Congratulations Hunter or Huntress!
If you are receiving this letter, then you have been accepted into the prestigious Beacon Academy, a school of higher learning for those who wish to better our world. Enclosed you will find information about your schedule and rooming. We look forward to seeing you arrive on the ships.
Yours Truly,
Headmistress Aurora

  • As a new student at the famous Beacon Academy, your job is to learn how to fight, and stay out of trouble. The problem is, one of those things will be much harder than the other.

Recently, Grimm have been acting strange-- seeming to become more self aware, they have been sneaking up on people, attacking only villages without hunter protection, and demolishing caravans with precious dust. This behavior is far from normal, but what can be done about it, except to kill Grimm as we normally do?

A new year, a new start as they say. These Grimm attacks may be scary, but the school must continue to teach it's students-- now more than ever. Attacks have been happening all over Remnant, and Beacon will certainly fall victim to one soon enough.
Will you be prepared when the time comes?

The roleplay will begin on the day of arrival, where everyone has just arrived to the school and is looking around for potential friends or foes, meeting up with friends from theie old schools, or just keeping their heads down as they make their way to the Great Hall-- the only rule today is that you have to be inside the school by nightfall for an introduction by Headmistress Aurora and the famous "first day sleepover" where everyone bunks in the cafeteria for one night before the Emerald Forest Test.

I will be posting updates and notifications of major moving points in the OOC thread, so please watch it to make sure you don't miss anything. Of course I will post in here as Headmistress Aurora when these things happen as well, so please look out for Headmistress Aurora posts, which will have all purple font, and for updates in the OOC thread, which will (from now on) have yellow font.
Thank you and have a good time!

Pazia Voshkie & Sapphire Voshkie
Mood: Excited & Nervous
Location: Landing Pad of Beacon Academy
Interacting with: No one (open)
Pazia and Sapphire had ridden in the airship to Beacon like everyone else. Pazia had stood at the window, looking out over the cityscape as they flew over it and ooh-ing and aah-ing at the first view of the school like everyone else. Sapphire had stood to the side, close enough to Pazia that she wouldn't have to talk to anyone but far enough that she could have her own space. The girls exited the airship with only their weapons, their luggage in the back of the ship with everyone else's-- it would be brought into the school separately. Paz had opted to keep her weapon on her back in it's backpack form, but Sapphire had left hers in the luggage bay with most other people's. She wanted to keep them, but wasn't confident that she'd be allowed to walk in with swords strapped to her back.
Pazia strutted off the ship, tail up, excited to see the other students. Sapphire shuffled behind her, eyes down to the ground and her ears back, scared of making enemies on the first day of school.

Beacon loomed in front of To as he stepped off the airship. He'd seen Vale as they flew over and damn, it was so much bigger than anything he was used to. His village was small, maybe a hundred people. Vale was massive, and trying to comprehend the school in person was almost giving To a headache. His trident was shortened, the staff about a third of it's length, and strapped to his back. Other people seemed to have their weapons on them too. He could see some guns, some shields, a couple of things he didn't recognise. Given how many people there were here, and how diverse they all probably were, it was no surprise that he didn't know what some of them were.

He realised he'd stopped and forced himself to keep moving, muttering an apology to the people behind him. Out where the people were dispersing a little more, he spotted a few Faunus among the crowd. There had been a few in his village, a fox girl and her parents and some monkey guy if he remembered correctly. He never really interacted with them. He pulled his gaze off them and glanced around. People were already splitting into groups to go talk together. If only To already knew anyone.

Zand slowly exited from the ship. He felt the wind in his ears and he smiled. It felt odd not seeing sand, after all, he had spent most of his life in Vacco. As he exited the ship, his guns swayed on his hips. He was a Gunslinger, and he was proud of it. He wore it as a badge of honor as he began to walk into the courtyard and soon saw two girls. One was brave, sure of herself and ready to face the world. The other looked down on the ground and looked like she wanted to curl up and die. Zand soon walk over to the two. He smiled when he saw that and said to the girl with a... Cog on her back? "The hell does she have a cog on her back for?" Zand wondered as he approached her. He soon walked to her and said "So, just a question, but why do you have a cog on your back?"

Pazia perked up as someone approached her, at first going on edge, and then relaxing as he asked about her weapon.
"Hah! Glad you asked. It's actually--" She stopped talking as she pulled her weapon off of her back and hit the button to unsheathe it. In doing so, the "cog" expanded, becoming a large cylinder, then extending a handle so that it became a large handle.
"Oathkeeper! My weapon that has never let me down and never will. I keep him with me all the time." Paz beamed, looking down at the stranger's weapon down at his own side.
"What's yours? Glad you have it on you, at least." Paz said, partially referencing her sister's decision to put hers away but mostly curious about his weapon.

Sapphire reddened at the shot fired at her, and flinched away from someone she didn't know striking up a conversation. I didn't want to put Solar and Lunarsong away, I just wanted to follow the rules... She thought, embarrassed but not saying anything out loud.

Zand smiled at the girl. She was hot and he could tell she had a taste for mechanics. Zand soon took out his pistols and said "Oh these? Dust Six-Shooters, some of the rarest guns out there,". He soon took out a small target and said "Watch this,". Soon, he hit a button on it, launching it a many meters a way. He soon activated his dead eye and every bullet hit the target mark. Zand smiled as the target game back and said "Ah, the glory of weapons! So, just wondering, but what is your name?"

Yami Flugel
Yami leaned by the window, his arms crossed as he looked out the window overlookong the scenary while the ship flew. Although he was going to the biggest Huntsmen Academy of the year, this world's impurities bothered him. It bothered him to an extent that, ironically, he's going to the place where pure and innocent men becomes impure in a span of 3 years...One that he knows they'll stop for sure. At that thought, he let out a chuckle, unfolding his hands as the ship soon landed. The Beacon courtyard was nothing spectacular to him; it's just some clean exterior to a corrupt staff...This philosophy made him the odd one out of his class at Signal, refusing to ask help not even once.

Laying those thoughts behind, Yami continued walking, heading for the Opening Ceremony hall.

Steila Teknika

Steila jolted off as soon as the ship had landed, due to her distance from the door, she had to wait a bit until she got out. In all honesty, she was excited. It was going to be her first time going to school with ACTUAL. HUMANS. A smile was engraved onto her face as she soon got out, mesmerized by the beautiful sceneary of the Beacon Courtyard. Looking around as she continued walking.

Steila knew a lot of what she's seeing, but seeing it in person is a whole other story. Like a child going to the mall for the first time, she got too distracted, causing her to bump into a young man with slightly long hair, causing her to step for a moment as she apologized. The man apologized too, yet it sounded like a mutter more than anything. It felt...Embarassing. The first human interaction after her creator and his workers are purely accidental, and the first words uttered are 'Sorry!'...Truly shameful...Perhaps Steila could make it up if she actually talked to him in person! She soon cleared her throat, preparing to introduce herself.

"Greetings, fellow student!" Steila soon greeted in a cheery tone, walking in front of the man in white as she extended her hand to him. "I am Steila Teknika, pleasure to meet you!" she introduced with a smile, hoping for the human to answer.

To had become absorbed into his own thoughts as he walked, only to be pulled out of them by a girl introducing herself to him. It was more forward than he was used to, the girl almost shouting her name at him. It took him a second to realise what was actually happening, sat which point he took her hand. He was smiling back, albeit more nervously than she was. This girl was intense.

"Uh, Tohora Kawariki. Call me To if you want." He told her, shaking her hand then letting it go. Steila Teknika. Steila Teknika. Easy enough to remember. "I'm guessing you're a new student too?" He asked. She seemed to blend in with the crowd coming off the airships, though maybe something a little off about her. Okay, that was mean. No more thinking like that.

Now that wasn't a bad feeling, now was it? That thought projected onto Steila's mind as she soon nodded in response, recording the name 'Tohora Kawariki' onto her database. Shaking the human's hand, noticing how tense he felt...Is Tohora that shy, or is she being to assertive? She couldn't tell the difference at the moment.

"Yes. In fact, it is my first time being here in Vale...It feels so much like home!" Steila nodded, letting go of Tohora's hand and placing hers behind her back, right below her massive mechanical butterfly-like wings attached on her back. "Speaking of which, where are you from? I'm generally curious since I haven't been anywhere else other than Atlas."

To tried to focus on the girl. He didn't know anyone from Atlas, so it wasn't like he could compare to anyone from there. He didn't know what people from there were usually like either. Either way, she seemed nice. Maybe making friends here wouldn't be so hard. Making some friends anyway.

"A small island off the coast of Vale. My village is called Itanui." He told her. She'd probably never heard of it. The staff he spoke to at Beacon never had. It was really just that kind of place, but To likes living there. Everyone was nice, life wasn't easy but it was fun. "There were more fish than anything."

Yín stepped off the plane and looked around her. It was very different from what she was used to, bigger, in fact. There were many people all gathering around and going into the school, many talking amongst themselves. She started to feel a bit nervous, which was a weird feeling for her, in the village they were trained to be strong. Some people around her had opted to put their weapons away, she kept hers hidden in her jacket. Yín had heard that some people named their weapons, she didn't know what to make of that.
Yín started to walk towards the school building, hoping she could meet some people as good as her friends back at her old school. She had only had a few and unfortunately they hadn't passed the test into Beacon so she was now here alone. She heard, rather than saw a girl cry out her name, she turned to look and saw said girl talking to a taller boy. They didn't seem to know each other, or anyone else here. She thought she could start there.
"Hello," she said, coming to stop a little ways in front of them, her nerves started to pick up. "My name is Yín, nice to meet you."

Cuprum Buckshot
Cuprum stood in the middle of the courtyard as students flooded around everywhere. Since he arrived without meeting any of his friends, he just stood in the middle of nowhere hoping that time would pass eventually and he'll do whatever the headmistress says. Or maybe he'll find someone to talk to. He desperately looked for his friends, but they didn't seem to be there.
"Great, just great."
He told himself.

The ram faunus sat in silence almost the entire air ship ride to Beacon, the girl being too focused on the going ons around her. The boat ride from Menagerie had been pretty mundane. She had seen boats before, but never been on one until she had to come to the main land. It was this air ship however that had her enthralled. It was so....big. Spacious. Even with all the other people in it, if she wanted to she would have no problem stretching out and taking a nap. Not that she was going to. She didn't know any of these people. She was certain that if she owned such an air ship, she and the rest of her family could live very comfortably on it.

When she wasn't in awe of the size of the air ship, Tina was busy looking out the windows at the scenery of the outside world. Her brothers and mother had all told her stories about how big the world really was, but until this point she had thought their stories to be exaggerated. As it turned out, they might have been downplaying a few details instead. Were all human cities like this? She had only ever been to Kuo Kuana before, and had always assumed that it was a good representation of how the entire world was. But this.....this monstrous city laid out before her was further proof to the fact that she didn't really know much of anything about the outside world. Not yet anyway.

Finally, the school came in to view. As the air ship approached, Tina's eyes would get bigger and bigger. THIS was a school?!? All of Menagerie could live here without being on top of one another!...Well, maybe not ALL of Menagerie, but a nice chunk of it. Tina could be heard, for the first time, muttering “Aye Chi Wa Wa” when she realized the scale of the building, her grip loosening just slightly on treasured heirloom, Colossus. She had held the shield in her arms the entire time she was on the air ship. Was it too late to decide she wasn't cut out for this after all? Yes. Yes it was.

As the air ship began to dock Tina made herself comfortable where she was, not wanting to get trampled on before even leaving the ship. This made her one of the last ones off, the ram faunus looking around at the group of gathering students. They were really packed on to the court yard. It made it feel more like Menagerie. Looking again up to the school, Tina was again overcome with that sense that she wasn't ready for this. But she had made it this far. If she turned back now, the past eight years would have been for nothing. Taking a deep breath, Tina would tell herself, and those around her, “It's no Menagerie, but it is home” at least for the next few years.

It was finally time. Tina took the first step forward towards her new home, looking around at her fellow students. First things first. She had to make friends. A school this big, surely there were a few people she could be friends with, right? Slinging Colossus over her shoulder, the faunus would take a quick look around and weigh her options. There were big groups, small groups, and people standing off by their own. Tina eventually settled on a group of three for one main reason. Two thirds of the group were female, like herself, and so Tina decided it would be easier to approach them rather than a group of men. As she approached, she realized she had to quickly think of something to say so she wasn't just walking up to them and being a creeper, something out of the corner of her eye giving her just the excuse she needed as she neared the group. “Um.....hi, hello. Are we supposed to meet out here, or do they want us meeting inside the um...school?” The last word gave off the impression she wasn't even sure if she should call this place a school or a castle.

To looked to the new girl, a little shocked at how friendly these people were. It was a little different from what he was used to, but he wasn't going to complain. He made sure none of his shock showed on his face and gave the girl a big smile, one hand moving to his back to nervously play with the end of his trident. It could be useful to make allies before they form teams. Even if they don't end up working together, having friends within the school could be useful. Score some extra homework help or something like that.

"I'm Tohora, but call me To." He told Yin. He gestured to the other girl beside him. "This is Steila." He probably should have let Steila introduce herself. She seemed like she liked meeting new people and maybe doing it for her wasn't the nicest thing. At the same time, maybe it would soften the blow of meeting her. He mentally kicked himself for thinking that. There he goes with the unkind opinions again.

Yín Sūn // 银孙

Location: Courtyard, Beacon Academy

Yín smiled politely at Tohora and Steila, turning with surprise at the new arrival. She seemed nervous and unsure, which, to be honest, was how Yín herself felt at the moment. She smiled at the new girl.
"I don't know," she said, her smile coming down a bit when the realisation hit her that she had no idea what she was doing right now, but picked back up again. "I'm Yín, I don't mean to be rude, but I'm guessing that we're all new here? What's your name?" She asked, motioning to the girl. She knew that they would be sorted for teams later, but she didn't mind. The more friends and allies she made, the more likely she was to succeed and excel in the world of Grimm hunting. She might even learn some new techniques that she could bring back to her village, making her even more impressive.

Gazing out of one of the airship's many windows, Robin smiled softly as she admired the breathtaking scenery of the city below. Sure she'd been in airships before and seen similar views, but no matter how many times she looked the youth always found herself entranced by the visual splendors flight brought. The redhead's admiration was soon interrupted however when her scroll began chiming, a picture of her mother showing up on screen before shifting to a live video feed. Immediately Robin's smile widened as she saw her parents, her mother quick to speak first as she waved animatedly. “Hey mom, dad, what’s the reason for the surprise vid call?” She asked, curious, but also all too knowing of her parents.

"Hi sweetie, your father and I just wanted to give you one more good bye before you arrive at Beacon. Oh we're so proud of you honey, we know you'll do so well and knock everything out of the park!" Ebanora’s animated and fiery personality never seemed to dim as she spoke, making a slight swinging motion with her right fist, bouncing somewhat in the couch she and her husband shared.

With a soft chuckle Robin’s father, Slater, chimed in with his usual calm and smooth tone of voice. "Know that if you ever need anything, even if it’s to just talk, we’re both always here for you.”

Robin’s smile never faded, her parent’s reassurance helping to calm her nerves even. “I know, I’m a bit nervous there’s no denying that, but I know I can do this. I have you two to thank for helping get me here.”

Robin’s mother gave a sigh, slightly wiping her eyes as she hugged her husband’s arm. “You're just as much to credit for where you've come Robin. Well we’ll let you go and stop embarrassing you, we love you honey.” The dark haired woman waved, her husband doing similarly as Robin too bade her parents one final farewell before the call ended. A small knot formed in her throat, Robin swallowing it as she came to see the grand sight of Beacon Academy come into view. With a deep breath the redhead steeled herself, the knot in her throat fading as her chest welled with warmth and her heart skipped with excitement. “Here we go Robin, the first day on the road to becoming a huntress.” She murmured to herself, softly twirling the end of her braided hair in her left hand as the ship closed in on the academy.

As the airship landed, the youths aboard disembarking, Robin took her time before eventually leaving the airship herself. Her luggage left on the airship to be offloaded, Robin’s only effects she kept was her hammer reprisal holstered against her lower back in its holster and her shield Haven retracted along her arm. Without her armor the redhead was left in her casual attire, her crimson robe flowing slightly in the faint breeze that wafted pleasingly through the area. The sight of Beacon’s grounds was just as awe inspiring as the view from the air. She’d seen and been around extravagant buildings before, but Beacon exuded an air of hope and promise that few places could emulate. Looking around it seemed what friends she’d heard that were coming to Beacon weren’t around, somewhat disheartening the redhead as she’d hoped to share this day with familiar faces. “Ah well, simply gives opportunity to meet new faces.” Robin quipped to herself, deciding to relaxedly stroll through the crowd and enjoy the moment while she looked around for interesting faces to approach.

Paz watched as the stranger pulled out his pistols, excited to see what they could do. Six shooters, huh? Not fast enough for me. Paz thought, but watched silently as he launched a target away from himself and then shot it six times, hitting the center every time.
"Wooow," Paz gushed, collapsing her weapon and putting it onto her back again, freeing her gloved hands to clap for him.
"Oh! My name is Pazia Voshkie, but most people just call me Paz. And you?" She said, extending a hand for the boy to shake.

Sapphire watched him shoot a target far away from him, cocking her head slightly. What was the purpose of that feature? To show off? Clearly he didn't need any practice.
Sapphire flinched away from the display, unimpressed. Whatever. He can shoot. You would hope so, coming to this academy. She thought, shaking her head slightly.
"I'll just..." Sapphire began, not bothering to finish her sentence as her sister was already engaged in conversation with the man. Saph scurried off, hoping to find a quiet place away from the other people.
As she walked, she mostly kept her head down. I hate people I hate people why did Paz start talking to that guy I just want to stay close to her and let her talk I hate peop--
Sapphire cut herself off as she ran straight into someone (a people!). Sapphire's ears swiveled backwards in fear, and she took a step backwards at the same time.
"I- I- I'm so sorry!" Sapphire stuttered, bringing her hands up in a sign of surrender.

Pazia noted the strength in Zand's grip with a sense of pleasure, her tail beginning to wag.
"The pleasure is mine." She replied. She looked around at the other people around her, seeing a number of them loitering around the same way that she, her sister, and Zand were. Sister... In a sudden sense of realization, Paz looked around for her suddenly absent sister. She always does this... sticking to my side all day and then sneaking off when I'm not looking! She thought angrily, but then spotted Sapphire.
The faunus was talking to another girl, perhaps making friends. She'll be fiiiiine. Paz assured herself, looking back to the man in front of her.
"Anyways Zand, where are you from?" She asked, tail wagging again as she focused on the sharpshooter.

Robin’s attention was suddenly caught by the crack of gunfire, a small group nearby apparently having a trigger happy individual. “It seems those I’ll be calling my fellow classmates don’t lack for gusto.” She quipped, chuckling to herself as she pondered just what kind of people she’d meet. The youth eventually took a seat upon the side of a large, ornate fountain to relax in the pleasant warmth of the sun as her thoughts of the future mingled her in her while she pulled out her scroll again to check for messages. The redhead had been messaging a few of her friends in an attempt to find someone she could casually enjoy the day with whom she knew, but it seemed she was having no luck in getting to any whom had graduated. “Well poo, was hoping to bump into Raven or Amethyst.” Robin remarked as she finally tucked her scroll away in her robe. Having been seated upon the side of an ornate fountain for a few minutes, the redhead eventually pushed herself to stand, deciding to try and meet some strangers and find out if any might be potential friends.

Stepping through a small group of students chatting amongst themselves, excusing herself as she brushed against a few people, Robin gasped and gave a surprised ‘oh!’ as she felt herself collide with another person, thankfully not terribly hard. Turning to see who she’d bumped into, a burst words of apology quickly filled the air from a young girl looking as if she were preparing to be arrested or yelled at. Giving a faint smile Robin held a hand up as she smiled warmly. “Oh no apologies needed, I wasn’t looking where I was going.” Robin tried to reassure the girl, giving her a glance over to ensure no harm had been done, noting the animal-like ears firmly folded back atop the girl’s head in apparent nervous surprise. “My name’s Robin, certainly a more pleasant encounter would have been preferred, but I do hope I’ve not hurt you at all from that little run in we had.” The youth’s tone was soft and reassuring, warm and welcoming as she spoke with this new individual whom she’d run into.

Both siblings stare out the large window of the airship until it landed. "Finally." Atomic mutters. Violet could only sigh and follow her impatient brother. He didn't like being cramped up in any vehicle. Once they take a step outside, the two marvel in awe over the structure of the building. "Wow this place is beautiful." Violet clasps her hand and chirps while Atomic simply nods in acknowledgement.

"At least we are out of that ship. Finally. Let's see what's around here." Atomic growls seeing lots of humans more than Faunus. "Not surprised that there are so many." "Oh stop judging brother. I hear people are much more different and accepting here so you have nothing to worry about." As Violet reassures him, a stranger passes by smiling and waving toward them. Violet waves back matching the passerbys expression. Atomic simply raises a brow. "See totally different here. Now come on let's go look around."

Atomic merely grumbles and follows like a puppy shoving his hands in his pockets.

Sapphire looked up bashfully, but saw a friendly face staring back. The girl's expression morphed from surprised to heart-warming, her features lit up with a smile that could definitely melt ice. Sapphire's face began to redden, both embarrassed over bumping into this woman and flushed over looking at such a pretty expression.
"Oh, ah, thanks." Sapphire said, struggling now more than ever to keep herself from stuttering.
Sapphire followed the woman's line of vision to the top of her head, and her face heated farther. Oh no, here it comes... She thought, steeling herself for whatever look or comment that she might receive from the other.
But... they never came. As if she didn't have the ears at all, the woman simply introduced herself and made a small joke about their bumping into each other. Caught off guard once again by the kindness of this girl- Robin- Sapphire floundered for a reply. Name. Just tell her your name. A rational part of her brain suggested, and the words tumbled out of Saph's mouth.
"SapphireVoshkie." She said too quickly, the words slurring together. Taking a small breath, she tried again: "My name is Sapphire Voshkie, it's nice to meet you. And no, I'm not hurt." She said, this time sounding much calmer. Certainly much calmer than I feel...

Zand smiled back at her. She seemed like a nice girl. Hopefully the two would end up on the same team together. He then explained to her "Oh, I'm from Vacco. See, I'm part of a group called the Gunslingers, hence my surname. You might've heard of them, but we are a group that travels through Vacco clearing out bandit camps and taking Grimm contracts. Got a few Grimm kills myself actually. So, tell me, where you from?"

The young faunus’ deepening blush combined with the still constant expression of shock and nervousness told Robin that she wasn’t all that confident when approached by or interacting with strangers. Robin could certainly understand being nervous, she herself even still having a pang of nervousness in this new area, but the girl before her seemed as if she was struggling with her fight or flight response. Thankfully as introductions were exchanged that nervousness seemed to fade somewhat, replaced with a more calm air even if Robin had to stifle a chuckle at Sapphire’s initial rapid fire speech of her name. “Well since you’ve given me your full name I’ll reciprocate in kind, my full name is Robin Sichern. It’s a pleasure to meet you Sapphire, would you like to sit down with me by that fountain?” The redhead offered, gesturing to the fountain she herself had been seated at a few minutes ago before getting up. “I’d like to get to know you Sapphire, you seem like a pleasant girl, that is if you don’t mind talking with me.” Robin extended her offer kindly, not wording it to sound as if Sapphire had an ultimatum to answer to, purely her own choice.

Soon enough, a blonde girl clad in a loosely fit outfit came along, asking where are they supposed to meet.

"To be honest, I don't really know." Steila chuckled softly, rubbing the back of her head. She soon noticed two horns poking out of the blonde's head. According to her files, she must be a Faunus. "Oh, I'm Steila! What's your name?" Steila asked in her usual volume, gleaming in excitement.
