And I'm still baffled by people defending this.
Eh, I was defending it first because i'm one for free speech but, I'm someone who doesn't do "Exotic Roleplaying." Vivid details of violence is something that should probably be allowed, unless it already is but that's just my opinion since our generation has already been exposed to violence whether it be in video games or from the media revealing the atrocities of mankind.

I believe that our generation is capable of handling violence, it's understandable that sexual topics shouldn't be allowed because of a possible underage policy that would result in legal troubles but as for written violence? Comics, Media, and even Music cover that on a broad scale in comparison to what you'll find here. (There was this one song that was pretty messed up, Immortal Technique - Dancing with the Devil.  I only listened to it a few times before I deliberately decided to not hear it again, not sure why. :S  It's just really depressing.)

But yeah, if someone wants to do A-rated roleplay they should probably  look for another site that allows it. :S

Shouldn't risk RPnation over something trivial.

I don't really understand why so many people view erotic role playing as some sort of terrible thing? Erotic role playing with minors and adults is gross, and I don't agree with it, but as for two adults doing it, why is that such an issue? (Not speaking about doing it here on RPN. I'm speaking about websites that allow it.) It seems like the majority of people view it as some weird thing that only people with creepy fetishes do.

I believe that erotic scenes whether they be super descriptive or not, can add something to a role play. I'll be the first to admit that you do definitely find creeps on sites that allow that type of content, but not everyone is a creep for writing out the scenes, or wanting to do so. I guess I just feel that some of the people in this thread are being a little judgemental about something that really isn't something to be judgemental about? :<

I guess I'm the 1% here, lmao.

Websites that allow erotic roleplaying have their right to do so, as long as it's done safely and legally (though we currently know of no way to make it so, even if we had the want for erotic content on RpN, which we don't), there's not a problem with it.

Most roleplaying sites currently have the ability to erp in some form. We're not willing to risk the site for erotic content to exist - so that's why RpN is how it is.

Family-friendly, if you will.

That said, graphic violence IS allowed, to a point. I think we've asked one person to tone it down ever, and they wrote horror/gore professionally. However, no real-life pictures of gore are acceptable on RpN, and drawings/art must be labelled as gorey BEFORE the user sees them.

Erotic content is not allowed in any way, shape or form, whether it is in threads or PMs.

The guy with the guts to say it.
I am glad that it's not allowed here. I have seen some of the members here which I doubt could handle ERP.

Do I think anything is wrong with it? No, I don't care but people tend to take it too far with something like that so it's best it stays off this site.

My opinion, take as you wish.

This is a bit much, as  it is pretty intrusive. You say that you can scan your bar code and then it validates that the information you provided was indeed correct. When to me, this seems quite flawed as there is a huge amount of personal security at stake if this were to be hack and someone knew how to develop software to read in interpret such information, or simply hack the databases this information is stored (think of all the confidential information hacks that have happened in recent years).

RPN has already stated they will not allow erotic content because even if there was a way to prove without a doubt someone is as old as they claim to be on registration, there would be too much to regulate in those forums. I personally like that there is no erotic content here. To me, that is both boring, gross that people want to post stuff like that. Without erotica, this is a much more friendly and welcoming site.
It isn't necessarily more welcoming or friendly because of the lack of smut. I've met my fair share of a*holes here, but most of them were obsessively elitist and very disrespectful but I won't point fingers because I'm a nice and mature person. I myself absolutely hate smut solely for smut unless it actually furthers the storyline but even then, I must agree with you that it is UNBEARABLY boring. But keep in mind my post was merely a suggestion if they ever wanted to raise the age limit for one reason or another, or if they wanted to start a new site for such things. But it was a simple suggestion.

Erotic/Smut/Lemon, whatever you call it, is disgusting in general, I never see a good reason from someone why they choose to do this, all my previous roleplays involved smut, either by force, or the roleplay just dropped, which was excruciating and irritating, I lost my marbles after seeing my 5th roleplayer drop me for not smutting with their character, technically, I can't even roleplay smut because I'm fourteen-fucking-years old.

why is ERP so big anyways I have always enjoyed the approach of

the two kiss *fade to black*

not exactly like that but you get what I mean going further just seems weird to me, not to say that because someone likes doing ERP they are weird or creepy or whatever thats just how it feels to me

anyways I have stated my thoughts I shall leave you all be and go somewhere else no

GOODBYE!!

I am aware other websites make it work, and wonder how, if they're constantly bordering on the edge and decided to take the risk or not?

I do agree with this but I am impartial either way to whether or not smut is included in a roleplay.

I think it is really insensitive for people here to be shaming people who write in different ways. Whether people decide to include smut in their roleplay or not, or whether they desire it from their partner is completely up to them (given it is usually better they're upfront about what they want or don't want in a partner) and they are allowed to have their preferences. Writing should be a healthy and open environment, wherever it is and however people chose to do it to allow others to let their creativity flow and do what makes them happy.

Saying things like it is disgusting or bad is really going to make others feel bad about how they like to write and that really isn't okay to me.

I only ask that perhaps people think about what they plan to say in the future about others before saying things with the potential of putting others down, ya know?

This thread was posted in 2016, due to curiosity at the time, and I'm not quite sure why it's garnered recent replies. Either way smut is not allowed ('bad' or not in your opinion) and it's just an explanation of why.

It gets me that violence, gore and zombies are perfectly fine for children to sit in front of...but they should never ever learn where babies come from. God forbid two adults showing their love for each other

Those who disagree with the section of our rules that complies with U.S. law are welcome to write/call/email/twitter their congressperson and request that the law be changed. This is not the place to debate relative moralities, it's just an explanation of why we don't allow it on RpNation. Nor will we, while there there is the real possibility of legal troubles for the site and the site owner resulting from it.

Ask me about current roleplays i might be doing.

Seriously we don't need exact details of what you do with your character. That why we use the term fade to black. It is in fact a crime to go against the guidelines with stuff like that. Especially if the site like this one directed to be pg /pg13 site. I thonl ot called the internet control act. They do have sites that are made for what ypu eant to do. They have security features to prove you are of age.

Hey :) I dunno if anyone will answer but I just have a couple questions. I already made my introduction post I don't really know anything about how this site works but anyways XD what does "smut" and "erotic" and "cybering" mean? Does it mean just like, sex...? Stuff like that or? That is what I am thinking but I wanna be correct. My characters are shapeshifters so the only time they'd ever be naked would be when they shift from animal back to human. I've been doing roleplay with shapeshifters for a long time though, I usually don't actually even mention anything about it when they shift to move on, maybe the odd time lol. I don't wanna break any rules though

As a side note, we aren't actually a PG13 site, we just require that users be 13+ and disallow ERP because of COPPA (the child protection act). Slight but important difference!

Smut, erotic, and ERP (erotic roleplay) all mean sex, basically. Descriptions or pictures of genitalia also fall under that. You can say your character isn't wearing any clothes, and that's fine, but don't describe what they look like without their clothes on. ^;3^

Thank you! I figured that is what it meant but wanted to be totally sure about it! The good thing is I don't even like romance anyways, much less writing about sex... It's weird.

I have one more question, what is the "to a point" where it comes to violence? I am not a professional horror/gore writer... Or a professional writer at all lol, but if I stick around on here and roleplay with others I wanna make sure I am within the limits and don't break any rules. I figure I should act mostly just because I have two characters who for because of what they are and such, they'd both kinda fall under the violent category.

So far the only person who's broken the rule as it applies to text was a professional gore writer. ^;3^ It's fine to rip off arms and heads and such, just don't go into excessive detail about the sounds it makes, or how many drops of blood go flying out, or intimate descriptions of what the torn-off ends look like, that sort of thing.

Bear in mind it also applies to pictures, in that we don't allow any real gore photos, and artwork must be placed in spoilers.

Also, if you have any questions about a particular scene you've written, you're welcome to post it in Staff Contact and we'll let you know if it's going to be a problem.

Okay, thank you. I don't think I've ever really gone into that sort of detail, but then again I don't really get far in most roleplays to even get to such points so... But I'll keep that in mind! And about the photos as well - I never really post photos when I do roleplays, so that's fine by me.

Eh. I'm fine with it off-site usually. RP is meant to create believable characters and if 2 people consent to roleplaying it then eh. Let them RP it in their own time. Until then just say fade to Black.

The legalities puts the site at risk because minors can and easily lie about their age. It is actually against the rules to use RpNation to lure users offsite for ERP.
Erotic Content and Extreme Gore
RpNation is NOT a PG-13 rated site, but does cater to users who are under the age of 18. As such, users are prohibited from posting, encouraging, or requesting any explicit erotic content; both written words and media. Sexual roleplaying (smut, erotic roleplay) is not permitted and strictly prohibited from all RpNation web space, including private messages and the private workshop.

Users are also forbidden from using RpNation to solicit, imply, instruct, or lure others offsite to conduct erotic roleplay or share erotic content.
Also, this is not a debate thread, this was an announcement back in 2016 regarding the 'why' it isn't allowed. @Meredith I'm not sure why this suddenly got revived either...
