Kenneth Vano
Fogma Fall's mist made him feel a little nostalgic. It was his first mission where he made his first friend and had seen his first legendary. It was also the first time he lost a partner, but that was history. What mattered right now was how sore he was and the irritating scratches on his face. His body sores felt like they had jagged rocks in them, aching and causing a lot of discomfort. The same with his face. They were too minor for them to be treated as injuries, so the nurse ended up patching up his face with bandages. He hated this kind of feeling since he wasn't use to dealing with this kind of labor. At least compared to taking care of Pokemon, it was rewarding since they were little bodies of happiness.

After he had broken from his stupor, he looked at his surroundings. Everything looked to same to him. Rocks, rocks, more rocks with some scratch marks on them. It made him wonder why people spend their time researching them. At the end of the day, they were just rocks that had interesting in them. Though his partner seemed to have other ideas. He had taken a notice of every little fidget, glance, and jumps she made during their little trip. It was rather ironic that he was thinking that rocks were as dull as they were and yet this girl was practically heads over heels for them. It was rather enviable that she had that much passion for something he regarded so little. Maybe, after this mission, he should research about rocks to see what the fuss was all about.

They made it to the cave where their object laid within. No kind of conversation was made between the two, which made Kenneth feel a little disconnected with his partner. Even though Maya was at first cold and anti-social, they at least talked on their way up Fogma Falls. Maybe he should of willed up the effort to strike a conversation with his older companion. Right now the only thing he knew about her was her name and that she liked rocks. It was a little optimistic for him to get along with everyone, the wench aside, since not every grunt was like Maya in the inside. After this mission, he could probably have a small chat with her.

Finally they had reached the research facility. Then his new partner brought up a good question. "Yo, Kenneth was it? You know what was the plan right?" Initiating a conversation before they had arrived here seem like a really good idea right now. Before he could open his mouth, the women made a comment and left to survey the area. Thus leaving him alone with his thoughts. If he was the wench, what would she do... Then again, he only knew the wench for approximately a few hours before never seeing her ever again. With a sigh, he patiently waited for Reese to come back from her scouting. When she did, and told her about her findings, he just shrugged.

"Sounds like a plan to me." Kenneth simply said. The only problem with trying to find a backdoor was, it might be locked. Unless the door knob was made out of iron, for whatever reason, he didn't have any means to open the door. And no kind of idiot would just leave their backdoor conveniently unlocked, that would just practice bad safety habits. Though whatever happened, they would just have to improvise. Kenneth waited patiently for Reese to lead, since she at least knew where to go, them to around the building to get to the backdoor.

~Nacreous Glacier Chasm Team ~

As Micah, Ben, and Eric found eachother inside the pokecenter, the nurse joy smiled happily at the reunion.

"Great. You make friends. First rule of glacier is strong friends. Then have something to eat when trip goes bad. Is joke. Wait. Ben? Huh."

Nurse joy turned to leave, leaving Eric and Micah together before they could head off, Nurse joy picking up the phone.

Whenever it was they turned to leaf, they would find two police officers at the exit. One with pachirusu on its shoulder.

"Yes, we've got a warrant for Benjamin "Ben" Spencer Junior. You're wanted for claims of indecent exposure in Arcus. Pachurisu, nuzzle."

And with that, a happy squirrel was over the boy, sparks flying as the paralysis set in. The officers nodded to Micah and Eric as they handcuffed the boy. "You two have a nice night. Stay warm."

With that bizarre parting out the way, Nurse Joy approached again.

"Rooms upstairs for trainers. Warm blankets. I sleep with window open. Is nice. Should try. Pokemart is next door if want supplies. Careful in Glaciers, you should avoid Chasm, is dangerous. Wild Kyurem, is not nice. Also Wild Articuno. Is less nice. Should be more nice in a month. Til then, avoid like plague. Some caves north. Here is a local guide."

She handed them a 'welcome to Nacreousville' pamphlet, outlining the habitats of local pokemon, the mountains, and where to buy hiking gear or the like. Nacreousville was special. Short of Arceus himself, every ice type pokemon in the world could be found in some manner on the snow covered biome. Even some outliers like Greninja and Kecleon could be found in some of the warmer mountain tops in the sun.

-----------------------------------------

The next morning, the reason people still lived in the outpost of Nacreousville became evident. Sparkling with the sun, the white plains almost seemed to be filled with diamonds, earning the title 'diamond dust'. The snow was dry and fluffy, perfect for sports, though a little less perfect for walking. The night before it had snowed heavily, but the hardy people of the town had already cut out paths through it, even leading out of the town. The trail down the chasm was surprisingly doable.

Approaching it, Micah would be able to see sheered rock from the night below where Iris had fallen. The trail swinub had used was still there, leading down into a massive chasm. Only approaching from the side would one be able to appreciate how massive the chasm was. Seemingly infinite in it split in both directions, it was like a massive scar upon the land. Both sides of the chasm were comprised of both earth and ice, making it dangerous as the ice cracked the stone away, occasionally causing fall ins like what had happened earlier. They also formed numerous caves below. The swinub had found a good path. Both trainers would have to leave the warm of the sun to enter the cold mist below.

In the distance, a bright light could be seen in the fog, along with the hum of a generator, the first sign of blackleaf activity. The generator seemed to float belowthem, but continuing the path would reveal, nearly 1,500 feet down from the top, the bottom of the chasm, a smooth ice path, broken just enough to be walkable. Large foot prints could be seen cracking the ice in the direction away.

As Damon fell in the web, the entire thing bounced like a trampoline to welcome him, sticking to clothes, and having an iron grip all around. However, having not struggled yet, the web was loose enough to be pliable, and moved or cut, or burnt.

Above him, a red light in the darkness glowed, then another, and another. Slowly, several orbs lit up. Then blinked. The web sagged as yellow feet began to look walk towards him on it: Garvantula. A yawn was heard behind him as in the web Swablu woke up. It chirped happy as can be in the web, and waved at Damon with its wing floating at Damon. Then at Garvantula. Garvantula jumped back, literally out of its skin as it molted, skittering and climbing out the way as Swablu whistled and waved. Swablu shrugged, and began to flap upwards, only for it to get more and more entangled.

The fourth member in the webbing was no more help as he bucked and cried through a gag of spider web. He did not look happy, half cocooned with webbing over much of his face, patches over one eye, bridge of his nose, and over his mouth. He was hogtied, limbs bound, but the webbing wasn't complete, as if something had interupted the garvantula before it could finish its meal. Swablu, of course, waved and whistled at him too.

Above, Mareep's giggling and baying stopped, and its eyes looked more and more confused as it surveyed below. Damon was in a bind, true, but, it was less... electrocutey than the pokemon had thought. Garvatula wasn't doing anything. Its eyes then widened, and Mareep turned tail to run. At the bottom of the trap, below the webbing, below Damon, dozens and dozens of unconscious Joltic lay twitching on the ground, most of them directly underneath the now humming swablu. Swablu waved at Mareep too.

Garvantula had a different reaction, leaping out of its own home, glancing back inside once more before turning to the trainers, and giving a cry.

It began to spray out a cage of webbing around the area, cutting off mareep's escape route, as well as boxing in Ianthe and Akira. It looked ready to fight, but the current trap was taking its attention. Spider Web

Ruins Team
As the pair crept forward, the researchers would finally come into view. Taking notes and measurements they were far more focused on the cluster of Kabuto resting on the shore beside the camp. ”I don't get it,” the male researcher sighed, ”they're really no different from the ones found back in Kanto.” His partner only shrugged, setting her notebook down on a small table.

Something plodded past the two grunts. Blue and grey, the bipedal Pokemon only stood a couple of feet tall. A Cranidos. It blinked lazily at them before nudging Reese’s backpack and giving a small cry. The researchers paused, looking in the direction of the sound. The woman chuckled, ”sounds like your friend found you.”

He pinched the bridge of his nose with a groan, standing back up. ”Thought I finally lost it…”

”Shouldn't have fed it~!” Her tone practically oozed ‘I told you so.’ Cranidos turned towards the researcher’s voices, giving another cry as it ran over towards them.

With the researchers distracted for a few minutes, it would be plenty easy to sneak around to the backside of their small building. Which looked more like a shipping container than a building for pokemon research. Unfortunately for the grunts, there wasn’t a backdoor for them to sneak into.

They wouldn’t need to wait around long for another distraction to come their way. The entire camp paused as a shrill scream resounded from a nearby tunnel. Fluttering could be heard as several Zubat fled the tunnel in search of a safer roost and the nearby Kabuto scuttled back into the underground lake to hide. The pair of researchers looked at each other for a brief moment before sprinting down the tunnel to see what was going on.

There’s no real way to know how much time luck had bought them. But a search would find what small tables sat outside were covered in various instruments, none of them were the tool they’d been sent to find. The building would be their best chance, but the only door was locked tight.

Cranidos gave another lazy cry before plodding back over to Reese and biting at her backpack.

Micah looked about as another guy approached them, asking for both him and Ben. Before Micah could get a chance to talk to him or even get acquainted with his teammates, Nurse Joy went off and said some words into a phone. Almost immediately, two officers stepped through the doors of the Pokemon Center and immediately went after Ben. Despite the alarming nature of the situation, Micah couldn't help but smile as Gemma began laughing hysterically when the officer's Pachirisu took the boy down and he was taken away. He took a moment to nod at the officers and step out of their way as they walked away. "Well, that's unfortunate," Micah said, still trying to contain his laughter. When Nurse Joy approached and offered rooms, advice, and pamphlets, Micah felt slightly overwhelmed but very grateful. There was something a little funny about such a large, muscular woman acting so motherly toward the two trainers; it was quite an endearing sight. "Thank you so much, Nurse Joy! We'll do our best to stay safe," Micah replied happily as he took the pamphlet from her hands. Redgie moved over to Nurse Joy and softly poked at her leg and jumped up and down, doing his best to thank the massive woman.

With that, Micah turned to face Eric with a slightly nervous smile on his face, still trying to process what had happened. "I'm guessing you're Eric then. It's really nice to meet you! These two troublemakers are Redgie and Gemma," Micah said happily as he pointed to his Honedge and Sableye respectively. "It's getting late, so we should probably head out tomorrow and stay in for the night. I'm gonna go out and do a bit of shopping beforehand, just to be prepared for tomorrow's mission!" Micah smiled at Eric and turned toward his Pokemon. "You two, back in your balls." Despite their loud complaints, both Redgie and Gemma eventually relented and allowed Micah to lightly tap his Pokeballs and draw them in. He waved goodbye to Eric before heading out into the cold night air. Once outside, Micah immediately made his way into the Pokemart next door and stopped next to the door once inside. Pulling out the pamphlet Nurse Joy had so generously gifted them, Micah eyed the different sections it had; he was particularly interested in the habitats of Pokemon and a place to buy hiking supplies. Once he'd read through what he'd been looking for, Micah put the pamphlet away and stepped up to the counter to make his purchases with a friendly smile on his face.

Micah quickly made his purchases: eight Pokeballs, three Potions, one Super Potion, two Ice Heals, and an Escape Rope. Once that was taken care of, he stepped outside and walked over to the shop which the pamphlet indicated sold hiking equipment. Inside, Micah bought himself a jacket, hiking boots made for the icy terrain, a map with a compass, and an ice ax. With all his purchases complete, Micah made his way back to the Pokemon Center, wearing his new jacket to avoid the biting cold of Nacreousville. Despite the Pokemon in the area and the beautiful landscape, Micah was hard-pressed to find a reason to ever want to live in that place; it was just too cold. Luckily for him, the jacket he bought was enough to keep him at a reasonable temperature. Once in the Pokemon Center, Micah made his way up to where Nurse Joy indicated his room was and fell asleep rather quickly. As the sun rose over the horizon and covered Nacreousville in the smooth morning light, Micah was woken up by the sounds of people beginning to go about their day. He groggily got dressed, put on his jacket, slung his backpack onto his back, put on his hiking boots, and walked down.

"Good morning, Eric! Ready to get going?" Despite the tiredness in his voice, Micah still sounded as excited as ever, especially after he got another look at the list of Pokemon that exist in the Glacier. He grabbed a quick bite to eat before bolting for the door, turning around briefly to say goodbye to Nurse Joy. "Goodbye, Miss! Thanks for everything!" With a wave and a wide grin on his face, Micah pushed through the door and into the cold exterior of Nacreousville. The sight that greeted him outside was simply breathtaking. Micah already assumed that the glacier and its surroundings were beautiful, but seeing this so-called diamond dust was almost otherworldly. Looking around, Micah noticed that there was a good amount of snow covering the ground, but there were also several paths carved out by those who'd awoken before him. Carefully, yet quickly, Micah made his way down the path to the Nacreous Glacier Chasm; it was surprisingly easy to traverse, made considerably easier by the boots he'd purchased the night before. He peered down to where Iris had fallen, seeing nothing of interest there (other than cold). With a sigh, Micah turned to look around and found the path that the Swinub had carved out the day before.

"Looks like some of our 'friends' here have made a path for us," Micah pointed out to Eric. "Here goes nothing." As Micah looked at the massive chasm, he felt a bit of a knot in his throat. He wasn't necessarily afraid of heights, but they did make him somewhat uncomfortable. Stepping out of the sun and into the biting cold, Micah zipped up his new jacket up to his neck; he didn't quite feel warm, but he wasn't cold either. Carefully walking through the icy terrain of the chasm, Micah suddenly stopped when he spotted a bright light far away. "Careful, we don't know who that is," Micah whispered. Despite his cautious words, Micah walked forward a bit too quickly until the generator was in full view, at which point he actually took his own words seriously. "We got company!"

ᴀᴋɪʀᴀ ᴛᴀɪᴅᴀɴᴀ
There was a snoring Petilil on her head. There was a fucking sleeping pokemon on her head. She already had one pokemon asleep on her shoulder, she did not need a second one. Especially not on her head! "This is fucking ridiculous..." she grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest as she watched Damon amble forward. The vindictive part of her hoped he tripped and went in head first. As if the Petilil could sense her thoughts, it shifted slightly, causing her hoodie to fall forward a bit, so some more of the fabric was falling into her eyes. "Fucking ridiculous."

At the shout that escaped Damon after he went to investigate the pit, she moved closer with Ianthe, curious, but a small part of her hoping he'd gotten himself stuck. Akira couldn't help the smirk that graced her features at the sound of the struggling man. It soon fell away as she took in the rest of the situation and cursed loudly. The Mareep had been giggling until now and was suddenly trying to run away and there was a rustling below them. She cursed again, hurriedly reaching up to pick up Ren off of her head so they didn't fall off when she spun around following the path of the Galvantula as it jumped up and joined them.

"You fucking brat..." she cursed at the Mareep seeing as it had led them to this trap. At least it was trapped with them, she huffed. "We have a problem guys....Ianthe, keep trying to get Damon out of there."

Akira shifted Ren onto her unoccupied shoulder and scooped up Aria in her hands, causing the Pichu to fully wake up as it had been slowly startled awake by the noise going on around them. Luc was crouched low in front of her, snarling at the pokemon that was trying to trap them, and Akira appreciated her partner's protectiveness.

"Come on Ri, do me a solid here..." she whispered, gently poking the pichu in the stomach as she yawned cutely, stretching as if she had all the time in the world. It took a moment, and Akira winced at the wasted time, but the second she noticed Aria properly awake, she sighed in relief and prayed to whatever deity was watching that this would work.

"Okay kid, look here." she started. "This is a very bad situation and I need you to listen and do exactly as I say, alright?" The pichu nodded in response, blinking it's wide eyes, not fully understanding what was going on. "Stay close to me, don't stray away from me or Luc, got it?" she asked, and the second that the small pokemon nodded, she continued. "Ri, use Sweet Kiss on the Galvantula."

Ri nodded again, chirping happily, not realizing this was a dangerous situation. It was completely different from what she'd gone through earlier in regards to danger, so she wasn't really sure what Akira was so tense about. But she was asked to help! She liked to help, and she was asked to stay near the two beings that she recognized, so it didn't seem to bad whatever they were asking. Turning around in Akira's hands so she could actually see the larger pokemon spitting out web, Ri tilted her head, wondering why it was doing such a thing before shrugging.

"Pichuuuu!" she called out, excitedly. Moving quickly, she blew a kiss at the Galvantula, smiling as a pink heart went sailing towards it. "Piiiiichu pii!" she chirped.

Reese Williams

"Nothing? Nothing at all?" she inquired, somewhat upset by his tone.

Reese lipped curled up in obvious disdain at the boy lack of enthusiasm, his response leaving much to be desired. Although, it was true she couldn't give a ratatata's ass about the mission itself, she at least was willing to put more thought and effort into it. After all, this was a job with pretty decent pay, so she'd like to show her employers that she was at least somewhat competent despite her resume severely lacking in "criminal" department. Now that she thought back on it, she had to admit that Blackleaf's recruitment department did have some shady business practices, then again they were an illegal organization, so what had she expected? Her brows furrowed while looking down at her feet, her mind getting completely off track as she began looking at Blackleaf from a business standpoint. However, a sudden nudge from behind brought her back, causing her to release a small yelp that she somehow managed to contain in her hands. Had she actually screamed, she was sure they'd find their position, leading to the worst case scenario. Looking to see if Kenneth was playing a trick on her, she turned her gaze to his position, the glasses boy in the same spot as he was before her thoughts ran wild. So if he was there, then what was behind her?

Sweat dripped down her brow as she slowly turned around to see who her mystery assailant was, an all too familiar cry causing her to yelp once more, but this time in pure excitement. She knew that sound anywhere. Turning her head around, she saw it. Two large beady red eyes staring back at her, nonchalantly nudging her bag as if to notify her of its presence. It was a Cranidos, a big grey beautiful Cranidos. Reese nearly lost it, every cell in her body urging her to hug the cute living fossil that had clearly wanted her attention. Reese. Calm down. You have a mission. You can do this. Don't look at it. Just ... don't, she told herself, her hands twitching as she held it against her side. Oh, why of all places they had to send her to this wonderland? Surely they had someone better suited for this then her. Biting her bottom lip, she gave in to the slight urge to pet it, her face turning a bright red as she allowed herself to wallow in the coolness of the pokemon's dome-shaped head. She only basked in it's presence for a few seconds before realizing that its cry had distracted the two scientist, buying them enough time to sneak into the back of the building.

"Thanks lil' buddy." she whispered as she gave the Cranidos a thumbs up, the pokemon tilting it's head as Reese turned back to her companion.

"It seems like this lil' guy's call got the attention of the two in the front. It would probably be in our best interest to make our way to the back now." she stated, before motioning Kenneth into following her behind a few of the ruin walls that remained standing. The trip was relatively short, but it seemed that luck was not on her side today as they were greeted by dirtied white walls with no door in sight. She scrunched her forehead in annoyance, looking at Kenneth who she hoped felt somewhat annoyed by their current situation. At least then, she was sure that he cared about the mission at hand, even if he didn't particularly want to be there.

"Damn. There isn't a back to this thing." she grumbled, touching the walls to see if there was any opening she could have been missing. Nope, there was nothing back there. Not even a plot convenient air duct that she'd hope would be waiting for their arrival.

"Well, this was a failure. I guess we're gonna have to do this the ha-" suddenly the shrill screams she could only assume belonged to a colony of Zubats could be heard in the direction of the entrance. What in the world? Turning away from Kenneth, she looked to see the scientists sprinting away from the main entrance of the research facility. A smile graced her lips while thinking that the timing of all this couldn't have been more perfect.

"Guess we can still do this in incognito." she chirped.

Soon, she motioned Kenneth once again to follow her to the front, a pebble falling into her shoe as they made their way towards the building's entrance. The rock planted itself at the heel of her foot, each step bringing about a small amount of pain and annoyance to the pink haired woman. As much as she wanted to remove it, she wasn't sure how much time they had before the two scientist returned, so sadly, she would just have to deal with it. Examining the entrance, Reese saw tools sprawled out across the a multitude of tables, but none of them were the items that they were searching for. She heaved a sigh, nothing could ever be that easy for her, could it? If it wasn't outside, then it was obviously inside the building, which made the most sense seeing how highly valued this thing supposedly was. Looking at the door, she went for the simply approach and tried opening it to no prevail. It was locked, pretty securely at that. Turning to her partner she asked him a question.

"Yo, you don't perchance got any skills that would allow you to open this thing now would you?" she questioned, hoping he'd be more than dead weight. Initially, she had been joking about doing so, but if Kenneth didn't put forth any effort she was seriously considering using him as bait. Awaiting for his answer, Reese jerked back, something pulling her backwards nearly causing her to fall down. She managed to catch herself, but her left heel throbbed in pain, the pebble digging deeper into her skin. A tear slid down her cheek as she spun around to see the same Cranidos from earlier gnawing away at her bag. The surge of anger was replaced by a wave of pure bliss, her angel returning to her side yet again. Maybe this was meant to be, she wondered while it continued chewing away at her backpack. If it was still here after the job, Reese promised she'd catch the little cutie before they left. Now, however, was not the time nor the place. Now was the time to figure out how the hell to get through this damned door.

Oooookay, so the rod wasn't a good idea, Ianthe thought, her eyes widening as the Galvantula jumped over her and Akira's heads to block off their escape. She quickly went to put the item away, listening to a familiar whistle from inside the webbed pit. Was that...?

"We have a problem guys....Ianthe, keep trying to get Damon out of there."

Ianthe was already on it. She didn't have much time to check on the noise from the pit with the giant spider Pokémon in front of them, however. "Mareep! Get behind us." Her voice was contrasting Akira's curses at the Pokémon, but Ianthe wouldn't dare be mean in this situation. "Damon, see if you can spot our Castform friend while you're down there! And what move does Ren know?" Grass-types would at least be helpful in getting rid of the webbing...speaking of--

"Nymphie!

Nymph, of course, was glued to Ianthe's head, shivering in fear of the bigger Pokémon in front of them. Ianthe sighed, slightly out of irritation and mostly out of having expecting such a reaction. The poor thing was scared to bits of bigger Pokémon after that whole Toucannon incident...however, they really needed to get to work.

"Nymphie, please, our friend is stuck. Can you please help us?" The sternness in her voice was enough, and Nymph turned towards the pit, feeling quite better as she didn't have to face the Galvantula. Thank Arceus, Ianthe thought with a minor trace of bitterness. They would definitely need to work on her anxiety once they got out of this predicament.

"Alright, Nymph, please use Razor Leaf on those webs down there!

"Ri, use Sweet Kiss on the Galvantula."

Nymph's petals began to glow purple before she whipped her head at the webbing, sending sharp-edged purple leaves towards it, while Akira's new Pichu sent a rose-colored kiss shape towards the Galvantula.

It was that moment that Ianthe recognized the voice of the Pokémon below with Damon. Was that a Swablu? What move could it have to help them? Since Nymph was handling the webs, and maybe Ren would help too, what could Swablu do....?

With such a melodic voice, maybe it knew Sing. That could be super helpful in the moment. It was a leap of an idea, honestly, but maybe, just maybe, it could calm this Galvantula down. But they had to get it free first.

Fliathri felt like his chest had caved in, it took several moans before he managed to open his eyes and sit straight up, coughing water from his lungs. He'd never been in a deluge like that, and with any luck, he'd never be in another one again. He still coughing minutes later as he looked around. It looked like a vast garden. Fliathri had to admit, he did like the decor, but couldn't quite appreciate it as he coughed out his left lung, a pile of water hitting the ground.... and a tinge of red.

"Dangle thingumbob, think I may have ruptured a bronchia...."

There was one thing they didn't tell you about coughing that badly, made one hell of a headache. However, looking to his side, it seemed like Fliathri had more pressing concerns.

"My Queen!"

Himiko lay next to him rather still and, well, she was always blue, but definitely seem bluer. Fliathri attended to her near-instantly, leaving his cane behind as he made his way over. "Damnations, you'd better not be messing with me once more. Your pranks are quite cruel my queen."

Poking her, and still having his fingers, Fliathri was pretty sure she wasn't acting at the very least. With a few chest compressions came what Fliathri swore was several gallon's worth of water.

"Water out is good. Keep going my queen. Blasted eggshells. I swear if we return henceforth to that Glade, it shall be with bottle, cloth, and oil. Kill them all, let Arceus sort them out."

Himiko still wasn't looking good, and Fliathri cursed. Well... there was only one CPR thing left he knew to do.

It was rather unfortunate Himiko chose that exact moment to open her eyes.

-----------------

Several minutes later, Fliathri was attending his new cuts, and finally getting the chance to see what was around him. The garden was vast, and beautiful, but definitely wasn't made by human hands. Why, to the human eyes, there was no sense to it. It was beautiful, sure, but the amount of Faux pas here was just curious. Prim Roses next to Plumerias? While it was pretty, the fragrance was to strong. Oh, and there was also the fact there was a cliff behind him thousands of feet in the air.

"My queen, quite the mess we've got ourself into. I don't know where we are, and I was sure I knew every corner of Vera Valle. I didn't know "

An annoyed mew sounded off next to him, with Himiko's arms crossed.

"My queen, tis just a misunderstanding. I wouldn't want thee to drown. I said I was sorry. What more could we want?"

At least she'd stopped attacking him. It was then he noticed something. His satchel was moving. He sighed, but turned as if he didn't acknowledge it.

"Himiko."

She jumped at the use of her name.

"It seems we have a thief in our wares."

Himiko instantly lept up, and dived at the bag, tackling it off the cliff, and laughing as she watched it fall.

"My queen, while I do applaud the taking care of the thief, I would also like to notify you that that was our wares. In your lingo, 'our stuff'."

A troubled look crossed Himiko's eyes, looking at the cliff, then back to Fliathri, then back at the cliff. Fliathri caught her middive by the foot with his cane, leaving her dangling off the side of the cliff, raising an eyebrow.

"There was nothing of value in that."

Himiko started struggling, before pantomiming a ball shape, with much screeching, then blowing ice over her claws.

"Ball... ice cold... Thou hast stolen some of Maya's pokeballs? Rapscallion, she's our ally! And what's more our peer. I would care far less if you were to aim at say, Sir Wolfe or another pokemon. Oh well. It is long gone. Tally ho."

With a sudden pull, Himiko went flying back on the side of the cliff... and then the flaps of wings could be heard. Fliathri turned to see his bag flying in the air, with two wings sprouting out of it. A vicious biting could be heard. Fliathri's cane flew out, and ripped off the bag, leaving a noibat flying in the air, looking disappointed.

" I believe this one is Maya's little gremlin. Searching for berries? I apologize, but no such luck, I subsist entirely off of tea, energy bars, and shots of a brand they call '5 hour energy'. My queen here prefers to hunt, she likes to keep up the feral instincts within her. I do keep some jerky for rations though. Hmmm..."

Fliathri stared off the abyss that was the cliff, and noticed it was moving.

"I do believe I know where we are. Gremlin, I fear to tell you this, but we are stuck on Sky Island. Stick with us in the meanwhile, and you’ll at least be safe. Hmm… and I do believe this island will contain many of your favored food. My, my, this is so invigorating. I’ve never been here. Almost no resident of Vera Valle has found there way up. Think of the discovers one could make. Think of the treasure.”

At the word treasure, Himiko jumped, and Fliathri had to restrain her from moving. She was, completely on board. Fliathri turned to the little Noibat.

“So, gremlin, what do you say? Come with us and partake of the harvest of berries and other loot here? And an eventual return to your master.”

All it took was the mention of berries for the Noibat to let out an energetic string of chirps and latch onto Fliathri’s back.

Kenneth Vano
Reese seemed to be displeased by his response, which in turn caused him to frown as well. She much more serious than he was in this mission. While he did act respectfully to the Blackleaf Admin, he mainly did it just to get on their good side. Then again this was her first mission, so it was necessary for her to be serious in this situation. A blue and grey thing caught his eye as he saw movement in the corner of his eye. A Pokemon, most likely a prehistoric Pokemon, had run up and bit Reese's backpack. Kenneth just stared at the Head Butt Pokemon as it continued to nudge Reese's backpack. Reese's yelp brought a smile on his face though, it was kind of amusing.

"Wow, I didn't know fossil Pokemon were this friendly." Kenneth chuckled at Reese's silent freak out. He thought that fossil Pokemon were more hostile than your average wild Pokemon, it was apparent that he thought wrong. That being said they needed to get back to the mission, so that he can go rest on his rock hard bed. An idea fitted through his tired mind. Maybe he could ask to switch beds with Reese, she loved rocks didn't she? Back onto the mission, they needed to get into the lab. After Reese had came back from her dream, filled with rocks, she motioned him forward. He nodded and followed suit. Apparently, the scientists were distracted by Reese's little friend. "What a stroke of luck." Kenneth murmured to himself.

Though their luck seemed to end there as they surveyed the building. No back opening or any air duct that Reese hoped for. Before Kenneth could voice his disappointed opinion to go along with Reese's, he jumped when screams echoed throughout the cave. Mainly the zubats that have lived in these caves for many years. Kenneth whistled, "Wow, we are really lucky."

Now at the entrance of the door, Kenneth examined it. He presumed that Reese didn't find anything of use to open the door with, seeing that she had a disappointed on her face again. He perked up when Reese addressed him. "Maybe, I'm just a ranch boy." He casually just said with a shrug. Taking out Milutin's Pokeball, he released the magnet Pokemon. "I'm not too good with this kind of stuff, but at the very least I'll try." He looked over the floating magnet Pokemon. "Milutin, do me the pleasure of pulling the door knob out of place." The Magnet Pokemon merely shifted its magnet's forward and attempted to pull the door knob. He turned back to Reese. "I honestly don't know if that'll work." He said. Kenneth did a little research on Magnemite and it was said they could pull Iron from 300 feet away. While he didn't know if it was true, he knew for sure he didn't know the properties of a door knob. Whether was magnetic or not was left to be seen.

"Anyway, if this doesn't work, we'll have to ram the door." Kenneth said. He looked down to the Cranidos. "I think your friend might help us a lot in that endeavor." After all, just by looking at the Pokemon, he could tell that it bashes things with its head a lot.

Damon eyed the molting of Galvantula's with confusion. He couldn't figure why it'd be so afraid of the friendly little Swablu. The Swablu didn't seem to really grasp the danger it was in, but at least it seemed to be having fun. Damon would have to make sure it got out of here alive.....along with himself of course. This was no place for his journey to end.

He yelled up to Ianthe in response to her question, while trying to free his hands carefully. "She only knows Absorb and Ingrain, so she can help leech down that Galvantula slowly probably!" Suddenly he found his hands free.....and the rest of him. For a second he was surprised and joyful.....then he fell three feet and slammed his shoulder into the ground. He was...less joyful for that.

He stood up slowly, the webbing falling away from his body in places, and looked around for the Swablu and the other human shaped mass. He spotted the Swablu shaking it's way free as well, happy as can be, and a large, slightly less wrapped up person wriggling about out of apparent fear. At first Damon didn't understand why, until he turned around and saw the vague forms and eyes of numerous Joltik.

He jumped back from them, reaching into his bag with his good arm and pulling out one of his emergency flares. He sure hoped this worked. Pointing it at the gathering Joltik, he fired a flare. The flash blinded him momentarily. However as his vision returned he saw, with a sigh of relief, that the Joltik scattered back and away from the flare. They seemed fascinated by the light, but disturbed by the heat. Truly fascinating, he wondered wh- oh right, not the time.

Running over to the tied up individual, he began to tear away at the webbing where the Razor Leaf had left uneven holes. It was difficult work even with the tears in it. Especially given his arm, though thankfully adrenaline had numbed the pain for now. After a moment the Swablu also joined in, joyously pecking at the wrapped individual. Damon was equal parts amused and glad for the help. "Ianthe, if you can we could really use a way out of here! I only have two flares left to keep these Joltik away!"

The blue-haired trainer flashed a grin and strode over to where Ben and Micah had been speaking with Nurse Joy. Eric only cast her a glance, her pin marked her as Blackleaf. The last time he was in Narcreousville, he’d attempted to bring her down himself. The effort earned him a broken nose via chucked pokeball.

Nurse or not, she had one hell of a throwing arm.

He and Freja both watched the nurse stride away abruptly. She was one of the few nurses in this part of the region, her job was important. Not irreplaceable but damn near it. Since she hadn’t done anything actually illegal, the police weren’t about to do anything just for a pin. Speaking of, he didn’t get much of a chance to say anything before a pair of police officers strode inside. Eric tensed, watching them closely. What now?

In just a few seconds, Ben was on the floor, arrested, and dragged back outside. Eric blinked dumbly, “What the hell…?” He could feel Freja’s aura shift, mirroring his exact thought. At least Micah didn’t seem too phased by the entire affair, Eric could only shrug. Nurse Joy reappeared, giving them information. ”I don’t think we need to stay- ack!” The blue-haired trainer barely ducked an incoming pokeball. ”Come on, lady!” He called after her as Micah thanked her for the info.

Shaking his head, he turned back to his teammate and flashed another grin. It seemed thanks to the chaos with Ben, they’d forgotten to even introduce themselves. ”Yeah, that’s me.” Eric gestured to the Riolu still standing beside him, ”And that’s Freja.” Having deposited her trainer’s jacket and bag at his feet, Freja gave a short bow. She tilted her head slightly, Gemma was a pokemon she recognized. But the one introduced as Reggie… she hadn’t the slightest idea. It looked a lot like one of the weapons used in the show Eric always seemed to be watching.

With Micah gone, Eric returned to his room and flopped into bed with a huff. Blackleaf was out there doing Arceus knows what in the glaciers, and they’re piddling around at the pokemon center. ”We should be out there, not wasting more time!” Freja shrugged, before returning to her meditations and gesturing for him to do the same. He sighed but sat up anyway.

It had taken him years to learn how feel the auras of others. He’d heard stories of people that could harness their aura much like their Lucario partners. Sensing someone’s presence or intention, forming barriers, or augmenting their strength were just some of the things these heroes of eld were supposedly capable of. But the most he could do was sense if others were nearby, and even then if he focused. Freja was the only one he could feel passively, to the point they could understand each other wordlessly. But some days he couldn’t help but wonder how much of that was her doing and not his own work.

As the following morning rolled around and Micah stumbled back out into the lobby, Eric offered him a wave. Unlike his teammate, it seemed the blue-haired trainer was already wide awake. He used to hate having a pokemon that always insisted on being up with the sun, but now? He was just kind of used to it. ”More than ready,” he jumped to his feet before motioning to a small side area. ”Breakfast isn’t anything special, but it’s hot at least.”

Despite having pointed out where breakfast was, Eric fidgeted as he waited. Even pacing slightly while resteeping his thermos of tea.

He’d been up a little while now.

Even though this hadn’t been his first trip to this section of the region, Narcrousville’s diamond dust was still breathtaking. It wasn’t winter and the weather had still managed such a sheer amount of snow on them. Could the residents here even leave their homes in the winter? Was the entire town connected with underground tunnels for when they were snowed in? That’d be pretty awesome now that he thought about it.

While the light, powdery snow sucked for walking through if you were cutting a new path, it packed down fairly well. Making it great for… Freja gave an undignified yelp as a snowball struck the back of her head. Eric doubled over laughing, ”Oh man, I can’t believe I actually got you.” His revelry was shortlived as the Riolu turned towards him.

Turns out force palm can move a massive amount of snow in one hit.

The rest of their journey proved to be uneventful, all things considered. It was beautiful, and it was bitterly cold as they disappeared down into the chasm. Eric gave a low whistle as it became apparent just how tall the cliffs were. He scoffed at Micah’s warning, ”I think it’s obvious.” Despite that, he took a slow breath and brought a hand in front of his face, his thumb, ring, and little finger curled in while the remaining two stayed straight.

Crimson eyes had turned blue as they snapped back open, the trainer now staring intently down the path. He could feel Freja beam next to him, as if to say You’re learning!. ” There are at least two people down that way.” Eric’s eyes had returned to normal as he sprang forward, snatching the ice ax off of Micah’s backpack before racing down the path.

Freja flailed as she ran after him, the air around her buzzing to him. You’re not learning!

As the generator came into view, Eric realized he’d slightly misjudged the size of the generator. By a few orders of magnitude. The thing was massive, easily the size of a small trailer. Well I wanted to bash some heads in anyway, they could figure out the generator later. Throwing the ax as hard as he could, the blade managed to bite into the metal casing. Likely not enough to do any real damage, but enough to make the grunts whip around.

Eric wasn’t going to leave them with time to do anything if he could help it. He lunged with a haymaker at the closest grunt’s stomach, following with a hammer fist strike to the side of their head should the first hit connect. Freja sprang off his shoulder, bringing a force palm down on the next grunt.

The Galvantula continued making its cage of webbing around the area, creating a large, literal sphere of the stuff, held by stiffer joints of webbing, making the cage stand at a hemisphere. It looked at Pichu curiously, as if debating if it could fit its entire head inside its maw before the sweet little creature blew it a kiss, the glittering hearts hitting with perfect accuracy. It blinked a minute, then blinked again, its expression unchanging. It had been so confused by today's events at this point that that was its default expression. However, the attack did affect it a great deal as it tried next to aim a small shock at the creature, only for it to overload.

A large burst of electricity shot out, threatening to shock everything, and everyone nearby. Especially poor Galvantula, who teetered back and forth seeing stars from the blow.

Mareep neighed annoyed, its wool poofing out in a sudden puff, more than doubling its size. Another flurry of orbs burns off any webs near it, and revealing its eyes again, burning off the wool covering its face, though it still looked like an orb of wool.

The hole, safe from the shocks as various other webs took the hit for the residents, was much safer.

Swablu merrily fluttered around with its newborn freedom, before deciding it wanted somewhere to roost, choosing Damon as its spot. Webs could be felt on his forehead, before gluing the bird to him as a now very hard to remove hat. Swablu wiggled a bit, trying to get free, but seeing the hair pulled, shrugged, and snuggled in, whistling a happy tune. An occasional eerie sound came through, like nails on the chalkboard, almost soul-rending to hear. They were very seldom though. It was mostly happy tune one could imagine any princess singing from a tower. Just with an occasion horribly missed note.

The joltiks continued to be mesmorized by the flare, but as Swablu started to sing, they scurried away in mass, leaving scratch marks and literally climbing over eachother to get out of there.

Above, a swarm of yellow flooded out the hole, briefly interupting the fight as they left through small openings in the webcage, unimpeded due to their small size. There wasn't one joltik below, but closer to a thousand.

The Blackleaf grunt was literally crying as Nymph and Damon cut him free.

"Y-you're saving me! Thanks man. This was scary as hell. Just doing a job, stupid sheep goads me this way, then I fall into a hole, get zapped some and then I wake up cocooned like some horror show gone wrong. That stupid spider was gunna eat me! Then, then that bird! It came down, landed on the spider's head like a hat, and suddenly everything passed out in here. I-it was great. Oh, I'm Zeth be tee dubs. You, bro?"

Castform wasn't on his person's, though he had a pokeball belt to his side, three balls in place. One with a sandstorm on the side, one with a pretty glitter design, and one with a raincloud, and an official information stamp on the back.

As the ax hit, a burst of sparks and a boom could be heard as the floodlights above the pair disappeared, the last view they showed being about 3 blackleaf grunts looking back in surprise, their pin's shining against the sparks. They were all turned to look at Eric before it went dark, giving Micah time to do as he wanted. Without lights, there was a bit of natural light from above in the rift, but fog prevailed.

"Who the hell throws a hatchet? You coulda hurt someone kid. Wait... did you punch... oh no."

The haymaker seemed to hit a wall of pure muscle, absorbing the hit as well as sand. A burst of abrupt laughter could be heard.

"Chooooke...." Muscles clamped around Eric's arm and leg, lifting him up in the air with meaty hands wrapped around them. It allowed the owner and Eric to both get a good look at eachother. A hulking Machoke currently held him dangling in the air, looking curiously at him to identify what type of pokemon was hitting him. Seeing a human, it laughed heartily and dropped Eric on the ground. Laughing again, it stooped to the man, and motioned to the side of its face, as if to say 'hit me'. His smug face dared Eric.

Freya, the smart one of the two, might note that Machoke was currently glowing red, biding its time.

The blackleaf grunts didn't wait long.

"Get the damn light back on before she shows up. Voltorb, get out here."

"Which she, Kyurem, or Danielle with the pitons?"

"Well, one's a frigid dinosaur who's killed before and could freeze your blood, and the other's a pokemon. Amirite?"

"...."

"You don't got a sense of humor. Shut up and check if there's anyone else. Or go clean up that kid. Danielle's Machoke's almost the bitch she is."

Immense scrambling could be heard in the chasm as wires were hooked up, an ax was unembedded, and just a general flurry of movement. The blackleaf grunts already forgot about Eric. Meanwhile a flashlight began to search around the generator for any friends or other rats that might have shown up.

Above Micah, a small trembling could be felt, and if looked, a small flag could be seen fluttering on an outcrop of rock above.

Ruins Team
Seeing as it was left undisturbed, the Crandios continued gnawing away at Reese’s backpack, completely content for the time being. It cared little for what the pair of grunts were doing or talking about, emitting nary a sound as they discussed what to do about the door in their limited time. At least until the sound of tearing fabric could be heard, the contents of Reese’s backpack dumping out onto the floor of the ruins. The head butt Pokemon rifled through the mess for only a brief moment before snapping up a crumpled box of gum and eating it.

Kenneth’s endeavors, meanwhile, proved to be just as successful. As Milutin focused on the doorknob, creaking could be heard before the large chunk of metal tore free and shot back at it, sticking to the magnet Pokemon with a clang. A screwdriver followed, along with a few pieces of random cutlery. With a resounding thud, a mini-fridge was the final object to come tumbling out the door. Much to the delighted cries of Cranidos. The little fossil Pokemon wasted zero time before it started devouring any and all spilled food. And likely more than a few items that weren't edible.

As the pair stepped inside, they find that the small building was a mess. Likely thanks to Milutin’s overachieving. What computers were there had been turned into very expensive bricks. Off to the far end of the building were three cots and bags with the research team's personal belongings. Cranidos gave a shocked cry as the pop can it bit into all but exploded in its mouth and fizzed everywhere. Even with the can visible, the red cream soda made for a somewhat disconcerting sight. The rest of the space was dedicated to - now likely damaged - lab equipment. It’d take some digging, but sure enough, the grunts would be able to find the DNA splicer. Under a table by the door.

Their victory was short lived, as the rustle of feathers sounded at the door. A Murkrow hovered in the entrance to the building, blinking dumbly at the mess and intruders for a moment. Without warning, it let out an ear-piercing screech. One loud enough to give an upset Whismur a run for its money in such a small space. It dove and snatched the DNA splicer back before scrambling out of the trailer and down the tunnel, like the mad little thief it was.

Cranidos was oblivious to the scene, focused entirely on the dumped fridge.

Should the pair give chase, they’d find the unlit passageway long and winding. At a particularly sharp curve, a dim glow crept into the tunnel along with voices. “This isn’t my journal,” the woman from before spoke. “How did you even get it? The door was…”

The snap of a pokeball opening, followed by a cry.

“Markus, you’re gonna wake it!” A new voice spoke up, judging by the third bed back in the building, it was the last member of the team. He sounded to be in near hysterics.

“You could hit it and it wouldn’t wake up,” Markus replied.

It would be obvious as soon as they rounded the corner. A cloying heat filled the space, emanating from the massive pokemon in the chamber’s heart. Embedded in the floor up to its neck, shimmering chains extended from its rocky prison. Glowing veins of lava ran through its dulled red body. Much like Markus had pointed out, Groudon didn’t so much as stir at the sounds of talking and pokemon cries.

The woman, Valerie, sighed at the pair of grunts. “Was a matter of time before one of you showed up…” Murkrow dropped the retrieved splicer in her hand.

Tyrunt roared, a silver orb of energy forming in front of it before firing at one of the grunts.

"Ianthe, if you can we could really use a way out of here! I only have two flares left to keep this Joltik away!"

Crapcrapcrapcrap! Okay. Ianthe heard him say earlier that Ren knew Ingrain and Absorb. She peered down the hole for a moment after the flash came out behind her, checking out the problem.

"Arceus, how many kids did you have?!?" She whispered frantically at the Galvantula. "Damon, keep an eye on that guy! Ren, please do me a favor for your owner, okay? Can you use Absorb for me on the Galvantula?"

There were so many of those Joltiks down there. She'd never seen a nest of them, and while it was super interesting, this wasn't the time to figure out more about it. She noticed that the Joltik were wary of the flash, but seemed even more afraid of the Swablu on Damon's head. Which...she peered at it again. Was that a shiny Swablu? Honestly, that would make sense on how it attracted the attention of the Joltik and the Galvantula. It was singing a song with a hint of desolation...something about it sounded familiar.

Ianthe wanted to think back on it, but she didn't have a minute to do so - she had to figure out a way to get Damon, Swabku, the Blackleaf grunt, and hopefully Castform, out of that nest, before the Joltik would swarm them. Maybe...maybe she could get Nymph to try something different.

"Nymph, I need you to do me two more favors, okay? Use Play Nice on the Galvantula and then let's see if you can try another move."

Nymph was shivering at having to face the Galvantula, but she knew she had to assist Ianthe. She also knew that the faster she performed the move, the less time she'd have to look at the big spider. So, she turned around on Ianthe's head, shooting out hearts and sparkles in the direction of the Galvantula, before turning around once more for the next command.

"Excellent, Nymphie. Now, let's try this: Vine Whip for me, okay? See if you can reach to Damon to help pull him up."

Nymph let out a confused noise at the request, and she struggled to attempt the move for Ianthe, but it didn't work.

"Keep trying, Nymph. You can do this, I believe in you."

Nymph tried once more, and then again, and it was the third try that purple vines left her side and went into the pit, one gripping around Damon's waist and the other around the Blackleaf grunt.

"Excellent work, Nymphie!!" Ianthe cheered, grabbing the Bounsweet off her head and holding Nymph in her arms. "Let's bring them up together, okay? You and me."

She and Nymph began pulling them up, Ianthe acting as an anchor while Nymph pulled upwards with her Vine Whip.

Akira knew agreeing to go on these ridiculous missions was going to ruin her day and damn, she was not wrong. First she almost drowned and now she was getting electrocuted. Sure, it had happened before - many times actually - but just because she was used to getting zapped every once in a while by her pokemon, it didn't mean she enjoyed it. This was why she wore such thick layers and rubber soles. Seeing as Ri's attack had indeed helped further confuse the giant spider, she was relieved to know that at least there was a small chance of them managing to get out of this situation alive.

She listened as Ianthe told Nymph to attack as well as Ren and let out a sigh in relief as the move effected the power behind Galvantula's attacks. As Ren used absorb, she urged Luc forward. "Luc, tackle!" At her command, Luc immediately rushed forward, slamming into the dazed Galvantula. "Shinx!" he snarled out, before heading back to his guard position in front of Akira, waiting to see if it would get back up and attack once more.

"Stay on guard, Luc." she ordered, taking a small step back, not wanting to completely stop watching the scene before her, but needing to see how the rescue plan was coming along. They needed to get a move on in case they became overpowered by the Galvantula and it's seemingly multitude of children, if Ianthe's frantic whisper was anything to go by.

"How's it going?" she asked hurriedly, halting her slow backward steps until she was beside the other girl. She glanced down to see them pulling the two up and almost sighed again, glad that something seemed to be working. She turned her gaze back to the pokemon before her, clutching Ri a bit tighter in her hands than before. She really didn't like this situation. Hopefully it wrapped up soon.

Micah Reed
Location: Nacreous Glacier Chasm | Interactions: Ganryu Ganryu KageYuuki KageYuuki | Mentions: None
A small smile appeared on Micah's face as he looked forward at the generator, the excitement taking over him. It had been a while since Micah had the chance to fight someone, and he was really looking forward to partaking in some action. Before he could do anything, though, Micah saw as Eric pulled his ax free and rush the generator. For a moment, Micah just sat there and watched, curious as to what his teammate's plan was. It quickly became apparent that Eric probably didn't think the idea through when his Riolu flailed after him and he started whacking the generator. At least he managed to turn the generator off and reveal the position of a few grunts before the light sputtered out. Through the fog, Micah barely managed to make out the shapes, but he did spot a relatively large humanoid shape pick up the boy and then drop him to the ground. The situation seemed to have turned ugly and Micah would need to react quickly to make sure their mission didn't end before it even started.

Realizing that the fog probably helped cover Micah's position as much as it hid the Blackleaf members, he ducked behind a rock and let out both of his Pokemon. Before he could process the situation and think of something to do, a rumbling came from above him, prompting him to look up. Up above him, Micah saw a flag fluttering in the wind along with the trembling in that section of the chasm. Micah then looked back toward where Eric was, realizing that he probably didn't have much time to act before the element of surprise faded. Peeking out, Micah spotted a small beam from a flashlight all the way by the generator, which gave him an idea of what he could do. Quietly, he turned to his Pokemon and laid out his plan. "Alright, Gemma, use Shadow Sneak and pop out right where that beam of light is. Use Power Gem on whoever is holding the flashlight. I'm gonna run out and cause a distraction while Redgie uses Shadow Sneak to follow me and then attack whoever falls for the bait while I distract. You got it?" Gemma nodded eagerly while Redgie began to shake with excitement. "Now, then!"

With that, Micah jumped out from behind the rock and bolted toward the figures he saw while Redgie followed as a shadow on the wall. Gemma immediately hopped into the ground and made her way through to the flashlight. Once she reached the grunt, she jumped out and launched Power Gem at him before hopping into the wall. Micah found the grunts and started making a scene. "What's up? What're you lot up to here? Doesn't seem too big if some kid with an ax can just break it like that." Redgie stood by on the wall, watching intently to see who would approach him, holding a Fury Cutter for whoever stepped up first. "I mean, really. I could probably beat you all without breaking much of a sweat, so why don't you just leave since this is clearly above your paygrade."

Eric Wolfe

Eric grinned as the generator sputtered out. He honestly didn’t expect that throw to really do anything, but he wasn’t going to complain that it had. His grin didn’t last long, however, as his first punch landed. The hell? The guy was built like a friggin Machamp!

Freja, meanwhile, made short work of the third grunt. Her diving force palm had hit home and the Riolu was now perched atop the unconscious man. While her aura sensing may have been nothing compared to a full-grown Lucario, the sudden loss of light still did little to hamper her.

The confusion was short-lived as Eric found himself hoisted in the air. The trainer blinked, ”...Huh” Turned out he had actually punched a Machoke. Funnily enough, this wasn’t the first time he’d found himself in this situation. Though last time it was a Machamp, and it was a lot more angry with him.

A person can get some serious airtime with seismic toss.

Eric gritted his teeth as he was plopped back onto the ice with a laugh. The smug grin and mocking laughter? It was actually worse than just pissing the thing off. ”You’re lucky I haven’t mastered aura strikes,” he muttered, pushing himself up enough for a good punch before drawing his fist back once again. He didn’t get a chance to throw it before something slammed into his side at high speeds, sending him tumbling across the ice. ”Freja, what the hell!? I was handling it.”

Freja ignored him in favor of turning her force palm to the generator, looking to damage it beyond repair, and quickly. The darkness was only going to buy them so much time. She sighed, feeling another pokemon appear. It would probably take both trainers working together to clean up here. But would that be possible?

”Is that a challenge, Micah?” Eric muttered under his breath as his teammate began calling out to the remaining grunts, who clearly couldn’t be bothered with him. The one that broke their generator in the first place! He clenched his fist, not about to be shown up so easily and so early in their first mission. Red eyes burned blue once more as Eric took in his surroundings.

There were two grunts moving around still, the third laid out in the snow courtesy of Freja it seemed. The machoke was still running around, and a voltorb had joined it. His eyes narrowed slightly as a hazy form, it must have been Gemma running towards the flashlight, and then there was the form of Redgie staying close to its own trainer.

Fine, if you’re gonna go after that one, then I’ll get the one barking orders… Eric’s steps could be surprisingly quiet when he focused. Whether or not he’d get close enough to land a knifehand strike on the grunt with that machoke running around was another matter entirely.

Damon Arwell
Pannus Grasslands

As the Blackleaf member spoke Damon's eyes wandered to his belt and eyed the faint symbols on the poke balls at his hip. The one with what looked like rain and some kind of writing was probably the best bet to be Castform, since it didn't appear to be out in the open. That could present a problem, but it would be one that would have to be dealt with after they're out of life threatening danger.

"Name's Damon, and of course I'm saving you! I wouldn't leave anyone to die just to save myself!" Damon, body pumping with adrenaline, hefted Zeth up to a standing position. There wasn't any pain in his arm from the use, but it was stiff in it's movement. Turning his back to Zeth, Damon pulled the second flare out and aimed it preparatorily. The other one was still burning bright and hot, but he was taking no chances.

Thankfully he didn't have to use the second one before Ianthe had made her move. Suddenly purple vines wrapped around both him and Zeth and began lifting them out. He kept the flare aimed at the ready, but didn't otherwise make a move. Lifting two separate large weights like this couldn't have been easy on her Bounsweet, and he didn't want to add any extra pressure to the poor thing.

Meanwhile, Ren had fully roused from her nap with confusion and worry. Not knowing where her friend was made her immediately unhappy, but she rushed to do what Ianthe said since she mentioned him in the process. Floating down to the ground between Ianthe and the Galvantula. Ren looked distinctly unperturbed by the Galvantula, despite the size difference.

Ren was happy to do as asked, but she also did another move first out of nervousness for not having Damon to tell her what to do. Little sprouting roots spread from the lower portion of her body and stuck into the ground as she reflexively used Ingrain. She followed this up by firing a light red beam at the Galvantula that upon contact would begin draining it of its energy. Not particularly fond of combat, this was Ren's way of outlasting and scaring off other Pokemon back when she was wild. She just hoped it helped now!

"Above our paygrade?! Get out here you little shit! Seriously, if the power doesn't get turned on soon, we're gunna have much bigger problems than a bunch of hooligansDave, get that voltorb hooked up pronto!"

The flashlight got closer to Micah as Sableye prepared a power gem. The light of the move forced the man to act quick, dropping his flashlight as he threw a pokeball.

"Haus, Suckerpunch!"

A dark shadow flew out of the pokeball, a hand flying out and batting at the Sableye in the face to cause it to fire off into the glacier to cause sheets of ice falling a few feet behind Eric. Haunter, however, was completely unaware of the Honedge and its Fury Slash, a direct hit from behind it making it flinch and back off, looking nervously between Sableye, as it disappeared, and Honedge. His trainer facepalmed.

"For Heaven's sakes Haus, we've been over this, its just two opponents, not pokemon you have to actually talk with. I swear, you start breaking down now... You're fine when a dozen blackleaf grunts went to karaoke!"

"Haun, haunt, haun."

"What do you mean inferior species!?"

In the distance, Dave spoke up. "Need help?" He hold up a Pokeball that looked wierd. It seemed staticky, pieces of it glitching around, blocks randomly disappearing around it and reassembling.

"I swear, Dave, you pull that abomination out for less than Kyurem herself, I'm kicking you so hard you don't get kids! The hell you get that anyways?"

"In a volcano.... as it was going off... Went homeless, had to move to Vera Valle."

"J-just shut up and hook up Voltorb. And hey, let's get drinks after this." Grunt with a flashlight went back to scanning the area, trying to find Micah, his light passing right over his positions a few times, Haunter nervously throwing a few punches in the air.

------------

As Freya lept at the generator, Machoke lept infront of her force palm, the strike going off against its thick muscles with a sudden burst of red aura of its own. It was enough to bring it to one knee on the ground as it hit its stomach, a gasp resounding across the chasm. It stood with some effort before crossing its arm and laughing heartily. Letting out a roar, it violently uncrossed them, a wave of energy passing over Freya and Eric, suddenly the force of being punched in the head and being force palmed in stomach came across both of them.

Bide

It started to glow red again, and beckoned the two to try again, a wall of muscle standing in their way.

The lights finally activated again, before the rumbling began again, causing both blackleaf grunts and Machoke to look up at the cause. Suddenly a sheet of ice started to fall, more and more snow coming with it in a moving wave, falling in a frozen ocean on top of the lights, "Dave", and the voltorb, burying them completely. Atop the surfing ice, the purple flag continued to wave majestically, revealing its full form as an actual cape, a pattern for 悪即斬 appearing in gold across its back. (Slay Evil Instantly). And beneath the coat? A Swinub with its head held high as it watched the battlefield, posing majestically.... as it crashed into the opposing wall of the chasm.

The brown and purple blop bounced a few times before landing in front of Micah, groaning slightly as its head waved, a goosebump already growing.

"SWWWIIIII!"

It again posed for the villains, a single light surviving the avalanche and posing a beam over Swinub, highlighting it completely. Eyeing the Machoke in the distance, it let out another roar, before leaping in the air, and coming down with ungodly force on the floor. Cracks began to crawl out below it, inching towards the Machoke, before shattering wide open in a fissure, getting closer and closer, before suddenly veering off to the left, stopping inches away from the generator. Swinub stood embarrassed for a second, before posing again, letting its cape flatter in the heavy wind, as if it totally succeeded yet again. One might wonder if the avalanche was also a complete accident.

Kenneth Vano
In all honesty, Kenneth did not expect the door to not move at all. It should of just sit it's door-y end where it was an be completely unaffected by Milutin's magnetism. On the contrary, Kenneth had to duck from all of the medal objects that were flying by to Milutin. Milutin didn't see to care as it was barraged by a variety of medal objects. After bringing every single metal object to its vicinity Milutin dumped it beneath him, the sounds of bolts and chunks of metal dropping like a bunch of coins. After dusting and patting his pants off, he looked at Reese. "There we go, that ain't too bad right?" He gave her a cheeky smile, almost as to say he planned it all along.

Without the door stopping them anymore, Kenneth entered inside the building. Everything was littered onto the floor, it was a like a tornado came and went inside. Kenneth gave a side glance at Milutin, who as usual stared off blankly into space, before beginning his search for the Gene Splicer. He counted three bags and and wasted no time searching through them. There were a bunch of journals and scientific-y stuff that Kenneth bothered to learn and some reading material that made him frown. Regardless of that, he didn't finding anything in their bags and began to search somewhere else. He was treated by the sight of the Cranidos popping a can, and quickly went off to find the Gene Splicer. "Gene Splicer... Gene Splicer... Aha! Gene Splicer, here you are!" Kenneth said as he went over and took the Gene Splicer. It had been under the table this entire time!

With the pyramid shaped device in his hand, he wondered to himself. Why did the scientist have the Gene Splicer on them? If he remembered correctly, the Gene Splicer had the ability to allow Kyurem to reunite with the two other Unovan Legendaries. Whatever was Kenneth mind was gone as a loud screech resounded in the air. He was more than use to loud screeches being blasted in his vicinity, but he jumped when a black blur appeared and snatched the Gene Splicer out of his hand. "Hey!" He yelled. Looking up to see the culprit, it was a Murkrow. His eyes wandered towards its hat. Was it really made out of its own feathers?

With the Murkrow flying away with their objective, Kenneth had no choice but to pursue the raven. Keep his eyes on the prize, Kenneth chased after the darkness Pokemon, making sudden turns as the Murkrow finally reached its destination. Kenneth eyes watered up as a wave of heat hit his eyes causing him to tear up. Wiping his eyes out of necessity and disbelief, he saw Groudon. Much to his disbelief, he saw that it was actually chained down. Someone was actually beat and subdue a disaster leveled Pokemon? Shaking his head, he turned around to focus-

At the sight of what he thought was the Cranidos's Ancient Power attack, Kenneth immediately jumped off to the side as the flying rocks flew by him. Milutin, who was following him this entire time, arrived and took the hit. Due to its steel typing, the attack didn't seem to be very effective against the Magnemite. "Magnemite bring the Gene Splicer over with your magnetism!" Kenneth yelled as he unclipped Mandrawl's Pokeball. Releasing said Pokemon out, he gave the command. "Go crazy, Mandrawl! Cry at your hearts content!" With his sudden appearance, Mandrawl was tense, and started to tear up. Not having enough time to bring out his ear muffs, Kenneth gritted his teeth as the small mammal unleashed an ear splitting Echoed Voice attack. The sound bounced off the cave walls and increased the volume. Milutin, who was seemingly unaffected by the attack, just raised its magnets up in an attempt to attract the Gene Splicer over to itself.

Gavantula was reeling from all the attacks striking it from various directions, hearts that hurt, tackles that hurt worse, having its life leeched from it from two directions, watching its children scatter out of the net to get away from the damn swablu. It was not having a good day. And its vision was still blurry! It was hard to aim accurately when there were two of everything! And there was that damn laughing sheep. It was laughing last time before it'd escaped, and it was laughing now.

Still, anger overpowered challenge, and a bay'ing of a spider shook the area, before it's eyes, all six of them, settled on Mareep. They began to glow with a rainbow of colors, before firing in a beam at the pokemon, and at Damon behind them. The beam left a burning aura that heated up the entire area, even where it wasn't touching.

Gavantula then fired, hitting the sheep dead on with a cry, crackling energy making its floof discharge next to Ren in a massive wave of electricity, before sending it flying towards Damon's chest, and with enough force to break through the net surrounding them. Mareep let out a massive cry as it flew, not used to its schemes coming to bite it in the butt.

Gavantula huffed and puffed, crackling again as it turned to the pokemon around it, to fight, before its body crackled with electricity again. It seemed to be overloading much like last time due to Pichu.

The air was getting again heavy, with hair and fur standing on edge as Gavantula gathered electricity to fire, before lightning fell from the sky in a massive bolt, a flash of light blinding everyone, and the crash of thunder deafening. As the buzzing died down with the flash, Gavantula was left twitching on the ground, the bolt of lightning also hitting the nearest pokemon, Luc, though not nearly as badly.

Zeth stood awestruck. "Awesome...."

Around them various Joltiks began to pass out as Perish Song took effect on a mass scale.

~Sky Island Diaries: Day 2~

“Is that all you can do!?” Fliathri asked as the bat infront of him flashed on and off again while crying. “W-what wouldst be thy strategem should you be attacked!?”

The bat shrugged before diving Fliathri, making the man shriek as it reached into his tail pockets, quickly emptying them of the berries inside. In the distance Himiko was rubbing her temples with the back of her palm.

“Now, now my queen, no need to get jealous. We simply need to asses our battle strength.”

The gremlin noibat flashed again, causing Fliathri to yelp, fall over, and empty that pocket. The bat began to wander off before Fliathri whistled.

“But don’t you have that mythic berry I promised?”

It’s ears stood on edge. Fliathri cleared his throat, before making a series of handgestures to Himiko. She complained, but quickly disappeared into the underbrush. Fliathri had no mythical berry. But his queen was productive. If lazy.

“Now, let’s go Noibat. I wish for the life of me I could remember what madam Maya named you. Azucar? I suppose it mattereth not. Tallyho!”

And so the dandy began his journey to the center of sky island to see what treasures would be.

Sky Island was absolutely teeming with life, there weren’t many places one could go without at least one wild pokemon in sight. Fliathri would be forced to stop on multiple ocassion as massive clouds of Hoppip and Cottonee drifted lazily by in the breeze. One particular Cottonee was oddly devoid of its namesake fluff.

For a moment, the sky above darkened as a massive bird pokemon glided overhead. Clad in elaborate black feathers it didn’t seem to pay much attention to anything underneath it. Corviknight’s otherwise peaceful flight didn’t last as the smaller and much faster Skarmory slammed into its side sparking a battle in the skies.

The little gremlin didn’t seem to notice any of this before shooting off and clinging to a clump of fruit hanging off a pokemon’s neck. With massive leaves sprouting from its back like wings, the pokemon blinked in confusion, unable to see what had clung to it.

Fliathri was taking it all in awe. So few people had managed to make it to this island. His current issue was getting off, but, hey, one day at a time. He was an adventurer first, and a member of blackleaf second. Besides, reporting things such as this to Mansel would probably get him the respect he deserved. He watched the Corviknight fight the skies versus the skarmary, though he didn’t know their names. Neither did he know the name of the large dinosaur like pokemon Noibat was currently acosting for fruit.

Fliathri clapped his hands.

“This will be good practice. For both of us. Noibat, Fly to its face, flash. Then screech. Be annoying. Run.”

Reluctantly, Noibat left Tropius’s neck, before flying infront of it’s face, a bright flash pulsing in its face before the bat screeched loudly in its ears, trying to be annoying.

Tropius staggered back a few steps, dazed. First some tiny pokemon latched to its neck, and now its trying to blind and deafen it! In an attempt to get rid of the annoyance, the fruit pokemon beat its wings and kicked up a strong gust of wind.

“Hoppiiiiii!” A chorus of cries sounded behind Fliathri as a cluster of Hoppip were helplessly blown away.

Fliathri covered his tophat reflexively, the gust blowing him off his feet, and the cloud of hoppip’s not helping.

“Wish my queen were here to give me options.”

He shook his head.

“Its not annoyed enough. Screech louder! How’s this, obey me this one battle, and I’ll prank your trainer as well as the promised berry reward! Or rather the queen will, but details

Energetically the bat deafened Fliathri and much of the surrounding pokemon as the volume increased, released in a conical sound at Tropius. Fliathri continued to try and bat the Hoppip away, literally grabbing one of them, and throwing it like a baseball in the air.

Tropius gave an aggravated roar before violently thrashing. It wanted to silence the annoyance in a single, brutal swing. An explosion of cotton fluff was sent into the air as one unfortunate soul was caught in the crossfire.

Fliathri gulped, grabbing the Noibat’s pokeball, but putting it back down. It’d be experience that both surely needed. Himiko was… well, she was his equal, he’d never get better like this if he called it quits now! God bless that Cottonee’s soul though… He shook his head.

“Screech, again! Make it follow you in the air. Then fly 5’o’clock… Wait. Shit, Azucar won’t know a watch… Fly towards 3rd spike on a Tomato berry! DON’T STOP!”

Noibat let out another horrendous screech, then flew to its 5, right between Skarmary and Corviknight’s battle.

Thoroughly enraged at the little shite of a pokemon, Tropius took off after it without a second thought, not even noticing the middair duel. It thrashed again, smashing into both and missing its intended target. Three attacks collided midair in a brilliant crash, three dazed pokemon dropped to the ground.

Fliathri held up the pokeball, withdrawing Noibat. He put his cane to the ground, leaning against it, and whistled.

“Now, say, which of you chaps has any energy left?”

He raised an eyebrow, and stood where he was at, pulling his hat down slightly with a smirk.

None in the knocked out trio moved, they’d likely be out for awhile from the looks of it. Meanwhile, something settled onto Fliathri’s tophat. “Hoppip!” It chirped happily.

Fliathri looked up at the weed, then down to the three fainted pokemon. “Very well. They’ve failed my expectations. Welcome aboard Hoppip. We run a tight shift here. I don’t think a pokeball will be necessary. You’ve caught me in a good mood. You may have my hat. Let’s go.”

Fliathri walked out from under, and continued forward, expecting the pokemon to follow, humming as he twirled his cane around.

Hoppip blinked dumbly as Fliathri walked out from under the hat. It hadn’t blown off during Tropius’ fit, it was supposed to be a safe perch! It fluttered after him in a panic, trying to reattach the hat and anchor.

~Sky Island Diaries: Day 2 - Himiko~

Himiko stopmed through the tall grass, muttering and mewing angrily to herself. Of course SHE had to actually find the mythical berry. SHE was the smart one. Secretly she was flattered Fliathri trusted her to do it, but it would have been out of character not to complain at least a little!

She had a plan if this place was as ‘mythical’ as was claimed. Grab an Aguav berry, fill it with cherries, and coat it with Hondew juice. Boom, new berries. Of course, Himiko couldn’t TASTE sweet like Asuka the Noibat could, so she had no idea if it was good or not, but, well, they’d never promised that part. Just a mythical new berry. Now where to search.

As she was trudging through grasslands, a big ball of fluff hit her straight in the face.

“Nee!”

Well, suffice to say, it didn’t escape with its prized cotton as Himiko screamed and leapt at it. Flying away quickly, Himiko chuckled, holding a long line of wool in her claws… before realizing she couldn’t do anything with it… She started shaking with indecision. She’d stolen a thing. But she couldn’t use a thing. W-what to do?

Himiko didn’t have much time to ponder her conumdrum before something buzzed by her head. The small green pokemon looked like it’d fit right in Moonmist Glade, even more so given the flowers growing and blooming in its trail. Humming a bright melody to itself, it carried a small pile of golden berries in its arms.

A “REEEH!” screeched and echo’d as Himiko roared. In a blur Himiko flew at the creature, shoulder tackling it in a quick attack at it. Not very powerful, but rage before reason. It hadn’t even noticed the berry, which was weird for Himiko, but after last experience in Moonglade Mist, screw fairies, screw all of them!

Celebi was sent tumbling from the surprise attack, blinking at Himiko in shock and confusion. “Bi?” The confusion fell away as it saw the sheer rage emanating from her. Small crystals suddenly formed around it before errupting in a dazzling gleam.

Himiko was a bit of a violent mon, attacking instead of defending, breathing out an icy cold breath at Celebi in an effort to end things as quick as possible. She HATED fairies!

Frost started creeping up in patches on Celebi before vanishing at its own attack went off in a blinding flash of light. The blast would be rather familiar to Himiko, albeit much more powerful.

A “Nyeah” sounded as Himiko went flying into the shrub int th distance, the blast engulfing her, before setting her rolling through the patches, leaving Sneasel shaped holes in it. A moan came from Sneasel’s mouth as she lay on the ground, bruised all over. Dark types didn’t take kindly to fairy type moves like dazzling gleam. Their sneaky methods meant direct attacks, like fighting or fairy hurt like hell.

Himiko held up a claw, and let out a curse, pointing towards Celebi, before its arm fell back limply into the grass.

Shaking its head, Celebi recollected its dropped berry horde before starting to fly off. It paused, glancing between the unconscious pokemon and the gleaming fruits for a moment before sighing. The time travel pokemon fluttered over to her and deposited a berry in her open claw before vanishing in another flash.

Breathing hard, Himiko watched the sky above her for several minutes, the clouds spilling by, and a peaceful breeze passing through the area. She hated it here! Give her a city any day. Forest, plains, no thank you. Finally getting up with a grunt, she noticed the berry by her side. Golden in hue… she’d never seen anything like this! Himiko hesitated. She really wanted a bite… Shaking her head, she held it in the air triumphantly, and cried out in victory. Stuffing it in her back, she winced as she took a step forward, but in a few moments she was flying out of there at speeds few humans besides her partner would keep up with.

It didn’t take her long to find him, the stupid hat bobbing up an ddown… several feet above where it should be. Coming towards him, she saw a hoppip in the air with his hat. With an annoyed mew, Himiko pointed at the hoppip, and snarled, a plain question.

“Piiiiip….”

Himiko shook her head, and pointed at Fliathri, making an slit motion over her throat at the happy weed.

“Pip?” The Hoppip audibly gulped.

“This here is our newest partner, Genghis, who’ll be joining us. Why, out of all the pokemon I've seen today, only he alone has impressed me. I'm not quite sure what the other pokemon were, but, they were undesirable. Now, now, I know thyne thoughts my queen, but we need more help, and… what are you reaching for?”

Already bored, HImiko snatched a pokeball off his side, and released Asuka, the gremlin little bat. Before it could make it far, Himiko slammed him on the ground, grabbed the gold berry, and shoved it into his mouth whole. She then nodded and gave a questioning meow sound, her arms crossed. (Asking opinion.)

The small gremlin’s eyes widened as she chewed the berry, soon glistening with tears. In a barrage of excited chirps, Asuka attempted to latch onto Himiko’s neck in thanks.

Himiko’s eye’s widened as she turned to Fliathri and mewed loudly, shaking her shoulders, but too stunned to physically remove the bat. Eventually she just kicked its pokeball, sending him back.

Shaking her head, she then pointed Hoppip, and snarled, getting into a defensive stance, but didn’t attack.

Fliathri reached for where his hat was, phantom grabbing it before noticing it was on Genghis.

“I see. You want to test out your new co-partner’s strength. I do believe he’s much, much weaker than you, my queen, but I can give you a show. There’s been a strategy I’ve been working on. Would you like a go. Azucar, give us a count down.”

ANother burst of light, and the bat started to screech, complaining about the constant in and out of its pokeball. Still, it counted. “Noi, noi…. NOI!”

“Genghis, stun spore!”

Himiko leapt back from the spores, quickly out of reach of teh cloud from hoppip. She sneered, and prowled around, waiting for the cloud to die down. This instant it was, she rushed at the weed in a blur of speed, quick attack.

“Genghis… Splash.”

Himiko looked weirdly, but continued the assault as Hoppip bounced around uselessly on the ground, connecting with a tackle to send it flying. Hoppip began to panick and scream, looking forr somewhere to land.

“You’re fine, my arial king. Poison powder.”

Himiko sneered. She’d dodged the first. She could dodge the second. This was even farther away. Leaping back, HImiko found her body unresponding, twitching in place. “Nyah!?” The purple cloud descended on her regardless, making her cough, and drop to one knee. She tried to tackle at the weed again, but her body froze up.

Fliathri reached out, and plucked the screaming plant from the sky.

“I believe that’s a good enough show.”

“Ni! Ni?!”

“Oh, the splash sent the spores on the ground back into the air as you hit Hoppip, making a fresh cloud. Now, I think we’ve had enough adventure’s for one day. You, however, are much too powerful, another hit would have done it, methinks. And an icy wind is quadruple effective, quite potent should you fight the right type again. Still, I think this satisfies why I picked Genghis here.. Let’s set up camp.”

Himiko pouted and fell backwards, watching the sky. Today had been one helluva day….
