Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure Roleplay [Closed]

Trinity spoke up, "I don't need a horse I can make my way there easily on foot." she said then nodded in agreement when Varian suggested Devon come along with us. "It would only make sense for you to come with us that way you don't have to rush." She said with a smile as Dawn jumped onto her shoulder. Trinity laughed a little and pet Dawn a bit then looked back at Devon. "How much do you ask for in payment for fixing the cloak?" She slightly tilted her head as she asked, "I don't have much but since your going through all this trouble I can't just let you do this for free," She then firmly stated. Trinity leaned back a bit and Dawn jumped off her.

" Royal Castle "

"You need the sevices of a tailor for your journey, sir?" said Devon to Varian, surprised at the suggestion. He then chuckled when he understood after Trinity spoke up. "Oh, I see. Wel, I, unfortunately, I have a parcel for the king to deliver first. And your cloak, my lady . . ." He swiftly pinned down the broken end, and with his paws in a black blur of calm precision, threaded the clasp shut, " . . . is but a small tear." He tied the loose end, snapped the thread with a scissor, folded the cloak in one motion, and in a fluid bow presented it to Trinity. "And it is fixed."

He smiled at her. "You are kind." He glanced at Eugene. "Perhaps as payment, spread the word of Bron's Tailoring and our excellent services? And if you will allow me to accompany your party still, I would be happy." He looked up at Eugene. "Perhaps there is opportunity to speak to you more, Sir Eugene, about your suit. If not, then this tailor is still more than happy to help the royal family, as you've helped us common folk." he bowed.

Trinity smiled widely and gently took the red cloak, carefully putting it back on her and putting the hood on her head in a way that it hid most of her features. "Thank you, Devon" She then shot a glare at Dawn, "And don't break it this time thank you" She narrowed her eyes and then clapped her hands together. I think we could use all the help we could get if we want to get Dawn back." Even with the hood on her head, her eyes lit up as she looked over at Varian and Eugene, now feeling a bit more hopeful, her previous tired expression seemed to vanish. With all the help she was getting she now had no doubt now that they could save Dawn.

Rapunzel seemed a bit confused when Trinity refused. "Are you sure we can't give you a horse? It would be faster than walking. We could take a coach if you're not a fan of riding."
Eugene, more than impressed with the tailor's skills nodded in agreement. "I was just thinking you could come along. The work you did on the king's festival cloak? That was pure genius. The tailor who did that has to be the one to design my suit. Rapunzel the coach is a fantastic idea, that way we can bring paper, and I can plan out my suit in detail."

"What would you like to do Varian?" Rapunzel asked. "Coach or horse? I think we do still have a few riding lessons you haven't taken yet."

Before long the horses were saddled and the coach was also waiting at the front of the castle. A guard came in to tell them so.
"Are you all ready?" Rapunzel said excitedly. She had bags packed with food, blankets and other supplies, which were waiting for them too.
"So Trinity, how far are we going?"

Trinity looked at the sky and then counted on her fingers before answering. "Well be riding outside the kingdom and it took me two days on foot to get here so I can only assume that it'll take at least until tomorrow to arrive at my home," She said as she walked outside, Dawn by her side walking with her. "I'm thinking if we avoid going straight through town it could help our time so that way it only takes a few hours- five at the least. She told them, keeping her eyes on the sky. "But that's only if we get going now."

"Then I shall quickly deliver this and get ready, sire. Erm, where are we going?"

After quickly getting details of their quest and saying he'll meet them in the courtyard, Devon quickly hurried the guard to take him to the king where he delivered the package, before calmly bowing out. The moment the door was closed, he jumped out the nearest window and safely landed on all fours. "I'm alright, good fellow!" He reassured the startled guard. "Cats always land on their feet!" He then quickly traversed the ivy covered battlements in long leaps, pretty much like an ordinary cat, until he landed down among the roofs of the townhouses and their smoking chimneys.

A few minutes later, his grandma was startled when he came tumbling through the window where she was sewing a dress. Devon kissed her cheek, "Mama, I've been commissioned to make Sir Eugene's suit!" he announced happily arms open wide.

The portly human lady was astonished, then her wrinkly face beamed. "Devon, my dear, oh that's wonderful! See, you have finally been recognized!" they hugged and she kissed his forehead. "I am so proud of youuuuu." she squeezed.

"I can hardly believe it myself. But, mama, I am in a hurry, Princess Rapunzel needs me on a quest." He dropped out of her arms and with much excitement moved across the second floor hallway and in his room where he quickly donned his hunting gear and grabbed his bow which was about as tall as he was.

"Where are you going, Devon?" her voice called as she shuffled after him.

"Outside the kingdom! Something about turning a friend of the princesses' friend back to normal. Witchcraft, I think." He hoisted his backpack. "I'll be back in a few days." He passed her and dropped down to the first floor where their shop was. His grandma's family greeted him, and him they. "Afternoon all, I found myself on a quest of sorts with the princess and Sir Eugene. Can't talk much, just going to grab some food!" he kissed their cheeks before going out the door. "I'll be back in a few days, I'll bring some souveniers if I can, take care of granny, okay?"

And off he dashed again to meet the others.

They saw Devon panting and straightening his glasses, after running on all fours towards the coach outside the castle walls. "I'm . . ." he panted. " Here . . . your Highness, Sire, my lady, Sir Varian." He bowed, catching his breath. He wore a green cloak and had a quiver and bow that was about the same size as he was, and two small knives on his belt. He had a little leather pack on him, and a brooch across his cloak that bore the Hunter's Guild emblem. "Devon Bronson at your service."

"Then Varian it shall be." Devon inclined his head, smiling. He gave Varian a look as though he was pleasantly surprised he wasn't like the other nobles and court officials in the castle. He climbed up the coach and tied his pack securely on the roof. "Shoo, shoo." he made waving gestures at the racoon, before jumping down and standing on a wheel by the coach door like a footman, ready to open the door for them.

Trinity looked at Devon a bit shocked for a moment and then laughed. "You don't have to open the door for us ya know, our arms work just fine" She smiled and patted the cat's head before climbing into the coach and sitting down. Dawn sat by Trinity and she bent down to Dawn and whispered, "Go ahead and take your shortcut and we'll meet you there by sunset tomorrow but if we don't then you know to get help as soon as possible alright?" She hugged Dawn before she jumped out of Trinity's lap and jumped out of the coach, prancing away. Trinity watched until Dawn was out of her field of vision and then looked at both Devon and Varian. "Are you guys getting in or are you just going to stand there?" She asked while smiling warmly and then scooted over to make room, placing her hands on her lap.

"Er, tis a courtesy, my lady." said Devon slowly, quirking a white brow. He was looking unsure now. Questioningly, he glanced at Rapunzel and Eugene, and did not go in yet.

((Sorry, Rpn never notified me when you all posted))

Rapunzel chuckled. "Don't take it too badly Devon, not everyone is used to courtesy." By the time Devon had arrived, Rapunzel was already in the saddle. Fidella stood patiently, and pascal was perched on the pommel, little tail coiled about it for balance.
"All right! Are we all ready?" Eugene was, paper in hand with crude drawings of what he wanted for his suit, ready to deluge the poor tailor with every single idea. Rapunzel had to smile at she watched his enthusiasm. It was clearly very important to him.
"After you my good man, er, cat." He let Devon climb in first.
Max was there as well, refusing to let the adventurers go without a "proper" escort. He'd never been left out of a quest before, and he wasn't going to start now.
No sooner had Devon sat down when Eugene poured the papers into his lap.
"Okay, let's start with the trim, I was thinking silver thread along the collar..."
He continued to talk long into the start of their journey.

When the group was finally ready, Rapunzel took the lead. She watched the castle for a moment as they reached the shore, now far away from the castle town. before them stretched miles of fields and beyond that, seemingly endless forest. Rapunzel resisted the urge to gallop ahead. No matter how many times she came out here, it always reminded her of the first day she had experienced freedom.
"I know that look," Eugene leaned out of the carriage window. "You want to just tale Fidella and run as fast as she'll go right?"
"Well," Rapunzel smiled, "It's not that fun riding all by myself. Besides, we're not out here for fun. We are trying to get to the bottom of a mystery. A magical mystery."
Eugene looked at her skeptically.
"Oh who am I kidding, of course this is fun!" Rapunzel burst out happily.

Trinity looked at Varian and gave a small smile, "My name is Trinity" She said as she watched you look through your satchel then turned to look out the side of the coah, looking at the forest they were passing through. She then found herself looking at Varian again, seeing that he was asleep and she laughed a bit. "That's kinda cute," She thought to herself as she carefully took off her cloak and covered Varian with it like a cover before lightly bushing and looking back outside.

Meanwhile, Dawn was making her way through the thick part of the forest, dodging bushes of thorns and staying away from any other animals when she saw Ruddiger. Confused, Dawn then sat down and tilted her head to the side as she looked at him then quickly got up, continuing to make her way through the forest until she reached a small group of already burned sticks. It looked as if the fire was put out by someone who was already there and she sat by it as she waited for the raccoon to catch up.

Trinty held lightly covered her mouth as Varien talked in his sleep and held in another laugh, the small blush that had formed on her face before still visible across her cheeks. She then leaned him on her a bit so he'd feel more comfortable.

Dawn shook her head unsure and carefully climbed a nearby tree, getting a better look of where they were before jumping out onto the ground and heading east of where they were. Dawn kept a steady pace so Ruddiger could keep up and eventually made it to a small cottage after walking for almost an hour. Dawn chittered excitedly and started running to it then jumped up to try and open the door with no luck. She sat by the door and decided to wait for Trinity to arrive so that she could go in.

"Forest"

With a bow, Devon jumped in the carriage. Sitting by the door, his tail pleasantly swished in surprise to have the papers to work on. The tailor listened more than talked as the carriage rattled along, scribbling down Eugene's wishes and with his mess kit as a table, sketched designs to reaffirm if Eugene liked it to look this way or that.

"Very good, sire, thank you, I have more than what I need." he said when they finished. He had brought a ledger with him that had drawings of previous commissions, and folded his copies of Eugene's sketches with all their notes inside. He put it away in his leather bag. "Perhaps when we have time to stand around later, I can take your measurements. If I may know, when is the big day?" he whispered.

Eugene looked back to the tailor, an excited smile on his face.
"Just a month left! I can't really believe it."
Rapunzel laughed softly from her place in Fidella's saddle.
"It's been a long journey," Fidella stepped close enough to the carriage for her to put a loving hand over Eugene's. "But I think I'm finally ready."
She took the opportunity to peek into the carriage at the sleeping Varian.
"Aww, I didn't know Varian talked in is sleep." She lowered her voice so as not to wake him. "He's adorable."
A whinny from Max drew her attention to the road ahead, they were about to enter a dense forest. The trees were tall but their branches wove together overhead, blotting out most of the light. At the side of the road toadstools grew, and the calls of strange birds echoed in the gloom.
"Oooh nobody said anything about a creepy forest. You sure we're going the right way?" Eugene asked Trinity.

Trinity looked out and noticed the trees as well as acknowledging the rather creepy sounds that echoed in the forest around them. She slowly nodded her head while speaking in a small voice, "Yeah it's the same path I took...But it looks so much more-. . . " She thought for a word that described the look of the forest that had been bright and colorful the first time she walked through it before finishing "Sad..." She felt confused and tried to wrap her head around when it had gotten like this - Or better yet how it got there, to begin within the course of three days. "Uhm-Guys I think somethings wrong it wasn't like this at all when I had came here..." She gave out the warning as level headed as she could. "If we keep going down this way... I think we should do it cautiously"

"Creepy Forest"

Devon smiled warmly at the couple. "I hope you two will continue to be happy." Memories flashed of looking up from playing with a wooden giraffe on the blue carpeted kitchen floor, at his grandfather and grandmother shuffling and laughing, as they slowly danced around in cake-stained aprons at the sound of music in the streets. Yes, he wished that peace for them too.

He glanced at Varian, and a corner of his smile hitched up, amused. Then he looked at Trinity, concerned, then out at the forest. He calmly hitched up his bag. "I'll help keep watch outside."

He hoisted himself through the window and up the carriage roof. Quickly hooking a small unlit lantern to his belt, he pocketed a torch and matches, before securing his bag once more. Devon drew his bow and quiver of arrows at the ready and crouched among the bags for cover, peering over the top at their surroundings, watchfully.

Eugene's expression changed to one of serious concern and he got out of the carriage, going to Max instead.
"If we're doing this, I am definitely going first, with my right-hand horse, of course."
Max rolled his eyes at the rhyme.
Rapunzel followed close behind on Fidella and slowly the carriage rolled forward too. The horses that drew the carriage were some of Max's best trainees, and though they looked uneasy, seeing their leader step boldly into the forest gave them courage.
"It doesn't feel threatening." Rapunzel said with a hopeful tone after they had been traveling for a little while.
The forest maintained it's dark, eerie atmosphere, but she seemed to be right, nothing they had encountered so far had been dangerous, or openly hostile.
"Yet." Eugene added suspiciously. "I like magic about as much as I like snow." They walked past a thick tree covered in hanging moss and the captain of the Corona guard gave it a solid stinkeye. "Anything could change. And at any moment, and I can deal with that, provided I don't get changed into a monkey...again."
"You don't think this magic has anything to do with Dawn's transformation do you?" Rapunzel asked the group. "What do you think Trinity? Could it be related?"

"Actually... that makes a bit of sense for it to be considering how both dawn and the forest had gone through a rather fast change" Trinity hung her head out the side of the carriage and looked around. The farther they went the more familiar she was with almost every stone they passed by. "A few miles left and we should be arriving." She looked at the sky and inhaled sharply. "This took a little longer than I wanted it to...I really hope Dawn made it safely." She thought to herself as she sat down, trying to relax when she had looked over at Varien. Trinity put a hand to her mouth and held in a laugh. "Uhm you have a bit of-" She then gestured to his blush as a light version of her own appeared across her cheeks. "You alright there?" She then asked after fully composing herself.

Trinity gave a small smile before getting a little closer and hugging Varien, trying to make him feel a bit better
"I dont like the dark either, But if you travel ya just gotta get used to it" She pulled away from the hug, and a million different things going through her mind.
"Why the heck did you just hug him outta nowhere!?" She shouted in her own head as she then turned her head, hoping to hide the fact that her cheeks had turned a darker red.
"When I had first gone this way it was...actually rather pleasant. And as you can see- that's not the case anymore" She kept her smile and looked back at Varien.

Eugene and Rapunzel exchanged knowing looks as Varian stumbled over his words. Eugene made a mental note to tease the alchemist about it later. For now they had to get through the forest, which seemed to only be growing thicker. It wasn't long before roots and branches had covered the trail completely, leaving only a narrow track too small for the carriage, or even a rider on a horse.
"Looks like we're walking from here." Eugene said with a frown. He and Rapunzel jumped down, leaving Max and Fidella to walk by themselves.
"You know if I was someone wielding magic, and I wanted to set up a trap, this would be a pretty good start."
"Or," Rapunzel added, "It could be a magic forest just that good at growing?"
"You know I love your positivity sunshine, but maybe we should keep the trap thing in the back of our minds."
"Yeah, that might be best..." Rapunzel went to the carriage to open the door, and offered Devon a hand to climb down.
"Whatever is doing this, it's definitely magic."

"Creepy Forest"

Devon was once more seized in uncertainty, staring at Rapunzel's hand. Then caught her eye and hastily said, "Forgive me for staring, your Highness. I-I've never had a lady offer me her hand down a carriage before, usually it is the other way around. " And after untying his pack and shouldering it, he obediently held her hand ---- his furry paw was small, just about the span of her palm, with stubby fingers that ended in neatly trimmed claws --- and hopped down. "I'm a little caught off guard is all. I am a tad unsure how to act among all of you, but I know that you are being kind." he smiled, then straightened up. "I'll watch the rear, your Highness." He bowed, then scampered on all fours up the nearest tree, the golden eyes behind his glasses resuming their watchful guard.

He followed behind the group, quietly padding along the tree tops, a dark green and black silhouette among the leaves.

Trinity was starting to slightly zone one out on her environment when an idea suddenly came to mind and she lightly rested her hand on Varien's shoulder, "Uhm do you think you could hand me the cloak?" She then ran her other hand through her dark and curly brown hair as she looked at him in the eyes. There was something about the look in her eyes that made it clear she was up to something, something dangerous. "I think there's another way to go that'll still get us there before dark but just to be sure I think it's safe for us to set up camp." The girl then turned and looked up at Devon before speaking "Do you think you could throw a few branches down?!" She asked him.

"Creepy Forest"

Devon glanced down at Trinity. "Yes, my lady." His short form darted higher up the trees. Quickly kicking branches dangling, he tore them with a swipe of the teeth edge of the back of his small knife, then after a couple of snapping sounds above them, his voice said loudly. "Watch out down below, gentlemen."

And a couple of branches started raining down.

A rustle and shake of leaves, as Devon leapt down the lower branch he stood on earlier "Is that enough?"

Trinity smiled and nodded up at Devon "Yes that should be enough thank you!" She then started to gather the fallen branches together and started collecting stones while also clearing part of a new path to the left of her to put around them, making a pit then took a piece of flint. She striked the rock and a stick a few times before it finally caught on fire and she threw it into the pile. Trinity stood while smiling, proud of herself for getting the fire started so quickly. She then looked back turning to Varien while tilting her head. She had a feeling that she knew it already but just wanted to be sure"What's wrong?" She asked. (Oh Jesus I really hope you get better!)

"Well... You won't have to go I dont expect you to either. I'll just have to see for myself if it's safe before I risk the safety of others who are here just to help me." Trinity smiled reassuringly at Varien then stood up and hugged him before lightly kissing his cheek, her cloak hiding her blush. "Dont worry I'll be fine!" She started to tuck her hair in the hood of her red cloak as she spoke then wandered off deeper into the forest by herself. She took a dagger from a black strap that was wrapped around her ankle but hid in her boot then started slashing at thick brambles and vines, earning a few scratches.

Meanwhile at Trinity's home Dawn was growing impatient and getting worried and she sat up seeming anxious. She then suddenly froze in place and stared ahead, nothing was there. Nothing but trees and bushes with a pile of logs nearby, supposedly for the fire she knew was still burning inside. Trinity then started sprinting away at full speed with no exact place in mind. Just to get away...And fast. Her once intelligent and observations eyes, now gone and replaced by something more...Inhuman. She was trying her best to hold it together the whole time but at this moment she knew she couldn't hold it anymore but she couldn't risk going savage around the raccoon. She had grown a liking to him. So here she was...running... knowing that nine times out of ten....she was going to be followed.
