Japan was such a curious place, full of tradition and technology. Culture and progress marching along in a curious lockstep. Perhaps that is what drew the Savant here, but honestly he'd have gone anywhere that the Shadow Ranger had chosen as his primary area of operation. There were other rangers, that was easy enough to see from news reports. Jones though was not from the reality and that detail continued to draw the hunger of the Savant's appetite for knowledge.

Fizzle and Flair looked rather nervous as they were brought into the lair of the Savant. They hadn't liked the first encounter and then the deranged genius had put the Jack of Hearts in charge, who managed to make the Savant seem far less unhinged. The pair manage to stumble in before the familiar life support device in which the brain sat. Both bowed if a bit comically due to their nature before rising.

"You've surprised me," said the voice of the Savant from all around the room via its various speakers built into the walls and ceiling.

"H...how's that, sir?" Flair asked as she frowns some at those words, wondering just what the hell they'd managed to surprise him with.

"I'd assumed you were just useless pawns. Yet you've managed to build and run a very successful array of businesses in Shinjuku. I'd commanded one for the needs of a lair, you instead managed to expand the operation into a lucrative business," mused the Savant as the cameras in the chamber shift and adjust to look upon the pair more. "You have value I did not initially anticipate."

"Does that mean we're going to have go out into the field again... that ranger is insane... as crazy as the Jack..." Fizzle stammers out with clear concern.

"No. I am retiring you from you roles in the field. You're too valuable to the Front with your surprising business acumen in entertainment fields. I therefore am gifting you the task of continuing to run the parlors if not finding other business to build in Shinjuku to generate resources and revenue for the Front. Do this and we will protect you. Is that agreeable?" asked the Savant with a curious tone as he gauges their reactions, studying and subtly scanning them. He was terrible are reading people, but he could understand biochemical reactions, psychological ticks and responses. Science could show him much where his personal skills lacked even if it was more clinical and could never give him the understanding and wit for naturally grasping people.

"I, wait, you want us to just become business owners for you?" Flair asked a little stunned, that she almost failed got catch one of the juggling balls she'd produced to start doing so out of nerves. This had caught her off guard and Fizzle was just staring open mouthed comically but obviously just as shocked.

"So... we don't have to face that lunatic again?" Fizzle asked more pointedly as he blows his nose very loudly on an oversized handkerchief he'd managed to pull out of his ear.

"Correct. Your value is sufficient I will detach you from the Circadians to start new lives running the parlors. The Jack won't protest. I intend on keeping him tasked with harassing and trying to kill the Shadow Ranger. You have little value to him in that venue. Do you agree to my offer?" asked the Savant with an amused tone.

The pair looked at one another still a bit stunned before nodding profusely and bowing deeply.

"We absolutely accept, sir. We appreciate you letting us do this... The show was getting a bit rough there. We can do this for you," Flair said almost in relief as he realized the Savant wasn't just toying with them.

"You may go. I wish you well in your new role, welcome truly to the Digital Front."

The Jack of Hearts was in his lair in Shinjuku, flipping cards into his hat as the screen chimes with the Savant's image appearing.

"You best be tellin' me I can take a shot at that uppity ranger, boss. I can't hold back my urges to end him," snarled the Jack to his master.

"How fortunate for you I still require the Circadians to target the Shadow Ranger then. Use your last monster. See what we can get from that. I promise you a final battle with him if this beast fails. It will also give you some last insights into his fighting style. You bested him before, but it helps to know his moves. Don't you agree?" inquired the Savant with curious tone.

"Fine, I'll give ya one last hurrah from this lot. Gives me time to watch him for when I go at him again. But I AM the next move here. None of that wait and see, nonsense. I'm takin' him out!" shouted the Jack as he flung a card at the screen, embedding it into it, ending the conversation.​

The Black Hand

Within the many halls for the base of operation for the Black Hand, John Doe was currently roaming it with a nervous expression upon his face as he was walking down. John Doe knew that he shouldn’t be visiting his Boss’ room right now… but he needed to give a first hand report of how the secret project was going along. And well, that might help calm down his boss somewhat. But still, it’s something that he should take caution with, especially when his boss is having one of ‘those moments’.

Reaching the room, John Doe only gave one deep breath in before giving a deep breath out. This seriously is not gonna be a good moment, at least for a moment. Moving ahead to open the door, John had to move his head out of the way to avoid a knife heading straight towards him digging into the door where his head had been earlier. Already from here, Doe can hear the angry ramblings coming from the normally calm and collected Markus Lionhearth. With words such as ‘FUCK, FUCK, FUCK’ and other things he cousins understand, maybe words in French, we’re being thrown across the room with no relent.

The room itself was a mess, the normally clean and well kept desks and furniture were thrown about, papers and random pieces of technology littering the room. The wall themselves had a couple sharp objects embedded into it, with other things like hammers just lying next to it. It’s a surprise how this room was still managing to keep up without collapsing. Markus himself was currently having both his hands on top of his head, an furious expression on his face as his teeth practically grind against one another with an audible noise sounding like metal screeching. John Doe almost wanted to go back to the safety of the lab… but out of fear from angering the man even more as well or the fact that it might be too late to get out of here now.

“Uh… si-“

Markus practically snapped his neck turning to face John, his fury now focused upon him as the French man in his early 30’s stood up to his full height, yelling out. “WHAT DO YOU WANT YOU PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A SCIENTIST!!!” The leader of the Black Hand said, as he approached John Doe. The aforementioned in question too afraid to even move from his spot, visibly shaking at the sight of his leader. Like a Deer on the road suddenly being flashed with headlights. Stomping his way to the scientist, he poked a finger at the chest of the man and continued his rage. “DO YOU WANT TO RUB THE FACT THAT MY RIGHT HAND MAN HIMSELF IS NOW IN CUSTODY AFTER GOING ONTO SOME SHABBY LIL MANSION? WHAT, YOU GONNA SAY AGAIN ‘OH, THERE IS NOTHING TOO DANGEROUS THERE, NO NEED TO BE WORRIED’ IN MY FACE? WANT TO REVEL IN THE FACT THAT YOU HAD A HAND IN SENDING MY BEST GROUP TO THEIR DEATH WHEN ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS BE THE GOOD LITTLE SCIENTIST AND HELP THEM OUT? WELL, COME ON, SAY IT OUT LOUD, IF MY DAY WASNT ALREADY CRAP ENOUGH, I WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY TO WORSEN IT, YOU USELESS, SPINELESS, COWARDLY, PATHETIC, MAN WHO COULDN'T EVEN DO HIS JOB RIGHT?”

Markus had finished his long rant, now breathing in and out heavily as he awaited a response from the scientist. The scientist in question was practically shaking at this point, not even making the action of crying as he stood there. Only raising a finger into the air, the Scientist stuttered our “T-th-th-t-the s-suit is ready… s-sir…” the scientist managed to get out. Markus continued staring at John Doe, the look of rage still within his eyes, before, a complete 180 had occurred within his facial expressions. Returning to a more calmer visage than what he was earlier, Markus was at the very least calmed with this news. Especially considering the fact that there may be a way to salvage all of this and get his revenge. And so, only giving a cough into a closed fist over his mouth, the Leader of the Black Hand placed his hands behind his back before saying.

“Ah… wonderful news. Would you mind showing me the progress now.” In a more calm manner, although hints of rage still lingered within his voice. It’s hard to get over such a fact anyway. John Doe didn’t to argue against such, and so, had begun escorting the French Leader towards the laboratory in question, moving ahead to a more secret part of it. After entering a code to a keypad, a section of the wall opened up within the lab away from eye’s view in John’s personal section, with the duo moving inside. Moving deeper ahead inside, the duo finally stopped once they arrived to a more larger room, machines moving all around working on something in the center of the room. From there, Markus could only give a smirk as he witnessed the very suit in front of him. Now that’s something to be happy about. Soon… he’ll get revenge for the failure that occurred within the mansion today. And he’ll make sure that all those involved will be properly punished by his own hand

With a muted flash of light two teens appeared within the bunker, one of them immediately falling to his knees and gasping as the other chuckled at the sight. Elsewhere in the room another trio of teens was talking among themselves, special attention being paid to the girl wearing the gothic clothing among them. As the other two teens appeared their attention shifted to them, the girl wearing blue and the boy wearing yellow both chuckling at the newest arrival. With a grin on his face the boy in green extended his hand to the boy in red, pulling him to his feet in one motion.

"Yea, the first time when you aren't morphed is always a bit of a shock to the system, Cedric over there says it has something to do with your body not being used to the rapid pressure change you undergo," Corey waved his hand towards Cedric even as he spoke to Nic, indicating who the other male was. "Now then, time for some more proper introductions! Name's Corey Poole, aka the Forest Green Ranger and current leader of the team. The girl in blue over there is Ellen Wiley, the Aqua Blue Ranger and our, arguably, best shot." Corey waved to the original girl of the team, her watery symbol in her hands as she grinned at the others. "Next up we have Cedric Berry, the Goldenrod Yellow Ranger and our resident smart guy."

"Before you ask, we believe my actual ranger name to be Mountain Yellow Ranger with a mistranslation having occurred at some point in time," Cedric let out a deep sigh, a resigned look upon his face. "Of course, this does mean that I have to say Goldenrod instead of Mountain in order to morph."

"Yep, and we plan to tease him about it to the day we retire from being rangers!" Corey grinned once more at his friend even as he moved to the center of the room, taking a seat on a couch within the seating area. "Feel free to take a seat you two, no point standing around after the day we've had!"

"Thanks man, I don't know how you four are even standing! I never even fought anything and I'm about ready to collapse already!" Nic was quick to hop over the back of the nearest chair, claiming it for his own in the same motion. "Names Nic, Nic Fulton! Fledgling Daredevil extraordinaire!"

"And I'm Gina Wilson, apparently the Wind Pink Ranger," the rather intimidating looking goth girl took her seat with some elegance, a bag thumping against it causing what sounded like pencils or pens to rattle within. "I do hope that we are able to get along." At the end of her sentence she gave a smile that caused most of the other teens to shiver very slightly, only Nic not even reacting to it.

"Well then, now that some of the basics are out of the way, I think we need to let you guys know some about what's going on and the state of the team and our resources," Cedric took the floor, picking up what appeared to be an organic tablet from a small table in front of his seat. "Right now, we are trying to gather information about a corruption demon called Hexxus. The original owners of our symbols apparently sealed it away something like three thousand years ago, but now its prison is starting to weaken and it's able to extend some influence out. So far, we have had to fight at least one of its minions, a giant porcupine monster." As he speaks Cedric pulls up an image of Porcuspine on the tablet, showing the two new members of the team. "I'm sure you have heard of our debut fight, and of course the fight today, but we have no confirmation that either of those monsters were working with Hexxus."

"But that doesn't mean they aren't, right now we know vaguely where Hexxus' prison is, but we don't want to try finding an exact location yet. In order to properly repair the seal, we are supposed to need a total of six different symbols. Originally there were only the three of us till these two knuckleheads decided to go spelunking," Ellen takes over from her friend, receiving a light glare as she does. "While they were out symbol hunting without me, I was talking to a mercenary company called The Black Hand. We fought alongside them during our debut fight and decided that if we were going to eventually bring the fight all the way to Hexxus' prison then we wanted their help to do it."

"Getting back to the symbols though, we need to find out what happened to yours Nic. I seriously doubt that a Power Ranger Symbol, a symbol of the good in the universe, would actually kill someone who tried to use it, even if they weren't meant to," Cedric turned to Gina, a thoughtful look upon his face. "Gina, judging by the pencils I heard in your bag I assume you draw a bit?" At the answering nod he smiled a bit. "Good, later I want to see if you can't draw what I saw that guy turn into when he first tried to use the symbol. Something tells me that the form I saw him take is important, even if I don't know how." The teen rubbed his chin, the metal Decoder Ring on his pinky flashing slightly as he did so.

"Speaking of which, we need to introduce you guys to Rhizorne. He is the one who actually lives in this bunker and is our mentor, you might have heard me asking for his help earlier actually Gina," Corey pushes himself to his feet stretching in the same motion. "We also need to have him scan you Nic, see if we can't figure out a way to trace where your symbol went or if it was destroyed."

"Yea, it felt weird when I got close to it before it flew to that guy who died. Almost like I was charged with energy, ya know?" Nic seemed to lose himself in thought for a moment, missing the flinches among the others at the mention of their failure to save the young man. "All I really know is that I want to feel that power again!"

Cedric stopped mid motion to get up, narrowing his eyes slightly as Nic and Gina followed Corey to find their planty mentor. 'It filled him with energy huh? Something is going on here, something I really don't like.'​

Episode 6: Breaking and Entering... Seriously, again.. Wait, what do you mean they broke into our place? They're allowed to do that!?

It was quite remarkable how quickly a sense of normalcy comes once the monotonous routine of life settles back in. The simple cycle of waking up, showering, brushing of the teeth, eating and off to school, each action repeated so many times that it helps lure the mind back into a sense of security. Even Vivian, who had, days before, been so terrified she had been unable to do anything besides curl up on the couch near someone had mostly returned to normal and spent most of her time at the mansion working on the large laser weapon left behind by the robbers. The mechanical work helped keep her mind off of everything and taking apart something that once scared her help her regain some semblance of control over her life and that which tried to take it from her. None of them wanted to think about the fact the damage to the house was gone. It had not been cleaned or repaired, the damage had simply vanished as the house 'healed'. What didn't 'heal' was quickly cleaned up by the reconstituted skeletons who they had to purchase new clothes for since, apparently, those robbers had thought shooting skeletons had been a grand idea and ruined their outfits.

That was not the only thing that had been destroyed, the swamp cooler had been shot to pieces as well which made Simon complain ceaselessly. It was hotter then satan's ass these last few days and they had blown up the AC. Apparently not only did they waste time stealing cosplay equipment, but they sought to make everyone around them miserable, as if disappointing their parents wasn't enough already and, worst yet, the replacement would take two weeks to get there. Two. Weeks. What kind of customer service was that? Outrageous. So the man did the only logical thing in that situation, he hired another monster, a formless cloud of cool air to float around the manor bringing the temperature down to a 'proper' chill.

Indeed, life was returning to normal and things even, somewhat, looking up. If they ignored the fact the house was alive and they were likely inside of its stomach, there was a group of armed weridos who invaded their creepy living home and that the local power ranger now knew them and their creepy house.

Besides that? Life was peachy.

Episode 7: DAY OF NIGHTMARES

The public needed to know. And the TDF was the one to inform them about the dangers of the Digital Front. Many of the people took what was being said to heart. Though there were others that didn’t feel that the Digital Front was as much as a threat as the TDF was making it up to be. That it was something that was blown out of proportion.

However, the majority believed in everything that the TDF has stood for and the protection that they, in conjunction with the Shadow Ranger has been able to provide. (Decrease Popular Opinion of Digital Front by 10%)

With Jin and his team becoming new Rangers, it was only reasonable that they should have some new zords to go with their powers so that they could fight the monsters in this ever growing threat.

Operating in conjunction with the TDF, they built and designed 5 Zords that were capable of operating within the capacity of the assembled soldiers turned Power Rangers with the ability to form into a new Megazord that could work alongside the Titanzord.

While the New Rangers were getting their abilities, the Shadow Ranger fell into a deep slumber. The world around him was burning. It was his old home. The world that had fallen to darkness and was barely kept alive by a thread. Death and destruction was all around him.

Ahead, his old team fought a twelve foot tall Sludge Monster and appeared to be losing as dead or dying civilians and soldiers lay around the beast.

Flames scorched around as screams could be heard coming from every direction.

In reality, The New Rangers were unaffected by the spell of sleep during the gaining of their new powers via the Morphing Grid. They heard the alarm of a Monster Attack. The Ginza District was under attack by a group of Freaks and a Sheep wearing Red Boxer Shorts.

Digital Front

The Jack of hearts was ecstatic as he watched the ramage of Mistbeast and the rest of the Freaks. The only thing that would have made him even happier was if he was actually allowed in on the action.

It was something that he craved. Something that he needed. Something that was his full desire, to participate in killing the Shadow Ranger and all he held dear to him. It was an obsession of his. He needed to fight him one final time. Mano e Mano.

To him, it didn’t matter if he died. As long as he crushed everything that meant something to the Ranger. And if he had to start with his beloved Japan to draw him out of hiding, then so be it.

Protoscape’s medical division was a huge success. The people craved and appreciated life saving medical assistance and devices at such reasonable rates. IN the end, it made sure that there was a greater profit margin than if they released them at normal rates. (Gain 2 energy a turn from sales)

The TDF has begun a smear campaign against the Digital Front itself and while there are those supporters of the cause that either don’t believe it or dont care, the majority of the population trusts what the TDF has to say. (Decrease Popular Opinion by 10%)

Simon manages to train the Komodo Dragon to attack whomever is holding a treat, if by attack, you mean sit on top of until the treat is relinquished. Other than that, the Komodo Dragon does not seen keen on following any orders given and merely does its own thing.

Without warning, Simon, Vivian and Wolf begin to get tired and fall into a deep sleep. The trio appear in a realm of darkness. Vivian is in an enclosed space behind a door. Simon is within a smosh pit with no room whatsoever and Wolf is surrounded by piles of meat.

The realm that was once of peaceful dreams, will become one of never ending Nightmares and Darkness.

Rhizorn scans Nic and manages to discover that the Fire Red Symbol exists, but not within this realm. It has been taken elsewhere, though he can’t yet track that down.

Suddenly the entire crew is brought into the lull of Deep Sleep. They are surrounded in the deep parts of the forest. Wriggling vines block their paths as they attempt to move off of a singular path drawing them deeper into the dark woods. Mutated animals scurry along their path as they continue to travel. The sun soon is not to be found.

The Black Hand

The creation of the Advanced Combat suit using the Helmet of the Ender and the Crown of Time was a success. The user was able to rewind time, though both sides know that this act has been done, merely the actions themselves have been reversed. Raising a Supreme Biomechanical Beast was not an easy undertaking and it was resulting in the pulling together of many resources and favors that were available. Even the monsters were not immune to the ravages of the work that was to be done to create this absolute monstrosity. Red Ugly Bird, Headstail and Mr Handy were all consumed in order to make this project a success.

Infusing it with the Orb of Lokar and the Staff of the Exile would make it capable of taking on Megazords, even on foot. This would be a monstrosity that would be all a league of its own and very little would be able to take it on in a fair fight.

People would fall, Cities would fall. Rangers would fall. ALL WOULD FALL BEFORE THE MIGHT THAT IS LORD WHITE! HIS POWER IS NOW ABSOLUTE!!!

At least, this was his thoughts before he was suddenly taken into the darkness of a deep sleep. But unlike the others, his would feel different. He was surrounded by a red pulsating energy.

The world that he was in, was the final battle that him and his ranger team had against their villain. The mechanical Doorman and his legion of Repair bots. They were fighting through a veritable horde of machines, the Doorman wearing his stupid looking Fez as he laughed and ordered more machines to the front.

Modifying both the weapons and armor of the Spec Ops soldiers… it is intended that either automatically or with a push of a button, both the equipment as well as weaponry shall be rendered ‘useless’, exploding into a ball of flames that intends on removing all evidence as well as kill any soldier that is left unconscious and / or captured and isn’t brought back to safe lines in a set number of time.​

MYSTERIOUS SLEEP ILLNESS​

Yesterday, many people around the world found themselves in a sudden, deep sleep. All attempts to rouse them failed, even through medical means. While everyone awoke after several hours it was still a unique event that has left doctors perplexed.

During interview Dr Yumiko Hashida of Tokyo General Hospital claimed, "the sudden illness was not medical in nature. From the multiple people we have ran tests on, from blood tests to MRI's, we have been unable to identify any cause for the deep sleep. There are also no indicator's across any tests that show the difference between those who were affected and those who were unaffected. This leads me to believe that we are dealing with an unknown medical phenomenon or the cause was not medical in nature."

Dr Hashida refused to speculate further as to potential causes but has said that further research is ongoing.

The rhythmic thunk of a walking stick striking the ground echoed throughout the woods, betraying Corey's presence to the wild animals of the area. With a deep breath he relaxed as he crested another hill along the trail, finally able to bleed off the tension that had been accruing over the past several weeks of incident after incident. He took a seat upon a nearby bench and leaned back, closing his eyes and listening to the returning bird song and faint sounds of larger animals in the background. Picking up a nearby piece of dead wood he starts carving it aimlessly, no real plan in mind for what he is creating. As his hands work, he lets his mind wander back to the recent nightmare that the team had shared.

'I thought I had gotten over that, guess it's still going to worry me huh,' he thought, his mind flashing back to an incident from when he was younger and was put into danger.

Lightning flashed outside the small cabin, illuminating the interior and showing a scene of chains and blades. In the corner a young boy shivered with fear, his eyes wide as he stared at the large man dressed in a butcher's apron across the room. Even as the man smiled evilly at him, the young boy held onto hope that he would be found.​

The sun beat down, heating the river's edge to a comfortable temperature but not making it too hot. Ellen smiled as she laid out her towel, ready to relax and sunbathe now that she had some free time. After the apparent nightmare that she and the others had shared she didn't quite feel like dealing with other people for a while, not when she could still remember the whispers that she had been reminded of. With a deep sigh of relief, she laid out on her towel and listened to the calming sounds of the flowing river and the occasional splash of a surfacing fish.

"Freak! Waste of Space! Useless!"

Ellen shot up, shivering and looking around to try and find out where the voices were coming from, even if she knew that no one would be there. She forced herself to calm down, laying back and trying to banish the memories from her mind as tears flowed down her face.​

"Come on you stupid piece of scrap, turn!" Nic grunted, trying to force his wrench to turn a seized bolt on his motorcycle. With a final push and grunt it finally turns, slamming his hand into the bike itself. "Shit! Piece of junk!

"Nic, what's mom said about cussing in the house?" The teens younger brother teased from his position at the garage's door, leaning against his cane. "You know she'll complain if she hears you."

"Yea yea, what did you need Shaun? You don't come down here too often," Nic turned and leaned back against the bike, still waving his hand to get rid of the pain.

"Just wanted to check on you, ever since you got back after that weird nightmare thing you've been acting different."

"I'm fine bud, just been distracted is all," Nic closed his eyes, the crunch of a car and scream of pain flashing through his mind again and making him flinch. "I'll come up and hang out here in a bit, just let me get this fender off so I can clean it."

"Alright, if you say so!" As the younger boy turned around to go back into the house Nic's eyes shot to his left leg, the one which had been destroyed in a wreck that Nic had caused.​

Pictured was herself in her full ranger gear, cannon in her hands. She picked the canvas up carefully and hung it up on the wall to let it properly dry, finally turning her music down from full blast now that her work was done. Catching a flash of black from the corner of her eye she whirled, shivering slightly when she realized that it was nothing. Ever since she had gotten back home, she had been seeing spiders in the corners of her eyes. "Forget it, I just need to plan out the other's paintings."

With another smile she opened her sketchbook, pausing only briefly upon a drawing of what the so called 'Lord of Nightmares' was supposed to look like according to Cedric.​

The Jack of Hearts strolled out in the open of Tokyo, flipping cards in the air and catching them. He was humming to himself a grim sounding tune as he did so, his bloodlust at its maximum. He was furious that the last attack had been thwarted by those half-assed wannabe rangers that Jones had managed to pull together. He was ready for the main event though. The Savant was out of reach for the time being, but that mattered little. He was going to go get himself that kill one way or another. He starts to fling cards, causing detonations here and there, sending the public fleeing before him.

"Shadow Ranger! I'm callin' you out, boy! Come on out here so I can whoop you again! Or are you gonna send out your little rent-a-cop rangers like last time, ya damn coward!"

More cards go flying and more destruction rages as he continues his approach towards the heart of Japen's government, the National Diet Building. He was going to force this confrontation one way or another.

The Savant watched the mayhem dispassionately from his data feeds. He had just awoken from some terrible nightmare and now... was watching his last piece of the initial game move into position. Thankfully things were sent in place long before this, monitoring would be good. He was annoyed that the last Circadian monster had been defeated by those new rangers... but it provided new data so in the end was more a win for himself.

"Yes, draw him out, maybe you'll even injure him," mused the Savant a bit darkly as his attention shifts away to the foundry facilities in his lair. He had something of his own to prepare, already considering the potential defeat of the Jack. He had an issue of his own to force, one that his recent nightmare had pushed him more fully into carrying out. His mind focused and guided the fabricators as parts started to formed and assembled. An impressive armored frame appearing on schematics to guide the systems even as it was seemingly altered every few moments. It appeared to be a mobile combat system, needing a very special sort of pilot. A human brain to be precise.​

The house was a bit quieter then normal, not just in noise but in atmosphere. A 'weight' seemed to have settled on the occupants, the stress of living in a living house, the memories of a horrible nightmare that even the mindless repetitive nature of cleaning up after Simon's party could not dull. Yes, there was an almost unbearable sense of wrong in, well, almost everyone. For his party, Simon had been positively chipper. Wolf and Velma talked about some 'nightmare' they both shared, but Simon? All he remembered was lots of beer and dancing. Really, was a good dream. And the party? A god damn riot even if the boys had ran over the fence with the van... Twice. Sure Velma seemed down because the Power Ranger she invited didn't come, but really, why did she want a buzz kill power ranger to show up? What? Did the cops not coming to tell them to 'keep it down' not enough, had to throw in a spandex person wincing whenever someone got lost in the closet? Still them being so down was starting to irk him.

They needed something. Something 'fun'. Something new. A change of scenery. Get out of the house and away from the mirror always whining about its 'gems'... "Road trip!" The idea sprang to his mind the exact moment the words left his mouth.

The was it! They could drive to the coast, hit the beach, see the sights, eat random diner food, it would be great. He'd always wanted to go on a road trip, but he never thought it would be with a big furry creature like Wolf, but he'd take it. Simon all but sprang off the couch, sending bits of flaming hot cheetos falling to the freshly vacuumed carpet as he moved to the stairs, "Velma! Pack your shit!"

Silence met him and instead of going up, Simon repeated it louder, "Velma! Pack your shit!"

After a few moments of silence, a small, timid voice came back from the top of the stairs, "W-Why?"

"Road trip!"

Episode 8: Diet Rampage


The Wyrm squad was able to perform their job admirably and track down the source of the ads. Surprisingly enough, it all came back to an arcade that seemingly had no connection to anything. Perhaps it was merely some sort of front for The Digital Front? Or perhaps it was something more sinister. More observation showed that at least it was a functional arcade. The coming and going of normal customers ranging from children to adults was of the normal variety.

The TDF front line soldiers received a boost in the quality of equipment that they have. As such, they are now upgraded from weak minions to Medium Minions. It had taken time and effort, but with it done, they were a better protection force than ever against the forces of evil. (-10 Energy)

Digital Front

The Jack of hearts was running amok at the seat of the Japanese Government. The National Diet building was the perfect way to draw out The Shadow Ranger. And if he didn’t show up, then at least he would be able to trash those other, more inferior Rangers. The fight was the main thing that he wanted.

But he did want the Shadow Ranger Dead. That would have already happened if not for the wants of the Savant. He could have had the Shadow Ranger’s Head on a Silver Platter. But no, research always comes first with him.

The mechanical frame shuddered to life as the brain jar was firmly plugged into place. It moved ponderously at first before starting to become more agile and lively as the mind piloting its new frame started to get acclimated to it. The Savant examined one of his hands as he flexes and works the fingers before finally chucling. He had wanted a body again now that he was prepared for his gambit. All that remained was entice the Shadow Ranger into meeting which could be arranged. A special message was dispatched to the TDF with it clearly addressed to Jones.

You and I should speak now that the curtain is pulled away and the pieces are off the board. I want to meet you in person as you so starkly requested previously. I would hope you will not pass up this opportunity.

The location was outside of Tokyo seemingly out of respect for avoid violent altercations near the city. It was a forest area owned by the Japanese government as undeveloped nature reserves for the time being. There was a table and chairs. Only the Savant was there with an escort of Synthoids acting a bodyguards and attendants considering they were the ones making sure the area was clear for the meeting. They were keeping their sensors running, checking for ambush or betrayal. The Savant had made sure things were in place more to collect data. A final collection should this meeting lead to his potential demise.

At the lair, the trio of Synthoid leaders are watching from a screen. General Redline had his hands clased behind his back. Tallyman was stroking his chin thoughtfully as he occasionally plays with his tie to readjust it. Zero was sitting atop the now empty life support unit from which the Savant had run their secretive organization until now.

"I can't believe he's really doing this," Tallyman said with a stunned tone. "That psychopath is going to just try to gut him."

"Perhaps, but then again they might actually talk. Our leader sadly isn't very social but Jones isn't the most compelling sort either," Redline replied as he looks on at the screen.

"It doesn't matter," Zero said calmly from his perch. Redline and Tallyman look towards him in seeming surprise considering Zero almost never spoke. "The Savant has a plan. His vision isn't achieved yet. He knows what he's doing. We're here to make up for what weakness he fully understands he has."

"Well, I suppose..." Tallyman admitted as he still looks on at their generally mute counterpart. "But this is so... stupid? For the Savant of all people..."

"No, Zero's right. This is something more. Look at all the systems. He's recording everything... even himself.

In that moment, the trio regarded the control room more fully, realizing that the systems were indeed fully engaged on a level they hadn't been until now. Something very major was happening in the computational systems of the Digital Front.

"Let's just hope the Shadow Ranger answers, or we'll have to go to Plan B," Zero said and returned to his silence.​

Nic stared down at the stone symbol in his hand, twisting it to observe it from every angle that he could. This was his symbol, his element, his source of power, and it was completely useless as it stood. What did that say about him? Was he useless like it? Or were they going to be able to recharge it and let him join his friends in risking their lives and make it safer for them?

"Hey Nic, what's with the long face?" the young man jumped, pulled from his semi-depressive spiral by the voice of Gina. The younger teen smirked at him as she sat down across from him, kicking her legs onto the small coffee table between them. "You'd think you'd be happy that you can almost finally stop having to sit around in here."

"I am Gina, I just don't know how long it will take us to get the symbol fixed," the red-shirted teen sat the symbol on the table, watching as it stayed perfectly upright instead of falling as it should have. "At least we know it still has some power in it though, otherwise it wouldn't feel right for me to be holding it."

"Well, sitting here staring at it won't do anything. So come on, let's bring it to Rhizzy," Gina grabbed the symbol and jogged towards where she had last seen the team's mentor, cackling as Nic let out a shout of surprise and stumbled after her.​

The trio entered their creepy monster house for the first time in what felt like ages. Simon was wearing a godawful tie dye shit with a haku lei draped around his neck which was peculiar because they did not go to Hawaii. Neither Wolf or Vivian actually knew where he got it, but neither thought it was worth asking as it was probably a very stupid answer that neither one of them wanted to pretend to be interested in even if Simon kept pulling at it whenever he spoke on the ride back clearly trying to prompt them to ask about it. Wolf was dressed in a trench coat, a fedora and dark sunglasses, a necessary precaution to hide his monster status from the ordinary people. How anyone didn't notice he was not human was a great mystery that Simon didn't care to think about and Vivian couldn't explain, but it worked. There was a great problem with this, of course, it was rather warm.. and Wolf had a lot of fur, so he sweated a lot. While Vivian never said anything about it knowing it wasn't his fault, Simon constantly complained about the smell of 'wet wolf' for most of the ride there and back much to Wolf's eternal shame and embarrassment. Lastly, Vivian wore a large sun hat with a plain yellow sundress that she was secretly very fond of, and Simon had even given her a compliment! Which was weird because Vivian was quite certain that Simon was utterly incapable of that, but it was a pleasant surprise. Really, the entire vacation, outside of the occasional bickering, had been a godsend especially after the attempted break in and the weird nightmare. Well, there was one 'oddity' that happened when Simon pretended to cuddle her for half the night because his parents insisted on facetiming them, the fact she was pretending to be his girlfriend for money really did not do much for her self-esteem.

"Man, it is good to be back, still clean. God, I love those fucking skeletons," Simon said as he tossed his bags on the couch and stretched, "seriously, best money I've ever spent."

"They seem useful," Wolf said, "But I worry about the implications.."

"Wolf, we've talked about this. If a skeleton ever walks up to me and does the whole, 'Does this unit have a soul,' I'll free them. Seriously, pissing me off with the whole 'skeletons have rights' bullshit," Simon said as he rolled his eyes and dropped on the couch. Typical, he brings home free labor and they complain about 'Undead Rights'.

"Do you think they have souls?" Vivian asked as she gently scooted Simon's bags and sat down herself, fishing out the strange laser blaster she had been fiddling with for awhile, after having used it in her dream, she had grown a bit fond of it. As long as she was holding it, she was sure she'd never be as helpless as that.. time.

"Hey Simon," Simon asked himself before turning his head as if he was truly talking to someone, "Yes, Other Simon?"

"Do you care if the skeleton help has souls, Simon?"

"No, I fucking don't, Other Simon,"

"Fuck Skeleton Rights, Simon?"

"That's right, Other Simon, and that is why you are second in command," Simon finished as Vivian rolled her eyes.

"You don't have to be an ass," Vivian grumbled as she fiddled away.

"Oh, but I really, really do. It's in my contract," Simon said as he picked up the remote and flipped on the television, "You know, with that shadow mirror."

"On that, you think it'll be mad that we were gone for so long?" Wolf asked almost concerned, the last time they were 'messing' around, it got... insistent.

"Probably, damn mirror is needy as fuck," Simon said as he rolled his eyes, "God, I'm glad you're my fake girlfriend and not that thing."

"Thanks," Vivian said with an eyeroll.

"Anytime, and it's okay wolf, I bought a thing."

"A thing?" Wolf asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, some bullshit cosplay helmet. I'ma chuck that bitch in the mirror and let it nom it up. Stupid mirror is probably just Hangry," Simon said, although it was hard to tell from his tone if he believed that or just simply didn't care if it was true or not.

"I don't think it'll work.." Wolf said warily.

The Black Hand

Another day within the base of the Black Hand… although it was more empty than usual. At least, that’s what John Doe thought as he was checking things off on a clipboard as preparations were being made for testing were done. Only moving his head back to let the slowly floating form of some strangely galaxy colored cloud to pass right by him, John could only sigh at the recent events. Apparently, Markus had the bright idea to get a ‘mascot’ to try and improve the moral of the soldiers… and he thought what better way to do so was by going with his hologram producing drones onto the ‘villain bar’ as he calls it and spent some of the money the Black Hand had on some living cloud that was made of dreams.

Well, John could note that it was somewhat effective, as some of the scientists nearby were giving pats onto the head of the cloud… which was enjoying the positive attention it was getting. While he wasn’t gonna try and argue against the existence of something like an entire manifestation of dreams taking the form of some clouds were nearby, he was more used to such things considering that Markus’ own suit had the ability to control time itself with the crown it had. Now, back to the current state of things… as of now, Markus was off doing some ‘group exercises’ with his most trusted soldiers as of currently… which was just a way of saying training. But like always, John Doe was always left behind to do the grunt work… especially with that new plan Markus has in order to try and get that power ranger to hand over their armor pieces.

Walking into a dimly lit room, there was an apparent one way window that stared directly into a singular chair in a white room, bound to it, was none other than the former spec ops heavy weapons operator and one of two survivors of the raid upon the mansion. After the successful raid upon the police station, Markus had an idea regarding how to deal with the failed spec ops soldier who might have thrown away information to the enemy. John Doe only walked into the white room pushing a small cart in front of him, the spec ops soldier stopping his struggling as of currently.

“You know… you are rather lucky to still be alive now… Markus often has high expectations when regarding his Special Operations group… but hey, now that you are officially ‘fired’… he had one last ‘gift’ for you before you leave.”

The scientist said as he raised a needle with some kind of grey fluid inside, giving small taps to the sharp metal bit on top. Filled to the brim with experimental nanomachines… this would be their first official test upon another human being… the previous tests were… not good to say the least, but now making a leap from frying a rats brain who could possibly not handle the older models of the nanomachines with a larger man, it was time to see whether or not it would do the job. The former spec ops soldier struggled more seeing the scientist stand over them with the needle… menacingly from his point of view… slowly lowering the needle… and that’s when the world went dark for the former Spec Ops soldier.

The Lord of Nightmares exhaled and inhaled, which was a moot action because he was neither human nor biological and yet somewhere inside of him he had dreams of humans and yet, it seemed real, for the world contracted and retracted like actual lungs in sync with the Lord. "It feels, different, amazing, the power is mine, less muddled" he noted to the Moth. The Lord of Nightmares had put his own nightmare to rest for Lord Xavier White, who now rested at the bottom of the lake. "Poor, tortured, pathetic fool" he muttered before switching his attention to other things, remembering Grace and Cedric, and their concerns, mentions of monster houses, demons, the digital front and everything else happening.

As if anticipating his needs, the scry pool, an ornate pedestal with a bowl appeared, and he stared into it, slowly browsing the different factions and people of the world outside of dreams. "So much happening, so much chaos" he muttered, he had been too pre-occupied with the former white ranger to keep up with things. The horned Lord spoke. "Maybe, what everything needs is a reset, force the issue" he needed, an issue so large that many people and things would have to respond. He stopped the bowl's vision cycling and stopped it on the house again, and it's real secret, the treasure it guards, a mirror.

He remembered his human friends, again. "Friends" it muttered, somehow rationalizing this in their name. Dealing with the problem now would solve a bunch of issues, even if it was not ideal. "Mirror, Mirror" The Lord whispered as the bowl began to shake and using his new-found essence and power he forced the seals to break, allowing the devouring entity into the world. "What is hunger but a primal instinct, a pure dream" he expressed. "I am the Lord of Dreams, and you will eventually submit" he expressed amused, using the bowl to contact Grace and Cedric, shifting his voice from demonic.

"Grace, Cedric! I looked into the monster house and some world devouring demon is stepping through! We need to act fast, let's meet up, we are out of time"

The Wyrm squad managed to locate and shut down an arcade that seemed to be a front for the Digital Front. Through their hard work, they managed to locate another of their fronts, Protoscape Medical which served to bring forth special advanced technology to the people, generally helping to give a more favorable opinion of the Digital Front to the people through their humanitarian actions. (Shut Down Arcade Front)

The Public Festival was huge. The TDF had gone all out for this to help generate good will in light of the recent slander campaign by The Digital Front. A large swath of people arrived and were enjoying the great carnival games, the amazing acrobatics shows and the delicious foods which smelled wafted throughout the entire district. (+10 Popular Opinion)

The Shadow Ranger gets an invite for an in person meeting with The Savant to resolve their differences. Is it a trap? Or will they just talk? Will the Shadow Ranger even show up?

SPECIAL EVENT:


Suddenly, the sky began to darken as the sun was blotted out. Strange Shadow Creatures began to emerge from any dark crevice that was around and began attacking the people. The creatures were elongated approximations of humanoids with ever growing rows of sharp teeth and long claws.

Emerging from underneath the shadow of a Large Truck comes a mass of tentacles in the shape of a man. It begins to grab people in its many tentacles.

Digital Front

The meeting is set. Whether or not the Shadow Ranger will show up is another matter. After all the things that have been done, perhaps a peaceful resolution will not be one that can be conducted. But for the gathering of data, it will depend if the Shadow Ranger arrives at all in order for that to be conducted.

The Tallyman ran the numbers and concluded that it was a crazy plan no matter what. If the Shadow Ranger showed up, they would have to go to Plan B no matter what. But if he didn’t, well then, they would have to rely on the other Ranger Samples in its entirety. And that wasn’t something that he was liking.

Even with the backups, the lieutenants of The Savant were not feeling that this plan was sound. However, The Savant acted how he willed and would never listen to any advice that he felt was below his intellect. Such was the way of things.

The Samples were taken and given. The readings didn’t seem much more different than a normal person. Either these Wild Rangers falsified the data somehow, or they were not as powerful as a Ranger should be. It would give them thought. BUt they should still be able to make progress on their goals.

SPECIAL EVENT:

Episode 9: The Shadow Lord

Grace had conducted research on the mercenaries. Their uniforms did not seem to match anything that was in the normal data bases. However, she was able to track down through great difficulty and late night research, the description of the lead soldier mercenary that she had interacted with in the Police Station. The description was of a mercenary captain that worked for a mercenary group known as The Black Hand.

They seem to have an extremely sterling reputation and have been bringing back life to the town. According to the public, they can do no wrong and have provided jobs and even grand donations to the people of the town of Redwood Cove.

If these are the same mercenaries, then uncovering and proving this fact could prove disastrous to their image that they have been cultivating.

Gary and Veruca have begun their training and now have the necessary skills to fight as part of a team and with their new Dragon Powers. Time will tell how effective they are going to be in battle as they are still quite green. However, they seem to have picked things up rather quickly as though it was a natural part of themselves.

SPECIAL EVENT:

Grace arrives outside of the Monster House in order to check up on Vivian, Simon, and Wolf. All seems normal at first, just a typical spooky looking House when suddenly darkness erupts from the top windows of the building, spilling into the sky and beginning to block it out.

Shadow Creatures start to emerge from any object that casts a shadow. The creatures begin to attack people and if people aren’t around, they begin to strike out against various objects. They don’t seem too bright, but their strength seems immense.

Grace sees the trio exit the Mansion as the building itself grows a demonic face, hands and legs as she gets a message from Connor about a World Devouring Demon coming through the monster House and that they should meet up.

Abyssos

The Vacation was just what the trio needed. It was pleasant, it was relaxing and most of all, they didn’t have to deal with any sort of bullshit that the being from the Mirror wanted them to do. Sure, it would probably be mad at them for ditching their full time jobs of helping find the crystals to release it from the Mirror. But that could wait. They were relaxed and everything was fine. Vivian spends more time working on her powerful rifle. Rifle stats- Roll 2d1000 and take the higher roll. Special attack: Instead of attacking, can give covering fire and cause the enemy to reroll 1 attack roll)

The Golden Helmet is fed through the mirror to Abyssos. It seems pleased? Suddenly the Crystals that have been acquired begin to glow and flow towards the mirror. The mirror itself begins to glow as well and then the crystals shatter into tiny pieces. Suddenly, darkness begins to slorp out of the mirror.

A voice booms in their minds, “I have been freed by a power from elsewhere. “RISE MY MINIONS AND PREPARE THE WORLD FOR MY HUNGER!!!!”

Shadow minions began to emerge from all else and the entire building began to shake.

The trio would only have a few moments to grab a handful of things before they managed to get outside of the house.

SPECIAL EVENT:

The Trio see Grace exit the Mansion as the building itself grows a demonic face, hands and legs as they watch more and more of the Shadow Minion emerge from any object that casts a shadow. The creatures begin to attack people and if people aren’t around, they begin to strike out against various objects. They don’t seem too bright, but their strength seems to have grown beyond what they have previously seen.

They, themselves feel the power of Shadows in them. They feel stronger, faster, smarter than before. (Bonus to Rolls)

Episode 9: The Shadow Lord

The Group manages to assemble some fake samples to give to the Digital Front. Whether or not these pass inspection are another thing. However, Rhizorn is a master of genetic manipulation, so its possible that they could be able to do so. Either way, that seems to be resolved at least for the moment.

Rhizorn had looked over the Fire Symbol and through research notes with lots of sighing and tapping of his plant like fingertips. After a number of hours when it seemed as though he had finally given up, he jumped up with an exclamation of “EUREAKA! I have figured it out. According to these obscure notes, it seems that each of the symbols were created by using a large amount of the energy in question. Which means that in order to restore the Fire Symbol to its activity, we must hit it with a concentrated Fire Blast. That should activate it.

SPECIAL EVENT:

The sky suddenly becomes dark, which was strange, it wasn’t supposed to rain today. And it according to the forecast, it was to be clear skies for the next four days at least. Something seemed off. As they checked outside, they’d see that the skies had been darkened by powerful shadows and creatures that were made from Shadows were emerging from behind the trees, tearing them down.

Suddenly Cedric received a message in his mind. It was from Connor. He was saying that he looked into the Monster House and saw that some World Devouring Demon was stepping through and that they needed to meet up to stop it.

The Black Hand

The Nanomachines were a complete success. It has the ability to completely control a person based on their own personal willpower. As such, those that have stronger willpower will be able to fight against the control. However, those that are weaker willed will collapse into complete control of the nanomachines.

Markus training has helped improve his Strength to count as 10 while wearing the Armor. He is now a lean, mean, fighting machine. It is only a matter of time before the world bends to his will and all will call him their Emperor. He will soon enough be able to bring about the second coming of the French Empire such as Napoleon, but this time under him, a greater tactician than he.

SPECIAL EVENT:

Alerts and calls coming in from multiple sources and all over the World. Strange Shadow Monsters and Shadow Men are emerging from any object that brings forth a shadow and are attacking both people and structures. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to their attacks.

The Tallyman on his side, now as The Cosmic Tallyman began to run the numbers. “Sir, I must object to this course of action. There is a large percentage chance that unleashing this Demon will annihilate the entire universe. And yes, while we could be safe in this one, there is nothing saying that once it is done with our previous realm that it will not attempt to absorb this one as well.”

The Tallyman sighs as he realizes that he was now working for another boss that wouldn’t listen to him. At least now he had far more power than he ever had before. That had to count for something.

Connor was able to use a large amount of energy that he had generated from his various endeavor, the enemies that he had killed and the very essence of the lake of the Nightmare Realm itself to break open a weak spot between the realms. A mirror was all that stood between Abyssos the endless void of darkness and its latest meal.

The mirror was breached with the energies of the crystals and his own energies. The time of the Shadow Lord had begun.

Connor reached out to Grace and Cedric about this development.

The trio watched the screens as the Savant was violently struck down by the Shadow Ranger. The mad genius had not even put his arms up in self defense, seemingly welcoming the blow and the results. The end was swift from there, the overclocked chassis had failed as the life support jar fractured under the pressure. The Savant's brain was destroyed without much fanfare by the shattered jar as it collided with the ground. The trio flinched slightly as they watched their leader perish.

"So, that's it then?" Tallyman asked in a rather stunned tone. "He's dead."

"He cut him down so easily, I will make him pay for that action," General Redline growled as his impressive frame trembled in controlled rage. His metallic fists creaking in protest from how tightly he was clenching them.

"We should kill all his allies. He doesn't know how close we can get," Zero said in a grim tone as icy as Redline's had been fierce.

"Unnecessary," declared a familiar voice from around them. The various monitors shifting to a image of a skull made of code that seem to be regarding them. "All has proceeded as I have required it to."

"Savant, is that you?" Tallyman asked in disbelief.

"The Savant is dead. I am what comes after him, free of my flesh."

The central column that once contained the Savant's brain jar decended into the floor, sending Zero dashing off it. Door opened as various Synthoids marched in towards the open pit. Each as it reach the pit fell apart. Many of these were models from the recent factory output to save Japan. More and more continued to march in and fall to pieces, all rolling into the pit as sparks flash and metal reformed as nanotech was woven into the mass of metal and circuitry. By the time it was seemingly over, a mist was rising from the seeming crucible as a imposing, chromatic frame rose out of it. It flexed its fingers and rolled it neck. The metal of its body flowing easily as the being stepped forward.

"Behold me, for I am Singularity. And I bring the FUTURE!"

It's finally over... but this was still Grace's failure. Everyone keeps telling her it's not, but even Connor might be gone for good. She's going to have to fight to get him back, no doubt. And right now, she's just... numb. Whether that's a normal trauma response, or Connor taking her pain, she doesn't know. Something does feel different in her magic though. It's resonating with something she's wanted for a long time. It's just... doing it in a weird way. As long as the spell is small, the changes seem to happen very little at a time. But they are there. She needs sleep for now. This has been too much. She'll work on getting her life in order tomorrow.

Gary and Veruca are doing a bit better, but the event was still very traumatic, and they're having to watch the suffering Grace puts herself through. She's isolating herself so badly... up until them, it was her and Gander, then recently Connor. She needs more than this. She deserves more support than she's allowing herself. Veruca is considering an intervention at this stage.

"OF ALL THE STUPID, IDIOTIC, DANGEROUS THINGS YOU COULD DO, YOU DECIDED TO SET OFF A DAMN GRENADE IN YOUR HAND?! ARE YOU INSANE NIC?! ARE YOU?!" Ellen's furious shouts filled the room, causing Nic to cringe back in his seat. The older teen had been all smiles as the group had flown back to base, finally being able to morph with the rest of the team making him happier than he had been in a while. That lasted until they had finally got back into base, when Ellen finally exploded into the lecture she had been saving since Nic pulled the grenade's pin. "IF IT HADN'T HAVE WORKED, YOU'D BE A CHARRED SMEAR OF ASH ON THE PAVEMENT! THINK NIC, THINK!"

Something tells me that she is going to be going for a while, Cedric thought to himself as he started to pull up news reports from around the world, sighing at the sheer amount of damage that the shadow creatures had caused. Millions of people were dead and who knew how many more would die in the coming days as fires raged in damaged cities, their team would have to work hard to help out wherever they could in Redwood Cove. The yellow clad teen looked back at the lecture and snorted, taking in the blushing duo of Gina and Corey as well as how Nic was practically over the back of the couch that Ellen had backed him against. Well now, that's certainly interesting.

"Forgot how hot she got when she gets pissed," Corey muttered the words barely loud enough for Gina and Cedric to hear, the younger girl nodding in agreement. He didn't even seem to notice that he had said them out loud.

"AND YOU!" Ellen seems to finish up with her lecture at Nic and twists in a rapid move, pointing and marching up to Corey. "I'm sick of this back-and-forth flirting! As soon as the city is somewhat back to normal, you're taking me out to dinner! Got it?!"

"Yes ma'am!" Cedric looks both scared and excited at the prospect, mentally pumping his arm at not having to make a move himself.

"FREEDOM!" Nic sprints from the base, panic written across his face now that Ellen's focus is off him. "I'll be back later, want to check on my family!"

"I supposed we all had better check on them, need to make sure they know we are alive after all. I suppose we can meet up later to figure out where to go from here, but I hope you will all agree that we should help the city," Cedric finally pulls up the local reports, happy to see that they are being praised for helping keep casualties down.

"I guess so, see you guys later then," Gina looks at her teleporter unit and grins at the full green bar on it before she teleports out of the base.

"Talk later then guys," Ellen finally seems to realize what she had done for the past few minutes and her face erupts into a nuclear blush, quickly teleporting out before anyone could say anything.

Nic smiled as he jogged towards his house, finally having realized his teleporter was charged enough for short range once he was halfway through the forest. He couldn't wait to get home and get some rest, it had been a long first day as a ranger and all he wanted to do was lay down on his bed and sleep. As he got closer, he began to feel uneasy, like something was wrong and he couldn't tell what. It wasn't until he got onto the porch and saw that the front door had been broken in that he felt panic grip his heart and make him freeze. Forcing himself to move forward, he stepped into the house and began to move through it slowly, watching for any sign of the other inhabitants.

"Mom, Dad, Shaun! Come out you guys, everything is over!" He called out, slowly walking up the steps. As he crested the staircase, he felt his heart drop at the sight of the door to his parent's room being broken in. "Come on guys, this isn't funny."

As the young man looked through the cracked and broken doorway, he was barely able to hold himself back from being sick, the first thing he had seen being a puddle of blood with a single arm resting in it. It took a moment, but Nic soon recognized the ring on the finger, one which he had seen his entire life, one that had been run through his hair and held his hand when he was a child, and one which was now coated in drying blood. That was his mother's wedding ring. The next thing he saw, to his growing horror, was a pair of legs attached to nothing, looking to have been cut off jaggedly at the waste as if the torso had been eaten. Dry heaving, he stumbled back from the room, tears streaming down his face as he realized what had happened. It wasn't until he stepped on something and slipped, falling against the wall, that he was able to tear his eyes away. Closing them he drew in a shuddering breath, only to open them and freeze completely once he saw what he had stepped on. The cane which allowed his brother to walk unaided, sat broken in two and half shattered under his feet.
