Mortals and Immortals

In this world, all beings have souls, filled with energy. Most beings only have enough energy within their soul to support basic life, however, some beings have gained power through various means, and gained Immortality. These beings are known as Immortals, and there are various different races  of them spread throughout the world. There are two main differences between Mortals and Immortals, the first is that Immortals no longer have a physical body in the sense that Mortals do. Instead, they have an "avatar" that acts as the physical representation of their soul. This means that Immortals cannot be harmed by regular means, and will only die if their soul is completely destroyed by the power of another Immortal. The second difference is that an Immortal's soul is filled with a unique "energy" that they are able to produce and control at will. This section of lore will detail the individual Immortal races, so make sure you read up on your chosen race before creating your character. It should also be noted that there exists a sub group of Immortals known as "Proto-Immortals", that have the abilities of an Immortal, but are not yet at the same level of strength, also, they can be affected and harmed by Mortals.

Guardians

Guardian.jpg

Guardians mostly appear in the form of regular humans, but may take on a more inhuman appearance after a sacrifice takes place.

Guardians are a new race of Immortals, they began to come into existance as a result of more advanced human Mortals forming small societies outside of Sol. But, because these advanced, more intelligent humans lack the strength of more primitive species, they often fall victim to predators and have no way to defend themselves. This is when Guardians are created, in a time of need, the souls of a society join together in unison to create a much more powerful being, to act as a guardian for mortals who cannot defend themselves. When Guardians are born, they have no memories, and are the result of the fusion of many different souls, however, they are still their own person. Due to their purpose in being created, all Guardians have the drive to protect the innocent, some more than others. Seeing as small human societies are very rare, Guardians are even more rare, and are only created in the most extreme situations. They often live short lives, fading away and returning to their original forms when peace has been restored in the world.

Abilities:

Soul Transformation: Guardians have the unique ability to transform their souls into various weapons or items, and even upgrade them over time, as they become more powerful. This stems from their stronger than average soul, created in order to resist a lot of damage, this also means that Guardians can freely use their soul as an offensive or defensive weapon without worrying about damaging themselves. This "Soul Weapon" acts as an extension of their being, and is simply another part of their avatar.

Sacrifice: In an extreme situation, it is possible for Guardians to re-form their souls after being destroyed, but as a result they will lose all of their memories up until that point. However, they may recover these memories over time. When they re-form, they can possibly take on a brand new physical form that makes them even more powerful than before their soul was destroyed.

Sentinels

Sentinel.jpg

Often equipped with heavy armour, Sentinels appear as regular humans, but appear to increase in size as they upgrade their armour.

Sentinels are mysterious, extemely rare, and supposedly ancient Immortals. There are only a few secretive societies around the world that can produce Sentinels, they are created using advanced technology to transplant energy from various other Mortals into a single Mortal soul, granting that being Immortality. Currently, the technology used to create Sentinels is in it's experimental stages, and therefore Sentinels are rarely seen. They are often created in military societies, with a high-ranking individual often being made into a Sentinel who rules over the society, and acts as it's protector. It is theorized that the advanced humans who lead to the creation of Guardians are descendants of those who fled Sol, and the advanced humans that form military societies that create Sentinels originate from somewhere else, it is currently unknown where they came from, nor if they are aware themselves. Sentinels are seen as legends through most of the world, some even going as far to believe that Sentinels are the gods of this world.

Abilities:

Soul Armour: Sentinels have the ability to control the Aether within their soul to an extreme degree, forming powerful suits of armour to protect their souls and enhance their abilities. Over time, they can upgrade this armour into more powerful forms, increasing their speed and strength in the process. Similar to the "Soul Weapon" of the Guardians, the Sentinel's Soul Armour acts as an extension of their soul, but provides much more protection to their soul.

Aether Call: A very powerful Sentinel has the ability to withdraw the raw energy from nearby Aether structures, borrowing power from the universe itself, allowing them to take on a new, more powerful form. However this power is not their own, and will eventually return to it's original source.

Huntsmen

Huntsman.jpg

Huntsmen usually appear as regular humans, often with some inhuman elements such as strangely coloured eyes or horns.

However, when performing a hunt, a Huntsmen will take on a more demonic form used to mimic other races.

The Huntsmen are a group of new Immortals in this world, however, they are very different from all other Immortal races. Their souls are not made from Aether, but a mysterious, evil substance known as Dark Matter. These Immortals came into being when a few Mortals wished to rise up against the Immortals, and gain power of their own. To do this, they committed the ultimate sin, consuming the soul of another being. This sin gave birth to a brand new energy that corrupts all it touches: Dark Matter. Huntsmen are the mortals who devoured the souls of many different beings, gaining more and more power until their souls were corrupted by Dark Matter, and transformed into powerful Immortals. Huntsmen seek only to gain more power, and will cause the extinction of all other Immortal races if they are left free to hunt for souls. A Mortal that has just begun to devour souls and gain power will remain as a Proto-Immortal for a period of time, until they truly become a Huntsman/Huntress.

Abilities:

Hunt: Upon consuming the soul of a specific Immortal, Huntsmen are able to perform a special technique known as a "Hunt". This ability lets them temporarily alter their soul and physical appearance, becoming a demonic creature based upon the race of one of the souls they have consumed. They will take on the traits of that specific race, in order to take advantage of the weaknesses of their prey, they use this ability to gain the advantage in a hunt.

Finale: A highly experienced Huntsman is able to "devour" his own soul in order to perform the "Final Hunt", increasing their own abilities exponentially, for a short period of time. This technique causes the user to take on a new, possibly much more demonic form, for as long as the technique lasts. During this period of time, they effectively become "soulless" and are completely overwhelmed by Dark Matter, until their soul finally re-emerges from the darkness.

Titans

Titan.jpg

Titans can be upwards of 20 feet tall, their size increases as they gain power, and it is currently unknown whether there is a limit for a Titan’s growth. All Titans have a humanoid appearance, with only a few, rare inhuman characteristics, such as claws or horns.

On the planet of Sol, the culture of Mortals is based around combat, and proving themselves to be the most powerful in the land. These Mortals were very powerful, compared with the more intelligent humans that live in smaller societies throughout the world. They also have the ability to perform a fusion with other Mortals, combining their souls together to form much larger and more powerful beings. Often, massive clans made up of millions of Mortals would perform fusions that resulted in massive, extremely powerful Immortals known as Titans. However, these Immortals held a similar intellect to that of the Mortals they were made from, Titans are created simply to fight, and become the most powerful, meaning that they are very simple-minded,  only seeking to win fights and gain more respect, so that other Mortals may join in their fusion, giving the Titan more power. A Titan with only a small number of souls included in their fusion will remain as a Proto-Immortal until they reach a certain level of power.

Abilities:

Battlecry: Titans are able to perform different “Battlecries” that briefly enhance their abilities; this comes from the combined will of each soul inside them, shouting out to empower the soul of the Titan.

Power Fusion: Another ability of the Titan is the “Power Fusion”, only used as a last resort, the Power Fusion allows the Titan to briefly un-fuse, allowing their Mortal souls to regenerate and then perform a second fusion, regenerating a large amount of their energy and healing their soul instantly, and in the process, a more powerful, but unstable fusion is formed. This more powerful fusion is only made capable due to the will of each Mortal soul, and cannot be held for a long period of time. After the battle is complete, (or during, if the battles lasts a long time, or goes south) the Titan must re-fuse into their original form.

Primals

Primal.jpg

Primals take the appearance of large animals, such as giant wolves, bears, birds. Primals are based on the concept of giant real-life animals; please PM me if you’d like to request playing as a mythical creature. The size of Primals can vary wildly, but should not be too much larger than its animal counterpart.

At the dawn of this world, powerful beasts roamed the land, animals with great power, far beyond that of any Mortal human. Among these beasts, there were almighty Primals, the incredibly powerful Immortal leaders of any particular race of beasts. Primals can be chosen and granted Immortality through many different ways; it depends on the culture of each beast race. But there will always be one or more Primal that acts as the leader and protector of a race. Most of these ancient beast races have extremely high intellect, although this varies between each race. Primals especially are known to have great wisdom, as many have lived since ancient times.

Primals have a powerful attachment to their species, and are often very reluctant to leave their home planet, as their primary goal in life is to protect it. Also, it should be noted that they are untrustworthy of any other races, especially humanoids. They are very in tune with the flow of time, and respect both the past and future, giving them special abilities that channel energy from ancient times, and possible futures.

There also exists a variant of Primals, known as "Wild Primals" that emerge in newer, less intelligent gatherings of beasts, however they do not have the intellect or strength of a true Primal, but as they are technically Immortal, they have the ability to harm other Immortals. These are a type of Proto-Immortal.

Abilities:

Evolution: During battle, Primals can perform an “Evolution” a special ability that temporarily alters their physical form, changing their body and soul into something new, adapted specifically for the situation they are in at that very moment.

Ancient Fusion: They also have great pride in their ancestors, never forgetting them, and are always holding them in their hearts. This gives Primals access to their most powerful ability, the “Ancient Fusion” where they channel the power of their ancient ancestors, and break the bonds of time to temporarily fuse with one of them.
