Welcome to Paradym, the first and greatest of the world's supercities. Here muts, humans born with genetic mutations that allow for supernatural abilities, live in relative peace

The city is surrounded by thick, sturdy walls that support the anti-radiation mechanisms responsible for the Sun Dome that protects the city from radiation and other harmful climate conditions. Rain can still fall, but severe storms will trigger protective mechanisms.

All the cities are connected by a electric/magnetic bullet-train system that is entirely automated. They are free for the public to use, but require identification to board. First class seating areas are reserved for those who pay a higher fee, government officials, and heroes in training.

No guns are permitted in the cities and only belong to police and illegal crafters. Muts require a license to use their powers in the cities, which can be suspended if deemed necessary.

  • The CapitalCity A is the centre of Paradym by every essence of the word. Located in the middle of the supercity, A is home to the official government buildings, Hero Association Headquarters, as well as Invictus Academy.

It has the lowest rate of minor crime thanks to hero activity, but is often the target of super villain activities whenever there is an incident. As a result, government buildings are among the most secure in the city, second only to B City.

Invictus Academy Information
Invictus Academy is an exclusive high school run in partnership with the Hero Association and the Paradym government. It was created within the same year as Paradym's founding by a hero under the same name as the school.

While it was at one point independent of Paradym's government, at one point over the years it became a joint organization for the betterment and safety of staff and students. It is located within the Hero Association's headquarters, ensuring that the newest generation of heroes are safely within reach should a super villain disaster occur, and under watch should a budding villain develop among their students.

Students who have the potential for greatness (or a closer definition; have the capacity to kill another human) are scouted during their junior high years and invited to the academy by the time they graduate. Attendance is completely covered by a paid scholarship from several government and corporate sponsors, including boarding, food, and any hero gear needed. Students will also receive a weekly allowance for their personal interests and activities.

Declining this invitation will result in the removal of their superpower licence. They will be unable to use their powers in public and most non-regulated places.

The academy offers a 4 year program of hero training under the guidance of A class Heroes with the occasional visit from S class. During their 3rd year, practical training as an apprentice (usually dubbed side-kick) to a professional hero will be available for students. Performance during this internship will determine their beginning placement in the Hero Association after graduation.

The School

The school spans over several floors of the HQ building and students will need a special pass to access the elevators and entrances to these floors. They cannot access the Hero Association floors or the S-Class only floor. This student ID will also allow exclusive seating in public transportation, bypass non-critical security checkpoints, and grant heavy discounts from several stores.

Areas of the high
  • Dorms
    • Instead of numbers, each dorm room is named after few of the most ancient heroes
    • There are 4 floors, two for female students and two for males. The corners of each floor are gender neutral options if preferable.
    • There are usually only 10-15 students per class.
  • Sky Cafe.
    • The cafeteria for students. Serves breakfast, lunch, and supper.
    • Nice view of the city (is on second top floor)
    • Pro heroes will show up here sometimes after meetings (at least, the nicer ones)
      • MOTH really loves the sundaes served here during lunch
  • Lecture rooms
  • Specialized small-scale training room (larger facility is located in the science district)
  • Pool and fitness gym
  • Recreational lounge area
  • Medical ward

Hero Rankings
Heroes are ranked using a number system that ranges from A-C, with C being the lowest. S class is reserved for 7 of Paradym's top heroes, one for each city. While each hero is responsible for their correlating city, S class heroes can take action in any of the cities as needed, but usually one is enough to deal with most threats that arise.

Ranking is determined by activity, performance, association assignments completed, and most importantly, renown. Popularity has an enormous impact on the quality and amount of HA assignments received. Heroes of ranking B-C have a weekly activity minimum that they must complete or else risk being demoted in ranking. S-A have only case by case basis and mostly only appear for association-given assignments. Those who get first dibs on these assignments is determined by their popularity.

Threat Levels
Just like heroes, villains and criminals receive official threat ratings from the Hero Association which determines what ranking of heroes can be given official assignments to handle them. Heroes can respond to assignments that are equal to their rank or lesser, but never above. The difference between a criminal and a villain is that villains are muts, while criminals are those without powers.

S (Danger to more than one city): Super villain.
A (Danger to a city): Grand criminal/villain.
B (Danger to groups of people): villain/criminal
C (Danger to a few people): Lesser villain/criminal.

Special rankingsthese threats are capable of being any rank from S-C and are unpredictable. Grant significant increases in popularity due to their exotic nature.
-Rogue hero.
-Vigilante.

Long ago, the old world was destroyed by a global disaster known as The Calamity. This was marked by sudden, violent changes to the world's climate caused by a series of solar storms. Many forms of technology failed and temperatures warmed drastically, leading to widespread droughts, severe storms, and rising sea levels. Huge swaths of land along the coast were swallowed by the sea, drowning cities, while further inland wildfires raged. Yet perhaps the worse of all these natural disasters was the light of day itself.

The sun's radiation grew harsh, leaving severe sunburns after only a short exposure time. Too much of this radiation led to a sickness known as Sunscour, caused by a mutation of the skin's cells. While not contagious, the mutated cells would multiply and quickly spread throughout the body, resulting in systemic organ failure.

The old world began to collapse under the widespread chaos as food and water became scarce. Agriculture could not withstand the droughts, and very soon famine began to follow. Between hunger, disaster, and sunscour, the world's population suffered a massive collapse. Conflict arose and governments began to fail.

This is when the first heroes and villains emerged. A rare mutation began to appear in the population, manifesting as individuals who were immune to the Sunscour and capable of extraordinary abilities. With these, they helped to save lives... or take what they wanted. In a world steeped in chaos, such beings were held in awe and fear. Signs of a new beginning, or a final end. Riots, bloodshed and lawless bands became all to common, often led by these mutated people, dubbed muts.

The world would have fallen into a savage, chaotic place, if not for MIRROR, a bioscience and solar engineering corporation. By uniting the world's remaining greatest minds they discovered a way to not only counter the sun's harmful rays, but to use it as renewable energy. They constructed supercities; fully protected and self-sufficient cities that could efficiently provide enough food and water for millions of people. With a solar-filtering dome, no longer would people need to fear the light of day.

It did not take long for people to flock to these cities, and soon enough civility returned to humanity. Sadly, not everyone chose to live in the cities, and whenever another solar storm erupted, these outsiders perished in the wastelands.

Hundreds of years have passed, and while the world recovered to some degree, it is still inhabitable beyond the cities. There is nobody alive who remembers the outside world beyond what is written in history textbooks and information learned at the city F museums.
