Tori
Tori nodded and followed Desmond down the hall. She gave a small laugh. Of all the ways to describe her roommate, "chipper" was definitely not one of them. Devon seemed like the brooding antisocial type. She hoped that they'd manage to get along at least somewhat. She hoped that their similarities wouldn't get too much in the way though. She was trying to better herself or whatever by not immediately glaring at someone when they tried to speak to her but she still wasn't that chatty person who would bring someone's walls down.

"I don't mind dealing with the antisocial type," Tori said. In fact, she preferred that over a roommate who would talk about some random crap every two seconds. She enjoyed being alike her roommate in that way. "I mean I was pretty much the epitome of the antisocial type yesterday," she smiled. Oh how getting sent to a prison school changes people.

Desmond nodded as he listened to her. He supposed anti social was better than a chatterbox or someone who always brought chaos and drama wherever they went. Suddenly Devon didn't seem so bad. Desmond chuckled. "One day and they've already reformed you." He looked over at her and winked. "It seems the reputation of the school precedes itself." He slid his hands into his pocket. His brother told him all about the school after he discovered his plan; he was nearly tied to a chair and forced to listen. His brother said the school would be his saving grace and would be the push he needed to get his life back on track.

Who knew though? Not everyone can be reformed and he wasn't sure if he wanted to try yet. He was testing the waters right now and he was curious about what he'd discover just below the surface. Was he even worth saving? Did he give up his right the moment he plotted someone else's demise? What made someone worthy of life? He let out a sigh as he reached the stairs. He held the door open for her. "I think I remember seeing a sign about the pool on the lower floors."

Tori
"I am a changed woman," Tori laughed. She really was, she hardly ever joked before. Something about her changed environment made her rethink everything she was doing. She was somehow pushed out of the I'm going to die alone mindset and into the I'm going to actually try mindset. It was strange, but working for her so far. For a second she was almost glad to be here. So far it had only brought good changes to her. But she remembered that she wouldn't be able to use computers freely and remembered that this was indeed prison.

She nodded and stepped through the door to the stairs he held open and started to go down the stairs. Her mind went back to what they were talking about in her room before her roommate entered. The situation he was in sounded sketchy but she didn't judge Desmond for it. She still wanted to know more about him though. "You said your brother sent you here, right?" she asked, "What's he like?" It was a slightly random question, but she liked learning about other's families.

A wide grin bloomed across June's lips as he fell into a deep bow. "Thank you for the compliments, miss." He followed her out the door and shut it behind him, briefly noticing some unfamiliar people down the hall but leaving that confrontation for another time. "I can do any accent you can imagine. I'm an accent jukebox," he jokingly bragged, shooting fingers gun and a wink in Harper's direction. It was one of his favorite party tricks; a telltale sign that he was drunk was his tendency to switch back and forth between Pakistani and Australian dialects.

As they left the room, Kailo muttered something about not feeling well, and June waved to her as she headed back to her room. He'd check in with her later, but for now, he wanted to get to know his roommate. While he liked Kai and definitely already worried about her, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to keep up with her energy all the time. On top of that, she was in love with a boy from home and June wasn't really looking for a relationship. If it came up naturally, he wouldn't be opposed to trying it out, but he didn't think he'd make the first move since it wasn't high on his priority list. So far, Harper seemed a bit more laidback, which he appreciated. And if he thought she was pretty, he definitely wasn't complaining.

Devon's singing came to a sudden halt as a new presence burst into his room. Frozen in place, he watched as the man danced along to some song in a provocative manner, moreso stunned by the fact that this was even happening than the dude's abilities. He had half a mind to acknowledge that this was probably his second roommate, and suddenly the air felt a lot heavier on his shoulders. 'There goes the peace and quiet,' he bemoaned mentally, barely concealing his displeasure at the sudden intrusion.

With a sigh, he rubbed his temples and sat up, about to make his presence known, when another face popped into his room with an overeager expression that reminded Devon of a child who had found his brother's porn stash. 'Oh, fuck no. Absolutely fucking not.' This one definitely didn't live here based on his apparent lack of luggage, and something about him being in the room anyways just to hit on his new roommate made the older boy finally break his silence. "Hey, excuse me? Stranger? Just because my bedroom door happens to be cracked open doesn't mean your little chapped, sunburnt, toad looking ass is invited inside," he hissed, eyes narrowed as he stared unflinchingly at the newcomer. Devon had a relatively soft, pretty face when relaxed, but those same features could contort into something downright menacing if he wanted them to.

And more often that not, he wanted to.

Desmond grinned at her response. "It looks good on you," he said as he followed her down the stairs. When she mentioned his brother he paused a moment. His brother, the reason he was here instead of being tried as an adult. He took a deep breath as they stepped out of the stairwell. "Yeah, he sent me here." And didn't have time to travel with him. "Damon, well, he's short." Desmond rested his hand at his shoulder. "But one of the scariest guys I've ever met." Back when Desmond was a punk, which was last year, he though he could take him but he was sorely mistaken. His brother pinned him, but Damon had a lot more muscle and weight than Desmond did.

"He's not like me at all. He's outgoing, loud, and sometimes overly concerned." Which were qualities Desmond respected and admired about him. "Everyone likes him." He shrugged. "I get my sarcasm from him, but not much else." The brothers looked alike, aside from height and build; they both had high cheek bones, square face, brown eyes and hair. The resemblance was uncanny. "What about you? Who is in your box?" He asked. He was hurt when his brother hadn't come, but it didn't take him long to get over it. He knew Damon was always supporting him, even if it didn't feel like it.

Harper giggled as he shot her a dorky expression. "I'm sure that makes all the girls swoon," she said with a smile. Hopefully Kailo would feel better soon. "Where to first 'oh great and wise accent jukebox'?" The closest she'd ever encountered a foreign person was the Asian man who worked at the Chinese restaurant down the road from her apartment; he was nice though and always threw in extra Wontons for them. "Do you ever pretend to be Australian?" She asked. If she had mastery over accents she'd pretend to be from a different country every day. The thought of leave the States was tantalizing. She couldn't imagine how beautiful another country must be.

And those British boys with their accents, she'd definitely go to England first. Maybe Australia, they had nice accents too. "So, since we'll be stuck with each other, might as well get to know one another," she said with a smile. "An important fact is my love for food." She chuckled. "Any food. You know how they say that a way to a mans heart is through his stomach? Well, works for girls too." She nodded as she looked up at June. He was rather tall compared to her 5'4, but it wasn't anything new since most people towered over her.

"Only the girls that don't fall for my killer dance moves first," June joked, dopey smile failing to cease. The dark thoughts that seemed to plague him nonstop when he was with the other students drifted to the back of his mind, his new roommate bringing a lightheartedness with her that he found everyone else lacking. He was really, truly grateful that they were going to be living together. "I pretend to be Australian all the time. New Zealand, Britain, Scotland, France; they're all way easier than pretending to be Pakistani, even though I'm half," he admitted with a chuckle. "I'm white passing as hell, so the accent doesn't really convince anyone."

He gestured to their left as they reached a split in the hall, gently guiding Harper with a hand on her shoulder before dropping it back to his side. "This way, love. There's something I saw on that map that I want to check out." As they walked, June laughed at her insistence on getting to know each other via fun facts. "Food. Okay. Got it. Noted in case I piss you off at any point in the future. I haven't had anything other than instant ramen and easy mac since I started making my own food, to be honest. I can't cook for shit." With a sheepish grin, he rubbed the back of his neck.

June stared at the ceiling and laced his fingers behind his head, stretching and wondering what he should share about himself. There were so many facts he had already told the other inmates, and he was somewhat tired of repeating the same things over and over. "Hm, let's see... I like... I like the world at night," he said, voice soft and contemplative. "Like, when you're alone outside and you can hear the wind blowing through the trees, and the bugs all suddenly sound like a chorus." He paused. "At night, there's no one to hear your thoughts except the moon, you know? Everything looks calm in the moonlight. I really like that feeling."

The boy mentally flicked himself for bring so emo so quickly; he had a tendency to get carried away by the things he was passionate about. "I've never told anyone that before. Oops. Aren't you a special lady?" he teased, nudging Harper's side with his elbow. "That actually ties in with where we're heading. Upstairs, Miss." June steered them towards a staircase leading up another two levels where he had seen the words 'Planetarium' and 'Observatory' marked on the map.

"Now those, I must see," she said with a short laugh. "I've been known to knock the boys dead with my killer moves." She grinned, but it was false. "Literally." she added with a wink. Her dance moves were dreadful and she didn't feel right lying to him. June was so easy going and kind; maybe lying wasn't a great way to start out with her roommate, plus she'd be seeing a lot of him. She'd have to be more careful. "That's so cool." She nodded, her hair bouncing up and down wildly. "I wish I could speak in an accent. I think I could do Boston, that's it." She shrugged her thin shoulders. "You're half Pakistani, wow." She gave him a small smile at his last comment.

He was an easy guide to follow, gently and knowledgeable. "I'm not a horrible cook, I mean, I burnt pasta once and was forever given a bad rep from my mother." She chuckled. "Ramen is good and I love mac and cheese. I can also make brownies and cake in a mug. It's a great talent to possess." She nodded with a smile across her lips. She looked at their surroundings, scolding herself for not paying more attention. She'd have to familiarize herself with the school and getting distracted wouldn't help her case. All the hallways looked the exact same.

The world at night, it sounded so peaceful. Sometimes she'd sneak onto the roof of their apartment complex, but it wasn't often that she could. The grounds keeper spent a lot of time on the roof with his strange looking plants. His words brought a visual representation to her mind as she thought about it, the chirping of the bugs, the glow of the moon, and the slight cool air that night brought. "Yeah," her voice was soft. "That sounds like a poem." She clasped her hands together. "Whenever my mother and I would visit my grandmother, she lives in the country, we'd sit outside for hours watching the fireflies." There was something so incredible about the fireflies on the old country yard. Her mother always said it was her favourite place in the world and Harper was inclined to agree with her.

She glanced over at June and she chuckled as his elbow gently touched her side. "I'm honoured." She placed her hand on her chest. "Roommate privileges rock," she added with a chuckle. Her brown eyes focused on the room labels. "No way." Excitement knotted her stomach. "I'm so glad that I'm rooming with you. You know all the best places, Oh Wise one." She was pumped to see what wonders awaited them. This school seemed to steadily get better and she hoped it would continue to rise. She hadn't met many people, but the ones she did meet seemed pretty nice.

Tori
Tori listened as Desmond spoke about his brother. Although he probably disliked the fact that he sent him to this school, she thought that it was neat that he had someone that cared about him enough to keep him out of trouble. She didn't really have a family to go back to at home. She had her tití Beatriz who she didn't consider her family, only her legal guardian. The two hated each other. It was clear that the woman only saw her as a burden.

She let out a breathy laugh before she spoke. "At home it's just me and my dear, dear tití Beatriz," Tori said, voice dripping with sarcasm. She shook her head, running her fingers through her hair. "She hates me. I hate her. Not much more to it. She was just ecstatic when I was sent here. Other than that there's really nobody. I don't care about anyone and no one cares about me," a hint of her frown lingered on her face. "I don't really mind it though," she forced herself back into a small smile. She didn't want to bring the mood down too much.

June breathed out a relieved sigh as Harper shared his sentiment about the night time views. "That sounds beautiful," he commented thoughtfully. "The stars are brightest in the country, too. Maybe we'll see some of that here, since where in the middle of nowhere." As they talked, the older boy led them down the hall to the first door they came across, which happened to be the planetarium. This wing of the floor seemed to serve primarily as a home for the observatory, with the way the walls were covered with research posters and scientific diagrams of the cosmos. June knew he'd be spending a lot of time here.

Upon entering the room, June's eyes widened in awe. Purple neon lights adorned the entire space, bringing the rows of seats and blank dome above into view of the students. In the back corner, a single touch screen lit up with options for the projector, and June wasted no time in racing towards it. "Yes, way. Sit down," he urged, excitement coating his voice. Scanning the menu with intense concentration, he settled on a simulated view of a clear night sky devoid of light pollution before taking a seat directly in the middle and waiting for the dome to light up.

Once the animation began, June's gaze was fully captivated. "Whoa," he gasped, not expecting such high resolution from the ages old school. They were tailored towards the gifted, so he should have assumed that their technology would be up to date, but he really hadn't given it much thought. Bursts of color and clusters of stars covered the dome, leaving nothing hidden behind pesky city lights. "Was your grandma's kind of like this?" he asked Harper, glancing at her briefly before his attention returned to the constellations.

Spencer Jennings

Spencer entered the building quietly, carrying her guitar case that was plastered with stickers, and old suitcase Granny had given her, and her backpack from school. Ever since the flood and her and her brother moving, she hadn't had many items that she held dear. Her guitar, songbook, and journal were all she really cared about, and she didn't have many clothing items. She put the student handbook into her nearly empty backpack and began to look around. The place seemed huge, even bigger than her old high school. There were other students walking around, chatting and laughing, so Spencer couldn't help but feel out of place. These people looked so... normal. Either this place was going to be better than she thought, or it would be a living hell.

She had money bet on the latter, but Granny told her to be optimistic. I've lost two homes at this point, so who cares about being optimistic? Her mind wandered to those kinds of thoughts as she glanced at the dorm area. I just hope I'm ready for this mess.

Desmond watched Tori. Her mood shifted and the smile at the end seemed fake to him. Everyone wanted someone to care for them, it was simply a fact of life. People were meant to do life together, it was how society functioned. Sometimes he hated that fact, but he couldn't deny the truth of the statement. He was curious about what happened to her parents, but the topic seemed so sour that he wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to bring it up. No one caring for her seemed false. How can someone have absolutely no one in their life that cares or cared for them?

"Consider yourself cared about," Desmond said as he scanned the school. His brown eyes rested on a girl with teal hair and a serious RBF, but that didn't mean much, Tori had one of those when they'd met. The girl strode by them with her guitar in hand and headed toward the dorms. She wasn't bad looking either. His gaze rested on Tori and he smiled; he genuinely liked her and was glad he'd bumped into in her hallway. "So, about swimming." he chuckled. "I'm not going to let it go until you agree."

"It was," Harper said quietly. She hadn't visited her grandmother in years, but the memories were fresh, as if a day hadn't gone by. When her father was put in prison, that's when everything changed. She reached up and touched the bandana on her forehead before dropping her arm at her side again. So many things happened since then and the one she missed the most was her grandmother. "I hope so. I miss the stars." She gave June a small smile, her mind overrun with frustration; why couldn't her father have been a better man? She focused her attention on the hallway, now wasn't the time to drift.

When they walked into the room, the walls were adorn with posters of facts, diagrams, and orbital photos. It was an amazing sight to behold and her excitement was restored. June took off running and she'd barely had time to survey the room before she raced after him. Harper moved and sat in the middle row, it provided the best view to see the entire screen. As June fiddled with the projector Harper took this time to glance around the room. The purple lights were a nice addition, at first it seemed bizarre, but the more she looked at them the more she liked them. Her brown eyes glanced over at June as he moved toward her.

The screen shifted, no longer blank, but now it exploded with colours, the stars, the sky, everything was entrancing. A smile slowly tugged at her lips as the dome changed. Wow, it reminded her of her grandmother's country home. "Yeah," she said. "God, it just makes me miss it even more." She glanced over at June, his focus was on the dome above them. She chuckled as she saw the reflection of the stars in his eye. He reminded her of a kid going to Disney for the first time, the excitement and joy completely contagious. "This is incredible." She glanced up again. "You must have seen some amazing skies during your travels." Her itch to travel only increased.

Tori
"Thanks," Tori looked up at Desmond and genuinely smiled. It was nice to know that more people cared about her here in less than a day than the home she'd been in for three years. This place was feeling like less and less of a hell hole by the minute. The whole ordeal wouldn't be that bad. She'd met a few people she could stand and would be able to use computers whenever possible in whatever computer labs were there. She glanced at a girl with blue hair passing by them.

She laughed and shook her head when Desmond brought up the swimming thing again. She didn't particularly like doing things she knew she didn't know how to unless she knew she could easily learn it quickly. She wasn't completely sold on going swimming. Desmond's offer to teach her was nice though, maybe she would give it a try. "I'll think about it," Tori grinned. She glanced at a sign with an arrow showing where a computer lab was. She'd have to keep where it was in mind for the future.

Thorn

Too focused on the music and dancing, Thorn didn't immediately notice the man who had followed him. It was only when he heard the other male speak, did he look at the man from his position on his hands and knees on the floor. He was rather caught off guard. Thorn, despite what one may think, wasn't used to be flirted with first. Sure, when he started flirting it was usually reciprocated but even then it was always him initiating the interaction so the fact someone actually went out their way to flirt with him was a major boost to his confidence. Regaining his composure, he moved into a kneeling position with hands on his knees as he looked up at the other male in the doorway.
He hummed, observing the blond as a sultry smirk appeared on his plump tiers before he began to open his mouth to speak only to be cut off when he saw someone move in his peripheral view. Turning his head, he looked at the Devon with slightly wide eyes, wondering how he hadn't noticed someone that handsome before. He was tempted to say something but Devon beat him to it and the man's words made him snort. In Thorn's opinion, Gabe wasn't bad looking but he still couldn't help but find the insult funny. Trying not to smile, he took out his phone before taking off his music while saying in his position on the floor.
"Now that's not very nice, he's kinda cute actually. Maybe a bit cocky and his use of 'hot stuff' is rather cringy but still cute." He said, chuckling and flipping his hair over his shoulder. He looked at Devon again, noting the glare but not feeling all that intimidated, glares pale in comparison to the barrel of guns.

June's gaze returned to the girl next to him, wondering if she was as genuine as her words made her seem. There was an undertone to her voice that made him believe she was much more complex than she let on, and although he was curious, he wanted to learn about her through a mutual trust rather than any sort of prying. If they were going to spend the next year together, he would prefer not to make his roommate uncomfortable on the first day.

"Hm..." he thought aloud, trying to formulate the experience into words. "The thing about that, is that the skies are all different, yeah, but they're still kind of the same, you know?" June looked back up at the stars, a soft smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "The trees, and the buildings, and even the air around you is all new and foreign, but the sky is still just... the sky. Different constellations, different planets, but the same feeling. You can look up in Copenhagen and see the same moon that you'd see in Tijuana, or Islamabad, or here. It's always by your side, no matter where you go."

June glanced over to Harper to gauge her expression, hoping that she understood despite his poor attempt at explaining. A certain someone always used to call him her "moonchild" due to the amount of love in his heart for the sky, and as much as he hated that corny name, it was honestly pretty accurate. "We're all children of the moon," he murmured softly to himself, quoting what that person had once told him under a starry night in the city.

"He can look like a fucking Build-A-Bear, I don't give a damn," Devon countered through gritted teeth, rolling his eyes at his new roommate's taste in men. There was nothing he hated more than people who weren't considerate of his space, and something told him this white dude would fit the bill. "If he so much as breathes on that door knob again without permission, I'll show him what the walls of his intestines look like."

With a scowl at the realization that it would be a lot less effort to just give them the room and come back before curfew, Devon hopped off the bed and slipped on a pastel yellow hoodie. After plugging his headphones back into his ears, he headed towards door but paused halfway through. The older boy slowly turned to glare at the intruding student, making sure he knew he was on his radar. "When I get back, you're gone." With that, he stepped through the door and shut it behind him.

'What the hell am I supposed to do for half an hour?' he cursed mentally, bitter at the whole encounter. Devon wasn't angry---if he was truly angry, they'd all know it. An angry Devon was a terrifying force of nature. No, he was more so just irritated, like he had been all day prior to taking a swim. He sighed and headed down the hall, figuring he'd just take a walk to cool off before heading back. As he rounded the corner, however, all thoughts of pesky students escaped him as he noticed a girl looking for her room. Her hair was a shocking teal that contrasted with her pale skin, and if Devon thought it looked pretty badass, he didn't show any indication of it on his face. "Hey. You," he addressed, not thinking before approaching her but keeping a good distance. "You lost or something?"

Spence turned to the boy who had spoken to her. He looked vaguely intimidating and somewhat pissed off. She didn't understand why he was, though, and didn't want to make his mood worse. "I mean I just got here, so I know fuck-all about the layout. I'm just heading to the area where I might find my dorm." She had to look up to attempt to make 'proper eye contact' as her grandmother put it. The boy was tall, much taller than her, and had much more muscle. Definitely intimidating.

Maybe if I make some allies early, this won't be so bad. Spencer thought. She met his eyes with a calm, nonchalant expression. "And who might you be?"

Devon raised an eyebrow, expression still stony but a little less pinched than it once was. As backwards as it was, he felt much more comfortable when people swore in casual conversation like himself. It made him feel like he didn't have to censor himself. Not that he ever did, anyways. "You're in the right area. The dorms are all around that corner." He pointed over his shoulder to the area behind him before shoving his hands in his pockets.

When the girl straightened up and looked him right in the eyes, Devon did something he had never done before: he instantly decided he liked her. She carried herself in way that seemed much more mature than the other students he had encountered so far, from what he could tell of their first day. "Devon," he introduced, voice deep but not booming as his gaze flicked over her attire before returning to her eyes. "You?"

Spencer couldn't help but smirk at the boy's reaction. She was making an impression already. "I'm Spencer," she replied, moving her unbuttoned flannel off her shoulders to reveal her black tank top underneath. "I'd love to stay and chat, but my arms are killing me from carrying all of this shit. Besides, I have to go on a hunt for my actual dorm room. I guess I'll see you later, Devon." She smiled as she walked off.

Impression made, Spence thought to herself as she walked. Let's hope its a positive one. It took her a hot minute, but she eventually found her room. She opened the door and found the place empty. My roommates must be exploring. Whatever. She dropped her bags next to the empty bed and plopped onto it. For a while, she laid there silently until she sat up, grabbed her guitar case, opened it, and pulled out her guitar. The thing was almost new, only a couple years old, and plastered in as many stickers as the case. Feeling whimsical, she began to play an old tune that her brother had loved.

"Not quite a yes, but I'll take it. For now," he said smiling at Tori. He laughed when he saw the computer lab. "You were planning this all along, weren't you?" He teased lightly. "Where did you learn all your techie smarts?" His brother taught him the most about the world, but there were certain things others taught him. Too bad they didn't have mechanics here; he loved working with his hands. Doing stuff with his hands was a way for him to think and process.

"Do you know if they have a music room?" Drums, his other relaxing activity. He was eager to play the drums again. This place was more than just a place for kids with a record; the advertisement he saw talked about the creative "outlets" that the school had for the students with checkered pasts. They had to have one. Dang, he needed a map of some sort. He ran his fingers through his hair, they could always stop and ask, but he didn't want to do that.

Harper bit her lip. "I guess that was a stupid question," she spoke quietly. Of course the sky would look relatively the same. He was so kind about her stupidity. How could she have neglected to count those facts? The sky was always the sky. She nodded. "Yeah. That makes sense though. I guess I was more focused on what it would feel like to be in a different place and look up at the sky." She glanced over at him. "You're a pretty cool dude, June." She smiled. Her mother would like him, but not approve of the fact that he was a male roommate. She decided she would leave those facts out, plus June could easily pass as a girls name and her mum would be none the wiser.

She was glad she was stuck with him though. Something about him was so real, maybe because he was stuck in this place like she was. Most of her "friends" back home were rather shallow. They were focused on themselves and their drama, but she didn't have time for that. Her mother struggled to pay the bills and she thought stealing and selling her goods was contributing. If she brought money home it was one less thing her mother had to worry about, but she'd messed that up too. That stupid old man, she'd never blame herself for her poor choices. The old guy was the reason she was here and she'd stick to that story.

Harper glanced up at the dome. It was mesmerizing. "Children of the moon," her voice was soft as she repeated his words. It was an interesting concept, but she didn't fully understand it. June was unlike many people she'd met, he was so well traveled and that gave him something extra special. She hoped she wasn't making too bad of a first impression and she didn't want him thinking she was some sort of idiot. Sure she had her own daft and clueless moments, but she'd never label herself as an unintelligent individual. Maybe just unintelligent when she tried math, but she didn't struggle in any other subjects.

Gabe
Gabe smirked as the guy who was laying on the bed insulted him. The insults were... devastating but he thought it was funny that the guy was so worked up over this. He had a nasty habit of annoying people, so he wasn't phased by getting told off. He simply stayed quiet as the hod dancing guy and angry guy argued. Apparently the hot dancing guy thought he was cute. He didn't care about the negative thoughts expressed though. He never did. He remained un phased when angry guy spoke to him. "Have fun beautiful," she smirked as angry guy left.

He turned his attention back to the hot dancing guy. "I'm Gabe," he grinned, "What's your name, hot stuff?" This time he emphasized his use of "hot stuff" simply because the guy said it was cringy. Gabe found it fun to irritate people and enjoyed the entertainment of it.

Tori

Tori grinned when Desmond noticed the computer lab sign. "I am an evil genius of course," she laughed. She glanced into the computer lab as they passed it. They had some nice computers in there, she was honestly quite exited to try some stuff out. Still, she didn't want to deter them from their journey to the pool, wherever it was. She really needed to figure out the geography of the school. She got a map from initiation but she must've left it in June's room. Oh well, she could just get it tomorrow.

She could swear she felt her heart skip a beat when Desmond asked the question about where she learned her tech stuff. She'd just gone through mom drama and she didn't want to trigger anything again. Thankfully for her, he also asked about a music room so she decided to answer that first. "I think they mentioned a music room during initiation," she replied. She decided that the best way to answer the first question was quickly. After her little breakdown she felt a bit prone to tears with the subject so she wanted to avoid those. "M-my mom taught me," she said a bit shakily.

Desmond shook his head as he laughed at her comment. "Not as reformed as I initially believed," he said with a grin. "Old habits die hard." He shrugged as he looked down at her. Hopefully they'd stumble across the pool or something else that was cool. From the size of this place, they had to have some nice things hidden away. "Sweet. They probably have a drum set," he spoke quietly, more for himself than anyone else.

Desmond eyes widened for a moment before they returned to normal. Be cool. Change the subject. "Cool. Do you like music? Or play an instrument?" He asked. That subject seemed pretty touchy and he wasn't all that great at dealing with other peoples emotions. The last thing he wanted to do was upset her. Music was typically safe, at least he hoped. "I'm not sure if I mentioned it earlier, but I play the drums. I've been told I'm pretty good too." He softly laughed before he ran his fingers through his hair. He felt a little uncomfortable because he'd made her uncomfortable. Damon was a great brother and he'd shared a lot of wisdom with Desmond, but the emotional aspect of life was lacking a bit. The boys were pretty bottled up, they'd scream and yell months after building up anger and frustration. Then they'd be find again for the next two months. Sometimes it was a viscous cycle.

Tori
Tori shrugged. "Music is cool," she said, "I've never had a passion for it. But, I mean, who doesn't like music?" She let out a tiny laugh, it was more of a nervous laugh than anything else. She felt a little awkward about the previous subject but was glad Desmond didn't ask anything further. She appreciated people who didn't pry when it wasn't necessary. She felt bad that she might've made him uncomfortable though. She was terrible at her emotions and anyone else's emotions, she was pretty much just terrible with emotions in general. She wished that she could be better at dealing with things but she just wasn't. And up until now she didn't want to do anything to change that.

"That's cool," she smiled and looked up at him, "I'd like to hear you play sometime." A sign with lots of arrows caught her eye, it looked like some sort of directory. Tori paused for a moment to read it then spotted an arrow pointing to where the pool should be. She took a step around the corner it was pointing to and sure enough she saw a sign by a door that showed it to lead to the pool. She was pretty exited to check it out. She was planning to say yes to going to swim with Desmond, but didn't let that show. For now, she'd just go check it out with him.

"What? No, that's not a stupid question at all," June reassured, eyes wide, surprised, and a little taken aback as he stared at Harper. She seemed introspective all of a sudden, and he didn't know if that was a good thing. He'd learned in his short time here that, more often than not, these kids' backstories weren't very pleasnat on the ears. "I've seriously never talked about this before with anyone else. I'm enjoying myself, so please don't stress." While he would normally laugh the comments off and make a joke to lighten the mood, he didn't want to trivialize this topic. For someone who was notoriously bad at coping with his own thoughts and feelings, it was coming rather easily to him in the short time he had known Harper, and he didn't take that lightly.

After gazing at her in silence for another moment, June returned his attention to the starscape, brow furrowing only for a second before relaxing again. "You're cool, too. It's been a hell of a long day. I needed this," he hummed, tapping his fingers on the armrest along to some silent beat. His eyes dilated imperceptibly when she repeated after him, as he didn't think she'd heard him, but he didn't acknowledge it. That was a story for another time, if ever.

"But let's walk and talk, yeah? I think curfew is in, like, fifteen minutes." June got to his feet, taking his time as his joints popped loudly, before holding out a hand to help Harper up.

Devon's eyes lazily followed her movements as she revealed her small shoulders, the exposed skin much paler than his own tan complexion. 'Yeah, she knows exactly what she's doing,' he thought as she bid him farewell and walked around him, a half-smile threatening to tug at his lips. He stood there for a bit longer, not entirely sure of the reason, but doing it anyways. What he hadn't been expecting, however, was to hear the soft, muted chords of a guitar in the distance, barely discernible over the hum of the air conditioning. "Damn, okay," he muttered, raising an eyebrow and listening for a moment longer before shrugging and carrying on his way.

There wasn't much time before curfew, but he didn't want to risk running back into the Distressing Duo currently occupying his space. Devon wasn't sure what else to do other than slum it in a classroom somewhere until then, because like hell if he was gonna sit in the hallway like a reject. After wandering down to the first floor and exploring for a couple minutes, he found himself in a miniature courtyard, no larger than the waiting room they had been dropped in that morning. It cut through the several floors above, giving a clear view of the cloudy night sky blocking out the view. Devon found he liked it regardless.

With a far more relaxed sigh, Devon plopped down on the singular wooden bench surrounded rose bushes and revelled in the crisp silence. He'd have to make a mental note of how he got here. Due to his dorm being a triple, he knew he'd never get any alone time in that shoebox of a room. On top of that, it looked like his two roommates had already made plenty of friends that would probably be visiting relatively often, and Devon hoped to avoid encountering that in any way, shape, or form. He wasn't a social person by any definition of the word, which was part of why his fists often came before his words, and he didn't want that to manifest here if he could avoid it.

And yet, he found himself a little pained at the thought of being stuck in this prison for the rest of his senior year with no one by his side. While he coped fairly well on his own, he always had two people in particular who would force him out of his shell and bring light into his life. With them, Devon learned how to be warm and attentive, how to provide support to those in need, how to protect the people he loved. That side of him would forever remain a mystery to these people, who ran around like they were thirteen and never planned on growing past that age. Except, maybe Spencer. Maybe, potentially, he could learn to trust that one.

Desmond gazed down at the short brunette with a small smile. "Music is cool." He chuckled. "I'm mostly passionate about drums though" He shrugged his broad shoulders. He'd tried other instruments, but it was nothing compared to the feeling he got when he played drums. The beat echoed in his chest and it was actually kind of cathartic for him. When he pounded on each of them - the high hat, the snare, the cymbals - it allowed him to release the emotions he'd been harbouring for so long. "When we find the music room, I'll show you what I'm made of." He laughed before saying, "It's also a great way to release tension. You'd probably enjoy it too." She seemed like the kind of girl who bottled things up.

Desmond followed her gaze before moving around the corner beside. Finally, they found it. "I hope it's big," he said as he moved toward it. "Maybe we'll go swimming tomorrow." He raised his brow at he looked over at Tori. "Of course we'll start at the shallow end." This pool better be deep. He hated pools where he could touch the bottom regardless of where he swam. It seemed pointless to have a pool that shallow.

Harper met his steady gaze as his eyes widened slightly. Those words brought her comfort and she suddenly felt self-conscious. She tucked her hair behind her ear and spoke quietly, "I needed to hear that." She looked away from him. Everything felt so serious and her desire to crack a joke echoed throughout her mind. It didn't seem appropriate, but her rising heartbeat pounded in her ears. "Totally unstressed." A small smile crept on her face as she glanced at the young man beside her. "And grateful," she added at almost a whisper. When he looked back at the world above them she sighed.

She needed it too. She hated being away from her mother and it wasn't because she was a 'mama's girl,' it was more than that. The neighbourhood she lived in wasn't the safest and she always felt better knowing her mother wasn't alone. Harper pretended that she could protect her mother if any bad happened, but not being there didn't provide any comfort; the illusion worked best in a close proximity. The only upside was that they lived on the second floor and that deterred intruders. Sometimes she felt silly for thinking this way, her mother had been on her own before and Harper probably wouldn't do well in a fight. But she worried about her anyway.

Harper nodded and said, "Oh-Yeah." Having a curfew made sense and now she really wished she made it to orientation, she felt so behind. The loud pops took her off guard and she laughed before taking his hand. He pulled her to her feet. "June, are you secretly an old man?" She looked up at the man before her. "That would explain so much." Her eyes widened as a bright smile crept onto her face. He was kinder than she deserved.

Right now, June probably thought she was a somewhat decent person and she was afraid for him to find out the truth. If she thought about it too much she would grow angry with herself; her actions were deplorable and she disgusted herself, but her impulsive desires were stronger than her good conscience.

Tori
Tori smiled as she pushed open the doors of the pool. She glanced around the room. It was huge. Although she was a bit nervous at the thought of trying something new, she was pretty exited as well. "Sure," She smiled up at Desmond, "We can meet up after classes tomorrow." She was planning to put up a bit of a fight before agreeing to go swimming because she was stubborn as hell, but she honestly wanted to and was at this point to tired to fight anything. She glanced up at the clock on the wall. It was getting pretty late. "We should probably go up in like 10 minutes, so we have time to get to our rooms before curfew," she suggested, "Wouldn't want to miss it on the first day."

She walked up to the edge of the pool. The end looked deep. She'd be lying if she said it didn't phase her at all. Tori was someone who usually preferred to stick to what she was good at. She walked over to the other end, which was shallow, and took off her shoes and sat at the edge. She sighed. The whole day was a bit wearing on her and she was quite exhausted.

"Testy Testy." Thorn hummed, chuckling as he watched Devon walk out of the room in a huff before shrugging and standing up. He stretched, arms in the air before he began walking over to the bed with a sway to his hips. Bending over, he grabbed his bag before blinking when Gabe spoke again. Rolling his eyes at the use of 'Hot Stuff', he chuckled and turned around. "Thorn." He said, sitting down on his bed and taking off his heels before beginning to pull off his thigh high socks, clearly unaffected by the blond man's attempt at irritating him. "So do you usually walk in strangers' rooms and try to flirt with them or am I a special case?"
