Inside the luscious green forests, tall trees roofing overhead, steady bushes, and paths paved by previous feet that walked. A lone young girl remains wary of her environment, it was nearly dead silent. Apart from the occasional gunfire from the distance which did not help her ease. She could barely hear the sound of even the smallest of forest insects.

"No Grimm... So far."

She told to herself, sweeping and pointing her lit gun in front, covering almost all angles face on. Anything can be hiding from the bushes, treetops, and even plain sight if she fails to be aware. She already took 2 turns left and a right turn just moments ago. Each turn emerged with a swift entry to catch any Grimm quickly. It was getting lonely in this labyrinth of nature, anxiety only grew with a thought.

"Has somebody been here? No, if they were they would be close, these are long paths. Trees here are too close to each other. I wonder if someone tried to pierce through the trees just to find those Totems faster? I haven't found Grimm decaying around either."

Begging to notice the tree branches hanging overhead, letting little rays of sunlight blind her through her glasses. Looking backward behind her she thought of marking her tracks to prevent entering the same path twice. Looking around again she tried to look for something to use to mark her current location. She found three rocks on the ground, noticeable on the ground since it is on the pathway itself. Trying to pick up a stone, at first she thought the stone was just stuck deeply into the ground but now with both hands trying to pry it out. It's like it's cemented into the ground completely. Giving up to pick up the stones, she stood back up and only notice that from her angle it looks like an obtuse triangle if connected together. Tracing the shape of a triangle with her quarterstaff.

"I can see why Felicia uses a short sword back in Signal... *Sigh*"

Finishing with a double stamp of her quarterstaff's tip which has a hex bolt screw-like design with a line in the middle. Creating an X mark that the eye could easily catch. It was just a small mark but at least it can be something that counts as a mark. Unfortunately, this mark is something she would never see again as the rotation of the forest maze shifts again minutes after she took a left turn ahead. She felt like she was at least steps closer to one of the totems. There was now a difference in brightness around her, it was slightly shiny from the leaking sunlight from above the branches. Whilst checking her phone, perhaps checking for locations of the totem. She immediately points her pistol at a nearby shrub that rustled. A sense of dread flows in her blood.

"H-hello? Anyone there?"

Asking whoever is hiding the bush to come out, the answer came to her instantaneously. A dark motion blur bursts out of the bushes with its eyes red with malice. Despite the speed of this thing, Nula instantly knew what she is up against. With an upward sweep of her free hand. A thin black hole rips in front of her, shielding against the fast-paced attacker just in time. The thin gaseous hole swallows them and came out just 10 feet away from Nula, its face smashed against a tree trunk at its own speed. With a quick follow-up, a gun pointed towards her attacker, there was no mistaking it. For a brief moment, she identified them. It's the Creatures of Grimm, vicious creatures that roam Remnant, the very foe all students of Beacon have to face eventually. One almost took a nice chunk of her face. Beowolf-Lower class variety.

Just as when she was about to pull the trigger towards the Beowolf. Ambush from behind from another Beowolf, pouncing to chomp off a shoulder. She failed to take at least a wounding shot to the first one. Rolling out of the way with a dive first to the side. The Beowolf completely missed her by a few inches. She feels more alert now.

"T-two Beowolves!? I have to finish this quickly! Before I become lunch!"

She is lucky to dodge the second one. The ambushing Beowolf jolts its head back to its armed prey, angered by their slip up. Began charging at her at all fours. Sending Nula to take back a few steps backward. It's way too aggressive to aim for its head. Too late now it already closed its distance. Swiping its razor-sharp claws to the left which she dodged to the left. It followed up then with a bite attack, catching Nula's pistol in its teeth. In a panic, she lets go of her weapon.

"Eat this instead!"

She cried out drawing her yellow-blue quarterstaff, split in two currently, a combat baton at this state. The beast roars at her which effectively made her slightly nervous but with a fighting spirit, she jammed one of her batons towards the Grimm's throat the moment it tries to bite her again. A successful attempt as the Beowolf is now choking at the baton-quarterstaff piece as it tried to harm Nula. Now trying to vomit out the baton, while trying to get a lucky swipe towards the girl who was passing by them quickly to retrieve her gun back. Shooting back at the Beowolf. Shooting him only twice one from the lower left rib and one at the throat. It dropped dead on the ground with her Baton still on its throat. The Beowolf she warped earlier came back to its senses and now roaring back at her. She looked back to the previously eliminated Grimm on the ground and looked back to the Beowolf.

"You-- You want t-to end up like your friend here!?"

The Grimm not capable of understanding the concept of verbal intimidation, answered back to the only thing it know how to do, attack. Now rushing down her. A volley of plasma orbs shot back to the Beowolf. Some rounds missed the creature but most of it landed against it, each shot slowing it down until it laid dead on her very footing. She looked back to her gun, checking the ammo. A lit meter bar on her magazine now indicating low ammo.

"Two shots left. I think... I... Gotta bit... Noisy. This one goes out for you, Auntie."

Trying to catch her breath from the sudden ambush. Just as soon as she mentions noise. She could hear howling from a distance, multiple in fact. Must be more Grimm coming this way. No point in staying any longer, she needs to go now. Picking up her weapons back, she heads down the path ahead of her, a rather long path at that. Before she could go any further, she looked back at the scene which had 3 or more Beowolves sniffing around before all of them looked in her direction which where she was no longer there and took a turn on the nearby turn on the left side.

Several moments later...
"Four Totems in the dark tunnel... Waterfall... Hmm. Looks like this could be..."

Looking back into her scroll again. To check her objectives, mumbling quietly to herself. Visible frustrated as she feels like she's been walking and avoiding danger all day. She is noticing the difference in her area around her. It's nothing like before.

"Aww... Feels like I'm going around nowhe--"

Her groans ceased at the sudden glimpse of something in her eye. Something that's moving in the trees. Drawing out her gun in her hands, keeping it on the down for now. She is not foolish enough. To call out anyone again. It was in between the trees, it was unusually sunny in her view angle, she could only see movement in the tree shadows. Now losing track of looking for the totem. She silently followed the shadows animating from the sunlight to the trees.

At some point she could have sworn she saw a figure, not that of a Grimm, it was more familiar. Silently keeping her distance and out of sight, creeping from tree to tree. She can't see them, they can see her until she spots the figure a bit more clearly. Blonde hair shone through, almost glistening in the light.

"Was that...?"

Keeping her gun and head low, moving silent across the woods and rocks, up and low. Despite her sneaky approach, it seems she never gets any closer to them. Until she saw them clear from an upper hill. It was a girl. Almost ethereal in beauty. Her eyes widened from her appearance and the weapon she wields. As she stalked her a little more trying to go downhill for closer observation. An exposed root from a nearby tree on her left blew her cover. A sound of a twig snap and a girl's grunts tumbling down a hill is heard. Bushes, leaves, and dust move out of the way of the rolling girl. Rolling her to the student huntress before her.

"Huh! I-- Uhhhh... I-i ugh. I didn't, I was just... I didn't mean to!"

"I'm Just uhh... Looking for a totem!"

She raised her hands up with her pistol still holding onto her left hand. She appears to be sweating as if the one before her is worse than any Grimm that lurks in the forest. She remained seated on the dirt road.

21cdfa8d08e4ee2031412db942e712cc.jpg For nearly an hour, Atomic had searched for the damn. totem. There several trees and quite difficult to reach without some sort of jumping semblance. He was a wolf for crying out loud. It was difficult enough to be able climb a tree that is almost completely bare from the beginning was like challenging to break a wall with bare hands. His hands shake with an aching pain. Blisters and splinters caught deep within his skin after nearly falling. His arms sore from all the pull ups, but he couldn't quit. He was so close or rather doomed himself by thinking the trees would be easy. Oh how wrong he was. He no longer cared about his style as so called "ninja" as he was too preoccupied with getting the exam over with. Thus far he felt humiliated in his ability to navigate through the forest. It would have been a lot easier if it was real. Everything smelled the same with no distinguishing characteristics.

As the Faunus climbs his way to the top, he nearly falls at the sound of someone's holler. His grip slips causing him to back track. Luckily he clings to the closest branch before falling to his death. He lets out a sharp sigh then scowls at the one responsible for breaking his concentration. A Faunus rabbit based on their scent and long, straight ears. "YOU ALMOST KILLED ME, YOU BRAT!" He takes a deep breath in attempt to calm himself. His arms are beginning to sting from the hectic tug of clinging onto the branch earlier.

'Come on, damn it! You're on the verge of finding that totem.' He told himself. He groans over the distance from the hallow of the trunk. "And no, the only thing interesting is finding a lousy totem." He grumbled back as he proceeded to climb to the top. Once he does, he reaches inside for anything; and to his surprised finds a totem attached with another. "Huh, two? I should put this back and-" He cuts himself off hearing a howl in the distance. When he looks down, he sees a bunch of Beowolfs stalking the rabbit. Atomic was about to call out when he heard a snarl from his other side. What he encounters is a Beowolf being slung at him. Atomic's reflex kick in throwing himself off the branch landing on another causing one of the totems attached to his to fall and land beside the rabbit's feet. Had he waited longer, he would end up snapped like a twig just as the branch did. "What the hell?" He croaked over the abnormal action. An Alpha Beowolf was among them with purple crystals that seem to look like dots. "This guy looks totally different. Is this some sort of trick by the principal?"

Atomic refused to analyze any longer even though his body sensed a deep disturbance from the alpha. The situation itself was a disaster. No longer willing to hold back, he tucks his totem away and pulls out his gauntlets. The gears turn then lock with a 'click' sound indicating the chamber has chosen a random element which is fire. He jumps down using his gauntlets as a boost to save the newcomer from a surprise attack from behind. His fist meets a beowolf's head causing the creature to crack and scatter it's body into ashes. The brute stumbles on his landing having approached at a heavy pace. Now he wasn't one to save people out of the goodness of his heart, but he wasn't also one to stand around and let someone get killed either. He stands his ground ready to fight through the horde of Grimm until said 'escort' arrives to the exit.

Lapis got bored fast waiting fie the girl to speak "I'll just do it myself" she sighed rolling her resume though due to their look it was hard to tell.

Lapis would head into the meadow looking fir it and in truth finding it easy enough. It was not exactly hidden and Lapis didn't exactly see what tge challange was here. Though as she came closer a pair if death stalkers burst from the ground. Now this might be fun lapis let her threads grow a smile firming as she thought of home. Where she grew up such grimm were used by kids to play with. She remembered testing their claws off and waiting till the last moment to dodge the stinger. Here kids sat and played with lights never knowing how fun it was to be do close to death and winning.

That had of course been when she was a child and now she was grown so games would have to wait. "Still just child's play" lapis chuckled and as one alashef out with a claw she whipped a thread up making it razor shard and as the claw passed by it tge claw split cleanly in two. Then while still moving her up she curved the way her arm went making a circular motion bringing the thread up and slashing a tail off.

The other deathstalker did not wait and a second before what would have been a deadly impact lapis dodged jumping back only a little. The deathstalker didn't hesitate and quickly. Slashed at lapis with his claws making her jump back sevral times. Then she stood still the grimm charming her only to find itself trapped. Lapis had used her lowest most hands to lay a trail od sticky thread it had now been caught by. Raising her middle hand lapis raised and brought down more razor wires cutting the grimms head cutting its body in three before to crumbled and disintegrated.

The deathstslker with one claw left seemed to know it was out matched yet charged lapis with a flick of her wrist a thread impaled it and it too was slain.

Lapis with her foes dead walked to the totem and picked it up "I wonder how this was meant for a team" she shrugged and with the test done she tried to remember the way out then shrugged again picked a way snd started walking.

Xander swung through the trees mostly unhindered except for the occasional grimm which he easily batted away with enough force to make them dissipate. He didn't know the size of the things they were looking for but assumed that it wouldn't be something tiny that you would have a hard time seeing except from the ground, however before he could ponder this much more he noticed someone blasting his direction, quite literally. He decided it best to drop down to the ground to make it easier to converse with the other person, assuming they came to talk to him as they seemed to follow him as he had been moving.

As they approached, Xander heard them more than he saw them with what seemed to be clacking of tools and items. First thing he noticed of his newfound companion was that, he reeked akin to an engineer straight out of a factory in Atlas smelling of, grease, metal, vile synthetic chemicals, and an awful smell of something that burnt his nose and smelt like acid and gunpowder but not quite... regardless the stranger's scent was unpleasant to him, still he wasn't going to judge him solely off that, cows smelled unpleasant but were very useful and gentle creatures. Having taken in the scent of technology he was un-surprised to see that he was laden with the look of a city dweller or technician, scruffy clothes, pouches of tools, and a large gun.

However the way he talked was in such a rural manner Xander was somewhat caught off guard, while where he was from didn't use the same slang they had their own way of talking in his hometown. "Alright." He responded as he nodded to Tanner, they seemed alright so far, though he was somewhat perplexed by the strange mix of rural and urban found in the boy. Dmitri Tolenka Dmitri Tolenka
Tanner nodded, then ducked. Over his head, two jaws of a beowulf snapped together. He rammed an anchor up the beast’s jaw, then dashed forward. Past his new friend, who now could see the horde on his tail.

Hey, he did say alright!

This was fine, Tanner hoped. First things first. Ammunition. He picked a nice open spot on the ground and slammed his palm down. The soil rippled, and slowly, as if it floated to the surface of a thick sauce, a green box emerged. Tanner’s eyes went wide and he perked up. Even as his right hand kept a tight grip on the box, he gripped an anchor tight in his left hand. Something tried to sneak through the underbrush, trying to flank them. The other boy got to the beowulf before the monster got to Tanner.

The sailor nodded in thanks, that came close.

Tanner finally pulled the box clear. He swung it round in a wide arc, slammed it into the knee of another wulf, and leapt up again. The youth did not leap straight up but off to one side, headed for a tree trunk. Kicking off the not quite wood, he slammed the green box down on the ground to arrest his momentum. The unpredictable movement was enough to throw off any grimm chasing him for the most part. Tanner placed his trust and his life in the hands of the stranger he just met, the other guy could deal with the rest.

One practised flick of the wrist later, and two anchors flew out trailed by a rope. The very end of said rope Tanner tied around his waist, while the anchors wrapped around sturdy branches. He shouldered Skôane, kicked open the bipod of the monstrous gun, and slammed it into the ground. A thick brass chain of bullets pulled out of the box was fed into the weapon. With an almost underwhelming, polite little clink, the first bullet slid into Skôane’s firing chamber. Tanner grinned with a childish, giddy glee normally reserved for kids that received the big christmas present, or electric guitarists that got permission to turn the volume all the way up.

He flicked the safety to full auto.

“AYO~! DUCK!” Tanner shouted, and unleashed hell.

The fusillade scythed through the grimm horde, the heavy calibre just gross overkill for the majority. Each shot tore basketball sized holes in whatever it hit, and kept going with enough force to shred the not quite wood used to build the arena behind the initial target. His hearing, aura reinforced as it is, lasted a good two seconds before Tanner just went plain deaf. He methodically worked from left to right, until everything in front of his position was utterly vaporised. The barrel glowed a deep cherry red by the time he let off the trigger.

Satisfied, he forced some aura into his ears and with a pop, his hearing restored itself. Tanner looked around to flash a thumbs up to his ally, only to realise somewhat belatedly he missed one grimm.

By the Sun.

That was a big Ursa.

Buc Irons
Though not the largest of the student body, Buc none the less was slow to start off into the maze, trundling into the maze that awaited him. He wasn't particularly good at mazes, but neither was he bad at them. See, he had a system, right was always right, after all, so you always go right. And even if that right led to a dead end, you turned around and went back to where you had turned right last, and turn right down what had been left, but was now right. It seemed complicated, but that's only if you thought to hard about it. Something Buc hadn't exactly been known for back home. Which was okay in his book, he had made it to where he wanted to get to, after all. And that was good enough for him.

He saw which way most of the other students went, then decided to go the other way. If he got to one of the locations of the totems and it was empty, he'd have to hoof it over to the next one, then the next one, and so on until he managed to find one. Frankly, that did not sound to appealing to him. So, if he went where there wasn't a lot of students, his logic stood to reason that he'd have a better chance of finding a totem. Simple, really, and he did simple best. So off he loped to find one of these mysterious totems that would decide what team he was on. Probably.

In the forest labyrinth a pink haired girl could be seen falling from the air. Below her was a pack of snarling creatures, shadow shaped like werewolves. They were waiting for the fall of the prey, readying their claws to rip the girl apart after she had came down.

The girl went by Violeta, she had entered to train in Beacon academy for her own reasons, but had gotten surrounded by Beowolves and to escape, she used her semblance to launch herself into the air and was now plummeting back down into the claws of the savage creatures. In the face of such peril... Violeta simply grinned, she was exactly where she needed to be.

Violeta took out a small canister small enough to hide in her hand and a pink sphere surrounded the cylinder, which threw at the crowd below her with a spin, using the same motion, she drew her revolver and fired a blue shot at the bubble.

When the shot hit bubble, the blue blast split into multiple, showering the pack like rain and like rain it only left them drenched and like rain, it would be followed with thunder. Violeta made a crushing motion with her free hand, the canister within the pink bubble followed her motion, crumbling like a tin can in deep ocean, revealing it’s yellow interior.

Arcs of lighting erupted from the now crushed cylinder, jumping off each monster wolf and creating chains of yellow electricity as each and everyone of them as they were all soaked to the bone... if grim even had bones. The pack quickly dispersed into black smoke as Violeta landed, creating another pink sphere at her feet to slow her fall.

Brushing herself off, the girl went ahead... and suddenly drew her other revolver and fired over her shoulder, quite literally freezing a Beowulf that wasn’t quite finished off by her earlier plan. With a twirl, Violeta once again activated her semblance, Providence and created a vector field around her leg, before shattering the Grimicle with a enhanced spinning round house kick.

Right back to what I was doing before that. Violeta decided to move on before she was bothered by any other Grimm. Right this way should be the way forward. Violeta noted as she came to a split on the labyrinth, but how did she know for sure? That was simple, she had simply “acquired” the layout and memorized it beforehand, something that she made sure that no one else would know. After that, it was using her entry point and the compass on her watch as a reference.

Was it cheating? Probably, but she somehow had a feeling she wasn’t actually going to be penalized for it. After all, information was half the battle and this went double when your life was on the line, so doing a little ‘information gathering’ should be more than acceptable, at least in theory. Well either way she still purposely took some occasional wrong turns to make it seem as if she didn’t have the information beforehand.

With that advantage, Violeta took a rather quick, but not too quick path to her target destination, the waterfall, after all it was the easiest of the target areas to locate, since it was a waterfall and she could follow the sound of the flow of water when she got close.

"Appreciated."

There was an absolutely delighted shriek of happiness off-screen, and Noir's scowl became more angry than annoyed, "Do you think Maven could convince someone to jump off a cliff?"

Ichor blinked a bit flabbergasted, she tilted the screen a bit as to get a better look at her friends face, "...I'm sorry, could you repeat that?"

"Maven? Your older brother? The bane of Lucien Serif's existence? Head of the student based Atlas Gamblers Anonymous? Wantanabe Yuu-"

"Excuse me, miss, I hate to interrupt your conversation with your... boyfriend here. But could you perhaps keep a poor boy company?" A voice commented.

Now, Ichor liked to think of herself as a relatively reasonable person. Truly, she did, social anxiety and such aside, but flirting?

There was a sharp hiss from her scroll, "I am going to rend your flesh from bone, shove it down your throat, and watch you scream for your mother you pie-"

Turning her Scroll off within the next second, Ichor forced a small smile, shoved the device in her coat pocket, scrambled to her feet, gave a small wave, and promptly ran in the opposite direction.

"Sorry about him!"
_________________
The impromptu exercise had led her to the cafeteria proper, not that this was a bad thing, all things considered, Ichor thought it a saving grace, food was a comfort more often than not, even if the fist fight with Maven over the last winter holiday had, more or less, caused her to be more than a little weary over things such as turkey and roasted ham...

But, nonetheless, her stint in the Mantle Juvenile Hall had been short-lived, Maven had gone back to Atlas Academy with only a broken arm, Professor Sharde didn't ask questions about the black eye, and Misses Gardens had, eventually, forgiven her after a lengthy pleading and twenty pies.

Keeping back a sigh from escaping her lips, Ichor leaned against the nearest wall.

And promptly began banging her head against it after a quiet scream.

This... fine pass time was soon interrupted however, by the speakers blaring to life not twelve minutes afterward.

Attention! All freshman students please report to the entrance hall where you will be escorted by your principal to the training hall and begin your Entrance Exams.

Ichor quietly gathered herself, a slow process, tallied her bullets, the six collapsible arrows she had on hand, and tried not to despair at her quiver and dust rounds being in her suitcase, and this unreachable before initiation proper.

"You were accepted," she whispered to herself as she made her way forward towards the entrance hall, "you were accepted, you can do this. You can do this. And even if you can't, you can always apply to another school next year, you've five years before they consider you absolutely hopeless Ichor, you can fucking do this."
__________________
Ichor had, ultimately, sequestered herself in a corner in the entrance hall, her earlier petals seemingly falling apart around her ears.

The child that had stepped onto stage was... A bit jarring, Ichor had seen young recruits, as Atlas had little in the way of truly separating it's Huntsman from their military, (they let Maven have a Mechashift weapon for petesake! Solfrid was her baby yes, but you still needed legal license to carry it! AND THEY GAVE IT TO MAVEN!), but an actual child had never really crossed her gaze.

She wasn't alone on such thoughts either, from the way several people nearby seemed especially confused at his appearance, but in the blink of an eye, all questions become answered as soon as the boy sized himself up into an adult form. He spinned his staff and posed as though he had performed a magic trick that awed the crowd into an applause. "Thank you." He bowed gratefully. "Welcome children, to Beacon Academy and to Vale for those of you that are here abroad. I am the headmaster, Blanche Vos and this is our mascot, Snow the tiger. Fear not, she is friendly." He strokes the animal's head earning a purr of approval. "It's a pleasure to see a magnificent set of ladies and gentlemen eager to excel into be extraordinary Huntsmen. Today you will start with your entrance exams. Now I know that may sound unsettling, I assure you that everyone is accepted. The exam is to test your skills on the field and decide whom you'll pair as a group for the remainder of your life. Whoever you choose to stick with may or may not be your partner of my choosing." He discerned.

Oh, right, partners. Teams. The staple of any Huntsman that didn't want to die immediately on the field, and alone at that.

Ichor... Didn't really know what to feel about team's, to be honest. Atlas had an interchanging Team roster, one year the average team would be made of of four, the next would be six, and Maven's year had simply been partner pairs, (Ichor was actually kind of glad for that, Lucien and Saffron visited enough for her to think they were a fourman team, but if Maven had actually been on charge of three other strangers? Eh... Her brother probably would've died).

So, yeah... Teams. Shelter covered the basic teamwork aspect... but, Ichor had stuck pretty close to Cyan and Noir throughout it all, so she probably would crash and burn with this.

It wasn't the end of the world, though, a stubborn voice in the back of her head interjected, she was accepted, even if she was booted out, she still had options, Shade accepted single transfers, and Atlas gave you till your twentieth to be accepted into the school proper.

Once everything had been said, Ichor quietly dropped what little of her belongings she had on her, her coat and scroll went first, and what little lien and other little odds and ends she had on her went after.

Helios was strapped tightly to her back, the heavy duty magnet sewn into her shirt still doing it's job.

And then... It was into the Abyss.
-----------------
The first ten minutes inside the maze were marked by loud noise, screaming, and curses directed at the Gods as Ichor tried, failed, and tried again to scale a tree for a better look at her surroundings.

People barreled past with wild abandon, others easily made their way upwards, and a few even went underground, (Ichor had no idea who that pinkette with the maid uniform was, but she was definitely going places with that semblance of hers, she was like a living drill), until, finally she decided to Helios as a way to go up.

Planting one axehead into the bark of the tree at a time, Ichor slowly, but surely made her way upwards, until she finally found purchase on a large limb that she could stand on.

"I can do this, I can do this," she mumbled to herself as she took in her surroundings, "at least you aren't stranded in a tundra for a week, or dropped from a bullhead in a jungle, your good! Perfect even!"

Right, caves, several dozen meters ahead, that was a good place to start, right?

She took a moment to center herself, and then took to running through the trees.
__________
Two and a half hours later, and still no totem, but covered in mud and blood, and some odd sludge, and Ichor was still traversing the caverns.

"Exactly how thorough was Vos when he created this? I swear, I've made it six miles at this point." She hissed to herself, irritation winning out over nervousness at this point.

The cavern had largely narrowed out, and Ichor had to move at an angle just to move even a margin, Helios had been separated at this point, one axe in each of her hands as she moved.

It was hard, she had been going at this for nearly ten minutes at this point, so when it finally began to flare out again the sigh of relief that left her was almost deafening.

When it led out into a rounded cavern, she repessed the urge to squeal.

And when she caught sight of the innocent little trinket on the ground? That squeal could probably shatter glass.

Rushing forward Ichor scooped the thing up, and did a small dance.

"I made it!"

To say she screamed when she came face to face with the giant Taijutu would be an understatement.

"Oh, motherfucker, why did it have to be snakes!?!"

The girl she was creepily stalking was quick on her feet, it's like she instantly appeared in front of her. Her weapon was only an inch close to her head, it was a large pair of scissor-like weapons. A brutal weapon to take Grimm out with. Luckily, the blonde girl stopped on time. Her hair is already short enough as is, she has no plans of losing all her hair let alone her head.

Frozen in shock. She could not utter another word out after explaining herself to them. She didn't seem to have got on their bad side as she completely gave her a charming smile and a hand offering to get her back on her feet. She accepted with her hands still fidgeting on theirs, even with her hardest to try and not to pretend she's not clearly overwhelmed by her presence, despite being a complete stranger to her. She was just glad to find another face from the towering trees. Putting one fist to cover her mouth, she was not clearly focused on the Blonde girl but on her environment, Looking for Grimm.

"I'm sorry..." She replied meekly. Maybe she should have worn something else other than black-colored clothing on her way in.

There was a little bit of awkward silence emitting from the bespectacled girl. She appears to be gathering her thoughts and taking deep breaths in front of the girl. Closing both her fists down and looking at the girl straight into her sky blue eyes.

"The Meadows... H-have you seen the M-m-m-m-meadows? I assumed it was going to be... Umm here... Somewhere..." The further she spoke her high-pitched voice becomes less volumed until it fades to mutter. As much as she despises asking people for directions, she was getting a little impatient. (And lost) She has no plan to stick around a Grimm-filled forest with a few students fighting around a few acres. Which lit her eyes up to a sudden realization.

"Oh! A-a-and ummmmm... Have you seen a t-tall boy? He's uhm... As big as lamp post! He has this o-one long horn... On his forehead that i think is very sharp. I-i think it was on his left side. He has this strange warmth that a-anyone can feel when you're standing close to him..." Unfortunately, the delivery of her description of a certain character made her sound like this person is very exaggeratedly false.

the treeline gave way to the mouth of a large cave leaving Asher confused he was sure if the place had kept changing or he's just managed to get himself lost? judging by the fact he noticed a scorched grass form him walking seemed to be shifting aroun on occasion it seemed more likly that segments of the entire maze was moving around. With a shrug he moved forward large blade being carried casually as it rested on his back seeing as everything was going rather well he didn’t feel the need for any sort of urgency. the light of the cave entrance illuminated The dire situation another of the prospective hunters was in, a massive serpentine Grimm staring them down her scream very very loud and justifiably so even Asher was suprised. “Ok the principal must be lying Becuse these are certainly not lesser grimm“ Asher yelled out.

Jumping into action to help as the Taijutu lunged forward at the girl Ashers gleaming black blade slamming into its strike, its tail flicking to strike the huge fanus that had interrupted it. It slammed into Asher’s back knocking him forward not feeling like he‘d want a long fight all the built up heat energy was released in a single blast form Asher into the Grimm. The air so existed but the thermal blast it rippled and glowed as it punched a hole through the huge serpent the entire cave cooling down immensely as Asher got up dusting himself off feeling rather dizzy. “You good there?”

"You good there?" The man, boy, whatever, asked her.

It was a good question, all things considered, but as the edges of her vision began to swim, and as she fought for conscious thought, Ichor was hard pressed to think of an immediate answer

Watching the Grimm turn to ash on the wind, Ichor allowed herself a moment to gather her breath, survey her options, feel for her totem, and very quietly respond to her savior.

"I've been bitten," came her rather blunt answer several moments, as she gestured vaguely to her left side, voice oddly dull, "and I'm not entirely sure I'm going to be able to stay awake for another twelve minutes, so... I'm sorry for making you carry me."

A with that said, Ichor collapsed in a heap of blonde hair, dirty clothes, and distinctly exhausted limbs.

Lucoco

"ahahaha. sorry sorry. Didn't meant to startle you like that." Lucoco let out a small chuckle at the boy's reaction. She wanted to ask the boy to scout for a landmark when an unexpected thing suddenly blitzed through the air towards the other faunus, a beowulf. Fortunately he was able to avoid it but a thrown beowulf wasn't something she expected right now so it took her an extra second to actually proceed what had happened.

"wow, damn." Lucoco immediately use her semblance to turns herself invisible while making a an illusion of herself in her place, a reflex strategy that had been quite succesful to avoid confrontation from either grim or other people. The invisible rabbit faunus lowered her body to keep herself as small as possible and noticed the totem on the ground. She let out a brief whistling sound and grabbed the item. Now that she got what she needs time for her to get out!

She took extra care to keep her breath stable as she carefully slipped through the grimms that followed the big one swarming the area. She was a Vacuan nomad, and since there's no wall that protects a group traveling the desert from a stampede of wandering grimms. There's no choice but to learn how to avoid detection by various means, even if that means leaving someone as grimm bait... nah, kidding. He practically gave her that totem, time for some payback.

After she gained some distance Lucoco changed her direction and pulled her bow as she was pondering where to aim. Should she aim to help the boy get away or should she aim to defeat the grimms? Or maybe both? She rummaged through her quiver until she pulled a rather bulky arrow seemingly made out of scrapped PVC pipe, a faint blue glow could be seen emanating through the shaft. It's not a regular arrow, it's a dust arrow she designed herself, this one has ice dust inside, kinda rare in Vacuo since most of it was hogged by the rich city-dwellers for their cold water bath or something. Nocking the arrow, Lucoco aimed at the direction of the alpha before releasing it. The arrow hit the alpha right on the head and exploded on impact, releasing a chilling fog that that would freeze anyone inside, hopefully not the boy though.

Violeta, would soon hear the waterfall letting her know that she had gotten close. Just this corner. Violeta would turn the corner and she would see the wall of falling blue. “Jackpot.” the girl muttered to herself. With her target in sight, she surrounded herself with a territory and launched herself at the waterfall, not wanting to waste valuable time and get it over with.

Violeta, sailing over the lake, further boosted herself by firing wind dust from her revolvers behind her. She knew that the totems were behind the waterfall, even if she didn’t have information beforehand it would be the first place she’d look, since anywhere else would take an unreasonable amount of time to find.

As she was sailing toward the waterfall she activated her semblance once again covering herself in a territory. If Nula and Saphiria hadn’t seen her, the giant pink sphere would have been a big giveaway. The territory would do two things, one slow down her fall and two keep her from behind drenched as she broke through the water, by moving the water’s vector around herself.

Dropping down gently, Violeta claimed her prize quickly, as the only thing that was obscuring it was the waterfall.

Xander kept the grimm at bay while a few bit into him he punched into others, the only thing the grimm having achieved was making themselves easier to slam together as they got slammed into other grimm. Eventually in the brawl Tanner yelled for Xander to duck, not needing a second instruction he quickly dropped as Tanner tore through the remainder of the grimm horde. However as the bullets passed over him moving to the other section of the horde he noticed a large ursa emerged from the woods. Xander grinned and cracked his knuckles as he approached it.

"This one is mine." He declared as he caught the Ursa mid swing. It was about time he showed off, his semblance activated and he dug his fingers into the Ursa's paw as tendrils of energy started flowing towards him. The Ursa's strength was being transferred, and for now the Ursa was pushing him back. However thing soon changed as he let go of one of the Ursa's arms as it went to bite him, he slammed his fist into the Ursa's face before pushing it back. His smile seemed menacing as he looked at the Ursa, he absorbed enough strength to operate at full power.

He began to gain ground before he tucked his arms into his chest and went closer to it's chest where he began to throw repeated jabs around where it's heart should be, sidestepping the occasional bite and swing of the ursa's claw. The ursa swung at him once more which he caught against his gauntlet before landing a final punch to it's chest when an audible crack resounded in the area, he broke it's rib cage around the heart. With one final punch he turned the grimm to dust."Well that was a nice warm up." Xander proclaimed as he looked over to Tanner.

Headmaster Vos Blanche
1aaa0d86446699910eefbb4955da4d34.jpg Since the start of the exam, Vos has been monitoring everyone closely, jotting down intricate details about each individual. He noticed several unique qualities that have yet to be aware. Hopefully their potential will awaken once he pairs the students. At times he tsked at the reckless behavior from some that seem too confident in themselves to understand there is more at stake than an objective. Although not all were a disappointment. There were some who bothered to take their time to detour for the sake of others. "Interesting" Vos hummed. "Now let's see how this will turn out."

Ten minutes to go, and nearly half the people have finished what they were set out to do leaving only a couple wasting precious amount of time. "Tick-tock the clock is ticking." He mumbled impatiently, hoping everyone would pass. The Grim were of low rank, but it seems they have surrounded a couple regardless of accumulating a totem. The tricky part was that the students must hold their ground until their escort arrives. In a way, it's a test based on a real scenario. The kids left behind proved to be tough, determined to fight their way to victory. Vos was rather impressed. Alas, those plans are all for naught when the timer beeps in alarm, ending the exam. The Grimm that once occupied the ring are restrained by the staff for the next batch of teens. The forest disappears in the blink of an eye reverting to an empty, simulation room. If anyone were to ask how any of it was possible, Vos would not object to answer. The students are ushered over to the exit where the headmaster stood to announce the scores. A charismatic smile etched upon his lips as if excited to give them the news.

"What a spectacular display you guys put on. I was practically on the edge of my seat. I wasn't sure what was going to happen." He chimed. "You must be so proud of yourselves." His demeanor shifts into serious one. "Well you shouldn't. You all failed. I'm aware some of you obtained a totem, but none of you made it in time for your escorts to pluck you out of the ring. However, it's not a total loss. Every one of you lost track of time because you were helping one another. One of the most important things to remember is as a Huntsman, it is your duty to protect the innocent. That value is clearly lodged in you. Teamwork is also a necessity. For if you were to be on your own, you wouldn't last long. The greater the number the greater your chances are to survival. Whether they are weak or not is not for you to judge. Everyone plays a role in life that will lead to greatness." His brilliant eyes scan the students for a reaction. "Darkness comes from within and in order to exterminate Grimm we must stand together as one." Vos begins pacing like some sort of drill sergeant.

"You all seem upset. Well, don't allow defeat to win. Take this as an opportunity to grow. Now, remember what I said. The exam does not indicate that you are not in my academy, the purpose was to evaluate your skills and determine whom you shall pair. You may not agree with me, but each of you lacks something the other has. This will allow all of you to reach your true potential and challenge you to be your best. Now when I call your name, you will be paired and be given assigned dorms that you will all share. Remember to take your belongings along the way." Vos clears his throat and runs down the list.

"The first team will be Saphiria Blackwell, Xander Amberose, Lapis Pauk and Weldon Earl. Your leader will be Saphiria and your team will be known as, "Team W.A.S.P." Your dorm room shall be 31." The headmaster hands them their key card and a scroll for Lapis. "I was told you carry no scroll so here. It's an important device that will serve your every needs. If you have trouble, just ask your roommates." He nods over to the three members as a way of say 'I hope I can count on you to assist her.' Moving on, to the next group on the list, "the second team will be Nula Dopplers, Asher Cobalt, Violeta Pyrite, and Ichor Sable. Your leader will be Ichor Sable and you will be known as, "Team N.A.V.I." Your dorm room number is 32." Again, Vos hands over the card key before moving on to the final group. He sends them a kind smile. "You already know whom you're paired with since you're the final contenders. Tanner Mannerheim, Lucoco Chocoberry, Buc Iron, and Atomic Blackwell. You four will be known as "Team M.I.C.A" and your leader is Tanner. Congratulations, your dorm room is 33." For the final time, the headmaster hands the card keys over. "Tomorrow is your first day of class. You will receive a schedule before school starts. Your uniforms shall be waiting in your respective beds. The only thing I ask is you try your best."

0433924596ea4f100d0a3a2d3173032a.jpg Saphiria could barely make out what the redhead said, but she was sure it was an apology. She rubs the back of her head sheepishly, "no need to be sorry. Accidents happen." Looking back, an accident nearly did occur had she not noticed sooner. Saph cringes at the thought before her train of thought poofs when Nula helps out about a meadow. Her voice grew smaller as she explained. Saph couldn't help but have the desire to coax her out of her shell. "Ah, right! The meadow was one of the four regions. Maybe we'll encounter one soon?" She nods confident on the idea.

Having a second look around, the coast was clear for the moment. "Come on, we can't stand in the open too long." She suggested and takes the lead deeper into the woods. Should the girl follow is her perogitive, but could she last is another story. First she needed to find the totem then her brother. While wandering ahead, the newcomer asks about a tall boy described to be a faunus. "Uh no, I can't say that I have. You're the first person I've seen since the start of the exam." She looks over her shoulders observant of the girl's timidness. It's as though she were a prey cautious of their surroundings. It made Saph wonder if the person they asked for was a friend or a protector of theirs.

"Look, you don't have to worry about being attacked. You're with an expert huntress. The woods are secondhand nature to me. They always have their own vulnerable points Grimm tend to avoid. So long as the gravel is dry, we'll be fi-" Saph was cut off the minute she trips on a rock and dragging Nula with her down a hill and into the river. She surfaced for a gasp of air frantically searching for Nula. She couldn't very well see as she felt like she was drowning. Soon enough, she realized the current was too strong. It became stronger the further she advanced.

'Crap! If I don't hurry and pull out of the way, we'll drop into a waterfall! But where the hell is Nula?'

Saph dives down searching for the shortstack to no avail. By the time Saph surfaced a third time, she fell straight down into a large lake, however, it wasn't too tall to cause damage. "I'm alive?" Saph gasped searching her body for anything out of place. "I'm alive!" She splashed around. What she didn't know was that she was saved by a girl who happened to be searching for the totem. When she locked eyes with them, she could see the direction of the waterfall avoiding the person. It began to make sense between the height and the stranger. "Did you...just save-" her words cut off as the timer goes off. The area around her disassembles into blue blocks until there was nothing but an empty holographic room. What's surprising is that she wasn't really soaked.

A staff member approached the girls asking them to head over to the exit for their scores. How disappointing. Saph hadn't attempted to acquire a single totem. She was far too busy searching for her brother that she lost track of time. The snow-haired girl hung her head and stood with all the students. She knew what was coming and it was confirmed the moment the headmaster opened his mouth. She already felt ashamed as it is, but the headmaster's words touched Saphiria. They weren't harsh, just encouraging to do better. That's all he was asking for his students.

When Vos called out her name for the first group, she realized the faces belonging to her team we're the same ones she ran out on. It was an embarrassing moment that she acted like a child only to bite her in the butt. As if that didn't stir enough feelings, the headmaster anointed her to be the leader. "Wh-what?! Why me? I-I'm not leadership material!" She whined only to earn a scowl from the Headmaster into biting her tongue. "Too bad." He said.

Saph hangs her head mortified. His decision didn't make any sense. She was dependent on others and to be separated from her twin no less? Anxiety rises through her like a rocket and all she could do is accept the card key, grab her belongings and squat outside the hallway in despair.

Turning back the clock for a moment, Violeta sailing through the air, prepared her large territory to protect herself from getting wet, when a sudden shadow fell on her and looking up she would find person Pumpkid Pumpkid falling off the waterfall. So close to finishing, but she was the true heir to the Aureliano what kind of heir would she be if just let them fall to their possible deaths. Rosalia used her large territory to slow down and let Saphiria pass through the territory, as she did, Rosalia would lower the magnitude of her fall vector.

A keeping up large territory was taxing on her aura, but another person would also be falling to their watery doom Vagabond Spectre Vagabond Spectre . Good Grief. Rosalia pulled out her revolver and switching their chamber, she fired a shot. Due to her semblance being based off Vectors, it made her a crack shot, due to the calculations that she had to constantly make to use her semblance effectively.

The shot that Rosalia fired wasn’t just a normal dust shot, rather it was surrounded by her territory, the dust hit Nula creating a small ice patch at her back to anchor the territory to her person and just like before Rosalia would slow down her fall by lowering the magnitude of her fall vector.

Rosalia would pass through the waterfall and reach her goal, but she’d find not one, but four totems, turns out this zone had the totems clustered together. Then the exam ended and the simulation room would revert back to normal. Rosalia would notice the other two people near her, Saphiria and Nula and quietly the Mafia Princess would roll two of totems towards them before the staff came to them.

Rosalia simply gave a grin and a wink, towards the duo before retreating away cooly.

Sometime later…

Violeta crossed her arms in slight, slight annoyance. Now she was pretty sure it was just the whole secret test of character and they were never meant to succeed and that her preparations meant absolutely nothing and she certainly wasn’t miffed what she wasn’t team leader. After all team leader was going to have the most attention towards them and she certainly couldn’t have that, no sir, she certainly wasn’t angry and certainly didn’t feel like breaking the headmaster’s kneecaps or anything…

Well what was done was done, she was in Beacon, just as planned.

Asher Cobalt
Seeing that the girl he’d just saved suddenly fell unconscious Asher cringed a bit with a small sign he’d easily pick the unconscious girl up gently draping her over one of his shoulders and carrying the little totem the girl had collected Becuse it didn’t seem too fair to leave her prize here so with the girl secured he’d run towards what should probably be the pick up zone for everyone.

arriving there alongside everyone else, Vos explained that they had all failed due to time running out however due to them all helping one another they‘d shown themselves to be worthy hunter prompting a cheerful grin from Asher as Vos gave a bit of a speech to lift everyone spirits he’d gently place down the girl he’d more or less rescued. he was going to say something about the situation with the girl when Vos began to announce teams. Asher ending up on the second team with Nula Dopplers, Violeta Pyrite, and Ichor Sable. interesting honestly but before Vos moved on he’d tap the head masters shoulder. “Hey sir this girl here been injured bad bitten by some grimm snake“ Asher mentioned calmly hoping getting the girl some medical attention. Little did he know that girl was the teams leader least he knew Nula so that was fairly good. Hopefully they had uniforms in his size..

Nula dopplers
Test complete

She frowned at the answer the blonde girl made. Although it is highly unlikely that the girl has seen another soul for a while even with incredible feats such as Asher's. Just who is this new face she's been stalking, there was a little sense of intrigue in her eyes. She could not speak at her presence well, which the girl may find annoying to deal with, at least in her opinion. It was best to stop asking any further questions. Just appreciate the fact that she is now accompanied by another fellow future huntress. Moving on deeper into the space disorienting forest, Nula stood for a brief moment as the blonde girl decides to move up as standing Idle leaves them vulnerable to Grimm attacks. There was no other path but to follow behind, she made it this far, and going alone is a dangerous choice. She kept close to the blonde girl, with her gun still drawn and pointed anywhere except of course the one she follows.

Occasionally looking back to expect an ambush as last time that was how she was attacked. Unexpectedly she was grabbed by the hood when she faced away from the scissor-sword wielder. Putting her off balance and rolling down a hill, although not disoriented. Her glasses near smacked off her face when a random rather large bush attempts to cushion her fall, only rolling through it. Despite her attempts to stop rolling down towards a river, she did notice a window of opportunity in one of her mid-roll. She was facing towards the river and with the slow wave of her hand, she tried to open a portal until a sting of cold temp distracted her out of focus.

"H-huh!?"

Before she realized she was descending down the air slowly, it was like a hidden force held her. What is this is this a work of a semblance? Looking around she couldn't find the source but she was gently put on dry ground. She cleared her glasses and tried to pretend that the cold was not bothering her back. While doing so a totem rolled towards her knees. She could not believe what just rolled to her. All the trouble she went to for this item to just roll at her. There was no doubt this was the totem she was looking for, or at least looks like. She stood up looking around to check her surroundings. There was a pink-haired girl by the waterfall, in her hands what appears to be a Totem of similar design. She looks down to her totem and back at the mysterious girl who simply left without a word. She just stood trying to quickly process what happened until the immersion was broken by the timer and the sudden appearance of staff out of nowhere which shocked her. They were there all this time? She also saw the girl who was accompanying her, drenched in river water. She was speechless and was escorted out with a gentle push on her right shoulder.

Throughout the whole announcement. She barely moved as the news of failing left her in shock. An upset look dreads on her face. She simply cannot face the fact that she failed. She was one step close, until further on into the announcement. It gave her a bittersweet relief but she did acknowledge the point of what the principal was trying to say. Perhaps she misinterprets the test and took a literal view of it. To ponder about it will have to cease and wait for now. It is the time for the long-awaited team assembling. 3 people that she will have to stick with for a long time. Just the mere thought of it had her sweating and heart racing. Showing unease as she puts her hands to her mouth upon the announcement of teams. When came to her team. Her eyes lit up upon hearing a familiar name in her team. What are the chances? In this room full of students she would be paired with some she had just met hours ago. Either way that gave her a sigh of relief.

"Team... NAVI..."

She whispers under her breath. She has yet to meet the other two. Nervous of who these two might be. She now had to look for the big A of the team. Finding him took little time to do, in the sea of students, his height was very distinguishable from the rest. Before she could run up to him, however. She received keycard access to the designated team room 32.

"T-there you are! I'm s-sorry to...!!!"

As she enters the scene with an abrupt voice crack to the sight of his now teammate Asher, carrying an injured blonde girl in his arms. Definitely smaller than the previous blonde girl she met. She failed to notice the girl until she got closer and given her angle of approach, she went behind him. Her mouth covered preventing her to utter another sound. She could only look at the girl in shock as Asher explains the status of the girl.

Lapis Pauk
Location: test area to hallways
q51bTLs.jpg

Lapis was more annoyed than anything the test was over. She didn't understand the magic used to make a room into a forest all she cared was her limited fun was over. She also didn't like that they didn't just kill the grimm they should only take a few hours at most to restock so killing them was no big loss.

Lapis would be annoyed at being told to leave for a score she had killed these weak grimm what more could there be? As the tint head Master spoke Lapis didn't care what he said it seemed they failed because the teachers were to weak to find them. Really was this what a school a place where kids were coddled? Lapis just did not get it this was all so against what Lapis thought. She also thought the headmaster was wrong she had not worked with another or saved them as a kindness such things were not really why she hunted. Lapis found it fun and if others died they died she had lost family to grimm that was just the way of things. If you needed others to protect you then you likely died that was a simple truth of the world. Really this was just another thing that didn't line up with how she had always seen the world. Still they were going to be staying here which Lapis was kind of regretting even coming so she saw no reason to stay.

Even as teams were announced Lapis was already out of the room and into the hallway. She didn't even pay attention to the whole scroll thing or get a keycard. She would just do what she had always done, if he thought the kids needed teams them the kids alone should stay on teams, but Lapis was no child and needed no team. This place had been sold to her as a place that made people that killed girmm and in truth it had been one big disappointment. This school was so far not the forge or killers she had expected, not the place where heroes were hammered out, it was a daycare for children that didn't realize it.

Lapis already a good stance from the examination room heard the door open and close and paused seeing it was the girl from earlier, it seemed little had changed with her ability to not break down. Lapis wondered how such a child would not be killed when she saw a girmm, well these weakling grimm likely had a tough time getting anyone so even if the girl had stood still crying, like lapis assumed she had, the grimm likely barely scratched her. If this place let people like her in then Lapis figured she was better off just going out and hunting grimm, this school was a place for soft children. There had been a forest not to far from the school, that would do, she would just go there and skip all the boring stuff, right to killing grimm.

Still high on adrenaline, Tanner nodded at Xander with a slight giggle.

"All yers." he said. The boy did some weird glowing thing with the Ursa. Tanner released his anchors and pointed Skôane upward, content to stand back and let the brawler enjoy himself. Just in case he stood ready with another five rounds worth of back up.

An unnecessary preparation as it turned out. Somehow the madlad pushed the entire bear back and flipped the script on the beast. Rather than dealing out a vicious mauling, the bear like monster got a gauntleted fist to the muzzle. He actually toyed with the damned beast for a while, tenderizing it like a particularly juicy steak. As a finisher, he straight up punched it's heart out.

"Noice." Tanner said sincerely. He hesitated for a second, then held his fist out for a bump.

The dude probably had enough self control to not smash his knuckles into paste with those flashy gauntlets of his. A simple show of trust.

"Aight then. Nice te meet ye, name's Tanner. Theresaways a Totem I think. Should be recognizable little things in the top o the tallest tree, per the eadmaster's sayso." Tanner rattled off.

Over the course of the journey Tanner mostly babbled casually. A few jokes, some of them even PG, mostly tales about his family and the weirder things he'd seen during their travels, and if it was just Tanner but did the maze actually seem to shift? To get to the tallest copse of trees didn't take that long. Where the hell was the exit?

After passing what he felt was the same tree a few times, Tanner experimentally marked it.

Sure enough they soon ran into it again.

"Ay wha? Ang on, I'll scamper up and takes a look aoround. Something fucky is afoot ere." he muttered annoyed, running a finger over the carved 'X'. They didn't take any weird turns, he'd tracked the position of the sun, so what the hell happened? He flung an anchor up the trees.

Once high enough again, Tanner flicked open one of the things a sailor always carried with them: A spyglass.

So over yonder he saw the tall tree they just clambered to get their tokens. Over there, a grass plain, and a waterfall with people in it.

He adjusted the focus. Those girls were soaked and that blonde...

What'd he come up here for again?

Ah, yeah, a way out. Right. He shook himself and tried to find a path. Instead, he noticed something weird, the entire landscape seemed to just dissapear into blue cubes?

"Tha- Oh 'ang on." he said, and glanced down.

Yep. There went his tree.

More on instinct than any rational thought, his anchors flew out and wrapped around the closest avialable target. The test ended as Tanner dangled from the roof fixtures. The look on the teachers face when they couldn't find him straight away more than made up for the annoyance of failure.

With a relaxed smile, Skôane strapped to his back, and hands behind his head Tanner awaited the verdict of Vos. The man had a knack for the theatrical that made even simple team assignments and grading a bit of a show. His eyes wandered over the group as Vos did his bit. So these would be the people who he would live for the next four years? He nodded. They looked like good people. Or in that blonde's case, just plain good.

For his part, the sailor simply hoped he would get a cool team leader.

"- and your leader is Tanner."

Why thank you sir, he thought with a cheerful grin. Then his face went neutral as the weight settled on his shoulders. By the Sun, that meant he had the responsibility to get everyone home safe.

"Noice. Nah pressure." he muttered, then steadied himself. Confidence, people needed to see confidence to feel confidence.

He waved at his new teammates. "Sah, how's about we do an introduction an all, then we go sort our rooms out, then go catch summat to eat. Not just name, but also what you got going on, what yer strengths are and all that."

He moved his hand to indicate himself.

"I'm Tanner Mannerheim, a sailin' man. Been te pretty much the 'tire North, well, the bits most worth going te anywhay. I like the skies, flyin', Mistrali Quiche, the occasional shanty an tasteless jokes. I don' like people what won't get their hands dirty, caves, an what the Vacuo folk call comedy TV. This be Skôane, me gun. Issa big gun, it makes a fine paste outta anything in front o' it, 'specially when I set up with the giggle switch. But! If I sets up, I'll be reliant on ye to keep me nads out the fire cause I cannea dodge while I'm braced."

He clapped his hands once.

"So! Who next?"

If anyone went to try and run out, he'd grab them by the collar. He needed to know what people were capable of, just to make sure he wouldn't toss them into a situation they were ill suited for, and that wasn't negotiable.

1aaa0d86446699910eefbb4955da4d34 (1).jpg The students seemed unpleasant about their score. He had hoped giving them a motivational speech and announcing teams would cheer them up. Some stormed out in despair as if he had mentioned someone had died. Not exactly what he was expecting, but it was worth a try. Speaking of corpses, Asher tapped his attention over to Ichor lying flat on the floor. Apparently she had been bitten by the snake Grimm at some point. He nearly forgotten about the person as he was excited to get the exam over with.

It would seem curious that the headmaster would react to the situation, but truth be told, he has seen so much that he's grown numb. What use would panicking do anyway? Time was of the essence for the child and it would be irrefutable if he carelessly allowed her to drop dead on her first day.
"Right, so you'll have to take her to the infirmary and report to the nurse." He glances at the four members. "All of team N.A.V.I. What a surprise she will have when you tell her she's team captain, eh? Now then, let's go. I'll take you there." He nudges Asher for him to carry the girl along the trip in a hurry before the poison enters further into her bloodstream.

asher would nod looking to nula and the other girl "right lets go do that then hey?" he'd say rather calmly lifting ichor up as he was ready to drag the poor girl to the infirmary. “so mister vos are we sure you didn’t leave something a bit too dangerous in that maze this seems pretty bad I mean I hope she doesn’t die afterall” Asher said with a worried tone picking up ichor With ease as he walked off following Vos‘s lead

Before Weldon could get a word in edgewise, the young man on the other end of the blonde girl's scroll proceeded to threaten him and the girl herself had run off while apologizing for him over her shoulder. "Note to self: Maybe don't come on so strong next time," He said aloud. He also made a mental note to not let his friends in Atlas find out what happened here since he'd never hear the end of it if they did. After a little more wandering, the announcement for new students to make their way to the entrance hall.

At the entrance hall, he and the other new students were greeted by a child who quickly transformed into a grown man and introduced himself as the headmaster Blanche Vos. He then led the new students to a set of doors, gave them a task, and set them loose into the maze. Weldon was on his own the whole time, killing Grimm as he came upon them just like his uncle had trained him to do. He eventually found his way to the cave system and after a few more fights found the totem he was supposed to retrieve...right as the buzzer sounded and the simulation faded away.

The headmaster was blunt and did not fail to tell Weldon and his peers what they had done wrong, as well as how they could improve. When the subject of teams came up, Weldon finally took a look at his new teammates as well as the other teams and saw the blonde girl from earlier, Ichor apparently, unconscious and looking very ill. As the giant known as Asher carried her away following Vos, Weldon stepped after them and called out to the headmaster, "What the fuck is wrong with you, Vos?! How can you be so calm when someone you were charged with taking care of nearly died on her first day? I've got my eyes on you, you hear?"

"And you," He said to Asher, "Make sure that girl survives, yeah? I still owe her an apology after all." After he had said his piece, he turned around and started making his way back to his dorm, having already dealt with enough bs for today.

Buc did not have to many issues in retrieving his totem. Yes, there were certainly Grimm in his way that were trying to prevent him from retrieving it. Why were they defending it? He couldn't help but wonder why these shadowy creatures hell bent on the absolute destruction of all of civilization were so focused on preventing a handful of students from retrieving ultimately worthless trinkets. But, as he well knew, he wasn't the man to ask for an answer. He couldn't think of a reason, and left it at that. Maybe he'd ask one of his teachers, or even the headmaster. Though he very much doubted the latter. Though he was no doubt the headmaster for a reason, he seemed very, very unqualified and much to unprofessional for the position.

And so when the ceremony meant to assign teams came around, he kept his mouth shut. The only thing he did do was frown ever so slightly upon being told they had failed. 'Since when did hunts have a time limit?' he thought to himself while politely waiting for his team to be announced.

MICA, and he wasn't to be the leader. Thank the gods and then some for that. He apparently didn't even have the abilities to finish some inconsequential task that had been assigned with almost the intent of them failing. Then again, neither could anyone else here, apparently. So that made him perfectly average. And if that were the case, then he had been as likely a candidate as anyone else, which didn't sit well with him. Failed assignment aside, he wasn't much of a leader. He was instinctual, yes, and could capitalize on an opening, correct. But to lead other people? And to try and get them to do what he could do, when he could just do it himself? No thank you.

When their leader spoke to them for the first time, multitude of bags hanging from his limbs or dangling in his one hand with the other keeping his dane axe steady on his shoulder, it was all Buc could do to understand the kid. But he learned fairly quickly that it was a lost cause, and the best course of action was to stitch the conversation together from the words he did understand. And what he did understand, was that they were supposed to introduce themselves. 'Was going to have to happen sooner or later, I suppose.'

"My name,"
he said, pointing to himself as if it weren't obvious who he meant, "is Buc. I am from an Atlasian Dust mining village. And this," this time rocking the dane axe on his shoulder, "Is my Dane Axe Cwellere. I can shoot things with it, yeah, but my Semblance does better with me fighting with someone or something face to face. I can manipulate my Aura and absorb it to make me hit harder and move faster. Otherwise I apparently have a naturally strong Aura, letting me take more hits before I find my opening and exploit it."

That done and out of the way, he waddled past Tanner, bags rustling as he moved, and made his way to the nearest bed. Where he promptly dropped all of his things and began to unpack. It appeared that instead of entering with the mindset of a new life, he, or more accurately his mother, had been hellbent on taking his room from the house he grew up in, to the Academy. Before long the blankets had been replaced with furs and a new headboard, seemingly made out of large horns, fitted. If left to his own devices, who knew what he would turn their dorm into?

1aaa0d86446699910eefbb4955da4d34 (1).jpg Blanche had made his way down the hall when he halts in his tracks to the sound of Weldon's rants. The male complained about having Vos having little to no care about someone's well-being, or so he assumed. Vos was merely accustomed to the wars he's experienced through the years growing emotionally numb to almost every danger. What difference would it make if he were to panic and rush to someone's side? Panic held no use when one should be calm and collected. A bite was nothing and Ichor is not weak based on her combat records. Had Weldon known, perhaps his thoughts would change. There is, however, one fact and that is to hurry the girl to a medic. So while he gave the young man an audience, he simply walked off afterwards proceeding to their destination.

In the center of the building, lie rooms belonging to staff. Some corridors branching off to another building. A distinguishable sign sticks out with a medicine insignia written on it. The headmaster opens the double doors for the group to enter.
"Set Ichor on the bed." He points to the first one before tapping on the male nurse's shoulder. They jump upon touch and realize it's the headmaster. They remove their headphones and lean back in the chair. "Hey! I was just getting some paperwork finished." Vos glares at the man clearly doing something he shouldn't on his scroll. "You have a patient. They're in dire need of medical attention. They were bitten by Taijutu." As the blonde steps aside, the nurse quickly rushes to Ichor's side instantly noticing their pale and sweaty symptoms. They use their semblance to see through their anatomy finding their bloodstream gradually contaminated by the venom. Among other things, there were a few lacerations.

"I'll take care of them in no time. In the meantime, you kids should sit tight." He closes the curtains to shun the team from his work while he grabs his instruments.

The headmaster kindly pats Asher on the back shooting the group a smile.
"She'll be fine. She's in good hands. You may choose to wait or leave to your dorm. Either way, I don't think she will be up and about until tomorrow."
