big lick of his ice cream moving his head in close to Felix's as he snapped the picture. As the picture appeared on Felix's phone Nathan laughed hysterically sitting down at one of the tables outside the ice cream shop. Nathan Idly ate his ice cream his gaze drifting over to Felix. A smile grew on his face as he looked at the boy.

Nathans gaze stayed solid on Felix as they sat eating their ice cream not even realizing how long he has been starring at his new friend but it is undoubtedly to long. Nathan couldn't help it tho he just kept staring. Looking at every detail his green eyes and the way they sparkled like emeralds, they way his hair sat over his ears, his button nose, his lips Nathan snapped out of it shacking his head before looking the opposite direction at the carnival games that surrounded them. wrong bad Nathan those are the kind of thoughts that get you in trouble he thought to himself still in a good mood still with a smile on his face just not wanting to mess things up.

Nathan noticed the sky beginning to turn amber meaning their time on the peer would soon be coming to an end he couldn't believe how fast the day had gone by. He didn't want it to end it had been such a good day and he wished it could last forever but he knew this wasn't an option.

Nick Kuznetsov
Nick walked over to the face painting booth with Asher, Aaron and Casper. Nick watched as Asher was the first to get his face painted. He watched the artist paint a small pride flag on the boys cheek. Nick blushed a little bit as he watched the man do it. It looked really good on Asher and just made him stand out more. Nick envied that he was so comfortable in his own skin like that.

Nick was kind of spaced out as he just stared at Asher a little bit before being brought out of his trance. "Oh um, sure I'll get one I guess." Nick sat down in the chair and decided to get the logo of his favorite soccer team on his cheek. The artist worked on it and eventually the logo of Manchester United was painted on his left cheek. The paint was a little cold at first but he decided to just go with the flow and he actually enjoyed it.

Casper broke into a grin as they set off for the painting booth, bouncing and wringing his hands the entire way. His parents never let him paint his face and Aaron never wanted to do face painting even if they weren’t there. He shot his brother an inquisitive look, but he just had the same grumpy face on as always, showing nothing to worry about for the current task, which meant Casper really could just focus on the painting itself. He dug his teeth into his lip he was so excited.

As soon as they got there, he started looking through the patterns, pulled by tons of different ones until he found the one he really wanted: A cat face. It wasn’t a very detailed cat face or anything, mostly just whiskers and a nose, but it was cute. He hadn’t expected the paint to be cold at all and went wide-eyed and stiff for a moment before relaxing again and stifling giggles.

Aaron watched as the two got their faces painted, still frowning in silence. His eyes lingered on the flag on Asher’s cheek, then purposefully drifted away from it. No, Aaron didn’t really want to get his face painted. It seemed like such a kiddy thing to do. But Nick was doing it, and Asher and Casper had done it, and really, Aaron would be the odd one out if he didn’t. He might as well… try. To fit in and stuff.

“...I’ll look at what they have,” he said, still very much frowning, but it stopped when he found a simple bee he could get painted on his face. It was stupid and he knew it was stupid, but it was cute and everyone else had gone along with what Casper had wanted for once, so why not, right? He got it painted on his face, not letting it show how much the cold and texture bothered him. He was sure he’d get used to it.

Casper hovered, watching the artist work now that he wasn’t the canvas. He turned to Asher, absolutely lit up. For the first time, he really looked at what Asher had on his face and he paused, staring for a second with a softening kind of wonderstruck look to him. Then he blushed, eyes on the ground, and said, “I like your flag.” And he really did. He really just had it painted on like it wasn’t a big deal, like he wasn’t ashamed over it or anything, and Casper’s heart fluttered with how nice that must have been.

Felix joined in the hysterical laughter at the photo making sure to save that one. Icecream in hand he sat besides his friend and quickly began to work his way through the cold treat, every lick, every taste was great - the mix of soft vanilla with the tart sharpness of the strawberry sauce it was great, nothing could ruin his favourite Icecream flavour for him, especially after a long hot day...
Strike that, strike that!

Brainfeeeze!
Ahhh, ack, help.
Felix clutched his head, teeth grinding shut tight as face contorted for a moment before letting out a bunch of broken syllables
"Ahh-ki-fr-col-ack" After a few moments of eyewatering icy-induced discomfort the pain thankfully faded as he sat there again looking bit embarrassed before digging in again at his icecream looking to Nate who had been quietly eating throughout this, and whom he had not noticed had been staring thanks to the sudden frostbite to the brain.
He watched as his friends eyes went to the carnival games and then to the sunset, frowning a little himself at the thought of the day being over but well - that was partly because he wanted the weekend to last forever, he wasn't ready for what came after.

"...Guess we'll like have to go back and meet up after we've had these huh?" Felix rhetorically asked to his friend sat across from him. "..." He paused not sure to say, a sad smile wanting the awnser to that question to be no. All the while his icecream melting a little bit and threatening to drip onto his clean shirt and jeans.

Nathan's mind had drifted into a day dream as he stared at the sunset causing him to nearly miss what Felix had said just barley catching enough to respond. " Yeah... I guess so." Nathans voice had a clear hint of sorrow as he spoke. wishing he could freeze the world around him and his friend to spend as long in this moment... in this day as they wanted.

"I mean unless we want to get in trouble anyways." He said a small smile on his face the thought of sneaking off scared him half to death but he remembered a time when Asher had snuck off with a friend after visiting the pier all the adults in a panic trying to find him as the rest of the group were led back to the house. They didn't even track Asher down until the next morning in a secluded spot on the beach. He was in so much trouble for that. Nathan couldn't for the life of him understand why Asher would do something like that get in all of that trouble just to hang out with a friend.

But in this moment Nathan thought he might just be starting to understand that crazy, stupid, irrational decision that Asher made in this moment the idea almost seem rational in Nathans mind just to spend more time here with his new friend. He was still sure he wouldn't be able to go through with it but no longer did it seem quite so crazy. Nathan smiled looking down at Felix as two small drops of ice cream fell from Felix's cone and onto his shirt. Without thinking Nathan grabbed a napkin leaning across the table and dabbed his friends shirt clean as he looked up embarrassment took his body freezing him in place realizing first that he was now face to face with Felix and second that his action to clean the ice cream up himself instead of just handing Felix a napkin was undoubtedly odd.

"That's the spirit guys... when in Rome right?" Asher said as nick and Aaron decided to partake in the admittedly slightly childish act of face painting but hey who cares it fun to do random things right? Asher watched as the Manchester United flag was painted on nicks cheek " ooo Manchester united huh? better not let Jordan know he's a Leeds fan hates Man U" He teased

"oh yeah? Thanks Casper... I like your cat face" Asher chuckled a bit thinking how oddly he just phrased that. "and Aaron nice choice simple yet distinct... it'll let everyone know that if they get to close you'll sting'em." he smiled looking around to see what else they could do knowing time was soon to run out on their pier trip. Coming up with nothing he looked to the group " well unless anyone has something quick they would like to do I suggest we start heading back to the food court we will be getting called back to head to the house soon anyways."

Just sneak off huh..? Felix would be lying if he'd never done that before, especially from his Dad. Get away do his own thing for a bit, come back some point later you know - we're be fine, we're not like little kids anymore. The thought did linger in there in his head for a bit longer than perhaps it should have after it was suggested. Felix wanted to. He was also surprised and almost impressed Nathan suggested it, with how timid he was he didn't seem like a rule breaker type. He'd love to just hang out for a while, take Nate somewhere... Not that he knew where anything was in Santa Monica.. Felix shook his head, deciding not to - The social worker's words still fresh in his head.

"Hey, hey what's that face for? We can still hang out more back at the house right, and tomorrow, if you want?" Felix replied suddenly seeing Nate's sad face, instinctively wanting his friend not to feel bad, and still at this point not having noticed the ice-cream dripping. "Could do more skating if you wanted? ...or you could show me stuff you like to do?"

He then felt the cold tinge of the iceream drip onto his shirt as he frantically started to lick the frozen treat up from his cone to stop more dripping in a slight melted panic. "Ahh, no no no." Suddenly followed by Felix pausing confused and turning a little red seeing Nate go in soo close to help and clean up the mess. "Urm.. Thanks Nate... We should proberbly get moving now though, dont wanna get in trouble on my first day." Flustered Felix got up still balancing the rapidly melting desert and hiding his red-faced expression as he ate.
He didn't know why it got him this flustered, it wouldn't normally.

Jessica, skin now slightly darker due to her day out at the beach, flopped down on a couch in Santa Monica's rec room with two cookies stolen from the kitchen in hand. Satisfied with her little adventure, she thought that if she was found out by the staff or Mr. Miles, whatever chore or loss of privilege they punished her with would be entirely worth it. Polishing off her cookie, she stood and stretched her arms before heading to Miya's room. She knocked softly on the closed door, knowing the girl was probably either lost in bookland or playing her violin. She hoped it was the latter. She always loved to hear Miya's beautiful music floating down the girls' hallway to her room. She'd befriended the 13-year-old not long after moving to the home herself and had instantly noticed the girl's musical talent and apprehension to physical touch and decided they would be close friends.
"Hey, Miya? You in there? I managed to sneak some cookies from the kitchen and I've got an extra if you want one...They seemed pretty fresh. Someone must have made them for desert after our next meal. But they probably won't notice just two missing. What do you say?"

Nathan just nodded as Felix spoke about them hanging out more he knew the end of their time at the pier didn't mean they couldn't hang out more but he still didn't want it to end. Nathan had to admit that he liked when Felix tried to cheer him up it was like he was so worried something would happen that he had to try and fix it.

"Yeah... Probably" Nathan mouthed a hint of sound escaping his lips as he reeled back trying to draw attention away from his own red face. Filled with embarrassment. Nathan walked along side Felix awkwardly as they made their way back to the food court.

Despite his desire to look at his friend or say something or do something anything to ease the odd tension between them he couldn't it was like every muscle in his body forgot how to do anything but walk. He had no clue what it was he knew he was embarrassed probably... Definitely more embarrassed than he has ever been but why? All he did was wipe the boys shirt down. Sure it was a little odd but it wasn't nearly as embarrassing as he felt at the moment. What is wrong with me? He thought quietly to himself

[As the sun began to set on this excitement filled day. Everyone had already anticipated the end of their day trip coming to an end as they began heading back to the food court The loudspeakers throughout the Pier sounded " Attention Santa Monica home. Please return to the food court it is time to leave. Again Santa Monica home. Please return to the food court it is time to leave. That means you too Asher." The male voice rang loudly throughout the park overcoming the ambient noise of games, rides, talking, and laughter. Alerting the Children that it was indeed time to leave. The same announcement being sent to Nathans phone via text.]

Miya slowly opened the door and saw Jessica. She had befriended Jessica when she first came here, it was easier to be around a girl for right now. When she opened the door, Miya was standing there violin in hand, she had just finished practicing a piece and was about to pack up. She saw Jess standing there with 2 freshly baked cookies and she had already knew she stole them.

"Jess, you know what will happen if the staff catches your right?" she said to Jessica. "But I'll have one nonetheless, let me just pack up my violin.'' she said, not being able to resist a freshly baked cookie. Once the violin was all packed up, she stepped out of her room and took a cookie from Jessica. "Wanna walk around a bit? Also, where did all the boys go, it seems less noisy."

Jessica smiled mischievously and waved away Miya's concern. "I'm sure they won't notice two cookies out of so many. Besides, it's their own fault for not protecting them better. I bet I'm not the only kid here that stole a few," she reasoned as she waited for Miya to pack up before handing her the cookie. She grinned at Miya's observation that the home had been a lot less loud and chaotic than normal and explained that they'd gone to the pier. "And it's been like an eye of a storm ever since they left. Even the staff is more relaxed but dreading their eventual return. Speaking of, they should be back in a little bit, so if we want to take advantage of the uncommon peace and quiet, we better hurry," she said as she started down the hallway towards the doors leading outside.

Miyako was following Jess while munching on the cookie. “They’re probably gonna be really tired when they get back.” She noted out loud. When she saw that Jessica was leading her to go outside she stopped at the doors and said, “We aren’t allowed to leave.” Miya was always one for rule following so she was hesitant to actually leave. She actually expected that any minute now the boys would just come running to the entrance and she didn’t want to get touched today. “We should just cook for the guys for when they get back. Or clean the mess they might’ve left.” She suggested to Jessica, but she already knew she was going to try to get her outside.

1627222028489.png Jessica laughed at Miya's speculation that the boys wold be tired when they returned. "We can always hope," she joked. In all seriousness, the boys weren't that bad. Out of all the homes she'd been to, this was the one that felt the most like what a home should feel like: like she was part of a family. A very dysfunctional, crazy family, but a family. Lost in thoughts of the worse homes she had been in before, Jess snapped back to the present at Miya's insistence that they weren't allowed to leave and her suggestion that they cook or clean. Jessica wrinkled her nose in distaste. "You sure you're only thirteen? What kid wants to clean? I mean, cooking could be fun as long as I don't accidentally set fire to anything, but cleaning? Boring. Come on, Miya. We would be gone for a few minutes at most. No one would miss us. Besides, if we get in trouble I'll say it was all my idea. They're used to my antics by now and won't think you had anything to do with it," she pleaded. "Plus, it's a perfect day to go outside. You really want to stay cooped up inside?" she asked as she opened the door just a tad to let in the warm rays of sunshine and refreshing breeze with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

"I am thirteen, I'm sure of it!" She said to Jessica. Miyako paused before she spoke again. "Where would we be going exactly? I'll be alright if it's just outside the house. But if we are going out to the beach, I won't go." She said in a firm voice, if she was caught, she would be punished regardless if Jess took the blame or not. "And don't hate on people who like cleaning, it feels like I'm the only kid here who actually helps the staff clean voluntarily. And cooking isn't that hard, I could teach you something simple." But Jessica was right, it was such a perfect day, but Miyako wasn't really allowed to leave without permission even when her parents were still here. She has also never been out around the Santa Monica area.

1627223822893.png Jessica shrugged. "Probably just outside. I've already been on a (maybe unapproved) trip to the beach. But just going outside and walking around would be better than cleaning up after the others and waiting for them to return," she said. She smiled jokingly at Miya's insistence that the staff appreciated the help cleaning. "Yeah, but I like to think that since we make the mess, there's a need for staff. So in a way, if we didn't make a mess every once in a while, they wouldn't be needed here and they'd be let go. So we're really helping them out," she reasoned with a small smile. "But maybe I'll pick up the occasional sock, just in case."
"Come on, Miya. We're kids. Feel the wind in your hair. Live a little!"

Seeing the point in Jessica's statement and plea, she decided to give in. "Fine, alright. But just outside, anywhere else, I'll go back inside." Miyako said while stepping out of the house. She covered her eyes since the sun was quite bright, most people would say she looked like a vampire coming into the sun for the first time. With her very pale skin, black dress, and ring on her finger, she fit the description without noticing. "Kore wa soredake no kachi ga arimasu. (This better be worth it.)" She said in Japanese, and she was going to await the usual, 'what did you say?' question from Jessica.

[The Group arrived back to the food court Mrs. Richardson took a quick head count before everyone began making their way back to the house. It was a nice quiet journey back to the house with a beautiful sunset view to keep you company. It was clear that the day out had at least begun to wind down the kids as they marched through the beach with little to no talking.

Meanwhile at the house the staff was busy at work preparing food for all the kids at the home. Everyone usually fended for themselves for breakfast and sometimes even lunch. However Dinner was a different story the staff always trying to make something delicious for every diet type. The house was filled with the plethora of smells as dinner neared.

It wasn't long before the group arrived home ready to eat and go about their night and prepare for tomorrow. ]

Nathan smiled as the group reached the home he thought of the day how good it was and tried to figure out what he would do for rest of the night. Then the smell of all of the delicious food hit his nose making his stomach turn a bit as he was still stuffed from the ice cream... Walking in the front door they passed Miyako and Jessica Nathan waved with a large happy silly smile stretched across his face. Nathan walked into the rec room assuming/ hoping Felix was following.

After standing there looking around wondering what to do Nathans eyes fell on the keyboard sat in the corner of the room. Slowly he made his way over nervous to play as it had been at least a year since he last did. Nathan sat down taking a few moments to warm up before beginning to play piano rendition's of popular modern songs just joyfully playing for anyone that cared to listen.

Seeing as the boys were back from their trip, Miyako decided to head back inside. "Are you coming?" She called out to Jessica. When she walked in she noticed two things, one the amazing smell of the food the staff had prepared, and two Nathaniel playing the piano. As he played, she thought he would make a partner to play with if she ever needed to play a duet. She walked over to Nathan, and she wanted to get his attention and ask if she could play with him. And yes, aside from playing the violin, she dabbles in piano every once in awhile. But she couldn't think of a way to get his attention without touching him. She decided to grab a pencil and used the rubber end to touch/poke him to get his attention. "Mind if I play with you?" she signed to him.
