Robotech - The Invid War - IC

"Dammit Cyrus, get your act together!" He thought, a bit ticked that he was not performing too well. He tries another burst of 5 at a Soldier. (Soldier 4)

(13 for 14.)
Are you also going for a head shot, or are you sticking with the body shots?

Cyrus' attack strikes home, causing some of the armor on its chest to vaporize, but it is still in the fight.

Soldiers 4 and 5 both target John with his big gun on his Cyclone, seeing that as a real threat. They will both hit unless you dodge.

Rykon Rykon is up, and Sherwood Sherwood has a dodge to roll.

Another volley, aimed for the eye - targetting Soldier 7 to hopefully finish it off.

Thanks to the explosive damage done to it earlier by the grenades, Soldier #7 falls.

Blackjack smiles as he sees the Invid Soldiers getting wasted one by one. He goes ahead and targets Soldier 8 with another head shot, hoping to eliminate it before it can strike back.

Another blast, and the Soldier falls. There are now only three of the Invid forces left standing there, and two of them have already been damaged quite a bit.

Soldier 9 and 10 both target Jandra this time, but surprisingly, they are both waaaay off target with their attacks. (both rolled a '2'! Yikes!)

Once again, Charlie takes aim with her gunpod. This time putting her sites on the eye of Soldier number 5. Even if she misses(which she probably will) maybe it will at least count as suppressing fire for others to do the job properly.

Target: aimed, soldier 5 eyepiece
Strike: 22
Damage: 17

Charlie hits the Soldier in the head, doing critical damage. It is still up and active, since it hadn't been harmed by the earlier explosives thrown by the Karbarran minors.

With a quick shot, though, Milo fires a burst from his rifle and manages to finish it off, leaving just the two Soldiers left.

But they don't last long. Another bunch of explosive charges comes flying over the barricade, exploding in the midst of the last two Invid, shattering their armor and killing them instantly.

Moving out of combat time.

From behind the barricade, several space-suited figures carefully peek out and look around. They spot the squad in their Cyclones, and slowly stand up. Several of the Bearmen come out from behind their makeshift cover and cautiously approach. Finally, one of them clicks on a radio and says, "You are the ones that the Administrator told us about. I am Bron, and we owe you our lives."

"Jandra, 3rd Lieutenant. Took two groups to crush them in-between - you did well yourself, bearing up long enough for us to get here." She steps up just a little, eyes their makeshift barricade as if to acknowledge their improvisational talent. "Good work, given what you had at hand, without much of a forewarning. Anyone injured, or did we make it in time to prevent the worst?"

Bron shakes his head. "We took no casualties. Our mining suits are pretty tough; have to be to survive working in this environment." He then slowly drifts over in the low gravity to stand near the squad, looking down at the Cyclone-suited figures in front of him. "Not that I'm complaining, but what do you want with us? Why are you here?"

John looks up at the giant Bearman and simply says, "We are here to liberate this system from the Invid, and as our fleet is coming into the system, we are working to clear out the infestation step by step until they are all wiped out and gone. Any and all information that your team here can provide to our superiors will go a long way to save a lot of lives, and we have a intel ship nearby with the fancy officers nearby that would like to come and talk with your people here. Can you call to your administrator and ask if they can approach and dock?"

"We will ask, but since you have eliminated the hated Invid from our mine, I would guess that the answer will be 'yes' to them approaching to talk. Let us go to the main habitat to let you speak directly with the Administrator."

Mike nods and moves to follow the Bearman to the Administrator. "Let's get this done then."

The team now heads back up the elevator of the mine shaft to the airlock that leads into the habitat, but this time, you have an escort of several rather jovial Bearmen with you. Back inside, you are led to where Administrator Kresta is waiting. He is already on the radio and communicating with the crew of the Raven, giving them directions on where to land.

Over the course of the next several hours, the officers on the Raven meet with Kresta, and from him, they get a lot of important information about the status of the system. While the intel officers are speaking with the Administrator, the members of Orion Squad are hailed as heroes by the miners of the asteroid, and they are trying to ply you with their home brewed liquor as they ask you questions about Earth.

While John has no objections to tying one on when he is off duty, he doesn't want to risk getting drunk on some alien brew while in the field, especially when he still has to fly his Alpha back to the Arwyn. So with that in mind, he politely declines the offer of a drink, but is happy to tell the Bearmen about Earth, all the while peppering them with questions of his own about Karbarra.
