"Welcome, dear students and colleagues, to an academy unlike most. An academy where the firing trajectory of a round is simple maths. Where the effects of white phosphorus are the norm in biology and chemistry classes. Where horsepower and kilowatts are stressed to the maximum in physical education. Weapon maintenance is a must, as is combat exercises. Why did I make a school like this?

It is a well known fact that those of extraordinary power walk this Earth, gifted individuals with abilities surpassing normal human ability. They who can change the face of the earth with a blink of an eye, and others who can reform it to its former self once more. And then there are those who inherit personalities or abilities from the inanimate long gone.

Including weapons. Weapons who have sacrificed for their masters, weapons who had been forgotten or thrown away. Weapons who deserve or yearn for a second chance.

Enough of that for now. I, Robert Hark, am your headmaster and tutor.

Welcome to RAW."

Hi there! I'm a new member of this site, but that doesn't mean I don't have a hint of roleplaying experience on me (okay, I'm not exactly pro, but I'll get there!). This is RAW, a roleplay I have created on a different site and I decided to port over here to see if you lot would take interest.

In this RP, you take on the role of a freshman Inheritant at the invite-only institute, Robert's Academy of Weaponry. What is an Inheritant you ask? Well, they're those who have been inherited!

*deafening silence*

Alright, more detail then.

What makes an Inheritant an Inheritant is that they are quite practically a lifeless object that has been destroyed, reborn into a human body. This could be anything from a common household plate to something like the Challenger shuttle. For further information, click the spoiler below.

The Hindus and Buddhists believe in reincarnation; the spiritual journey one has after death as they are reborn into a new body. It's said that this belief is centered upon the basic fact that there is no permanent soul, only a constant stream of consciousness that moves from one form into another.

Inheritants are usually based upon the same basic concept, but it begs the question as to how a weapon can have a consciousness to begin with. Experts in the field of the Extraordinary saw the Inheritant gene as a sub-category of the Extraordinary, while others saw it as a completely different form of superhuman ability. This could be due to a more 'intimate' bond between the Inheritance and the body it has taken form into. The first recorded Inheritant individual was in the 14th century, of an odd man in the Frankish Empire who had the ability to make a crossbow appear out of thin air. Though it is up to debate whether or not the individual was just an Extraordinary with telumkinesis, the real results started to appear further on in the 16th century, when a Portuguese individual, by the name of Daniel Nahaliel, who was said to have surfed on the waves of the Tagus River, using wooden legs, slinging a cannon across his back, and carrying cannon balls along his waist. It was later discovered by scientists and historians that his manifestation was of the Santa Maria, the same ship that had crossed the Atlantic and ran aground many years ago. Due to the man's surname, this ability had been known as the Nahaliel, later translated into English as 'Inheritance'.

Several theories as to how Inheritance works is that a weapon should have been destroyed or forgotten. This would mean that the weapon would have no longer existed in the human mind, possibly being buried into the ground or under the deep ocean. The weapon also does not necessarily disappear from its resting place; it becomes a brand new weapon that is suitable for the Inheritant. Common practice of purchasing and exhibiting a weapon in a museum, public, or one's home allows the weapon to rest in peace, and will not transfer into another Inheritance. This creates the theory that there will rarely ever be an Inheritant whose weapon comes from several centuries before his time. Collectors are key individuals in keeping Inheritance as a balanced level, whether or not they know it.

How it Works

Inheritance is always given from an object that has been destroyed, but those with more emotions attached to it from humans have the best chance of receiving a second chance. As a weapon has always been a soldier's closest ally, there is no doubt that there will be a much higher number of weapon Inheritants in comparison to others. After all, the drama of a craftsman can be conveyed through the tools he uses.

Usually a weapon Inheritance reveals itself to the Inheritant at a young age, during a moment of emotional distress. Albeit different in classes, the basic concept on how they appear is all similar: materialization. Many believe that the Inheritance has its own pocket dimension, where the weapon can be stored or taken out when the Inheritant wills it. Most young Inheritants don't know how to call upon or make an Inheritance disappear easily, with the weapons usually appearing during stress and vanishing when in a state of relaxation, like sleep.

In this theory, vehicles are actually full in their pocket dimension, but when materialized, they are fit to suit the body of the Inheritant, thus meaning that they cannot summon the entire package. This makes it much easier for gun Inheritants, who only have the gun and its ammunition to call upon, with the pistol Inheritants having the quickest draw time and reload speed out of any Inheritant.

For vehicle Inheritants however, it is rather complex. Armor will cover the body in correlation with the Inheritance's thickness, and on their legs will be given 'machine units', which are the vehicle Inheritant's means of propulsion. Ground vehicles have armored engine legs, which can be used in walking mode or deployed in 'tracked' or 'wheeled' mode. Aircraft make use of jet or propeller engine legs, with warships utilizing the unique propeller turbine boots, which are known for being more comfortable, with armor adjusted to still cover the legs where necessary.

What can you be, you might ask. Well...

Pistols, rifles, shotguns, grenade launchers, cannons you name it, you're the ever important Gun, the key weapon of the modern soldier ever since their debut in the 13th century! Every soldier, whether they're on land, in the sky, or at sea, will always have a gun issued to them. And you're one of them!

Wheeled or tracked, the warriors of mobile warfare, you're a Ground Vehicle! These kind of Inheritants make use of their ability to move around a vast battlefield with heavy weaponry at more speed than infantry, but Tanks usually have some trouble in urban settings due to their bulkier form.

Woah, you can fly? As expected from an Aircraft! With your ability to control the skies, or destroy ground targets from thousands of feet in the air, you're definitely one of the deadliest forces to be reckoned with!...

...That is until the Warships come into the fight! The Inheritants with the most firepower out of the four, Warships' only weakness is that they can only work in water! Makes for a great swimming team, that's for sure! Sadly, the government always manages to snatch the biggest ones away, so nobody in the school is bigger than a destroyer.

Back on topic, you will be spending this roleplay meeting other students, getting through the school year, making blocs (or rivals, whatever you want to call it), learning about weapons and their history, saving people's lives, and fighting off the odd alien invasion. All of which while trying to get a place on the elusive ranking list, where one can see just how well they place against other students, no matter if they're modern or historical. Speaking of which, the oldest weapons in the school are from 1895, so you're not getting to slice anyone, unless you're the poor soul who inherited a Ka-Bar.

More details are to come if I get enough interest for this.
