Primordial Facility #1 - Metal Workshop

Celestia shook, spinning in the air as she'd been knocked back, before steadying. She'd rub her side, seeing the bruise flowly fade, and feeling ribs mend into place. This place was a trap for them...

Looking to see that Luna had easily dealt with her own enemies, she smiled, before looking back to the shambling Colossi, glowering at them. They weren't as strong as the two before, and she knew better than to believe they'd be too big a problem.

Celestia would twirl her Mace in her magic, before charging the Colossi.

Certainly a pounding. She'd spun around the Colossus' head, delivering quick strikes. Large chucks of it's face falling away, but it was far from over. She was mad, and looked to another of the Colossi, flying at it was startling speed.

Celestia struck with a great deal of anger. The last strike even shattered the Colossus' head, the rest falling apart, turning into dust, making a pile on the floor. Celestia felt better about that, it was like having a weight lifted from her, so that could could start to feel better.

The colossus that Celestia had really laid into was barely holding on. Pieces of its stony form were falling apart and landing on the floor with loud smashes, denting the stone floor underneath with ever boulder that fell off it. But it was a golem, a creature of unthinking servitude. A creature that felt no pain, or sense of fear. It didn't realize its 'life' was at an end, all it realized was that there were intruders in the sanctum.

What it did realize is that this white pony was injured from the fight. The other colossi noticed as well. They both came in towards the mare, lifting their arms up and bringing them down on top of Celestia with an strike which shattered the stone ground and sent debris flying for hundreds of feet all around.

Bonus: Celestia must make a DC 29 Constitution Save or take 85 Thunder damage, or half as much on a successful save. (Refer to Divine Reflexes).

Luna met the colossus' giant stony fist with a grin, and reached out to grab it. While a mortal would have been turned into mush, Luna's body barely gave into the pressure at all besides some light bruising. The mare caught the fist and held it in a stalemate for a moment, before teleporting up into the air far above the battle.

She summoned her weapon back to her, though in the shape of a bow this time. She pulled back on the bowstring and an arrow of lightning formed there, and she let it fly at Colossus #5. When the arrow struck the already injured colossus, it shattered apart the things head and pieces of rock flew all around. It collapsed onto its knees, and then finally hit the floor where it shattered the intricate tiling done there.

Then she turned her attention to the colossus that had hit her.

Her weapon would not be able to switch forms for another few seconds, but she didn't really want to use her weapon. She was angry and wanted to take it out on something. With a cry she flew towards Colossus #1, slamming into the creatures chest hard enough that she burst out the back of it. That colossus dropped over, completely destroyed.

With that behemoth down, she turned her attention to the one that had tried to hit her and missed. She ran towards Colossus #3 and with a warcry punched the thing in the leg, hard enough to shatter the stone pillar that comprised it. As the creature found itself with only 1 working leg and began to tumble, Luna wasted no time in picking the stone pillar up and striking the thing in the head with its own leg, causing its head to explode into shrapnel bits of rock.

Celestia would watch as Luna completely obliterated the two Colossi she'd been fighting, smiling inwardly, before noticing the Colossi that had attacked her.

She'd watched as the first staggered, and quickly, rose her shield, a blinding light flashing from it, blinding the Colossus, before quickly weaving some fast magic, a bright light seeming coming down through the ceiling, striking the creature violently.

Blinding the one creature was useful, and she turned to the other, only to find herself hit, sent towards the ground. She opened her wings quickly, banking enough that she avoided slamming into the stone floor. For a moment, she'd thought she'd gotten away lucky, only to be struck by some unseen force in the air, causing her to grunt in pain, nearly being thrown from her flight path.

Damage taken: 160

Now Celestia was angry, quickly moving in on the Colossus that had attacked her, swinging out. She put far more force into that was needed, but she relented that fact.

Celestia quickly went about defeating the first one, driving her mace through one of it's eyes, and ripping it out the other side of its face. It seemed to crumble slowly, trying to reach for her, before falling to its knees, shattering violent. It tried to catch itself before it's head fell apart, losing what structural integrity it had left. It fell to the ground hard, shattering it's chunks and pieces of stone, completely ruining that part of the floor.

The Other didn't fair much better.

Celestia was quickly, banking around behind it as she brought her mace around, striking hard at the Colossus' back, cracking it. It was a surprisingly resounding noise, as pieces fell away.

After that strike, Celestia flew up at it's shoulder, bringing the mace down on it, the sundering impact nearly bringing it to a knee. The mace went in a good three feet, sending cracks down the thing's arm, and some of the fingers fell away, falling to the ground. Pieces of it's arm began breaking away, along with other places on it's body. It was clear, it did not have much life left in it, crumbling apart slowly, trying to fight with what remaining life force that remained.

It would have been brave... If they weren't mindless.

As the dust finally began to settle from the two Luna had killed, she thought she was free... when yet another wave of dust hit her as Celestia's foe hit the ground. The cloud was thick and turned her blue fur light brown. She coughed and shook herself off, before flying into the air.

She saw that one of Celestia's enemies was still standing, and so she went over to help. She was not surprised to find that it was pretty much already dead. One light tap from either of them would destroy what little magic remained inside the creature... which gave Luna the perfect idea!

The mare flew in behind the giant behemoth and eagerly spun her scimitars in front of her. She swooped in down between its legs and slashed it where its knees would normally be, her impossibly sharp artifacts cutting cleanly through the stone of both legs. She landed in front of Celestia with a smile as the colossus just looked stunned. Luna reached up with one of her blades, and gently tapped the thing on the chest... and its body fell backwards, shattering onto the floor.

Its cleanly cut legs remained standing.

"I guess you could say I..." Luna teleported in a pair of fucking sunglasses and put them on. "... Defeeted the colossus."

That totally would have worked if the thing had feet.

Celestia watched as the colossus couldn't easily move any, then watched as Luna cleaved through it's legs, preforming a perfectly clean cut. When it fell over, she looked to Luna, smiling, "That was a wonder-..." She stared flatly at Luna when she made the pun, pursing her lips as she looked at her sister.

A few moments passed.

Then it broke, and she begin to giggle, before beginning to full on laugh, shaking her head, "Goodness Lulu... I can't believe you did that." She'd say, trying to get over her giggle fit at the terrible pun. Oh lord, it was funny, but goodness, she couldn't believe it. After she got her giggles under control, she'd lean forward, kissing Luna's cheek, "That was funny, but goodness, save the puns for later!" She'd joke, smiling as she looked around, sighing that they's managed to capture the room and all the Treasure that came with it.

Looking at the forge and anvils, she'd raise a brow, "I couldn't see it before, but look, they're runes all over these." She'd say, tracing them with a hoof.

On the pillar in front of Celestia were a few runes. One was red, one was blue, one was purple, and one was orange. She happened to touch the orange one. As she did so, the fires of the forge beside them roared to life with such intensity that the one forge lit up the entire room. "... Huh." Luna said while reaching over and tapping the blue rune. The fires blazed up further and took on a blue hue; the kind of heat you'd need to work on the more rare metals, like Adamantine or Lunar Steel.

"... Control switches, I like it. Will be useful for the royal blacksmiths we station here." Luna remarked, before hitting the black run at the botton of the pillar. As expected, the fire died down. She didn't need it to see in this dark area, but Celestia might so she half expected the forge to fire up again for Celestia's sake. "Come, let's head over to the armory and see what they've stockpiled in there."

Celestia looked around, watching the fires as Luna flipped the switchs, "This could revolutionize our military." She'd say, looking at everything, her eyes wide at the sight of the forges in action. She'd look to Luna, nodding, "It's a good thing we cleared this out!" She'd say.

When the flames died away, she used her horn to conjure up some light, making sure not to fall over any of the corpses or rubble, following Luna out.

So far so good. Once they got back to the main intersection, she'd lead Luna to the path straight ahead, wondering what else the place would have to offer in terms of ordinance or rare metals, "So far, this had been worth the effort." Celestia would say, smiling at Luna.

At the mention of revolutionizing their military, Luna perked up considerably. "Yes, it will!" She chirped, "Can you imagine if we finally had the means to effectively melt down Adamantine, or even supply full armor sets to each troop? We could finally conquer the entire planet and draw the few remaining countries under the Equestrian banner!"

Okay maybe that wasn't the most 'peace and love' thing they could do with new technology, but 'peace and love' weren't two of Luna's strong suits.

As they came to the main intersection, they had three ways to go. One led straight through, seemingly to another chamber of forges, one hallway on the left led straight back to the entrance, and one hallway led to the right. "That's the armory." Luna said while pointing right. "I don't know the extent of what's in there. I saw arms and armor, which means they make armor somewhere in here..." She says that, because all the other area had was forges. Obviously that was where the metal was melted down, and it must have been taken somewhere quickly to be shaped.

"However, I did not have time to inspect the quality of the equipment. I am not sure how high grade it is."

Celestia nodded, looking around, thinking about the idea of conquering other lands. It seemed like it would be a good idea, to prove that other nations shouldn't mess with Equestria, but the idea of just going out and taking over the world seemed a bit intense. Celestia would just smile, "Yes, we can discuss such things at a later time." She'd say, continuing forward.

Once at the intersection, she'd look around, before heading down the hall way to the right, "If there is anything in the other forges, we can check it on the way back through." She'd say, looking at Luna, smiling, "Hopefully, this goes smoothly, dealing with the golems isn't as difficult when you know what to expect." She'd reason, looking to be in thought. Her mind wondered back to what had happened at the entrance, causing her to wince, and shake her head.

Once they were moving and heading down the path, she'd look at the walls, looking at the runes. She thought the idea of imbuing an entire facility with runes for magic was a bit strange, but then again, she didn't know what they all did, so, it was a curious thing to see; she'd never thought about doing such a thing, but also runes were hard to understand, and you'd need someone to scribe and translate them.

Celestia could obviously tell that most of the runes were mostly to power the golems around the area, and to provide them with instructions. The problem with golems is that you couldn't offer complicated commands, so the runes provided a way to change a golems programming. For example, their first order of business might be to fetch the recently smelted weapons and bring them to the armory for sorting, before returning to the rune. The run would then perhaps issue new orders wherever a golem maybe needed, such as helping with stoking the forges.

"One thing, Celestia." Luna said as they walked, looking back at her wife. "I think we should try to defeat the golems with as little damage as possible. These golems could be tampered with to serve Equestria rather than the Primordials that once owned this facility. It would save many labor costs, and free up workers to go e-..."

Luna was oblivious while she was talking, having been paying no attention to their surroundings; focused on Celestia.

Roll an Intelligence Check.

Celestia continued on, looking at all of the runes, before her ear's would flicker towards Luna, and she'd look over, starting to listen to her conversation. It was a very good idea in all honesty, the golems could also be used to study the magic placed on them, maybe to discover something.

Celestia would keep looking around as they trotted, though she was focused on Luna's works more than anything really. She'd look at Luna, smiling, "That's very impressive Luna." She'd say, smiling happily, before looking back ahead.

Neither of them were paying attention. Great!

If they had been paying attention, they might have seen the very tiny beam of light at hoof level along the floor; though it was entirely possible they might have missed it as well. It was such a small beam that no mortal would have ever seen it, this was obviously a trap meant for higher beings. Luna hadn't triggered it originally because she had been in her gaseous form and had bypassed it.

As Luna's hoof brushed through the beam of light, the entire floor underneath them disappeared. It didn't fall apart or open up, it just... disappeared. The pair would fall before quickly catching themselves, and Luna shot up towards where the floor had been, only to hit an invisible wall of pure force. That was an interesting trap. The floor had been an illusion the whole time; they were walking on this wall of force the entire time.

And then the walls opened up and lava gushed in. It took no time at all for the entire chamber they were in to be filled with lava, which did... absolutely nothing to Celestia!

Luna however, was not so lucky. She began to burn as the lava engulfed her, and her regeneration would not work while submerged in such a way. This would absolutely kill her if Celestia didn't find a way to turn off the wall of force trap above them. Luna tried to scream but that only made the lava travel down her throat and burn her more.

There had to be a way to shut off that wall of force.

Make an Intelligence Check.

Luna's HP: 1,067/1,242

Celestia had been just as surprised as Luna was when they fell through the floor, flapping her wings to catch herself. She'd watch as Luna tried to fly up, only to be stopped by and invisible force. She'd growl to herself, before looking around. Then the Lava began to fill in. At first she was relieved, until she realised that Luna wasn't immune like she was to fire!

Soon, Luna was submerged, and breaking the walls didn't seem to work out well. Hearing Luna scream, terrified Celestia, and she started to panic ,and began thinking of ways to escape. She'd look back up at the shield, and come up with a plan.

Her horn would ignite with energy, and a beam would strike out at the force field. She was pushing a extreme amount of magic into it, hoping that would make it overcharge and break down.

Int Check: 42 (12+30)

Celestia would quickly realize that firing magic at the force-field did absolutely nothing. This was not a regular force-field that they could punch apart; this was one created by a being near to their own power. And it was likely being charged by the runes up where they had been standing before. They couldn't just brute force their way through it, it was repairing as fast as Celestia was cracking it.

And Luna was in no shape to help destroy it. The warrior princess was tough and could take a stab wound quite impressively, but this was far worse than a stab wound. The lava was not only burning every inch of her body on the outside, but was also leaking into her nose and mouth to scorch her insides. And unlike a mortal... she wouldn't die from it immediately.

This was hell.

Make an Intelligence Check. Preferably by trying to find a trigger mechanism and not shooting at the force-field.

Luna's HP: 887/1,242

Celestia looked around, quickly realising she was a moron for trying something like that, moments after it happened. She'd move past Luna, heading against the other wall.

She'd start to shift around, pressing on walls and tiles, hoping that she'd be able to find something. Maybe a button? Something! She'd continue, practically kicking the walls and floor tiles. She'd really easily be able to tell if she hit a trigger. The damn thing would crack once it'd switch probably!

Int Check: 48 (18+30)

Celestia managed to find a slightly outcropped piece of... whatever this chamber was... and proceeded to punch it. It shattered, but thankfully was also pushed in and began glowing blue. The wall above them turned from a dark blue color to a slightly lighter blue.

"YOU'RE GOING TO BREAK SOMETHING AND GET ME KILLED! FOCUS AND CALM YOURSELF!" came Luna's screeching voice in her mind, before the night goddess promptly went back to screaming. It finally got to be too much, and Luna disappeared in a flash of light as she teleported.

And reappeared a few feet to the left, much to her horror. "I HATE THIS PLACE!"

Luna's HP: 718/1,242

Triggers found: 1/3

Celestia's head felt like it had been hit by a enchanted warhammer, and rang painfully, looking around for Luna, before now just resuming with her search, shaking her head, trying to clear her thoughts.

She was much more careful now, gently brushing her hooves over the tiles and walls, trying to find the other switches, hoping that she'd be able to in the first place. Maybe it'd come down to her dancing, and maybe hitting a switch in blind luck. Let's hope not!

Int Check: 42

No switches this time around. And Luna wasn't looking so great either, having now passed out from the pain. Celestia had better focus and roll better be more careful with her searching! Considering her wife was practically dead beside her. It wouldn't be much longer until Luna faded away and was reduced to bones.

Would the Tree of Harmony resurrect her from this, or...?

Luna's HP: 528/1,242

Triggers found: 1/3

Celestia wasn't really doing all that hot under the pressure, starting to move quickly. She was pushing in a systematic manner, trying to go over placing carefully, so she wouldn't get them again. She'd gasp when Luna passed out, and started to get scared. What kind of horrible trap was this?! Of course, it was probably supposed ti be for other explorers. Anyway! Celestia continued searching, not wanting to lose Luna again.

Int Check: 47

Click.

Another triggers was pushed inwards, and the forcefield overhead was now a light blue color; almost a mirror image of Luna's eyes. Although at the moment Luna's eyes were bloodshot and possibly burned out of her skull. At least she had passed out and was not currently suffering!

Luna's HP: 369/1,242

Triggers found: 2/3

Celestia continued in a panicked haze, pushing the ground frantically, before looking up, staring at Luna, not wanting her to die. Then she realised a mistake she'd made. She'd stare at Luna, before inhaling deeply, knowing what she'd need to do.

She'd reach within herself, and draw out her life force, leading it into Luna, enveloping her body, before glowing brightly, then the color would fade into Luna. Celestia exhaled deeply, before continuing her search.

Sacrifice: 350 HP to Luna

Int Check: 45

Celestia: 1000/1350 HP

Some of the burns that had been on Luna's body were replaced with fresh tissue and fur, but those same wounds burned their way onto Celestia's skin. It might be the first time ever that Celestia had been actually burned, and needless to say... it didn't feel good. So that's what bandits felt when she lit them on fire!

Luckily, Celestia managed to find the last trigger. There was an audible click as the force-field opened up above them, but the lava didn't drain. She would have to grab Luna's unconscious body and haul her out of there, which shouldn't be too hard.

Celestia was quickly grab Luna with her magic, nearly screaming from the sudden pain she felt. Huh, is that what she did to people? She could worry about it later! She'd levitate Luna up and out of the trap, setting her on the floor in the hall, before getting out of the Lava herself.

She'd pain, seething, before kneeling next to Luna, shaking her gently, hoping she'd wake up, and hoping that her lifeforce would help her recover better from the burns. She'd look around, making sure nothing had shown up, though she doubted it, everything in the place was louder than them usually.

Right as they flew out, the force-field once again appeared, causing them to almost be locked inside again. Luckily, Celestia was fast enough to get them out just before it reappeared! Once she was out of the lava, Luna's regeneration kicked back in and began to quickly heal the burns on her body. The lava fell off of her in sizzling chunks, hitting the force-field and doing absolutely nothing to it.

It took a few seconds for Luna to reawaken and when she did she immediately fell over and started retching. A steady stream of lava made its way out of her system, and her body would take care of the rest. After about a minute of resting she was as good as new, looking like she'd never even suffered an injury in her life.

Regeneration was the best.

She looked over at Celestia's burns and frowned a bit, before speaking in a hoarse voice. "Th-Thanks... I really hate this place..."

Celestia nodded, pain still shifting through her in sharp throbs, "I... It was no trouble, Lulu." She'd say, smiling, before nuzzling Luna's cheek, then looked around, "We... We need to be more careful, I don't think I have the energy to do that again." She'd say, shuddering, "Or we'd have to come back again, later." She'd say, shaking her head.

She'd take a step forward, dragging her foot over the tiles carefully, feeling for switches, before sighing, looking at Luna, "Do.. Do you need a moment's rest?" She'd ask, smiling tiredly. She'd look at Luna, noticing that she looked perfectly normal now, and breathed out a heavy sigh of relief.

Looking back down the hall they were moving in, she grew a little nervous, fearing they'd run into something of the sort again, which she was not looking forward to, at all.
