I was a blind fool, never complained. All the survivors singing in the rain. I was the one with the world at my feet. Got us a battle, leave it up to me. ORIGIN โ€”
Origin Story:
Arthur Meachum has never known home. His father, Donald Meachum, was a high-ranking officer in the United States Navy. With his mother and two younger brothers, Michael and Nathaniel, their family migrated often to wherever Donaldโ€™s services were needed; South Korea, Italy, Iraq, Thailand, Philippines, and some that Arthur remains too young to remember. On the various bases the Meachum children attended naval academies. Structure, discipline, and a level system were planted into them. As the eldest child, there was more asked of Arthur Meachum and he rose to the occasion each and every time. A stellar cadet, athlete, and scholar, it was clear to his superiors that this was Donald Meachumโ€™s son. Arthur himself idolized his father, and held himself to a standard he believed would make him proud. It never quite did. Arthur was considered a golden child, but Donald had always thought gold to be too pretty for the battlefield.

Not all of his brothers had the same amount of success that Arthur did. The youngest, and the smallest, of the trio was Nathaniel Meachum who was bullied for his short, stocky stature. His freckled cheeks and robust glasses made him an easy target for the other boys. His elder brothers intervened from time to time, but couldn't protect him forever. It was with Nathaniel that Arthurโ€™s abilities had first manifested themselves, a total fluke that together, the teens tested the extent of these strange new powers. Arthur felt like even more of an alien to his father, whereas, Nathaniel was fascinated by what was their first exposure to powered individuals.

In Arthur's final year of highschool, Nathaniel had gone missing for over twenty-four hours. When it was time for the investigation, Arthur and Michael would barge into their brotherโ€™s dormitory, and were made privy to the truth of Nathanielโ€™s death in a post-mortem letter. Nathaniel described the details of the bullying that had been dismissed as boys being boys. His brother had been molested and sexually assaulted time after time. Heโ€™d had foreign objects lodged within himself and had been forced to commit horrendous acts. All of these were things that had made Nathaniel disgusted in himself as a weakling and sinner, and so he jumped into the sea. Arthur had never really been taught to deal with his emotions, at least not in a healthy way. Heโ€™d dealt with feelings by exercising them out of him, but the sensations burning through him were more than could be tamed. Instead of reporting the incident, Arthur took it upon himself to punish those his brother had mentioned in the letter. It was in the communal showers that he had finally found them. The cameras overheated and combusted, the temperature in the showers heightened significantly. Sparks flew from his palms and the four bullies were reduced to ash.

He was arrested and taken away by the authorities. Arthur did not spend a single night in jail. Instead, the chopper had taken him to a secure facility that heโ€™d never heard of, Lacrimura. Arthur was made aware of the presence of others like him, as well as the opportunity to use his powers to do good. To avenge those like Nathaniel and become a part of something greater like his father. He agreed. Testing was long and gruesome, but it would eventually transition to months of formal training. Eventually, heโ€™d be used publicly by the government as the peoplesโ€™ beacon of light. His god-like abilities made civilians flock to him, and criminals cower at his feet. He wasnโ€™t always so skilled in his abilities, but with time and experience he flourished. He developed a mental block against killing which has sometimes made him a liability to Lacrimura and a failure to his father. Alas, Atlas soon became a national staple.

As quickly as things ascended for Arthur, they seemed to descend too. Heโ€™d spent years in the superhero limelight, but had always been more of a private man. Marigold Portier was his wife and actually the lead scientist during his examination when he had first joined Lacrimura. The radioactive nature of Arthurโ€™s abilities were more than explored, and in hopes of living a relatively normal life, Arthur was given supplements to account for them. He was supposed to have the ability to sleep with whatever man or woman he chose, to bear children, and walk in public without fear of causing mutations in those around him. The results seemed promising in Marigold and Arthurโ€™s lengthy relationship, but when it came time for children, they only seemed to produce stillbirths and miscarriages. The lack of a child formed a sort of void between Arthur and his wife. A void with which he filled with his hero duties.

It was during this period that a captured villain had broken free from the facility. During the chaos, the life of Marigold Portier was claimed by this villain. Arthur quickly slipped into a depression. He coped with violence, alcoholism, and fraternization. Arthur has skipped out on therapy, and strained relationships between those closest to him. He takes self-prescribed hiatuses from being a superhero, opting for an impromptu flight to the Himalayas, or the sun. Although he's always considered himself to be a good man, Arthur wonders whether or not he must decide to kill in order to eradicate evil from the world. Furthermore, are those tiny specks on the blue ball that is Earth truly worth his saving?

Stan Lee was--is--just an average person, your everyday university student studying to get his Masters in Business Administration so he could become one of the Gears. Itโ€™s not an easy dream to achieve, but Stan has always dreamed of being able to work closely with the Five ever since he was younger. Itโ€™s for this reason that he pushes himself to the limit, ever studious and diligent in his studies and internships all while keeping an optimistic smile on his face.

Of course, everyone has their own sets of issues. Stanโ€™s seem smaller than most, at least. All of his vices and negative emotions disappear, pushed away into a dangerous power he closes himself away from. He suppresses every single bit of self-doubt and every tiny drop of pain, until it all bursts outโ€ฆ somewhere far, far away from him. Every bit of depression and anxiety, frustration and anger, the empathy he feels for others--all of it washes away, leaving a purely buoyant fountain of good feelings.

Thatโ€™s what people like about Stan! Nothing ever gets him down! Heโ€™s always there to cheer other people up and to lend a shoulder to anyone in need. Everything will be okay, he says. Everything will be okay.

origin story

Stan Lee was upset, no, he was frustrated beyond belief. He had just gotten a bad grade on his first midterm, his first major grade back at the top university in Emerdol. It was horrible. God, he hated that Professor, who was always obnoxiously strict with grading tests. Unhappy, dark emotions bubbled up from the bottom of his stomach, threatening to choke him alive. He had studied so much. Hours and hours. This wasnโ€™t fair.

He wishedโ€ฆ he wishedโ€ฆ

He wished that damned professor would just, blow up.

And all around Stan, at different points in the City of Emerdol, one right beside one poor Professor who really didnโ€™t deserve this, grotesque abominations bloomed into existence, before ripping apart the nearest civilians. They rampaged wildly, desperately fended off by Wannabes, until the Five stepped in to stop them.

This incident, thought to be a one-time occurence, was labeled the March of a Hundred Demons. But, it didnโ€™t stop there. Several weeks after, another eruption occurred. Then another. And another, and another, and another. These monsters, now thought to be part of an organized group, were soon labeled the March.

As they march on, Stan continues to go to university, with all of his stress and worries goneโ€ฆ he even got an internship with one of the Gears working with the Five! Oh, he was so excited! His parents would be so, so proud of him!

Things were finally looking up for him, after that first disastrous year at Emerdol University. He couldnโ€™t wait to start his internship, unpaid as it was. Ahh, what a blessed life he had, with caring parents who brought him up well, the most supportive friends anyone could ask for, and a bright future to look forward to!

demons of emotion

Upon feeling intense (but mainly negative) emotions or any kind of physical pain, Stan begins generating different kinds of monsters in an extremely wide radius around himself. They have differing personalities based on what kind of emotion generated them, but retain all of Stanโ€™s memories and share a basic hive mind. Stan represses any connection he feels with and any memories he receives from the March, rendering it nonexistent on his end. Maybe he'd actually be able to control his power, otherwise? Most monsters retain a degree of the duplication power that Stan has, but can deviate from the basic self-duplication template.

Monsters do not share Stanโ€™s goals, and are generally free to wreak havoc. Seeing how theyโ€™re usually based from negative emotions, this usually results in widespread property destruction and civilian murder. Worrying enough, each monster seems to be growing in intelligence and diversity, becoming more and more humanโ€ฆ
REPUTATION

The March is viewed as an extreme danger to society, as a supervillain that appeared 4 years ago.

Any rogue members of the March are seen as acceptable KoS targets once identified, to prevent any further spread due to the well-known nature of their duplication abilities. Each member has a public bounty. They almost always target civilian locations and civilian areas upon manifestation. This includes restaurants, schools, hospitals, libraries, and more. The assaults of his monsters have been equated to domestic terrorism, and law enforcement have been unable to identify a clear reasoning behind the actions of the collective. Most members tend to lash out violently in random locations, while there also appears to be actions from an organized coalition. Even docile ones are targets for elimination.

Heroes and street-level villains also dislike the March, because of the belief that their wanton destruction gives powered individuals who take non-human forms or have non-human features a bad name, and can risk making others targets in their โ€œparades.โ€ To the Five, the March is a good boogey-man to show the public why theyโ€™re heroes. For the more psychopathic, theyโ€™re convenient monster-of-the-weeks to inflict violence on. For the more sympathetic, the agony each member of the March seems to perpetually be in seems all too human. Are they escaped experiments that used to be human? Mutated animals? Conspiracy theorists go wild, thinking about the possibilities.

The identity of the Marchโ€™s leader is virtually unknown. In reality, it is a series of monsters who are in charge of all of the Marchโ€™s actions, rather than the original Stan, who peacefully goes to university, willfully unaware of the chaos his creations have wrought. Currently, the primary leader of the organized portion of the March is the most non-monstrous monster created thus far, and the most intelligent. They call him the Marshal. The Marshal actively recruits henchmen and underlings outside of Stan's creations, and is currently laying low to build up his powerbase.

fun facts
1. painfully lactose intolerant, dairy is his greatest weakness
2. but it tastes so good....
3. no, stan, don't eat the ice cream.... no....
4. you're gonna be bloated later...
5. no self-control, smh...
6. represses any memories he gains from the march, and wholeheartedly believes that he has no power. there's no tangible way or evidence to connect the two.
7. owns three guinea pigs: peppa, baozi, and sticks. his apartment smells a bit like guinea pig.
8. that being said he lives in an apartment next to the university funded by scholarships and student loans.
