Personality: Ragnar has maintained his fantasy of being a pirate one day through a rich imagination and by treating most situations as a one man roleplaying experience. This can make him come off as goofy and incapable of taking things seriously, but he is actually very thoughtful and takes time to make sure he not only gets answers right but that he does so in the right way. If someone arrives a correct conclusion but does so in the wrong way Ragnar has no reservations about correcting them until they get it right, regardless of the situation, which can come off as pedantic and adds to his seeming inability to be serious. Seemingly in conflict with his piratical dreams Ragnar is adamantly philosophically opposed to stealing and has a very broad definition of what stealing entails. If he finds out about a theft that has occurred he will go out of his way to correct the situation even at great personal expense for people he does not know. Because of this most of his dreams of piracy involve hunting pirates and returning their stolen booty, much like a Robin hood of the high seas. He appreciates deeply when people play into his imaginary scenarios, and is easily frustrated by being presented with paradoxes he can't solve.
Backstory: Being from a completely landlocked town without even a local swimming hole has not yet deterred Ragnar from hoping to achieve his dream of being a captain feared by pirates on all seven seas. Well, his second dream, he really wants to be a real-true-cloistered-robed philosopher. However that is far to fanciful even for him to entertain as a plausible choice of career so Ragnar has instead settled on one day being king of the high seas.

He's some big smart history guy at a university who keeps trying to tell Ragnar that being a philosopher is not actually less plausible than being a privateer. Ragnar mostly thinks this is silly and asks to be regaled with stories about famous naval battles and captain instead
Other: Uses a function sylladex system where each item retrieved must have a 'Life Purpose' described through a sound and true philosophical function. If the function is not sound and true or ascribes the item too lowly a purpose the item has an existential crisis and self destructs.
