Other Roleplay Pet peeves

Is it supposed to be a group RP or something? Just wondering because such a case can be turned into a 1x1 where I mostly do RPs in. That is, if both parties so desire.
yeah, it's supposed to be a group RP. I don't really do 1x1s. I'm searching and posting up in the groups section because I want to participate in a group RP. So taking the idea to a 1x1 dynamic isn't really what I am looking to do.

Not to mention some ideas just don't work well for 1x1. I've had an idea for a time travel RP for awhile now that I've wanted to do, but it would require a pretty large group since it involves two warring factions. I have enough of a hard time just trying to set up 1x1's, let alone something like this, so I haven't bothered.

12:03pm: Hey I posted.
12:18pm: I saw you were online. Did you read my post?
12:45pm: Hey... I hope you're writing your post right now...
1:12pm: Are you ignoring me?
1:45pm: I hope you're not ghosting me. :/

Now I am, god dammmmmn.

I have a hard enough time getting six people submitted and approved in a group here. I can't imagine trying for a large one.

Lately I've been having issues getting 1x1 rps started. Usually I'll reach out to someone who posted some great ideas in an interest check and either hear nothing back or exchange a few messages before *poof*, I never hear from them again.

I totally understand that things happen in life or maybe they're just not feeling the vibe, and even though I'm pretty ghost-friendly it's a little frustrating when it keeps happening again and again. I think I might give making my own interest check a chance and see if that works better!

Nothing like coming off hiatus to someone messaging me off site about my character for a RP and how big their boobs will be and if they'll be really attractive. That rubs me the wrong way and makes it feel like you're alluding to wanting things that will 100% break the TOS on this site. I'm not into that, and I state in my rules on all websites that if it breaks the terms on the website, I won't even touch it off site. Won't do it, won't go near it, it's not interesting. Stop approaching people this way. It's not cool.

Not the point I know but I want to slap people like that and say “hey genius women don’t like being reduced to the fat strapped to their chest.”

Like porn exists folks. If ya wanna get off to the relative attractiveness of fictional beings go watch/read that and leave the rest of us in peace.

or alternatively, there ARE adult RP sites out there. I mean, you still have to mind your manners. But at least the subject matter is more or less expected.

I don't think I will ever understand ghosting. I'm patient and I understand we have lives outside of RPN, so I am not going to ask for instant responses. However, what is an acceptable amount of time to wait? A month? Two? More? Plus, no notice? It is more of a concern in group storylines since there are more participants. That being said, I feel that the roleplay is probably dead if a month passes with no new post or notice. Eventually, regrettably, we must decide for ourselves if the storyline we are in is not advancing and it is time to move on.

See I don’t think it’s specifically a fade to black issue though. It’s fundamentally a “I don’t want to write a story with someone I want you to write a story for me.” So basically requesting smut fic.

And yeah there are sites for that. Maybe even roleplay sites for that.

But it’s a very specific style of request that isn’t actually about roleplaying. Even if I did erotic roleplay I would still be pissed by these people. Cuz hey I want to write a story with someone not just write you a one-shot, go to AO3 or something for that.

I'm on adult RP sites as well, and yeah there are just as many people complaining about the approach that others have to their RPs. I think its a universal problem. But seriously, if its lewds and boobs that are your main interest in RPing... probably better off on an adult RP site.

Well, I mean... roleplaying can be deep and immersive, or shallow and vapid. It IS still roleplaying if you are playing out a role. Even if the role is paper thin.

AO3 is trash-tier. It's weird because you have to get "invited" to join the site. I guess it was their attempt at gatekeeping. But the writing there is such garbage, I don't understand what standard it was that they are trying to keep.

There's this one group RP where one of the players persistently wanted to give their character a certain type of weapon -- a bow in this case -- despite its unavailability at that point of the RP (it's still early game when this happened). At first they outright threw said weapon in which the GM (not me) immediately vetoed. Then they did a workaround by making a crudely handmade bow out of the fallen branch which the GM did mention IC. I personally think it worked albeit with the bow's questionable durability, but it still infuriated the GM big time to the point of them OOC-ly venting to me about it. I mean, they do know I have literally zero experience on GM-ing, right?

Making an original character, creating art for them, and then folks telling you that your character resembles an existing character.

I have a character who closely resembles an anime character, and I have to tell folks that it's just a coincidence. I never even knew of the anime until someone pointed it out to me!

On my pisses me those who want erotic roleplay or those who want by romantic wants give in erp. For me romantic is only romance without 18+ scenes like a romantic movie.

Erotic content is forbidden on this site. So if someone asks for it report them to the staff.

(You can report specific posts or go to open a ticket to contact the staff directly).

For moment not happen on this site but i happened on other site. I just answer at this subject or at least that's what I thought.

And thanks.

That's what I'll do if it happens.

How many separate RPs do people usually juggle at once? I get worried when people drop off without any attempt at least saying a parting word/warning, because I want to be able to attentively reply to all my partners. I can't do that if I am involved in too many stories, so it really sucks.

Well, When I play in my language I can maybe be 15-20 short or 2-3 middle. In English I don't know because I'm was not trying until now.

Consistently slow response times are my current pet peeve. To be clear, I'm happy with one post every four to seven days. (Roughly once a week.) Would I prefer more, if we're both enthusiastic about and inspired by the rp? Absolutely! But I will never pressure anyone to post more often than they're comfortable with, or able to.

I don't have many active storylines currently (again: picky,) but one partner has consistently taken a month + for every reply. We started writing together last June. We are still only halfway through our second scene. The person in question is lovely, and we get along well. There are no significant offline issues preventing them from replying, other than maybe taking on too many outside hobbies/storylines than they can reasonably manage.

It's driving me insane. The total lack of communication about when they'll be able to post just makes it worse. I'm close to giving this one the boot, which is a shame, because I really enjoyed the premise.

Related to the above, this isn’t so much a pet peeve as a bit of advice.

Always under promise when it comes to response times.

If I am busy I will tell my partners either “hey I’m busy it might be two weeks before I can reply, I will try to keep you updated.”

Or “hey I’ll get a reply up over the weekend when I’m off work.”

No one is ever gonna get mad for a surprise reply earlier then you promised.

As to the pet peeve portion :

Do not pester people for responses. You know what makes me want to write even less then general lack of time and energy?

Someone bothering me at work about when I’m gonna write a reply for essentially collaborative fan fiction.

I will get to it when I get to it. But your not gonna make me go any faster by passive aggressively poking me to respond.

This will not be a super unpopular take, but I feel the biggest thing that disconnects me from a writing space or community is when plotting is lacklustre. Detail is subjective, but the responses, such as “okay” to any sort of recommendation or plot suggestion to advance the rp. Or when people respond with “what character of mine do you think goes with a character you’re proposing to plot with?” You pick one and suggest a few plot ideas and you get more “okay, sure, that sounds good.” It drives me into the disinterested lane, and I am not here to drag you through the writing process. It’s okay if someone isn’t feeling the plot or a particular scene (happens, the muse is a tormenter of the brain). But communication is something I value in a writing partner and I don’t want to take all the mental load of prepping this scene and there’s nothing left for me to discover or engage with. 😩

My Pet Peeves:

Young Adult Drama RPs.

Characters who have the "gamemaster"/"wannabe vampire" aesthetic but aren't either self-aware about it and/or are just generic anime boys.

The entirety of the I'm-14-and-this-is-deep crowd.

Anti-anthropological themes/nihilistic themes.

Ageism (mainly noninclusion) towards people below 21 but still of legal age (I've dealt with the premature equivalent of this shit my whole life. It's why I failed to be able to reach my full potential during my developmental years. So yeah, I hold a grudge.)

recently had someone take my whole plot concept and pass it off as their own in an interest check, soon after we decided not to pursue our story further 🧍 like… if it was just the basic premise, whatever, live your life, but they literally took so much of my worldbuilding that they did not contribute to in the slightest. just irks me.

For me a pet peeve would be... Having ideas of a roleplay but me not wanting to organize it.. or just throwing the idea out there and letting someone else do all the organization and I'm a normal roleplayer. Like give the idea and let someone else run with it. That and I feel like I'm not up to date enough with the historical backgrounds I want to do (definitely wanna do a geisha/mythology at some point but ah.. laziness and not wanting all that pressure)
