-THE CITY-
March 14, 2005.
-Detroit MI, USA-
Record snowfall has enveloped the city in a white haze, burying cars, forcing together families and muffling the bustle of city life in downtown Detroit. Winds howl as they have the past few days outside of what was once St. Emiliani's Home for Delinquent Children, now a foster care facility for children with quirks. The windows on the first floor buried, and doors locked, inside is quiet and gentle with only the noises of wet snow on the roof to remind you of the passage of time. The Children are ushered into the dining hall for lunch, and it is early afternoon by any accurate clock. Orphans by fate like any other, The children are some quiet, some boisterous. This particular group of children is special, however, they are among an ever growing population of children across the globe who are being born with extraordinary powers. Some can move objects with their minds, others make themselves invisible, or produce fire from thin air. They are, however, still just children, growing, learning, unsure and stray. With the discovery of these abilities comes a question of personal worth, of identity and placement.
-THE FACILITY-
The school is equipped with standardized childcare facilities, including lodging, non-denominational faithkeepers, a cafetorium, a gym, play areas, gardens, etc. The grounds have been equipped with securities both for the defense of the children, occluding intruders that might wish them harm, and for the safety of the staff, in the event of uncontrolled quirks. Most areas feature magnetically locking doors, able to seal each section of the building independently in emergencies.
-THE PEOPLE-
The Headmistress: A stern, yet caring woman in her late 40's, she makes it no secret that shes a softie, but doesn't always know the best ways to show it.
-Quirk: Third Eye | The Headmistress can enhance her senses in stages, at the expense of energy. Does it have a limit?
-Birthday: April 4
-Height: 180.5cm
-Blood Type: A+
-Likes: Teaching, Quiet Time, Fancy Chalk
The Housekeepers: "A familiar rustling is heard around the dorm buildings, like the rustling of mice or cats in the walls, the rafters, under the floorboards; not a din, but a quiet, almost unheard ambiance. They seem to appear like clockwork, but always from just out of sight, as if from a room that isn't there, or a corridor around an impossible corner. The Housekeepers are always new, never a familiar face, but always the same caring, peaceful air, and tidy, brown uniform. They always do their business without pause, making beds, cooking meals, setting tables, and the almost miraculous cleaning, all before bustling off into the corners of vision and disappearing back into nothing with the same curious noises."
Julio Cerqueira, Phys Ed: Everyone's favorite quirk coach, and an avid practical jokester. Coach Julio can be found in the gymnasium during classes, or meandering between the staff dorms and the kitchen. At 27, the home's youngest staff member, but easily one of the most reliable, he's typically trusted with chaperoning any outings to the city. He is also a devout christian, and tends to the chapel in his free time.
-Quirk: Quirkless
-Birthday: October 30
-Height: 188cm
-Blood Type: O-
-Likes: Healthy Snacking (carrot sticks are a favorite), Fitness Enthusiasm, Prayer Time.
Brennan Mulligan, Maths: A very serious, very unfunny, very literal man. With a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, he keeps his teaching to the highest of standards, and is quite good at what he does, but often fails at the more social aspects of teaching, relying on structured, straightforward (and boring) lessons. Brennan Mulligan leads an incredibly structured life, and anyone who's payed any attention could memorize his schedule around the building pretty easily.
-Quirk: Vice Grip | Mr. Mulligan has an unstoppable grip. Independent of the strength he uses, once he grabs hold of something, he cannot be made to let go except by his own intent.
-Birthday: April 9
-Height: 178.5cm
-Blood Type: B+
-Likes: His schedule, Crisp fruit (apples, unripe pears, oranges with the peel on), Maths.
