Preface: this is a character drama rp and is not commentary on the current political climate or police nature. To be open on my personal stance I am on the side of blm and that is not to influence a *fictional* law enforcement with far more idealistic society standards. That being said, this is a rp about tough choices in stressful situations and the relationships that form between the characters who are forced to make those decisions. I ask any who are interested in this rp to not make it an ethics trip and just enjoy the ability to have an interesting and relatively unique drama scenario.

Note: Although the character sheet is small it is expected that you get to learn your fellow officers through interaction and experience rather than what's on the cs. Make someone you feel you and others can relate to. They're not perfect, they're human too trying to do the best to protect their city, family and friends.

As I said I'm looking for ideally 8 people, and this is a character drama so although it will have super natural elements and an over arching story, it's focused on both the characters and the choices they make on the job.

Around 100 years ago on the world of Teraven a meteor impacted the planet and released a strange type of energy that caused the people of this equivalently 20th century world to develop strange minor abilities. These minor abilities caused a great stir initially, however as they didn't have any world shattering consequences these abilities were simply incorporated into every day Life with people now being able to do things like emiting strong flashes of light from their hand, creating waves of space and pushing things back. Making small things seem to disappear, or walk across the air as if flat ground for a few seconds among many other strange and random skills. These skills were random with a person only ever developing one skill in their life, and skills don't appear to be hereditary, with two parents having light related abilities, their child isn't guaranteed to have a light related ability and may have minor control over fire, or be able to create water and have no control over it. Even though so much time has passed and a lot of research has been dedicated to the mysterious energy, no significant discoveries have been made due to the energy being so hard to detect and measure. One thing thats clear however is that no skill could ever lead someone to be fearless or immortal. If someone shot or stabbed you, you're still human, and can bleed and die.
The city of Novis. A sprawling metropolis set on the coast of an ocean with plains to the north and temperate forests to the south is divided into 9 districts those being:
1) Corporate business (i.e. banks, stock firms, insurance buildings, etc)
2) Commercial business
3) Industrial and manufacturing
4) Pleasure (bars, casinos, arcades, brothels etc)
5) Residential
6) Governmental
7) Health services
8) Education
9) Slums
Although establishments of every district can be found interspersed throughout the other districts, there is still a clear division of the nine in the city. With a population of around 6 million, Novis isn't a city without it's problems and with a new criminal organization being suspected to have moved in, the Public Codes Enforcement has been forced to create a new unit in order to continue to try and maintain the peace and prosperity of the city. The Public Codes Enforcement (PCE) is a civil service stationed in district 7 however they are responsible for protecting the citizens of all districts. To become a PCE officer, one must first be atleast 18 years of age and have passed primary education or received equivalent endorsement. After that the anyone can apply to the academy where cadets are rigorously trained in both psychology and fitness first, as well as given personality and psychology tests with the goal of ensure only those with a strong desire to protect are passed through. Along with code and law training, cadets are put through numerous mock stressful situations with an emphasis on de-escalation for two years. After those two years, cadets are trained in their specialized fields for another two years. Throughout their 4 year education, cadets are trained to de escalate and only use force as a final measure to protect theirs or the lives around them in a potentially lethal situation with heavy consequences being stressed for an unethical use of force. Once cadets graduate, they are assigned to a pre existing squad in one of the nine districts or by having shown remarkable skill in their specialization assigned to a squad dedicated to their specialization.
As prior mentioned with a suspected new criminal organization entering the city, the PCE has been forced to open a new squad. The newly founded Squad 97 is a set to be a small and adaptable unit designed for both rapid response as well as inter-district investigation with aid from the district local squads and other specialty squads with members pulled from all code enforcement fields and abilities.
