future general.jpgDont worry he doesnt look that ugly xD Or evil.

Name: Lucius Martell

Age: 80

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Squad role: He was the Director of the Fury Program

Current occupation: General/Govenor of Mars

History: Lucius, also known as Luke had grown up a young boy on Earth, he was quite the adventurous boy, always seeking new things. His father and mother had served in the Terran Military and so he followed their footsteps. He enlisted in the Terran Empires military and trained hard. He climbed the ranks quickly due to his natural skill, potential, and a little help from his parents former service. Eventually he was offered the task of directing a new task force. The "Furies" just the sound of the new offer intrigued him, but once he learned more about the group and their capabilities he couldnt resist. And so he took on the task of directing this new group. He soon got to know them and grew fond of them, almost as if they were his new family. After all both his parents were killed in service to the Terran Empire. When he got the news that the task force was to be disbanded he felt a genuine pain in his heart, over the years he had come to care about each one of them individually and it truly pained him to see them go. Alas they went off into the universe and did what they chose and slowly he lost contact with each of them. One by one. Now he has been given the Title of General and Governor of Mars and is charged with its protection and security within the Terran Empire.

personality: Lucius is a caring man, he would do anything for those he considers friends and will treat them with the utmost respect. Although he may be kind and understanding if you cross him, or those close to him he will not hesitate to do what is he deems fair, whether that be kill you, beat you, imprison you. He is an excellent strategist and his intellect is beyond most military officers. Unlike most officers he listens to all those under him, at least those who speak there mind  and say what they have to say before making a final ruling.

Skills/Abilities/Tech:

Tech:

Standard Rifle and pistol and armor that would be given to a general of the military.

The ability to call a orbital bombardment along with a supply of 200,000,000 troops and a fleet of ships ready to obey his command.

He carries two twin military grade Swords on his back for close combat. When not in his armor he has a singular sword at his hip along with a pistol.

Skills:

CQC Expert: He is highly skilled in Close Quarters Combat and can hold his own if not best any opponent (Not furies, can probably only contend with them for a little while before losing) in hand to hand or when using melee weapons.

Marksman: He is accurate and precise with most of his shots, due to years of training he is quite skilled when it comes to shooting a firearm

Strategist: His knowledge of both being a officer and a grunt give him a excellent sense of military strategy and he is known to have never lost a battle and has been the head of the defense of Mars for years due to this.

Quick thinker: He is a quick thinker and can usually get him or someone out of a sticky situation due to his ability to think quickly even when under pressure.

Abilities: None (not a fury so he isnt special xD)

Extra: He would naturally know all Furies and vice versa

Mars, Venus, or mercury. There are five generals for the Terran empire. Earth and the asteroid belt are off limits because I have plans for them. The Terran military doesn't have branches like the modern military. They are one large unit with a wide range of specialists

Damn man, you should have told me about this earlier. Eh, it's no big deal so I'll adjust quickly.

sorry bro the answers come as the questions do, I live your post btw you really captured the Terran empire moral values well.

Thanks, I really worked my ass off for that post. It takes me hours to come up with a good one, and I was afraid that I wasn't good enough.

Anyway, Captain George and his buddies think the Empire is corrupt and flawed just like every other government. The thing is that they accept the Empire for what it is instead of trying to change it. If the empire does need change, it needs to change its leadership. George has seen what the Empire can do under a good leader, they can be a powerful force that unites the scattered tribes of humanity. But since their current leader is a weak and corrupt scumbag, the Empire is starting to decline. Hopefully, by changing the leaders and not the government itself, the Empire can be a force that will bring law and order to the galaxy.

They are not trying to be the good guys, they're just trying to make sure you follow the law. Not everyone understands that. People believe the Empire is evil incarnate when all it is trying to do is bring order to all peoples.

But why, you might ask, why are there so many riots ruthlessly suppressed by the Empire? Why is freedom of speech limited if not totally banned? Why does the Empire make the world so angry? Why does it manage to inspire hatred instead of inspiring a sense of understanding? Where is the unity now? Where is the law and order it says it will bring?

People are flawed, even the people within the Empire. If there are angry young men in the Plutonian Coalition that want to bring the Empire down there are also angry young men in the Terran Empire that want to bring order to the galaxy by any means necessary. The anger inside them makes them immune to reason. They do not want people to understand. They want people to follow their dreams, they want people to do what's right, at least in their perspective. But in doing so they destroy people's lives and their livelihoods. Instead of inspiring people to do what they think is right, they spread their own hatred and anger to the people.

If you can get past their anger and hatred in their hearts. If you make them understand that you are fighting a battle inside their own souls just like them, then they will understand you. Then hopefully we can find a true sense of understanding and a true sense of unity. Then there will be no more hatred between peoples, no more anger, there will be peace... there will be order... and maybe people can love each other again and love the universe.

So instead of just keeping the peace in the universe, the Empire can get something much more than what they asked for. They can achieve universal love.

This is what I see in the Empire. Don't think they're the bad guys. They're people just like you and me. The biggest mistake you can ever make is to judge people without even knowing who they are.

Eyyy not all the leadership is bad. Look at Lucius, hes one of the 5 Generals and he is probably the most reasonable and understanding guy there. He sees the corruption in the hearts of the colleagues and is trying to change it. Worst comes to worse he will lead a rebellion with his armies and his fleet.

Mm. I've already thought of what kinds of ships the Royal Armada will have. If you do decide to lead the rebellion, I'm going to control the leaders who are going to oppose you. Let me begin by saying that they're formidable opponents and there's a chance if you're not careful you might lose.

The Infantry

The first kind of ship is the normal ship that you can encounter all over the system. They're so common that once they are brought all together for the Royal Armada under the command of the Emperor they can literally swarm entire fleets with their weapons. Strength in numbers, baby. They have decent armor and firepower, and they are so many of them that they can form a protective screen for the rest of the armada. They're not as strong as the other ships, but they can still ruin your day if you walk right into them.

I call the first type the Infantry. Since they form masses of ships that can overwhelm their enemies.

The Crossbows

The second kind of ship is a long-range battlecruiser built in special royal facilities. They fire intense laser beams from far away, destroying the enemy before they could reach them. Though they can only inflict minimal damage with their lasers, repeated laser fire at a ship will eventually destroy it. They serve as the first line of a planet's defense, you can't just raid the planet without several beams from nearby ships tearing your ship to shreds. They also protect the Royal Armada from skirmishing ships that use hit-and-run tactics, ripping them a new asshole before they can be a real pain in the ass for the Armada.

I call this second type the Crossbowmen. Since they can fire an intense laser bolt at long-range but it has to recharge its weapon a while before it can fire again.

The Knights

The third kind of ship is so expensive that people have bankrupted entire nations just to build these babies. It is a short-ranged battlecruiser with so much armor that people have called it the "space tank". This is outfitted with plenty of railguns that are so powerful that they can fire projectiles that can puncture almost all forms of known armor. The problem is that these projectiles are easy to evade at long range, so ships can simply swerve to the side to avoid being hit. So to counteract this, these ships are outfitted with a booster that allows the ship to "charge" at the enemy so it could close the gap between the battlecruiser and the enemy and inflict massive damage on them.

I call this third type the Knight. After the medieval soldiers that wore suits of armor that made them invulnerable and the warhorses they rode for extra speed.

=============================

You can ask me questions about this Royal Armada if you want to know how to deal with them.

Crewmembers

For instance, did you know that the crew of the first types of ships are commoners? The second types come from military families? The third types come from the nobility?

This is because the Infantry ships are easy to produce. The Crossbow ships come from high-ranking military families that have access to royal manufacturing facilities necessary to make these ships. And the Knight ships require the resources of an entire planet to build.

A final word

The Royal Armada may not have the best ships in the galaxy since there are different ships that surpass them in terms of speed, maneuverability, and power. However, they can give generals a run for their money if they are used well with their different strengths and weaknesses in mind.

Oh, and also, why the hell is Drax invading Mars without the Martian fleet moving in to intercept him?! JESUS, THIS IS THE WORST SECURITY CRISIS IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF MANKIND.

SOMEONE STOP HIM ALREADY.

Eh, what about me? My character's far away. That's not his job, that's the Planetary Defense Forces of Mars.

Tha Martian Fleet doesnt need to intercept. The planetary defense systems would destroy his ship if thenorder was given. Lucius has command over 200,000,000 troops and the Martian fleet. Hes not gonna have rebel ships and weapons he will have Terran weapons seeming how he will desert with his armies. Lucius is pretty much destined to be the leader of the rebellion and the main force to contest the Empire

well the plutonians are the main force contesting the empire, but @ThatOneLunatic is right he is the general/governor of mars, he is outfitted with the same technology as the empire, and since he runs mars his disbanding would remove the Terran empires secondary defense against the plutonian coalition. Seeing as how mars is second in power only to the planet earth itself many in the asteroid belt would follow suit, which would turn it into a three way civil war. Granted the terrans could likely handle the Martian uprising it wouldn't be easy, and with them diverting the resources from deep space it would allow the plutonians a reprieve and weaken the empire simultaneously. Either way bad news for the emperor.

Hmm, I know humanity has a hundred billion people in the solar system, but a single general controlling two hundred million troops at once seems a bit ludicrous.

There should be a chain of command. Maybe a system of 1-star generals to 10-star generals because the number of troops available are just so FUCKING large.

Chain of Command

It would make more sense if we create a rank called the High General of (Insert Planet Here) which would be the equivalent of a 10-star general rank.

The rest of the lower generals are called 9-star generals, 8-star generals, 7-star generals and so on until we reach 1-star generals.

If there are 200,000,000 million troops... command responsibility for these should at least be divided by five 9-star generals who will act as the 10-star general's staff.

So each of these 9-star generals will control 40,000,000 troops. 8-star generals control a fifth of that, 8,000,000 troops. 7-stars control 1,600,000. 6-stars control 320,000 troops.

5-star generals control around 150,000 troops. 4-star generals control 80,000 troops. 3-star generals control 40,000 troops. 2-star generals control 15,000 troops.

1-star generals control 4,000 troops.

God, so many generals controlling the army at this point. There must be thousands of generals commanding the army with the 10-star general on the top.

How to become a general 101

There are four known ways to become a general:

1. You buy your generalship. This way you can supply your own troops with your vast quantities of money available. You can be your own private warlord this way, getting trained soldiers from the empire while pursuing your own interests at your own price.

2. Politics. If you are a Count or Duke or a high-ranking official within your community, you automatically become a general. It does not matter if you are a democratically-elected official like a president or a mayor or whatever. If your city has a population of 300,000 people then you become a 6-star general because the Empire expects everyone to be able to join the military and protect the interests of the Empire.

This is part of the reason why the quality of soldiers can range from downright terrible to insanely superhuman. Sometimes, they are just sending out waves of poorly trained civilians to attack the enemy while at other times they are sending in genetically-modified super soldiers to tear you guys a new asshole.

3. Political favors. Several generals elect you to this position because they owe you something.

4. You're just that damn good. You're appointed to this generalship by most of the generals in this system or by the Emperor himself.

I didnt choose the number of troops. @Jefferson did, There are also only 5 generals in all of the Empire. Each one tasked with defending a area of the territory controlled by the Terrans. Thats not what I decided thats what Jefferson told me. Theres of course other officers but they all directly report to Lucius and the other 5 generals depending on what sector the soldiers are stationed in. For mars they are tasked with the defense of the planet and the safety of its people. Also our of the ways Lucius would have became General it would have been 4. He headed the Fury project and was a Tactician  and highly skilled soldier.

Hmm, you're right. But I will keep some of my ideas for future reference, they could be of use someday. Particularly if my character wants to become a general of his own.

I just wonder how could they accumulate such a large number of people. What kind of organization manages to hold all of these people together? This is enough to give a bureaucrat nightmares. I'd also like to know how they were recruited.

Details. Details. Details. Gotta ask some more questions.

Well, I'll be asking Jefferson since he's the one calling the shots.

@Jefferson! Hey man, got any answers to my questions?

well the plutonians are the main force contesting the empire, but @ThatOneLunatic is right he is the general/governor of mars, he is outfitted with the same technology as the empire, and since he runs mars his disbanding would remove the Terran empires secondary defense against the plutonian coalition. Oh, I'd also like to ask if there are fleets with different types of ships.

I suggest ships that specialize in hit-and-run tactics. They would be small and have multiple boosters so that they could escape just in the nick of time before the enemy cuts them to pieces. Hmm, but then again there is one problem with this. If they get too close to the enemy, their targeting computers would lock onto their ships and destroy it. So I guess hit-and-run ships aren't that much of an option. They can be used for raiding outposts that have only a small garrison.

Historical Storyteller

Four Thousand Club
What about a "carrier" ship that holds hundreds of droid fighters? They would swarm around the enemy and shoot all over the place. The enemy can't hope to shoot all of them down before getting destroyed. We could use this.

No missile ships. They'd be shot down by lasers before they get close. Unless the missile is as fast as the speed of light then it just couldn't reach its intended target.

(On second thought, missiles CAN be used. But they have to be used in abundance so there'll be a chance that one of them will hit the enemy ship.)

Even mining ships can be used for war. They can carry big asteroids and throw it straight into a planet.

---

Here are more suggestions for the different fleets.

The Plutonian Coalition may have a main fleet similar to the Terrans so they can defend their homeworld. Alternatively, they can exploit the distance needed to reach their homeland by fighting a war of attrition. They could build thousands of hit-and-run ships that can wear the enemy down before they reached the gas giants or Pluto. They'd fire endless streams of laser bolts at the enemy, but their greatest adversaries would be the Terran Crossbow ships that can fire back.

And I have an idea for the asteroid belt colonies. They can use their mining ships to throw asteroids at enemy fleets to scatter their formations. But if an asteroid did manage to hit a ship... let's say it ain't going to be pretty. Otherwise, it's easy to dodge an asteroid. Also, they could place this bigass bomb inside an asteroid and detonate it. Incinerating anything thousands of miles inside its blast radius. Think of it as space age nuclear bomb.

All in all, I'd say that asteroid belt folks have a some big guns of their own.

Extra: What are the different people in the Terran Empire like?

Hmm. Personally, I view the Terrans as something like... Catholic Space Nazis.

I see the Asteroid Belters as Space Cowboys. The kind of people in those Wild West films.

The people in Mars are said to be a throwback to the United States government of the early 21st century.

I believe the people in Venus are rich merchants that have set up monopolies all over the planet.

Hmm, the people of Mercury literally live inside hell.

good points both of you.

Generals don't actually command all 200,000,000 of their soldiers. (each general has the same number the Terran army consists of a billion soldiers.) most are born to it similar to the caste system but its not as heavily enforced as it used to be, more of a suggestion.

the officers are each in command of a specific unit, then comes the commanders who lead large ships with a crew of anywhere from 1200-10,000.

the chain of command is pretty simple actually each soldier answers to his direct superior, all the way up to the emperor (who I will be posting soon.)

the "bureaucrats" you mentioned are actually supercomputers whose sole purpose is to organize the orders and get them to each officer.

All the ships you mentioned are in use with the exception of mining ships, your creeping into plutonian territory there. The carried ships also don't often use driods as emp and hacking have become very prominent since the binarian uprising. Instead they use fighter pilots augmented for better performance. Thats the real clinchpin of the Terran military, they augment their soldiers to fit the role needed, making the Terran empires technology, troops, and overall military might vastly superior to the plutonians, the only reason they havent utterly destroyed the plutonian coalition is because killing 41 billion people doesn't sit well with anyone and that course of action would guarantee a revolt bigger than what is already being done, also they can't exactly start hurling antimatter shots at their gas giant fuel stations that they hope to recapture. All in all the plutonians are only able to fight because the Terran empire isnt trying to crush them they are trying to get them back, if that changes the war ends in a year tops.

The ranking system is similar to the current military but they have only five generals, one for mercury, one for Venus, one for earth, one for mars, and one for the asteroid belt (kinda the least desirable of the five.) after that its admirals who command a fleet each, ship commanders, then officers, then common soldiers.

As for missiles ohhh boy are you gonna like this. Most missiles are sheilded, the larger ones have Freakin warp drives, so you can warp a nuke to your opponents vessel if you can get a lock. Missiles are some of humanities best weapons still. But the most powerful weapon we have is the Zeus cannon in orbit around earth, its basically a railgun that shoots planet busting antimatter shells at incredible distances.

most of the rest can be up to you guys (also you are wrong on the reasoning behind generals, there are two ways. Get voted in by the other generals based off of the qualifications one has, or get appointed directly by the emperor. Generals are not ever brought in unless they are the best, no matter how many political strings you can pull, if the string isn't connected to the emperor you aren't gonna be a general.)

See I figured the system worked that way, thats why in a earlier post IC Lucius nodded to a Admiral and gave him the ok to use lethal force if the brood ship were to try and land without following proper procedures.

I don't think the war will end in a year. The Terran military is still a force to be reckoned with. Even if you get the asteroid belters and the Martians against the Empire, they'll still be in for a rough fight. Only if you manage to convince the Venus and Mercury guys to join your side can this war be surely over in a year or less.

We're gonna have a lot of admirals and fleets then. Hmm. That gets me thinking. There must be different types of soldiers serving in the military.

The first type of soldier is something like a space sailor. They control the ships. There are two types of these sailors. The ones that serve in the Battlefleet or Royal Armada. The other one serves as part of the Planetary Defense force, transporting goods from one place to another, doing police work, or defending the planet, etc.

The second type of soldier would be your good old-fashioned infantryman. Again there are two types of this particular soldier. One will be called the Garrison Infantry. They're composed of ordinary soldiers that... garrison strong points. The Garrison actually has a wide variety of tasks, such as ruthlessly suppressing any local opposition, being the deputies of the local sheriff to keep law and order, kill any suspected terrorists, etc. but there are just so many things a Garrison guy can do that it's too much to say in one post.

The other infantryman is the genetically modified super soldier that is responsible for going on extremely dangerous missions. Such as boarding an enemy vessel surrounded by thousands of combatants ready to kill you, conducting sabotage to the enemy's production centers, assassinating a well-known public figure.

As for missiles ohhh boy are you gonna like this. Most missiles are sheilded, the larger ones have Freakin warp drives, so you can warp a nuke to your opponents vessel if you can get a lock. SWEET. I thought we were still in the early space age. I'll be using nukes more often then!

I'll be going to sleep shortly. Anyways, how do shields work here? Doesn't it consume a vast amount of energy to keep a laser blast or a nuke from pulverizing your vessel to a pulp? Or shields don't exist. So all they can do is dodge. I wonder if ships have to evade a laser blast by maneuvering out of the way or just plain warping a short distance away to avoid a direct hit.

Most shields are operated by a material called silver matter. It amplifies whatever energy is put into it doesn't need to stop the force just absorb it, certain weapons are designed to circumvent this.

when I said over in a year I ment for the plutonians. If The Terran empire stopped trying to get them back and just went ham on them itd be over in a year.

warp drives also take time to power up, keeping a warp engine powered wouldn't allow enough energy for shields or weapons so you can choose between warping, or fighting but not both.

Also while on the topic of the royal armada. The most powerful ship in the Terran military is the Gossamire, this is the emperors vessel and literally has the best that the Terran empire can offer, is roughly twice the size and armor of a knight class ship, and possesses enough firepower to literally destroy the whole empire without having to reload. 10,000 state of the art warp missiles. 2400 City busting railguns, 2600 Plasma bolters, 3000 High energy lasers, the best shielding possible. To make matters worse it can connect to the Zeus to make the empires greatest weapon mobile...

it also has full body gold plating because "I'm the f**king emperor" (Terran emperor 2642, in the orbital construction facility.)

Quick question. I'm interested in this RP.

Is there a fleet that's just under Furies in terms of success or are they on another level compared to anybody else?

I was thinking about building a character that has a fighter squadron that is relatively successful compared to other combat groups, but not nearly as successful as Furies.

EDIT: is this ground combat or is this space combat or is it combined arms?

Let's see where this leads...
It's more like specialists, I think. There are people running about in ships but they are still individual characters

So...is it combined arms?

Because if it is I will glady take a starfighter position (I'd imagine they would use fighters/bombers on surface warfare too.)

During the site transfer I've written down tons of notes just so I can stave off the boredom. I should have a lot of questions for you and a lot of things to add here, but the thing is I can't remember what I've written down yet and it's just so much...

Plus, it seems like my writing has deteriorated a bit since I haven't written in a while. It will be some time after I get my bearings and post again.

Oh, and Jefferson, by the way are you still thinking about Hellmaw?
