With the campfire having been started, Fenrir wasted no time in placing the kettle on top of the metallic trivet and letting the water boil with the leaves inside of it [Domestic Arts C]. As the water began to warm up, the Wolfman would finally take notice of Jastira. He would tilt his head slightly, looking at the Fae, blinking a few times as his muzzled nose started a very peculiar sniffarino, complete with ears standing at attention [Heightened Senses (Hearing/Smell/Touch/Sight) C].

"My deepest of apologies. It was certainly not my intention to make you feel ignored." He would give the Fae a short bow, offering no excuses as to why it happened [Etiquette C]. And then, trying to take a better gander at her current emotions [Insight C], his mind reeled back to what she had said previously. "Now, to your question, I do have this odd feeling that something out there is observing me sometimes. Never felt exactly as it wants to see me gone. It isn't easy the easiest thing to explain... but it would be akin to something evaluating everything that has happened. It feels more like an observer than anything else." His furred eyebrows furrowed, the very thought of it making the butler slightly unnerved.

"Why not tackle the story of someone who hasn't received any boon from the gods?" Fenrir offered, his attention shifting from time to time to the kettle, waiting for the perfect temperature. "The struggle of someone destined to fail, who is trampled upon at every corner by the gods themselves have an appeal. Everyone is a sucker for the underdog. Just be careful to what crowd you are hoping to present it, lest you end up being branded a heretic or a heathen." That was as much as he could help Jastira with.

Fenrir's attention would next focus towards the dog person, with a few too many arms. 'Curious...' He thought to himself, his stoic expression betraying nothing. "<Indeed, our lady had mentioned the illustrious merchant that would come to visit us.>" Working along with Teti against that sucker, he would give the beastkin a polite bow [Etiquette C]. "<Just as Teti said, why don't you relax after your long trip, sir? Enjoy some of madam's exquisite blends, while Teti works wonders on your shoulders. What do you say?>" The Wolfman offered, retrieving the kettle from the trivet. And then, sticking his right arm into the air, accessing his [Pocket Dimension D], he would retrieve an adorned cup and saucer of his [Luxury Tea Set F].

With a flourish, that was more dramatical than practical, he poured the Moonlit Yewleaf and Dawnthorn into the cup, letting the merchant's nose catch the rich fragrance of the tea. "<Would you like sugar or honey with it?>"

Huffing quietly at Jethro's thanks, she turned her head to look off at nothing in particular as she rested her head back against the tree.
"You can just say 'Lei', no need for it all. Plus, it's nicer to hear" Lei softly offered, it'd probably be better on the tongue for Jethro to have to say as well. That being said, it would probably be better if he didn't feel a need to formally refer to her. For now, she tried to rest her head and fall into a comfortable state only to hear something Jethro had said that questionably raised her attention. What did he mean by that?
"Oh... that's... " she muttered, a bit silent on the topic. Might've not been so good to talk about having come close to killing the rabbit if she wasn't aware that it meant Jethro's life was also on the line. Feeling a little bit worse over herself and her actions for such, she fell quiet for a little moment as she was unsure how to take such information. Well, thinking about killing the rabbit probably wasn't going to happen anytime soon. Even if it would free her, Lei wasn't exactly sure if it was worth ridding the world of the only person who had been nice to her.
"That sucks... " Lei muttered in answer to Jet, who would go on to mention about her repayment. That being said, she was a little too distracted with the idea of Saoirse and Jethro's life being linked. Oh, Saoirse was a stupid one, who was to say if the rabbit's idiocy would walk her into a situation that would result in her death once again? Nevermind whether or not Ryuuji could save her, Lei doubted Saoirse would care to revive Jethro.

As for the part about being a noble, she just spoke softly.
"It's... long and complicated".
A bit too caught up in thoughts to respond, her pondering was broken by the interruption of the annoying rabbit and her annoying pets.

Despite Ryuuji's offer, she didn't think any sort of help or healing he could provide would truly help for long. With her condition, and those stuck in her company, it'd likely only be a minute or two before her aching mind was back to exactly how it was. That, and she didn't exactly want to accept any assistance from another slave. Not right now. Grumbling quietly, she'd huff and grit her teeth as Lei leaned her head away.
"Nooo" she uttered, gently waving her hand in dismissal.
"I don't need healing" Lei stubbornly answered in refusal, mumbling a low grumble under her breath as she denied such assistance. Pushing away such assistance, she wouldn't hold much thought on the attempts of kindness Ryuuji and Saoirse directed towards Jethro, listening again when Saoirse spoke to her. Even if it was annoying and grating on the ears. Either way, she didn't exactly have a single clue what the rabbit was talking about. Was there even a method to begin with? That would imply Saoirse was even trying to help her, which was debatable at best. Rolling her eyes, she tried not to put too much focus and thought into Saoirse's words as it was just bringing unnecessary attention to her when she didn't want it. It likely wouldn't be long before the rabbit was trying to harass her or waste her time with some ridiculous thing anyway.

"What would I need you for?" Lei questioned with a little annoyance, eyeing the rabbit as they allowed themselves open for if Lei had anything to ask. Saoirse was the last person who felt like they could help Lei with anything... well, maybe not, there were probably other candidates in the Slave group for that position. Either way, she grumbled quietly as she let the rabbit leave hoping to be left alone.

Trying to get some rest, she'd hear and notice Jethro respond to the offer Saoirse propose him. Although his answer didn't leave much thought, his visual reaction to it left questions. He seemed so strong-willed and controlled, a physical reaction to said offer was rather questionable. Even though she'd prefer to be left alone and rest, Lei imagined it would just prove more disappointing and annoying once she was eventually interrupted.
"You're fine. You don't have to go anywhere" Lei answered, having noticed some other noisy annoyance show up at the estate. She had no clue who they were, nor did she want to care. Sighing softly, she glanced to Jethro wondering if his nerves would calm any time soon.
"What's got you so riled up?" she'd ask a little bluntly, before taking a small breath and calming her blunt response that might sound a little harsh. Gently patting the ground beside her, she laid her head back and closed her eyes.
"Come rest. It'll be one of the only breaks you'll get. It's better to enjoy the time that you don't have some annoying pests constantly trying to breathe down your neck and tell you what to do... " Lei answered as she invited him over, trying to get some peaceful rest herself.

"To me, it looked like something unnatural. Either poisoning or magic did it." Diego added shortly when Saoirse questioned the group about possible reasons for the encampment being attacked, though his words mostly avoided the answer she would prefer to hear.

"Of course, I am willing to teach it to those who wish to learn. Though I will recommend all of you to drop your armor when I teach you it, learning to do it without armor is already a tad bit hard, and doing it in a full suit of armor is especially hard." Diego exclaimed as he looked at Saoirse when she spoke to him. He just hoped the monster binding would take a while, he did want to let Lei-Cao rest up, considering the state she was in. Whatever the pride of both Lei and Saoirse would allow them to see, that is something they would figure out.
"I do look up to the matches. Being able to use up the energy in me will feel nice."
He simply added with a clearly fake business-like smile on his face though, so far no one has called him out on it, so maybe they just thought it was his normal non-combat smile.

Diego simply nodded at Saoirse's order to come along, though as he was passing Lei-Cao and Jethro, he would mouth out to them said words.
"Rest up, you will need it. I know you two hate me, and that's a given. But I am not your enemy, not by my choice anyway."
After mouthing those words, he would return his helmet onto his head and venture with Saoirse and Melia to the crypt or whatever it was called.

Diego followed the two ladies to the mausoleum, but entered it first carefully coming down the stairs and scanning the place as he came down in case something changed, if nothing changed at least on a first glance he would move to the coffin from which the monster previously spoke from and would stand near it, his weapon drawn and ready to strike the creature if it acted badly.
"Well Boss lady do your magic."

Willow's attempts to cheer up Meiling were welcomed with a soft grin from Yurui. Though the sounds he was making were unheard of, he could confirm that he was being genuine by reading his attentions. Rarely did the little one get to play or interact with others her age, and if she did. It usually didn’t last.

People like Kellervo being the main one as he bitched and moaned about the three of them continuously. A smile would dance across Yurui’s face as he warned him not to use his magic on him. “What magic? I’m just a slave, remember? I can’t even read, let alone wield magic.” He replied with a coy grin. It’s natural for one to fear what they do not comprehend. Yurui never attacked a slave master outright. The same cannot be said for other slaves, particularly ones that tried to mess with him or Meiling. Triggering undesired bodily responses was always a favorite of his.

When Kellervo snatched Momo from Meiling, Yurui instinctively stepped forward. The urge for violence strong as he balled his fists up. The fat bear was beginning to lose his patience and just like every other slaver. He was going on a power trip. Yurui scoffed at his threat, as if he’d let that happen. Plan B was always on the table and after today, he was itching to run straight to it.

Yurui would calm himself down, and try to stay level headed in the situation. Escalating would only do them all a disservice, and should garner any negative titles. They would likely be hunted down as wild game. “You’re some real trash, you know? Picking on a child who did nothing wrong. Give Momo back and we’ll comply and get sold.” Yurui growled through gritted teeth.

Willow would take his stance between Yurui, Meiling, and Kellervo. Attempting to…protect them? There was no offense to the beastkin but he doubted they could harm a fly. The fact that they seemed harmless was a large reason why he didn’t mind him playing with Meiling. Luckily for the 3 of them, Kellervo would return Momo back to Meling. Yurui visually would relax the tension in his muscles at the sight of the two being reunited. Placing a hand on Melings back, he’d tuck her in close as they moved forward. Listening to Willow’s suggestion of letting them lead the way. “It’s going to be alright Mei. Let’s just be on our best behavior and he’ll be out of our lives after.”

They’d reach the sienna estate and it surely was unlike any place he had visited. Saiorse was a slaver right? Why did everyone seem to be slacking off? A coy smile would grow on Yurui’s face seeing Kellervo’s frustration. A kitty maid would greet them, offering respite after their long travel. At the mention of offering to assist Kellervo in relaxing, Yurui would step up and bow towards Teti.

“<Apologies if Master Kellervo seems tense, we’ve been giving him a hard time on the way here. I’m sure he’d love to take you up on that offer.>” He’d lift his head up and relay Willow's greeting. “<This is Willow, My name is Yurui.>” He’d place both hands on Meilings shoulders with a smile. “<And this is Meiling and her best friend Momo.>”

Ryuuji listened to Saoirse and then nodded. He wondered if Jethro would be willing to fight the bug queen, or was he scared? Ryuuji wouldn't blame him if he was, either way Jethro didn't seem to show much emotion on it. Even if the assassin type didn't care for him much Ryuuji was somewhat pleased to see he was at least trying to make an in with Lei-Cao. A more effective team was one that was at least willing to work together after all.

Even so the life warden then turned to Jastira.

"Right you are, I feel confident you're more than capable of that. It should be undeniable to anyone that your voice carries well and sounds beautiful regardless of their background." Ryuuji stated this factually, Jastira was objectively better at singing then most he knew.

He raised a brow before shrugging subtly, He intentionally did not name anyone by name, even if he was overheard, it wouldn't be obvious without context.

"I'm..not actually sure about their opinions on those matters, it could just be a lack of attention, I can't really personally relate, I hope you don't mind it coming from a human like myself, but you're rather captivating, and I do genuinely mean that, it's definitely helpful to have that quality for a stage presence."

before continuing with her, "Perhaps you could add that sort of experience into the song, it fits with the theme if there was to be an omnipotent being above targeting someone like yourself no?"

He then looked to Lei-Cao and gave a bit of a formal slight forward bow. "Very well then, If you change your mind or if I could be of assistance in another way, feel free to let me know. In either case it doesn't take a construct tinkerer to see that you need some proper rest." He'd state matter of fact once more. He'd leave Jethro and Lei-Cao to hanging out then.

Saoirse Desrosiers

8gBjbx8.png

Jethro had been in luck that Saoirse hadn't spent any time observing him further as she'd just moved on to the mausoleum with Diego and Melia. She also hadn't slowed down for Lei, giving Lei had given her the exact response she'd expected. Having started off on the wrong foot with both of them, even if for reasons she still believed legitimate, would mean it'd take a lot more time to get them to work along more. That said, she's already proven she was one to give up. Perhaps one day they might get tired of hating her. Just not today, that much as already clear.

This estate was the same thing. It was getting tiresome to unlock it all, but she wasn't one to give up on it easily. She'd wait for Diego and Melia to make their ways into the mausoleum first, as they looked around for the right tomb. “The middle one in the east row, if I recall correctly.” She'd comment. Thankfully, she'd brought torches this time in order to light up this place. As Diego and Melia took position, Saoirse took out the catalyst-like artefact that her brother gave her. It was glowing every the more brightly, until something in it seemed to crack. Both in the coffin and in the catalyst-like item alike. “That's... not supposed to happen.” Saoirse worried.

The moment things cracked, some sort of mist started to spill out of the tomb... which eventually started to take more and more of a shape...

Finally, some sort of giant ghost-like feminine form was standing, or perhaps floating, in front of them all. “Oh my, it's sooooo good to be out of that musty old coffin~ It totest sucks to be stuck in that thing for.... gosh, so long! So long!” She looked at Diego, then a Melia. “So which of you two is my noble saviour~ The rough and handsome looking guy with eyes like he's seen any horror in existence and turned them into rose-coloured dreams or the lass who looks so fierce she can break my ghastly heart with just a stare?” It seemed she hadn't even noticed the vertically challenged slave-owner yet. “As I can guarantee you that either could take me away and bind me to your biddings without even needing any fancy tools~ If I wasn't stuck to this estate at least~ Although if you were to be its new owners, managing the estate again should be better than ever~”

As she spoke, there was something slightly ominous sounding beneath every single word, yet it also sounded rather non-threatening. It was a bit tough to make sense of it all, at least for now. Perhaps with some skill and effort they might be able to start making out more of just what they were dealing with here.

Kullervo
Q7yN6GM.jpeg

He looked at Meiling with nothing other than annoyance. However... Meilings pleading got him a great idea. “Do that in front of the rabbit as well. Perhaps we can get her to pay extra for this creature, so I can get some of my losses back. If not, I might need to sell it separately after all.” He'd whisper to Meiling, as he was a merchant at heart, a nice one, but still a merchant. Profit needed to be made.

The other creature, Willow, not interacting with him was probably best for both parties involved. Yet Yurui did not take such a stance. “You'd best get sold or you're bound to forever regret those words.” Thankfully, Yurui was clever enough to make up for it by admitting his faults to the other slaves. “That they have. They know how to test the limits of nice folk like me. An even slight less friendly master would've surely whipped them into an unsellable state by now.”

Teti was very quick to join in as well, saying all the right things in the right language.“<Perhaps I might be willing to ignore it for a little bit...>” He'd state, as he'd move over to casually usher Ryuuji and Jastira away so that he could stand in the shade of the tree they'd stood under. “<An estate without a key into it? That sounds... Odd. I do hope she at least has the funds to buy any of the goods she ordered if she can't even afford an accessible estate.>” He sounded a tad concerned at that part.

“<Indeed, I am rather exhausted from dealing with these three. Although to not even have a proper seat to sit upon... The situation your lady finds herself in is rather... dire, shall we say?>” He clearly tried to be some degree of polite with regards to Saoirse, but struggled at it. “<Relaxing in such an environment? I'm not sure how you'd possibly make such a thing possible, no matter how honeyed the promise itself might be.>” The seduction had some effect, but not a lot, as the environment was really working against Teti right now when it came to the big bad doggo's preferences.

He did have another idea. “<Has your mistress granted you a budget? If so, we might as well start up business straight away.>” He'd state, as he pulled a large book out of a [Pocket Dimension]. “<This is a catalogue of all the items I'm currently able to offer.>” He then pulled out a list of things with another hand. “<These are the specific things your lady offered. Although I'm not sure where you'd even store them.>” He'd offer the list for whomever would find themselves high-ranking enough to take and look over it, if any would to begin with.

Fenrir made a good first impression, his bow standing out a lot. “<Now there's someone with manners. It seems your lady might not be inside of an respectable property, but at least she owns some respectable property after all.>” He shook his head on the question of sugar or honey. “<Milk, or perhaps sugarcane if you have it. Otherwise just the tea will do.>” He'd add, eyeing the tea set with some surprise. It was clearly far nicer than anything you might expect near a campfire.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jastira Veidi
89qdlDt.png

YHl3aGi.png

Jastira was surprised to suddenly hear Teti speaking her native tongue. “{You learned Sylvan..?}” As for the contents of his words. “{I see... You traversed the deserts, did you not? Perhaps you could share some stories to see about making them into songs, in that case.}” She was looking for new sources of inspiration and seeing how quickly Teti seemed to get to their mistress, she figured it'd be neat to have him on her side sooner rather than later.

As for Fenrir, he'd just see Jastira being really confused at being ignored entirely, then apologised to in just as strong a manner, by him and Teti alike. Still, she'd nod at his answer. “Perhaps more than one deity is watching. It'd explain why the lady has gotten into trouble with one.” That was all she'd conclude for now. “Hmmm... an underdog story... Perhaps... Yet it might be risky here. Many 'underdogs' here are slaves and I doubt they'd like me writing about them rising through the ranks or something.” She'd debate it.

Although a new person, Willow, arrived and suddenly spoke Sylvan as well. “{Right... eh... hello.}” She looked at him confused. He seemed more beast then fae, but still somewhat Fae. “{I'm Jastira Veidi.}” She realised it might be needlessly impolite to skip introductions, so she'd at least give him her name. That said, she was still a tad confused. “{Although I'll admit I want to know... what are you and why are you here?}” Curiosity had gotten the better of her.

That's when she spotted Yurui and blinked. “{Wow, those are so pretty.}” She'd mumble, looking at his horns. “Excuse me, mister, would those happen to be natural catalysts of some sort?” She'd ask, seemingly pretty fascinated by his horns.

A happy nod at Ryuuji's compliments later, she'd reply. “I'm glad you understand.” That's when he took it even further... The tips of her ears twitching a bit. “I mean, you mean, I guess?” She wasn't sure what he was trying to pull here. “Hmmm.... That would make for an interesting song for sure...” She'd mumble, thinking about how to tie those subjects together.

As for Lei, she'd frown. “Shouldn't you just forcefully heal her. The mistress would probably appreciate you helping her property to stop from devaluing.” She'd whisper to him.

Jethro Noiren

In their brief respite from the rat, Jethro picked on a couple of things. "Mm. Lei. Noted. It does roll off the tongue better." It was probably the most humor Jethro had on him at the moment. Was it even humor? He opted to set that aside and focus on what shocked Lei more. "Don't sweat it." he offered, "If you can keep her dead, be my guest." A dry laugh ensued. Maybe... That was the last of his humor.

"If you want to keep that, it's fine" Jethro stated, matter-of-factly. He wasn't about to ruin what decent company he had here by being nosy.

And then the rat dropped by, running her damn mouth about things that don't concern her. No one. Not him. He has to stay away. Jethro kept the cold front he used on the Rat, steady as a rock. Not acknowledging the Jackass' words, the "work" ones, or the more direct ones. A glare was kept for a moment, but he really wasn't in the mood for a fight. Just great. He won't even be able to vent if things kept like this.

Now, It was just him and Lei-Cao again.

Unsure of what to make of Lei telling him he could stay, he took a moment to process what to do now. Still very much shaken, with not much will to hide it. It was agonizingly tiring. And as he suspected, she already noticed anyway. "It's a long and..." he stopped from doing as Lei did earlier. Instead, he took a deep breath "Well... Bah, it's not like I have much else to me now, dammit..." the swordsman took off one of his gloves, and loosened some of the wraps underneath. Jethro showed his hand to the minotaur. "See those thin black lines on my joints? The Hive Queen." Jethro realized that his words kind of scrambled. Another deep breath took place before he continued "She killed me before this circus here... And she also revived me. But not as pleasantly as Mop Head's magic. I was, chopped to bits. Then, she stitched me back up, like one of her own. These lines are proof of her precision. needles and blades I still remember some of... Which also came with becoming mind controlled..." Jethro certainly wasn't a storyteller, but it's what he managed.

He then redid his wraps and gloved his hand. If Lei were to look his way, she would also see lines going down from his eyes to his jaw. One under each eye. And then one around his neck. "Did... that make sense?" he wanted to confirm he didn't butcher the tale as much as he was butchered in it.

"<Quite the exotic and interesting palate>." Fenrir murmured upon hearing Kullervo's preference. Sticking his arm into the [Pocket Dimension] once more, the Wolfman would retrieve a few sticks of sugarcane (since Lei-Cao refused to provide milk, how inconsiderate!). Breaking it up into smaller pieces with his raw strength alone, the butler placed them into the tea cup. Approaching the merchant, he would lean towards him, offering the tea to the beastkin. "<Here you go, sir.>"

After having delivered the tea, the Wolfman began looking at Kullervo's catalog, browsing some of his wares. "<Would you happen to have one-handed swords and armor that won't happen to hinder me too much? I'm afraid my capabilities have far surpassed the items I'm using currently.>" Posing the question, he considered his newly attained [Strength A] and [Speed A]. Fenrir's eyes would slide towards Ryuuji, tilting his head to the side slightly. "<Ryuuji, do you think you would be able to do business in the mistress' place? It seems you are the most proper for that.>" There was a sense of propriety in his words. Considering all interactions so far, the human would be the proper one to conduct business in Saoirse's absence... for now.

"<Yurui, Willow, Meiling and Momo...>" Repeating the names of the newcomers, tasting their sonority on his lips, Fenrir's bestial gaze washed over them, his expression stoic for the moment. "<... slaves, giving a hard time for their own master and bringing a foul mood to him? Oh my, I have never seen such a thing.>" Sarcasm dripped from the butler's tone, as he shot a glance towards Lei-Cao at the distance. Eventually, his gaze turned to Yurui. "<And they are for sale, I assume?>" The Wolfman asked Kullervo without breaking eye contact to the horned one.

Fenrir would begin to approach the quartet with heavy steps. And, after reaching just a few steps from them, he would begin circling them. With each footstep, his bestial eyes scanned them in turn, from head-to-toe, appraisingly. "<And what are their specialties?>" Fenrir posed another question, not with any of them, no, but to the merchant, even as his eyes locked towards the feline one. They aren't supposed to be addressed directly, at least for the moment. "<Aside from self-confessed behavioral problems, anything else that the mistress should take note?>" He kept tasting the waters, keeping his ears sharp with [Insight C] in case he heard something amiss, the domestic stoic gaze finally falling upon the small one.

Teti looked over to Jastira "{ I can latter we have a little bit of work to do till our lady gets back if you have a way to get her that would be most helpful}" Teti said he was just trying to entertain the slaver till their mistress returned. It did irk him that he wasn't able to simply stand in for her just yet for things, but that would be Ryuji as Fenrir pointed out.

Teti would look over the slaves and give them something of a smile though he was little busy as Fenrir got the tea ready Teti would rub and message the four armed dog man's shoulders something anyone could do and the motions more than anything relaxed others. The irritable dog man was far more the normal slaver and it seemed that the slaves he had didn't like him, well Teti doubted he would like him unless he had charmed the dog man. That was why Saorise was the best option for him to stay with. Teti was annoyed with Fenrir did show him up, but well his cold formal demeanor was a good contrast to Teti's more friendly attitude they made a decent pair. Still fenrir was asking like a normal buyer not asking for what Saorise would want. Teti decided to perhaps play this a bit unconventional as their mistress was.

"< Our mistress has very specific tastes good merchant, while she can pay we might have to be a bit unorthodox with our questioning >" Teti said with [ Etiquette F ] and [persuasion E ] to get the merchant to not be to harsh in judgments for the real questions and that he was going to ask the slaves a very unorthodox question.

Teti would move from the merchant for a moment to Fenrir closer to the slaves " I think you an i both know the real question our lady wants answered" Teti said switching to common just in case someone didn't understand beastal here though the cat speaking sylvan seemed a bit different " If you want to be taken in by our lady there is one truly important question you must answer, what can you flourish in, what is your passion, your desire in life? " Teti asked them directly and asked the same in sylvan for willow. Saorsie wouldn't want some slave that had no ambition no drive no skills.

Teti moved to Meiling the smallest for them " Like for say raising this cute little critter here " giving the little dragon girl an answer and a way to keep the small animal she seemed so attached to. Teti had younger sisters and so he felt a bit protective of the small dragon girl being so young and with a more stereotypical slaver. He would lean in an whisper " Do not worry our lady is very nice i'll make sure we get both you and your buddy " Teti promised he would use every trick he needed to in order to keep that promise as well though he doubted he would need to.

Meiling stood quietly beside Yuurui, hugging Momo tightly against her chest. Her golden eyes, still glistening from earlier tears, slowly widened with quiet awe as she took in her surroundings. Everything here felt different—strange, even. The other slaves seemed comfortable, moving about freely, speaking openly, even making tea! Her gaze flitted back and forth between the relaxed servants and Kullervo’s displeased reaction, unsure which she was meant to imitate.

Then the Wolfman appeared—majestic, dignified, and far more impressive than anything she'd ever seen. Meiling's mouth fell slightly agape, her eyes wide with innocent admiration. He looked like he stepped right out of a fairy tale! She squeezed Momo even tighter, trying to contain the sudden urge to rush forward and cuddle the fluffy Wolfman, whose thick, luxurious fur looked impossibly soft. She fidgeted anxiously, her tiny fingers twitching, clearly wanting to reach out—but she restrained herself, remembering Yuurui’s advice about good behavior.

When the handsome, friendly cat-man leaned down to reassure her gently, Meiling looked up at him with a renewed spark of hope. His words felt kind, warm, and comforting. Determined to make a good impression, she took a small, nervous breath, stepping forward bravely. She spoke loudly—perhaps too loudly—her voice trembling but resolute, and her tail swishing nervously behind her.

"I-I... I'm Meiling, and I'm gonna be the b-best dragon ever!" she declared bravely, her little wings fluttering excitedly as she tried to appear impressive and strong. "A-and I'm gonna raise the fluffiest, cutest, strongest animals and m-monsters, 'cause I'm the very best at—"

She bit her tongue lightly, cutting herself off abruptly with a small squeak. Her cheeks flushed bright pink with embarrassment as she quickly covered her mouth, eyes wide in alarm.

"Owie..." she mumbled softly, her voice muffled by her hands, peeking sheepishly up at Teti, Yurui, and the Wolfman. She hugged Momo again tightly, shyly whispering into his fur, "I-I'll be better next time, promise."

Lei listened to Jethro as he showed his hand, looking over the oddly marked skin and hearing the reasoning behind it. Guess it truly turned out that Jethro too had been having a miserable downhill spiral of events in life. Grumbling softly, she let him finish as she gave him a small nod of her head.
"Yeah, it makes sense. Though even I'd imagine this 'Hive Queen' made a better owner when it came to caring about you or improving you. They did go through the efforts of piecing you back together after all, and working under them must've improved your combat skills a lot. Might've been a ████load to go through, but it was probably more interesting than being stuck here. At least you had that" Lei spoke softly in response, seeing the good and bad of it. More than anything, it might've made a much better opportunity than being stuck under the annoying rabbit's ownership. That was something she could atleast attest to. Hearing a light rumble from her stomach after having not eaten in what feels like forever, the minotaur defiantly put off the struggling feel as she glared around.

"The way I see it, Saoirse only keeps you around out of spite and petty revenge. I can't understand what petty reason she has for keeping me, but it must be to have someone to hate and harass until the end of days. Seems quite obvious considering we're the only two who don't want to be slaves, and yet we receive all the ████. Mhm... " Lei hummed softly for a moment, her eyes and ears picking up on whatever was going on between the others and the merchant that had shown up. Overhearing whatever nonsense about slaves and the mutt and sewer-rat talking whatever nonsense in response, she rolled her eyes.

"And lo and behold- for I am never wrong" Lei answered to Jethro, lightly and harmlessly jabbing him with her arm, albeit her muscular and larger build might make it more of a push than intended. Gesturing to the others with her head, she'd slump back.

"If that fat dog thing is here to pawn off more useless cretins, it's exactly my point. Saoirse doesn't give a ████ about any of us, except for the pride and ego she gets from useless idiots worshipping her like some sort of gifted deity... when all that she has comes from being spoonfed riches from her annoying family and parents. I hope you have an idea on what to do with your life, since the rabbit's likely looking to turn her collection of pets into a zoo at this rate. I already know that if a new instance comes along where I could result in an unrevivable death... well, 'accidents happen', don't they?" Lei uttered in a rather low and lifeless tone, being trapped here was worse than a death sentence. At least a death sentence meant it was gonna all be over soon, and in an instant. Plus, the other slaves the hideous creature had brought along looked more disappointing than anything.

"And they all look worth nothing too. That's Saoirse's favourite thing in a pet" Lei answered to Jethro sarcastically, trying to push off the downtrodden tones of her last words. Yurui and Willow looked entirely forgettable and meaningless, just like the rest of those idiots who mindlessly followed Saoirse. As for the last member, she squinted a little just to check she was seeing things right.

"Is that a child? Of course that's what these vile idiots are doing now. What's the point in even tryna consider it? What disgusting depravity don't these idiots have?" Lei muttered. Despite her resonating hunger, sickness and headache, she'd already had enough of the clown fiesta in her presence. Pushing herself up, she'd grab the hilt of her mace.

"I can't be ████ed to sit around here any longer. Saoirse can cry about it all she wants, I'm going somewhere else for now. I'll probably find more solace in the woods. It's not like we can enter this stupid estate to begin with" she answered, stepping towards the thick of the local woods as she glanced at Jethro.

"I'm sure you'll probably find something to kill in there if you look hard enough, it'd give something to eat that likely isn't from the untrustworthy hands of these lot. That is, if you were willing to deny sitting around like some rodent's little good boy on a leash. Or, if you'd wish to torture yourself being around these idiots, be my guest" Lei answered to Jethro, essentially tempting him in a way that she likely imagined he wouldn't want to turn down her offer afterwards. Either way, she went to walk away from the estate with her weapon in tow and giving a small look back to Jethro to see if he'd be willing to live a little and abandon the playpen Saoirse expected him to abide by.

"That and, if Saoirse wants to pretend to be nice, this'll probably ████ her off. You wouldn't want to come along and see just how long she's willing to put up the act?" Lei offered.

Actions
1. Walk away from the Estate towards local woods/forest, inviting Jethro if he wants to come to avoid the slaves and to spite Saoirse
2. Go start looking for wild animals and creatures to hunt/kill

Although Willow felt confused by the unfamiliar languages spoken by those around him, he did talk to Jastira, and a wave of relief washed over him. Someone understood his home language!

{Oh hi! Finally, someone who understands Sylvan, my name is Willow. I am a felinite…apparently, but from what I was told by the fae village that taught me their ways. felinites are basically fae born from the souls of dead cats. Why am I here?.. I don’t know.}

He admitted

{I don’t know the languages most people here have been speaking—I thought the other animal-like people would also speak the language of the woodlands. However, every time I attempt to speak in it…people seem more aggressive and confused. But…they speak something similar to it, it’s just different at the same time. So no one has really translated why I am here, I have guesses but not a full understanding. I can only speak the language of Fae and the language of Woodlands…}

he turned to Teti. {Thank you for translating your words for me Mister. passions…Cooking and Business? oh and craftsmanship Though my skills as an artisan are weaker then my skills to cook and run a business. I am decent at those currently. Those would be the areas I wish to ‘flourish’ in so to speak.}

It was a response aimed at Jastira and Teti. After Seeing Meiling’s reaction he swung his head towards her. He patted her head to gesture as he asked.

{are you okay little Kitty? What happened?}

He didn’t know why he attempted to ask—he didn’t understand her and she didn’t understand him. Maybe she could gesture towards it.

Yurui battled against the annoyance raging in his head, Just got to make it past today and then we're home free from this piece of shit. It was time to get sold, for Meiling's sake. Also for Yurui's, all the threats being shot her way was starting to piss him off. As Jastira came into view, the horned man would back up slightly as he gauged her intentions. Telepathy wasn't even needed to know that she was fixated on his horns. He questioned whether or not he should tell her the truth. Should they turn out to be a group of cannibals or something, he would be rendered useless if they cut his horns off.

Yurui would shake his head no, though one with enough [insight] could tell it was a blatant lie.

There was a look of fascination as Fenrir's hand entered a pocket dimension of sorts; there was an aura about him in the way he carried himself. Even Meiling noticed it, her desire to pet him brimming at the forefront of her mind. Surprise rested on his eyebrows when Fenrir asked if Kellervo possessed any weapons or armor. He wasn't even purchasing for his master but himself, which was unheard of. Maybe Saiorse was as eccentric as people said. "Meiling is my sister." Yurui would add on for Fenrir to note as he gently reminded Meiling he was still there. As Teti explained what their master is looking for in slaves, the horned human couldn't help but feel like this was beginning to feel more like an interview. Though surprise would lift in his eyes when he sensed some compassion coming from Teti in particular towards Meiling, who seemed to be feeling a bit timid with all the eyes on her. A bit of appreciation would show in Yurui's gaze as it softened a bit.

"Meiling has a gift for making friends with just about anyone." He'd emphasize the last part as his eyes flashed to Kellervo for a beat before he looked towards Teti. Feeling slightly more willing to share.

"My name is Yurui, I would like to be a bodyguard." He'd pat meiling on the head with an earnest smile before kneeling and wiping the tears from her eyes. Yurui would then place his thoughts into Teti's mind [Telepathy F]. ["I also can project my thoughts into the minds of others and read surface-level thoughts."] The horned man would add, choosing not to face Teti when he spoke to her. Instead, he'd move on to tending to his sister.

"Are you okay, Mei?" he'd ask, checking in on her.

Jethro Noiren

"That's..." Lei's words hit Jethro surprisingly hard. Better off with the Queen? Being rebuilt in a foreign body, mentally forced to only think of serving her, senselessly killing in her name... He may not have been under that influence for that long, and still, it's a hell he was more than confident he didn't want to go back to her. Not now. Not ever. The sting he felt was visible for a moment, but he rebuilt his stoic front as fast as he could, and simply tried to move on with his chat with Lei.

Jethro sighed softly before giving a response to Lei "Right you are. Given how things unfolded for me, clearly I breathe because of spite." The assassin then glanced over to the rest of the group. Chatting away with a big freakish dog. A typical Imperial asshole, by what little he managed to see and hear from where he was sitting.

After the unintended push Lei gave him, Jethro sat up, expectant. "Tell me about it..." Is what he ended up answering. Lei's words struck him as true. Which only fed his previous exhaustion further. "Accidents do happen" he repeated even more monotonal than when Lei said it. His head was beginning to get fogged by confusing thoughts. Thoughts that clouded Lei's words. At least until she gave him a strong choice to make. "...Go on. I..." What? What was exactly what he wanted right now? Lei's company was the best there was here. But he felt an immense weight forcing him down. "...I'll leave you be. Have fun." He was shocked by how much his previous life and death weighed on him. It angered him, it scared him, it demotivated him.

Unsure on what to do, he simply let his eyes wander around in silence. Stopping at times on the people around. So there was indeed a child. A small dragonkin of sorts. Again his thoughts were too clouded to actually make something out of the Rat actually owning a little girl. There was also a bit of sword talk he picked on. Jethro slowly drew out his older sword to inspect it. Polished, sturdy, reliable. And yet, at this point he needed something beyond that. More like his more recently acquired blade. Two of those would be nice.

Then again, all that would mean he was a capable fighter. Was he? At this point he was doubting even that.

Ryuuji had been talking to Jastira, that was until they got some more company between the new comers, a slave trader and then Fenrir who admittedly helpfully came over to interact as well.

Ryuuji would move out of the way of the slaver who apparently wanted to be under the tree, he wasn't about to fight him on that. It would cause needless conflict and would be far from pleasing to Saoirse.

The next order of business was to give the slaver a bow of acknowledgment and respect, so he did just that with Etiquette F.
Had he been addressed he might have commented on the situation of the estate, but it looked like that conversation bit was already being handled by others who had been addressed.

"<Of course.>" Ryuuji replied to Fenrir. Thankfully Fenrir was someone who he found himself getting along with relatively well and who had continued to be sensible.

He then respectfully took the list that Kullervo offered up, by all accounts he was high ranking with his title distinctions in relation to being owned by Saoirse and the distinctive role he had been given. He looked over the list to see if anything stuck out, with Business E before looking back at the slaves briefly, and what Teti had been doing, hopefully Teti's actions, looks and skills would come in handy here to help the slaver be more agreeable or at ease, as Ryuuji was well aware the current incomplete status of the estate was far from ideal. Should Ryuuji notice any item(s) in particular from either list that could be useful in negotiations in some form , he'd commit them to memory with his Feature: Mental Compartmentalization + Feature: Eidetic Memory.

Ryuuji also did not speak directly to the new coming slaves for the time being, but he did listen to their answers. The young one did have an animal companion of sorts, had she befriended it? And the horned one claimed he had psychic like abilties perhaps? Then there was the cat like one who Ryuuji really wasn't entirely sure due to the language barrier.

"<With all due respect, before I can say the mistress would be willing to part with anything in exchange for any of these individuals, it is as my co-workers say. A formal showing of skills would be incredibly helpful in determining who she would be interested in. While she isn't entirely opposed to purchasing the mundane, she's much more interested in those who show promise in a niche or seem..capable. Which if the case, I can assure you is mutually better for both parties.>"

He knew it's what Saoirse would have done as far as that went, she always wanted to see what a slave could do before buying.

Ryuuji was honest while doing his best to be respectful. Anything less than that as far as the slaves went would likely be delegated to less desirable basic tasks and not given the same privileges the main cohort of the most valuable slaves were given at least until those slaves could prove themselves to his mistress, Ryuuji was well aware of Saoirse thought process toward these things by this point with how long he'd been with her.

"And Jastira and or Teti...if you could help with some of the fae Language barriers which may crop up here that would be an appreciated." He'd also add to the both of them.

Before he looked back to Jasira and gave her a bit of a smirk. "I think you and I both know I simply spoke the truth." Soon after taking notice how much interest she seemed to have in the new comers horns, they were indeed interesting, but he didn't want Kullervo to think they were desperate by any means.

Hopefully at some point she'd be willing to teach him Sylvan or someone for that matter, seemed it would be helpful, just like he'd offer to help her out with magic some time if she desired awhile ago.

For good effect Ryuuji would also leverage his title, [Beast Charmer] – Character is a non-beast that has found a way to make themselves more like-able to [Beast] characters.

"Yeah, yeah, boss. I might have a hard time remembering names, but that does not mean I don't remember places." Diego said in an almost self-mocking manner as he turned to the right tomb, even if he was just one tomb off the correct one.

"Well shit." He spat from his mouth upon hearing the item did something it was not meant to do... The emergence of a ghost was even worse thing since generally weapons did jack shit to them, even if he could make a magical edge around his weapon he doubted it would help much. At least the ghosty was a nice looking one, and not some nightmare horror thingy.

"I might have seen horrors unimaginable. But I am not the boss here. And even if I were your boss, I have a boss of my own." Diego replied not without really any spite in it or venom, it was just facts to him. He did, though, nudge his head in Saoirse's direction when he said she was his boss, even if it was in a roundabout way.

"But your offer is tempting. So consider me interested. But then again, we are getting off topic, and we can talk about this later. Diego's the name, by the way." He responded a bit tempted by her words, he did not know if she was interested in him or if it was just a bit of sweet talking but he did want to see it through if not to see if she was a danger to his boss, but if he could earn something from this as well. He did miss a having a girlfriend by his side, even if from his previous two, the first one ended up dead and the second one was a living painting....

“Not the boss, got it~” The ghost replied cheerfully as she turned towards where Diego was nudging... Looked straight over Saoirse, not even spotting her... then faciung Melia. “It'll be my honour to serve...”

“It's not me either.” Melia stated. She knew it was rude to point, but at this point there was no point in not pointing out the obviously point that their mistress was the vertically challenged one between the both of them. So she'd point at Saoirse.

Saoirse Desrosiers

The rabbit herself, feeling surprisingly conscious about her height right now, held up the tool in question. “I've bought the Estate and with it the [monster] bound to it. I'm assuming that's you. Do you have a name?” She did her best to just ignore the fact she'd been overlooked altogether.

It left Saoirse rather baffled. “It seems nothing is going as I expected or planned.” She sighed. “At least this thing seems to work.” She looked at the catalyst, which was still glowing. “Perhaps we can even take down the barrier with it now.” It was a bit far-fetched, but there was hope. “Let's go return to the others and hope that ghost-girl isn't going to be trouble.”

As they left the mausoleum, she did genuinely wonder. “Say, Diego, does any of your past experience teach you how to deal with entities like this one just now?”

Kullervo
Q7yN6GM.jpeg

“<One learns to appreciate some of the finer, more exotic things, when travelling and interacting with wares from across the world as much as I do.>” The merchant answered to Fenrir. His [Hearing] sharp enough to pick up on murmurs. He looked a tad grossed out when Fenrir broke it with his hands and just dropped it in. No gloves, no washing hands, no rinsing, no nothing. “<Right...>” He'd say, accepting the tea and setting it aside just as quickly. Who knew when that slave had last washed his hands. Perhaps never. His earlier etiquette seemed more for show right now.

Upon asking for weaponry, the merchant looked him up and down. “<Yes, your mistress has ordered such things. I believe she specifically asked for 'large sized light armour in suit form' and 'ornate, but strong and useful curved blades' if I'm not mistaken. I can see why. Although she also ordered 'minotaur-sized' armour and weaponry, with enough chest room? As well as a variety of potions, training equipment, bows, catalysts, ... The list of things she ordered is rather long. It's why I came to this deal personally, as she's promising to become a valuable patron.>” He didn't take out said goods, however, as there didn't seem to be anyone present of a good enough standing to trade with him.

Kullervo did seem to lighten up a little when Fenrir showed some empathy. “<Indeed, indeed. If I weren't a merchant, but a trainer, I might've spent some decades learning how to tone them down. Yet as they're just passing through, it's even more tough to teach them to behave. Especially if the guild hasn't taught them Common sense. Thankfully, these should know the basics by now. I made sure of it myself.>” He'd say with a cocky grin that seemed a bit out of place. One that didn't hold up against Fenrir's Insight and showed the man was trying to get away with a cheap and easy bluff (Deception D).

“<They'll gladly explain their talents to your mistress themselves, when she arrives.>” He'd add, seeming to wish to brush past the topic. “<Why don't you look at my other wares in the meantime? I can see you're an avid connoisseur of tea.>” He took out a small notebook and handed it over. “<These are all the leaves, roots and herbs I could acquire within a mere week, if your mistress would so desire.>”

He'd look at Teti with some amusement. “<Unorthodox, you say?>” A small chuckle escaped him. Even the lady's slaves seem to know about her flourishing obsession. He'd prepared his slaves well. These would be sold like hot-cakes, now he was sure of it.

Upon seeing Meiling fail to introduce herself well, he'd jump in. “As you can see, that one's still young. Full of potential. Dragon-like beasts like her would cost a fortune as an adult, but she's still affordable when young. Your mistress might not see the potential immediately, but I can assure you, she'd thank you if you convinced her to buy this one. There's lots of potential.” Sadly enough, Teti made a promise that he was more than eager to abuse. “<Right, about that buddy of hers. I must admit it's rather rare, so it's about as valuable as the slave herself, perhaps even more so. I'm fine to sell them as a deal, of course, but it'd come at a considerable extra.>” He was glad Teti had already made that promise and more than eager to make him, or rather his mistress, pay in full to live up to it.

When Ryuuji accepted the list, a lot of things stood out. Yet none of them in a bad way. It was just... a lot. Saoirse hadn't been cheap on hoping to supply them, it seemed. The only notable thing she hadn't ordered were more slaves. There wasn't a single mention of it in there.

“<I'm sure they'll show off their skills to her in due time, when she arrives.>” He'd once again promise (or rather, bluff) to Ryuuji. “<In the meantime, feel free to get to know them.>” He'd add, hoping he could use Saoirse's own slaves against her by getting them to argue for buying these newcomers.

“<Also, seeing how you seem to be in charge for now...>” He'd hand Ryuuji some sort of balance sheet. “<I'm guessing you'd be allowed to run the numbers.>” It seemed Ryuuji's [Beast Charmer] title had given him just barely enough leverage to look at the bill. A chunky bill at that. Most notably, one that didn't offer any version of discount whatsoever, despite the bulk purchase you'd normally assume to come with some form of benefit/discount.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jastira Veidi
89qdlDt.png

YHl3aGi.png

“{Of course.}” She'd reply to Teti wanting to talk later, although she'd shake her head. “{If you're asking me to go tell the lady to hurry up, you've got the wrong person. I'm not a glutton for punishment.}” She'd deny his request.

She was more surprised by how much the dog-like Fae started talking. “{Right, yes. It's my native tongue.}” She'd reply, although confused by his species. “{Feline.. ah, right.}” Cat-like person. She was more surprised by the cat-like person, she correct her own thoughts. “{The souls of dead cats... I wonder which of the cardinals would reside over such a process.}” It was something Jastira hadn't heard about before, but it did sound intriguing. “{It sounds like it'd make for an interesting folk song.}”

Upon the next bits, she'd scoff. “{They speak Beastial, a more linguistically structured language compared to the animal noises you were doing. Yet still not nearly as sophisticated as Sylvan, of course.}” As for why he was here, she'd shook her head. “{You're enslaved. Your life is now someone's property, to do with as they please. Beat you up, eat you, torture you, make you do forced labour, use you until you die, try doing other things to you...}” A shiver ran down her spine as she recalled her previous owner, Dranth. “{I'd suggest trying to get the lady to buy you, she's been by far the best owner in this Spirit-King forsaken nation. Your situation is utterly horrible, but having someone like her own you is by far the best you can make of it. Sometimes I'd almost forget I've lost my freedom and right to self-determination.}” She'd admit the last bits begrudgingly.

Wanting to help a fellow Fae, even if a half-blood, she'd give him some advise. “{Lay it on more thickly. Ensure her that you want nothing more than to flourish in such things. That'd have the best chance at getting her convinced... }”

She'd sigh, looking at Meiling. “Willow's asking if you're okay.” She'd translate for him.

As for Yurui, she ended up falling for his lie. Assuming the horns were just fancy and nothing else. “The lady's got a lot of body-guards already. If you want to impress someone, you'd need something different or somehow prove to be better than all of them.” She wasn't sure why, but she was in a decent mood today. Willing to try help out.

Seeing how she was already helping with the language barrier, she'd just nod to Ryuuji. “Sure.” It was good speaking her native tongue again regardless. She tried to ignore his added teasing, but it did make the tips of her ears redden up a bit more.

Fenrir stared at Kullervo for a moment, seeing the beastkin set the tea aside. That made him raise one of his furred eyebrows for a while, before his expression went back to neutral. With the slaver's bluff being caught by his own insight, the butler now had some information, which could end up saving the mistress quite many coins. And, while the beastkin had no idea if Saoirse cared for saving coin, it didn't hurt to haggle, did it? "The triangle is copper, not silver." He told Ryuuji in a rather codified manner.

"<Minotaur shaped armor with ample chest space, that ought to be Lei-Cao's armor. Unfortunately, it seemed that she had other pressing matters to attend to.>" Fenrir motioned his long muzzle to where she had been moments before, the place now finding itself empty. "<Both my armor and weapon seems to check as well. However, potions?>" Tilting his head, that had been the first time he was hearing about any potions. "<Well, I'm sure alchemy is as good of a pastime as any other. Who knows when a specific drop will be necessary.>"

The merchant avoiding the demonstration from the slaves, seeing that they would perform when Saoirse was present just raised even more Fenrir suspicions. Whoever, since Ryuuji was already dealing with the slaver in an official capacity, the butler decided to focus on the live merchandise instead. "<Siblings? I can see some resemblance indeed.>" His eyes diverted towards both Yurui's and Meiling's horns. Two unrelated horned beastkin being sold together would be too much of a coincidence.

His eyebrows raised in tandem as soon as girl bit her own tongue, before shaking his head slightly. "<We will have to practice speaking. We can't have you biting your own tongue every time you talk extensively.>" Reaching into the [Pocket Dimension] with his furred hand once more, Fenrir would retrieve a single small leaf in a bright, yellow color. Holding it, pinching between his thumb and index, he offered to Meiling.

The leaf, rather than smooth, was velvety and glossy. "<Put this in your mouth and chew it up. It will reduce the pain.>" Bringing his clawed paw forward, he would offer it to Meiling, before browsing through the herbs in Kullervo's notebook.

Willow looked at Meiling and the wolf man who had offered her a…leaf? He didn’t understand what Fenrir would tell Meiling but while he spoke to Jastira and Teti his eyes remained on Fenrir and Meiling.

{I do not believe the village covered These Cardinals with me, what might those be? I-If you don’t mind answering…}

Was the first question he asked. He frowned.

{unfortunate things the gods allow people to do…}

He listened to her rattle on about the situation.

{Then, assuming you aren’t coerced into agreeing to this, I shall show off my cooking and business management skills as best as possible. I’m still learning but I’ve grown quite good at what I make. After all, the last thing I’d want is to end up somewhere worse when I could’ve been somewhere that was capable of being…better}

Meiling clutched Momo tightly to her chest as the swirling emotions and conversations fluttered around her like butterflies she couldn't quite catch. Everyone was talking—kindly, even curiously—but she didn’t understand most of the words. She only knew a few things for sure:

Kullervo wanted to sell them.
The bunny lady might buy them.
And if she didn’t impress someone right now, they might all be separated.

Her small wings gave an anxious twitch as she looked between Teti, Yurui, and Willow, trying to gather courage. Fenrir’s strong, calm presence nearby helped—a lot. Her eyes lingered on the elegant Wolfman with wide, starstruck admiration. He was so graceful and fluffy and composed! He smelled nice too. A mix of tea leaves and something like snowy mountains. He must be a legendary beast, she thought, maybe even a guardian spirit.

When he offered her the soft, golden leaf, her hands trembled as she reached up to accept it with both palms cupped.

"Thank you, Mister Fenrir..." she whispered, awestruck. She placed the leaf delicately in her mouth, chewing slowly, golden eyes never leaving his. Her cheeks flushed with earnest appreciation. "You're the kindest big wolf I've ever met. I wanna learn how to be like you... strong, and gentle, and sooo elegant!"

But then she remembered the stakes.

She took a small, determined step forward, brushing her long white-pink hair from her face, and gave her best (slightly wobbly) bow.

"My name is Meiling!" she said, voice shaking but bright. "And... and this is Momo!" She held up the tiny pup-creature, whose sprout bounced on his head. "He’s my buddy! I tamed him all by myself! I take care of him, feed him, brush him, and sing to him when he gets scared!"

She looked pleadingly toward Teti and Ryuuji, then toward the others—Jastira, Fenrir, even the distant glowering dog-man. Then finally back to Fenrir, her expression wide-eyed and serious.

"Please don’t split us up," she begged. "Gege protects me when things get scary. And Mr. pawpaw is funny, and... and warm. He pats Momo just right. They’re both good and special! I promise!"

Meiling balled her tiny fists, her voice rising with hopeful determination.

"I'm really good at taking care of monsters and animals, and I can talk to them with my heart! And one day, I’ll be the most beautiful, famous dragon ever—and I’ll help all the creatures and people I love grow up big and strong!"

She turned to Fenrir again, barely able to contain herself, and gave him the most serious look her cherubic face could manage.

"And... and maybe if I do a really good job… I could tame you too? Maybe? A little?" she added in a whisper, blushing.

Teti had made the promise and in some ways he shouldn't have, but in other ways he had drawn out the merchant the way he would have wanted. Teti had made sure that all the value was placed on meiling as well she was the most special of the group and that was what mattered. Their mistress liked people that had something to grow into but enjoyed a diverse group of people to show off her collection. No one wanted that same baubles on the self after all. Teti moved to the merchant again.

"< Hmmm while Meiling is without a little opal ready to be cut into a beautiful gem, i do have to wonder >" Teti started speaking with [Persuasion E] and a little [ Seduction E] "< Why it is you did not bring forth other gems such as her? >?" He asked through he question was rhetorical he was not going to fight on meiling's price but on the others as they had more flex room "< Our lady hates repeats and generic things, a quartz if you will. You are a merchant of great talent, but even the best merchant can be failed by lacking merchandise. >" Teti was careful not to insult the merchant or call him anything insulting he was in fact praising him just perhaps not his merchandise. "< I know My lady will love such a little gem like Meiling for she is special and unique, but the others ... i must say are not as good. You see our lady has a body guard two in fact that are truly special a minotaur of great power, and an assassin formerly of the hive. While yes the brother is nice he is something of a repeat two dragons means they are not as special or as valuable as one and his chosen role is well filled. As for the other As you can see she always has a cat and perhaps a few to many [beast] types anyways and his desire is to be a cook we already have cooks and it seems he can't even communicate directly >" Teti explained and well the merchant had brought one truly special slave the others were less so. "< If you are going to demand more for the opal, perhaps you would be willing to lower the price for the quartz, after all buying in bulk often means discounts and they seem to be bothering you, consider it the price for the convivence of no longer having to deal with any of them and gaining a customer who is sure to be most interested in your most exotic wares " Teti almost purred his every word laced with his skills as he tried to help strike a deal. he was sure to never talk down do the merchant in his tone only suggest things and ideas and dangle more business in front of him, taking a small hit today for more profits tomorrow especially a noble with money to throw around was always good and perhaps he could get something personal.

Teti leaned in close tot he merchant though making sure to have a respectful distance but trying to keep his words mostly un heard, not that the others wouldn't. "< Ryujji might be my lady's right hand for now but i am the closest to her. There is a reason I asked for a golden ring if you get my drift. Perhaps you and i being friendly will make even a slight loss on some of these good well worth it in time after all who doesn't want an exclusive contract to supply a noble house?>" Teti whispered to the merchant again using his skills to make the merchant more willing to listen while never outright telling him what to do, just informing him of how he might soon be getting a lot more business here a lot of repeat business.

Jethro Noiren

Jethro slowly began to sort his thoughts once again. The confusing mix of anger and fear within was forcefully pushed down with a feigned indifference. The man stood up, still silent. Looking towards the rest of the group. Lei was walking to the forested area, as she had offered him to join. He now had a bit of regret not to join her, he couldn't help but look her way for a few seconds. Then again, her words did sting. Much unlike the rest of these pricks, he had a hunch she had not ill will when dismissing his awful experience. Maybe after she sorts her own frustrations out, they could continue their chat. Maybe privately. Somehow her disdain for this lot was greater, or at least less subtle than his own.

Putting a pin on his conversation with Lei, and setting it aside, might as well get his business sorted out. She was right, this was going to be a long ride. Excruciatingly so. But there was no out of it.

Jethro reflexively approached silently to the circus, like a beast ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey. Some of the idiots did look awfully distracted. His instincts relaxed just as he was standing behind Mop Head. "Anything I should care about in that list?" He asked as he stepped forward and to the his side, arms crossed. His eyes and voice would ring familiar to Mop Head and the Lap Dog (if on earshot distance). Dead monotony. No trace of emotion in his voice, no light in his eyes. While further tempering his suppressed emotions by keeping his eyes fixed on a nonexistent point far in the distance. Just like back at the guild hall.

That said, his eyes did drift in the direction of the two horned individuals, not showing any sign of what might he be looking for. He didn't understand pretty much anything of the heavily used Beastial spoken in the conversation. Maybe it was a good thing, though. He wasn't too much in the mood to sit through whatever showing of entitled bullshit this miserable empire's residents displayed with shameless pride.

Yurui’s face remained in a slightly annoyed cowl at Jastira, mentioning that there were more bodyguards. It wasn’t anything he hadn’t expected, however the underlying threat that he and Meiling might be split up didn’t sit right with him.

“Then I’ll prove both that I’m the best, and that I offer something different.”

He learned through the school of hard knocks that it wasn’t just acting when something went wrong but prevention in the first place, gathering info, putting up defensive layers, going over protocols, thinking through the mind of the enemy. The horned man had more than enough time to think about scenarios and run simulations through his head.

Fenrir would step up offering Meiling a leaf for her to eat, instinctively he wanted to intercept but chose not to. The likelihood of the wolf trying anything dangerous was low so Yurui chose to watch. His body was stiff as she chewed the leaf, paranoia etching his eyebrows as Meiling made faces. The tension would leave his face once he noticed she was more than okay. Bouncing happily and speaking with more confidence than before. His lips would curve into an earnest smile as the little sunshine put herself out there.

“You’re so inspiring Mei.” Perhaps too much when she boldly claimed that she’d tame Fenrir himself. “Maybe a little too much dip on your chip there sis.” Her confidence was admirable though.

Teti’s seemed rather sold on Meiling by the way she complimented her, the comparisons to a game being spot on. Meiling had their attention like a precious gem, not that Yurui was ever worried about her. He was more concerned about how he was holding her back and how he felt more like an anchor than a life jacket.

The catkins words didn’t seem to make it any better as the potential of the two being split up became closer to reality. This was the first decent group that hes came across in all his years. Usually, they would’ve already rubbed him the wrong way by now and he’d have sabotaged the sail but this was different. Purposely foiling the deal would be unfair to Meiling who could be really happy here, they were already very accepting of her and her dreams as is and were willing to help her.

“Like I said, I’ll prove I’m the best bodyguard. Not just here but in the West Empire.” repeated once more, but with ferocity. His words were pointed at Teti in particular, not that he was upset with him but because he was speaking most recently.

“But, if that’s not enough for Lady Saiorse, I always wanted to try potion mixing. Whenever I saw slaves being given potions it always fixed problems they had with their health.” reeled his tone back to a moderate level, his voice devoid of aggression and replaced with childlike fascination. “There’s another thing that I want to do but I don’t know the name of it. I saw people use rocks with carvings and when they use the rock they make magic happen. They can even do this to other objects as well and give them magic too.” He possessed limited knowledge of what he was talking about but that didn’t deter him from sharing. If he didn’t share now, the worst would come to be reality and he could afford that.

Jethro would join them soon and his demeanor was completely different from the others. Much colder and icy, Yurui would shoot the man an apathetic glance as his attention returned to the matter at hand.

What felt a little disappointing that Jethro would prefer to stay around such annoying people woh wanted to assert their own undeserved pride towards other slaves, sighing as she had heard what the dog had said about his wares. It felt like every other day Saoirse was spending money on wares and resources, and yet they bought a house they couldn't even go into? Sounded like she needed a financial adviser rather than the useless beings she ended up keeping in her presence. That being said, there wasn't much point to stick around since time and history had already proven none of the members in the presence of such slaves would allow her to have an opinion or input, and that she was just better off alone due to the hate she kept receiving. Grumbling quietly, she left Jet to whatever he wished to seek out of such idiots as she wandered off to the woods to try and find some alone and peace.

But then again, wherever she checked, there proved to be not a single thing of interest in the woods. Couldn't even choose a property that could be entered, or even one that had anything locally interesting. The minotaur still had no clue why they bought a beachside residency that was perfectly fine just to move here instead. Scraping and swinging her weapon at trees out of boredom for a while, Lei eventually burned through her hatred by slamming her head into a tree over and over again. At least it honestly felt better than the constant harassment she got sent her way, and the frustration. Slamming her mind was honestly the most therapeutic thing she'd gotten the chance to do... then again, her options for whatever else to compare it to weren't exactly high at all. Finally sighing and tiring herself once her head was back to ringing, and she could feel the cuts on her forehead, she gave a light wipe with the back of her hand.

"Mhm... " she grumbled, sniffing and looking to the blood. Thicker and viscous than she was expecting, much darker in color. That chaos really did run in her blood. Not paying much attention to her injuries, any pain felt like naught by now. There was nothing left to do in the woods, so she grabbed her mace and walked back.

When she got back, she immediately gave a small point at Ryuuji.
"Don't heal me" she immediately answered, even if she was still bleeding from the head.

Sighing and prepared to take seat, she had to sit and overhear whatever nonsense was being discussed. Blah, blah blah, entitlement, creepy child obsession, the lot, blah blah. She had no idea what big deal they were making out of 'trying to impress Saoirse'. From looking at most of those in the group's presence, Saoirse had the lowest expectations imaginable. In fact, outside of herself and maybe Ryuuji, Jastira and Melia... Lei couldn't place in the slightest how any of the other slaves were ever working on self-improvement. So many of them had 'aspirations' that just... were sort of just standing around and acting as minimum wage servants. And the rest... she'd not seen a single thing from them to have a clue. She didn't expect these other slaves to have any real talents or aspirations, but didn't expect it'd be hard to make up the tiniest lie like the rest of them did.

Then obviously, Lei couldn't just think to herself or be at peace for a single second. At least the rest of the slaves were ignoring her, but of course it was that vile sewer-cat that had to constantly trash-talk her again and again. It was blatantly frustrating how much Teti just wouldn't leave her alone for one single second. Stopping her choice to sit and instead walking over to Teti, she'd had enough of the stupid cat doing nothing but insult her every day.

"You talk about me again, and I will end you. I have said it many times, and for someone who egotistically makes up that 'they're the closest to Saoirse', then it should be expected that YOU most of all should know what you're doing-" she'd huff, slamming her mace next to him. He knew what he was doing, and she was readily willing to just abandon any reasoning and kill him the next time he spoke bad about her. She'd put up with it long enough.

Though, before she spoke, she at least put her hands over Meiling's ears yet her hands were big enough that it was like she was holding the girl's head.
"You talk ████ about me, or pull this cocky-███ attitude again, and I'll ████ing end you and hang your corpse by your own intestines. I, am not, a ████ing bodyguard. EVERYONE knows this, and I'm not listening to your insulting ████ and play-pretend again. The next time, I'm taking your ████ing head clean off. And if Ryuuji heals you, that's more suffering for me to inflict on you. Never ████ing talk ████ about me again" she answered. At least when Fenrir insulted her, he had the balls to answer her up-front and centre, and respond to her challenge. Teti was an annoying coward, and she wasn't dealing with ████ from him and the other slaves any longer. Lei had been saying it again and again enough that she was not a bodyguard, and had no interest in being one. Melia was Saoirse's bodyguard. For most of the slaves, Lei couldn't care less about their safety, they needed a bodyguard from her, not the other way around.

Otherwise, after getting out her response to the cat that was only trying to anger and make enemies with her, she let go of Meiling's ears to return her ability to hear.
"Don't bother fretting too much, I'm sure most of the people here are significantly more useless than you three. Just make up something that you wouldn't care about being forced to do once a day for the rest of your life, and say you want to be the best of it. Whatever she ends up taking you for what reason, you'll suffer less than what she always forces me through anyway. The rabbit is... pitifully unimpressive with their decisions" Lei answered to the three slaves owned by Kullervo, she wanted nothing to do with them, but it wasn't deniable that it'd take no effort at all to impress Saoirse.

"And besides, being good at fighting is a wide genre. You have different arts and weapon types- see, this is why you don't listen to these uncultured fu- freaks, they don't know anything. Say whatever you're gonna say to the rat when she shows up. It won't take more than a few seconds to randomly say something that'll work" Lei answered to Yurui and held her tongue a little for the younger member in the vicinity, seeing no reasoning in the others' points that more combatants would be unimpressive. Everyone when it came to combat had a niche, their own style.

Diego had to fight hard not to laugh at the scene before him, but thankfully, he managed not to laugh, though inside of his own head he was howling out laughing.
"Don't worry, I will call when I will 'need you'~" Diego responded with a wink himself from behind his helmet, so whatever she saw the wink or not was another matter altogether.
"Well, I wouldn't paint it in a blacklight,t boss, the thing could have not worked and nothing could have happened or worse, so this is a nice outcome all in all. But yeah, we should check the barrier with this, or at least call Anima when we get to it." He said, being probably the only optimist in this situation, though probably only because he used to be in far worse situations in the past.

Anyways, Diego would emerge from the mausoleum after the other two emerged from there. As soon as he stood outside, he was asked a question by Saoirse.
"Do you want the short version or the long version, Boss. Especially since our worlds are different, so my methods might not work as well or not at all, truth be told. But usual tricks for ghosts are salt rings, since they make it hard for spirits to pass them, holy or blessed water does the same. She didn't look like a wraith, poltergeist, or a specter to m,e so those methods are out the window. Which would leave consecrated soil or oil, vital magic, or holy magic, since ghosts are undead. The most effective way would be finding what she is bound to, an item or this whole place, find the core of it, and destroy it, kinda like how you deal with liches. Alternatively, find her remains or personal items and burn them. Silver could work as well."
Diego replied, listing a few ways he can remember of the top of his head without going into details nor specifics.
"But yeah for now I would just let her be, there are too many possibilities on what she is, and most of the methods I know with dealing with such beings will either destroy, repel, seal or weaken one being but do the opposite for another hence I don't want to do any of it till I learn more. Besides, she looked like a nice person."
He added shortly after his long spiel of words, before beginning his slow walk back to the rest of the group, walking just behind Saoirse to indicate her being the leader here.
