Saint Teresa's Asylum for the Insane
This is the story of the St. Teresa’s Mental Home, a sanitarium in a town called Aaya. The sanitarium has been around for decades, even more than a century some say. It’s a dark and solemn place, rundown by time, corrupted by doctors, abused by orderlies, and stained with blood. Once checked-in within its walls, you have a chance of zero to none of making it out again. No one that has ever been held as a patient has ever come out, for years people have died after long lives within their cells, old age taking its toll, or been taken by the doctors never to return. But now, there’s a new type of group here, a bolder, livelier group of patients, ones not so willing to die for a cause that has had so many victims before.
This group at first, are solo artist in the story, who meet up and become something like friends as the story goes on. Some have been here for ages; others have just been admitted. It’s found that the longer you’re there, the more twisted you become.
When this group gets fed up with seeing people being used for experiments, ranging from new drugs to forced death for an internal examination of the body, they begin to plan their escape. With a place that has no doors or windows, minus the entrance, it will be a hard stunt to complete. But with each key member working together, they will find their way.
Out of all the characters that start, only three will make it out alive. This means death to the other patients, or being pushed so far, they become too lost to the world to make it out in one piece. Will your character be one of the survivors? Or will you be locked within this hell for all eternity? Your bones left to turn to dust in their cells, body raped to the point of disuse by doctors, and mind lost to insanity? The choice is in destiny’s hands, what fate will they bestow on you?
You're here because you're ill... We're going to cure you, one way or another. Headmaster
- The Basics
-
Time: Modern day
Location: Saints Day, Maine
Description of Building: Tall cylindrical form, with a one-story branch on the first floor. The entire building is made from dark stone, crumbling with collapsing roofs. Surrounding the building is a 10-foot-high barbed wire fence, running with electricity. And beyond that is a dense forest, with a single path for cars to come in and out. No one can really remember what’s beyond that, after so many drugs and so much time.
In the asylum are four main locations, the library, the cafeteria, the medical wing, and cells. There's also the Doctors Office but this will not be a common area. - The Library
- This is one of the main rooms of solitude and comfort. Most who can’t contain themselves or those who have no mind for reading will not come here, so it makes it a kind of safe haven. This room sits in the main floor, under the upstairs that lead up. The library is run by a young woman whose father is the Headmaster.
- The Cafeteria
- Very bare lunchroom, gray walls, gray floor, gray steel serving lines, and gray plastic tables. It sits to the west of the door, and is too, on the first floor. Many people spend time in here who have no idea where else to go. It’s a neutral hangout for those with no motivation to do anything else.
- The Medical Wing
- This is the five top stories. This is where the examinations, experimentation, and more goes on. Most will never see this level, lest they be drug away and forced. This is run by an orderly who was once a patient and now, after starvation, medication, and solitude, has been brainwashed into believing he’s worked for the asylum all his life.
- The Cells
- From the second story to the sixth are rows of rooms, each level containing 10 rooms. There is a patient to every room, with some having two. These cells are left open, though are closed off by jail cell like bars. The only time one is locked in their room is when an orderly wants to pick on them, or they’re out of control, and drugged up. If they’ve been causing problems, chances are they’re also in their ‘rooms’.
- The Doctors Office
- A room in the attic area of the building reserved for the main doctors’, or the Headmaster as he is called, living quarters and personal surgery room. In it is a pallet on the floor, a worktable soaked in blood, and various shelves and counters assorted with bottles, equipment, and body parts.

These are the characters that need to be filled in to start the roleplay. We can start before all are filled but it would be great if we can fill all of them before finishing Chapter One. You can also create completely original characters not on this list, these are just some barebone ideas on what might be needed to progress the story line. I'm open to ideas so feel free to shot them my way.
- The Smart One - CLOSED - Pipsqueak
- A characters who, though crazy, is smart with strategies, common sense, the ability to judge a situation and know a route, way, or solution. No necessarily book smart but smart as if happening to be able control, see, and predict what’s going to happen.
- The Techno Geek - CLOSED - Basdorcha
- A character that knows anything that needs to be known about technology, computers, data-processing systems, the who nine yards. While they may not be able to be street smart, they are definitely book smart and are able to help when presented with a technical problem.
- The Village Idiot
- This is the one definite person who dies. ((Sorry to the one who plays this, but how many times does the moron of the group get out alive? And there’s always a slow, dumb, numbskull who falls behind.)) This is the one who never had the brains to do anything and was considered mentally ill because they always seemed to be off in their own world.
- The Normal One - CLOSED - BrenzBlueBell
- With this character, you have the one who was committed with no tangible reason to be so. They sit in their cells, reading books or writing about how insane the place makes them feel, and will soon submit to it under pressure. This is the one who never gets messed with because they just don’t stand out.
- Orderlies
- These are the nurses of sorts that control the patients, drag them around, etc. Usually male, or one very big tough female. Mean as hell, kind of slow, likes to beat people, angry, and sick in the head. Most of them should be locked up in the asylum with the rest of them. Need at least one.
- The Librarian - CLOSED - Beckspace
- This is a young female that is the daughter of the Headmaster, and though she sees the corruption of the asylum, she has been taught its normal. To her anything else doesn’t make sense, though she is very kind hearted and sweet, especially with patients who seem more on the sane side.
- Cafeteria Worker
- At least one character that works cafeteria, can be a patient, orderly, etc. This is a making of your choice really.
- Head Orderly
- The man who runs the team of orderlies, a past patient who was brainwashed into believing he had worked there all his life.
- Headmaster
- The runner of the place, head doctor, demented as hell, sick, blood thirsty, and the father of the librarian. This man is one of twisted evil, had not one speck of good in him except for his daughter, and has a demented way with his patients.
