Your Guide to The Happiest Place on Earth!

In this thread you can learn all about the various landmarks and locations in Saint Lyon, the capital of Euthalia and where all activities for the Cendrillion Ball will take place. Since the majority of the RP will take place here, your character(s) will get to be very familiar with these areas.

In general, Saint Lyon was constructed around an old fortress beloved by Lyon Vangelis whom the city was posthumously named after. Waltz Castle, site of the former fort, stands at the base of the Grigori Mountains, overlooking the surrounding city. It is said that the castle is at least partially visible from every point in Saint Lyon. The rest of the locations were re-named after the various recognized forms of dance the year of the first Cendrillion Ball in celebration of the event, and, as historians claim, in honor of Lyon's great prowess as a dancer.

Castle Area

The Banquet Hall at Waltz Castle. This will be the site of banquets and dinner parties between the Representatives as well as some dance parties and demonstrations.

The Courtyard at Waltz Castle. There are all kinds of flowers to be found here, and the glass roof provides romantic mood lighting. There is also a large, elegant fountain standing as the courtyard's centerpiece.

Princess' Château. Separate living quarters located on Waltz Castle's grounds that also houses the Representatives' guest houses during the Cendrillon Ball. Although the princess has a room in Waltz Castle, her bedroom at the château is somewhere much more private and personal, although she still has plenty of servants at her disposal. The large emerald necklace that hangs on the wall...could it be of some importance?

practice_hall.png

Dance Practice Hall. This is where the famous dance instructor will help those who want to get better at dancing, or those with partners may practice in front of large mirrors. While there is space for live musical accompaniment, most use the rare and expensive water-powered music machines designed by Ramerian engineers. Anyone with access to the palace is allowed to dance here in one of the many practice rooms.

Dance Hall. A prestigious theater-in-the-round where the best musicians dream of playing, and some of the finest plays and dances are performed. During the Cendrillon Ball even commoners and the non-elite get a chance to dance upon this stage to the sound of Euthalia's most exceptional musicians during the competitions leading up the Ball's finale. Those of nobler blood may come here to practice even outside of the dance competitions, if Practice Hall is getting too crowded. The Dance Hall Orchestra has a year-round seasonal program, though tickets are said to be just as hard to acquire as chairs in the ensemble itself!

Town Area

Samba Square. The Traveling Market is held here, but even on other days the square is full of merchant booths selling all kinds of food, clothing, and merchandise as well as magical accessory shops.

Magical Accessory Shop. These refined boutiques line Samba Square and display some of the most exquisite magical accessories from across Roserasia. Anyone can buy one...as long as they can afford the price.

jivepark.png

Jive Park. A beautiful park near Samba Square; people come here to enjoy a nice stroll to the rhythm of the bubbling fountain or perhaps eat a homemade picnic. The statue in the center of the fountain belongs to the First King of Waltz Castle, when he won the partnership of his queen through a dashing joust.

During certain festivals, the park may be specially decorated.

rumbabeach.png

Rumba Beach. Along the scenic East Euthalian coastline, this beach is well-known and popular for the star-shaped flowers that grow in the sand. There is a small pier that houses a variety of ocean, fishing, and sailing merchandise as well as a launch area for sailboats and the like. To the east there is a tall stone lighthouse that has been standing since the time of the Empire, said to be one of the Great Wonders of the Ancient World. The exact dating of this lighthouse is still speculated upon, with some historians claiming it existed even before the Empire's time. Strange markings seem to line its base, and though several have tried to organize excavations to "dig out" the monument, it has been deemed too dangerous in light of its importance.

Cha-Cha-Cha Arena. A large sporting arena, it is best known for hosting the Wenceslasian Joust that is held annually to honor the First King of Euthalia. Horse races are also quite popular, and it is common for people to visit to bet on a favorite contender. The arena is open for practice most days, and also boasts fine stables where many of the Euthalian royal horses are kept.

Cendrillon Ballroom. One of the oldest and most gorgeous ballrooms in Roserasia, nowadays only one event is held here: the Cendrillon Ball. The most important event of the month-long celebration, only those personally invited by the Euthalian Court or who have won a prize at a festival dance competition are welcome to attend. People wear their best magical accessories and dance throughout the night. The partners that win the Ball are said to find happiness for the rest of their lives.

Forest Area

Foxtrot Forest. The area where many arie call their home, Foxtrot Forest is one of the largest arien communities in Euthalia. Arie live at peace here, free to practice their own customs far from human eyes. However, they hold some public festivals and concerts where they welcome outsiders to learn about and enjoy arien culture.

tangogarden.png

Tango Garden. A public garden maintained by the Euthalian Court, Tango Garden is full of lush flora from all over Roserasia. A house where the Garden Keeper resides also serves as an information booth about the plant life and a small cafe. There are a variety of gazebos with small benches and chairs under them for people to chat and relax in the picturesque atmosphere. The Flower Festival is held here.

Viennese Waltz Lake. Noted to the be the most beautiful location in the Euthalia Kingdom, "Waltz Lake," as it is often shortened to, provides a view of the mountains protecting the kingdom, as well as a small dock for those wishing to row out onto the water. Great winds are rare, leaving a glassy surface that perfectly reflects the passing clouds and blues of the sky.

Paso Doble Park. One of the most beloved landmarks in Euthalia, Paso Doble Park is maintained through the tireless dedication of many arien employees who use their magic to power the whimsical rides. The most famous attraction is the perilous roller coaster, though the line is often outrageous. For those less of thrill-seekers, there is a ferris wheel where you can enjoy a stunning view of Saint Lyon as well as a merry-go-round, among many other rides.

There are plenty of restaurants and gift shops as well. Although ticket prices are steep, during the Cendrillon Ball the Euthalian Court sponsors a "free day" where a limited number of people are allowed inside the park free of charge. At night it is entirely lit up and displays a firework show. The park is considered a technological miracle and many presume it was constructed by Euthalian engineers in response to Rameria's growing technological prowess. However, as it relies entirely on arien magic, it is not only hard to upkeep but considered a bit outdated by current standards.

Unfortunately, the park is temporarily closed for repairs. Apparently there was an incident the last week of Ulmus that scared the owners enough to shut Paso Doble's glistening gates, at least for the time being.

Princess_s_Chateau_Map.jpg

Originally built by King Sestina to house Representatives during the first Cendrillion Ball, the Princess's Château is traditionally gifted to the children or lovers of the current Euthalian monarch. The story goes that King Sestina's daughter, after spending the month in the Euthalian Suite, fell in love with the ornate little house and said she'd be happy to live there the rest of her life. King Sestina acquiesced. The northern side of the Château belongs year round to Euthalia, however, the southern section is outfitted with a series of suites that function as guest houses. While most famously used during Cendrillion, diplomats can use the Château's accommodations year round- with the proper permissions, of course. Each of the Roserasian Suites is entirely customizable to whoever is living there at any given time. It is even expected for the year's Representatives to add to or change the rooms to be more to their individual liking, with the wealthiest paying for quite lavish redecorations. Because of this collaborative tradition the suites tend to be a bit over the top, though show the individual cultures of their owners quite charmingly. Most suites are comprised of 2 bedrooms, a salon, and a bathing area, though others may have studies, practice rooms, or even indoor gardens. The Marine Suite is the least fanciful, having been left more or less in the same state due to lack of Representatives from that nation. During the year the Château is maintained by its own enclave of servants with the official "airing out" taking place over the month of Ulmus to prepare for the Ball. While Representatives have access to the main body of Waltz Castle, they have at their disposal more or less all they need during their stay at the Château.

Don't worry about the scale of the rooms too much; each of the suites can be as large or small as you'd like! The rooms which do not have a label can also be improvised by any RPer.
