Opal sighed as she got into her dorm. There were too many people going to and from. She was finally at her dorm now though, and she could get to decorating. Last year, her rooming situation didn't go that well. So while she kind of didn't want a first year, it was probably better to start off fresh. Opal wanted to try and make a few more friends. Sure, she had her close friends, but Ayla recommended trying to make a few more. She sighed again as she thought of that conversation. She cared for Ayla, but it was always so awkward, she didn't really understand why Ayla acts the way that she does.

Opal chose to distract herself with decorating while she waited for her roomate to show. Maybe she could take some time to relax instead, she did just get a new weighted blanket...

  • Rosalyn Wilder

Rosalyn's departure from the towncar that dropped her off in front of Providence Academy was unceremonious. While other students were bidding farewell to their families and loved ones, the pinkette had only her driver to see her off. For better or worse, this didn't particularly bother Miss Wilder though. It meant that she didn't have to worry about keeping her emotions in check while parting ways with her mother and father or older brothers.

It had been her parents' idea for her to attend Providence to find her soulmate, and she hadn't exactly been thrilled at the prospect. As soon as her letter arrived in the mail, her mother had been openly relieved to know her daughter wouldn't end up a spinster (even though she was only 16 and had a long time before that would be an actual threat) and had drilled it into Rose how important it was to make a good impression and get along with her soulmate. To the Wilders, soulmates were nonnegotiable- whoever you shared a thread with was who you were going to spend your life with. No questions asked. To Rose, however, her soulmate was just another person to potentially control her life that she’d have to wear a mask for.

And so, while some students were departing with tearfilled goodbyes to their families, Rose just offered her driver Winston an appreciative nod, polite smile, and simple, "Thank you. Goodbye for now." Her belongings had been sent ahead of her, and would be waiting for the pinkette in her dorm room. For now, all Rose had was a small rolling suitcase with her essentials that she couldn't be without for a few days. Setting her sights on the school buildings ahead, Rosalyn left the drop off area and began to walk into the fray of excited and nervous students. Her expression was passive, hiding her feelings, and her blue eyes scanned the crowds for a brunette neko that she had arranged to meet.

Honestly, meeting Akira, Rosalyn's buddy for the year, was something that the pinkette was actually looking forward to. The bubbly girl seemed sweet, and their conversations in the weeks prior were already friendly. Rose wouldn't dare admit it, but she hoped that Akira would serve as more than a mentor, and the two would become friends. At first Rose had been annoyed that her parents had apparently signed her up for this program, but with any luck it would actually turn out well. Spotting a petite brunette with cat ears to the right of the entrance, Rosalyn's eyes lit up a little, and she gracefully cut through the groups of students to make her way over. "Hi, Akira?" She asked, masking her nerves and uncertainty under a bright smile and soft voice as she came to a stop in front of (hopefully) her buddy.

  • Nicolai Morozov

Nico could feel the nerves piling up within him. New school and most of all, new people. He'd grown up surrounded by adults and had had to mind his P's and Q's so much during his life and now he was being dropped head first into a chaotic den of people his own age. "Ты беспокоишься, сын?*" His mother's voice jostled the young man back to reality. They were both sitting in the back seat of the family's Rolls Royce as it pulled up to the school. Nico smiled towards his mother and shook his head.

"Больше волнения, чем нервов.**" He smiled before hugging her. "Спасибо, что привезла мне маму. Это немного упрощает работу.***" She nodded to him before wathing her son climb out of the car. "Love you mom." He said before shutting the door and Geoffrey cam over to him with his bag. "Thank you Geoffrey. I can take it from here."

"Of course sir. Now, you know how to reach myself, Ivan, Mikhail, and Andrei should anything happen." Nico sighed and nodded while watching the chauffeur climb back into the driver seat. After a minute of standing there, it finally began to drive off. Nico let out a sigh of relief as he turned around and started to walk where he remembered the dorm was. If there was one thing Nico missed already it was the, rather expensive, electronic keyboard that his parents had had loaded up into his room the day before.

"I hope my roommate won't be too bothered by the fact that the movers picked my side of the room." He spoke aloud as he dodged a few people running about. He had never been so thankful for his elven heritage as when he first got to "see" the world. A world of blackness turned to one of greys, blacks and whites, but it meant he didn't need a cane. And it meant most people wouldn't believe he was completely blind. "I mean I guess I'm just technically near sighted and colorblind now, but that's just magic." He let out a chuckle as he walked up the stairs and found his room. Sitting on his bed was the device he'd spent hours convincing his parents he needed. He scooped it up and was already heading his way back to the quad. He didn't care if people heard him, he wanted to play something to display his excitement to the world. Finding a nice bench to sit down on, Nico set the tool in his lap, turned it on, set it to the right tune and began to play.

    * Are you anxious, son?
    ** More excitement than nerves.
*** Thanks for bringing me mom. It makes things a little easier

Leaning back in the seat of the car Sun smiled as he looked out the window at the passing visuals. The time had come for another year at Providence Academy, and he was excited for the upcoming events. The first few days were always the most exciting for him since it was the time to meet new people and expand his own social circle. While he had formed a core group of friends, he was always looking to expand his list of friends beyond what already existed. His father noticed his smile and a smile of his own appeared on his lips. " You look like you are happy. Ready for year three?" . Sun chuckled as a response to his father's question. "Yeah, I have a good feeling about this year. ". This got his father to laugh as well, "Alright Mr. Good Feeling we are there".

Sun waved goodbye to his dad as he got the last of his bags out of the car. He had made sure to get there early so he had time to take his stuff to his dorm. Taking his stuff back to his dorm was rather easy, since it was his third year at Providence his first two years taught him the valuable lesson of packing on the lighter end. The experience of living in the dorms as well made it so he could find his room rather easily. Finding it empty he set up his stuff on the right side of the room claiming it as his own. He would unpack later. Checking his email on his phone he saw that it was nearing the meeting time with Erika, his new transfer buddy. Pocketing his phone he set off to the designated meeting point.

Walking down to the meeting point he had no thoughts about soulmates. While he had been disappointed that he hadn't gotten one his first year, he had grown to accept the fact that he would get one when he got one. Instead he had began to focus on building his circle of friends, getting to know a good group of people. As he was coming around the corner to the open area where he was going to meet his buddy he got a flash of red across his finger. Looking down and following the thread over he found his eyes settling on a brunette sitting on a bench. He stopped and felt his heart beat a bit faster for a second. He had laid eyes on his soulmate, and all he could do was murmur "So cute".

Opal smiled as she finished her room. The bed was beautiful, her outfits were all hung and folded nicely, she had a cute little succulent on her desk and all of her pens and pencils were organized. She heard her phone go off and quickly grabbed it, noticing it was Ophelia in their group chat. "Yea, just finished my room. I'll meet you at your room." she messaged back before making her way down.

She wouldn't admit it to them-well, they also probably knew-but Opal was excited to see her friends again. She didn't like going back home, it was just...weird. She checked her notes app that said all of their rooms, she didn't want to go to some random room on accident. She stood tall and held her head high as she walked to Ophelia's dorm, easily weaving through the people in the halls. She got to the room and knocked, waiting for her friend to answer.

Eita+Haruka

MOOD: confused/confused
LOCATION: somewhere in the school halls
OUTFIT: Eita and Haruka
TAGS: n/a
MENTIONS: open to interaction

Eita and Haruka came to the school the same way they went everywhere else-- glued to the hip. Haruka never liked to leave Eita alone for too long, and Eita was too awkward to leave them. Haruka looked around and rubbed the back of their head. "So... where are the dorms?" they asked. Eita groaned and looked up to them.

"Y-you don't know either...?"

"No... I-I thought you knew!"

They both looked around, completely confused and realizing that they were lost somewhere in the halls of the school.

Another year at Providence Academy was about to begin, that meant a new influx of first years with soulmates. A new influx of people with soulmates meant that there were bound to be some pairs who were unhappy with the pairing and wanted to have threads cut. When people wanted their strings cut they came to a seer, which she happened to be. Cutting someone's fated partner was not something she enjoyed doing, but it was one of the seer's duties and any normal seer would do it. That meant she would do it. Looking out the window next to the table she was sitting at, Anna sipped a bit of coffee to get that spike of energy. With her other hand she reached out and grabbed her fourth donut that morning. Taking quick bites out of it and sighing happily. It was important to have a full breakfast.

Turning away from the window she looked at her own thread, a blue one that clung lightly to her hand. Despite this being her second year here she had no idea who or what was on the other side of this string. They had never come to her and she hand never gone to them. She had spent quite a few hours string at the dark blue string. Yes the deep, pleasant, bright red string... red string? As the realization struck her she spit out her coffee and broke into a minor coughing fit. After the coughing fit passed she quickly looked around to make sure no one was around. Seeing that no one was she placed her face in her hands, she could feel her cheeks heating up. Knowing full well that the fact her string just turned red meant that fate thinks she is ready to be with her soulmate, she was hit by a wave of giddy embarrassment.

Nina leaned against the entrance of the school, she was excited for the start of this new year. She hasn’t come across her soulmate yet, of course. But that didn’t bother her as much now. She liked it here. All the news things were enough to distract her from that. And she was going to be able to enjoy another year of freedom with so many wonderful, different people. It was like a dream come true. She was almost afraid that her parents might make her come home and the dream would end, but it didn’t seem like they’d do that anytime soon. So she was free to live here and be allowed to make mistakes for at least another year. How great is that?

Nina glanced down at her phone, checking it for around the 14th time. She had been assigned a buddy this year. She was glad for it, she wanted to share the wonders of this new place with someone who also may not be familiar with it. She had been assigned a student named Jay. So she had decided to wait by the school entrance to welcome him. She didn’t have anything else to do, her room was already set up since she had stayed for summer break. There was no need for her to unpack or pick out a new uniform. She got that all done in the days prior. Even if she did have things she needed to do, she still wanted to be there. Nina wanted to make her buddy feel as welcome as she could.

  • Rosalyn Wilder

The past few years, Rosalyn had been homeschooled, making it easier to join her father for speeches or events that required his family’s presence for the optics. After all, the support of a beautiful wife, well-behaved daughter, and strapping sons (when they weren’t too busy) always looked better on the news or in the paper than a middle-aged man standing alone. For this reason though, being surrounded by so many students was a little overwhelming and beyond Rose’s comfort level. Luckily, she’d seemed to have found her buddy who would hopefully make this transition to an academy easier.

When the pinkette approached Akira, the brunette’s head snapped up and a bright smile greeted Rosalyn. Before Rose had time to lift her hand in a wave, the cute Neko had jumped up and was hugging her. Not uncomfortable with the hug itself necessarily, but surprised by how forthcoming Akira was with her excitement and friendliness, Rose was a little caught off guard. “It’s wonderful to meet you too,” She replied with a sheepish laugh, willing herself to act like a normal person and return the hug to the best of her ability until Akira pulled away a moment later. Rosalyn’s buddy apologized, blaming her exuberance on excitement, but the pinkette shook her head and waved away the apology.

“No worries-“ The pinkette began to say, before the unexpected appearance of red caught her attention. Blue eyes widened a fraction in alarm as she stared at the thread tied around her finger for a moment, before she quickly tucked her hand behind her back. As if hiding the string would make it less real, or the sentiment out of sight, out of mind really worked. Trying to ignore any panic, or worse, hopeful excitement, that might try creeping in, Rosalyn turned her attention back to Akira. Thank god for her buddy!

Did you want to start making our way to the dorms? The pinkette glanced towards the buildings she assumed were the dorms and nodded. “Yes!” She replied quickly, nodding almost too eagerly. Taking a look at the dorm would be a much needed distraction right now. “I mean, yes…” Rose repeated, this time in a more casual tone. “Please led the way!” She smiled, happy to follow after Akira. Glancing down the pathway that lead deeper into the school grounds though, Rose saw a red thread trailing along the ground. It was a bizarre feeling, knowing that the guy who was supposed to be her soulmate was somewhere on the other end. Nonetheless, she just smiled brightly at Akira, tipping her head to the side a little as she waited for the mini tour to the dorm to begin.

Within the first two to three notes Nico had already dove head first into his world of music and escape. As he played, his eyes naturally closed and he let go of his magic. He didn't need to see to play, but he needed to hear to feel and to experience the song. Every note cascaded into the next and flowed out to the audience. Was he drawing a crowd? He didn't know. He didn't care. This was his moment and his world. After twenty seemingly short minutes, Nico was finished with the song and he could somewhat feel a presence near him. And as he opened his eyes he was met with darkness and a lovely voice.

"You play very beautifully." They were words he'd heard before, but for some reason these felt different. There was tingle on his wrist and on instinct, Nico reached for it. There were several small bumps along his wrist. It was Braille and it read out the very words he'd just heard. Nico was confused by no small means, but he needed to view this sorceress. Quickly using his magic the world within three feet of him came into view. "I'm Penny." The angel before him spoke her name and without thinking, Nico took her hand and gently kissed it.

"I never thought I'd get to meet an angel." The words left his lips before he could even stop them and he felt a bit of color rush to his cheeks. "I'm sorry about that. My name's Nico." He tried to compose himself as he admired Penny. Why had she come to talk to him? It was then that Nico noticed the string connecting him to her. "Uh, what's this?" He asked pointing to the string now completely lost on what all was going on. Poor Nico had no idea what a soulmate was or anything about Providence really. For him, it was just an opportunity to be "normal" or at least be around people his age.

She didn’t really understand why he had applied if all he was going to do was follow her about. Aurora genuinely wanted to be alone for a little while longer until her eventual roommate would arrive— But no; Soren threw a spanner in the works there.
”You’re already giving me a headache, Soar.” Aurora whined, sat on the edge of her simple bed and gently massaging her temples in an attempt to ease the throbbing.

“Come on little sister,” Soren countered, reaching his hand out that held a single blue pill. “I need you to show me the way.” The more she was around him, the less likely she’d link with a soulmate. It was a genius plan, really. Take the magic blue pill, dull her senses for the time being and she can lead him to this Elias he was supposed to have met.

He thought she was stupid, surely. Aurora knew this tactic and while she despised playing his silly little games, she caved. The pestering wouldn’t stop if she refused, this was obvious. Standing from her bed, Aurora swiped the pill and tossed it into her mouth, swallowing it immediately and suppressing a gag.

Her last moments of not having a roommate as of yet would probably be diminished when she returned. At least her side was set up and organised; One less thing for her to do on her arrival back.
It was simple really; a single bed with Egyptian cotton sheets. On the wall, a calendar filled with puppies and kittens. Her windowsill occupied a single golden ball cactus and several books on animal care pushed against one side.
At the foot of her bed stood a mahogany Antoinette dresser that homed her various uniforms and dresses. It was clean on top, free of dust and objects. Aurora gave off the impression of someone neat, simple and basic— Just how she wanted.

Finally leaving her dorm room, Aurora held her handkerchief in one hand and the arm of Soren in the other.

  • Millonia Canaveri

THUD. The sound of a body hitting the floor filled the dojo as once again Milly toppled her opponent. "Excellent form Milly. That was a perfect Ippon." Mr. Imai, their instructor, smiled as Milly helped the junior boy to his feet. Although school hadn't started yet, many of the members had felt they should hang around the school over summer and practice as they really needed to catch up to schools that had been doing it for a while. And although Milly herself had done decently at tournaments the rest of the club was sorely lacking.

The girl smiled to her instructor as she ran a hand through her hair. "I think that's enough for today. Although most of us are unpacked, I think plenty of you want to go meet your soulmates." Milly, as a succubus, was a seer and everyone in the club knew it. So her mentioning soulmates always brought a smile to the members' faces. "Go on shower up and go make some memories." She laughed as the guys and girls ran off towards the showers. "They'll do a lot better this year. We might see more than just myself in the quarterfinals this year." She let out a laugh as the Mr. Imai nodded.

"Especially if they have soulmates showing up to cheer for them." The teacher smiled as Milly took a towel and wiped the sweat from her brow. "What about you? You are a seer and yet, no soulmate?" Milly shrugged in indifference as the teacher let out a sigh. "I'm a little saddened to hear that. A lot of the club members worry about you. You've made some friends here, but you act as if romance doesn't matter."

"Well I don't have a thread. At least not one I've seen, so I don't worry about....." Milly's words cut off as she stared at her hand. Fading into view was a bright red thread. Does this mean her soulmate had been in another world? And that they were here now? Milly could feel a blush forming on her cheeks as she stood there with a half drank bottle of water and her eyes glued to her finger.

"It seems that's just changed." Mr. Imai let out a laugh as he patted Milly's shoulder. "I suggest you go take a shower before you meet them. Wouldn't want them to think you smelled bad." Mr. Imai proceeded out of the dojo. "And of course don't forget to lock up Milly." It took Milly a long minute to finally register that she needed to move. She went into the showers and listened to a few of the girls giggling in excitement over their hopes for soulmates. Milly thought to herself as the water ran over her skin. What do I want from my soulmate?

Finally finishing up with her shower and getting dressed, Millonia looked at herself in the mirror. One eye that was completely blind, scars across her face and a broken horn. "Who....who would be soulmates with this?" She muttered to herself. Her mother had told her that she could use her succubus nature to heal all these wounds, but it would also mean she'd have to create ties to some people. "I....don't want that." Another self muttering. The idea of creating threads from herself to another was.....terrifying. It wasn't like a normal thread, it was more like a servitude pact. Causing whomever she attached to herself to become almost subservient to her wishes and desires.

Sighing Venus left the dojo, locking it up as instructed and started walking towards the dorm. She could tell the thread was coming from that direction, but where else was she going to go? The cafeteria wasn't exactly a place she enjoyed being and the main building was still pretty much locked up. And her and her buddy hadn't set up a time to meet. She'd likely go find them after orientation. As she finally reached the dorms, Milly couldn't decide what to do. So she took a seat right there on the steps. If her soulmate came to her, she'd talk. If not, she'd just go to her room and prepare for orientation.

  • After about a year of upholding the deal, Genesis' father didn't even bother contacting her on move in day like he had when she was a freshman. These days, they don't really talk much now that he knows he doesn't need to be breathing down her back to ensure that she does well. It's not that Genesis doesn't get into any trouble at all, but she hardly gets caught, and that's what's important. Honestly, it's a welcome development. Things cooled down even more when she told him how her soulmate said he didn't want to be involved with her.

Those weren't Xander's choice words, of course--he only said he didn't want to be in a relationship, but it was easier for her this way. If her father got the impression that there was little chance for development, he'd relax about the topic.

Besides, it's not like it was a false statement.

In any case, now she was finishing up moving into her new dorm, with only her suitcase that she was rolling with her left to drop off. Afterwards, she didn't have many plans; she didn't have any close friends to meet up with, and there was no club since it was just move in day. Once upon a time, when she was bored, she'd go to her spot and somehow Xander would end up there, but that was a while ago. She knows that was probably just the past, and if she went today, it'd feel like she was waiting for him or something.

    "Ah."

Gene paused after hearing the sound come from behind her--she glanced back at Wes, who happened to be going in the same direction as her for a little bit now. He was staring at his hand with wide eyes as they walked. He must have been pretty shocked to make a sound. He was usually so quiet that you couldn't tell he was there.

"Your thread showed up?" she asked as they approached her dorm room, noticing that there were three people standing in the open doorway--her roommate, and a couple of her friends. Opal and Qiyana, if she remembered correctly. Ah, were they all meeting on move in day?

    "Yeah..."

    "Well, good luck."

    "Thanks."

"'scuse me, guys," Gene said, moving past the group and going into the room to drop off her suitcase.

As soon as she sat up and started looking around Sun knew he had screwed up. He had thought he had comment on her cuteness in the safety of his own mind, not out loud. That sudden realization that he had in fact voiced his thoughts caused him to blush as she looked at him. Covering his mouth quickly, he felt something that he hadn't felt in quite a while, and that was a rush of anxiety. The normal confidence and outgoing excitement he displayed was quickly evaporating. Even as she stood up and walked closer he felt his anxiety growing. She was getting closer, closer, and she was right in front of her. Did she said her name was Erika, his buddy was his soulmate?!

Looking down at her Sun quickly tried to recover his composure. Giving her the best smile he could he reach out his own hand to shake hers. "I'm Sun Bao. It is my pleasure to meet you Miss Erika". He cringed internally at his own awkwardness. He never had any issues interacting with anyone. Of course this would be the interaction that he made himself look like a total idiot. Before he could actually shake hands with her, he noticed that her luggage was still over by the bench. Hoping on the excuse, Sun moved over to the baggage. "Here let me help you with these" he said as he sped over to the bags.

"I'll be there soon FeeFee, just finished the room. Zen, Wes, Tai, you three better be showing up. Or I'm DEFINITELY spilling some secrets about you that you don't want the others to know. ;)" Opal laughed softly as she got the text from Qiqi before said person was right beside her, "I didn't think you'd beat me here." Qiyana laughed as she approached her friend. "Love the dress by the way. Really works with your complexion." Opal smiled, "Thanks, it's new." The dress wasn't as...dark as her usual outfits, but Ayla had randomly gifted it to her one day. So, she figured she'd wear it. "Opal, Qiqi!" Ophelia opened the door and pulled the two girls into a hug, "I'm so glad to see you again. How was your summers?" Opal smiled as she hugged her back. It had taken her a few months to get used to hugs, and while she wouldn't admit it, Ophelia's were her favorite. "Summer was...Summer. I'd have much rather been here honestly," Opal sighed. Months of small talk and awkwardness didn't really help Opal in her 'not being an assassin' goals.

As Qiqi spoke she felt her phone buzz again and saw Zen had replied, "sorry im gonna be late! just got my thread!" Opal was going to reply back before hearing Wes' "Oh," and him staring at his hand. "You too?" Opal asked him. It wasn't soon after a rather excited voice greeted them all.

  • Rosalyn Wilder

The pinkette knew that her thread would eventually show up during her time at Providence, but Rosalyn had been hoping that it wouldn't be for a year or two or three... At least then she'd have time to try and figure out who she wanted to be now that she found herself in an environment away from her family. Alas, finding a bright red thread attached to her finger within the first ten minutes of being on campus had dashed those hopes... but surprisingly installed the tiniest of new ones that Rose wasn't ready to admit to herself. For now, all she could think was that her mother would be excited, which is exactly why she wouldn't tell Mrs. Wilder about her thread. At least for a while.

Pushing thoughts of soulmates aside, Rose glanced around at the campus as she and Akira began to walk to the dorms. Her buddy had seemed a little confused about being the tour guide, but the pinkette didn't think much of it, especially since Akira continued chatting. Hopefully our rooms are close to one another, maybe we could make our way to the cafeteria after we drop our things off? I don't know about you, but I was too excited to remember to eat this morning, so I'm absolutely starving. The brunette's smile and bubbly personality earned an amused chuckle from Rose as she processed everything Akira had said.

"Yeah, I'd really like it if our dorms were close. What room are you?," Rose replied sincerely. "And sure, I don't mind going to the cafeteria afterwards. I didn't eat this morning either." While everything she said was the truth, Rose hadn't forgotten to eat out of excitement, but had instead chosen not to eat due to a lack of appetite. She still wasn't hungry, but she could pretend she was if it gave her an excuse to spend more time with Akira. Besides, it would be good to know where the cafeteria was anyways.

The deeper into the quad the two girls got, the busier it seemed to be. All around them, Rose noticed students seemingly meeting their soulmates for the first time, running across the grass, or catching up with friends. One guy even had a piano he was playing before stopping to chat with a pretty girl. There was the pesky temptation to look off in the direction that her thread led, even to follow it, but Rosalyn decidedly did her best to ignore it and stayed focussed on getting to the dorms. Unfortunately, the tour and plans for lunch were about to hit a road bump though.

Nina was still waiting patiently by the school’s doors. She perked up a bit, noticing a red string appear on her finger again. Ah, he was here. Nina stared at her hand, Nina smiled. It had been a year since the string appeared and nothing had come of it. It was still reassuring though. Knowing that she had a soulmate. It was a warm fuzzy feeling that made her feel like there was hope for her. Maybe she wouldn’t end up completely alone. She was lovable. Even if it didn’t work out atleast it was a possibility.

She ended up getting too nervous to approach the string back then. And he didn’t seem to want to approach either. She was content with that. Just knowing was enough for her last year. Would it be enough now? She knew the answer was no. She wanted to follow the string this year. She’d give him a day to do it first, and if they didn’t meet today then she’d just have to suck it up and follow the str-

It was! Kalel was bolting through the school entrance with a grin on his face! What was he doing? Nina’s eyebrows rose as she watched him. The soulmate dilemma has been completely forgotten. She looked from side to side, wondering if she should see what had him so riled up or stay in her spot. She chose the former, Jay warned her that he would be late anyways, and she was excited to see her friend again. He looked happy about something, and she wanted to know about it, she could hype him up some more.

“Kalel! Where are you off to in such a hurry?” She waved, walking towards him since he was kinda running in her direction anyways. Her grin was a wide one, it’s her favorite pal, of course she was elated to see him.

He had plenty of time to kill and, before his sister’s departure, Soren had already toured the grounds and gotten a feel of the place. Rather than waste time on a tour that wasn’t needed, he’d much prefer to get to know his buddy better; establish his first friendship of the area perhaps.

“It is correct that I’ve had a tour,” Soren agreed, his hands moving from behind his back and shoving themselves deep into his pockets to finger his phone. They weren’t soulmates, thankfully. He could flirt and chat up the cute guy without the fear of having a label stuck on top of it.

“If it’s okay with you, I can accompany you to your room and help you unpack?” An innocent question, really. And truthfully, he didn’t have anything else to do until the club fair started.

From the letterman jacket, Soren deduced that Elias was into sports; something that stirred a little hunger from him. The athletic people did taste sweeter on the tongue after a bout of sweaty running. Maybe in the future he could coax Elias into a little feeding session— Consensual of course.

Snapping back from his thoughts, Soren shifted his weight onto the opposite leg and smiled in Elias’s direction, awaiting the answer of his offer of help.

"Yeah, I'd really like it if our dorms were close. What room are you?," Rose replied, causing a smile to come back onto Akira's face...as if it had left. "And sure, I don't mind going to the cafeteria afterwards. I didn't eat this morning either." Akira smiled more, man her cheeks were kinda starting to hurt, "Great! I hope the cafeteria food is good," she joked lightly, "I'm in room 203, it's on the second floor," she explained, "I don't remember who my roommate is though," she trailed off as she thought for a moment, had they even been told who they were rooming with?? With a shake of her head Akira cleared her thoughts, "Well anyway, I'll meet them soon. But, did you wanna-oh my god," she cut herself off as she glanced at her hand and stopped walking. She had barely glanced at it, but the bright red was something very hard for her to miss. Her soulmate! OMG!!! She had really hoped to meet her soulmate on her first day, but had been warned not to get her hopes up too much...but that was just so hard to do. "Ah, sorry! I just, I was trying really hard not to get too hopeful about meeting my soulmate on the first day!" she exlaimed excitedly. "Do you think we could do a rain check on the tour?? Maybe after orientaiton? I'll definitely still need to learn my way around campus, but I understand if you're busy possibly meeting up with some others later too!" Akira didn't want to force her buddy to bail on possile plans with friends, but now that she saw her thread, all she could think about was meeting them.

  • So, Jay decided to run. Just a little.

He's pretty in shape--and especially with his time in track, he should have no time running, right? The only problem was that he didn't want to be sweaty and too out of breath the first time he meets his soulmate, so he decided to pace himself. A jog back to campus was something he could handle.

Eventually, he made it to the meeting spot at the entrance of the school, and he could pretty much tell who Nina was since she was one of the only students just standing there. She seemed distracted, though, and that's a good thing for him. Jay sped up his pace and zoomed past her.

"Sorry, but I'll be back soon!" he called from behind her as he continued following his string further into campus.

  • Nicolai Morozov

The girl before Nico seemed rather confused by his question, but how could that be? A random thread appeared connecting them together. "That's the soulmate thread." Soulmate? Does she mean that cosmic fairytale stuff that some of the older women that attended his concerts would grieve over not finding? Nico brought his attention back to Penny as she asked another question. "A lot of people choose Providience to find their soulmate, of course with other reasons, but how do you not know about it?" Okay Nico, take a deep breath and explain it clearly and plainly without upsetting her.

"I've....never heard anything about soulmates. Save for a few crying women in their mid forties that hadn't met theirs. And I believed it to be some just superstitious nonsense." Nico chuckled a bit as he scratched the back of his head. "Guess that makes me the stupid one." A sigh left his lips as he looked to Penny. "Truth is my father enrolled me into Providence Academy. He mentioned that he met mother here, but he explicitly stated that he just wanted to let me live an average life for someone my age." Pulling out his phone, Nico did a quick search of himself on the web before handing it to Penny. "This, is the me that most people would know." He shrugged knowing that he was probably revealing a bit too much, but if Penny was in fact his soulmate then she'd be in the spotlight sooner rather than later.

"Needless to say, I'm not exactly an average half-elf." Nico let out another chuckle at the idea of an "average half-elf." He then grabbed the keyboard and put it in his lap. "So, I guess the truth is. I've never really had to think about soulmates, or my life as a whole, just the music that I'm playing and how I feel. It's a bit sad when you think about it." He stared blankly at his keyboard before letting the magic ebb away and losing his vision. He didn't want to see her reaction to his tale. He basically admitted that he was making light of a reason that countless people came to this school for.

"You'll be fine Wes. Just don't....don't be like me and be afraid to open up to your soulmate, okay?" Opal turned to Ophelia shocked, I mean, she kinda told them about her soulmate! Why didn't they know?? Those words were quickly blurted out by Qiqi. "Since year one." Ophelia admitted, "H-he's.....in the same year as us." As Qiqi went off about what her soulmate is probably thinking, causeing Fefe to move towards her a little. Opal immediately felt a little awkward-and touched that Fefe was leaning towards her-what did Akeem think? "I haven't seen her this worked up since the first night you talked to Akeem," Ophelia whispered. Opal stopped wondering about Akeem and side glanced at her...thanks Ophelia. Not that it wasn't true...Qiqi really let her have it when she found out, but that doesn't change the fact that no one would want to be with someone who's killed people, and she didn't want to lie to him either.

Opal only half listened as Ophelia pushed them towards the cafeteria. She had felt her phone go off, and knew that Qiqi had also messaged the group. Opal was momentarily surprised when she saw a message from Akeem, but quickly wiped it off her face and glanced at Qiqi. She'd most likely make a deal out of her getting a text, and she really didn't want that right now. "Hello there Diamond. All unpacked and moved in?" She held back an eye roll at the name Diamond and glanced back at her wrist as she walked and texted back, "I am," she replied simply before glancing at Ophelia and adding, "You? And opals are still better than diamonds," before putting her phone back in her pocket.

The conversation turned to one about soulmates; a topic that Soren couldn't really care for. With a glance down at his hand, Soren audibly clicked his tongue and held it up as if waving his thread about.
"You mean this thing? I don't care for it." He voiced his thoughts, dropping his hand back to his side and continuing their walk. While his sister had been here, she'd failed to meet her soulmate-- The thread had snapped, as if the other person had died; Good for Soren as he didn't have to involve himself and tear two love birds apart. He had that same mindset for himself; In the future, he would marry. Would it be with a soulmate? Who knew. If it was up to his family, it would be a pretty vampire lady who had status and fortune.
Soren didn't want a type of relationship that would easily be broken and he certainly didn't want one that would be based and founded upon some silly string that came with a brand, essentially.
"Sure, it'd be nice to have an end game but I don't like the whole "I'm so in love." aspect upon first glance. Love is earned, not blessed on first sight." Despite hearing the joking tone, Soren wouldn't have left Elias for a soulmate regardless; They were buddies and Soren was helping him move his stuff, what type of impression would he give if he were to suddenly ditch him.

Their journey led them to the doors that he hadn't long exited and, quite promptly, Soren reached his hand out to open it for Elias; a smile curling at his lips as an invitation; "Lead the way, friend." He spoke, waiting to follow as he hadn't a clue where Elias' room actually was.

Nina watched her friend bounce from toe to toe. His energy was infectious, and had Nina smiling ear to ear. She had a pretty good guess as to where(-more like who) he was running off too, but she still pretended to be mildly surprised when he told her. Her eyes lit up with delight. Kalel of all people was who she thought deserved to find their soulmate the most. He was such a genuine sweetheart, and he was really looking forward to meeting them. Nina was hoping that everything would go perfectly for them. It’s what he deserves.

She was getting ready to congratulate him before he asked her about Jay. Or well– tried to. She heard a familiar voice ring out from behind her and almost had a heart attack as she whirled around and recognized Jay running off somewhere with flowers. Hm- he must’ve found his soulmate too. Neat. Nina kinda stood there for a second and turned back to Kalel to answer his question.

“-Maybe?” She said, confusion clear in her tone. He said he’d be back but he might forget amidst the chaos of seeing his thread and stuff. She pondered it for a moment. It was like you could see the cogs spinning in her head as she tried to figure out if her initial response was satisfactory. She decided it was and moved past it rather quickly. Her expression became less blank as she gave her attention to Kalel after hearing him speak.

Nina remembered her decision when it came to her soulmate and nodded at his question. She almost felt a bit prideful about her surge of courage when it came to this. “I am, actually. I’ll try to find him tomorrow, if he doesn’t show up today. He might want to settle in on the first day and all.” She spoke decisively with a curt nod. Yeah, we’ll see how long the temporary bravery lasts. She did that last year too.

  • Once the string led him closer to one of the dorm buildings, Jay began slowing his pace--until he saw him. His soulmate. He was ahead of him, making his way to the entrance of the building with someone else by his side.

The boy quickly halted and moved back behind the corner he had just turned from to get a moment for collecting himself. His heart was already racing with anticipation that morning, so the adrenaline really wasn't making it any better--he didn't want to be a panting mess when he meets his soulmate for the first time, either. Although he certainly wouldn't mind it if it were the other way around, Jay would prefer to play it safe. Usually, formalities or something as boring as a good first impression wasn't on his mind, but for obvious reasons, this was different. This was his soulmate.

    ...his soulmate.

    "Holy shit..."

Jay murmured a curse to himself as the reality of the situation finally settled with the future love of his life only a few feet away, his grin widening. Fuck, his face was starting to hurt from the smiling, but he seriously couldn't wipe it off.

He brought a hand to his smiling mouth in disbelief, letting out a short laugh. Jeez, has he always been such a dork? Was this how he was going to be when in lov--wait, how long has he been standing here?!

Yeah, that certainly was enough to get the grin to settle.

Jay quickly turned again and watched as his soulmate and his companion opened the entrance to the building. Desperate to just get to him as soon as possible, Jay picked up his walk to a short jog once again. He wasn't sure where he got the idea to do this or why this was an instinct, but feeling as though he was out of options, Jay gripped his hand that the string was tied to and yanked, chest fluttering as he attempted to make his soulmate look this way.

He had to stop himself from shouting; he didn't want to waste his first words.
