Fandom RWBY: Sovereignty of Ages OOC and CS

Combat Rainbow
Welcome to a little RP I've had whirling around inside my head for awhile. I've participated in a few, but they died off. Well, here we are again; this time I'm starting it myself in the hopes of better luck. Because this is the OCC and I have at least two players already, the backstory of the basis for this RP will be kept short and sweet.

Those familiar with RWBY will already know the basics, but as this is an RP, we will be starting for one reason or another at Beacon and to make it clear, we will be more or less first year students or transfer students having just started (or restarted) their Huntman or Huntress career. We will be attending Beacon before RWBY, JNPR, and the others, just to not interfere with what is already canon. I would also ask that no one be related to Yang, Sun, or any other characters in the show. Semblance abilities can be similar to those in the show or original ideas.

Now, you as a student will be going on missions and such, but there will be of course some extracurricular activities that we will be sniffing out.

Now, finally, the character sheet itself will be hopefully simple enough to follow with my own down below.

Name: Zai-Zai Binx

Nickname: Zai the Cat

Age: 18

Height: 6'2"

Race: Faunas- tiger

Aura Color: Orange-y red fire with black stripes rippling through

Former school association: Haven Academy/Team CHLZ(Chills-Now defunct)

Skills: Computer know how is second nature to him, thanks in part to his semblence. His car is another matter entirely, and because of this pet project he has a general knowledge of cars and their mechanics. In both his schooling and tinkerings, he's found himself to be an adept practicioner of Dust usage.

Semblance: Technopath - has the ability mentally interact with various aspects of technology and bend it to his will. The more mechanical and/or computerized an object is, the easier it is to control. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, planes, scrolls, computers, robots, all of this and more is potentially susceptible to his semblance. As a rule in general, the more hostile or complex an object is, the longer it takes for him to bring it under his control. Distance is also crucial, as the farther away an object is, the weaker his influence on it will be.

Fighting style: He will generally resort to attempting to use his semblance first, and then on failing that, he will finally resort to his weapons, in which case all bets are off.

Weaponry/Accessories: Zai usually travels in style, with a moderately high-end two door red sports car. This dust-fueled wonder is a special project of Zai's, with many, many, many modifications to handle a variety of situations. It is capable of partial tranformation into an off-roading vehicle and completely into a submersible,, and is armed with many dust-enabled defenses, as well as a direct connection to his scroll and the wealth of information of the CCT.

Always on his person is a sword-gun, emblazoned with his emblem. This blade has a rifle embeded and is capable of selective fire- meaning he can fire single rounds, burst fire, or just spray ammo. Using his mental abilities or manually, he can switch out whatever loaded dust types he wants to use, which looks like a revolving mechanism, making the weapon look almost like an oversize revolver.

Emblem: a gear eclipsing another gear

Appearance: Zai's faunas heritage is quite obvious in his striped skin. The famous stripes of the animal adorn him, and the rest of his skin color very much so mimics the big cat, though far less furry. As a tiger faunas, he has also been blessed with intimidating inky black claws, feline ears, and a long tail. Golden eyes that seem to shimmer with an unknown spark adorn his sharply angular face. Normally, his sleekly muscled torso is adorned in a loosely fitting leather vest with a white button-up shirt tucked into a pair of black slacks with a series of studded belts ladden with dust cartridges. He keeps his bright red hair long on the top with the sides and back shaved off, and often enough just keeps it all pulled back in a ponytail. On his right ear is a small hoop earring with a minuscule red dust crystal on it.

Personality: Always talkative, always cheerful, and always thinking of the next move. He's a hyper bundle of energy and sarcastic sunshine, and always looking for the next big score or the next worthy cause, whichever way he happens to drift. Honoring the dead and fighting for the still living are very important to him, hence his behavior since the disbanding of team CHLZ.

Backstory: Growing up as a priveledged Faunas, Zai was always taught to be thankful for what he had, as many others were not so fortunate. He was also taught that helping those weaker than himself was an honor. His parents were the figureheads of a massive collection of merchants, with his mother also being a huntress of no small caliber. As such, they were able to eek out a moderate sum of money to live by comfortably and then more over time, eventually no longer even needing his mother to work. But work she did anyway in order to protect the people, not the money. At a young age, however, his mother passed in a devastating Grimm attack on Menagerie, leaving his father to raise a rebellious child. But, that generousity and willingness to help others that his mother lived by never left Zai, it being some of his most cherished memories of her wonderful heart and fostering a desire to continue his mother's work. Shortly after enrolling at the academy, he began to work as a mechanic outside of taking classes with his father funding much of Zai's education, both at the academy and his tutored passion for understanding the mechanics of vehicles, seeing as how the family made their fortune using them. Zai did quite well with Team CHLZ, up until one fateful day when pursuing some particularly nasty Grimm and the hidden secrets of Haven Academy did Zai's life truely change forever. One member did not survive the onslaught of Grimm that came at them with no warning, and another died later due to her injuries. The only other surviving member was severly disfigured. Zai has since displayed a sense of hyper-vigilance, unwilling to let that horrid night and those losses he suffered happen again to anyone else.

Here's my character app. I'm so glad to finally see a RWBY-themed rp up somewhere. I thought I'd end up just having this guy sit around and continue gather Dust. xD
Name: Carmine Awazi

Nickname: Carmine the Red

Age: 18

Height: 6'0"

Race: Faunas-cat with a tail, but he keeps it hidden under his shirt the majority of the time.

Aura Color: ???

Former school association: Sanctum Academy

Skills: Adept combatant due to extra-curricular training received at home. He took up sewing and other related hobbies to foster his connection to a mother he hasn't seen in years.

Semblance: ???

Fighting style: Emphasis on offense and evasion with a preference to parry or dodge before countering rather than blocking attacks.

Weaponry/Accessories:
Cerise Partisan: Named for Carmine's mother and his primary weapon, Cerise Partisan is the weapon he created after running away from home and starting at signal academy. An outwardly unremarkable looking cane, Cerise Partisan holds a number of secrets within its frame. The blade hidden within Cerise Partisan can be fully extended through the bottom of the cane, unsheathed from the top, and part at the middle to reveal the muzzle of a sidearm powered by a combination of aura and dust, although it can function with aura alone. The gun function can be used whilst sheathed in the shaft for long distance shots, and small dust canisters are held within the curved end of the cane.

Crimson Vine: Named for his father, Crimson Vatra. A threaded cane capable of transforming into a whip-sword hybrid weapon, Crimson Vine was Carmine's primary weapon. Crafted with the assistance of his father during his days at Sanctum Academy it now serves as little more than a reminder of what he once had, what he lost, and he only trains with Crimson Vine in solitude. Perhaps due to the painful memories it holds or its very nature, the use of Crimson Vine brings forth a more aggressive fighting style where every strike is designed to cause the maximum damage possible. Since leaving Mistral Carmine has modified Crimson Vine to be collapsible so he can keep it hidden.

Appearance: Carmine has shoulder length red hair, emerald green eyes, the lean, muscular build of a runner, fair skin, and wears a suit. The pants, shoes, and bowler hat are all black, and his shirt is white with a flame onto the left chest pocket. The flame is a luxurious shade of crimson, as is his vest, tie, the band and feather on his bowler hat, and the lining of his blazer, vest, and trench coat (all black with a flame sewn onto the breast pocket). All of his T-Shirts are emblazoned with a large flame stitched onto the back.

Personality: Carmine is kind and caring by nature, but has also grown reclusive and solitary due in part to his past. He believes in creating and nurturing strong bonds, but is quick to anger when others are being mistreated, denigrated, or subjected to racism.

Backstory: Carmine Awazi was born to Crimson Vatra and Cerise Awazi (who were human and faunus respectively), and the house he lived in was one filled with love. Carmine's father was a huntsman, and was consequently away on missions half of the time, but he always made up for it be bring back a souvenir or two along with some new stories to share. Carmine's mother wasn't just a stay at home mom either. She was a strong proponent for faunus rights and would work tirelessly to help others out of bad situations.
Carmine decided early on that he wanted to be a huntsman like his father so he could fight to protect everyone just like his parents. He applied for Sanctum Academy, created Crimson Vine with a little help from his dad, and applied himself to his studies with an unmatched zeal for those in his year. When his father was home Carmine would pester him to help with combat training, and Carmine's heritage gained from his mother allowed him to quickly create and grow adept in his own combat style as well as normal combat styles.
During the summer he would take up stitching and other craft work so he could spend more time with her by helping her make new clothing. This led to him crafting his own custom suit to both exude style and catch the attention of someone he had a crush on. Although he had mixed results at first the style and grace with which he comported himself in training quickly changed the minds of his fellow classmates.
The years Carmine spent with his family were the happiest of his life, but they were soon brought to a tragic end. His parents began growing distant from one another, the atmosphere became tense, and one night a conversation they had turned first into an argument, and then a shouting match. Carmine tried and failed to tune it out before slinking away and hiding in his room. The shouting match became a fight, and Carmine went rigid as he closed his eyes and clapped his hands over his ears.
Eventually the fight stopped and Carmine's mother came to his room to assure him that everything would be all right. Carmine put on a brave face for his mother, but when he awoke the next morning his mother was gone even though she had stayed with him until he fell asleep. Carmine couldn't focus at school that day, and when he came home he confronted his father. He wanted–no, needed to know what happened and why. His father refused to talk about it, and the more he refused the more insistent Carmine became until the argument and fight that followed became even worse than what he had heard the previous night. The fighting ended when Carmine's father slammed him into a wall as he berated him for his thoughtless provocations before sending him to his room. Carmine cried himself to sleep that night.
When Carmine awoke the next morning he found a note written to him by his father. He had been called away on a long-term mission and didn't know when he would be back, so he'd left a generous amount of Lien for Carmine so he could fend for himself for a while. Instead of going to school like normal Carmine sat alone in the living room the entire morning as he considered what to do. In the end he decided he couldn't stay. His father had raised a hand to both himself and his mother. That much was clear, as was his mother's leaving either due to fearing for her safety or because she had been thrown out. Carmine didn't know where his mother was, but he did remember her mentioning that she had parents in Vale.
Carmine packed everything he owned save for the furniture in his room, pocketed his mother's necklace along with the Lien his father had left for him, and booked passage on the first flight headed to Vale. Once there he tracked down his parents, explained his situation to them along with the need for both shelter and a way to contact his mother, and at the request of his mother (once she was reached), was given a place to stay. He immediately applied for Signal Academy where he crafted Cerise Partisan, quietly applied himself to his studies, and continued pursuing his training to attend Beacon Academy so he could become a Huntsman and keep others from suffering the same kind of sorrow he had endured.

I have no idea what to do for his aura since my original idea is already mostly covered by what you can do with aura and dust. I'll have to think it over and put it up there once I do figure it out.

On another note, what do you say to having Carmine and Zai-Zai know each other (or at least be aware of one another) since they both attended Sanctum Academy?
I swear I'm not trying to foist my character into your character's backstory. I actually had this guy put together for a long time now but didn't have a place to use him. lol

If you are still accepting people I would love to join I have a bunch of RWBY ocs that I wouldn't mind doing or I could even make a new one to fit the dynamic c:

Well holy crap. xD Hopefully you get to use one of them soon. In the meantime, mind helping me brainstorm up a semblance for Carmine?

Maybe something cool to do with his sewing maybe he can make people or grim like maybe he can make disguises or plushie grim that fight for him?

Perhaps sewing is his hobby because of his semblance being the ability to mentally manipulate fabrics?

And to make it balanced, only unattended fabrics. He being unable to control clothes people are wearing because of their aura interfering.

I'm in love with the plushie grim.

And yes, we are accepting still. If need be I can make extra toons for a second team.

Idk if this will be to op but there's a character in League named Annie and she can send out a bear named Tibbers which helps her fight and has his own health and maybe his semblance can be something like that?

I would say honestly stick to a few plushies or helping deflect pot shots. He likes sewing, and semblances are a part of the personality.

However it is ultimately up to him.

But I can imagine him having a scarf that he suddenly weilds like a whip with devastating consequences. Like R.O.D. but fabric instead of paper XD

Hi, I’m one of the players inufandom mentioned I just haven’t put my CS up quite yet I don’t see a problem with us knowing each other but he and I already have a plan for our characters, and we are the only 2 surviving members of team CHLZ, and in your backstory it says you went to signal then to beacon while Zai and Lancelot went to haven first, did he grow up in menagerie too?

CS.

Name. Lancelot Bronzwick

Nickname. N/A atm

Age. 18

Height. 6’0

Race. Faunus-wolverine

Aura color. Rusty Orange

Former School Association. Haven Acedmy/ Team CHLZ(Chills-Now defunct)

Skills. Hand to hand combat, close range specialist, Basic prosthetic maintenance

Semblance. Inhuman healing factor also able to share ability by touch

Fighting style. Up front and personal with adversaries in a heartbeat, usually relies on team to provide cover fire and whatever Zai is doing

Weapons/Accessories. In his possession is the BoomStick, the BoomStick is a rocket propelled axe that can also double as a sledgehammer, it’s also a dust enabled grenade launcher.

He has a full prosthetic right arm as well as a partial prosthetic left arm, the arms are capable of storing dust cartridges as well as using any that is loaded into them, having lost his natural claws he originally fought with he has altered the new limbs to be more suitable in his opinion, blades now protrude from his knuckles at his will

Rather tight fitting light armor that is almost entirely black but has some hints of orange running through it, the helmet has some upgrades to allow me access to my scroll.

a Solid black motorcycle with orange streaks running throughout the paint

Emblem. A golden triple triangle symbolizing Power, Wisdom, Courage, and as a whole, Unity

Appearance. Black hair with blonde highlights, he has black markings on his face like his namesake creature, the wolverine. He usually wears a black leather jacket with his emblem on the back, a black T-shirt with a golden triangle with the word power in the center, blue jeans and black sneakers, and a set of black gloves. He’s quite muscular given his size

Personality. Rough and tumble but usually good natured, has a temper but rarely displays it

Backstory. Growing up in menagerie Lancelot couldn’t help but meet Zai a few dozen times, and while they were friendly they didn’t grow close till many years later when they were teenagers, and through them mutually winding up at haven and then coincidentally winding up on the same team.

In their many adventures and exploits their team found dirt in all sorts of places and strangely found these trails led to haven sometimes, it was only after the incident that left two of their teammates dead that they learned they were set up because they were too talented and needed to be dealt with to avoid becoming a problem in the future. But by who, they never found out. Living on in their teammates’ legacy, they flipped their fingers proverbially at their trappers again to pursue careers as hunter’s, partially to attract their attention, and partially live the lives their teammates could not in honor of them.

So far, so good, people. This is looking interesting. Looks like the mystery of team names will come up lol

Ok I think I have a faint idea of what I want to do for my oc can I run it by you? feel free to give me criticism.

Holy crap things got super active during the early morning hours? o_o I hope this doesn't become a regular thing. I tend to be asleep by no later than midnight most nights.

As to the semblance idea...well, I can kind of see it? I did have an idea for something similar once, but it doesn't really feel right for this character. I do plan on him using dust-weaving though.

My original idea for the guy was an aura-based telekinesis where he imbues something with his aura and then can move it around freely, but that caused a lot of trouble when I tried using it before, so I'm hesitant to do so. Plus we have a technopath/technokinetic, so it would feel a bit redundant. lol

Another semblance idea I had would be kind of a blinking ability where he moves with great speed over short distances to the point where it seems he's teleporting from one spot to another, but that could easily be overpowered, so again, I'm a bit hesitant with it, although I feel like it would make the most sense given his combat style and faunus heritage.

Oh, I thought maybe Zai was also from Mistral, or at least would have gone to Sanctum Academy before going to Haven Academy. If not then I guess they wouldn't have met before, but if so then Carmine went to Sanctum for his first one or two years before running away from home and finishing up at Signal. Then again, I could see Carmine's mother running away to Menagerie after things fell apart at home, so we could do something with that if Inufandom wanted.
