Initial Settings

World

The setting is a typical fantasy world pictured in games or novels. Adventuring is the most popular job, and so young people would start their own adventure party, taking quests from Guilds in their kingdoms. In order to get stronger, they will train by themselves, or the faster way is to find experience by hunting monsters.

Beings

Living beings in this world, in general, is separated into three distinctions

  1. Beasts are creatures lacking coherent intelligence. They move primarily by instincts, and by consensus are considered less harmful than monsters. Example would be animals.
  2. Monsters can be either non-intelligent or semi-intelligent creatures. They lack neither the desire nor the necessary level of intelligence to interact with other intelligent beings, and so usually proved hostile to other beings. Example would be Kobolds, Goblins, Ahrimans, etc.
  3. Intelligent beings are creatures who had achieved sentience, and thus able to interact with other intelligent beings. Some creatures considered monsters had managed to ascend into this level of being, and so are not considered monsters anymore. This occurrence, however, is really rare. Example would be Humans, Elves, Dwarves, etc.

This distinction is dynamic, so one race might view a creature as monster while another race just view them as beasts or animals. Usually a race would consider another species as monster if they are harmful. Note that only intelligent beings can use this distinction. An ordinary Goblin, for example, wouldn't think much whether something is a beast, a monster, or an intelligent being.

Magic

Magic is the ability to manipulate the world by means of Mana. It differs from natural ability simply by the presence of Mana in its activation. For example, a dragon's breath are not magic because it's the inherent ability of dragons. Magic with greater impact towards the world would require more Mana. In order to use Mana, a magic-user have to invoke the Mana supply within their body using their minds (which is why most magic-user uses chant to concentrate better). While magic-user can absorb mana from outside source, they still have to use some from within themselves as catalyst. Each living being has their own affinity to mana, which affect their supply. Some people won't ever be able to use magic simply because their mana supply is really small. This need for catalyst means that using a magic too strong for their body will kill a magic-user, even the most talented ones.

Using magic requires intelligent. Some monsters with higher intelligent than common mob might be able to use a few magic, but it requires true sentience to be able to learn the limitless possibility offered by magic. Therefore those kinds of monsters are limited to a few magics inherited by species rather than learned anew.

World Building

Characters

Our characters would be monsters which gained intelligence comparable if not higher than the other intelligent races. Our primary concern would be to survive in this dangerous world using our wits and whatever natural abilities our race started with. In the long run, our character will get stronger and stronger until they can fulfill whatever goal they wanted.

You are allowed to create whatever species of monster that you want, but you need to describe it in detail if it's not a common creatures seen in fiction. This is so we can have a good image of what your character represents.

One special ability that all these intelligent monsters share is a unified communication language, that is we can talk among ourselves using one language that we all, somehow, understood. This ability however only extends to us gifted monsters and not to our entire race. For example, a goblin character can miraculously talk to a slime character, but he still can't do it to other slimes. So it's an ability linked to the sudden intelligent growth that we got. To talk with other intelligent races, however, we still need to learn their languages first (Human language, or Elf language, etc.)

Progression

There's something I'd like to try in world building, that is we will be building it together bit by bit as it's revealed in the roleplay. For example, if our character mentioned about a distant kingdom in the east called "McScottish Kingdom", then it'll be put there granted that it didn't contradict previous information. This means that as we progress along the roleplay, the world will be filled with more information than when we first started.

To do this though we need to make sure that

  1. Information doesn't contradict each other. If it happened, then be willing to edit it.
  2. Be logical
  3. If you have any plan for future plot that you won't reveal now, you might need to describe the necessary information beforehand so it won't get overwritten later. Or be willing to change plot on-demand

If you have any questions or suggestions just ask it in OOC.
