Chapter One - Beginnings

You awaken to find yourself in a cave. It's floor is void of water, and only a little sunlight filters in from a small hole above you, illuminating your surroundings. The air is humid and despite the closeness to the surface, rather stale. The air outside, you figure, isn't moving much. Turning around, you can see one direction is closed off with a rock slide. Did you fall into this cave? Would that explain the throbbing radiating from the back of your head? Regardless, it seems that rock pile isn't big enough to give you an exit from the cave via where you apparently fell in. Looks like you're stuck down here.

Only... where is here? While we're at it, who are you?

Huh, that's right. Your name was Clyde. Yes, memories started flooding back to you. You were a human, and the last place you remember being in was a church... in Hoenn, you do believe. You and your family were avid followers of Azurism, a religion focused around the myth of Arceus creating the world, and the first seven Pokemon after him. Those seven Pokemon being, of course, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, and Mew. Azurism briefly touches on the seven's lore as well, and does allow for their worship, but not as avidly as the followers of Trioism and the Cult of the Mind.

[SIZE= 20px]But that's quite enough musing over your past. You still down't know where you are, or how you wound up here in the first place. Looking around, it doesn't take long to conclude that you've transformed into a Pokemon, a Treecko to be more precise. Taking another look around your surroundings, you can conclude there's only a limited number of options from here out. A tunnel extends before you, tapering off into darkness. If only you had been a fire type, perhaps you would have had a way to see the path before you. But that's not something to mull over, either. The rock slide behind you towers intimidatingly, and you have a feeling if you don't get a move on, you might not be moving at all. Of course, there might be helpful things buried in the rocks that you could try and dislodge...[/SIZE]

In RPGs I search everything despite the risks, so why not?

[SIZE= 20px]You suppose there's no harm in checking the rocks behind you for some items. At the very least, you could probably find some pebbles to throw at anyone who might attack you while you're down here. Naturally, you're no entirely sure how to use your Pokemon abilities right off the bat. What kind of person would actually be able to pull that off? Probably one that's been a Pokemon before... but you're mentally rambling to yourself again. [/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]Returning to the task at hand, you hop up on a small boulder, your fingertips and toes oddly sticking to the surface just long enough for you to find another handhold or foothold. You wouldn't put money on being able to do this all the way up out of the cave, given how just climbing up here dislodged a few pebbles, one of them bouncing off your tail on the way down. There. Now that you were up higher, and could more easily scout the rubble of the rocks on the ground, you do notice a small messenger bag. It's dusty and beaten, with a faded insignia on the flap that looks like some kind of shield with wings. Scrambling clumsily down, you tug the bag out from under the rock the strap had caught on, and slung it experimentally over your shoulder. Seemed like a perfect fit! Checking the interior of the bag, you're rather surprised to find three perfectly fine Oran Berries inside. [/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]After a brief climb back towards where you had started off, you turn towards the tunnel. You've already pushed your luck with the rock pile, so perhaps it was time to forge ahead.[/SIZE]

Always follow the left wall. Or was it the right?

... Well, so long as Clyde follows one set wall it'll be fine. Probably.

[SIZE= 20px]Right. You suppose it's a good idea to keep a hand on the wall so you don't wind up getting lost or falling over a cliff... though now that you think about it, keeping a hand on the wall won't really keep you from falling over a cliff. Then again, your hands and feet are supposed to stick to any surface, right? As you move the tips of your fingers to the wall, the large bulbous tips squish against the smooth stone wall, making it incredibly difficult to actually take a step forwards. After spending a good minute relaxing your hand, you instead press the back of your hand against the wall, running it over the stone as you proceed down the tunnel, the other hand gripping your bag strap. [/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]You've spent a good five minutes walking down this tunnel before something occurs to you. With your sticky hands and feet, you could have just climbed out of here. Wow, okay, you're an idiot. But you supposed you figured you couldn't because you assumed you'd be a human and all that, and somehow turned out to not be human after all. Lost in your thoughts, you almost face plant tripping over a hard ledge. Acting on reflex, your hand grasps the wall, while the other sticks itself out to catch your fall. You wind up not only stuck to the wall, but also to the floor, taking the fortunate moment to reorient your feet underneath you. Standing up, you're surprised to find that the piece of floor that your hand attached to breaks and comes up easily with a rather loud snapping sound. You raise the item to your eyes to observe it, but obviously you can't see in this darkness. It feels surprisingly light in your hand, not quite like the sedimentary rock you've observed back when you could see, and much smoother, too, almost like it was glass or polished somehow. Shaking the item produces no sound, so it's either hollow and empty or solid all the way through.[/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]You suppose you could perhaps try another sense, or you could continue on the path. [/SIZE]

Great, now I've got the 'don't you put it in your mouth' song stuck in my head. :Ghostxxn:

- Mysterious Object

[SIZE= 20px]Giving the object a sniff, you conclude that it's some kind of non-living thing, given the way it doesn't smell. If anything it almost smelled like graphite, or pencil lead. No doubt your hand is going to be covered in whatever color this object is once you find a place that allows you to actually see. [/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]You stick it in a separate pouch in your bag, what you're going to dub the "Key Items" pouch. No sense covering the Oran Berries in graphite or whatever the object you picked up is. Removing your other hand from where it was on the wall, you continue down the passage, picking your feet up more as you move to prevent being tripped again. As you continue, you notice less and less bumps in the road. In stead, it seems that whatever initially tripped you has now become the flooring of the passage way. The walls have also become more smooth to the touch. You wouldn't be surprised if many people made their way through this tunnel at some point. It's strangely deserted right now, though. The passage is eerily silent, save for the padding of your feet and the sound of your hand on the wall. You take a moment to stop and listen. You can hear the rushing of your blood in your... ears, you suppose, despite the fact that you have no ears as a Treecko. There's also the sound of faint movement... faint, scratchy, frantic sounds. You suppose it would have been too much to ask for, for this cave to be abandoned. The sounds bother you, but not to the point of making you desperate to find a way out.[/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]---[/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]If you had to guess how long you've been walking, you'd say it's been about half an hour since you tripped and picked up that unknown item. The cave's made many twists and turns, not that you can actually tell unless there's a sudden change in the angle of the wall. You might just be going in a circle, for all you know. The scrabbling sound you heard earlier sometimes gets louder, and there was a point where you were sure it was just on the other side of what you assumed to be a stone wall. The scrabbling wouldn't scare you so much if you could just see what was making the noise. It might be something as harmless as a Caterpie... or it could be something as dangerous as a full-grown Tyranitar. You honestly can't tell.[/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]As if thinking of the sound triggered its arrival, you hear something approaching down the tunnel. Stopping in your tracks, you tilt your head to try and hear it more clearly. It's still pitch black in the tunnel, but you can hear the scrabbling approaching you from behind. Fear grips your heart, nearly freezing you in place as you imagine the worst possible endings. Adrenaline pushes you back into motion, and your hand shoots to the wall, almost begging there to be a hiding spot. No, you need to think rationally about this... you have a few seconds before whatever it is arrives. [/SIZE]

[SIZE= 20px]You could get a head start and run away, or you could stand your ground and fight whatever this thing is. Or, you figure you could spend the seconds looking for a place to hide. Perhaps it can't see in this pitch blackness, either. If you're quiet, it might slip by. Another option is to bank on the possibility that it's something small, like a Caterpie, and attempt to scare it off.[/SIZE]

I read no fluttering, and thus no wings. Just climb the wall and you should be fine, you silly gecko.

>Hide<

This thing sholden't see too much in this cave either. And if it does, we could alternativly run away, right?

I also wholden't try to intimidate.

I wholden't be scared of an lvl 5 as an monster but as an friend i whold think it's an monster and whold run away, so it's for me one of the worst options to choose from xD!

And fighting...this is an spoopy cave some green tiny grass lands where level 2s are xD!

Heya guys! This is going on hiatus until after the forums move! The HTML is gonna mess up, and once everything's back in formation with BBCode, I'll be picking this right back up! Thanks for sticking along this far, and I hope to see you guys later on in the month!
