[Early Childhood]

Quill was the daughter of a khajiit merchant and his caravan guard. She was born in Cyrodiil and lived a relatively happy early childhood despite her family never staying in one place for more than a week or two. She enjoyed traveling through Tamriel but was always disappointed when she had to say goodbye to all the friends she’d made when it was time to go to the next town. Quill was quite the social butterfly and never had trouble making friends even with city guards. By the age of 10, she had learned enough from her father to run the caravan shop by herself and her mother taught her the ways of the sword which she used to protect the merchandise. Even at a young age, Quill was a rather formidable fighter thanks to the inherent size and strength that came with being a Cathay-raht. When she was 12 years old, her happy go lucky childhood came to an end. Both her parents were caught in a scuffle between the Thalmor and the Stormcloaks on the border between Skyrim and Cyrodiil. She fled to Riften and began life as an orphan.

[Teenage Years]

Quill spent several months in honorhall orphanage. She received food and shelter, but it was a far cry from the life of adventure she once knew. To make matters worse, the headmistress known as Grelod the Kind was a cruel and bitter woman who hated children. Quill didn’t let this stop her from having fun though. She was quite popular with the other orphans and soon became a sort of leader for them. Together she and the others would get up to all sorts of mischief, including playing pranks on Grelod. For a while, Quill was somewhat content with her life, but that all changed when one of her stunts pushed Grelod over the edge. She assisted in the escape of fellow orphans, Aventus Aretino. This got her banned from the orphanage and she was back to living on the streets of Riften. She was able to survive by begging and pickpocketing until one day she stole from the Harbinger of the companions, Artemis Odinheim. Quill didn’t make it very far before she was caught by the famous warrior, but instead of killing her or turning her in to the authorities, Artemis took pity on the girl and decided to adopt her. She lived in Whiterun for the next several years, learning all sorts of valuable skills and becoming an apprentice of sorts to Artemis.

[Adult Life]

Quill became an official member of the companions when she turned 20. She rose quickly through the ranks and became somewhat of a local celebrity. Although some of her shield siblings viewed her acceptance into their ranks as nothing more than nepotism, her skill in battle was undeniable. Whispers of an inner circle where the most elite Companions are allowed reached Quill’s ears. When she asked Artemis about this “inner circle” she confirmed that it existed, but asked her to keep it a secret and told her no more about it. From that point on, she was determined to join this exclusive club. Within a year, she was accepted into the Companion’s inner circle but was shocked to find out that the members of the circle including her own mother were all werewolves. This shock combined with the knowledge that her own mother kept such a big secret from her was too much to handle and she fled the ceremony before partaking in her mother’s blood to become a werewolf. After a heated argument with Artemis, Quill left home to become a freelance mercenary and adventurer. Despite eventually making up with Artemis, she decided that she enjoyed the freedom that came with being self-employed and didn’t return to the companions. She now wanders Tamriel in search of glory and adventure.
