Origin: Toby was born from the parents Ashley & James Mason and was loved by them with all their hearts. He was especially the light of Ashley's heart that she made a golden, heart-shaped locket. On the inside on the left was a picture of her with Toby wrapped up in a baby blue blanket as in infant, and on the right side was the inscription "To my precious baby boy, Toby. Love Mommy". This was her gift to him on his fourth birthday, a gift that would his last from her.
On year after his fourth birthday, Toby was waiting on his mother to pick him up from school which she did every day after she left her job at the diner. Well, as time went by, Ashley never came, and Toby was starting to get deeply worried. Soon James came to pick up his son, but had tragic news to tell Toby that his mother was in a car wreck, and she died. This would take a toll on both of the Mason men, but a worse turn for James.
Some time after Ashley's death, James turned to drinking as a way to cope, but along with that drinking came a verbally abusive side of him as well. After Ashley's death, James became cruel, cold-hearted, and mean toward his son by calling him names such as brat, mistake, etc. However, the cruelest thing he would tell Toby is that it was his fault that his mother died.
That night when he was told it was his fault that his mother died, Toby's heart was shattered. So he made a wish upon a star to be taken away from the place he called home, away from his father, and taken to a place where he could find a family that would love him and treat him kindly. He made the wish before he fell asleep.
The next morning he woke up in a whole new world where he was discovered by Fluttershy, and discovered he was in the land of Equestria. At first he was shy around the Pegasus and her friends, but after time of getting to know them, them comforting him through a tough time, he had become part of the ponies' family, and soon adopted by Fluttershy.
Now he lives happily, comforted, loved, and cared for in Equestria, but still holds onto the memory of his dear mother, Ashley.
Description: Toby is now 9 years old, he has short dark brown hair in a bowl cut, forest green eyes, glasses, he wears a red hoodie with blue jogging pants, black sneakers, but thanks to his Aunt Rarity, he has a nice, assorted, colorful wardrobe. Now with his height, he comes up to just the barrel/chest level of the grown up ponies, but to his big sisters, the CMC and other young ponies, he comes up to eye level to them.
