Once there was a League of Extraordinary people. Some were born of unusual circumstances. Some were created to be monsters. Some were accidents in the pursuit of knowledge. Some were self made in pursuit of nobler pursuits.

Some of them crossed paths with one another as enemies. Some sought their own demise for fear of bringing harm to humanity. Some abandoned humanity bereft of hope for the future.

They banded together around the turn of the century and for a time held hope that humanity might finally see the dawn of a new era. Then came the War to End All Wars. When that war ended they decided it was time finally to disband and they all sought quieter days. Then, once more, the call to arms by mad men brought them together - unwillingly mind you. For one of their members, had had enough of mankind's insanity and sought to resurrect an old science to rewrite history. His name was Wells - Herbert George Wells.

They say Time heals all things. But in their fight to stop the madness he planned to unleash his invention exploded and the League was forever lost. Or so we thought…

Characters
Our heroes are mostly legendary beings. They are the epitome of antiheroes. Here in the 21st century their level of violence may not go over well. Maybe at first, but once they have pacified the criminal world, what will civilized society think of them? Can they adapt to the present era?

Frankenstein’s Monster (Adam) - this character should be much like the one in the movie I, Frankenstein (ignore all the gargoyle stuff).

Dr Jeckyl / Mr Hyde. - this one is the Victorian Era equivalent of the Hulk. And like the Marvel Hulk, the two have begun to see eye to eye. One handles the science. The other handles the fights. Nowhere near as powerful as the Hulk, but still no lightweight. His strength doesn’t grow with rage. But it is born of primal instincts and savagery guided by intelligence. (My Hyde has a broad vocabulary.

Invisible Man - not exactly a powerhouse. He will need some work on his origin story. Maybe a scientist? Alternatively this could be a woman.

Nikola Tesla - based on the one in the TV series Sanctuary. Basically a vampire hybrid. Try youtube for videos of him. You really need to see those. Love the personality.

John Druitt - alias Jack the Ripper, though he no longer goes by that name. Also from the Sanctuary TV show There are videos on youtube about him, but essentially he could teleport by becoming energy. (He could get through EM fields.)

Captain Nemo - the Nautilus wasn’t at the scene of the explosion and may yet exist, though after 80 years ...

Phantom - alias Erik Giovanni - based largely on the character in the book by this name. Only he did not die in the 19th century, but rejuvenated. He might be amused to learn about his biography being made public - and an opera about the most embarrassing moments of his life made famous.

Amelia Earheart -

Annie Oakley -

I will entertain some others (especially some female roles to balance this out a bit), but they MUST be iconic and from the late 19th century to early 20th. I am using an alternate timeline, so this is workable.

Plot
In 1943, the team went up against a former member who went mad - HG Wells. Wells had always been an optimist and thought the world would finally find peace. Then WW2 came along and his dreams of peace were shattered. The League reunited once more to stop Wells, In the final fight the time machine exploded and the team was lost. But it wasn’t forever as the world thought. It has been some 80 years, but for the League only an instant has passed. Rather than being lost they were thrown through time.

Setting
Earth of the year 2023 is nothing like the world of 1943. This world is much like the city of Gotham in the TV series by that name. It is dark, corrupt, and decadent. There are good people in the world. But it is no longer safe to walk the streets at night. Even the daytime isn’t as safe as it once was.

To be continued ...

Well, I till live. We would need more people to play some of the other characters.
